Rise of the Titans
Prologue

OC! x Loki
Masterlist | Next
-
Another quiet night falls on the kingdom in the sky. Life on the planet is on high alert. Even the grass seems to understand the tension that flows through the air, standing stiff and sharp against the moonlight. All is still.
The Goddess Mother stands alone in a temple. A baby, no more than a few days old, in her hands, supported over a bath of golden nectar. The baby’s cries echo through the maze of columns within the building, as it grasps out for anything to hold. “I, your mother, Gaia, grant you the power of creation. Upon my death, my own abilities shall also be passed down for you to possess. I, Gaia, grant you the power of divinity and immortality. My daughter, Arali, you are now reborn as ‘Goddess of Fertility’.” The woman lowers the baby into the liquid, letting the nectar all but consume the child. After a moment of submerging, she lifts the child back into the air with an eager smile. A soft golden hue emits from the baby, as nectar drips from its form.
Gaia had created her child as a last minute resort in hope that the baby could one day restore peace to their kingdom. She had seen the chaos brewing beneath the surface of Mount Olympus and knew the fate that would soon fall on her and her family. With her husband dead and their corrupted son now on the throne, she had but one choice. She used the last bits of her dying magic to create a life within the confines of her stomach that would soon blossom into her predecessor. Perhaps this daughter could protect the life that resided on their Earth once her mother finally withered away.
Arali was born with a head full of orange spirals, similar in color to the autumn leaves that would fall from the trees when Persephone would descend back to the Underworld. She has forest green eyes, and warm honey skin that was a few shades lighter than that of her mother’s. She was small for a Titan, the obvious runt of the family. It seems as though she was born to stand out, an odd child she is indeed. She is strong and determined, but also so pure. She is caring and full of emotion, a weakness among the court. She is reserved, doesn’t spend much time around her elder siblings, and instead would seek company from animals, drawn mostly towards those of prey. From her few years living amongst the gods she had gained the nickname ‘mikró elafína’ or ‘little doe’, which was not exactly a compliment towards the young princess.
The child grew up within the palace walls, happy and naive to the death and rebellion that was slowly rising outside. Gaia did her best to shelter her elafína from danger, keeping her hidden from the other gods, and even more from the rest of Olympia.
She was close to her big brother Hyperion, and big sister, Rhea. Hyperion is always happy and will often accompany Arali while she roams the castle. Rhea will teach her about their shared nature based powers while their mother rests. Both hope to protect the young one from the wars happening just outside her room, each knowing how important her role is to the safety of their people.
However, before Arali was born, things weren’t always so innocent and happy for the Goddess Mother. Ouranos, Gaia’s now dead husband, once wise and humane, grew into a crew and gruesome leader. He’d punish his own people for upsetting him in the slightest of ways, and even went as far as banishing some of his own children to the depths of Tartarus. Gaia, appalled by his behavior, figured there was only one option left to stop him, and met with her remaining children to plan Ouranos’ murder. Cronus, their youngest son, was determined to show his bravery to his family and was eager to help in her plan. However, her other children were not, for they feared their father’s power. Cronus eventually managed to convince his siblings and they reluctantly joined his fight, successfully murdering their father and freeing their people of his reign. But as his son held a dagger to his heart, Ouranos warned Cronus, “You will be cursed my same fate.”
They threw the dead king’s body into the ocean. Little did they know, a young Aphrodite would emerge from the magic that wept from his corpse and be found by the soon to be Olympians.
Cronus quickly settled into his life as the new King ruling by his mother’s side, but was still haunted by Ouranos. Heeding his father’s last words, Cronus had cast out his own children, demanding to have them killed far away from the kingdom, in fear that they would overthrow him much like how he did his own father. Unbeknownst to him, Gaia and Rhea had helped the children to safety. They were raised among the mortals of Olympia, and were highly admired by them, so much that they often viewed them as their real leaders and protectors. The Titans may be ruling their people through a golden age, but it was no doubt that one day the Olympians would discover their truth and come for Cronus’ head.
In the meantime, the Titans were working on strengthening their more intergalactic alliances, specifically that with their most trustworthy ally, the Asgardians. Gaia is close to Odin and Frigga, the king and queen of Asgard, who much prefer doing business with her compared to her son, Cronus. Gaia is always compassionate, but knows when to be stern. She is a caring leader, looked up to by the people of Olympia, whereas her son tends to be more cutthroat and rules with fear and insecurity.
Gaia introduced Frigga to her youngest daughter, while Frigga shared news about her own newest addition to their family. Frigga had visited Mount Olympus often, and had even assisted Gaia in caring for Arali, for she knew Gaia’s life was quickly draining. Frigga would share many stories and songs with the young one. Arali was nearly as Asgardian as she was Olympian.
Frigga and Gaia had promised their children to each other from the day they were born, or in Frigga’s case, from the day her son was brought to Asgard. Once the two children had met, they knew they were born to be powerful leaders together. However, things never go as planned.

Do you have at least any headcanons on how Cronus and Rhea first met? What do you suppose the Titanomachy and even the Golden Age was like in the Disney-verse?
