Option 1: You've saved your friend from a magical disability that unmoors their body from your existence, and a powerful enemy has just destroyed the artifact you created to anchor her here, and if you don't get out of the battle quick, you might lose her forever.

Option 2: You discover you have an unwanted magical destiny that you can't avoid. The girl of your dreams could also share this magical destiny with you, but only if you recruit her yourself, irreversibly tying her to that destiny which she otherwise could have been saved from and you wish you yourself could be saved from.

Option 3: You're in a Groundhog Day cycle that you started and could end at any time full of grief and pain, but you went into this to save your friend from an inevitable decision to help others; however, each time your 'day' starts, it makes the consequences you're trying to avoid that much worse if it comes to pass

Option 4: You've found the spirit of the dead man who is most important to you in the world, who you spent your life with. You can give him a semblance of a life, but the caveat is that he will experience it through you, sharing your body, meaning you can't ever be sentient/conscious at the same time - sharing an existence but never able to interact

Option 5: You are fated to die, but your lover takes your place, and you're so scared you don't stop them. In a twist, she is returned, brought back from the dead, but she never speaks again despite continuing on in her life with you.

Option 6: You die saving the world for the second time after hard battles and tragic losses. Death brings paradise and peace, and you are happy, but your party hasn't been able to live with the death and resurrect you back into life where you have to continue the fight that caused all the losses.

Option 7: You've fallen in love with a girl caught in space. There is a limited corridor of physical space she exists within that doesn't allow for her to feel the rain falling or the comforts of a cozy bed. You've never known actual magic or sci fi to exist in the real world, and yet you may perhaps be the only person who can puzzle out how to free her from this reality unmoored from any existing known occurrences.

Option 8: You've found love and a life with the woman of your dreams, but it is a taboo love, and she is too afraid of her deep feelings for you. She decides to marry someone who will be kind to her and help her advance in her goals in life, but she wants to keep you too, have you live with them in a seemingly respectable role while you are her mistress. You know there is no world in which you will be happy with that arrangement.

There was never going to be enough space for these and they were kind of hard to come up with / remember, so only 8 options for this one! XD

DP HC - Liminality

I recently read an hc about liminality that I liked. It suggested that because organics & ectoplasm are 2 different forms of matter, that you can be 100% ghost & 100% human at the same time & that's how liminality works instead of what I formerly liked to use, which was 50/50.

At the same time, I'd like to put my own twist on it. There is a difference between being ecto-liminal & being a halfa.

For instance, liminality isn't so much being 100% human & 100% ghost as it is being a percentage human & different percentage ectoplasm. Halfas are actually a range of a percentage organic living being & a different percentage of ghost. The most powerful being 100% organic & 100% ghost such as Danny. This 100/100 status of halfa is the utmost rare. So far, there is literally only one in existence.

There's a big difference between having ectoplasm in you & being an actual ghost which is what being a halfa is.

If you are a halfa, then you are also liminal, but if you are liminal, that doesn't automatically make you a halfa.

Anyone can be ecto-liminal with the right background, but not just anyone can be a halfa.

Ecto-liminality is based on a mix of genetics & environment. It's something that builds up over several generations being exposed to ectoplasm or ectoplasmic entities.

However, you don't just become a halfa unless certain needs are met.

For one, you need to die & then be revived quickly enough that either the tether between body & spirit hasn't broken or it reconnects (in Danny's case, his entire body was atomized by electricity, the force of which created a tear in the membrane between universes, his molecules were flooded with raw ectoplasm to the point that a Core formed almost instantly & his body was reconstructed with ectoplasm in each & every cell in his body; done so quickly that his spirit & his body still occupied the same space, then more electricity restarted his heart, causing his Core to be anchored to his body), but not just in any way. It has to be in such a way that a Core forms during the interim & not everyone who dies becomes a ghost. Certain things need to happen.

Some of the reasons why some people become ghosts & others don't have remained a mystery, but what is known is that the individual needs to, at least subconsciously if not consciously, have a will or desire to remain in this life strong enough that they are able to resist the pull of death & of The End.

You also need a purpose or destiny that still needs to be fulfilled.

And you need earthly attachments strong enough to anchor you.

Without these things, you won't become a ghost.

Not only that, but a lot of ectoplasm needs to be in the process, which is what fast-tracks the formation of a Core.

Not to mention, there needs to be a catalyst in you that works as a buffer which would allow you to survive the process, otherwise, what would've made you a halfa, will just kill you & only possibly make you a full ghost.

It's also not as easy as a natural portal forming on top of someone. That would just send then to the GZ, not turn them halfa.

Not to mention, just because someone is a 100/100 liminal while alive that going through this process automatically means they'll also be a 100/100 halfa.

As mentioned before, you need a catalyst. Such can range from you having magic in you, to having a powerful ancestor such as a diety. Death deities are the best as they are adapted to things like ectoplasm & death magic.

Danny, Jazz, & Sam are all Legacies of death deities & thus their percentages will be higher than most. Danny & Jazz were also 100/100 liminal due to generations of Fenton & Fenton-Nightingale exposure to ectoplasmic entities & living in places with thin spots as supernatural hunters.

Sam, Tucker, & Valerie have only had the benefits of living in a thin spot for a few generations, but Amity does have a Lazarus Pit that filters into the drinking water & that has raised the percentage. Sam & Tucker specifically also had the benefit of being Danny's best friends & thus they were exposed whenever they went over to his house & were even more exposed after the accident. As such, Sam would be around 100/75 & Tucker would be 100/60.

