SPOILERS C3E38
Turn ye back.
If ya haven’t seen, cause a lot happened.
-
-
-
Laudna being back and seeing her so *utterly* stunned by how her home had changed. Laughter in the streets, children who have *never* felt the touch of Delilah’s evil coming up to her excitedly, bonding with this ancient being that was forced to become the source of her trauma.
I can’t get the thought of it seeing her again out of my mind. I get it’s a Tree, but it is basically Pelor’s child.
Just in that chill voice that he has, “Hey Tilly, there’s that old smile. I’m so sorry for what they made me do to you.
That interesting moment of her Form of Dread changing to resembled the cast Tree in some form or another.
Pate is alive which is *amazing but was both incredibly jarring in the moment*
All the elation of the party members to have her back but her first thought is Imogen’s troubles.
But also Imodna better Damn happen or I swear to gods.
Letters description of his gifted coin and how it mirrored him made my heart feel warm.
But I can’t believe for all that comfort this episode still ended with a hollow tone.
Ariks Eshteross, the Bruce Wayne of Exandria, now dead’s never to return.
God I wish I could have seen that fight.
And I’m not even sure with everything that’s happened that he is resting easy as he wished.
I wonder what the other letters say.
See y’all in two weeks.
Though, I might write something here in a sec.

I wonder what sort of things FCG said to Dancer and the rest of the DPB when he killed them all? He said some real Fucked Up Shit when attacking the Hells, and hes only known them a month - his former party was at least a year and a half

FCG’s heroic sacrifice
“I am alive. I am alive for the first time. And I am alive, not because I was made by D or Dancer or even the Changebringer. I’m alive because they made me alive. And it’s the connections that I made with all of them. And it’s a feeling of joy. And I’m happy to do this, because they saved my life and I’ll save theirs.” - Fresh Cut Grass

also. i absolutely adored what lovm did with the pass through fire quote
but then it makes me emotional about the original context, so i have to share that too (minor plot spoilers ahead)
because it wasn't originally to do with the ashari at all. it was from patrick rothfuss' guest character, a blacksmith named kerrek, who helped vox machina fight against the dragon in westruun, and helped keyleth personally through some difficult stuff (he may yet appear on lovm, but given the context of the quote now i doubt we'll get all of it)
and a little after kerrek's episode, patrick rothfuss actually made a legit letter from kerrek to keyleth, with a present inside, and left it with matt until whatever point in the plot she was able to recieve it
which by coincidence was one of the hardest moments in the whole campaign for her
and this letter had marisha legit crying in the episode, because it's just. so beautiful, and so needed. and it goes:
Keyleth,
I write to let you and your companions know that the repair of Westruun is proceeding well. I will not bore you with the details. Suffice to say that our children are well-fed and safe, our elderly and infirm are cared for and comfortable. Without the help of you and yours, this would not be the case.
The folk in charge argue constantly, but that is to be expected, and it is no bad thing. They all want the same good things in different ways. I listen, mostly, and do what I can to make sure that they listen to each other. Without listening, nothing good can happen.
The town... when I say the repair is going well, it is a hard thing for me to talk about. I am not a particularly clever man, and much of this is new to me. When you make a mistake with metal, you can melt things down and start afresh. It is irritating, and it costs in time and soot and sweat, but it can be done. There is a comfort in iron, knowing that a fresh start is always possible. But a city is not a sword. It is a living thing, and living things defy simple fixing. Roots cannot be reforged. They scar, and broken branches must be cut and sealed with tar, and this makes me angry, as it always has, and my anger has no place to go.
It was easier when I was young. I could use my anger like a hammer against the world. I was so sure of myself and my friends and my rightness. I would hammer at the world, and breaking felt like making to me, and I was good at it. And while I was not wrong, neither was I entirely right. Nothing is simple.
I do not work in wood. I am not brave enough for that. There is a comfort in iron, a promise of safety, a second chance if mistakes are made. But a city is more a forest than a sword. No, it needs more tending than that.
Perhaps a city is like a garden, then. So these days, it seems I have become a gardener. I dig foundations in the earth. I sow rows of houses. I plan and plant. I watch the skies for rain and ruin. I cannot help but think that you would be better at this, but circumstance has put both of us in our own odd place. You are forced to be a hammer in the world, and my ungentle hands are learning how to tend a plot of land. We must do what we can do.
Did you know that there are some seeds that cannot sprout unless they are first burned? A friend once told me that. She was... she was a bookish sort. I think of gardening constantly these days. I wear your gift, and I think of you, and I think it is interesting that there are some living things that need to pass through fire before they flourish.
I ramble. You have the heart of a gardener, and because of this, you think of consequence, and your current path pains you. I am not wise, and I do not give advice, but I have come to know a few things: sometimes breaking is making. Even iron can start again. And there are many things that move through fire and find themselves much better for it afterward.
I have enclosed a gift. Once it was a sword, but it has changed. It is a small thing, and silly. Please forgive an old man for his foolishness. Still, I hope it brings you some small comfort.
Kindly, Kerr.
and the present inside the envelope? a ring, engraved with the phrase "I have passed through fire."

