They outlawed drag in Texas this week. "In front of children" in public AND private places.
(Which as everyone knows will be used selectively.)
I ain't here for politics. But that makes a lot of us trannies... OUTLAWS. I've never felt so alive!!!

I’m not sure how many of you know that this happened during Pride month, but this did. Keep fighting—we’re going to win someday, so if you’re struggling, please don’t give up hope.

With all the right wing panic over drag queens I was thinking of watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade as a kid in 1982 and seeing Milton Berle dressed like this. And at the time Berle was a comedian popular with older, conservative people and no one had any problem with him in drag for a kids’ parade.

Critics are saying a new bill introduced into the Texas Legislature this year will only encourage a bounty-hunting trend that targets drag queens and transgender people. Texas state GOP Rep. Steve Toth filed House Bill 4378 on Thursday, March 9 that will allow anyone in Texas to sue people who perform in drag or host a drag performance where children are present.
The bill targets events like family-friendly brunch shows at restaurants or drag queen story time events at libraries or other family-oriented drag queen events. The bill says that people who sue a person or venue can be awarded $5,000 in damages.
Erin Reed, a transgender rights activist and independent reporter, tweeted about HB 4378 on Saturday, March 11, saying that the piece of legislation could easily be used to target transgender people who perform.
Tumblr media
The bill defines drag as "a performance in which a performer exhibits a gender that is different than the performer’s gender recorded at birth." It goes on to say this performance can involve using makeup and clothing to dance, lip sync, or perform "in a lascivious manner."
Tumblr media
The bill joins 17 other proposed pieces of Texas legislation that targets transgender people, drag queens, and the LGBTQ+ community. The Advocate reported in November 2022 that Texas legislators have proposed anti-LGBTQ+ bills for the upcoming legislative session. This now includes HB 4378 and the recent heterosexual tax cut bill from state Rep. Bryan Slaton.
That proposed bill would provide massive tax cuts, up to 100%, for straight families that stay married and have children. Slaton also pushed a bill that would have outlawed minors at drag shows.

Schatzline, a first-term state representative and former pastor, did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment. However, in a tweet shared Tuesday, he appeared to confirm his participation in the video.
“Y’all really going crazy over me wearing a dress as a joke back in school for a theatre project? Yah, that’s not a sexually explicit drag show… lol y’all will twist ANYTHING,” he wrote.

The thing to me about the Doctor's companions is that they are, at their very cores, ordinary. And that's not an insult. They are human, flawed and messy and chaotic and petty and obsessive and clingy and kind and mortal and ordinary. And yet the Doctor chooses them again and again. Every Doctor is given a moment where they could choose to leave them behind. To keep moving. To go find someone else. To let them be ordinary. And yet the Doctor chooses the companion, sees some extraordinary in all of these ordinary people, because seven billion people and counting and the Doctor's never met someone like them.

How would bill feel if dipper reincarnated as an incubus?
Thrilled. Delighted. Tickled pink! Partly because hey! That's a great look for him! Inhuman and demonic and oh-so-cute. Another part because of all the demonic subtypes he could end up as, this one has to be the most ironic, a bit of him thrilled just because it's good to see him again -
And of course, a Big Ol' Chunk of delight for the other obvious reason.

Since it goes unmentioned unless you live here, I'm gonna be the one to bring attention to this;
The UK House Of Commons has passed the Troubles Legacy Bill
What does this mean? "It would stop new Troubles-era cases and inquests from starting, and offer a conditional amnesty to those accused of killings. If implemented, the law would apply to former members of the security forces and to ex-paramilitaries"
Ie; the UK government has just passed a bill that prevents victims of the Troubles from bringing former British soldiers and paramilitary members to court over murdering innocents. All under the guise of 'drawing a line under the events of the past'.
The only ones really for this bill are, naturally, veterans groups. I cannot stress enough that all the major political parties of Northern Ireland are against this bill.
The Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) has also stated the Irish attorney general is preparing advice on whether the case could be taken to the European Court of Human Rights.
It's a slap in the face to everyone here, to the friends and families of those wrongfully killed.

This is known as the drag pride flag, which felt really relevant to share given the state of things.