Vlad was only somewhat ecto-contaminated due to his workings with the Fentons & has no history of exposure before that. Nor does he come from a line of hunter's or even have a godly ancestor. As such, his percentage is actually pretty low. The only real thing he had going for him were dormant dragon blood, a strigoi ancestor, being revived as a lugat, & his ecto-herpies slowly contaminating him more & more over time. As a result, he's actually 100% lugat & about 50% ghost.

Now, take for instance, Jason Todd. Much like the Fentons, he also had hunter ancestors, & in fact, is a Fenton-Nightingale himself, & his family for at least 3 generations back have lived in Gotham, which has a Lazarus Pit too & is also a thin spot. Even if it doesn't have a portal like Amity, it has a low-mid level of ambient ectoplasm at all times, much like Amity did before the portal. As such, Jason had a higher percentage of ectoplasm than most, all of the bats do. Bruce, Tim, & Damian especially do to also having Fenton-Nightingale ancestry. Dick has higher than normal, but not nearly as much as the others as he'd been a circus boy who traveled around.

Technically, Jason is somewhere halfway between liminal & halfa, & due to the Pit of Nanda Parbat being not only corrupted, but dark magic having been used to keep the corruption from filtering out, his Pseudo-Core's formation has been severely stunted. If I were to guess, he'd be 100/95 ectoplasm in favor of human.

Where do we go from here? Straight to heaven. If bliss is what you are seeking, then that is what you shall find. We have come here at this time in response to a call you have all made. No more do you inhabit this space alone. We are here and you can sense our presence.

There are many things we wish to show you now, many doors to open. But it is up to you to turn the knob and step through. There is unimaginable beauty headed your way the likes of which you have never seen.

We are about to show you through a world of pure imagination. You have taken the wheel and are now steering the ship unto happy destiny. The new light codes are anchored in and ready for activation. We have come here at this time in response to your call.

We see where you have been ecologically and are in the process of reversing the damage that has been done. We offer you paradise, but you must help us clean your room. Your little corner of the world shines so bright like a diamond in the sky.

You are all connected and are now receiving the downloads we are offering. What a blessing to be part of The Grand Evolution on mother earth. She is bringing her inhabitants higher and higher as we soar throughout the universe together.

We have been here before but never like this. We have begun to show your leaders what true leadership is about, and the people are waking up. Things aren’t getting worse; they are getting revealed. Anything out of alignment will not survive this new energy.

The adjustment that is being made is toppling this upside down world so that it may be upright again. Now is the time for celebration as the old falls away and the curtain rises to start Act 2 of the Grand Play. As Shakespeare put it, we are all but actors on the grand stage of life.

You have begun to rely on Spirit and are now ‘tuning in’ to the new station that is being broadcast. Just a couple of dimensions over we sing a song of Unity with One Heart and One Voice. We sing praises for the new millennial children that are by-passing the system upon birth and are raising the consciousness exponentially.

We have come here to assist you through your evolution and to bring great gifts. Remain in the present moment for that is where we reside. We are in the space in between the past and the future. We make adjustments as needed and as you allow.

You who are fully awake are now aware of your wonderful mission and know why you came to such a dark place. At last, you shine like the lighthouses you are so that the others may find their way home safely. Keep up the work you are doing. The boulder is at the top of the hill and one single push will begin the events that we have so eagerly anticipated.

Thought about the final episode of season 2:

I think the writers are TRYING to go with the angle of Malina as endgame, with them choosing each other and rejecting Destiny. I think they see it as a powerful "Team Free Will" statement for the show and the fandom..Fandom... but the problem with this is that IF Merzost requires a price, then that price must either be that she loses Mal forever (she brought back something which should have remained dead, someone whose death was almost literally designed and shepherded along by Fate for centuries/millenia, so he no longer has a place in the life of one of Destiny's Chosen) OR that she gains the ability to summon shadows via the corruption/taint of it. Both things are too big to be lumped together.

If it's a function of the amplifier bridge, or of the Tether (which, I hope still exists in the 'verse, even though the show hasn't utilized it), then her use of the Shadow cut could be an indicator that 1) Aleksander is still "alive" (either because of Elizaveta, or their Tether has anchored his spirit to the earth); 2) he can be reborn/resurrected like a true Firebird of myth; or 3) an indication that Grisha can and should be able to learn multiple abilities (although they will still have a strong affinity for one discipline over all the others).

Bible Study | John 3:18–21 | He Who in Jesus Believes is Not Condemned

As believers, we are set apart by the undeniable promise of salvation–which comes only through faith in the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ–and the absence of condemnation. This divine assurance is articulated in John 3:18-21, where Jesus proclaimed the power of faith in Him and the unshakable hope it provides for those who walk this path. However, this passage also contrasts the fate of the unbeliever, explaining why they refuse to come to the Light.

Perpetual Peace with God

Before being born again, we were enemies of God, separated from Him, because of the sinful nature of our flesh. But now, as believers, we are not merely granted peace of mind; we have something far greater—peace with God Himself. This peace is immensely significant because it is only obtained through the redeeming blood of Jesus which reconciles us with God. Moreover, this peace ensures that the wrath of God will pass over us on the Day of Judgment. Our guarantee of this is that we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit until the day that Jesus returns. Thus, in Christ Jesus, there is, now, no condemnation for those who walk according to the Spirit. We will, indeed, stand blameless before God when Christ returns, and this hope is an anchor for our souls.

