Tentacle shennanigans. Truly anything you can come up with from the truly bizarre to the "they fell into a monster trap" to "they adopted a cute little buddy." (Dmbj has tentacle monsters and zombie things in like every show and yet the ratio of weird creatures in fic? Could always be higher)

If the source material has aliens, monsters, creatures, powers, EXPLORE THAT! If the source material is mundane, try an AU where you explore What If they did have powers, were aliens, etc. I'm extra emphazising this though if the source material already has one of these elements, because it can be fun to expand the sandbox and explore how Far a premise can be stretched. There's so many source materials with monsters (supernatural), magic (merlin), powers (xmen, guardian, marvel), aliens (doctor who, torchwood, star trek) and it'd be cool having more fics exploring farther than the initial bounds of the source material, or even just a new angle it never happened to go in.

Ensemble group stories! What's a day in the life for the group? What's a bizarre day for the group? (If its star trek there could be cool aliens! Weird planets that make you question your own life! If its dmbj how weird would it be if they entered a tomb and just ran into a normal non criminal university achaeologist! If its Guardian did they meet a ghost? A mutant? Did they attempt to avoid weird shit entirely and it went fine until Chu Shuzhi pulled out his puppet and attacked someone being rude to the store customer service? Whats a class day of the kids on DS9 look like? What does Torchwood look like all on a covert mission to blend in at a resort getaway? How does a usual investigation go for Chloe and Lucifer?)

An expansion of the last one: take a crack fanfic premise and write it seriously. Wu Xie is stuck with a normal oblivious archaeologist, they run into zombies, the archaeologist still has no idea, a monster possesses Wu Xie, what happens? Danny Phantom runs into Mulder and Scully, what happens? Zhao Yunlan wants to interrogate Fei Du on suspicion of murder and being a mutant (im writing this lol). Henry from RWRB wakes up in his fantasy story where he's incan old kingdom and Alex's lookalike is there, does he think its a coma he needs to escape, does he accept his new life? Barbie meets Wednesday Adams and they date (pretty sure this fanfic exists). Some fandoms are predisposed to treating crack seriously, such as dmbj or star trek you could write time travel slime monsters body doubles sex pollen invisible city floating on clouds talking flowers and all would basically be believable possibilities in canon. Those can be fun to explore the extent of bizarre and stretching you can do. (Kingdom Hearts is like... already that in some ways). But from the other direction, it can be fun to take something more realistic like RWRB or Bad Buddy and go "what if somebody was a mermaid, or they got stranded on an asteroid in the year 3000, or adopted a lil tribble, or were suddenly cloned."

Ridiculous Meet Cutes. This could be genre mashing so like: character A is a slasher on a killing spree and runs into character B who was plotting to kill a person dangerous to them and ends up thanking character A which was unintentional and intensely NOT intended, character A crashes a spaceship on character Bs job so yay they get to quit at least (in a fandom where there shouldnt be space ships canonically), character A summons a demon but B shows up instead, character A meets character B at the library as they share like interesting reading material both unaware theyre like Story Enemies (hero/villian or perpetrator/investigator etc). Character As house is haunted and they run out screaming and crash into B who is then also Haunted by extension and confronts A about it. Idk Im not great at meet cutes but I guarantee the wild stuff fanfiction comes up with can often times be a lot of fun and sometimes very interesting in a way canon might have not put as much thought into.

Woods ( Springfield , Massachusetts , November 2, 1931 - Stroudsbourg, Pennsylvania , September 29, 2015 ) was an American jazz Philip Wells musician , saxophonist alto , and clarinetist ; he has also occasionally played the soprano . He falls into the stylistic current of bebop.

