Encanto Heacannons
Butterflies where Pedro’s favorite animals
Luisa’s favorite animals are unicorns and kittens. she hangs motivational pictures of them up in her gym/room for when she is working out.
Isabela does not actually have “effortlessly perfect hair or skin”. she actually has a huge array of cosmetics she uses to keep up her image, and has to wake up hours before everyone else to make sure she get the bathroom for a long enough time to apply them.
Alma has not gotten a full night of sound sleep since she became a mother. Her houses noise level has not been the reason in many years.
Agustin’s birth family own a small orchard where they make and sell jars of jam and honey. Agustin has had bad luck with bee keeping his entire life, but honey is one of Julieta’s favorite cooking ingredients, so anytime she is out Agustin goes right out to get her more fresh.
Pepa was very literally walking on clouds for 2 straight weeks after the first time Felix told her he loved her.
Antonio has always loved animals since before he could walk, and even before getting his gift always drew pictures of himself with Toucan wings or the whiskers and tail or a jaguar.
Dolores is the family bookworm. Books don’t make noise and reading a good one can help her tune out how loud everything/everyone sound. In addition to fur-lind (sound proof) walls the middle of her room is set up like a library, with rows of shelves, many books, and lounge furniture for her to sit and read in.
whenever Mirabel does her sewing or embroidery she will tilt her head a bit to the right, and stick the tip of her tung out the left corner of her mouth. She doesn’t mean to do this, its just something that she does automatically. When her neck starts to ach she takes it as a sign to put down what she is working on, and find something else to do for a little bit.
Camilo cannot stay still for 2 minutes, that is just something he cannot do. He will inevitably start to shake his knees or fidget with his hands. His body language does not change when he changes. This is what makes it easy for Felix and other members of the family to recognize Camilo even when he is pretending to be someone else.
When they both shared the nursery Antonio would sleep in Mirabel’s bed anytime he had trouble sleeping. In the week leading up to his ceremony he asked Mirabel if she would move into his new room with him so she could still be around on nights he cannot sleep. She was really sad wen she had to tell him no (Camilo had  originally offered to share his new room with her when her door disintegrated) and explained to him that his new room would be designed specifically for him and for honing his gift. After this is when she started making the stuffed jaguar
Mirabel wears glasses because she is farsighted (her vision is stronger from a distance than up close). Alma and Bruno have similar problems with their vision and both used to wear glasses. Alma lost hers while fleeing from the soldiers, and in her grief lumped “perfect vision” in with her old home, former city, husband, and happiness as “one more thing they took from me”. Bruno smashed his glasses himself once in a fit of hatred for his powers and what they made his life into.

TIO BRUNO HEADCANONS BY GRANKID LETS GOOOOO
I've made a few posts already, for headcanons involving:
Isabela/Dolores
Luisa
And now for Camilo!
Tumblr media
Bruno has the hardest time getting to know Camilo when he rejoins the family. In part because he was the second youngest when Bruno left, and by that point, people were terrified of him. Camilo hardly remembered his tio at all aside from his general appearance. That, and rumors told by his family. I like to think he remembered the rats, though. I headcanon that he is very afraid of rats, even during and after Ecanto, and that's why it was what he chose to mention in WDTAB
I imagine the rats would also cause Camilo to avoid Tio Bruno at first, until maybe something happens that rings the "I need an adult" alarms and Bruno is the only person home who fits that description.
For example: I see Camilo as wanting to be very grown-up and responsible, wanting to handle things on his own and maybe emulate his Papa a bit. Camilo is a top-teir Mama's boy, and he is constantly seeing this calming, grounding energy from Felix directed to Pepa. So, I feel like Camilo would have trouble asking for help in general until one of very few things happens; Tonito getting hurt, la casa being in any sort of trouble (fire/flood/etc), or even one of his hermanito's animal buddies getting hurt.
At which point, Camilo would have to go to his tio. I imagine Bruno would be an absolute nervous wreck, until he saw his sobrino/s panicking. I might be projecting, but since Bruno is so protective of la familia, I can see him being the type of person who's own anxiety shuts off completely when presented with a crisis in which he has to be the solution.