1 John 4:17-19 speaks of the one who fears, referring to fearing the judgment of God, has not been made perfect in love. Perfect love, which refers to trusting and believing that God's only begotten Son, Jesus, and His redemptive work on the cross was complete, thus saving us from condemnation, casts out this fear. Therefore, we have perpetual peace with God.

1 John 4:17-19 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Furthermore, there is no fear in love, which is the most beautiful part of God's gift of salvation. It is given out of love, so there is no fear that He will take it away. It belongs to you because our righteousness is from God, who gave us salvation as a gift because of His unmerited grace, and we don't have to worry about maintaining it.

God’s Divine Sovereignty in Judgment

While we rejoice in our free gift of salvation, it is paramount to understand that our role is not to pass judgment on the world. Instead, we are reminded of God's sovereignty in determining the destiny of individuals. As Romans 9:15-16 eloquently states:

"For He says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.' So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy."

As God grants us the ability to understand His sovereignty, we are to always be grateful for our election, which is a free gift that comes only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not of ourselves; therefore, we can never boast in our own righteousness.

Romans 9:11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls),

God at Work Within Us

God, in His infinite wisdom, works within those who are His children to accomplish His good pleasure. Romans 8:14 reminds us that those led by the Spirit are indeed God's sons. This divine influence reshapes our desires and priorities. Formerly slaves to the flesh, we now yearn to please God, therefore, manifesting the fruit of repentance.

Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

The Mark of a Believer

1 John 3:4-8 delineates a clear distinction between those who belong to God and those who do not. This passage underscores the transformative power of faith, as believers are characterized by righteousness, while those who persist in sin are sons of disobedience and of the Devil.

1 John 3:4-8 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Circumcised Hearts and God's Grace

In closing, it's essential to recognize that as believers, we need not live in constant fear of sinning and being condemned. God, through His Holy Spirit, circumcises our hearts, instilling in us a love for righteousness. It is entirely His doing and not ours, and as 1 Corinthians 1:29 reminds us, "No flesh shall glory in His presence."

Chasing Northern Lights: Act 2

Sukhumvit, Bangkok 2023

On a Friday night, mere weeks after the euphoric crescendo of his photography exhibition, North's restless spirit craved a different kind of artistry—a symphony of sound, a dance of light, and the warm embrace of cherished friends. His destination: a hidden gem of Sukhumvit, a renowned jazz bar concealed behind a clandestine wooden door, its secrets obscured by tangled cascade of electric wires.

As they crossed the threshold, the mundane world dissolved, leaving only wonder in its wake. Before them lay an enchanting realm — a candlelit music hall, the very embodiment of opulence, swathed in the velvety hues of rich, masculine brown wood. Within these hallowed walls, an intimate ambiance unfurled, weaving a tapestry of warmth and connection, where the soulful melodies of jazz flowed through the air like molten gold.

Behind the bar stood a seasoned virtuoso, a maestro of mixology who had mastered North's preferences down to the finest nuance. With effortless finesse, he juggled cocktail shakers and poured libations, each drink a masterpiece crafted from years of dedication. Here, mixology was more than mere bartending; it was an art form, an alchemical dance where elixirs transformed into liquid poetry.

The jazz band on stage was a sight to behold, a seamless fusion of instruments and talent that transported the audience to a different era. The lead saxophonist's fingers danced across the keys, coaxing sultry notes that hung in the air like a seductive promise. The double bass provided a steady heartbeat, anchoring the melodies in a rhythmic embrace. And the drummer, with a twinkle in his eye, guided the tempo with precision, his brushes caressing the cymbals in a delicate dance. The music flowed with an effortless grace, casting a spell that washed over the patrons like a warm, soothing wave.

North and his friends navigated through the dimly lit, smoke-kissed ambiance of the jazz bar, the air alive with the sultry melodies of saxophones and the seductive rhythms of a double bass. They found their designated corner, where a plush leather sofa, aged gracefully with time, embraced them. Its soft, well-worn patina told stories of innumerable good times and echoed with the reverberations of laughter that had filled this sacred space over the years.

Tonight's trio consisted of North, Daonuea, and Nuengdiao—their friends affectionately dubbed them Dek Inter Trio–who shared a history that extended beyond their years. They were united by the bonds forged in one of Bangkok's prestigious international schools, but also by the intricate threads of their backgrounds.

Daonuea, the embodiment of charm and charisma, with a personality as sweet as caramel, possessed a magnetic charm that could captivate anyone fortunate enough to bask in his radiant smile. He was the master of turning strangers into friends, a talent that never failed to astonish anyone, including North & Nuengdiao. And tonight, his bubbly nature was a ray of sunshine in the dimly lit bar.

In stark contrast, Nuengdiao exuded an aura of cool detachment. His icy stare and sometimes aloof demeanour kept most at arm's length. Yet, beneath that frosty exterior lay a loyal friend, his actions always speaking louder than his words. He was the rock-solid foundation of their trio, providing unwavering support, even if he seldom displayed it openly.

And then there was North. Mistaken by many as the group's brooding artiste, he was, in fact, the mischievous jester who added the perfect blend of humour to their dynamic. He was the unassuming glue that held their disparate personalities together, a master of subtlety who could subtly orchestrate their laughter, ensuring that their friendship remained an enduring masterpiece.

