I fucking hated Fredrick Bitchass Usher with a passion that I was not expecting to … I mean just look at this stupid fucker with his dumbass bun /ponytail bullshit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fredrick “frodrick” Usher is such a fuckin pussy wtf?! Bitch looks like he’d have a fuckin aneurism if he accidentally brushed up against a tiddy how the hell did this fool land a wife like that??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND THEN HAVE THE GODDAMN GALL, THE AUDACITY TO ABUSE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN ????
Who, mind you, was already no doubt in excruciating fucking pain and absolutely paying the consequences as it was!
And for what? Cheating? I’d cheat on him too! In a heartbeat. Jesus Christ. I don’t know how much love was there before the “terrible accident” but babe you could do so much better than mf sweaty Freddy. Only two reasons to marry him had to be pity and, well, I’m sure the money fuckin helped as well.
Also you can’t convince me that this absolute beauty (inside and out), this fucking queen,
Ms. Lenore Usher,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
… was the spawn of that dipshit. Like… the math don’t work. The math ain’t mathin for me. I’m sorry but no.
Which, made his death scene all the more sweet. And miss Verna was fuckin serving during that entire scene 😘🤌
Fuck.
🔪
Disclaimer: I’m not fuckin stupid. It’s a show. this fucker just got under my skin lol. Absolutely no disrespect to Henry Thomas tho. Just lose the fuckin ponytail please god

I'm just going to come right out and say it. I found Verna annoying. IDK, I just didn't like the moralising and supposed compassion she had for the Usher children. It just didn't feel genuine. Or was the compassionate mask supposed to add to the torture like when she's advising Tamerlane to be calm or something while literally freaking her the fuck out? If so, it just felt unnecessarily cruel to me. And I felt bad for Leo too. I feel like the only death I was actually happy about was Froderick's, and Verna's full on anger was easier to stomach than the cruel compassion (I'm sorry, but that's just how it felt to me). Madeline's monologue before she collapsed was badass.
Also, I'm probably reading too much into it, but it felt strangely conservative. It felt like the show was saying look at all these rich, evil, kinky/non-traditional relationship-having Ushers (I guess Froderick is the exception - he seemed to have a fairly traditional relationship iirc, and he turned out to be an abuser). And the sweetest Ushers are the monogamous housewife, and the granddaughter whose sexual/romantic life we never see. Even Morella seems to get punished for going to the orgy. Also, why the fuck did everyone else at the orgy die???
EDIT: Victorine also has a monogamous relationship as @queer-verse pointed out. Also, I want to clarify that I don't think the show was literally punishing people for having non-traditional/non-monogamous relationships. It just felt icky that all of the good people whose relationships we were showed/told about, were more traditional when it came to relationships. It's like when the "modern woman" is usually the villain in Indian soaps. She's not portrayed as evil because she wears modern clothes, and yet somehow, it's always the evil one that is "modern", while the good one is more "traditional".

The Fall of the House of Usher
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
The Fall of the House of Usher (2023, USA)
Creator: Mike Flanagan (based on Edgar Allan Poe's works)
Directors: Mike Flanagan & Michael Fimognari
Mini-review:
Mike Flanagan has done it again: he's given us yet another show-stopping piece of horror television. While I must admit I didn't find The Fall of the House of Usher super scary, I just love the way Flanagan and his team tell their stories. There's just something so enthralling and bewitching about their work. And this one in particular is definitely one of their strongest productions so far. Even though the show tells you what's going to happen in the very first episode, it never feels boring or predictable, and it keeps you absolutely hooked. You feel the need to know how everything will play out. Also, they made the brilliant decision of taking elements from a lot of Poe's stories and poems, which adds to the richness of the writing. I'm seriously thinking of looking up all the material used, reading it, and watching the show again, just to catch all the easter eggs.
And that cast. Man, there's no way to properly describe just how good the acting is. Everyone is absolutely pitch perfect, but for me the MVPs were Carla Gugino (sometimes I feel like Flanagan is the only one who gives her the incredible roles her immense talent deserves), Bruce Greenwood and Kate Siegel. Last but not least, kudos to the production design department, cause the show looks stunning. The Fall of the House of Usher is the best possible ending for Flanagan collaborative relationship with Netflix, and I can't wait to see what he'll do from now on.

I decided to go ahead and make a Twitter account that will be tweeting* (in a polite, respectful, but incredibly annoying way) at Netflix once a day every day** until they give us a physical release of Midnight Mass.    Either I live to see special features on a physical copy of Midnight Mass, or I die/get blocked trying. Please. Join me. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 * I can’t be bothered to keep up with whatever the unfortunate man controlling things wants to call it now ** some days get missed but, like Ed Flynn, I do my best

Juno and Morrie agree to meet for brunch once a year, every year. They each visit Dr Ruiz’s gravesite, as well as young Lenore’s to pay their respects. At some point they each plant a tree in her memory, and another for Lenore - rather than a bouquet. Bill and Jules sometimes join them.
Alessandra’s colleagues fight to complete her work on the heart mesh. On their own time. Takes many years before they can properly move to human trials, but they’re gonna do it right this time. No shortcuts, no illegal activity. Everything above board. They call it the Ruiz pump or something like that. Ali pump?
Morrilla reclaims her maiden name. The Lenore Foundation is keeping her plenty busy, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She never remarries. In fact, she hardly has time or desire left for any kind of romantic relationship. Lenore was and is her everything. She’s helping so many people and thanks to all the surgeries, she’s looking fucking fabulous doing it.
Juno is recovering quite well. She’s helping so many people. Lord knows she has her rough days but dammit she pulled through. And she’s using all of fuckhead Roddie’s money to help others pull through as well. Thousands. And soon, millions. Even out the plane field. Making up for nearly all the lives lost or ruined by her ex husband’s damn poison tablets. His fucking impressive tally.
Bill begins running his own gym. He emphasizes to his clients to never over exert themselves. Taking care of their bodies is more than diet and exercise. It’s listening to your body and resting when you need to. His new business partner is kind & beautiful. They fall in love, and see and treat each other as equals. He’s no longer just an asset. And no more girls. He is so grateful for that.
Jules starts volunteering at an animal shelter and adopting the ones that are at risk of getting euthanized. Pretty soon the local shelter has to close down so he builds a new one. Makes it a cat cafe. They get more traffic. It’s therapeutic.
They all refer clients and people to each other. They each help make the world a better place.

A World Within a Crystal Ball
Imagine a world contained within a crystal ball, a miniature universe that fits in the palm of your hand. It's a place of wonder and magic, where anything is possible and the impossible becomes reality.
In this image, we see just such a world. It's a place of breathtaking beauty, where the sky is alight with stars and the mountains rise majestically in the distance. The crystal ball captures every detail with stunning clarity, creating a sense of awe and wonder.
As we gaze upon this world within a crystal ball, we're reminded of the power of imagination. With just a few simple tools and a little bit of creativity, we can create entire universes that exist only in our minds. We can explore new worlds, meet new people, and experience things beyond our wildest dreams.
So let us embrace the magic of our imagination, and let it guide us on our journey through life. Let us remember that anything is possible, and that we have the power to create our own destiny. For even though this world within a crystal ball may be small, it holds within it the infinite possibilities of the universe.