Phil Woods studied music with Lennie Tristano , who has been a major influence on his career, at the Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School . His friend Joe Lopes taught him to play the clarinet, as there was no lead saxophone at Juilliard at the time. Although he never copied Charlie Parker , he was known as the "New Bird", a nickname that has also been applied to other musicians such as Sonny Stitt and Cannonball Adderley at one point or another in his careers. He wanted to take the baton from Parker and expressed it like this: “They say that Charlie Parker was God. In that case, I am his messenger ” or “I never get tired of playing Charlie Parker's music, in the same way that no one gets tired of playing Mozart”. His professional career began in 1954 with a brief collaboration with Richard Haynes . He later was engaged by the Charlie Barnet Orchestras and by the Jimmy Raney Quintet . Also in 1954 he recorded his first album under his name and in a quintet for the "New Jazz" label and entitled Phil Woods and New Jazz Quintet . In 1956, he entered Dizzy Gillespie, performing all over the world during the three years he was with him. He then moved on to drummer Buddy Rich's Orchestra band in 1958 and between 1959 and 1961, he played in the Quincy Jones . In 1961, Phil Woods recorded his first album as a quintet with his own compositions, Rights of Swing , for the "Candid" label with the accompaniment of Tommy Flanagan on piano and Curtis Fuller on trombone. In 1962, he participated in the group that accompanied Benny Goodman on a tour in the Soviet Union sponsored by the State Department, of which the album Benny Goodman and his Orchestra in Moscow remains . Phil Woods later performed and recorded in the Thelonious Monk and Oliver Nelson groups , but did not record again as a leader until 1966. He collaborated with a host of jazz musicians throughout his life. His contributions can be highlighted of him on albums by John Lewis ( Orchestra USA ), Sonny Rollins ( Alfie ), Stéphane Grapelli ( Master Sessions, vol. 1 ) and Bill Evans ( Symbiosis ). Or in soundtracks of famous films like El hustler or Blow Up . After going to France in 1968, Woods led The European Rhythm Machine , along with pianist Gordon Beck; Henri Texier, on double bass; and Daniel Humair, on drums, a group that tended towards the jazz avant-garde. He returned to the United States in 1972 and, after a failed attempt to establish an electronic group, he formed a quintet that lasted, with some changes in its members, until 2004. In 1973, after a musical encounter with Michel Legrand , Woods recorded the album Musique du Bois , which is situated in the modern jazz tradition and helps to redirect jazz to its natural channels on the basis of updating the forms of bebop. In 1979, Phil Woods recorded More Live , at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas. His best-known work as a sideman has perhaps been Billy Joel's pop song " Just the Way You Are ", in which he plays alto sax. He also played alto sax on Steely Dan's "Doctor Wu", from his well-known and highly praised 1975 album Katy Lied , as well as Paul Simon's 1975 hit Have a Good Time . During his last years he recorded some tributes to fellow musicians such as Thelonious Monk , Our Monk , a selection of his compositions recorded with the Italian pianist Franco D'Andrea. When he was named a Master of Jazz by the US National Endowment for the Arts 5 in 2007, he said: “Jazz will never die. It's music forever, and I like to think that my music is somewhere and will have a duration that may not be forever, but that it can influence others." Although Woods is primarily a saxophonist, he is also a fine clarinet player and his solos are scattered throughout his recordings. A good example is his clarinet solo in Misirlou from the album Into The Woods . Woods was married to Chan Parker, the widow of Charlie Parker, for seventeen years. On the morning of September 29, 2015, great teacher Phil Woods passed away after a long battle with pulmonary emphysema. The meeting had ended and Y/n was full of questions as well as clear opinions on the park. The meeting had consisted of mostly appealing to endorsers rather than the actual functions of the park. A business representative of InGen and the Hammond Foundation stood up on the stage talking about things such as what funding would do for the park and how globally impactful their contributions would be. The speakers had essentially summed up their colorful talk with the conclusion that investors would not be giving money to the park, but to their own future, because the park would supposedly triple their investments. Y/n didn't care to hear about such details, if anything they would only be put down as negative comments in her review. Mr. Masrani had stood from his seat and walked to the stage where he announced that the tour would begin shortly.

"We now have a personal tour available for VIP park goers. A tour that is led, by yours truly. To fully see what you will be investing in I would like to demonstrate this personal tour."

A group of Jurassic World workers came out from the back and began passing headsets to the people in the meeting room.

He then was handed a headset and battery pack from a Jurassic World employee before putting it on and tapping the headset mic.

"Can you hear me?" He smiled.

Y/n and the rest of the meeting attendees were then escorted through tall double doors that had been unveiled by a curtain, Mr. Masrani in the lead.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Mr. Masrani said, "our first stop will be the John Hammond Creation lab. Here visitors can see our very own dinosaurs being made. Each specimen is unique and different, all special in their own unique ways."