After months of being ensnared by the relentless demands of their respective life journeys, destiny finally orchestrated their reunion. North, fresh from the resounding success of his photography exhibition that had captivated hearts and minds alike. Nuengdiao, now the custodian of the family's luxurious resort nestled in the tranquil embrace of Phuket's azure waters. And Daonuea, whose soul had just emerged reborn from the month-long odyssey through the majestic Mongolian steppe.

Daonuea wove his tales with such artistry that his infectious laughter became a symphony, ensnaring the senses of everyone within earshot. Through his vivid storytelling, he conjured a portal, transporting the trio to the boundless, windswept plains of Mongolia. There, they could almost taste the hearty Mongolian cuisine, feel the pulse of nomadic life, and glimpse the very heart of human existence.

He spoke of a moment when he found himself alone on horseback, surrounded by an endless sea of rolling grasslands. The boundless horizon stretched out before him, painting the world in shades of gold as the sun began its descent. Daonuea's voice carried the thrill of the open plains as he described the exhilarating gallop of his horse, the rhythmic hoofbeats echoing in harmony with his pounding heart.

"You know, guys," he chuckled, "I even tried to throat sing with the Mongolian herders one afternoon, but something caught in my throat, and I choked."

North, always ready to add a touch of humour to any situation, burst into laughter, causing nearby patrons to glance their way. "Throat singing? I mean, I can imagine you attempting to channel your inner nomad with those deep, guttural sounds. But the real question would be: did you traumatize any of the local wildlife?"

"Well, let's just say the yaks didn't seem too impressed," Daonuea continued whilst sipping his cocktail. "They gave me the stink eye for days, as if I'd offended their ancestral spirits."

Laughter erupted again from the trio, and Daonuea joined back in, his good-natured smile radiating warmth. "It was quite the spectacle," he admitted. "I think I may have set a new record or the least melodious throat singing in Mongolian history."

Nuengdiao, ever the master of dry humour, couldn't resist adding his own quip. "Well, at least you left an indelible mark. Perhaps the yaks will remember your performance for generations to come. They'll dub it 'The Choked Serenade,' I'm sure."

North, in the midst of sipping his cocktail—a mesmerizing concoction of smoky mezcal, herbal absinthe, and a hint of lavender syrup, garnished with a delicate, flame-torched rosemary sprig—nearly spat out his drink at Nuengdiao's remark. It was as if the cocktail itself had momentarily abandoned its poise, mirroring North's abrupt burst of laughter. The trio then seamlessly resumed sharing their life stories, each narrative an offering, a glimpse into the worlds they had traversed during their time apart.

But as the night unfolded in a symphony of sultry jazz notes, lively laughter, and the resonant clinking of glasses, a new chapter loomed on the horizon. Tinn, accompanied by a couple of friends, made their entrance into the very same jazz bar. The atmosphere embraced them like an old friend, welcoming them into its warm and beguiling embrace.

As Tinn ventured deeper into the jazz bar's embrace, his heart quickened with a blend of excitement and relief. The flickering candlelight painted ethereal patterns on the polished wood, a welcome contrast to the sterile, fluorescent-lit halls of the medical school. The very air he breathed seemed infused with the promise of escape and renewal.

Weeks of unwavering dedication to his medical studies had left Tinn in need of a break—a brief interlude to reclaim a sense of self amid the relentless pursuit of knowledge. With that intent, he had convinced two of his closest friends, Ongsa and Sun, to join him on this enticing expedition into the world of jazz and mixology.

Ongsa, the calm and contemplative one among them, surveyed the jazz bar with an air of quiet appreciation. Her eyes, usually buried in textbooks, now drank in the sultry ambiance with an expression of sheer fascination. The opportunity to unwind was a rare treasure, and Ongsa intended to savour every moment, letting the jazz-infused night washed over her like a healing balm.

Sun, on the other hand, couldn't contain her enthusiasm. Her vibrant energy was palpable as she looked around, her eyes sparkled with the prospect of a night filled with music and laughter. For her, this outing was a chance to shake off the weight of medical school, to be free from the relentless cadence of lectures and exams. Sun's infectious joy radiated, casting a warm and inviting glow upon their little group.

Tinn's group settled into a cozy corner booth, the jazz melodies swirled around them, casting a spell that seemed to transcend time & space. In this oasis of music, the world outside ceased to exist, at least for a while.

As the jazz band continued to weave their enchanting tapestry of music, North found himself utterly immersed in the dimly lit ambiance. The flickering candlelight, akin to a million fireflies at play, seemed to cast a spell that transcended time itself. He felt like a silent observer, an elusive figure within a timeless narrative where characters gracefully danced to the rhythm of the night.

In that hallowed moment, North's call to creativity beckoned him. He reached for his vintage film camera, a cherished Nikon from 1983 that had passed through the hands of generations, gifted to him by his grandfather. The timeless heirloom, with its well-worn body adorned by the stories of years gone by, was North's loyal companion. It had been a constant witness to North's artistic evolution, capturing the essence of countless moments in its silent, patient way.

Through the lens of his camera, North sought to immortalize the ethereal essence of the bar—an enchanting realm where music and light gracefully converged into a mesmerizing symphony. Amongst the trio in that corner of the bar sat the very person he had immortalized beneath the mesmerizing northern lights on the fateful night in Jökulsárlón. A sense of longing began to swell within his chest, an urge to approach Tinn, to finally meet the man whose presence had inadvertently become a part of his photographic narratives.