I see Bruno being quick to console Camilo, asking him to take deep breaths before explaining the problem. If it's an injury, he goes straight for the first-aid, whether it be for one of his sobrinos or a critter. He explains to them both the whole time that it's gonna be just fine, and Tia Julieta will be home an hour before sundown with plenty of snacks for everyone. Bruno puts on a show or plays some music to distract them in the meantime.
If it was an accident of some kind leading to property damage, Hernando and Jorge come in clutch for Camilo and they both lie through their teeth about why the wall is a few shades lighter than it was when Alma left the house. Bruno makes sure to reprimand/use it as a teaching moment, but he cuts the kid a good amount of slack for how bad it could've been. Cool uncle status.
After this point, Camilo starts warming up to his tio a bit more, hanging out with him and the other kids.
Camilo helps Tio Bruno write his telenovellas de ratas. The two of them spend hours making sets and directing the rats. At first, it’s just to help Camilo get over his fear of rats, but soon it becomes more about Bruno wanting to give Camilo an outlet to be creative, maybe as a way of dealing with a gift that is just garunteed to cause identity issues.
I believe Camilo might feel better going to his tio Bruno about things like dissociating or anxiety or panic attacks. He sees a different sort of male role model in Bruno, a bit less overtly caring and doting than his tio Agustin, but more softspoken than his Papa. Like I said, Felix is this rock for his immediate family, and Camilo looks up to his father for that. I could see the poor kid not wanting to show this sort of "weakness" to his dad, or worse yet, burden his frazzled mami with these feelings.
Bruno never ever asks Camilo to shapeshift if he can possibly help it. He wants to make sure the poor kid knows that isn’t all he’s good for.

Dos Palomas (2/4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Bruno Madrigal x F!Reader
Warnings: Implied smut (+16), age gap, mild angst, jealous Bruno, Dolores “I cannot keep a damn secret” Madrigal.
Author’s Note: Many people liked the first part of this one-shot (and thanks for the dms about my grandma ;-;), so I decided to write a second and third part that goes straight into Bruno and the reader’s relationship. Also, please ignore Bruno’s stairs in his room, okay? Okay.
↳ Part 1 | Part 3
Tumblr media
My stay in the house Madrigal is nostalgic and kind of tiring. Abuela Alma is my tutor for the time I’m here, since we didn’t have an Encanto as they did, my familia’s magic may only come in time instead of being given. To be honest, the older woman surprised me when she said she didn’t know how the future ceremonies will go on without that special candle, but abuela didn’t look too worried about that, much to Mirabel’s joy. I must admit I'm not the most responsible girl in the world, as all I did was get in trouble with Camilo and Isabela while doing all kinds of stuff around casita. I don't remember Isabela being this happy nor carefree, all we did was play perfect as we tried dresses abuela would give us.
Tia Pepa was the most clingy member of the whole family, not that I hate it, but I do need to calm her with my power so she doesn't drench me. I've been excited to pass time with tio Bruno since that night on the rooftop, but I have the feeling that he's avoiding me and I don't know why when I constantly see him checking up on me and trying to start a conversation.
I meant to ask Dolores about it, know if there's something wrong, however, for as much as nothing could go unnoticed in this town because of her... It's still Bruno's privacy.
Stepping out of the guest room, I walked towards the kitchen to meet Bruno eating an arepa, tia Julieta was nowhere to be seen. "Buenos días." I said softly, alerting the man of my presence. "Hola (Y/N), how did you sleep?" He asked with a smile decorating his features, I took an arepa and gave it a bite after answering. "I slept well, just... There's still a sadness in my heart I can't fully shake away."
"It's normal, losing someone is unexpected. That sadness won't go away so soon... Eh, I didn't mean-- Sorry--" Bruno facepalms, and I snorted at his attempts to comfort me. "It's okay, Bruno. You're right... Hey, can I ask you something?"  Bruno was taking a bit of his arepa as he nodded. "Why are you suddenly avoiding me?" That question made him choke to the point of almost throwing up, I could tell it caught him off guard as I saw a little bit of green in his eyes. He thought I wouldn't be so straightforward. After straightening his posture and stopping coughing, he glances at me before walking out of the kitchen without a word.
