Lying awake beside you, Chishiya is listening to you breathe, analyzing your heart rate. In, out... steady and calm. He could almost count the exact number of beats per minute, but he’s too busy thinking about how lucky he is to have you beside him to care about precision. He finds infinite comfort in the repeated rise and fall of your chest. It proves to him that you are alive, safe and here, right next to him.
You are indeed. And you feel utterly and completely content, in bed, curled up against him. There’s nowhere else in the world you’d rather be.
You lift one hand from where it has been resting on his shoulder and run it through his messy blond hair, sending a shiver of pleasure down his spine. He looks tousled and sleepy and soft, eyes bright and hair wild, and all around adorable in the faint light that’s falling through the curtains of your bedroom. You continue running your fingers through his hair and down his neck as he lets out a long sigh of joy and relief, like all the tensions in his body were released, all at once.
“You’re secretly a cat, aren’t you?” You chuckle softly next to his ear. “I’m just waiting for you to start purring!”
Chishiya grins and makes a noise that he wanted disdainful, but comes out as a low rumble, not that far from a purr actually. You laugh. Not because you’re mocking him but because you’re happy. You both had been through so much. The meteorite took pieces from the both of you. Borderland did too, and you thought you’d never be whole. But you made it through. In each other’s arms, you found those pieces again. Now you’ve got him, and he’s got you. The past does not matter.
Chishiya’s arms tighten around you and he shifts slightly to kiss the top of your head, then your forehead, then your top lip, your bottom lip and both at once. His kisses are sometimes somber and serious, but mostly they’re playful, and delighted - and they’re all the time peaceful, uncomplicated, and calm. His kisses are all you need. He had kissed you before, innumerable times and in innumerable ways, but still, you’ll never get enough of him. He breaks off and looks at you with with unhurried, adoring black eyes and a sleepy smile. You smile back and you both relish in this quiet moment together. You love him so much it’s almost pathetic. You yearn for him constantly. All of him. His smug smile, his soft laugh, the sharpness of his mind, his bewitching dark eyes, his messy hair in the morning, his comforting warmth at night. Pathetic. You’ll never tell him that.
(he already knows)
It’s strangely easy for you to be tired in his arms. Maybe because he makes you feel so safe. You close your eyes and roll onto your side to face away from him while you slowly drift into sleep. Chishiya keeps his arms around you and presses his body against your back, tangling your legs together and pulling you tighter against him. As he presses one last sleepy kiss on the top of your head, you wonder if this really is true happiness. You decide that if it’s not, it must be the closest you’ve ever been to it.

Note
I come to your aid, my dear writer!
an idea would be an adhd!gn!reader that always manages to survive, but no one understands how.
they get distracted easily, can't concentrate for too long when someone is explaining the plan, and start wandering off to explore, etc.
everyone think they survive only thanks to the rest of the group
but chishiya is the only one who sees the truth (reader finds important clues at early stages of the game while wandering off, they try to explain what they believe is the right answer (normally being the right answer) but no one manages to understand what they mean because reader doesn't explain their full thought process or forgets to add context, asking simple questions out of curiosity and sometimes helping the group realise stuff, their previous fixations on random hobbies being useful, etc)
also, the reader is usually calm and unbothered about the situation, always in a good mood
people underestimate them a lot

It was time to play another game, you had only two days left on your visa which left you with no other choice. Hatter teamed you up with Kuina and Chishiya, something that made you feel safer. You drove to the location of your assigned game, a mansion in the Aoyama area, one of the wealthiest in Tokyo. You enter the entrance hall and each grab a phone off the table. In the room are two other players waiting for the game to start. A man fitting the aesthetic of the area, wearing an expensive watch and an even more expensive-looking suit is tapping his foot impatiently on the marble floor. And a posh older woman who could easily be your grandmother, fidgeting with her pearl necklace.
Chishiya immediately starts analyzing the people and the room while Kuina greets the other players. The registration closes and an arrow appears pointing to an opening door, everyone hurries inside and the door closes behind you. On your phones appear the ace of clubs and a voice starts explaining the rules. “Game: escape room. Find clues and get out of the room in time.” You laugh “An ace? We’re definitely gonna ace this” you look at your friends to see if they got your joke, Chishiya rolls his eyes while Kuina snorts. They got used to your humor by now but you never skip the opportunity to make a cheesy joke to lighten the mood.
“Thirty minutes left.” You look up at Chishiya as he begins speaking: “Okay, the room is big so let’s split up to cover the ground faster. Share everything…” You look around the room as your attention is pulled to a big bookcase. You tilt your head to read the titles. “I loved this book, ooh, Kuina you will really like this one!” “... and lastly we need a code to open that door.” Chishiya ends his little instruction talk. Everyone splits up to look for clues, the room is basically a large living room. Decorated with lavish couches and baroque art. After scanning the shelf with books you notice an aquarium with a small turtle. You smile as you watch it move, becoming hypnotized by the cute animal.
