I watched Les Miserables live! With a friend who knew nothing about it outside of the song One Day More
they didn’t expect so much death
referred to Les Amis as “the twinks”
thought Javert was hot and shipped him with Jean Valjean
referred to Cosette as Casenoisette and Casoupee
shipped Enjoltaire (they called them the drunk one and human Shrek, they thought the actor plying Enjolras looked like human Shrek)
also in this production when Thenardier sings “this one’s a queer, but what can you do,” instead he said “this one’s a queer, think I’ll try it to,” and swept a guy into a dip. They called this iconic, they are correct.
Enjolras and Grantaire were perfect. The actor of Grantaire understood the assignment. So many yearning looks and his desperation to stop enjolras right before he dies. Grantaire last one alive then climbs the barricade finally and then is shot dead.
also he was close with Gavroche which made it really hurt when he died.
also the Javert bridge fall was done in such a freaking cool way it’s hard to explain.
I know some of this is just part of the touring production, but it’s my first time seeing the show live since I was six.
Also Jean Valjean had the voice of an angel, but with his grey hair from a distance he looked like Connor Roy

hey! if you have time, do you have any recommendations on what comics to read for a good grounding for the arrows? i know you have a roy-specific reading list, but if you have any comics recs for the family in general, or especially mia and connor, i would be forever in ur debt 💜 thanks!!
Sure! Here's a Green Arrow/Arrowfam recs list, with emphasis on Connor and Mia, in chronological order:
Green Lantern/Green Arrow: This has been collected under various names but anything with "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" in there is likely to get you what you're looking for. These are the iconic Hal/Ollie teamup stories from the 70s by Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams (originally published as Green Lantern (1960) #76-87 and #89. Ollie had been around since 1941 but it wasn't until around this time that he really developed into the character we know him as today, and this is a great introduction to that. It also contains "Snowbirds Don't Fly" and "They'll Say It'll Kill Me But They Won't Say When," the two-part Roy addiction storyline; the beginnings of Ollie's relationships with Hal and Dinah; and John Stewart's first appearance. These comics are 50 years old so they are definitely dated in many ways, but they're masterpieces and so, so beautiful to look at.
Green Arrow v1 (1983): This four issue miniseries is hard to find but I love it. It's basically what if Ollie starred in an Agatha Christie novel, and it's so fun.
The Longbow Hunters: The miniseries that created the "modern" Ollie (this was in 1987 but that's still "modern" according to comics historians). Ollie and Dinah relocate to Seattle and deal with several serial killers, including Shado. Great characterization, beautiful art. Content warning for sexual violence and torture.
Green Arrow v2 (1989): Continues on from The Longbow Hunters and runs for 137 issues. The first 80 issues are written by Mike Grell (who wrote and drew The Longbow Hunters) and they're all very solid. If you're just looking for Connor, he is introduced in #0, which comes between #90 and #91 (comics lol); he's a regular character until #100, at which point Ollie dies and Connor becomes the lead for the rest of the book. If you really just want to read about Connor, you can completely skip to #102, which is the first one he stars in properly, and just read from there. He's delightful in them and the art is solid. Content warning in that Connor's globetrotting adventures mean a lot of ethnic stereotypes and orientalism, sadly.
Green Arrow v3 (2001): This is the book where Ollie comes back. It begins with "Quiver" by Kevin Smith and Phil Hester which is my FAVORITE GA book of all time and serves up Arrowfamily in a way it's never been served before: we get Dinah, Roy, Connor, AND this story introduces Mia! This volume unfortunately gets worse as it goes along and by #60 it is hot garbage but I would recommend the following key issues:
#11-15, "Sounds of Violence," in which Connor gets shot and Ollie loves him so so so much.
#32, in which Roy and Connor bond.
#34-39, in which the Arrowfam fights the Riddler and Demons; a very good Mia story.
#43-45, in which Mia is diagnosed as HIV positive and becomes the new Speedy.
Green Arrow v I don't even know anymore, the Rebirth volume (2016): After about a decade of just unreadably horrible comics, this is very much a return to form for Ollie: he's a swashbuckler who is dating Dinah and raging against injustice again, and that's how I like him. It's not a perfect comic but it was such a breath air after so many years of crap.
