redraw of one of my old ocs:

This is Loop de Loop, otherwise known as Loop Doop or just Loop to kids! (She doesn’t like her name much, but it’s what the company branded her as and she can’t exactly change it.)

Some facts:

Her hands are not attached to her body, they’re more 3d holograms you can feel (don’t ask me how it works, I dunno either). it does take some conscious effort to have them out, so she doesn’t usually unless she’s with someone or needs to convey something. If you grab her hands, though, she can feel it and it does have a similar effect as pulling a real connected hand: if you’re strong enough, you can drag her along with it. (And yes, she has four fingers and they're never properly drawn, I'm sorry I can't draw real hands...)

She doesn’t have a voicebox. She communicates with sounds and holographs (you’ll see what I mean if/when I post comics of her).

She used to belong to a different company before being sold into FazCo in some merger between the companies. (which comes in later, hehe…)

She was originally built with an outgoing, extroverted personality, but it developed into something more meek and quiet.

Her 'cheeks' get bigger or smaller depending on her emotions.

She doesn’t usually hang out with the main star animatronics because they treat her less then well. She prefers speaking with the mapbots, staffbots and wet floor bots, or the DJ if she has the chance. Because of her affiliation with the staffbots, it leads a lot of members of staff and guests to believe she is one, and they treat her as such often.

She is a bit of a people-pleaser, and feels there's something wrong with her when she gets told off for not 'wiping the floors and doing her @$#% job'.

She cannot curse, by the way, it carries into her holographs as signs, sorta like the smurf comics. She doesn't like cursing much anyways, so it's not something that usually happens.

When kids come up to her on occasion (because she is sort of a performer), she'll ask them for their autograph on a picture with them, then print two. One for the kid, and one for her personal collection. She remembers every kid she's ever talked to before.

Her charging port is in the 2nd lil ball on the left side of her head.

The balls aren't anything special, just some soft, styrofoam-like material for kids to enjoy.

She doesn't interact with other animatronics, as said be but is occasionally forced to by Bloo (I'll post his redraw when I finish it) and puts up with it. On that note:

- She doesn't like Monty or Roxanne very much, but she does interact with Monty more. Although most wouldn't call 'grabbing your younger brother to keep him away from the big scary bot he sees as an idol' an interaction. Roxanne has insulted Bloo though, so she stays away from her (and makes sure Bloo stays away as well).

- She's never actually met Freddy before, but she hears that he's nice from the Wet Floor bots. She personally doesn't want to meet him, either, assuming he's just like Monty and Roxy but worse because he's the face of the company.

She's only ever seen the pictures of Bonnie-the merger was somewhat recent, so he was gone by the time they arrived.

She's seen Chica around, but...Chica means well, but she treats Loup Doop more like a kid than like an equal.

- She loves the DJ. They're best buddies in her eyes. They'll do remixes together, she'll ride on his back, babysit the minis, anything.

-She...doesn't really know what to think of the Daycare Attendant. The yellow one seems okay, just a bit too loud for her liking. The dark one, on the other hand...she's heard the stories from the STAFFbots and decides to steer clear of him if she can.

-Unfortunately, she can't stay as far away as she'd like cuz her brother in bolts has to look up to the strangest role models.

She actually meets them before Bloo does.

playing twilight princess again years later with a better understanding of my queer identity and this line really resonated with me

more musings under the break

(be warned that this is pretty unorganized i'm just letting my thoughts spill)

i played twilight princess when it first came out on gamecube december of 2006. i don't remember that playthrough. i don't remember the thoughts i had about everything in the game. all i know is i loved it and i played it over and over again. but i don't remember thinking much of it past being a game

since the last time i actually sat down and played it, which has to be over 10 years ago, i've watched countless reviews and speedruns and what have you. those replaced my memories of this game. so i decided i want to play this game again and actually pay attention to it