Meanwhile, the others were searching frantically for the key that would open a box. You got taken out of your trance when someone yanked you backward. “Search the fucking key you idiot” the posh asshole swears as he grips the front of your shirt. Immediately Chishiya and Kuina come to your aid. “Look violence isn’t gonna solve this game, so leave him alone” Kuina speaks. The guy lets go of you and points at the box, “We need a key to open it, search for it.“ You take it from Chishiya’s hands and examine it. It’s a wooden box, decorated with flowers, one flower stands out, a carnation. “Hey, Kuina did you know that a green carnation used to be a symbol to show that you were queer. It was popularized by…” You rush to the bookshelf as the others stand in confusion, your fingers trace the names of authors until you find the one you’re looking for: Oscar Wilde. You take it off the shelf and read the title. “The Picture Of Dorian Gray” you exclaim “I loved this book! The way Wilde portrays the dark side of humanity…” “Y/N!” Kuina signals. “Oops sorry. Does anyone have a knife?” “I do” the old woman proclaims while waving her purse in the air. She pulls the knife out of it but hesitates to hand it over. “What are you going to…” Chishiya snatches it from her before she’s able to finish her sentence. “Just trust them.”
He gives you the knife and you walk determined towards the portrait hanging above the fireplace and slash it. Behind the canvas a key appears, you grab it and toss it at Kuina who opens the box. “Ten minutes left.” The box contains a riddle that gets rapidly solved by Chishiya, the riddle leads to another clue. It keeps on going like this and it looks like you were almost there. You slowly gravitate back to the turtle.
“Five minutes left” the voice chimes. Behind you, the others cheer because they found the final code. You join them as Chishiya types it in. The door opens but you were met with another one. A sorrowful sigh left the older lady and the man punches the wall. The door was beautiful, so would have been escaping but you could just as well admire the craftwork that went into making the door. Beautiful curves, leaves, a turtle. A turtle. “One minute left.” You reach for the wooden turtle and start pushing it. It moved. You copy the unusual trail of the actual turtle, which had made you so interested in it in the first place: a triangle.
The door opens and everyone leaps through just in time before the floor collapses. You look at your friends in shock before grinning widely. “I fucking love you y/n” Kuina sighs as she pulls you into a hug, Chishiya pats your back “Well done.”
notes: I hope you enjoyed it! it was fun writing a reader with adhd and putting some of my own special interests in it ;) (queer history)

most of the world was asleep. the only light shining outside was from the moon, the stars, and some streets. slight, but there nevertheless.
in your case however, your desk and laptop screen also shining light. an unnatural and annoying light that was beginning to give you a headache.
it was about two-fifty in the morning — close to three. you and chishiya, who you’d consider a good friend in uni, were studying for your upcoming mid-term since the both of you were pre-med students.
it’s safe to say, you were stressed out. the topic you’d been learning looking like a completely different language the more you looked and attempted to learn it.
you huffed frustratingly, beginning to write in your notebook harshly and quickly. chishiya turned his attention from the textbook in front of him to you as you were making a lot of noises suggesting your stress.
“everything alright?”
at this point, chishiya was already prepared and confident for the exam. he stood by you however, because it seemed like you needed the company.
and the help.
you continued your harsh writing. “yeah, I’m fine.”
he shrugged, continuing back to his book and left you to your studying. or stabbing of your poor notebook.
your thoughts were everywhere else except where they really needed to be, going a million hours at once. the stress of this exam, intrusive thoughts of just quitting starting to enter your brain, and a random song in the background, banging in your head at once. you were tired.
maybe this is why i’m not processing all this information, you thought.
at that point, you about had it.
you turned off your desk light while standing up from your chair suddenly and made your way out of your room, chishiya’s eyebrows raising at your actions. he sighed, then followed you out.
when he made it to where you were, he saw you leaning against your kitchen counter with your head down in front of your coffee machine. the sound of it in the midst of pouring your third cup for the night, echoing throughout the silent apartment walls.
he stood there for a moment, not knowing what to do. hell, he didn’t know how to comfort anyone. weirdly, he wanted to comfort you.
you were always so bubbly — shy and introverted but outgoing when he got to know you. you cared a lot. probably too much for chishiya’s liking. you two were polar opposites but he didn’t mind. maybe, the universe put you two together for this sole reason.
“y/n?”
you picked up your head and stood up regularly, turning your body towards him. you didn’t say anything. you just looked at him blankly.
“too much coffee isn’t good for you.” he crossed his arms, leaning against the wall behind him and continued. “you should know that, you’re a med student.”
it sounded much harsher than what he had originally in his mind. but that was chishiya’s way of showing that he…cared?
you huffed. “god, chishiya. i don’t need your input. i just need to pass this goddamn exam and coffee is going to help. you’re already going to pass so i don’t know why you care.”
he just stared at you as you turned back around and poured your coffee into your hello kitty mug, reminding him of the time you FaceTimed him when you got the mug. you were so excited and happy over something that seemed so silly.
but that’s just how you were. though, he always felt like there was a part of you that he had not seen just yet. he read people scarily well and…he would know.
you breezed passed him and back into your room, cranking your music up. the aroma of your scent lingering until he followed you back in.
you were sitting on your window sill filled with all your plushies and other pillows with your textbook on your lap, flipping through the pages and sipping your coffee.
he sat across from you and looked out the view from your window. you didn’t look up from your book once.
one thing he loved about coming over to yours was the view you had. the beautiful sight of the city that the moonlight was shining upon. your music in the background making the view ethereal. it was peaceful. like a pause from the chaotic world.
his thoughts were interrupted by you flipping the page of your textbook harshly. taking yet another sip of your coffee while your eyes scanned the information.
he turned to you and kept his gaze there. despite the frustration written all over your face, you were shining against the moonlight. your soft features illuminating against it, like the moon was focusing on only you in that moment.
examining your face more, he saw tears starting to pool up in your eyes. the facade you were trying so hard to put up, finally fading away.
he paused. his attempt on comforting you earlier had failed miserably. now you were crying?
he shifted in his seat and looked back out the window, pretending not to notice. he felt uncomfortable. he didn’t know what to do. he was used to keeping his emotions inside at all times. he assumed the same for you. but now, it seems those bottled up emotions were pouring out of you and even though you didn’t want it, you let it.
he heard you sniffle, his eyes returning back to your face. you quickly wiped your tears and closed your textbook, throwing it on the ground next to you whilst placing your coffee gently atop of it.
you pulled your knees to your chest and wrapped your arms around them, looking out the window to the view. tears were still spilling out and now you weren’t wiping them away. you were letting your tears fall into the night. but despite your built up emotions spilling out, your face remained still and blank. your tears just grazing on top of it.