C3E43 SPOILERS!
Turn back!
-
-
NOW!
-
-
Finally! Truth revealed! Lore beheld! Mysteries deepening! And Ashton missed it all due to “things.”
The first true appearance of Planerider Ryn, awesome!
The reveal that Otohan/Cerberus/Unseelie Plot have made three devices that act as “anchors/tethers.” Worrying. Are they trying to pull Ruidus to them, tie themselves to it, or pull, and pull, and pull until everything comes the fuck apart.
And how does Ira, who stated he believes they will fail and has his own intentions for the Solstice possibly fuck it all up?
Imogen’s mom is with the baddies…can see that ending in all sorts of tragic ways.
But that only moves forward if they get outta the damn basement unaccosted.
It felt for so long like this campaign was bull-rushing towards a confrontation that admittedly felt like the End Game. Not sure if anyone felt like that? But now…with how Matt has panned it out, I think the confrontation in the Valley during the Solstice will be a similar climax to the “war” with Obann but part of me also sees Exandria getting changed in some vast unexpected way. Likely Otohan and Ludenis will return when they’re in the double digits, and the dangers *on* Ruidus beyond that.
Speaking of which.
Predathos, Ethedok, Vordo. New names but ancient ones. What befalls an eaten god? Is their death for certain, or are they trapped within this ancient predator?
This opens so many more questions. What were the Gods original, to have a Predator? Survivors of another world given intent. Multiversal Travelers. Victims Fleeing Extinction? How does Predathos compare to Tharizdun? To the Luxon?
Is it not odd that the first mortal two ascend, a Ruidusborn arose to claim the portfolios of of said fallen Gods? Fate and Winter, tied to Death? Who was she…what did she know? Did she know anything at all about the Red Moon? What did the other Gods think to see said Mortal snap up the domains of their long lost brethren?
The Deities and the Titans, historicized as enemies until Betrayal split the former United, the Travelers and the Children of the Luxon, to lock away this vast being. Who succeeded where *Tharizdun* failed.
So then, as Brennan said Asmodeus lied very little 8 centuries ago in his rants to “The Holy Man”.
A Promise had been made, a bond forged in fear and necessity and the mores of survival.
And the Prime…threw it aside because of *one* mortal. Again I ask, who where they, to be so beloved of the Gods?
Also if the city is truly home to only the Children of Predathos. Then we’ve got Aliens folks.
Also sudden thought.
Predathos is like a weird in between of Tharizdun and The Luxon, two beings that are also old and eldritch and not truly part of the main pantheon.
The Luxon is Life, Boundless Life and Light and Moment, carrying on and on, bringing back the deceased to live once more. Eternity.
Tharizdun is Destruction, an endless consuming hunger and darkness that gives nothing back but madness. It can not create only Warp. Entropy.
Predathos, Consumes Yet Gives Life. It Shatters Minds But Enlivens Their Potential. It is a Lightning Strike Competing Light and Shadow, Intensity and Finality.
One Gives, the Other Takes, the Final Makes.
Can’t wait for next time, as we delve into Fey or Shadow, Chaos or Victory. I say, Nevermind, that Blood Red Moon, the Night Will be Over Soon.
It’s been a fantastic year offering my transcriptions, theories and tales to you all! Have a Merry Holiday, and a Happy New Year!
Can’t wait for it to be Thursday Again. See y’all then.
PS: The fuck is up with that bird?
