Fragile masculinity and patriarchal submission.
Texas Republicans got what they legislated. On this Mother's Day weekend, never forget that conservative men despise independent women.
More women will die, and Republicans know it.

i'm v happy to discuss my partial & conditional male privilege as a trans guy. my frustration is that people are never asking this question in good faith.
by good faith i mean genuine curiosity and expansion of our shared understandings as people: these discussions never seem to be about how my experience can help illuminate the oppression of being a woman or what that consists of, where the line is, what our lived experiences are like. i have never seen people ask/assert "trans men have male privilege" in ways that weren't v obviously trying to give people permission to not think about us. trans men have male privilege i'd argue can be partially true, depending on contexts, but it should be pretty blatantly bad-faith that such a complex topic is treated as a settled issue.
we have male privilege, it's settled, that's it, and you never have to think about effeminate trans men, flamboyant gay trans men, the complexities of how we move through the world, what it means (in my case, for example) to be a guy who's generally seen as a guy, but has not had top or bottom surgery, has long hair, & what that means for how i get treated in different contexts.
what are we talking about? the privilege to not be seen/treated as a woman on sight? reproductive freedoms? respect in the workplace? economic security? etc.?- so many trans guys, even guys who have passed for quite some time, never experience so many of these things, and instead of having genuine curiosity about our unique experiences you want to slot us all categorically into the cis-het-white-man box so you don't need to think of us as people who can ever have power leveraged against us
people seem to have two settings, either "trans men are women and don't know what it's like to be a guy" or "trans men are cis men and never experience their own unique challenges," even though i think it's pretty obvious that we have a mixed/complicated gender experience simply by virtue of being trans
and every tguy i've ever seen say "i have male privilege all of the time" never brings up all the things he had to do to get & retain patriarchal power. having- idk, been a guy, it's so fucking disingenous to pretend like being a man doesn't involve a performance of ten thousand different choices & behaviors to make sure other guys continue seeing you as a dude. it's not just "having facial hair" or w/e, and if that's what you think then you are literally by definition a transmisogynist lmao. it's the high-and-tight haircut, the gym shirt, the workouts you did to build those arms, the ways you learned to socialize with straight-acting men so they feel comfortable, the things you don't express & feminine mannerisms you stopped using because it would get you clocked. IMO, participating in sexism is a system men participate in so they don't become targets of it.
like, insisting trans guys universally attain male privilege isn't an innocent statement, it's one that in my experience gives dudes a skewed idea of their own safety. what do you think happens when i have a scruff, deep voice, and people realize my boobs are not cis guy moobs? why do so many people think that i'm seen unilaterally as a cis straight man, rather than a mostly-man sort-of-woman you're allowed to condescend to & also physically fight?

imagine thinking that trans men are inherently bad or evil or predatory on the basis of gendered privilege and societal power structures. cringe
#transmasc discourse#like the idea that trans men gain male privilege and kick down the ladder to beat on the queer community is astonishingly stupid at best#the idea that transphobia or queerphobia as a whole doesn't affect them because they're Assimilating With The Oppressors is like#man fucking what is up with people yknow#gender essentialism is fucked up and it's the same force that's beaten down on bi ace and transfem people#the fact that this has turned into 'trans rights but only for the women' by some dumb-fuck shitstains is awful#no. trans rights for all.#like let me explain what I mean here: trans men aren't seen as men by transphobes#it's not 'oh you're a fella? crack a cold beer and let's bash some gays'. passing as a man has just as much risk to it as passing as a woman#because a man who will attack a trans woman as someone who is not a woman will most likely attack a trans man he does not see as a man#with the same violence he might level against a cis woman#that's just on the masc side. i can't speak for any violence against trans men by cis women but I can see how cis women discredit trans men#by claiming them as Lost Lesbians and Sisters In Arms who've been lost due to the Trans Agenda#like people shit on bi people because they have 'passing privilege'. but we know that bi people face homophobia#and other issues about their orientation. the idea that trans men get their Boys Will Be Boys card is to focus on a tiny selection#that *potentially* has the power to he a shithead - like a queerphobic asexual person or a malicious bi person#and paint an entire group of diverse people as literally the worst interpretation you can imagine about them#like consider that you have your own issues and/or biases in regards to people you like and want to hang out with#and stop calling entire groups of people invaders and oppressors whose entire goal is to upend the community#and turn the power of queer people against them#i understand how it feels to feel powerless and to have somewhere where you feel supported and safe#but if you're going to see pain and hate in every group who shares your experience but gives you an ick for whatever reason#there's a solid chance that the Righteous Crusade against them is - in fact - your own personal dislike wielding a modicum of power#that essentially functions the same way that hetero- and cis-normative standards and people have rejected you.#it is essentially you becoming the bully. and just like bi and ace and transfem people before I won't stand for it#trans men are my people.