The group proceeded down a long hallway. Mr. Masrani had said these were like backstage doors that employees use to move around the park quicker. It was easier than having to travel through hordes of excited travelers. It also kept the group out of the heat, an attribute Y/n was thankful for.

Upon entering the creation lab Y/n was splendidly surprised to see that no visitors were in the corridors.

"The creation is temporarily closed for now, as we are in here for the tour, but when we move on to our next stop it will be open again."

Y/n observed through the glass as she watched the scientists take notes and press buttons on computers. Others held syringes and injected them into tubes. Somewhere operating machines. There were white machines mixing chemicals together, but what intrigued Y/n the most, were the white tables full of nests. They had eggs in them. Dinosaur eggs. Real, dinosaur eggs. Nearly forgetting her professionalism Y/n had to refrain from pushing herself up against the glass to take a closer look at them.

"My lead scientist Dr. Henry Wu will be joining us for this part of the tour."

Upon his name being called a man stepped out from behind the glass walls, a smile on his face. "Hello everyone, as Mr. Masrani said I am Dr. Henry Wu. Lead scientist of Jurassic World."

He then went into a spiel about dinosaur genetics and the creation of dinosaur DNA that nearly sounded rehearsed. Y/n did not need to listen to his dumbed down version of dinosaur genetic history, she heard enough of it from her father and college professors. Dr. Wu's eyes were scanning the crowd as he spoke, making sure to have direct eye contact with each individual. When his eyes did not meet with Y/n's, as she was staring through the glass at the eggs, he lingered for a bit more on her face before pausing his rehearsed lines.

"Dr. Grant."

Hearing her name called she looked towards the front to see Dr. Wu staring directly at her.

Henry addressed her again. "I didn't know we would be visited by such a renowned guest. You seem to be taking an interest in the eggs.” He gave her a modest grin.

Taken aback to being singled out of the crowd Y/n cleared her throat and replied. "Yes Dr. Wu, they intrigue me very much. It's astounding to see how far in technology we have come."

"Indeed Dr. Grant we have." Henry turned to Simon. "Mr. Masrani, you all came just in time for the hatching of one of our new triceratops. If it's all the same to you I would like Dr. Grant to join me in the lab for this special occasion."

With a nod of his head Mr. Masrani replied, "If she is willing, I don’t see any harm in doing so."

Of course the two men only had one thing in mind and it wasn't for Y/n to enrich her knowledge as a paleontologist, but rather to increase her good review on the park as an author. Out of all the people attending the park her review would be the one of the most highly respected and anticipated accounts yet. They had no choice but to ensure the park would get high ratings from her.

"Dr. Grant?" Dr. Wu turned back to her for approval.

Stunned by the conversation she just witnessed and the grand opportunity offered, she almost stuttered a reply. “I’m truly honored. I would be delighted.”

Dr. Wu nodded his head. “Right this way.” He gestured to the door he came from.

Y/n stepped forward into the lab with Dr. Wu trailing behind her. The lab was a marvel, that was obvious. Its stark white with blue accents suited the mood. There were shelves of plants, amphibians, and reptiles lining the far walls. Flat screens hung on the walls with x-rays of what looked to be a scanning of something on the cellular level. It was a busy room to say the least. Assistants carrying test tubes and doctors on computers conversing with their peers. It was a sight to behold, but nothing compared to the incubator Y/n was guided to.

Y/n’s mind began to spiral as she tried to memorize every detail of the sight in front of her. The incubator had 19 rounded out slots with a heating lamp directly above the eggs. They were off-white and rather awkwardly round in shape, but beautiful nonetheless. Some eggs were lightly dusted with spots; some were bigger than the rest. Compared to the other incubators in the room, these eggs were small. If Y/n didn’t know better she would think they were chicken eggs. A wave of something Y/n could only describe as pure pride washed over her, drenching her in emotion so vivid that it was hard to hide. For nearly all of her adult life she had worked and studied to finally live up to this moment, a moment that she earned. There were no other words that Y/n could think to convey what she was feeling other than astounded. Her heart began to beat fast with anticipation as questions and hypotheses flooded her head. What temperature do the eggs need to properly develop? How are the eggs conceived? Do Jurassic World scientists gather the eggs themselves? How long are the eggs incubated? When will they hatch? Who imprints on them when they are hatched?

