Pōneke!!

TERF neo-nazi Posie Parker is in town this Sunday 26th March (well, most likely, she's gotta get through immigration still, although I doubt they'll stop her). There is a counter protest occurring at Civic Square, starting at 2pm, which from my understanding is when she's meant to be speaking. We need to come together in force, and show the transphobes, homophobes, neo-nazis, and general scum of Aotearoa that their beliefs hold no power over us and the members of the community they are trying to oppress.

This is intended to be a peaceful counter protest. Mayor Tory Whanau has said she is personally against the views that Posie holds, but no one wants a repeat of the hell she just created in Melbourne, so the police will be working to ensure that both Posie's event and any counter protests remain peaceful.

Bring signs, wear your pride pins, prepare a chant, share around info around counter protests. Be there.

Trans rights are human rights.

Racism is not an opinion.

Aotearoa is better than this.

In Canada today there was a protest against teaching kids about queer people. I went to a counter protest today. Most of the people demanding that we leave their kids seemed to also bring their kids ages from babies to early teens. We were flipped off, sworn at, called names, you name it by them and their kids. The protesters in the city I went to was largely Muslim but they didn't care actual white supremacist were there.

It was a lot. I was so loud with the protesters driving back and forth honking and grabbing at pride flags. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had been out in the sun too much and have almost reached an autistic burnout.

so, a group of people who call themselves "abolishinists" came to my hometown from out of state, and showed gory pics of aborted fetuses to a bunch of children all week, and I had the opportunity to go and counter protest them. I was the first one there, but I ran into a group of Satanists from The Satanic Grotto, and became friends with them, and honestly, I had so much fun. I was finally able to do something that felt like I was helping my community in a way that made more of an impact on the people in the city than just writing to our legislation, which trust me, that's real important, like probably more so that this, but the fact that we went all day, and we picked up so many people along the way was just such a cool experience.

‘I felt my rib give’: people attacked by police while protesting anti-drag demo speak out

“‘The police were pushing us back extremely forcefully, and kicking us pretty heavily. I have a big bruise on the back of my legs and on my shins. It was at that point that I felt my rib give, basically.’

“Jessica Walsh, a 32-year-old south Londoner who turned up to oppose a rightwing demo against a drag story-telling event at the Honor Oak Pub in Lewisham, didn’t expect to come away with a fractured rib – and at the hands of the Met. ‘There was one of them who was literally pushing into my back with his elbow, digging into my ribs. They were really trying to hurt us, I think to make sure we weren’t going to try and do this again.’

“Walsh is just one of a number of people who faced extreme violence from the police ...

“One south London local, who wished to remain anonymous, reported being “elbowed in the head three times” and kicked repeatedly. ‘It seemed like they were trying to break our legs,’ he said. ‘I’ve not really experienced something like that before.’

“Another reported being ‘picked up by the throat and thrown’, as well as witnessing a child of around 13 or 14 ‘being hit and kicked’.”

Ooh! I've got an idea of how the Anti-Ecto Acts could be stopped from ratification. Let's say it's a DPxDC crossover universe, for the sake of this argument. The GIW and Fenton parents- as well as plenty of other anti-ghost people, I'm sure- are trying to lobby for the Anti-Ecto Acts only to find out that the law doesn't pass because there's this one single House of Representatives member that doesn't believe in ghosts. And therefore! The Anti-Ecto Acts must be for something else that they're hiding from the public, and ergo, he refuses to sign off on it. He had been on the fence, and he was the last vote needed for it to pass on to the next stage. And because he chose not to, he is the only reason it doesn't pass.

So the Fenton parents petition him and try to explain to him the scientific 'evidence' they have on ghosts, and the HoR member still thinks it's bullshit because ghosts have to be magic, if they do exist, so there's no way any of this scientific baloney is true. But the Fenton parents don't give up, and keep presenting him evidence and information in any way they can after he continuously stone walls them or gets them kicked out of his office (and really, they're lucky he hasn't gotten a restraining order against them), but then! One day, he actually starts to listen to them. He sits there and looks at all the evidence contemplatively, and they think they've finally won him over.

From their list of evidence, he points out every single ectoplasmic entity that came to Amity Park that was not a ghost or even human shaped. Like Cujo or Wulf or even Undergrowth. He argues that these guys can't be ghosts! Even the ones that are human-shaped surely can't be ghosts; Kryptonians are human-shaped but they aren't biologically human! And therefore, these guys must not be ghosts of any sort, and they must be a whole other species of being! And we all know that alien or extraterrestrial species are protected under the Metahuman Rights Act and- gasp, have you been trying to convince me to ban an entire species, OUT OF MY OFFICE!!

And that's how the Fenton parents get banned from Washington D.C. And that's why Danny picks out a political science major when he goes to college!