“i have a feeling this is more then the mid-term that’s on your mind,” chishiya said, breaking the silence.
you didn’t say anything for a moment, your eyes still on the view of the quiet night. you let his words sit with you because he was right. and you hated how well he could read people — especially you.
you let out a breath before speaking. “it’s not like you would care.”
you knew chishiya wasn’t the type of person to express his feelings. so why would he listen to you express yours? regardless, he surprised you with his next choice of words. “try me.”
those words had you finally looking away from the view and to him, his gaze looking at you intently. inviting you, daring you to give him a chance.
“it’s a lot,” you started, gaze looking back out the window. you let out a soft chuckle. “i’m a mess.”
you felt him scoot closer to you, his eyes burning through you to get something, anything out of you. you felt that this was his way of letting you know that he was here to listen — something you weren’t used to.
finally, you let the words fall out of your mouth.
“i don’t want to be a fucking doctor.”
the words that were engraved in your brain since the minute you started uni was finally out into the night. for only you and chishiya to hear. and now, you felt somewhat free.
you looked back at him, his eyebrows having a slight furrow to them, expressing to continue your thought. “this is not my dream. to be honest, i’m really doing this for my mother.” you spoke your next sentence quieter, practically whispering. “because she wasn’t able to because of me.”
“what do you mean?”
you bit the inside of your cheek before continuing. “she was my age when she met my dad, so close to getting into her dream university because she took a gap year.”
he scanned your face, tears still spilling but your face still remaining blank.
“she was in love with him. and well, long story short, she got pregnant with me and couldn’t follow her dreams of becoming a doctor. so that’s why i’m doing what i’m doing. but it’s not what i want.”
he pursed his lips. “you shouldn’t let her be the reason to not enjoy your life.”
“but i love her. she’s been through hell for me. and i feel like it’s my fault she never got to follow her dream.”
“it’s not though.”
“but it’s the least i could do.”
he took his eyes off of you, returning his eyes to the window. he remained quiet for a moment which only built your nerves more. maybe, you shouldn’t have said anything? maybe you should of just kept on pretending. interrupting your thoughts, he spoke. “can i tell you something?”
you hummed in response, starting to feel more at ease.
“i don’t want to be a doctor either.”
chishiya didn’t know why he decided to tell you something that was so vulnerable to him. he spent years trying to dig it so deep in his brain that he would eventually forget it. but after admitting those words aloud, he realized he was simply putting up a facade. just like you.
“for similar reasons as you. except, my father never really was there for me nor showed he cared,” he shrugged.
he guessed that telling you this unexpectedly was because he felt you. and weirdly, he felt bad for you. you cared so much that you’re doing something that doesn’t make you happy. you didn’t deserve that.
“wow,” you replied. “i didn’t know that. i’m sorry.”
he looked at you, seeing your blank expression turn into concern. you really did care a lot about others. he was surprisingly glad he was one of them. at the same time however, he didn’t deserve someone like you to care for someone like him. “don’t be. i’m fine.”
his blunt expression grew more concern for you. you weren’t sure how he would respond if you kept prodding. but you did so nevertheless. “are you sure?”
he sighed. he wasn’t sure how to answer this. no one had ever asked. “i’m doing what i can.”
you gave him a slight smile. “i think we all are. sometimes, that’s the best we could do.”
he smirked back, looking at the view once more causing you to do the same. no matter what, you two always returned your eyes to it. you both never seemed to get tired of the sight.
“what is your dream?” he asked.
you smiled, despite all the emotions you were truly feeling. no one had ever asked you that before. no one ever cared to ask. “i want to be a writer.”
“really?”
“yeah. it’s like my escape,” you leaned a bit closer to the window before continuing. “no one has ever really listened to me or know the real me. they never really cared to. but writing — it’s a way i get to express the real me. and the ideas in my head.”
he looked over at you once more. your eyes were glistening with passion. something he never saw from you. it made him smile a bit. he silently hoped that you would be able to follow your dream. it seemed like something you truly adored.
“what about you?” you asked, meeting his gaze.
he snickered. “never really thought about that.”
you simply nodded.
“maybe travel the world. there’s so many places i haven’t seen yet. i would like to see all of them if i could.”
you gasped suddenly, causing chishiya to jump from your abrupt action. “i have an idea!”
he raised his eyebrows.
“when we graduate, we should take a trip! we could go anywhere you’d like.”
“with what money?”
“we’ll save up. if not, we’ll wing it.”
he chuckled at your comment. smirking, he nodded an agreement. “sounds like a plan.”
you smiled back at him. “any particular place you have in mind?”
he thought for a moment before answering. “Switzerland. i don’t know, that place looks unreal from what i’ve seen in photos. it’s definitely on my bucket list.”
