On the 14th of April 1984, a tragic discovery shook the shores of White Strand Beach in Cahirsiveen, County Kerry, Ireland—a newborn baby boy, discarded and brutally stabbed to death. The investigation that followed cast a spotlight on Joanne Hayes, a local woman who had recently been pregnant. Taken into police custody for questioning, Hayes reportedly confessed to the crime. However, she later recanted, asserting that her confession had been coerced.
Hayes admitted to giving birth to a baby son at the family farm, who tragically died shortly after birth. She confessed to burying him on the premises. Subsequent DNA testing on the buried infant corroborated Hayes' account—the DNA matched her story. The clandestine nature of the birth and death of her son stemmed from the fact that the father was a married man.
Despite the lack of a genetic match between the baby found on the beach and the one buried on the farm, indicating they did not share the same parents, police asserted that Hayes had conceived simultaneously by two different men—a phenomenon known as heteropaternal superfecundation, exceedingly rare but theoretically possible.
Hayes faced a murder charge, yet this accusation was ultimately dismissed by a judge. The infant found on the beach was christened "Baby John," yet his identity and the identity of his killer remain a mystery.

being in a small fandom is like being given a bone, chewing on it until you're done with it, burying it in your backyard, and then digging that same chewed up bone months later to continue chewing on it, and then the cycle just repeats.this is especially true for small fandoms that you know won't be getting any new content, so you just have to consume the content you've already consumed thousands of times before.

Cold Case
When Berdly’s body is discovered, stuffed into the library’s closet, it instigates a police investigation into the most brutal crime Hometown has ever seen. Noelle, as a prime suspect, is caught up in the middle of it; and even worse, she’s definitely guilty.
Trapped between Kris, who seems to be acting even stranger than before, and a big-city homicide detective, who’s willing to go to any length to solve the case, Noelle needs to figure out who to trust and fast if she wants to save her friends — and avoid getting thrown behind bars herself.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who used to be obsessed with Cold Case back in the day? It was impossible to find for the longest time, but they’ve got the whole series on HBO Max now so I’ve been rewatching it from the beginning. Each episode never fails to make me emotional—it’s those damn montages at the end!

the poor but sweet f/o that doesn't have a high vocabulary or can never think of how to vocally express their feelings. it takes them a long time to come up with things to say, to tell you about how much they appreciate and love you, or how you make them feel loved and cared for.
situations where they suddenly go up to you on just a random normal day, put a hand on you and lock eyes with you, and say without warning. "I love you. Thank you for loving me." then they give a small kiss or pat before walking off, probably extremely flustered, leaving you standing there just kinda confused.
where you're about to leave them for a small while for whatever reason, and they stutter a bit before saying "Be safe, please. I love you. Have fun." they close the door for you and when they're sure you're gone they let out a big sigh and try to shake off their feeling of worry
after a date when you've been brought home to be dropped off or you both come home together, they're silent until you're at the door, gently taking your hands and squeezing them. feeling a hard pulse through their palms before they take a deep breath. "I really liked tonight. I loved it. I love being with you, talking to you, having you with me. Thank you for tonight, really. You mean a lot to me." they lean in and give a soft kiss to your cheek and lips before you both either go opposite ways or go back to your room to sleep, either way they feel all nervous and giddy when they get in bed and think about you
they do their best to make up for their silence, and even though they don't need to, and they've apologized for it and you've told them it's fine because you know they love you even when they don't say it often, you appreciate their effort nonetheless

Mekayla Bali's disappearance on April 12, 2016, from her hometown of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, has remained a haunting mystery, capturing the attention of both law enforcement and the public. The 16-year-old Canadian was last seen at a local bus stop between 1:00 and 1:45 p.m., sparking a frantic search effort that has yet to yield any definitive leads. The day before her diappearance, she visited the bank to have $25 wired to her account. Later, she texted several friends that she was upset and needed help with something, but no further explanation was provided. The day she went missing was marked by a series of perplexing events, adding layers to the enigma surrounding her case. She texted a friend at around 6:41am asking for a ride to the bank again, but the friend declined since the bank was closed. Her grandmother then drove her to school at around 8:10am. Surveillance cameras showed her putting her binder in her locker and then slipping out the back entrance. She hiked all the way to the bank, where she withdrew $55. She then went to a Wendy's/Tim Horton's restaurant, where, for the next hour or so, she exhibited strange behaviour. Footage shows her disassembling her phone and then reassembling it. Multiple times she left the restaurant, wandered around, and then re-entered. She spent much of her time talking on the phone and texting, including a friend whom she asked for help with something, only to follow it up with ''Nevermind I figured it out''. She also asked a random customer for help with renting a hotel room, but was turned down. At around 11am, she went to the bus stop and asked a stranger when the next stop to Regina would be. Since the bus wasn't going to arrive until 5pm, she left without purchasing a ticket and went back to school for the lunch period, where she met with friends and told them she was planning a trip to Regina. At around 12:03pm, she departed from school and went to a Trail Stop Restaurant, which was attached to a bus stop. She ordered food and left about an hour later. She was never seen by eyewitnesses again, nor was she captured on surveillance footage anywhere. Police were able to confirm she did not get on any bus that day, either. Over the years, various theories have emerged regarding Bali's disappearance, ranging from the possibility of her running away to concerns about human trafficking or falling victim to an online predator. Despite reported sightings and extensive police investigations, including the review of hundreds of hours of surveillance footage and interviews with potential witnesses, Bali's whereabouts remain unknown, leaving her family in agonizing uncertainty.

Lori Zimmerman from Hagerstown, Maryland, was just 15-years-old when she disappeared on the 6th of April, 1984. Since her parents divorce, Lori spent most of her time with her mother. They had just moved to their new home. In fact, Lori had only slept there one night before vanishing. On that fateful day, Lori got into a taxi to deliver her to Hagerstown High School. When she didn’t return that evening, her concerned mother reported her missing.
An investigation uncovered that Lori had arrived and left school safely that afternoon. She had caught the bus to stop at a nearby friend’s house for 10 minutes. This was the last time she was ever seen alive. The following week, Lori’s family received the grim news that she wouldn’t be coming home.
A couple were walking along Reno Monument Road when they stumbled across a gruesome scene. It was the partially clothed body of Lori. She had been beaten, strangled, and then hidden under cardboard and leaves. A foreign object had been shoved down her throat and all of her jewelry had been smashed. Police revealed that they didn’t believe Lori had been murdered at the location where her body was found.
The case remains unsolved.

The Manitoba Métis Federation has unveiled a billboard seeking information into the case of Marcus McKay, who vanished on a hunting trip near Mallard, Man. 23 years ago. His spirit names are North Wind Man and Two Feathers. He was just eight when he went missing. “Having no answers about what happened to Marcus continues to hurt the family and our community,” said Frances Chartrand, vice-president of the MMF’s Northwest Region. “Communicating this reward and prominently displaying Marcus’ face near the place he was last seen reminds everyone that we have not forgotten him, and we have not forgotten the family’s pain.”