Green Arrow v who knows (2023): This is the current comic and it is a shot of joy straight to my heart every single month. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Hello! Do you have any recommendations for Roy Harper reading? I'm not bothered about which continuity or where, just if you had a suggestion for where you think he's best 👀
If you wanna go back to some older stuff you can check out the silver age green arrow comics and Teen Titans 1966, I'm not the BIGGEST fan of TT 1966 but it does have some cute and funny moments.
I mainly read Bronze Age to Modern age so we'll go with that moving forward.
Green Lantern(1960) #85-86
This is Snow Birds don't fly and Roy's most iconic story, It introdcues Roy's struggle with heroin and is pretty sympathetic to addicts which was QUITE the big deal at the time. I also think its important for to me say Ollie is not the best parent in this one, he reacts out of anger and is incredibly upset with both Roy and himself for Roy's addiction. OLLIE DOES LOVE ROY AND IS USUALLY QUITE A GOOD PARENT, THIS IS ONE MOMENT THAT DOES NOT DEFINE HIM OR HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH ROY. MUST READ not just for Roy but for comic book history in general
Action Comics(1939) #32
This one is a small one shot thats post snowbirds. Roy is on his own but it shows that he and Ollie still care about eachother and that Ollie really misses Roy.
The New Titans(1984) #20-21
THE REVEAL OF LIAN'S EXISTENCE !!!!! ALSO JADEROY!! also itty bitty robin Jason is in this story. ABSOLUTE MUST READ
Action Comics(1938) #613-618
I LOVE THIS STORY I LOVE THIS STORY I LOVE THIS STORY. It hurts me but i love it... Jade and Roy and Lian... It also shows how Roy ended up getting Lian. other than that I will say no more... ABSOLUTE MUST READ
Titans(1999) #1-2
Lot's of Cute content with Roy and Lian here. I wouldn't consider it an absolute must read but again its fucking adorable so i recommend it.
Titans(1999) #6
Donna Kyle and Roy beat up a Nazi with a tragic backstory or whatever, meanwhile Lian is being babysit by someone her mom has personally affected.
Titans(1999) #8-13
JADEROY!!! JADEROY!!!! LIAN!!!! Deals with the aftermath of the previous rec. Also some DonnaRoy which is admittedly cute. This story kinda covers all the moral complications of Roy and Jade and Lian. How Jade's crimes affect them all, as well as how Roy feels about Jade. I would consider this one a must read.
Titans(1999) #21-22
Aftermath of previous rec, Chesire is being held to be tried. I realize a lot of these recs are relate to JadeRoy and Lian but they are so important to his character. If you enjoyed the previous story read this one, but i wouldn't recommend it in a vacuum.
Titans(1999) #30
More JadeRoy, I am predictable. This is Jade's trial. If you like the previous two storylines read this. It makes me sad it makes me emo I love Jade so much and she went through so much and it doesnt excuse here actions but it still hurts. Roy makes a decision.
Roy appears prominently in The Outsiders but i haven't read it all yet so i can't speak on it.
Green Arrow(2001) 1-10
This is an ArrowFam MUST READ. Ollie returns from the dead, mia is introduced, Ollie and Connor, and Ollie reuinites with Roy and Dinah. It's very good.
Green Arrow(2001) #16-21
General ArrowFam goodness. Ollie and Roy Goodness. Just,,, emotions.... Ollie is Roy''s dad... I weep...
Justice Leauge of America(2006) #1

I’m doing this in one shot and off the top of my head, so I will be missing characters, I do also welcome suggestions.
Logan Roy: Patrick Page
Is this the obvious first choice? Yes. Is it the correct one? Also yes.
Kendall Roy: Lucas Steele
Kendall is just Anatole if he didn’t have a close relationship with his sister.
Roman Roy: Brandon Uranowitz
He played a nice neurotic freak in Falsettos, let's see him play an evil neurotic freak.
Shiv Roy: Eden Espinoza
I'll be honest, if I was genuinely casting a Succession musical as a real casting director, I would look for a more unknown performer to play Shiv, because I firmly believe that Shiv Roy should be an alto part, heavy in the lower range (like basically a tenor). Shiv's plot revolves around trying to push past her gender to be taken seriously, and I think having her being an alto who stays in her lower register would really highlight how hard she's trying to be taken seriously. That said, I would not at all be disappointed to have Eden Espinoza in the part. She's insanely talented, and I would love to see her interpretation of Shiv.