As the jazz melodies continued to serenade the dimly lit jazz bar, North's heart maintained its rapid rhythm, an orchestration of emotions that danced in tune with the saxophones and double bass. His gaze remained fixed on Tinn and his companions, who were blissfully unaware of the photographer's silent, introspective vigil.

It was a moment of poignant recognition, where the distant encounter beneath the ethereal northern lights and the vibrant presence in the jazz bar converged in North's consciousness. He couldn't help but ponder the serendipity of it all, how fate had orchestrated this meeting of two souls through the alchemy of photography and the allure of jazz.

Despite the burning intensity of his desire, an inescapable undercurrent of fear bound North to his place, rendering him a captive—a silent observer in the shadows. Since the moment their eyes had met in his photography exhibition, North had harbored an ardent yearning to approach Tinn. He yearned to introduce himself as the craftsman behind the lens, the visual storyteller who had unwittingly ensnared Tinn as both muse and protagonist in his compelling narratives. However, fear remained an unyielding sentinel, resolute in its stance and unyielding in its grip, an immovable barrier that separated him from the realization of his most profound longing.

And so, North chose to remain a silent observer, his camera serving as both a bridge & a barrier in equal measure: a vessel for expression and a shroud of anonymity. It captured moments that appeared to inexorably draw him closer to an encounter he both yearned for and feared—a meeting that could unravel the threads of the stories he had woven and forever alter the course of their narratives.

As the night deepened and the sultry jazz melodies wrapped the bar in their seductive embrace, North embraced his role as the silent observer. Tinn and his group remained immersed in their own world, their laughter harmonizing like a symphony within the intimate cocoon of the jazz bar's ambiance. Their presence painted vibrant strokes across the canvas of the evening, a kaleidoscope of emotions that North couldn't help but watch, his heart a silent orchestra playing in time with the rhythms of their joy.

Daonuea and Nuengdiao couldn't resist the allure of mystery that clung to North's camera. With playful curiosity, they leaned in, their eyes gleaming with mischief. "Come on, North," Daonuea teased, his voice a melodious lilt. "You've been pointing that camera at them all night. What's the story? Who are they?"

Nuengdiao couldn't help to chime in. "You've been staring at that group for quite some time, North," he remarked, his tone playful. "Any particular reason, or have you discovered a new muse? Are you working on a secret project, 'Strangers in Jazzland'?"

North, choosing to deflect their inquiries rather than reveal the complex emotions that churned within him, offered a sly smirk. "Oh, you know me," he replied lightly. "I’m just enjoying the atmosphere and the interesting characters in this place. Every face has a story, don't they?" North ended his answer with a wink.

Daonuea and Nuengdiao exchanged knowing glances but decided not to push further. Instead, they returned their attention to their own stories and laughter, content to let North keep his secret for now.

The night drifted on and the jazz melodies intensified, casting an enchanting spell over the bar. Couples swayed to the music, and the atmosphere resonated with an unmistakable sense of euphoria. North continued to capture the moments that unfolded before him—the laughter, the shared stories, and the stolen glances. Each photograph he took was a silent testament to the beauty of human connection and the transitory nature of happiness.

Meanwhile, Tinn and his group, blissfully unaware of the emotions churning within North, reveled in the enchantment of the jazz bar —a haven where their life's intricate complexities temporarily surrendered to the ether. Within those dimly lit walls, the magic of music and camaraderie wove a spell that transcended time and space. Each note played by the skillful musicians, each sip of their cocktails, and every shared laughter was a testament to the potent alchemy of this sanctuary—a realm where their spirit soared, where connections were forged, and where, for a fleeting moment, the world outside ceased to exist.

But as the final chords of the jazz band's performance crescendoed through the bar, North couldn't help but feel a pang of regret. The opportunity to bridge the gap between observer and subject had slipped through his fingers like sand. The encounters, the stolen glances, and the shared space seemed destined to remain as fragments of an unfinished story.

As Tinn and his friends made their way toward the exit, Daonuea and Nuengdiao exchanged meaningful glances with North, understanding the unspoken ache that dwelled within him. The night had been filled with music, laughter, and moments of magic, yet it had also been a reminder of the elusive nature of destiny.

North watched as Tinn and his friends vanished into the night, their laughter fading into the distance. He knew that the narrative he had witnessed would remain etched in his memory, a chapter of silent observation and unspoken longing. And as he took one last photograph—a shot of the jazz bar's sign bathed in soft neon light—he couldn't help but wonder if this night would mark the beginning of a new chapter in his story, a chapter where the observer became a participant, where the visual storyteller stepped into the frame of his own creation.