Not particularly. I assume they were rather like how they're described in the opening song, though likely with more participation from everyone else, not just Zeus x)
Sorry the Titans don't really interest me too much so I dont really have any thoughts on them

As for the white lily flower, Hera is associated with the flora because of the myth surrounding her nursing infant Heracles, who nursed so vigorously that Hera had to pull him off her breast. The breast milk that was released after the fact not only made the Milky Way, but the droplets that fell to Earth became lilies. (...)
As the eldest daughter of Cronus and Rhea, Hera met the unfortunate fate of being consumed by her father at birth. With her other siblings, she waited and grew in their father’s abdomen while their youngest brother, Zeus, was raised on Mount Ida in Crete.
Cierra Tolentino, from Hera: Greek Goddess of Marriage, Women, and Childbirth, March 2022.

The body’s putrefaction has long been presented as theological evidence of the transient and base nature of the material world. In her book Scenting Salvation, Susan Ashbrook Harvey recounts the tale of a monk in love with a woman that died. In this anecdote, the monk “cures” himself of his desire and grief by digging up the woman’s body, soaking his garments in the fluids found in her coffin and smelling the repugnant items whenever tempted. (...)
The Odour of Sanctity, formally known as Osmogenesia, is a supernaturally pleasant odour coming from the body or wounds, usually after death. It was presented as a physical sign of the spiritual superiority of the person. While gods and supernatural beings are often associated with pleasant aromas, the Odour of Sanctity is attached explicitly to human bodies and is primarily a Western phenomenon. The concept arose in the early Middle Ages with roots in the early Christian communities of Greece and Egypt.
Still, it didn’t gain considerable traction as a sign of sainthood in the Catholic Church until the Early Modern period. It wasn’t formally recognised as part of the beatification process until 1758 by Cardinal Lambertini (who later became Pope Benedict XIV) and has since been downgraded to a favourable sign of holiness. While the Odour of Sanctity is strongly associated with, and for a time was a sign of incorruptibility, the phenomenon was not limited to officially venerated saints.
Both Catholicism and the Eastern Church developed a robust apocryphal pedigree around smelly heretic preachers and saints alike. Modern theologians will say that the Odour of Sanctity is metaphorical, that it’s an ontological state of being. While that may be true now or for religious scholars of the past, it was indeed taken and preached as a literal odour to the laity.
A dead body touched with the Odour of Sanctity can’t just smell ok. It has to possess the mysterious presence of a supernaturally pleasant odour with no earthly origins to the smell. The scents can be brief or persistent, attached to the body, grave, bathwater of the dead, or objects the person touched.
Nuri McBride, from The Odour of Sanctity: When the Dead Smell Divine, January 2022.

Do you think that Ouranos biggest dream is to be one with Gaia and that Gaia and Ouranos have the deepest bond compared to Hera/ Zeus and Cronus/ Rhea. It will be interesting that they try to fix their issues in the same body together
i definitely think Ouranos’ whole purpose, whole existence is to belong to Gaia. and from his perspective, Gaia’s purpose is to belong to Ouranos, though Gaia doesn’t see it that way. i do not think that Ouranos cares the slightest about Kronos or about Zeus. i don’t even think he’d take the time to learn about Zeus, or Hera, or any of his descendants.
i do have a small hc that Ouranos’ final curse that Kronos’ kids should overthrow him like Ouranos’ kids did to him is less about the children fighting back and more about the woman Kronos loves (Rhea) betraying him bitterly the way Gaia (the woman Ouranos loved) betrayed Ouranos. but, in saying that, i don’t think that Ouranos compares his relationship with Gaia to Kronos and Rhea— my hc is that Ouranos is so arrogant and so great in his own mind that to compare someone he perceives to be weak and inconsequential, like Kronos, to a powerful god like himself would just be insulting.. i don’t think Ouranos would think anything that might suggest someone else (besides Gaia) was comparable to him because that would indicate some sense of equivalency or that another god was “on his level”— Ouranos is too vain and too proud to think that way.
and related to Ouranos being so proud, i think Gaia is also just as proud. she is unwavering— that’s why she was able to so quickly think of killing Ouranos when he hurt her children. 0 hesitation. and when Kronos does the same, though he is her son and they have been allies in the past, it’s inconsequential. she is fierce and unforgiving. that’s why my personal hc is that Gaia and Ouranos will never be resolved. she will never go back to Ouranos. she will never forgive him. she will never love him. she doesn’t even think about him. he is repulsive to her.
i think there is an interesting parallel between Ouranos x Gaia, Kronos x Rhea, and Zeus x Hera. Ouranos and Gaia are irreconcilable— both loathe each other by the end of it. Kronos and Rhea are somewhat redeemed— my hc is that Rhea forgives Kronos, not because she loves him (that love died a long time ago), but because she knows that for her own sake, so that she does not become bitter and miserable, she must.. they are no longer married, there is no love, but there is no hatred either. it’s just indifference.. an unspoken acknowledgment that things can and will never be the same for them again. it is a slight improvement from Ouranos x Gaia. and finally, Zeus and Hera— Hera forgives Zeus time and time again. she constantly leaves herself vulnerable and open out of the love she bears for Zeus. this is starkly different from her predecessors; Gaia is unflinching at the thought of murdering her husband, she relishes it even, and no matter what Ouranos did, he would never earn her forgiveness; Rhea is hesitant at the thought of betraying her husband, but eventually her pain and anger brings her to her senses and she understands that she must for the sake of her children and for the world’s peace; but Hera… Hera is wronged many times, and still welcomes Zeus back. betrayal has crossed her mind many times, and only rarely (if memory serves me right, then only once) has she actually gone through with it. Zeus too has lost patience with her on many occasion. but they’ve never quite fallen apart like their parents or grandparents. of course they are vengeful at times,, but they are not always at odds with each other- often they are peaceful, and more often they are in love. neither thinks they are perfect (the way Ouranos and Gaia thought), and neither thinks they are absolute (the way Kronos and Rhea thought). and that is why, though they fight, they are never so terribly broken and irreconcilable the way their predecessors were. lessons were learnt, even if took 3 generations to get there.