Connor Roy: Josh Groban
So there's a clip of The Opera from "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" where the ensemble sings "Pierre, the cuckold, sits at home", and then Pierre pops up saying "No, I am enjoying myself at home this evening" while giving a sad little thumbs up, while his wife is off banging another man? That's the energy I want for my Connor Roy.
Tom Wambsgans: Brian D'Arcy James
Is he maybe a little old for the part? Sure. But age onstage is fucky, and Brian D’Arcy James would absolutely kill it as the combination ass-kisser and ruthless bastard that is Tom Wambsgans. Also he gives Minnesota.

Batfamily Introduction- Matt Reeves universe
So...this is how I'd go about assembling the Batfamily in Reeves verse. I have (at least the movies about Jason) completely developed in my brain, but well, writing the scripts is a whole other issue. I could, but 2k fics are too much for me at the moment, so I thought I'd share this with the world, free some space in my brain, so to speak. Praying that someone out there, that has the actual pull to make this happen, reads this and maybe uses it a little. Mainly about Jason, because my poor boy deserves better, and an live action portrayal that is accurate and true to character, instead of the constant angst trainreck that is his life in the comics, for some reason.
The more detailed an idea is, the more doubts I have about it, idk. Dick's is less developed since pretty much everyone is familiar with him, so I kinda skipped him, sorry. And Damian...well, I don't know enough about him to write him much more than he is, and tbh, I'd like to do something with him and Jon more than anything else.
Here it goes!!! (Also, I'm just a fan, so please don't hate on this, yeah? If you don't like it, move on.)
Batman: Gravity / Gravitas/ Gravitational Pull
(Dick's origin story as Robin movie, Zucco, Selina helps, Ace shows up, Zucco almost dies but D!R decides not to, little scenes with Batgirl (?),etc)
•Robin the first*: Dick's solo movie when he's older, establishing the Titans (Babs, Roy, Donna, Joey(?)), Deathstroke as antagonist(?). He ends the movie as Nightwing (?).
Batman: Mind Games
(Jason as Robin origin story, Jason steals the Batmobile tires, B sends him to a home. Mad Hatter/ Dollmaker is buying kids from Ma Gunn's and Jay helps B & Gordon realize this and to put a stop to it, B ends up kidnapped and Nightwing isn't answering Agent A and Batgirl is holed up in the precinct with Gordon; so Jay dresses up as Robin and goes to try and stop the freak. He trips the rogue with his marbles and knocks him out, waiting until Batgirl/Nightwing come to free the hostages from the tech, keeping the conscious kids calm. Dick is surprised about Jay but not a dick about it. Bruce offers to adopt Jay, and says it's not necessary to be Robin too, but Dick Is all "unless you want to, little wing! I'm gonna teach you all the *best* moves B is too old to do!" Sue me, I want one happy Batfamily, ok? Ok).
•Robin the second*: Jason's solo movie, Kid Devil Pen pal, Kyle(?), Rose(?), Gar(?) or the Titans say he's too little?; Catwoman/Ivy/Nocturna as mentors/aunts? Heist movie. Professor Pig/Toymaker as antagonist? He ends up saving the Titans/Batman despite the doubts about him.
Batman: "A death in the family"/[?]
(Garzonas/child trafficking ring; they butt heads about 'procedure' and 'too much violence'; Barbara is paralyzed; Jay looks for Haywood, she sells him out to Joker, Jason dies. A few months later, B gets called to deal with Flashpoint and finds out Flash is the reason Jay died ("Allen, you killed my son? You killed my SON!" "I'm sorry- Bruce, I'm-" "Effective immediately, Allen's tenure in the Justice League is terminated. Central City will be relegated to Wallace, if he's ready to take on the name." "Bruce!" "If he can not use his powers responsibly, he can not be trusted with them. Unless you want me to give you an antidote." "...you don't have one." "Are you willing to try me?" post-credit scene. Jay's hand breaking the ground of his grave post-post credit scene)
Batman: [?]/Bane of the City
(Tim as Robin Origin story. Broken back, Dick as Batman for a little while, they defeat Bane, Bruce heals a little bit, Barbara remakes herself as Oracle and saves their asses at a crucial moment, etc. Jason is alive and with the LoA, baby!Damián? post-credit scene.)
•Robin the third*: Tim's solo movie, he finds Connor and goes against Lex? + Cassie and Bart, of course. Steph is introduced at the end (iconic brick-in-the-face moment).
Batman: Under the Red Hood/[?]