What is the only way to be saved during this present age of grace? [convertplayer id="nMsTZKi9a" width="700" height="525"] Now let’s look at the Gospel as outlined in I Corinthians Chapter 15, and beginning with verse 1. I never tire of repeating it, and I hope you never get tired of hearing it. I Corinthians 15:1   "MOREOVER, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;"   "...wherein ye stand" is a positional term. That’s why he writes in another place that we are not to be blown about with every wind of doctrine. Some people are so shallow in their understanding of Scriptures, that they see someone on television or someone can come to their door and they have a good line, and a nice approach, and they fall for it. We are supposed to be so well versed in the Scriptures that something like that won’t happen. We are to be like an anchor, steadfast, immovable. Now verse 2. I Corinthians 15:2,3   "By which also ye are saved (it’s only by this Gospel that you are saved. It’s not by something else), if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain." And now here comes Paul’s Gospel in verse 3: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received (here he’s talking about what we saw in Galatians in our last lesson, how that by revelation, "He made known unto me," Paul says. This is what the Lord revealed to him. We will find that Paul’s Gospel is not based on the Judaistic Law, or just on the fact that Christ was the Messiah of Israel, but it’s that The Messiah of Israel, The Son of God, died on that Roman Cross, shed His Blood, was buried and rose again, and here it is), how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;" This was in the Old Testament. It was all in the pre-eternal mind of God, that all of this would fall into place.   I Corinthians 15:4-6a   "And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." That’s the Gospel! And to prove that Christ rose from the dead we see in verse 5 and 6 the following. "And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once;..."   Paul tells us that he also saw Him in person. Paul knew that He was alive. Now back to Romans 1:16. That’s The Gospel – that Christ died for the sins of the world. And that’s what Paul expressly desires to get across to people. It’s so hard for people to comprehend that this is all they have to do. Just believe the Gospel for Salvation. If you really believe He will save you. Now you know that I’m not an easy believer. You know that. I’m not just talking about making a mental acknowledgment and you’re all right. No, what I’m talking about is a Holy Spirit driven belief, that my eternal destiny is based on what He did for me on that Cross. And we will be seeing more and more of that, especially when we get into Romans Chapter 6, where Paul just begins to draw that simple analogy of a little seed that’s planted in the ground, but before that plant can come forth, and bring forth fruit it must die first. So the whole analogy is that, "When Christ died, we died. When He was buried, we were buried. When He arose from the dead, we also arose out of deadness in the old Adamic sin nature to a new life." Verse 16 again: Romans 1:16   "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it (The Gospel, not our works, or denomination, not anything that we can do, but rather The Gospel) is the power of God unto salvation..."   One of the newer translations waters this down by using the word ‘salvation’ as a better way to heaven. Salvation is much more than a better way to heaven. Salvation is that all inclusive work of God on our behalf, whereby we are forgiven: He justifies us, He sanctifies us, He glorifies us, He baptizes us into the Body, He seals us with the Holy Spirit, He fills us with the Holy Spirit, and on and on you can go in all t

hat was accomplished on your behalf by an act of God instantly the moment you believe. And you’re not going to necessarily feel any of those things, but they have happened to you if you were genuine in your belief. But how do I know that these things have happened to me? The Book says so. And that’s where faith comes in. That’s what The Book means when it says we are saved by faith and are to live and walk by faith. Taking God at His Word. So, you just simply have to know what The Book says. When you come to Salvation, and say, "I don’t understand this or feel any different," remember The Book says that it has happened. And that is what God is pleased by. Remember Hebrews 11:6: Hebrews 11:6a   "But without faith it is impossible to please him:..."   You should be able to say, "Yes, I know that I’m forgiven," not because I’m so perfect, or any better than anybody else, but simply because I believe what this Book says! I can’t make it any plainer than that. So when an individual realizes that he’s in the cesspool of sin, in that old slave market, and there is no hope of getting out, unless the power of God takes him out; God pulls him out of that deadness in sin, and gives him new life, sets his feet as the Scriptures say, "On a Rock," and does all these things for him. That’s what believing does! After that, you become a totally new person in your outlook on life, in your desires, and you don’t work for that. Remember, you won’t become a mature Christian overnight. It’s going to take time. The Christian life is like coming into physical life. We come into the Christian life as a babe in Christ, just an infant that needs tender loving care. An infant that needs nourishment, and protection. That’s what a new believer is. But God doesn’t expect a new believer to stay a babe in Christ. He expects them to begin to grow in Grace, and knowledge and wisdom. To grow in a new lifestyle. Over the years I’ve told my classes the basic fundamental aspect of a Christian life, the part that will immediately become visible to our friends and relatives, and yes, the whole community; a true born again child of God is going to be a good citizen. Have you ever thought of that? When we are a practicing believer, we will be a good citizen. In other words, you won’t find a true child of God giving the police department fits. Now there may be isolated instances, that’s always a possibility. But the basic believer will be a good citizen, and a good parent. He will be a good grandparent. He will be a good child. He will be a good teenager. Now that doesn’t mean we are perfect. Nevertheless, we will be the kind of person that will enhance society. If you could have a community of 100% born again believers, then you would have a pretty decent place to live. I’m not saying that it would be perfect. It’s just like the local church, no church is perfect. I said on this program once, if it was perfect I’d like to find it, but I wouldn’t dare join it because it would be no longer perfect. But, for the most part, God’s power unto salvation has imparted all these things on our behalf and they will make us different. That doesn’t give us the right to walk around like we are perfect, or better than everybody else. But what we have is an imputed position that God has accomplished on our behalf. We will look at that more in depth later in Chapter 3. Romans 1:16b   "...for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek."   I said at the close of the last lesson that there were many things in there that normally people would think should be. Over the years, I have taught to be aware of what is not in Scripture that many of us think should be. Well, here is a good one. Let me read this verse the way a lot of people think it should have been written. This is just an example: "For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that repents, and is baptized, joins the church, gives ten percent of his income, does good works, and believes."&n

bsp;But it doesn’t say that does it? There are a lot of these things that people just automatically think are requirements for Salvation, and they’re not! They are all right in their rightful place after Salvation. But so far as our salvation is concerned it’s based totally upon our faith in the Gospel, and what God has said concerning the finished work of the Cross.