"No, no no no! That's not what's happening here! I-I can assure you of that! Tu me has ayudado mucho, you've been the only one that never judged me for my gift, even when you were a little girl you still wanted me to see your future..." Bruno sighed deeply and I raised my head to look at him. "Even when I saw it I didn't know if it was bad, or good for a change. Do you... Perhaps remember what I told you?" He asked, scratching his head nervously.
"Bruno? Hey! Now you're downright ignoring me!" I go after him and blessed God that nobody was around. "Bruno could you just stop and tell me what's going on?" I chase him around the magical house, casita helping me to reach Bruno every time he decides to hide somewhere. I huffed and trapped him between me and a wall, making him let out a yelp as he stared at me in the eyes. "L-Look, paloma, I really have to go, there's this telenovela that I--"
"I do... That I would marry someone I knew my whole life. But you couldn't see his face, also said that my choices would make that happen. You didn't look happy when you told me that I would get married." I said, and Bruno smiled a little with his brows furrowed. "I did, just... Your grandma wasn't happy, and your grandfather looked strangely pleased. I know that's what made him start looking for a husband for you since you were young." Bruno was babbling out again and I groaned. "Bruno, forget about my toxic grandfather! I don't understand, is this why you've been avoiding me?" I questioned him again, and for a moment he was silent. "Eres hermosa, (Y/N). I would be surprised if that moment of your life wouldn't come, vision or not. I didn't..." Bruno shuts his mouth and takes a few steps towards me.
His hands were trembling as he took mine, so gently, like he thought I would break like porcelain. "Whoever that guy is, mi pequeña paloma... I hope he treats you well."
"For as much as I love telenovelas, you aren't going anywhere until you tell me why you're acting like this! It's like..." I lowered my arms while noticing the sudden disheartened look in Bruno's eyes, I embraced myself and felt my soul begin to weaken. "You don't want me around you... I-Is that it...?"
"Bruno...?" I have no idea where all of this was coming from, it's almost like in the last few days he has only been able to think of that vision, a vision that he'd seen so long ago and that I had almost forgotten about it. Then, I saw Bruno staring into my eyes, and the air caught up in my throat. It's like a lover's stare, but that can't be... Why are my cheeks burning up?! No! Bad (Y/N)!
Bruno and I heard a familiar squeak, and to our most horrible nightmares, Dolores was staring at us from the other side of the large terrace. "Dolores... No, this isn't...!" Dolores didn't stay to hear it and ran off like the speed of light, leaving Bruno and me to analyze our situation in silence.
"She's going to tell everyone." I said without emotion.
"She IS going to tell everyone, what have I done?! Voy de cabeza al infierno!" Bruno let go of me quickly and I stumbled back. "Bruno!" I watched him start to pray the Ave Maria purísima as he runs back to his room with me following after him. Casita closes the door behind us and I cross my arms as I see Bruno panic. "I'm so much older than you! What was I thinking?? Your father will kill me! No! Mi madre will kill me! And then I'll be killed in the afterlife by YOUR abuela for ruining you!"
"Bruno, you didn't do anything! Please stop panicking, we'll solve this! Somehow..." I muttered the last part without truly knowing how, he's true, what we just did was something that wasn't well seen in any community, not to speak that both families would never let us see each other again... Or possibly cut all communication, and I didn't come here to be thrown away. "You don't understand, (Y/N). This isn't supposed to happen, you're going to marry--"
"I'm not going to marry anyone if I say no!" With that, he stopped his loud jabbering and pursed his lips. "Do you... H-Have feelings for me...?"
The older man laughed nervously, looking everywhere but me. His laugh slowly quieted down until there was nothing but his sorrowful expression. "I don't see you as a daughter, or familia... I didn't want it to be like this. I'm sorry."