“then Switzerland is where we’ll go.”
he smiled at you. a genuine smile. it was small. so small that any other person wouldn’t have realized it. but you — you noticed.
“you know,” you started, turning your attention back to the night. “nighttime has always been my favorite.”
he tilted his head, urging for you to carry on.
“not only is the world quiet from all the chaos, but you see people’s authentic selves. during the day, you put up this mask so people don’t see the real you. cause you’re scared that if they see the real you, they’ll run off. and the world is so loud that sometimes you wish you could just take a pause from all of it. nighttime, is like that pause. with the world quiet and the moonlight shining on the world lightly, its peaceful and inviting. that’s when people take off that mask of theirs and are comfortable with their vulnerable and real selves. and whoever you’re with in that moment to share your vulnerability with, its true and authentic. not something you put up to protect yourself.”
after a moment, you looked over at him, blood rushing to your cheeks. you said a lot and felt embarrassed. but he just looked at you keenly.
“i can see you as a writer.”
you furrowed your brows, confused at his response.
“your words are beautiful.”
your eyes widened, a slight sparkle to them. his words hit you hard. the kind of hit that felt like every negative emotion in you had disappeared. the kind that made your authentic self comfortable with him. the kind that felt like it was only you two in the world.
he simply just looked away. he honestly didn’t know what to say nor do next. but he was content. cause his words were truthful. you were a beautiful person all around. and he wanted to be sure that you knew that. even though the feelings he was feeling were foreign and uncomfortable, your words were right. the nighttime and you were making the chaos in his mind bearable.
you both sat in comfortable silence with the soft music in the background. the moon seemed like it had shined brighter, now illuminating and focusing on the both of you. making you two feel safe with each other.
after the blissful moment, you glanced at the clock on your nightstand. three-thirty.
chishiya followed your eyes and turned to also see the time.
“shit,” he muttered. “i better get going.”
“yeah,” you replied, a little saddened that he was leaving.
he got up from your window sill and began to gather his things. you just watched, bringing your knees closer to you as you rested your head against them.
once he was done, he threw his backpack over his shoulder and walked towards your door. but before he opened it, he paused and looked at you. really looked at you.
“i know i don’t say this enough or show it but, i really do care for you.”
you lifted your head up, mouth slightly agape at his words. he…cared for you? he cared for you.
you smiled at his words while he slightly grinned back.
“see you tomorrow, y/n/n.”
and then, he walked out the door into the peaceful night. leaving you breathless, filled with old and new emotions but most importantly, leaving you free.
he saw the real you. he listened to you. and he cares about you.
and while you don’t know where this is going or where it will go, you do know you care for him too. more than you ever had for anyone.

And also, I still don't know what I'm doing, and english is still not my main language.
Plot: You go to a work event in a familiar place you've never been to.

The sun was still low on the horizon when you arrived at the Foundation’s main door. Grabbing your duffel bag and backpack you exited your car followed by your close friend, roomie and colleague Kaori. There were already a few staff members waiting, on the sidewalk, for the transport to take you all to the event and you both walked to join them.
Kaori hadn’t stopped talking about the conference and the fact that you would get a free vacation out of it. However, your mind kept switching her off from time to time.
“Hey! You sure you’re feeling alright?” They asked you for the tenth time.
“Yeah. It’s just weird…I feel…weird…” You told them honestly.
You met Kaori a long time ago. They had been the ones that had helped you after ‘the incident’. Their bubbly personality, friendly attitude, and especially their caring and patient side had become a safe space for you to turn to. Even if sometimes they were a bit overexcited. After the meteor, their over-the-top personalities were what kept you motivated.
“It’s the first lengthy trip after the…thing…it’s normal. It’ll be alright…” Kaori placed a hand on your shoulders, giving you a reassuring smile and you smiled back, still weary.
It was in fact the first long trip you had taken after the disaster a year ago. In the months after the incident, just walking around Tokyo would make you hyperventilate. Although it had subsided, there was still a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach. You felt like a prey animal, always hypervigilant. All the doctors you knew and all the counselors told you it was normal. You had been through a traumatic event, more than that it had been a sudden traumatic event, your body still in fight or flight mode. Still, the explanation didn’t take away the feeling.
“I promise you, I have googled every single space agency, telescope and conspiracy theory website. None indicated the sky was going to fall down again.”
You rolled your eyes at their joke. Some people might find their humor offensive, but it was something you both had in common. Even though you still felt the scars mentally of your trauma, you found that a helpful workaround was to joke about it.
“Thank you. Deeply appreciated, friend!” You placed a hand on your heart in mock gratitude and they nodded.
"No problem, buddy."
As you approached the small group of people at the door, you both made a beeline for some familiar faces. The taller of the two figures, Ari, waved at you and your friend as they saw you approaching.
“Who’s ready for a free vacation?” Ari asked, clapping her hands together and beaming brightly.
“It’s not free.” Chishiya’s raspy voice argued.
"It's an all-inclusive, four-day trip to one of the finest resorts in Tokyo. It's a bit of a free vacation.” Kaori argued back.
“Did you forget about the two-day conference?” He asked her, pushing his hands into his white jacket.
You stood, quietly grinning, looking between Kaori, Chishiya and Ari as the three of them argued whether the event constituted a paid vacation or just work.
“You know! I liked you better when you were blonde.” Ari concluded by crossing her hands over her chest.