the goddess of love birthed in violence from seafoam&blessed with beauty that demands death as tribute, she who raised an empire from the blood of a decade-ravaged battlefield, pulled rulers through the teeth of a bear like golden apple seeds. the one sipping sparkling champagne&pinot noir on bar tops in sheer tops&no panties, soft legs&curves the only lady-like thing in sight, tempting anyone with the heart to look&breaking every heart without ever learning it's face or name. the one singing in two languages drunk&perfectly pitched like a forsaken debutante, getting higher than a cast-out angel&hearing more than Lucifer ever did all the purring voices calling, "what's a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this?"
(did you know, did you know? the goddess of love was the patron saint of the whores&housewives alike. did you know, did you know? while the harlots prayed for love&charm from one hand of the goddess, the ladies of the state prayed for the same, but from the other?)
o.
my greatest sin is this perpetual dedication to beauty, the obsession with it in every way that makes the lines between the senses blur, the separations between realities flimsy at best. i romanticize everything, can't bring myself to live life without the veneer of gossamer&glitter, won't so much as open my eyes without rose coloured glasses. my whole life has been dedicated to the pursuit of perfection: my mother called me a quitter once when i told her i hated doing something if i wasn't good at it, &i've refused to be bad at anything ever since, but my world fell apart upon realizing that perfection is subjective, &my existence never will be to anyone but me. i would do anything to see myself through the eyes of another, anything to be what a beholder holds in their eye when they think of beauty: everything i do, i do in pursuit of the center of myself, but i always underestimate how much the Other means to that until i'm shedding mask after mask, horrified at the idea that there might be nothing under all the layers of careful paint&porcelain. what is a person, at their core, without the gaze of another?
(they warned you about staring long into the abyss, but no one told you it would have a name, a smile, teeth to bite with. they warned you about the wages of sin, but no one ever said they'd be so sweet or feel so soft, after all. no one told you of this hunger, or that the craving would never stop.)
Tumblr media
x.
the forgotten goddess, the one who gave her seat up to tend the flame of the hearth, instead. the eldest daughter, first to feel life from Rhea, first to have it bloodied&taken by Cronus. the original sacrifice: did Rhea turn her eyes away, wrap herself up in the heavens as her husband devoured her poor baby whole? did she tell herself the next time would be different, did she think if she just let this one child go, his hunger would be sated? how long, do you think, did it take the queen of the heavens to realize that if her husband had fears he would kill to absolve, she would need to accept she had fears she would risk it all to end? no matter what, this story ends with the eldest daughter becoming the youngest as her youngest brother, now oldest, rebirths her into the world so much bloodier a second time around, sets her free of the weight of ever having to trust herself to a man, woman, god, or titan ever again.
(did you know, did you know? there was a time when every home said her name in prayer in the same breath as the king of Olympus, trusted only her to give their daily sacrifices to the gods. did you know, did you know? she never failed to divide it up to keep the gods' viciousness at bay, but like every eldest daughter, found herself forgotten, anyway.)
o.
it isn't that i need someone with a gentle touch, it's that i need someone with a gentle soul. history dictates that a touch can be faked long enough for fingers to curl around throats&crush windpipes disguised with a kiss, coo about how it was just another way to steal my breath away even as the darkness creeps in&seals my eyes shut. what can't be faked is the way a heart beats watching the sun crest the horizon with frost still on your breath, my head pressed flat against your chest after 26 hours of drugs, of parties, of crying, of fighting, of fucking. what can't be faked is the exasperation in your voice at being woken up at 3am by screaming&nightmares-- again-- being curbed only by the love necessary it takes to get out of bed&ask the hard questions-- again. i only know romance through mopping the blood up, cleaning out the wound so the cigarette smoke doesn't make the gash in your cheek go septic, wrapping knuckles to splints after hard days&harder nights. i only know how to say i love you at the wrong times, but i come bearing gifts&the eagerness of domestication that only a feral animal can truly understand.
(i'm only worth knowing bloodied after a fist fight, i'm only worth knowing screaming&caked in salt under a full moon, i'm only really worth knowing pole dancing using the streetlights on the overpass. i fucked Tyler Durden or i became him; either way, i know the narrator's long gone.)
Tumblr media
x.
the goddess who had just bloomed her way past a child, the one who knelt in blossoms, unaware&unafraid. she who found her personhood when she was ripped from the fields she breathed life into, when she was taken away on wings both dark&cold, when she was given the goblets&seeds of the dead. she who didn't lose the petals in her footsteps or dew drops in her fingertips, but still ground the mint to dust beneath her heels, still kept her captor on a leash that not even the blessings of a heavenly lyre&the muses themselves could outmatch in control. she who had her love taken from her, &still chose to give it back to the lovers who came to the foot of her throne. there are stories where she falls in love-- there are stories where her mother saves her. but in all these stories, the goddess of life is the queen of death, &in all these stories, she holds the king of death on a chain in one hand, with a sceptor given to her by the same lord not even Olympus could contain, the one who first took her, in the other.
