Where do I even begin? I'm appalled. The Canadian government living up to its roots in colonial-settler violence... this is beyond criminal. Contact your MP's. This erasure and anti-Palestinian racism is unacceptable.

Registered sex offenders in Ontario would not be able to legally change their names if a bill that's before the legislature passes.
The legislation jointly introduced this week by Progressive Conservatives Laurie Scott and Laura Smith is all but ensured passage, with their party -- which has a majority in the legislature-- supporting it.
"This bill, if passed, will stop the Karla Homolkas from becoming the Leanne Teales," Smith said, referring to the infamous killer and her name change.
"We just feel that the right to change somebody's name should not be abused. We want to strengthen our province's commitment to zero tolerance to these offenders and their heinous crimes and put our full support behind the victims and the families ... We have to close up this loophole."
🇵🇸🇨🇦 The vandalism of a landmark Palestinian flag street art in Montreal by Zionists is a despicable act. However, the resilience of Palestinian youth, who are restoring it to its former glory, is inspiring. This reaffirms the unwavering commitment to the cause of a Free Palestine.
Do you think the price of shit is too damn expensive? Do you think that disabled people should get better help with the cost of living?
Behold: This petition
This petition is calling for a CERB-type payment for disabled people ("DERB") to help them bridge the gap while the govt works on creating a better disability assistance system - currently planned for 2025 (but it has been delayed before, so we shall see...)
Disability income ranges greatly from province to province, but it's always WELL below the poverty line. The way things are, disability payments are so pathetic that none are sufficient enough to cover even the cost of rent. This year, barely any are sufficient enough to cover even HALF the rent... so, roommates? Not a solution anymore.
Where I live, the assistance my partner got was $850 a month in 2017. This year, had they still been on it, they would have gotten $950.
The average rent here in 2017 - $900/mo
The average rent here in 2023 - $1800/mo
It's rough out there.
Anyway, thanks for reading this, here's a pic of my cat Bean :) Hreef.
Johnny Carson was in disbelief when Angie Dickinson informed him that people watched the Tonight Show in British Columbia.
Dickinson had just finished filming a movie with Rod Steiger in the small Canadian towns of Hope, Yale, and Barkerville.
Angie Dickinson: Your show is seen in Canada…
Johnny Carson: Are we?
Angie Dickinson: Yes, very much so.
Johnny Carson: Not in the Yukon!
Angie Dickinson: Yes, I think so … It’s gorgeous …
Johnny Carson: What is there to do in the Klondike?
Angie Dickinson: I worked there. I didn’t vacation or live there, so it’s different. Now, what do they do? They watch you.
Johnny Carson: I know we [the Tonight Show] get into Toronto or Montreal because it’s broadcast from Buffalo, New York. But I don’t think we get up…
Angie Dickinson: Yes, you do. I saw you in Hope or Yale, which ever city I was in, which is in British Columbia.
Johnny Carson: [to his producer] Now, Fred, how would we be seen there?
Ed McMahon: Cable.
Fred DeCordova: Over the border. Over the border.
Ed McMahon: Our show beams right over.
Johnny Carson: I did not know that.
Angie Dickinson: I was able to tell you something you didn’t know?
Johnny Carson: I didn’t know that at all … I didn’t know we went into Hope and Yale.
Hey all for whoever doesn't know, my home province of British Columbia is on fire currently and tons of people are on evacuation notice, and I haven't really seen any media about it, so just here spreading awareness
