"Y/N, right? Yup, exactly how you were described." Well, how am I supposed to take this? I know, my so-called brother, Daryl made sure that I sound like an alien off straight from Mars.
"Probably less worse." I say, rolling my eyes as she lets out a chuckle. "I'm Mia Vlademir." She extends her hand as I take it shaking lightly. "Y/N Robins."
She scans her eyes up and down at my casual t-shirt and denim jeans with a pair of puma sneakers. "You look typical..? I'm not sure if you've seen those pairs of high heels, real short shorts, miniskirts or exoposingly above-knee dresses." I give her a look which makes her let out a nervous laugh, shaking her head.
"No, I'm not judging anyone. I'm just talking about you. I'm not so extra myself." I nod my head, hinting with my disinterest for her to change the discussion. She takes my hand, walking into the enterance gates.
My eyes scan the campus around. Quite decent, not as gloomy as I thought. I haven't seen it in real 'cause my interview was online and Daryl finished all the admission procedures until I'm done with my moving out mess.
"Your HOT brother has said couple things about you, including : awfully straight forward, sarcastic and intolreant." Yup, of course, what else have I expected HIM to say?
"Nonsense intolreant, pardon." She chuckles, nodding. "Well, if you're so, then I've got some people warnings to establish with you." I stay silent, listening to her 'warnings'.
"So, there's that squad : Ruby Cullens, the head of it, with her on-off boyfriend Taylor Williams, her so-called bestfriend Tiara Grahams which's the head of dancers." Well, so high school-ey. "On-off? Why, a transistor?" She gives me a look of confusion. Worst thing in joking is having to explain it, ugh.
"BECAUSE a transistor gives on-off signals to the computer which's interpretted as zero's and one's." Mia gives me an eye roll, licking her lips to continue.
"Don't get involved with them or comment on anything they do. A week or so, you'll find Ruby turning the whole college into a funeral for a 'break-up' with Taylor." I nod, telling her I understand what she says.
"But, there's someone more probelmatic than them..."
"Yeah, give me something more than a squad of brats and bullies." I say, rolling my eyes, looking over at the campus around.
I see a group of three, entering the campus as if they're Gigi Hadid on a runway. Well, all apologies to Gigi Hadid for such a metaphor. Students clear their path in some sort of acquired respect. I can't help, but feel my nose scrunch up in dislikening.
That Taylor catches my stare, leaning in to a girl with a red-dyed hair making her look over at me, arching an eyebrow. She mutters something which I can lip-read it as 'bitch'.
"Y/N, 20 seconds pass on my freaking warnings and you get the three of them staring at you like a bunch of predators!"
Before I protest to Mia's unnecessary fear, I notice them approaching.
"Oh, crap! That's Ruby. We're done."
The red-haired walks down the hall until she reaches mine and Mia's spot.
Her heels click on the marble floor as she chews on her gum, eyeing me up and down in...disgust? She's wearing tons of makeup that I can't even imagine her natural features.
She tilts her head to the side, folding her arms to her chest. "You must be a newbie to stare like that, right?" I look at Mia who's practically clutching on my back as I feel her breath quickening in panic. I prefer not to answer that high-pitched voice that if it got louder, it'll gives ringing ears for a week.
"Haven't I asked you, bitch?!" Unfortunately, her voice raised. She catches Mia behind me, smirking evilly. "Oh, little Mia, shouldn't you have told newbie about us? And how much of a pretty UNbruised copy you're of your sister?" What? Wait, what? What did she just say?
"You, too, newbie, I hope you won't be a bruised copy of your siblings."
"21st century is disappointing nowadays, you know? People take pride into violence and bullying. I don't know what they're lacking in themselves to hide by being like that, do you?"
I say, making it quite clear that I'm not buying the cuss-and-scare show this girl is all about. The Ruby balls her fists, approaching slowly, "You dumb f*cking sl*t!"
I take Mia's hand and start taking side steps, protecting our backs to the wall, hopping like two bunnies. Yes, I'm scared that she'd beat us both up, but that doesn't mean that I'll back off and keep my mouth shut about this whole crap going on.
"YOU BOTH ARE FUCKED!" She yells at the top of her lungs as I quicken my steps along with Mia, until we reach an office's door.
Ruby lifts her hand, ready to slap when...
