Hi! So I've been away from st fandom since around mid season 3, and I've been getting really into creelarke! I was going through your blog to catch up on what I've missed, and saw your post about how creelson is an instant softblock, and after looking up what the ship was, I don't really understand why?/gen
It looks like a goofy crack ship steming from kas!eddie theories and memes, not really a very serious ship. I think i missed whatever is problematic about it/ the shippers.
I really don't want to start any shipping drama, but just am really confused and feel like I'm unaware of something/I'm missing something from the tags
Sorry if you're uncomfortable and don't want to answer this, no pressure
Yeah okay for sure I can explain!
Creelson is an instant softblock based on ages alone. As of ST4, Eddie's either 17 or 19 depending on your source, and Henry/Edward/One is 39 or 42, again depending on your source.
There's also the version that ships Victor Creel with Wayne Munson, even though Wayne talks about being a kid when the Creel murders happened, i.e. when Victor was 35 or 40 (once again depending on the source).
Either way...the ages in both versions make me massively uncomfortable.
I can get with Creelson along the lines of Alan and Henry, since they went to school together/they were in the school play together, and Alan gives me major fruit vibes. I can get with that, if it's done well and stays in character.
There's also the fact that, on a more personal-opinion basis...a lot of Creelson Henry stuff gets his characterization way wrong. Like...intolerably wrong, imho. It's grating to me, and I don't want it on my dashboard. I'm a stickler for characterization, it's make-or-break for me when it comes to any ship.