Link as a character stands out so much to me now. Being able to pick up dogs and cats and pet goats was always just a mechanical thing i noticed, but i never thought about it narratively. The reason this is the only game you can do that is because this Link loves animals. He works on a farm and lives in nature. He's kind but also has a feral side to him, which makes his transformation into a wolf so fucking perfect. I always just thought it was random that he became a wolf but there's no better animal for him to be. Canines are used for herding, just like his job, but he's also wild and undomesticated. He does everything he does because he chooses to, because he's a good person

And because he has that love for animals i don't see the wolf form as a curse as i once did. It's just another side of him, one that the people he knows shuns because they don't recognize him. But in that form he can finally communicate with the animals he's already felt that connection to

Another thing about TP that i never really got til now is Link stepping into the hero's role. Like, now i can understand how that can feel, moving on from your simple routine and doing something you HAVE to do. Like now being an adult on my own there's a lot of parallels there

One last thing i want to talk about is how i forgot how TP is just straight up an OoT sequel. Sure it's pretty far removed but this is still OoT ganondorf and Link is getting the inherited power from OoT Link, who is also the one teaching him secret sword techniques throughout the game. The only way to beat Ganondorf is with the final blow, which OoT teaches you. This is still the same fight from OoT, just many many many years later. It just kinda makes critics complaining that it's a retread of OoT look stupid honestly, cuz like of course the same themes are gonna come up, TP Link has to go through the same journey (also the games are so fucking different i still don't understand the criticism)

just learned about @neil-gaiman's writing routine (first drafts in a journal with a fountain pen, set time between 1-6pm and just write without distractions, allowing oneself to do nothing) and I actually really want to try it out. I feel like it'd be good for me to force myself into literally putting pen to paper since many of my favorite short blurbs I've written were because I took my time to write them down instead of typing them up... looks like I'll be buying a new journal tomorrow!

i’ll b answering some comments on my last piece w/ some compositional notes + wip shot below the cut!

im obsessed with the title for this piece like. i dont know ur oc or whatever personal story/AU they've got but even so this is. powerful they're a balance wizard. they're the blind angel of Judgement. they've got Power Nova behind em: the birth of a new star they've got a smile on their face and their stance isn't rigid straight. they're swayed the dark soul is heavier than the light feather of truth are the 5 blades a reference to tarot? or like. blades in wizzy that buff your spells?

also a balance wizard w a god comex is so antithetical i love it

so gonna b real here “god_complex” came from me saving the initial sketch and thinking “man homegirl’s got some bde here” LOL. i’m not entirely sure if she does have a god complex or not, but i love your interpretation of the piece! frankly, i try not to get attached to the little details of my characters since i tend to be more concerned about crafting a larger and thematically cohesive narrative, so their characterization is really flexible. i actually find this concept of an antithetical sorcerer w/ a god complex REALLY saucy, so this has all been a happy coincidence of me just wanted to draw a fun cool scene. when i first imagined this piece, i’m fairly certain it was while my homies n i were pressing the delete button on a random boss LOL so really, it was a bit of my own hubris as a “god complex” than my oc’s! i haven’t gone past polaris yet so who knows! maybe she WILL go down her corruption arc :O

the only concrete thing here is that she’s meant to be a successor to ma’at (judgement), hence the whole judgement imagery. it makes me giddy inside as an illustrator to see that these compositional elements communicated that sufficiently 😊

(like a fool i deleted my sketches so this is the oldest remaining screenshot of my sketch orz)

here r some compositional notes about the piece:

mistress of judgement—blindfold, wings, scales of time (include heart+maat feather) ((i also wanted to make the staff ridiculously huge to be cool; i included a counterweight at the other end but it got covered up by the sandstorm)), halo for the Cool Factor, khopesh ((this was later changed to the sword of kings, then later to dragonblade))