(RH takes over the Alley in a couple of weeks; steals the kryptonite and ruins deals for Black Mask; kills the leutenants of the mobs and gains control over them, etc. ("B, this guys is not out of control." "Bruce, we have bigger problems than a man that keeps the civilians out of things, the children protected and only takes his rage on the worst of humanity.") Jason still attacks Tim at TT, but only to keep him out of the final confrontation -broken wrist, ankle and bruised ribs- ("No more dead Robins" is written in Jason's blood on the wall). Jason as RH reveal; B accepts Jay killing Joker -he turns around and gives him permission- but the damn clown blows up the building before he can and scapes even after RH shoots him a few times. Jason collapses in Bruce's arms, sobbing, terrified. B asks Jay to comes home and he does, to a heartfelt reunion. Jason apologizes to Tim, giving him the R he cut off the Robin suit in the case instead of the one he took in the Tower. Damian's existence bomb drop post-credit scene. One big happy Batfamily, see?).
•Robin the fourth*: Steph's solo movie. She starts the movie as Spoiler, ends the movie as Robin but dead. Steph tries to stop her dad, meets R!Tim, they fall in love somewhere in the middle. R!Tim wants her as part of the Titans, she refuses cuz her mom doesn't know about Spoiler and she wants to stay in Gotham due to Cluemaster. Jack Drake forces Tim to give up Robin (Steph finds out his identity due to him screaming threats to Bruce) and Bruce offers R to her a few days later, she agrees. Tim doesn't like ir, but Steph is Tim's only contact with the Batfam, so he's ok-ish with it. Cluemaster realizes his daughter is Spoiler/the new Robin and sells the info to Sionis, hoping he'll get him out of prison (he thinks Black Mask will use it to find out who Batman is, not torture her to death, but still). B&Steph butt heads, some "you're too much like Jason" comments/classism thrown her way (Jason is in the LoA trying to convince Talia to give up Damian to B, btw) She starts a war between two gangs to stop them destroying her block/neighborhood's business and homes. BM kidnaps her then, and tries to torture the info of Batman and Red Hood (his bitter enemy) out of her. She holds out until N&B&RH rescue her, but too late. She "dies" then ("was I a good Robin?" "you were a great Robin"). (Post-credit scene is her waking up gasping in a hospital bed, her window shows a Savanna.)
Batman: Blood Son/ Blood Feud
(Damian gets to Gotham to witness the end tail of the gang war after Steph's death. Tim is back in the Manor, back as Robin (he put on the suit to stop the war and BM; since Jack is in a coma he doesn't care anymore), working with B & N & RH to clean things up. R almost kills BM by beating him, so RH puts a blade to the guy's throat and says he will kill him if Tim says the word. Tim, in the end, says no. RH then cuts through BM's spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed. ("As a compromise" he grins savagely at Batman, winking.) Damian tries to off Tim the moment they meet, but Tim is very on edge and puts him down quickly and brutally ("You want to be Robin, remplace Steph, with *those* skills? Ha! Give me a break/Pathetic.") Dick tries to explain how fragile Tim is at the moment, while Jason & Alfred try to make them bond by cooking together, and B makes them solve cold cases together (it turns into a competition, of course, but since it ends with Tim spending less Time on the field, B doesn't stop it). Jack dies after an attack at the hospital by Cap Boomerang; after the funeral he goes out as RR, to get revenge. Zsasz gets him first, since RR is out of it. Damian -who was following him, not worried- ends up saving Tim after Zsasz kidnaps him on BM's orders, as payback. He stalls Zsasz until the others get there and cuts off one of his arms while trying not to kill him. (I wanna add Killer Croc here somehow, he's hired but Damián either convinces him to leave or beats him by drugging him or something). While Tim is recovering in the hospital/cave he passes the R to him. (''You'll do a good job." "Tt, of course I will." "Just...maybe get a less sharp weapon?" "Because blunt force trauma is more elegant?" "Nop. It's usually less deadly, tho."))
The (*) means I have no idea for a tittle. I know I want it to be secuencial, like a series, because that's what they are lol.

i need jacky jacquard from au service de la france and roman roy succession to meet so badly.
i was just a few hours ago looking at a video of jacquard and thinking : "wait who does he remind me of, in a very uncanny way ? oh, roman roy !!". which is funny since i watched au service de la france way before i first heard of succession.
they are both :
small little dogs (affectionate but also derogatory).
part of an iconic trio that sometimes become a quatuor (in this scenario merlaux has the role of connor).
when i looked up the fandom, apparently everyone called him gay despite the fact that i hadn't noticed (but i've been thinking a lot of times about the scene in prison with moulinier and yeah you all were right).