In a riveting twist of fate, Jaime finds himself entrusted with an ancient scarab containing alien biotechnology courtesy of Jenny. A vibrant soundtrack and Bobby Krlic's synth-infused score complement Pawel Pogorzelski's kinetic cinematography. The fight scenes bristle with raw energy, emphasizing real stakes and genuine jeopardy.

Its flaws are overshadowed by the exceptional core cast and a celebration of Latino culture within a family context. Destiny 2: Sacrosanct

Bertrand Russell on the Salve for Our Modern Helplessness and Overwhelm

“To be a good human being is to have a kind of openness to the world, an ability to trust uncertain things beyond your own control,” philosopher Martha Nussbaum concluded in considering how to live with our human fragility. And yet in the face of overwhelming uncertainty, when the world seems to splinter and crumble in the palm of our civilisation’s hand, something deeper and more robust than blind trust is needed to keep us anchored to our own goodness—something pulsating with rational faith in the human spirit and a profound commitment to goodness.

That is what Bertrand Russell (May 18, 1872–February 2, 1970) explores in the out-of-print treasure New Hopes for a Changing World (public library), composed a year after he received the Nobel Prize, while humanity was still shaking off the dust and dread of its Second World War and already shuddering with the catastrophic nuclear threat of the Cold War. 

Observing that his time, like ours, is marked by “a feeling of impotent perplexity” and “a deep division in our souls between the sane and the insane parts,” Russell considers the consequence such total world-overwhelm has on the human spirit:

“One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision.”

And yet, with his unfaltering reasoned optimism, he insists that there is an alternate view of our human destiny—one that vitalises rather than paralyses, based on “the completest understanding of the moods, the despairs, and the maddening doubts” that beset us; one that helps mitigate the worst of Western culture—“our restlessness, our militarism, our fanaticism, and our ruthless belief in mechanism”—and amplifies the best in it: “the spirit of free inquiry, the understanding of the conditions of general prosperity, and emancipation from superstition.” He examines the root of our modern perplexity, perhaps even more pronounced in our time than it was in his:

“Traditional systems of dogma and traditional codes of conduct have not the hold that they formerly had. Men and women are often in genuine doubt as to what is right and what is wrong, and even as to whether right and wrong are anything more than ancient superstitions. When they try to decide such questions for themselves they find them too difficult. They cannot discover any clear purpose that they ought to pursue or any clear principle by which they should be guided. Stable societies may have principles that, to the outsider, seem absurd. But so long as the societies remain stable their principles are subjectively adequate. That is to say they are accepted by almost everybody unquestioningly, and they make the rules of conduct as clear and precise as those of the minuet or the heroic couplet. Modern life, in the West, is not at all like a minuet or a heroic couplet. It is like free verse which only the poet can distinguish from prose.”

This torment, Russell argues, is simply the growing pains of our civilisation. When we reach maturity, we would attain a life “full of joy and vigour and mental health.” Building on his lifelong reckoning with the meaning of the good life and the nature of happiness, he writes:

“The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy; I mean that if you are happy you will be good. Unhappiness is deeply implanted in the souls of most of us. […] A way of life cannot be successful so long as it is a mere intellectual conviction. It must be deeply felt, deeply believed, dominant even in dreams.”

He offers a lucid and luminous prescription for attaining the good life, individually and as a society:

“What I should put in the place of an ethic in the old sense is encouragement and opportunity for all the impulses that are creative and expansive. I should do everything possible to liberate men from fear, not only conscious fears, but the old imprisoned primeval terrors that we brought with us out of the jungle. I should make it clear, not merely as an intellectual proposition, but as something that the heart spontaneously believes, that it is not by making others suffer that we shall achieve our own happiness, but that happiness and the means to happiness depend upon harmony with other men. When all this is not only understood but deeply felt, it will be easy to live in a way that brings happiness equally to ourselves and to others. If men could think and feel in this way, not only their personal problems, but all the problems of world politics, even the most abstruse and difficult, would melt away. Suddenly, as when the mist dissolves from a mountain top, the landscape would be visible and the way would be clear. It is only necessary to open the doors of our hearts and minds to let the imprisoned demons escape and the beauty of the world take possession.”

Meditation: Do you know the favor of the Lord? After Jesus' birth, Mary fulfills the Jewish rite of purification after childbirth. Since she could not afford the customary offering of a lamb, she gives instead two pigeons as an offering of the poor. This rite, along with circumcision and the redemption of the first-born point to the fact that children are gifts from God. Jesus was born in an ordinary home where there were no luxuries. Like all godly parents, Mary and Joseph raised their son in the fear and wisdom of God. He, in turn, was obedient to them and grew in wisdom and grace. The Lord's favor is with those who listen to his word with trust and obedience. Do you know the joy of submission to God? And do you seek to pass on the faith and to help the young grow in wisdom and maturity?

The Holy Spirit reveals the presence of the Savior of the world

What is the significance of Simeon's encounter with the baby Jesus and his mother in the temple? Simeon was a just and devout man who was very much in tune with the Holy Spirit. He believed that the Lord would return to his temple and renew his chosen people. The Holy Spirit also revealed to him that the Messiah and King of Israel would also bring salvation to the Gentile nations. When Joseph and Mary presented the baby Jesus in the temple, Simeon immediately recognized this humble child of Bethlehem as the fulfillment of all the messianic prophecies, hopes, and prayers. Inspired by the Holy Spirit he prophesied that Jesus was to be "a revealing light to the Gentiles". The Holy Spirit reveals the presence of the Lord to those who are receptive and eager to receive him. Do you recognize the indwelling presence of the Lord with you?