"This isn't your fault... I don't imagine my life without you either, Bruno. I want to ask you to see the future again, but I'm scared of what I'll see, and how you will feel." I kissed his cheek softly and smiled at him, he flashed me one back, although small. My heartbeat increased as I notice his bed behind him, my cheeks warming with embarrassment. "If anyone asks, I was the one to make the move." His confused stare changed to an expression I have never seen on him.
Bruno sat on his bed with me on his lap, his hands impatiently caressing my body. "Mi paloma... Mi dulce paloma..." We found ourselves not caring who knew about us, not when we found warmth in each other.

Bruno Madrigal X Male-Reader – Heart’s Refuge - Chapter Two
The Heart of the Mountain
A/N – And I’m back. Merry Christmas. Disney+ now has Encanto, so I could look up a few details here and there, whilst also crying over the fact that Bruno is voiced by Sid the sloth from Ice Age. Hope that ruins your lives.
Warnings – None.

Alma Madrigal reacted exactly as expected from the lead matriarch of Encanto. Although terrified that the hunters had come to destroy what remained of her family, she hid it well, focusing on a plan of action.
The green tablet that her son had brought from his tower revealed that for the time being only one person would find Encanto. Perhaps it was a scout being sent ahead of an army searching for viable territory, or maybe it was a lone poacher after exotic animals. Unable to see much more than your head peering through the gap in the mountain Alma couldn’t tell whether you carried weaponry, but that didn’t matter; she would be prepared for any eventuality.
“Luisa, Isabela, go to the mountain. Block it up if you can. Try to do it before the intruder gets here.”
A sense of foreboding fell over Bruno as he listened to his mother’s first instruction. Didn’t she realise that whatever he prophesised would come to pass? Or was she just trying to allay fears by attempting to take control of the very future that had been written in stone? Well, why not? She had already tried to control everything her family and the town did for fifty years; even the fantastical ‘Abuela’ Alma couldn’t change her habits in only a few short weeks. All Mirabel had done was show Alma her shortcomings; it wasn’t enough to fix them immediately.
Still, Bruno obeyed Alma’s order to go back to his prophecy tower and try to divine more about who was coming.
In the meantime, Julieta was to cook up as much food as she could in case the visitor posed a threat to any of the townsfolk. Dolores was charged with listening for any messages from Luisa & Isabela, relaying them to her Abuela. Camilo, lacking a power that could be of much use right then was ordered to wait by his mother’s side, calming Pepa so the weather would not work against the Encanto; should the invader be captured, he would wait on the side-lines, shapeshifting into her in the case of an invasion waiting on its scout. Finally, that left Antonio, the youngest of the amazing Madrigals. Alma worried that she was putting the weight of the world on his shoulders when she told him to use his animal companions to protect the residents of Encanto, yet remembering the way the hunters had murdered her dear Pedro, she felt there was no other choice; if the rest of her family failed, Antonio would be the only one left to herd the villagers to safety, using his animals as protectors and guides.
With a heavy heart, Alma didn’t hide away in the town square, nor did she travel up the mountain with her granddaughters. Instead, she waited with Dolores, Mirabel, Julieta, Agustín, Camilo, and Félix. Keeping a straight face, Alma prayed to the heavens… to her beloved Pedro, that nothing bad would come to her family.

When Bruno went to divine more of the future, he wasted no time getting into the bamboo elevator, which shot upwards at his desire. Even though it was going at a reasonable speed, Bruno couldn’t help feeling like everything was going so slowly. He frantically rapped on the bamboo and his head, repeating, “Knock, knock, knock, knock on wood.”
He had spent so many years repeating the mantra that it was habit now, the only thing to soothe him when it felt like his anxieties would consume him. If he were inside the walls of the old Casita, fixing cracks, he knew that he could pretend to be braver as Hernando; it might have been a silly game, but to Bruno, the alter-ego had been one of his only friends for a long time…too long.
When the elevator finally reached the top of the stairs, Bruno ran into the cave, tripping on the way. He cursed himself for forgetting to hold his breath while crossing his fingers; if he’d done that, he felt sure that he wouldn’t have tripped.