The look Chishiya threw at her was the most offended glare you had ever seen him give. It lasted exactly 5 seconds but it was enough for you to snort as you tried to keep the laughter in.
“Come on Ari, we all know blonde Chishiya was not the superior Chishiya.” You teased, pointing at his now jet black hair. “This! This is our true lord and savior. The evolution of the man, who is now a legend.”
“I don’t know why I hang out with you people.” He retorted, but his face was neutral with a side of good humor.
He had indeed made a radical shift in his looks. His hair was slightly shorter, looked healthier, but his usual white was now jet black. He had changed his locks after the incident, a few weeks after he started working at the Foundation. Obviously, you all teased him.
Truth be told, many survivors had indeed altered their appearances after the trauma. The last time you saw some of them, thanks to the ‘mandatory monthly therapy session ’ , there had been some changes in aesthetics. Some had grown out their locks, others had shaved their heads, and others had changed their style completely. You yourself had changed your appearance as soon as you could move about.
Every time you looked in the mirror, the person looking back didn’t seem like you. It was like staring at a photo of you from years ago. From another life. And technically, that was right.
“Because you need a few people around, to bring you down from that marble pedestal you like to stand on.” Ari said and everyone nodded, including him.
“Kicking and screaming sometimes.” Kaori gave everyone a knowing look.
"Alright children. Enough with the beating of an undead horse.” You looked between your friends as they groaned and moaned at the bad joke.
The bus arrived and the group made their way to it. As you walked down the bus aisle quietly, shuffling behind the rest of the staff, you could hear Kaori and Ari argue about something they had read in a scientific magazine and Chishiya complaining he was not mentally ready to spend an hour hearing Ari go on about this.
“You can sit with me.” You smiled at him, turning to look at him over your shoulder.
“Thank you.” He bowed his head to you.
As the four of you settled into your seats, the excited Ari and Kaori kept chatting on and on about the article while Chishiya just shook his head.
“That article was disproven by several sources months ago.” He declared in a hushed tone as he took out his hoodie and placed it on the overhead shelf.
“You can walk over and tell them that. Good luck!” You teased him and he shook his head, getting comfortable.
"Ari will probably google it in about...five minutes." He grinned at you, raising one eyebrow and you chuckled.
The relationship between you was warm, comfortable and you both seemed to enjoy each other's company. You both shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which bonded you in an unusual way, just like it did with the survivors. There were some who were affected more than others, but being collectively dead for a minute or two had made you all form a strange bond.
With Chishiya it spanned beyond the monthly meetings though. You had started working at the Foundation months before the meteor, and he had joined a few weeks after. The Foundation had made you and him sit through counseling every week, deeming that the monthly therapy group sessions given by the government weren’t enough. You would both sit in the waiting room of the psych wing waiting for your name to be called. That was the perfect opportunity for you to strike a conversation with the handsome and aloof doctor.
It started with small talk, the weather, the shifts at the hospital, what had been on TV. Even though he seemed distant, he was willing to listen to you. He kept the conversation flowing by adding some snarky remarks and trivia about the topic you'd be discussing.
And then you introduced him to your friends and the four of you became a unit. It had taken him a while to get used to the chaos that was the three of you together, but as time passed, you noticed him becoming more relaxed. Although he kept all of the other staff at arms length, barely moving an eyebrow at them, around you three, he seemed to be content. He seemed to be happy, often antagonizing one of you or just letting you all tease him about something.
It became a habit to wait for each other whenever you had counseling sessions. You would grab some cookies from the machine and sit on a bench taking in the last rays of sunshine.
• ··········· • ············ •
“Thank you” He said one day, munching on a biscuit, making you turn your head towards him in surprise.
“For what?”
“I don’t know.” The still white haired doctor shrugged and leaned back into the stone seat. “When I woke up in the hospital, I felt like I needed a change.”
“Dying does that to you.” You smiled at him and he nodded.
“I didn’t enjoy doing anything before. At least that’s what I felt. I was a flat line, just keeping up with the flow. Nothing mattered. Get to work, pretend to care, go home, pretend to have hobbies, pretend to have friends, go to sleep. Repeat. I felt nothing. Whether I was telling a mother that her child was dying or just ordering lunch, it was all the same to me. ”
“And now? Are there any nuances in your...feelings?” You questioned him softly and clearly saw the gears in his head turn.
“Yes.” He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully rationalize what they are, but there are spikes on the line now.”
“I don’t think you have to rationalize emotions, Chishiya. I don’t think anyone does. You just have them.”
“What if I don't have them?”
“Well, you go to counseling." you joked, pointing a cookie at him and then becoming serious. "I’ve seen you with your patients. I’ve seen you around Ari and Kaori. I’m seeing you now. This…” Your hand motioned towards him. “This is feeling an emotion.”

Prompt: Hold Me Tender
In which a sleepy Chishiya somehow finds his way to your room at the Beach after a particularly rough game…
It was unusual to find any quiet at the Beach. To do so, one must sacrifice something very important…sleep. Though you couldn’t quite count it as a sacrifice in your case, as it was entirely nonconsensual. Who knew that in a world plagued with death and betrayal, your biggest foe to date would be insomnia? It could almost be considered amusing, were it not for the fatigue that stung at your eyes and made your stomach feel uneasy. You didn’t have to look at the clock to tell that it was well past midnight, and you knew that with your visa expiring tomorrow, it was crucial to succumb to unconsciousness. If only your stupid brain would cooperate.