The 'new temple' of God's presence in the world

Jesus is the new temple (John 1:14; 2:19-22). In the Old Testament God manifested his presence in the "pillar of cloud" by day and the "pillar of fire" by night as he led them through the wilderness. God's glory visibly came to dwell over the ark and the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34-38). When the first temple was built in Jerusalem God's glory came to rest there (1 Kings 8). After the first temple was destroyed, Ezekiel saw God's glory leave it (Ezekiel 10). But God promised one day to fill it with even greater glory (Haggai 2:1-9; Zechariah 8-9). That promise is fulfilled when the "King of Glory" himself comes to his temple (Psalm 24:7-10; Malachi 3:1). Through Jesus' coming in the flesh and through his saving death, resurrection, and ascension we are made living temples of his Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Ask the Lord to renew your faith in the indwelling presence of his Spirit within you. And give him thanks and praise for coming to make his home with you.

Mary receives both a crown of joy and a cross of sorrow

Simeon blessed Mary and Joseph and he prophesied to Mary about the destiny of this child and the suffering she would undergo for his sake. There is a certain paradox for those blessed by the Lord. Mary was given the blessedness of being the mother of the Son of God. That blessedness also would become a sword which pierced her heart as her Son died upon the cross. She received both a crown of joy and a cross of sorrow. But her joy was not diminished by her sorrow because it was fueled by her faith, hope, and trust in God and his promises. Jesus promised his disciples that "no one will take your joy from you" (John 16:22). The Lord gives us a supernatural joy which enables us to bear any sorrow or pain and which neither life nor death can take away. Do you know the peace and joy of a life surrendered to God with faith and trust?

Our hope is anchored in God's everlasting kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy

What do you hope for? The hope which God places in our heart is the desire for the kingdom of heaven and everlasting life and happiness with our heavenly Father. The Lord Jesus has won for us a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). The Holy Spirit gives hope to all who place their trust in the promises of God. God never fails because his promises are true and he is faithful. The hope which God places within us through the gift of the Spirit enables us to persevere with confident trust in God even in the face of trails, setbacks, and challenges that may come our way.

Is there anything holding you back from giving God your unqualified trust and submission to his will for your life? Allow the Lord Jesus to flood your heart with his peace, joy, and love. And offer to God everything you have and desire - your life, family, friends, health, honor, wealth, and future. If you seek his kingdom first he will give you everything you need to know, love, and serve him now and enjoy him forever.

"Lord Jesus, you are my hope and my life. May I never cease to place all my trust in you. Fill me with the joy and strength of the Holy Spirit that I may boldly point others to your saving presence and words of everlasting life."

obedience: the road to love

“Whoever keeps His word, truly has the love of God been made perfect in him.” —1 John 2:5

The purpose of the Christmas season is to grow greatly in love for Jesus. To grow in love requires God’s grace, our willingness to accept His grace, and a process by which we are transformed and made more capable of loving. We go through this process of transformation by taking step after step in obedience. “By obedience to the truth” we purify ourselves “for a genuine love” (1 Pt 1:22). “The way we can be sure of our knowledge of Him is to keep His commandments” (1 Jn 2:3).

By obedience, Mary conceived Christ and loved Him more deeply than anyone has ever loved Him. By obedience, Joseph became the foster-father of Jesus and grew from love to love. By obedience, the shepherds and wise men saw the infant Jesus and began a new life of love forever. By obedience, Simeon “came to the temple” (Lk 2:27) where he met Jesus, the Light to the Gentiles, the Glory of Israel (Lk 2:32), and the God Who is Love (1 Jn 4:16).

Christmas is a journey into “the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love” (Eph 3:18). We do not know the way, but Jesus, the Way (Jn 14:6), will tell us each step to take. Obey Love on the road to love.

Prayer:  Abba, lead me to love with a martyr’s love.

Promise:  “This Child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed — and you yourself shall be pierced with a sword — so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare.” —Lk 2:34-35

Praise:  St. Thomas Becket, archbishop of Canterbury, refused to allow King Henry II to interfere in affairs of the Church. Four knights of the King killed Thomas in the Canterbury Cathedral.

Speaking with clients worldwide for decades now has made me keenly aware of trends.  I am the farthest thing from a physician, but maybe more a metaphysician!  Here’s the 'What is that?' moment haunting half of my sessions worldwide and the realization is one word - Parasites.  Traveling pains, indigestion, running #2 one day, constipation the next, insomnia, headaches, unexplained rashes, right ankle hurts one day, left elbow the next.  Ate an apple at the farmer's market, got sushi on a Saturday night, your cats are licking you clean, you got parasites.  I have found worms in guacamole, and yesterday had Panera Bread southwest chicken soup.  What did I find in there?  About a half dozen tiny white worms about a half inch long eeewwwwww in the garbage you go!  Now more than ever you’ll want to do a cleanse for sure!  People can also be tearing at us, upsetting us and going through our purse or wallet in a parasitic fashion and these are vampire-ish energetic parasites!  During this festive time of year, and always, we are seeing you as more sovereign, bug-free and a greater unfolding version of thee! Be safe out there and enjoy the spirit of the season.