Just as she thought her would beat out of her chest, it stopped. It was just barely there, but it was visible. A tiny crack, followed by a bigger one, then another, and another, until a little foot poked out. After that came the beak. Y/n was in awe as the hatchling began to claw its way out the egg.

“It’s beautiful,” was all she could say.

Noah Fun Facts "Lets try Not To be TOO Depressing" Edition:

I went around and around trying to think of an explation for Noah's Mother (He had to come out of SOMEONE, right?) that was not totally depressing and eventually decided that Noah is literally one of those sci-fi designer babies where they mess around with the DNA to create the Ideal Heir ala Miranda from Mass Effect. At least, That's what the 'Doctor' at the DNA Lab told Gozaboro Kaiba. Thing is, that kind of technology is only just being Pioneered by the likes of InGen and Dr. Henry Wu is an expensive man to poach but a much less expensive man to imitate, so the guy who 'made' Noah instead put on a big show with a lab and people in white coats and organs in tubes, and convinced Gozaboro he could produce his genetically perfected Heir. You know. For a Fee. Science Ain't Cheap. Once Gozaboro's deposit cleared, the doctor went to the local orphanage, picked out a suitable-looking baby that was approximately the right shape, size etc. and gave the baby as much early education and good nutrition as possible for a year before handing him over as a "timeline-enhanced" toddler. Sorry about the green hair. It's connected to the loci for neuroplasticity and good teeth. A brunette just wouldn't be quite as sharp or have such a charming smile. The moment the final check cleared, Doc vanished off to parts unknown.

In reality, Noah's family is from New Jersey.

Despite his humble-if-obscured beginnings, Noah was healthy as a proverbial horse and if he hadn't, You know, been Uploaded into some kind of Torment Nexus and left in a permanent state of prepuesence, would have grown up to be almost as tall as Seto and Rakishly Handsome, if unable to ever grow a proper beard.

Noah wasn't allowed a lot of books or other media for children, but another CEO of some entertainment company that had an interest in Gozaboro's virtual reality technology once gifted Noah some vintage comic books. Ostensibly, he was annoyed by such a Juvenile gift, but they WERE entertainingly manic. In his boredom in virtual solitude, he eventually recreated the protagonist of the comics as a sort of Court Jester, unaware of the dangers of engaging with beings with Narrative.

Funny Bunny, for his part is getting kinda fed up with this Nimrod.

Imagine having feelings for Dr. Henry Wu and trying to get him to stop the experiments.

You were just an intern, a University student working on their final thesis to get their Masters, working under Dr. Wu. But he had always treated you as someone more than just the intern. While other people your age who got these positions were being told to fetch coffee, Dr. Wu was really putting effort into teaching you things. Important things that you would need on the job. He even started to ask that you just call him Henry, something most of his other co-workers didn’t get.

The rumors circulated long before they ever came true. Before Dr. Henry Wu showed you any sort of affection, people were speculating about it. Long before your first kiss when you were assisting him long after everyone else went home, despite it not being appropriate.

At first, you thought of him as a brilliant mentor. Working at Jurassic Park was amazing. These were experiences that you couldn’t get anywhere else in the entire world. But after that initial kiss, you started to see him as more, as a man rather than a Doctor. It was a hard fall. A fast fall. But because you were working under him, you had to be careful, keep it low, at least until your internship was over. It could affect your whole future if people found out.

But so could what eventually happened. The dinosaurs. They were starting to hurt people. Dr Wu’s experiments, all that he had worked for. It was coming to a bad end. “Henry,” You said, running into his office as soon as you heard what was going on. “We need to stop. Pull the plug. It isn’t safe. They’re not just science anymore, they’re monsters.”

“Monster is a relative term,” Henry said calmly, collecting all of his research. “To a canary, a cat is a monster. We’re just used to being the cat.”

“People are dying, Henry. Please,” You said, taking his hands to try to plead with him. Making him drop his papers which made him annoyed. He looked at you with a scorned expression for the first time. “Please,” You said again.

“All of this exists because of me. I can innovate. I can learn from this, and do better-”

You looked at him, feeling more disappointed than you ever had before. It felt like he didn’t care about people anymore. People in general. Not just you.

“Well I’m getting out of here. I wish you would come with me.”

“I can’t leave everything.”

You lingered a moment longer. There were more sounds. People screaming. Feet stomping. And you finally left - though not without leaving some of your heart behind.