(did you know, did you know? birth&death are so interwoven that peoples around the world sprawling back through millennia have given goddesses life in one hand&death in the other. did you know, did you know? this snake has always eaten itself: she who gives life, will always welcome it back, at the end.)
o.
every person i've ever tricked into tripping into me&the bottomless pit that comes with me has accused me in one way or another of being too much: too bloody, too loud, too raw. too much. the beaches i grew up on never slid into the depths: the sand bars dropped into a different galaxy, ripped the ground away from the soles of your feet to leave you weightless&lost&drifting with no warning, &i've lived a lifetime angling to be just like that. give me the last of your breath, the sun-spotted polaroids of your mind's eye, all the most biased memories that flash in reels before you: paint me the world anew, whisper me history books worth of knowledge in that last breath. let me crawl into your skin, we can go to Valhalla together, see the fields of Elysian on the other side of one more deep breath. give me an ounce of life (nevermind that it's the last ounce of yours that i want), &i will show you worlds you can't possibly imagine.
(if you tell me the sky is green&fuzzy, i'll believe you. if you tell me the sea is the colour of cotton candy&filled with wine, i'll believe you. if you tell me you love me, i'll believe you. i promise, i promise, i promise, it's true...)

When you're done with bittersweet (hephaestus and aphrodite) are you gonna do another one that is part 2 (of aglaea and hephaestus) or another comic (japanese mythology for ex.)?
well,, there is hephaestus x aglaea in Bittersweet itself no spoilers ehehehe!! so, i wasn't really thinking of making a part 2.
i did have in mind of making a comic for Cronus x Rhea (i.e. the castration of ouranos myth), so that'd probably be my next project.
these are some of the posts from my sideblog about my Cronus x Rhea AU if you're interested (x) (x) (x)
alternatively, i kinda wanted to do something with maybe Norse, Egyptian or Aztec mythology because i really like those!

October 15th ~ Poseidon
[💚🔱🧜‍♂️💕🧜‍♀️🐳🌊] Her thoughts on Poseidon, the middle child of the Cronides and why it’s important to stop harming the oceans. Knowing damn well he won’t take those actions kindly since he’s “King of the Seas”.
Tumblr media
October 17th ~ HERA!
[💛🥰] Hera is probably the most complex woman in the LO verse, for there’s more to her than what the Greek Myths portray her to be. She’s the only goddess to be Zeus’ equal and to be the rightful Queen of the Gods and Olympus (Heavens). She’s flawed like any other immortal, doesn’t stop her from continuing being Queen of the Olympus. Now she’s set on Persephone’s destiny to become the future Queen of the Underworld than ever before.
Tumblr media
October 18th ~ Hermes
[❤️💸💨❤️] Her analysis of Hermes seems to fit the deity, on why he’s the color red (which is also Minthe’s color) since color has meaning in Lore Olympus. Understand that his playful banter is his façade as the god of tricksters, in the end looks out for himself. However, am aware that he will always care about Persephone in his own way.
Tumblr media
October 19th ~ Kronos/Cronus
[☭👪⏳] Cronus/Kronos is probably the being that I hate most.
One thing is clear on the King of Titans, he is the most hated in the Greek world including the person that wrote this particular analysis.
Tumblr media
October 20th ~ The Furies
[💜❤️💛] Her analysis of The Furies was noted and how their existence is a huge deal. Since they’re the enforcers for not just the Underworld, but for the natural order of things.

October 23rd ~ The 6 traitors dynasty
[🔥💀🌾🌊💍🌌] The 6 Traitors Dynasty: This dynasty consist of the Titan Queen Rhea’s sons & Oceanid Metis’ daughters. The reason they’re called “traitors” is that they defied the Titan Empire & rules set before them. The titans and beings before Cronus’ reign ended referred to them that title till this day, one of them is Nyx. She’s the one of primordial gods that emerged from the dawn of creation and is the only immortal more powerful counting stronger than Zeus that he wouldn’t dare challenge with. Nyx could take his throne with the swipe of her hand, however unwilling to since she doesn’t care about power or status, finding the traitors entertaining as well as the Olympians. Surprisingly, Nyx’s presence is soothing to Hades while frightening to Zeus.

Welcome to the APH Percy Jackson AU!
INTRO
Hello! Welcome to the APH PJO AU. We’re the creators, Wonder and Theo, and this is our first time running an au. You may know us from our involvement in the My Heta Academia AU as the muns of ask-hetaaca-nyoprussia and ask-hetaaca-nyogermany, as well as many others. Before we ramble about us, this is what the au is about:
The APH PJO AU is an ask blog based group run by us (Wonder and Theo) that takes place in the Percy Jackson Universe at Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter where the countries are mortal demigods instead.
In this AU, there are endless possibilities for which godly parent your muse has! This means that your muse can’t be a god or a normal human. This also means that your character cannot be the oracle; and only a second muse can be a satyr.
The Hunters of Artemis are available! They are the only characters that can be either demigods or just plain mortal.