"MS. MCADAMS! Good morning , Ma'am." We burst in, almost landing on the floor with our fronts, immediately standing uprightly in respect. The dean eyes us both, lowering her glasses down her nose bridge alittle. "Can I help you, girls?" She asks, exchanging glances at both of us.
"Yeah, yeah, we just wanted to ask if it's okay to make little changes in our courses schedule." I say, glancing at Mia who's lowkey shaking. "Yeah, just the lectures' timings not the courses themselves, right?" I nod.
"Write your names with your IDs here. Register on the university's website online. It'll be avaliable between 5 to 10 in the evening." I thank her, writing my name on the handed paper, passing the pen to Mia as she writes her name and ID, too. We hand her the paper as she nods as a sign for us to leave.
Though, I wanted to review my schedule and now going to make it compaitable with Mia. I'm not primarily here for this; I've to inform the dean about Ruby and her squad.
"Well, ladies, you may excuse yourselves." Mia looks at my standing figure while I'm arranging what I'm about to say.
"Ms. McAdams, I want to inform you about something real urgent." She looks at me focusingly, completely taking off her glasses.
"Ruby Cullens and her squad, Taylor Williams and Tiara Grahams are bullies, of verbal and physical incidents. They cause absolute unnecessary fear for the students. Five minutes before we're here, she threatened us and was extremely disrespectful, calling us names," I pause, observing the dean's expression. I find her, willingly, listening making me go on.
"I don't really get why students aren't speaking about that, even though they've the complete right to report her doings and cause her a serious charge for that. Fear of their so-called 'established authorization' and 'powerful parents' whatsoever, should never be a hinder for a serious issue. If no one reported her before, I'm joyfully presenting as the first reporting her, ma'am. I hope someone would acknowledge this problem."
The dean gives me a smile with tilted head.
"Thanks Y/N. I'm definitely passing this to the main supervision and put an end to the proble they're causing." I nod, thanking her as we leave the office.
I walk beside Mia who's awfully silent, checking the lecture halls' numbers for our nearly starting lecture.
"Well, if you're so brave, then fear Jeon JungKook. Challenge him, for that he'd give you a free ticket straight to hell and 99% is that it's a one-way ticket. Reporting him to the dean, president, anyone, that'd be a chocolate cookie for him. I hope you never encounter him." Mia says emotionlessly looking straight on her path.
The way she's described this JungKook scared me alittle.
"He's our age?" I ask, seemingly indifferent.
"No, he's in his third year. A mafia, 100% fuckboy, ruthless, dirty-mouthed, a rumour say that he killed his father, owns a gun and miraculously, a straight A student. Girls for him are sex toys, he always sexualizes us. Look into his eagle eyes, you either see mischief, devilshness or even death dancing in them. If I've to hate anyone till the rest of my life, I'd hate him."
Well, she isn't lying at that point 'cause she's talking about him with so much resentment.
"Anyways, is your conservative ass up to a party this weekend?" She asks as we settle next to each other in the first bench. "Well, it depends on the purpose of that party." She rolls her eyes, sighing.
"A welcome to the academic year party. Everyone will be there. Will be held at Taehyung's mansion. He's one of JungKook's besties and the closest, so don't get involved with him, too." I nod, taking out my books.
"I'll be there. Let's see what kind of people do we have in this college." I say in not so much interest. "You ain't a big fan of parties, are you?" She asks, chuckling.
"Not a fan of alcohol and its consequences. People gettin' drunk, say and do stuff in absolute absence of mind and common sense, whether embarrass or expose themselves with, and mornings' regrets and hangovers,"
Mia was about to say something when I continue my apparently roast to nowadays' concept of parties.
"Or the dancing part, when two complete strangers shamelsssly grind on each other and dance 'sexily', worse, end up in some sort of a meaningless, merely lustful hook up. Nah uh, not my cup of tea."
Mia stares at me, eyes slightly wide and furrowed eyebrows. "Are you THAT trauamtized from parties?" I roll my eyes, shaking my head no.
"Daryl is a hell of a party person. Unfortunately, he managed to involve me in most of these parties, so I practically saw everything."
She nods, giggling as the professor steps into the hall. We both direct our focus on him with silence dominating the atmosphere.
》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》
The week flew by, with tons of lectures, assignments, computer science concepts swirling around our heads. Simply, hectic, confusing and intentionally proving our stupidity.
Not to mention, the weekend arrived and now, I'm at the 'party.'
Which I shall mention, not my thing at all. Lowkey regretting coming here, y'all.