You're so iconic for starting the Professor!Kendall thing. Dr Roy is a permanent part of my brain now. Every other thought that I have is about him, wondering what his life is like away from hsi family. Did he sell his share? Is he like Connor? Is he still part of the board and still shows up to vote sometimes??
I wonder if his father ever made stories about him while he was working at the university? is it NYU? Every time something Royco related breaksdown publicly every student just spends the entire class micro analysing his movements? Does he make snarky remarks about the company? Are there any students ballsy enough to straight up ask him about it in class???
Imagine the cruise thing is breaking news, it's all everyone is talking about and you have a class with Kendall Roy 💀. I know the entire university has to be waiting to find out something, people reaching out to staff and students trying to get anything.
So MANY thoughts.
Okay, okay, so many good questions here.
This got long so my thoughts are under the cut.
I think as far as his involvement would be -- the MOST he would be involved in the business is having shares and being on the board and occasionally showing up to meetings. However, because I'm delulu, I selfishly want an alternate universe where Kendall doesn't continuously get roped back in the Waystar drama, so I feel he has probably cashed out completely, and is just sitting on a fat pile of $$$. I also like the idea that he left in a sort of dramatic fashion after he was promised the top position but realized quickly his dad was never going to give it to him. So there's probably some tension between him and his family and he doesn't think too highly of the company.
And yes, I think immediately after he left, his dad probably made up all kind of ridiculous stories about him -- especially since Waystar's media brands usually have a conservative voice, there would definitely be a sort of messaging like "He couldn't handle the real world so he went to back to school" or like that gross saying "Those who can't do, teach". I feel like conservative media outlets love to demonize academia any chance they get, so there would definitely be those sort of shady sentiments. But I think once Kendall like, did it for long enough and stuck it out, Logan would probably eventually lose interest. The bad press might've made it hard for him to get a job as a prof at first, but the only the only real thing it would've done is driven a bigger wedge between Kendall and the rest of the family. I do like to think he still speaks to his siblings, but sort of holds them at arms length.
As for the college, I'm not really sure. It could definitely be NYU, or even Colombia, but I do like the idea of him being in more of an old school 'college town' vibe, not necessarily a school in a big city. I could see him wanting to put some distance between himself and his family, but I think he'd still stay on the East Coast. So maybe Harvard? Cambridge definitely has the right vibe. And he could be a professor who was also an alum. But I haven't really decided what the school is.
My main headcanon about him though is that he REFUSES to talk about his family, Waystar, any of the his previous involvement in the company. Not only is it a sore spot for him, so it'd be difficult to talk about, but he also wants to put as much distance between himself and the rest of the Roy family as possible. And nobody really knows the real story of what happened, and he never tells anyone, not even his most trusted colleagues.
However, that would not stop his students from constantly speculating about what happened, listening for context clues in his lectures, watching his every move when something big is happening at Waystar or with one of his siblings. It's like a known thing amongst his students to NEVER bring it up. Every now and then at the beginning of a semester, there's always one student who thinks they're above this unspoken rule, so they try to crack a joke, like "what's the worst that can happen" and he'll berate them in front of the whole class and kick them out just to send a message that it won't be tolerated. Maybe even you ask him during office hours if he got to see his family over the holiday, forgetting for a moment who he is and who his family is, and he gets really tense and awkward -- but he has a soft spot for you and knows you didn't mean to offend him.
And yeah, when the cruises scandal breaks, I bet journalists are reaching out to everyone around him, and he might make a remark in class like "Remember, everything said in my lectures are confidential under university policy" but that's the extent to which he'll acknowledge it. I could even see one day maybe a camera crew bombards him after class, and he remains calm and stoic as he walks to his car and drives off, meanwhile all his students are watching like 😳😳😳
In general, I think, similar to how he is on the show, he would really throw himself into his work and be super vigilant and serious about what he does, just to fill up how lonely he is and how hurt he was by his family. He doesn't show this part of himself to his students though, they just think he's really strict and uptight. But people definitely whisper all the time rumors about what they think happened, why he left, what his life is like now, how much contact he has with his family, but he remains frustratingly tight lipped and reveals very little about his personal life.
That is, of course....until you become his student and get to know him better. 😏