bladestorm encircling enveloped by wings ((or more accurately mechanics-wise, balanceblade+enchant balanceblade+bladestorm+enchant bladestorm+dragonblade; i like to imagine that in a solo context the 4 bladestorms would just stack up to b used later LOL initially i wanted to do the crossed blades, but it ended up being compositionally messy so i scrapped that. while sketching i DID consider tarot imagery though 5 and 4 didn't really fit akdhkfkf anymore than 4 blades encircling and it would've been messy, and less and it would've been lacking. also, initially the blades were pointed down, but i decided against it to better represent them as charms bc i couldn't stop thinking of the sword of damocles which would be more of a threat LOL))

power nova, framed by raised wings ((it's been my aoe of choice + i like the implication that balance as an "element" is part sand part (sun)light; i also wanted to somewhat evoke ra imagery too by having power nova as the sun w/ its rays of light))

swirling sandstorm below ((i was just really taken by the sandstorm animation update bc it's so sparkly and pretty—girl got such a glow up. a bit of a happy accident but my friend interpreted it as chastisement n i was like yea that works too LOL. another happy accident was the red cast ending up evoking balance of power c: although power play was such a fun meme play))

modified alhazzy fit w/ balance pattern trim + cowl + no shoes + inspo from kim kassas’s walk like an egyptian ((hoo boy that collection has so many hot fits. not historically accurate but idgf it fucks. i was having trouble thinking of a suitable design since none of the in-game robes really suited the image i had in mind but this collection was The One. anyways i absolutely Love the balance pattern trim and i'm Very Offended girls don't get to use maroon to match w/ it. i made a csp brush for this bc no way in hell was i gonna handdraw all those LOL. if u want the brush n some other assets i made or ripped from kingsisle u should check the source link ;))) also you can't see the toes in the final render but in my sketches i ditched the ugly boots it's just a lil soleless footwrap now. ALSO i’m distraught that it slipped my mind to give her these earrings that mimicked the pans of a balance scale 😭))

Thinking so much lately about DOOP within the Rise of the Beasts verse. I know Dinobot didn't show up but that doesn't mean I can't shove him in there.

Very minor spoilers for RotB below~~

I like thinking that Apelinq probably rescued and raised an orphaned youngling Primal and started preparing Primal to lead from a pretty young age. Primal has an intense interest in biology and exploration and busies himself with research as an adult before he has to take over leadership from his adoptive creator.

One day, a shuttle crash lands on Eukaris (I know the planet didn't get named in the movie but I love the name Eukaris for it, so I'm going with it) and the stranger inside says he was expelled from the Predacons for having the audacity to challenge the Predacon leader. Apelinq is suspicious, but makes the decision to allow the newcomer to seek refuge with them.

And then he starts regretting it when he notices his heir getting pretty familiar with their ex-Predacon guest. Primal has an intense interest in the worlds that Dinobot lived on and saw, and in the Predacon culture and how it differs from the Maximals.

Apelinq doesn't like how close Primal and Dinobot seem to be getting and doesn't think Dinobot is good enough for his baby (but then again, he doesn't think any of the Maximals are good enough for Primal either).

But he can't tell Primal anything bc Primal will do what he wants XD

And then of course because I'm very predictable, I think about Primal and Dinobot having a little sparkling of their own. She's very much a sire's femme, takes after Primal in her curious nature, and is the sparkle in her grand-creator's optics.

Witch Au: TSAMS au in which KC raises Moon and Eclipse separately to become wielders of the star (a pendant). Problems arise when he disappears, and Eclipse sets out to make destiny a reality.

Truman Show au: In which Sun is trapped within a simulation created by the virus in his mindscape and is unaware of the happenings of the outside world. Truman Show AU playlist

Narnia Au: In which y/n stumbles upon Sun and Moon within the wardrobe of their house-moral dilemmas ensue.

Dentist Au: TSAMS au where Eclipse doesn't die the second time and is let go by Sun. He runs off and sets up his own private life away from the celestial family, running a small dentistry to fund his personal projects.

winnie the pooh au : Moon finds a talking stuffed animal that calls itself Pooh bear-a small side-story while everything else goes to shit and Gregory runs loose.