I don't do discourse here anymore I SWEAR but the thing that will always drive me crazy is people insisting that trans men do not face a specific intersection of oppression like trans women do. There are issues specific to trans men whether you like to admit it or not lol

Without the cover & protection of male privilege, the most severe and harmful societal attitudes about men & masc people are an easy weapon against marginalized people. internalizing bioessentialism creates the conditions for bigotry towards trans, nonbinary, and genderqueer individuals. It's important to reexamine our own biases towards others

I think the reason there's a growing anti trans movement among scrotes obsessing about the "grooming tranny menace" is because shifting all the blame on trans predatory behavior removes the attention off cis male offenses
remember when (pro gun) Conservatives started fearmongering about trans terrorism after that transman made that shooting in a Christian school, when in reality the vast majority of mass shooters are cis male?
oh and let's not even forget how they suddenly grasped that easy access to gun was actually dangerous..... because *gasp* they were available to mentally deranged trans people TOO 💀
So you agree? Gun access to anyone is the problem?
Interesting.

I saw someone on the internet just use "masc violence" instead of "male violence", like very obviously as a direct replacement, and honestly I'm still feeling the psychic damage. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works

TW: abuse mention
If you’re actually so delusional that you think cis women can’t possibly be abusers, go fuck yourself and don’t even speak to me.
My mother abused me and my dad physically and psychologically, and he and I are still dealing with the mental trauma almost 20 years later. He took care of me when my mother just couldn’t be bothered, or when she had a manic episode, or when she was coming down from a drug binge. She was mentally incapable of holding a job so she took advantage of him, threatening and beating him into staying so she didn’t lose her source of income after she blew through her inheritance. He never once laid a finger on her or me, and just walked out with me in tow (which was the best thing he could’ve done and he absolutely had the right to do) when enough was enough.
tl;dr if you SERIOUSLY think cis women are incapable of being abusers, that only misogynistic cis men are capable of being abusers, you’re a dumbass. Come and tell me that to my face. I fucking dare you.

I’m moving out in five weeks and last night I snapped at my roommate who had been a dick to me all year (for something reasonable and justifiable) and ik I shouldn’t feel bad but I totally do lol
All year has been the oppression Olympics any time any of us is upset about anything and like.. I reminded him last night that he isn’t the only minority in the apartment and he was pissed
#for context he is a white gay trans man#so I’m not in any way denying that his life is objectively difficult and that there are obstacles that none of us can relate to#but oh my GOD it’s frustrating when any of us are upset about something and he brings up transphobia#like actually- no- you don’t understand what it’s like to be yelled at on the bus by a racist and then feel fear when he follows you off#when the school shooting happened this year I was crying (BECAUSE IM A PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATOR) and he started telling me how I was playing#the victim when the real victim was trans people and how I don’t have anything to be afraid of unlike the trans people who are going#to have this spun as a story about how they are all violent bc of T#like.. my brother… kids in my district have died to gun violence THIS YEAR#I had a kid go missing for a week due to gang violence and cried about it#yeah teachers are allowed to be scared and cry over a school shooting even if it was a trans guy who did it#every time I talk about Taylor swift he tells me to shut the fuck up because I’m annoying but he will talk about punk music for literal hour#he makes fun of anything traditionally feminine and I understand a lot of that is his own struggle with gender dysphoria but… c’mon man#anyway last night we were joking about all moving to Idaho bc we were looking at Idaho rent and it’s like $3.50 for a five bedroom house lol#and he butts in- unprompted- that he couldn’t move there because he would have no rights…#like .. ok?? we were joking obviously#but I was being a bitch and said “yeah none of us would except for (cis white male roomate who thought it was funny)#in reference to roe v wade getting overturned#he gets so many any time anyone brings up roe v wade as an example of rights and bodily autonomy being stripped away#and gets mad when any of the cis female roomates talk about it as if it’s not a legitimate concern#oh he’s fine talking all the time about all the states he can’t live in because he’s trans but the second a cis girl reminds him that#we are also losing bodily autonomy he gets angry and insists it’s not the same#you’re right - it’s not the same- but dude you aren’t the only one who has to fear for your rights being removed!!!#like bruh how are you going to look at a mixed race lesbian woman and say I don’t understand oppression#he also gets really pissy when we talk about alcoholism because his father was an alcoholic…. THREE of us had alcoholic fathers who either#died or left or became so physically inept due to alcoholism that they can’t form a complete sentence or thought#but HE gets to be the arbitrator on dad trauma for reasons I guess???#ugh idk it’s just so frustrating#idk idk I’m just frustrated