Hera, Artemis, and Hestia are not on the table for being godly parents. Hera won’t have relations outside of her marriage, and Artemis and Hestia are maiden goddesses*
*Athena is also a maiden goddess, but her children come out of her head
The Major Gods and Goddesses**
I. Zeus/Jupiter
-Zeus is the god of the sky, lightning and the thunder in Ancient Greek religion and legends, and ruler of all the gods on Mount Olympus. Zeus is the sixth child of Cronos and Rhea, king and queen of the Titans.
II. Hera/Juno
-Hera is the Queen of the Gods and is the wife and sister of Zeus in the Olympian pantheon. She is known for being the Goddess of Marriage & Birth. Despite being the Goddess of Marriage, she was known to be jealous and vengeful towards the many lovers and offspring of her husband Zeus.
III. Poseidon/Neptune
-Poseidon was god of the sea, earthquakes, storms, and horses and is considered one of the most bad-tempered, moody and greedy Olympian gods. He was known to be vengeful when insulted. He is the son of Cronus and Rhea and was swallowed by his father along with Hades, Demeter, Hestia and Hera.
IV. Demeter/Ceres
-Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and presides over grains and the fertility of the earth. Although she was most often referred to as the goddess of the harvest, she was also goddess of sacred law and the cycle of life and death.
V. Ares/Mars
-Ares is the Greek god of war. He is one of the Twelve Olympians, the son of Zeus and Hera. In Greek literature, he often represents the physical or violent and untamed aspect of war and is the personification of sheer brutality, in contrast to his sister, the armored Athena, whose functions as a goddess of intelligence include military strategy and generalship.
VI. Athena/Minerva
-Athena is the Olympian goddess of wisdom and war and the adored patroness of the city of Athens. A virgin deity, she was also – somewhat paradoxically – associated with peace and handicrafts, especially spinning and weaving. Majestic and stern, Athena surpassed everybody in both of her main domains.
VII. Apollo/Apollo
-Apollo is a god in Greek mythology, and one of the Twelve Olympians. He is the son of Zeus and Leto and the twin brother of Artemis. He is the god of healing, medicine, archery, music, poetry and the sun. He is the leader of the Muses. He also is a god of prophecy, and his Oracle at Delphi is very important.
VIII. Artemis/Diana (Hunters of Artemis)
-Artemis was the Greek goddess of hunting, wild nature, and chastity. The daughter of Zeus and sister of Apollo, Artemis was regarded as a patron of girls and young women and a protectress during childbirth
IX. Hephaestus/Vulcan
-Hephaestus was the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture. He was the son of Zeus and Hera and married to Aphrodite by Zeus to prevent a war of the gods fighting for her hand. He was a smithing god, making all of the weapons for Olympus and acting as a blacksmith for the gods.
X. Aphrodite/Venus
-Aphrodite is an ancient Greek goddess associated with love, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation. She was syncretized with the Roman goddess Venus. Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtles, roses, doves, sparrows, and swans.
XI. Hermes/Mercury
-Hermes is a deity in ancient Greek religion and mythology. Hermes is considered the herald of the gods, as well as the protector of human heralds, travellers, thieves, merchants, and orators. He is able to move quickly and freely between the worlds of the mortal and the divine, aided by his winged sandals. Hermes plays the role of the psychopomp or "soul guide" — a conductor of souls into the afterlife.
XII. Dionysus/Bacchus
-Dionysus was the ancient Greek god of wine, winemaking, grape cultivation, fertility, ritual madness, theater, and religious ecstasy. His Roman name was Bacchus. He may have been worshiped as early as 1500-11000 BCE by Mycenean Greeks.
XIII. Hades/Pluto
-Hades, in the ancient Greek religion and myth, is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld, with which his name became synonymous. Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although the last son that was regurgitated by his father.
XIV. Iris/Iris
-Iris, in Greek mythology, the personification of the rainbow and (in Homer's Iliad, for example) a messenger of the gods. According to the Greek poet Hesiod, she was the daughter of Thaumas and the ocean nymph Electra.
XV. Hypnos/Somnus
-Hypnos, Latin Somnus, Greco-Roman god of sleep. Hypnos was the son of Nyx (Night) and the twin brother of Thanatos (Death).
XVI. Nemesis/Nemesis
-In ancient Greek religion, Nemesis, also called Rhamnousia or Rhamnusia ("the goddess of Rhamnous"), is the goddess who enacts retribution against those who succumb to hubris (arrogance before the gods).
XVII. Nike/Victoria
-Nike, in ancient Greek religion, the goddess of victory, daughter of the giant Pallas and of the infernal River Styx.
XVIII. Hebe/Juventas
-Hebe in ancient Greek religion, is the goddess of youth or the prime of life (Roman equivalent: Juventas). She is the daughter of Zeus and his older sister, Hera.
XIX. Tyche/Fortuna
-Tyche, in Greek religion, the goddess of chance, with whom the Roman Fortuna was later identified; a capricious dispenser of good and ill fortune. The Greek poet Hesiod called her the daughter of the Titan Oceanus and his consort Tethys; other writers attributed her fatherhood to Zeus, the supreme god.
XX. Hecate/Trivia
-Hecate or Hekate is a goddess in ancient Greek religion and mythology, most often shown holding a pair of torches or a key and in later periods depicted in triple form. She is variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, night, light, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery.