It wouldn’t take a genius to determine the cause for your unrest- your anxiety always seemed to spike to new highs when he left you to play a game. At first, you could find the odd excuse for your increased dread and lack of sleep; you’d eaten too much that night, or you’d gotten too much sleep the night before. Once, you managed to convince yourself that your heightened anxiety was caused by ghosts, malevalent entities wandering unseen throughout the hotel. What a night that’d been. But tonight, you could only sigh with the eventual acceptance that you were worried about him.
So far, you’d done a fairly good job at hiding your budding feelings for your mysterious…friend? Acquaintence? You still weren’t quite sure what to label it, especially now that your feelings were evolving again. But your discretion would only get you so far in this place, and you knew in your heart that the first person to figure them out would be the last one you wanted to know. He was clever that way, and just cruel enough to act on it.
“Why did it have to be you?” you found yourself murmuring aloud, the raspiness in your voice reflecting the weariness in your heart. Of the dozens of people residing at the Beach, you’d somehow managed to fall face-first into feelings for the one who was as likely to kill you as he was to even glance in your direction. It was a truth that you tried desperately to shove into the pits of your stomach, but it somehow burned its way out each time you allowed yourself to imagine, even for a second, that your feelings might be returned. He was colder than most people realized, and capable of betrayals that you’d rather not think about. You weren’t entirely convinced that he had emotions at all, so hoping for love felt as unobtainable as hoping to wake up tomorrow back in the real world.
Sighing once more, you shifted your position in bed for what must have been the millionth time that night. The air was hot and thick with humidity, but you found comfort in pulling the sheets up to cradle your face anyways. Besides, you’d long ago accepted that your insomnia had won its battle. What was a little more discomfort if it meant another distraction from him? At that thought, an abrupt but dull noise made you jerk your head in surprise. Turning your head to the door, you realized that it was a soft but persistent knocking.
You frowned at the realization, digging your hand under your pillow to pull out the letter-opener which you’d stashed weeks ago in precaution. Chishiya was not the only danger residing in these hallways. Slipping the blade into the pocket of some pajama shorts you’d smuggled, you took cautious steps toward the door. The knocking had since ceased, but the shadows peering from the crack at the bottom of the door were evidence of the person’s lingering presence. Hand still wrapped tightly around your weapon, you tentatively turned the doorknob and pulled it open just enough to peek through the opening.
In a kinder world, his presence may have been a sense of relief. But seeing Chishiya on the other side of the door, dark and tired eyes baring deeply into your own, you found your grip on the letter-opener tightening. You wished you could ignore the pull in your heart- the faint but throbbing glee at seeing him there, alive, before you. But feelings aside, you were still able to recognize him as the threat that he was. It was a moment before you found your words, instead watching him blankly for a few seconds more.
“Chishiya,” you whispered finally. Your eyebrows had furrowed, partly in confusion and partly in worry. “What are you doing here?”
He paused for a moment, and you could have sworn that you saw his eyes widen briefly. If they did, it was only for a split second. Instead, he gave you a slight tilt of his head in a strange greeting before lightly clearing his throat.
“Could I come in?” he asked.
It didn’t escape you that he had evaded your question, but this was something that you found to be typical for the man. He wasn’t one to give away secrets easily, and for some strange reason, everything was a secret to him. You worried your lower lip between your teeth, considering his request. Sure, he had been in your room before, mostly to discuss strategies and tinker with the odd invention. But never before had he arrived so late, and never in such an odd state.
Deciding eventually that it would be weird for him to kill you after being out so late in a game, you gave a small nod and opened the door wider. It didn’t seem lost on him that you’d been hesitant to accept his presence, and you knew from the slight uptick of his lips that this thought amused him. He had learned very quickly in your relationship that you didn’t fully trust him, and at times it seemed he admired you for it. And as you eyed the hands that he had stuffed, as usual, within his pockets, he pulled them out and waved them, empty, in the air. You relaxed slightly at the gesture, surprised he would even care to offer you that white flag.
“You?” he asked, eyeing your own pocket-stuffed hands. You cleared your throat awkwardly as you pulled them out, revealing the letter-opener for him to eye with an arched eyebrow. You gave him a glance as though to apologize, but he simply offered you a genuinely amused grin. “Smart,” he muttered, and it made your heart buzz.
“Care to explain why you woke me up?” you said, forcing an accusatory tone to your voice. It rolled off of him like butter, and he blinked at you stupidly.
“You weren’t asleep,” he said simply. This time, it was your turn to arch a brow.
“Your eyes are too bright, and your voice too stable,” he offered. “I’ve seen you after you’ve just woken up, and this isn’t one of those times.”
Choosing not to entertain his usual cockiness, you decided instead to slump onto your bed, rubbing a shoulder and rolling your neck to relieve some tension.
“Okay, fine,” you said, giving him a glare to show your disapproval. Asleep or not, you were in no mood to be condescended. “Care to explain why you’ve bothered me while I’m trying to sleep?”
To your surprise, Chishiya once again hesitated before speaking. It was unlike him. Sure, he was a man of few words who liked to cherry-pick what he’d say before opening his mouth, but it was never due to hesitancy. If anything, his pauses were always timed to perfection to emphasize a point or increase tension. Now, it seemed…nervous. In fact, Chishiya overall seemed different from his usual self. Before, you had chocked his appearance up to his own fatigue. He must have just come back from his game, and you were sure that it had to have been a rough one given his late return. But now, you began to wonder if the crinkles beneath his eyes- the slight give in his stance- were due to something other than being tired. If you didn’t know better, you’d almost say that there was a pained look lying in the cracks of his cool expression.