With little time to waste, Bruno got up and brushed himself off before hastily throwing himself back down into his sand circle. Although some might have called it a waste of time, Bruno still made sure to go through his other rituals to ward off bad luck before peering into the future.
In his sand-dome, Bruno saw pretty much exactly what he had seen the night before. The mountain. The crack. The intruder. He was about to give up until he thought about Mirabel and her butterfly. If she hadn’t forced him to look deeper into his old vision, they would have never repaired the bond between Isabela and Mirabel.
Bruno had just gotten his family back; he wasn’t going to lose them again. With a renewed resolve, he stood up within the sand-dome, searching all around him for something new.
The mountain. The crack. The intruder. The mountain. The crack. The intruder. The mountain. The crack. The intruder. It was all the same. He squinted hard at the invader’s face, and finally there was something else. A new image was forming. Bruno could barely make it out as the sand reshaped itself to tell him what he needed to know. It was him? Yes, definitely him. He was kneeling on the ground? No, there was more to it than that. He was talking with someone! Who could it be? Was it his family? The townsfolk?
A flash of green erupted as the vision ended.
Bruno rushed to catch the emerald glass leftover from his vision; he had to know what he had just seen. Looking down at the image, he swallowed anxiously. There could be no doubt about it now. The intruder was going to get in, and at some point, Bruno was going to converse with him.
Unsure whether he should feel relieved that the intruder didn’t appear to be a threat or concerned that he was going to be the one to confront him, Bruno sat staring at the glass; no amount of knocking on wood would help him decipher this.

You stared in awe at the rainbow river before you. It was a natural phenomenon that you hadn’t known was possible. Would the world never cease providing wonders waiting to be explored by you? Although you felt lucky to bear witness to such an incredible place, you were also terrified. Staring at the water near your feet, you could almost ignore the mountain you had travelled for weeks to see, but if you lifted your head just slightly, it was impossible to miss.
Beautiful, lush greenery that spanned miles in a vertical climb had been torn asunder by the huge split in the mountain, revealing the broken, jagged earth beneath. Looking at it made the hairs on your neck stand on edge. This was the very thing that you had come to explore, but seeing it sent shivers down your spine.
Still, you had come this far, and though you were certain that what lay beyond the mountain split would change your life, possibly for the worse, you knew that you couldn’t stop here. Great people had travelled into the ocean depths and the frontier of space; you weren’t as incredible as them, but you refused to be less than ordinary. You had to know what was beyond that mountain.
Taking tentative steps forward, you brushed your hand against the stone. Contrarily, cold and warmth seeped into your hand. You paused, taking deep breaths. The strange sensation against your skin was like feeling the planet’s very pulse; suddenly, you understood how the ancient Greeks could believe that Gaia was a real living being.
You continued walking forward, withdrawing your hand with a gasp as you cut it against a sharp rock you hadn’t noticed. You grimaced in pain, stopping so you could retrieve a bandage from your backpack. You probably shouldn’t have stopped in the middle of the mountain, which nature had so viciously torn apart, but an odd sense of calm had settled over you. You were going somewhere safe; the earth told you so.
You shook your head, glad that nobody could see you losing your grip on reality. The earth told you so? Who had ever heard of anything so ridiculous?
You had barely reached the other side of the mountain, peeking your head through, when you saw Encanto.
A whole village, albeit damaged, awaited you. How long had this been here? Was it abandoned? How had this gone undiscovered on your maps of the jungle? You didn’t receive an answer to any of your questions, instead being yanked into the air by creeping vines that wrapped around your entire body.
You opened your mouth to scream, but it was efficiently cut off by the plant’s chokehold to your throat. What kind of plant acted this way?
“Isa, that’s too much,” A voice warned. “You’ll kill him!”
“No,” Another, calmer voice replied. “I’m just going to knock her out. Block up the mountain, Luisa.”
A sigh and then, “Okay, if you say so.”
You heard the sound of something heavy, and then the lilting voice again, “Dolores, tell Abuela we’re on our way home. The invader has been captured.”
Then, although the vines became noticeably looser, it was too late for you; before you could take that large gulp of air that you desperately needed, you passed out.