**There are plenty of minor gods, and we are willing to work with muses that are children of the minor gods but please try to stick to the main 20 we have listed
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE PART OF THIS AU?
- You must apply according to the application form
-You have to follow the set rules
-You need to be a writer and/or an artist
-You need to have at least one visual reference of your muse. This does not have to be good or in the application, but it does have to be somewhere on the blog.
-You don’t have to be fluent in English, just decent enough to be understandable, as most interactions will he in English.
APPLICATIONS
There will be announcements as to whether or not applications are being accepted. The applications are to be submitted before creating a blog. The application form can be found here.
FAQ
“Can I join even if I’m not that good of an artist/writer/not that popular?” Absolutely! Your skill level and popularity don’t matter, just follow the rules and have fun!
“Can I apply a second time if I wasn’t accepted in the first application phase?” Yes, and we encourage you to do that!
“Is it possible to be part of this au even if I don’t know much/anything about Percy Jackson?” You can join even if you know nothing about the series, just please don’t appropriate the gods.
“Can I have two muses?” Yes, but you can only apply for one at a time, and have to have been part of the au for at least a month before getting a second muse.
“Is Discord needed?” No, but it is recommended as it makes interactions and event planning easier.
“Can I apply even if I know I will not be able to update regularly?” Yes, but update at least once a month. Real life comes first, but if something major comes up, talk to one of the mods. We will try to be understanding.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
It's important to mention that there are people who do follow/work/worship these gods, and that while this is an AU, some Pagan/Wiccan followers may not be too keen on how gods are presented in the PJO series. Please be respectful of their beliefs, and listen if they wish to further educate you. Please make sure that you do your own research into modern practices and interpretations as well, it is one thing to understand ancient practice and mythology, but another to understand modern practice. There are many resources and people online more than willing to help educate, please take advantage of that. And please understand that media portrays the gods and goddesses in ways that are not completely accurate and it is best to be somewhat critical when enjoying media such as PJO, Lore Olympus, Marvel, etc.. Followers of the pantheons should also understand that not everyone knows what you know, and to understand that this is an AU and does not reflect the true beliefs and practices one may come to learn and practice under their own deity work. Please be gentle and kind when correcting or educating those who are not practicing. This AU is not meant to be a completely realistic and accurate interpretation of the pantheon(s) and some wiggle room is acceptable when interpreting. Please only correct and educate if it is a common mistake. Please think critically before you jump in to correct, and remember that not everyone is involved on quite an intimate level of knowledge.

Chapter 1
Tumblr media
You find meaning in the thunderstorm.
The way the thunder rolls across the sky in a seamless harmony with the pattering of the raindrops against the tin roof of your home is a lullaby that you could never get tired of. But, it’s the lightning that crashes across the sky that makes your soul come alive, the light almost pink streaks shining light in the black ocean above you.
You’ve been this way since you were younger, in love with the storm. Back then, you would sit in the garage and watch the rain until the storm died, the mist against your skin and smell of the earth mixing with the rain a near religious experience. Now that you’re older though, you find yourself curled up in your reading nook. You’re thankful to have your own place, enjoying the cool breeze that blows in through your open bay windows, something you would have never been able to do in your parents’ house.
You yawn as the tempest lulls you to sleep, curling up under your afghan as the sound of lightning echoes in your mind.
“Don’t you think you’re going a bit overboard?”
Baekhyun smiles, looking down at his brother as he prepares to lose another lightning bolt. “Hera has always loved when I go overboard.”
“Mhm, and I’m sure the mortal she left you over loves it too.” Baekhyun sighs before dropping his bow to his side. “Do you really have to ruin all of my fun, Jongdae?”
“She doesn’t even know you exist, why would you pine over here instead of fixing the relationship with the Goddess you’ve literally spent eternity with?” Jongdae regards him with a curious look on his face as Baekhyun jumps down from his spot in the clouds.
“Because she adores me.”
“She adores what you do. If she knew you, she’d ask how something so beautiful can come from someone so…you.”
“I’ll pretend like that didn’t hurt.” Jongdae shrugs as he puts his coat back on.
“It wasn’t meant to be rude, just an observation.”
Baekhyun follows Jongdae to the Realms entrances, leaning against the door to Jongdaes’ scrunching his nose. “It always smells salty by your door. What happened to the little smell good trees Hermes gave you?”
“You mean the air fresheners that the mortals use in their cars? I threw them away. It’s the ocean, what do you expect?”
“You don’t smell salty.”
“Will you move?” Baekhyun rolls his eyes before pushing himself off of the door, giving Jongdae the freedom to leave. “Be honest, why are you so obsessed with that girl?”
“Something the Fates said.” Jongdae scoffs as if he’s offended by the very idea and dismisses it with a wave of his hand. “You can’t believe everything those old fools say.”
“They were right about you and Medusa.” Jongdaes’ face flushes, the male coughs to clear his throat and shrugs. “That’s old news. They haven’t said anything relevant in ages.”
“We’re all in it. You, me and-“
“Don’t’ say his name.”
“You know, he’s technically the one who has the right to be mad, not you. Besides, are you really going to hold that grudge when the world ends?” Jongdae laughs, an empty and joyless sound. “This wouldn’t even be in the works if the mortals still knew we existed.”