Eventually the silence grew to an unbearable point of awkwardness, and you shifted slightly in your spot, increasing the amount of room beside you on the bed. Chishiya only stared at your movements as though unsure of what they meant. Giving a faint roll of your eyes, you patted next to you with one hand.
“Sit next to me?” you asked. It was a bold move, sure. And in a better-rested state, you’re sure it was one you’d have never made. But your mind was bogged with exhaustion, and your heart was too tired to put up a fight. So instead you waited patiently as the gears turned in his head to catch up with what you were asking of him. The moment realization hit him was painfully amusing and you cherished the look of surprise that overcame his features. To see him so defenseless…unmasked…it was a treat that made you almost thankful for your insomnia.
Wordlessly, Chishiya took careful steps before positioning himself beside you. His eyes were trained forward and away from your own in a deep focus, and for some reason it brought back the memory of when you’d found a snake in your garden as a child. ‘It’s more afraid of you than you are of it, you know!’ It had been difficult to believe your parents’ words then, but it resonated so clearly with you now.
“As much as I enjoy the silence, you know that you’ll have to tell me eventually, right?” you finally stated, words surprisingly gentle. You watched his eyes lower to the floor as he swallowed thickly. You wanted so dearly to be patient with him; it was in your nature to tend to wounded animals, and it was clear to you now that that was what he had come to you as. But this was different- he was unknown territory, even for you, and you were worried that if you didn’t seize this moment to explore this side of him, it would soon be gone forever. You were debating repeating your words or maybe even giving up altogether when he muttered something under his breath.
“What?” you asked him. His eyes were still glued to their place on your floor, body tense as though he were holding his breath.
“Can you…hold me?” he repeated louder this time.
You blinked at him once, twice, three times. Surely you’d misheard? Your breath was hitched in your throat, all thoughts suddenly abandoning your mind. Could this be a trick? Could he have really come to kill you, and this was just a strange way to make yourself vulnerable to him? Your heart raced as the possibilities flitted through your mind at lightning speeds, each one darker and more frightening. The whole thing was dizzying, and you wondered for a moment if you would ever recover. But, evil as he is, he decided to surprise you one last time that night.
“Please?” he asked. His eyes had swooped over to your own now, and the pleading look in them was enough to dispel each of your previous theories, one by one. Right now, it didn’t matter to you if it was a trick. Before you could even move to wrap your arms around him, your heart had decided it for you- right then, right there, your only goal was to cling to this moment. To cling to him- or at least this version of him that had somehow wound up at your door that night.
You found his body to still be stiff as you encompassed him with your own, but it began to relax with each passing breath. You hadn’t realized quite how tightly wound he’d been; from an outsider’s perspective, there had still been an ounce of composure to him. But now, you could feel how frail it all was. Not just him, but the him he wanted you and the rest of the world to see. With him in your arms, you realized now that it was all hanging by a thin string, dangling in the grasps of the Borderlands. With this realization, you held him a little tighter, nuzzling your face against his shoulder.
Your movements were deliberately slow, as you wanted to be sure he was comfortable. As new as you were to all of this, you knew that he had to have been even less experienced, and you didn’t want to overwhelm him. But as the moments passed on, you were both able to relax enough to lie down and fully embrace one another. Your cheeks warmed when he eventually chose to pull you even more tightly to him, seeming to finally accept your presence in full. You returned the gesture by drawing small circles into his back with your palm, earning you the softest of sighs into your ear.
No more words were spoken that night, which was fine by you. Any desire you’d had for an explanation before was now long gone, replaced by the sole intention to comfort him. You didn’t know what internal wounds he possessed, but you wanted to tend to as many as you could, and you knew that whatever this was would likely disappear with the morning light. Instead, you continued to hold him through the night, feeling his breathing deepen once he finally slipped into dreams. And for the first time in your life, you said a silent ‘thank you’ to the insomnia which had plagued you earlier before drifting into your own slumber.
I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I did! I took a long break from writing due to strep throat, but I think this is a nice way to ease myself back in. I'd really love to keep working with Chishiya's character, so if anyone has any ideas for future prompts, let me know! <3

Tumblr media
Summary: You ask Chishiya and Kuina to teach you some bad words in Japanese. You don’t speak Japanese.
Word Count: 0.8k
Tumblr media
your native language wasn’t Japanese
to be honest, you can barely speak the language
you were supposed to be enjoying your holidays
instead, you were obligated to join these death or life games
and that’s exactly what you were about to do
You sat on the floor staring at the people walking into the waiting room while stuffing chips in your mouth. Beside you stood Chishiya in his iconic stance, leaning against the wall, and with his hoodie on.
“Teach me bad words”
Kuina, who stood beside Chishiya, chewing on her fake cigar, sent Chishiya a warning look. Chishiya looked down hesitantly, remembering the last time he answered one of your wishes. “Why do you want to learn bad words?”
You shrugged, “If I’m going to insult someone they might as well understand me.” Your eyes met his. You stayed like that for a solid one minute. You were expecting him to teach you the whole Japanese thesaurus for cursing words and to make sure of it, you activated your ultimate weapon: the puppy eyes.
The fake blonde straight-up ignored you. He just looked back up, lost in thought.
Was it wise to teach bad words to you? Especially to you? In the best-case scenario, you would use them wisely. Worst case scenario, your dumb ass would cause the next world war. That was the problem of you being a chaotic, dumb genius. At the same time, he was curious about how you would use the newly acquired knowledge. But again, he wouldn’t want to be responsible for that chaos.