"no children are being forced to take hrt or have surgeries that change the appearance of their genitals" intersex children are, actually
"everyone was assigned a gender at birth" there are intersex people who were not assigned a gender at birth
"trans women are amab trans people and trans men are afab trans people" there are intersex people who were assigned male at birth and later transitioned medically and socially to male, and intersex people who were assigned female at birth and later transitioned medically and socially to female
"assigned gender at birth is a 1:1 predictor of tma vs tme experience" there are intersex people who were assigned female at birth and experienced violence for being a woman with a penis + testes + secondary sex characteristics like facial hair + having a testosterone-dominant hormone profile, and had to transition medically and socially to be socially and medically recognized as women as adults
"bodies born with sex variations are medically nonbinary" no, they are intersex, and intersex people can be a binary gender if they want to be
"nonbinary people who want non-cisnormative sex variations are mentally ill/diseased for wanting a disordered body" no, bodies with sex variations are not disordered, and it harms intersex people for them to be seen as disordered regardless of if the body in question was born that way or created through surgery
"cis women don't experience transphobic body policing/will never understand how it feels to have your womanhood constantly in question and subject to violence over things you can't change" intersexism overlaps heavily with transphobia and an intersex woman can both identify as cis and have a penis, testes, be testosterone-dominant, etc, and have visible signs of those traits. an intersex woman can also have been amab or be currently legally designated as male by the government and still identify as cis.
stop saying intersexist shit in your trans discourse thanks

I might not know how trans biology works so bare with me
When you get hit in the "Nuts", do you have to over sell the "Pain" that you are in to pass or does it actually just hurt as much as a cis male/trans woman getting hit down there?
People usually don't inflict violence upon me so give me a second

now more than ever it's blatantly obvious that people go out of their way to erase trans men from communities and queer history. it's always been happening, but it's way easier to watch it in real time now thanks to the internet and social media. we are watching people basically gloating that they misgender trans men and don't see them as men. we are now watching people kick trans men out of queer spaces because they are often "femme and them" or "nonbinary and woman" support groups, conflating nonbinary identities with womanhood, and denying trans men or transmasc nonbinary people places to go. many of them get told that their presence would "scare" the lesbians, women and enbies because they have trauma.
where do the trans men with trauma go, though? we can't go anywhere. when i was struggling with domestic violence that ended up destroying my right leg, i was denied shelter in queer spaces and even women's spaces even though i have F on license. domestic violence shelters especially will turn trans men away if we pass. even if we partially identify as women, we can't go in because 'our voices are deep and scary and we're loud and aggressive and threatening and might prey on the defenseless scared women'
finding transmasc support groups is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. i've seen numerous organizations across the US have transfemme support groups, nonbinary/genderqueer support groups, and then nothing for transmascs. where the hell do we go when they won't let us go anywhere?
we try to exist online and they try to erase us from here, too. bickering and arguing about how we're not real men, sending trans men death and sexual assault threats, acting like they're saviors for kicking out the "dangerous ugly men" from the queer community, as if we don't belong to it at all.
i refuse to be erased. i refuse to sit in silence while people tell me my problems don't matter because now i "have male privilege". I don't. once people find out what my legal name is they view me as a woman. strangers however view me as a cis man and will deny me help, either through programs, or because i'm a "strong young man, i should be able to pick myself up by my boot straps." i'm not white. i'm not abled.
i'm proud to be a trans man and i will be here to fight for other trans men's rights to have a platform to speak, and spaces to occupy. i will not rest until trans men & mascs have safe places to be and meet other trans men.
trans men are queer. we belong here. we are taking up the space we rightfully deserve and we are not leaving.