It’s an argument the two of you have had countless times over the centuries and it always comes back to the same result.
Baekhyun is tired of being feared.
Before, back when the Greeks knew of the Olympians existence, it was a pure, unadulterated worship. There was no fear, apart from the one that is hardwired into every human beings make up, the fear of disappointment. But even that doesn’t count to Baekhyun as anything in the comparison with the fear of inferiority.
When the Romans came, with Gods of their own things changed. With the battle of Corinth, that led to the destruction of the city in what the mortals called 146 BC, the people of Greece feared what their beloved Gods would do to exact revenge on the Romans, and their worship changed from one of adoration to one of necessity of fear and destruction.
That’s when the visits to the mortal realm stopped, and with them, so did the belief in the Olympians at all, apart from the stragglers that were few and far between.
“You know why.”
“A little fear never hurt anyone.”
“You’re starting to sound like Chanyeol.”
“Goodbye Baekhyun.” Jongdae presses his palm against the distressed white door and Baekhyun watches in amazement, as he always has, as the door slowly turns from wood into a wall of water. “Find something more productive to do that pine over a girl who won’t live a fraction of your own life.” Jongdae passes through the water with a wave, not a drop of ocean falling out of place.
Baekhyun stares as the door reforms and long after that. He knows Jongdae means well, has always been the wisest brother, but sometimes, Baekhyun wishes the Sea God would stay in the sea. Though that would mean he’d always be alone.
When Hera finally got tired of his shit, she left their clouded fortress at the top of Mount Olympus and with her, so did their children. So then, their great trophy from Gigantomachy, the battle of young Gods, the Olympians and the Titans, became another empty thing to join Baekhyun in his loneliness.
Part of him missed Hera, though he wasn’t sure if it was out of adoration, or if he missed the familiarity of her.
He has always been bad at being alone.
A glow from the door to the Underworld pull him from the thought path he’s been traveling down a lot lately, since a year ago when he found you; you who he believed to be the answer to everything.
“What does he want?” Baekhyun mumbles to himself more than to the empty house before pressing his palm against the dark green door. The color always brings up something melancholy in him as he remembers Persephone’s excitement when she finally got to repaint the door.
Her rose bushes, that have long since wilted, line the path to Chanyeol’s cottage, fitting in perfectly with the eternal night that covers the Underworld.
“You rang?” Baekhyun regards Chanyeol curiously, staring at his stretched-out figure, lounging in his favorite hammock, overlooking his domain.
“I figured you were lonely now that the storm is over. Jongdae usually darts pretty quickly.”
“How do you know that?” Chanyeol gestures lazily to the floating, black orb at his feet. “Oh yeah... the faeries.”
“Yeah… the faeries.” Chanyeol can’t help but to sigh at the nickname given to his messengers by his late wife.
“How are you holding up?” Baekhyun knows the answer to this, it’s been the same for the last century, but he asks anyway as he settles into the patio chair next to his brother. It’s almost pitying the way Persephone haunts the Underworld, traces of her existence refusing to fade away.
“As well as expected. You’d think her plants would have wasted away by now, without her here to tend for them. She’s not coming back, I don’t know what they’re hoping for.” There’s a trace of anger in Chanyeols’ voice, like he wishes her ghost would disappear, but he can’t bring himself to erase her.
“There’s always-“
“Don’t, Baekhyun. You’ve been holding on to that prophecy since she died. Still watching that mortal?”
“You know, when they turn out to be right, like they always are, you and Jongdae are going to look really stupid.” Chanyeol scoffs and turns to face Baekhyun.
“Baek. Look me in the eyes and tell me that you honestly believe that you are supposed to be with some mortal and that we are supposed to stop the Titans from rising again, which by the way, there’s almost no possible way for them to escape their prison. Tell me that you believe Hera, who has put up with all of your adultery and lies for the last some odd millennia that we’ve been alive, isn’t who you’re meant to reside on Mount Olympus with for the rest of our days.” Baekhyun meets Chanyeols gaze, almost mesmerized by his brothers brownish orange eyes and sighs. “I thought so.”
“It’s not that I doubt them Chanyeol. It’s that I can’t afford not to. I cant think about how I’ve given everything I’ve known for it not to be true.”
Chanyeol nods like he understands but doesn’t say anything. This is how his relationship has always been with his brother. When the two were younger, they’d stay like this in the valley most days to hide from Cronus, their father. Jongdae was always the more serious of the three, following their mother Rhea around like a lost puppy at her heels.
“Can I be honest with you Baekhyun?” Chanyeols’ voice is soft as he looks over the amber glow from the souls of his realm and Baekhyun almost doesn’t hear him, the whine of the wind carrying it away. Chanyeol doesn’t wait for him to answer before he speaks again.
“I need them to be wrong, the Fates.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t think I can handle another loss like Persephone. It’s hard enough, still seeing the echoes of her everywhere. If what the Moirai say is true, then I have 70 years top before I’m right back here.” It’s the most open Baekhyun has ever heard his brother be. He knew the death of Persephone still tormented him, but he never imagined it would affect him like this. In the thousands of years that he’s been alive, he’s never seen Chanyeol be this; be afraid.
“Maybe you should come spend time with me and get out of this literal graveyard for a while.”
“And see Dae? I think I’ll pass.”
