i have at this point talked to at least a few of my college friends about cough syrup, only two of them knowing it by explicit name. and i find it incredibly funny because one of them was an actual committed fan who dropped after the major hiatus, and the other one only read five chapters in before giving up 😭 i have much love for the hiatus survivors because my dear close friends were NOT committing to that shit

reading cough syrup by nightmare_rivulets on ao3 and it's all I think about. last night I got distracted from my color theory assignment and decided to assign cs!tubbo and cs!ranboo engagement rings

set 1 is what I'm calling the galaxy duo. tubbo and ranboo stargaze over the phone a lot. they made plans on one of their earliest interactions to stargaze with each other. ranboo would name stars after tubbo, and tubbo never grew out of wanting to be an astronaut. ranboo thinks he would be a black dwarf. ranboo 's ring is made of tungsten with alexandrite set in. tubbo's ring is also tungsten with green opal and emerald.

set 2 is my dsmp character compliant set, but for short c!compliant. tubbo is a goat hybrid and ranboo is an enderman hybrid. this set is a traditionally more feminine style of ring, but I think it's simple and lovely. ranboo 's ring is amethyst set in yellow gold plated silver and I think the cut of the amethyst resembles an ender eye, just purple. tubbo's ring is emerald set in sterling silver, and I think the twig design of the silver resembles goat horns.

set 3 is the twitter favorite so far, and what I'm calling the platonic bands. in a traditionally more masculine style, these rings represent so much to the characters. ranboo's is amethyst, set in black ceramic. ranboo's love (/p) for tubbo is very clear to ranboo and while he is generally afraid of it, he still recognizes and shows tubbo that he cares about him from the very beginning. ranboo could never truly forget tubbo. tubbo's ring is malachite, not emerald, set in damascus steel and I think the symbolism is AMAZING, with the stone being tubbo's love(/p) consuming the inside but only barely showing through because of his inability to convince himself that he is worth loving.

i genuinely cannot tell if this chapter is one of the worst ones in the fic or like a pretty solidly good one so if you read it tomorrow and you're like this is shitty just know that this close to the upload date im in a "fuck it we ball" mentality

with all due respect, im not sure I follow your reasoning behind “CC!SBI doesn’t exist”. C!SBI I can understand and agree with, but SBI as a concept extends far beyond just ‘a joke one of them made while tired’?

the core of who is or isn’t “SBI” is pretty solely tied to MCC4, where they promised tommy that if they won he could be added to SBI. This shows, one, that it’s a label they at least use with one another (thus it isn’t just some ‘fandom’ invention with no basis), and two, established who was in SBI— Tommy had to be “formally” added, and since no one else was then the group remains “”exclusive””. Since then they’ve used the term to refer to that group of 4 many times (such as various 4/4 jokes, Techno’s gravity mod video being referred to as a ‘sleepy bois recording’ when being made, etc)

I definitely believe that SBI has multiplie associated CCs, such as Niki, Tubbo, Jack, etc— and I personally don’t care if ppl call them SBI as well! — but others may indeed be more shocked by that because SBI, the 4/4, in terms of the CCs, ….IS a pretty established thing?

I don’t want this message to come across as like. Aggressive or defensive, so I apologize if it has, but I’m just confused as to your own statement because it just seems Factually Incorrect to me— the roles they play may vary, but the people included are pretty clearly defined. Could you maybe clarify more?

So, I watch a lot of Philza streams, including the hardcore streams. And Phil has mentioned, multiple times, that the SBI term is unofficial. Yes, they acknowledge it and are aware of it, but Phil has repeated multiple times that it isn’t official. He’s said so before and after MCC4 (and honestly, do you really think they really would have banned Tommy from "exclusive SBI events" if they had lost?).

The whole SBI thing started out because Phil, Techno and Wilbur all thought that the idea of sending some random picture of a fish on twitter was funny, and Phil decided that maybe the fans should get at least some kind of context, so sent a message he thought was funny. But again, he has stated that it’s not an official term.

And a lot "SBI 4/4" things are made at the expense of fans (the Philza stream where they all kept leaving and joining, the Technoblade Twitch stream with a TommyInnit jumpscare at the end, etc).

It is a fan term. That doesn’t mean that it’s less valid. Especially since they do all care about their fans, so they do acknowledge it as something their fans want.

I feel like I have more to say about this, but I am also very eepy and capitalism is a hellscape. So.

My main point wasn’t even really about SBI, just about how on multiple websites (Tumblr, Ao3, Wattpad, Twitter), things are tagged as SBI and feature other CCs or Cs, but no one has made a fuss about them (like Ranboo, Tubbo, Fundy), but I add Niki in the mix and that’s were the line is.

no you're so real for that, i think charlie was super funny in genloss but he's funny in literally everything he's in so i feel like there was nothing particularly special about genloss. i just feel like chuckle sandwich got so much more boring since charlie left and i totally understand that he had to make time for other things but did chuckle sandwich have to be the thing he dropped???

and yeah i think schlatt's vibe with other content creators has become less entertaining, you're right about the coworker vibe thing. the thing that's fun about youtube is that it's scuffed and unprofessional, especially when it comes to the gaming side of things.