"Casual pants, a black hoodie, free hair, make-up free face, at a party? SERIOUSLY, Y/N?!"
Ignore Mia.
We're here at the Taehyung's mansion, everyone is already drinking and dancing with an extremely nasty and disgusting song on, which I unfortunately recognize as Jvla - Such a Whore song. Ew, for real, I'm uncontrollably disgusted and cringing over all of this crap, going on.
"I want to go home away from all of this crap!" I snap loudly at Mia who gives me a "Are you nuts?" look. "Y/N, you're 10 minutes into this and already snapping?" I tsk as I walk over to a cornered couch away from the smells, the dirty talk, and just all of this.
I swear to God if someone of those bastards thought of approaching me, I'll flip them up.
"Hey, shawty."
Now, here we go.
"GET THE HECK AWAY FROM ME, YOU PIECE OF DRUNK, SHAMELESS CRAP!"
I yell as he backs off, seriously startled at my blow up. I'm holding my tongue away from polluting it with some real bad swears that suit this bunch of embarrassing humans.
Some seems to have noticed my blow up as an asian guy with black hair long to his nape and a boxy, flirtious smile walks up to my direction.
"Shit! Shit, Y/N! You got Taehyung approaching!" Mia panicks for the nth time, seeing that dude approaching us.
"Well, hello, beauty. Someone is pretty salty about the party, huh." I shoot him an up-and-down look, arching an annoyed eyebrow.
I'mma throw hands, right here, right now.
"Yo, listen here, party brat, I'm here to see what kinda humans I associated myself with by joining this damned college. So, if your blown-down head has given you the enough audacity to even IMAGINE that I'mma get myself drollin' over your aura or whatsoever, then go bang your head in the nearest wall. Now this talk of mine implies a serious sign of....BACK THE HELL OFF!"
The Taehyung straightens his posture, scanning me with a surprised look. What, he hasn't gotten used to girls rejecting him.
"Wow, I like this one." I hear him, whispering to himself as he smirks. "But, nah, not my type. I know someone who suits you prefectly." He whistles sharply, apparently to somone especially.
A whistle responds back as a tall, all black-dressed, black hair brushed to the sides (the hair style up there), eagle eyes, rosey lips, ringed, with a mole underneath, arched left eyebrow and a smirk which satan would be jealous of.
I realize that this the warned-about Jeon.
"JK, I've got you a cake. A cake which comes once in a blue moon." He says, eyeing me up and down in a way that disgust me even more. I tsk again, rolling my eyes, seriously annoyed.
The Jeon eyes me like a predator with a wider smirk, rolling his tongue on his lip ring, chuckling darkly.
"Y/N, Y/N, oh my God, Y/N." Mia panicks for real as she stands up, taking quick steps afar from the couch.
That coward!
"Hmm, such a fiesty, huh? What got you screaming around, non-nakedly?" My eyes widen at his offending question. Do these guys know nothing but sexual crap?!
I stand up abruptly, backing away from his face which was a few inches away from mine.
"Sense of dignity and respect! Not like y'all, senseless, offensive and notorious!" I answer back, balling my fists in extreme distress. He raises his eyebrows sarcastically, chuckling again.
"It's been awhile since I've come across this hard-to-get play. Mostly, it was hard-to-rid-off. But, oh, I will to play along. C'mon, cinamonn roll, show me your sexiness." I bite my lower lip even harder, almost bruising it, as I tilt my head in anger.
"Hard-to-get, huh? For what purpose, I wonder? Fancy you?! Tsk, too bad I'm not into crap that everybody knows how it tastes!" I snap much louder, for him to hear each bite I attack him with.
Music dies down as everyone stays still and stiff, watching the quarrel going on. I'm beyond furious and I'm ready to humiliate, blind of all his dignitiy and feelings.
He stays silent, eyes turning from playful to dark and angry.
"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?!" He immediately grabs my hair into his fist as I yelp, holding onto his hand, digging my nails into them.
"I'm talking to someome who's gonna die alone, have people gloating over his death, and even spit on his grave! I'm talking to someone who people would be happy for his death as much as Ted Bundy's!" I yell with even more fury, struggling under his grip.
A gasp leaves some mouths as he looks down at me in kind of a shock. I, myself, am kinda surprised. I do bite back, but not this furious, not this harsh. But, the horrible stories going around him and his friends being told make me develop that attacking mode towards them. I don't want to end up dead, my reputation ruined, or as they call 'one of their countless bitches.'