“So we won’t have another storm for a while. The mortals are already destroying their realm, a few weeks without rain won’t change anything. You need fresh air, without the constant reminder of Kore.”
Chanyeol cocks a half smile, brushing his blonde hair from his forehead as he contemplates. “And what exactly, will I do in Olympus?”
“Who said anything about Olympus?”
You’re waken by the sun coming through your windows, and the warm breeze as your air heater kicks on. You could barely sleep last night, tossing and turning at the too quiet world in the absence of the rain.
It’s always like this for you.
Begrudgingly, you climb out of bed, making quick work of a shower and dressing before eating a breakfast your mother would have scolded you about and walking out the door. The weather is turning, a cool breeze blowing in from the East. It kisses your cheeks, sending a chill down your body that causes you to pull the lapels of your petticoat jacket tighter around you as you walk to work.
The tattoo parlor you work in as a receptionist has been like your second home since you moved out to Portland four years ago and your co-workers never fail you make you feel like family every time you walk through the door. “Hey Cloud Walker, how’s your morning?”
“Morning, Fanny. It’s been going pretty good. How about yours?” It’s warm in the shop and you’re quick to shed your jacket and scarf, hanging them on the coat rack before checking the appointment book at your counter. “You’re on walk-ins today, yeah?”
“Correct. And considering my 12 canceled, I need them.”
“Did Sunflower mention if she was coming in early today, or is she not coming in until her appointment comes in?”
“She didn’t say. Patch is coming in early.” You hum in response as you erase Fanny’s appointment for twelve oclock today, writing walk ins across the top of her name.  “Your newest addition is still looking good. Do you think it needs a touch up anywhere?” Her hands are warm against your wrist as she looks over the stratocumulus clouds you added to your sky sleeve last week. “No, I think it’s okay.”
Fanny grins and pats your wrist before letting it go, turning away from you as she heads back to her station, working on some of her latest tattoo ideas, leaving you up front to go through emails and appointment requests.
You’re just finishing ringing out Patchs’ 2 o’clock appointment when the bell above your front door rings, pulling your attention to the two men that walk in.
Their height difference amuses you for some reason, yet at the same time you find yourself enthralled by their presence. The taller one has his hands shoved in his pockets, blonde hair pushed back framing his undercut. There’s an amused look on his face, corners of his lips twisted up into a smirk as he looks to the shorter one.
He looks nervous. His white hair is in small waves atop his head, peaking over his eyebrows slightly, which are slightly furrowed as he approaches the desk. “Hi, welcome to The Parthenon.  Did you have an appointment?”
The taller one laughs, running his fingers through his hair. “That’s a great name. No we didn’t have appointments, we were wondering if you took walk-ins?”
“Yeah, we do. Fanny is with a client right now, but I can see if Sunflower wants to take one, what are you looking to get?”
“I was wanting something else added here, another flower maybe.” The taller shrugs out of his hoodie to reveal a sleeve of flowers decorating his left arm. The detail is exquisite, and it all still looks new, lines dark and colors saturated, but something tells you that he’s had them forever. “My brother though, he’s not sure what he wants. Maybe you could give him an idea?”
“Yeah, let me go grab Sunflower and get the two of you set up, and I’ll be back with a few of our books and we can look through them together, how’s that sound?”
The white haired male nods, flashing you a smile as you move to grab an artist.
“What the fuck, Chanyeol?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this silent. I think this was a great idea.” Baekhyun goes to open his mouth, but stops when he sees you coming back, followed by a black haired girl. “This is Sunflower, if you want to follow her, she can do some free draws in that empty spot on your sleeve and discuss a price with you.” You look at the taller one who has a grin on his face and nods. “Lead the way.”
Baekhyun wonders if Chanyeol can feel the way he tenses ever so slightly beside him as the older brother plasters a grin to his face and following the girl you brought back. “If you want to come sit on the side of the counter, we can go over a few ideas. Do you have an idea of what you want?”
“Uh, no, I’m not sure. I do like your clouds though. I take it you’re not a fan of the sunshine.”
You laugh and Baekhyun swears that not even the Muses could create a sound as beautiful. He’s almost entranced by the way your chestnut hair sways back and forth as you shake your head. “No, storms are my happy place.”
“Wow, same honestly. I love the lightning.”
“So do I! The heat lightning is my favorite, though we don’t get much of it here.”
“No, I would imagine not. It’s pretty cool here.” You nod, humming to yourself as you flip through the books, trying to find Baekhyun something that he could care less about. You bring a few to his attention, different types of ideas being brought to his attention, before he notices Sunflower say she’s ready to start with Chanyeol’s tattoo and he stands. “I think you’ve inspired me.”
“Oh? Well let me go get Fanny and you can tell her what it is you’d like.”
The sun has barely moved in the sky by the time Baekhyun is done with his tattoo. You smile sweetly at him as he walks to the counter, curiosity painting your face. “So what’d you get?”
Baekhyun holds out his hand. Between his index finger and thumb, on the back of his hand sits a small, black lightning bolt. The grin that breaks out on your face reminds him that it was worth the trip from his oasis. “Cloud Walker, do 50.”
“Cloud Walker, huh? I take it that’s not your real name?”
“No, it’s Y/N. It’s a nickname I’ve had since I moved here.”
“I think it suits you.”
“And how about you? What’s your name?”
“My name’s Baekhyun.”