"You're fucking dead, bitch!" He murmurs in a tone that sent a chill down my spine. I keep struggling with my moves making him tighten his grip on my hair.
"You know what? I had the smallest bit of pathetic hope that y'all would be 1% better than described, but guess what? You're freaking worse! Laying your hands on a girl for rejecting your offensive approaches, how gentleman!" I add, not able to control the words in my head.
Yes, I did, I did hope its rumours, but didn't expect them to be any much better. My brother suffered from false rumours, so I was ready to defend them if they were any good, but can't help, but feel disappointed.
Surprisingly, he lets go of my hair as I straighten up, backing away hurriedly. I look at him, questioning his silence. I thought he'd blow up even more, but he's staring at me in a way I can't explain. He looks....
Disappointed? Ashamed?
No, no, someone like him would never.
But, who am I to judge that much? I don't even know him.
But, yeah people's sayings, Y/N!
No, people lies much, Y/N, you witnessed that.
Now, my head is full contradictions, questions and confusion.
I feel bad for what I said 'cause after all I'm in no place to humiliate someone like that. And let's think in his shoes, now his so-scary aura is quite bruised from what I've done, especially that he didn't harm me much. Yes, he pulled my hair, yelled and all, but still not the violent reaction some might have expected out of him.
"Y/N, please. Let's just go! Please." Mia pleads whispering, behind me while I'm staring at Jeon. But, something is holding me from moving. There's no way I hurt his feelings that much, right? I don't regret standing up for myself, but did I overreact?
"Y/N! Let's just GO!" Mia raises her voice, growing more anxious. His silence is scaring everyone, but I'm reading it differently.
"Learn to respect, to be respected. If it wasn't for your reputation and earlier approach, I wouldn't have said anything." I say those last words quietly, more like I'm blaming him and turn around leaving the place.
"Party dismissed." I hear in the background Taehyung's voice in the mic as we reach down the street.
I stop a taxi, getting me and Mia inside as I tell him the directions to Mia's dormitory which happens for my apartment to be 15 minutes away from it.
"You...you faced JungKook that way. You said all of that to JungKook. Y/N, you're fucking nuts. He's gonna end you, there's no way he's leaving any of us alone. He might use me as a bait to just pressure on you. My life was fucked up enough, I didn't need YOU to get me involved with these people because you had to act like a hero!"
She blames me angerily as I look over at her.
"Listen, if you choose cowardness and fear to avoid your problems, then let them grow even stronger and swallow you whole." I say in gritted teeth, turning my face to the window.
10 minutes pass slowly as I see the dorm in sight. Mia storms out of the taxi, looking at me.
"Don't ever think of befriending me, okay?! You're trouble and I don't need shit!" She shoots me a middle finger and turns to run up the stairs to the building.
"Go straight to the end of the street, take the U-turn and turn right afterwards, please. I'll pay for both rides." The driver nods as he drives off to the direction.
》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》
A month has passed by, peacefully. Never encountered JungKook or his besties, but they were attending their lectures, labs and all. Heard about their attendance from students whispering about them. No particular scandals, no drama except for Ruby's and her squad.
For me and Mia, it's just cold stone, she made it into the absolute obvious that she wants nothing to do with me. I've known couple others, who recognized me from the party. I tried to verify some of the stories told about JungKook, specifically, but turns out that no one does really know anything for sure.
That makes me question all the things mostly Mia said about JungKook. She spoke about him with so much certainity that I believed her instantly. Now, I doubt everything and regret what I said in the party, especially, that he didn't come at me or hurt me or use her as a bait or anything from whatsoever she said.
I close my notebook, putting it to the bedside, grabbing my phone to turn on the alarms for me to wake up early for studying as it's exams' seasons.
I switch off the lights, sliding open the window enjoying the cold breeze, putting on my socks. I lay on my bed, pulling my blanket to my chin, closing my eyes.
JungKook has occupied alot of my mind's space and I don't even know if my overthinking getting me anywhere. If I ever get to meet him again, I'll try to resolve the incident 'cause I, yes, stand up for myself, but hate hurting people's feelings and what makes me think that he's worth a resolution is the look he gave me back there. His silence, his eyes, it's like his anger had vanished, pulling the curtains open to something deeper inside him.
Or am I dramatizing this much?
I don't even know anymore.