You pulled from his jacket, demanding attention. “Oi, teach me a bad word. Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya”, you could go on for days if it meant getting what you wanted. “No, he won’t do it.”, Kuina looked down at you with a strict expression on her face and you stopped your actions immediately. Your eyes went from the shorter to her, then to him again and finally to her. A smile crept on your face. “Kuiiinnaaaa”, your face beamed with excitement the moment you spoke it again, “Can you teach me a bad word?” Chishiya couldn’t help but chuckle. He looked at Kuina expectantly.
“Okay”, she positioned herself in front of you. Neither Chishiya nor you had expected her to give in to your pleas. But he would soon realise her original plan. “あなたは美しいです”, she said. You blinked, “come again?”. She rolled her eyes and repeated the sentence until you had it right. “What does it mean?” “You filthy pig”. Chishiya smirked shaking his head. You smiled happily and mumbled the sentence several times for yourself before the game started.
The game consisted in escaping the area alive, as some zoo animals would be running wild and free, waiting for their next meal.
Hopefully not you
Niragi was having the time of his life shooting at the animals from afar. His maniacal laugh echoed throughout the whole place, just like the shooting sounds. “あなたは美しいです!  あなたは美しいです!!” Niragi looked down, trying to find the source of the noise. Then he saw you running away from a tiger as if it depended on your life. Which it actually did. It was nice to see you fearing for your life, but why on earth were you screaming “you are beautiful” so aggressively? He shook his head. You do you, he thought. It wouldn’t be the first time you tried flirting with your opponent to save your own ass. Maybe it could work, who knows how strong your charm was. He shrugged and continued blasting off the heads of the animals.
-----------------
Chishiya and Kuina were taking cover behind some vegetation, discussing the next steps, when they suddenly heard you screaming the words Kuina had taught you at the beginning. They looked in your direction, only to see you smaking the same tiger that had been pursuing you throughout the whole game with a metallic walking stick. The tiger had been shot several times by some beach people while you were running, and now the tiger was weaker and more vulnerable. Not only the tiger’s body was hurt, but also his ego, as he was hit with a stick by a young adult and getting destroyed by it. “ あなたは美しいです, you motherfucker!”
-----------------
“Should we stop them?”, said Kuina in between amusement and concern. “No, let them blow some steam.” Chishiya smiled satisfied. This was worth remembering, “Are you going to tell him?” “What? That that’s not an actual insult? They’ll figure it out, eventually”, she chuckled, and finally went to your aid.

A Pair Of Spades
Chishiya x GN!Suguru!reader
Warning:small argument, language, Over protective Niragi
You were at the beach watching everyone drink and have fun while you sat by the bar looking at Kuina and a blonde hair boy. You smiled as you kept looking at him while Usagi was talking to you when she tapped your shoulder to return back into reality as you looked at her. “Your staring again” she says as she drinks what she was drinking.
“Ya sorry what were you saying?” you asked while she shakes her head “never mind go talk to him” she replies as she gets up and walks over to Arisu. You sighed and got up starting to walk over to kuina and Chishiya as you walked over Kuina waved at you smiling. “So what party happening over here?” you asked in a joking tone while kuina giggled a little “nothing we were just talking but i have to go help Ann” Kuina said walking away leaving you and Chishiya alone.
You and Chishiya just stayed silent for a bit until Chishiya spoke “I’m getting food want to join?” he looks at you with that smirk on his face. You smiles and nodded as he walks away to go get food while you followed. When you guys got food and sat down somewhere you guys started eating “Chishiya you should try this strawberry cake! it’s so good!” you said taking a little bite off your fork and putting your fork near Chishiya mouth.
Chishiya rolls his eyes but takes a bite and eats it hes smiles and nods his head a little which makes you smile. You both looked at each other as you start to lean it and he didn't stop you....but some did. Someone grabbed the back of Chishiya’s hoodie and threw him back “What the hell do you think your doing?!” their stood Niragi. You looked at him “What are you doing Niragi?!” you yelled at him while Chishiya looks up at Niragi confused. Niragi grabbed Chishiya hoodie and put his gun in his face “You stay away from my Younger sibling! If ya don’t ill blow your brains out you hear me?!” He said as he shoved Chishiya he he roughly grabbed your arm making you walk away from him.
“Niragi....Niragi,,,,NARAGI!” your screamed at him while pulling your arm away from his rough grip. “What!” he screamed back “What the hell was that?!” You screamed all he did was scoff and walk away acting like a big shot. You signed as you rub your arm as you walked to go find Chishiya. once you found him he was talking to Kuina and Ann you started to walk over to apologize to him but once he say you he said something to Kuina and Ann before walking away. You tried to follow him but his somewhat long but short legs was a fast speed walker.
“Chishiya!” You said she slowed down a bit but was still walking fast you started to run to catch up with him and stood in front of him which made him stop “What?” he said “I just wanted to tell you home i’m sorry for my brothers out-” “I’m not mad about that....i’m mad on how you did tell me” he said bluntly as he goes to walk away you grabbed his wrist “Wait just let me explain on why i didn't tell you...please....just 5 minutes” he stayed quiet until “5 minutes that’s all” he said “ok thank you...the reason i did tell you is cuz i didn't want to lose you....i knew if you found out you would leave me since you two hated each other that’s why i didn't tell you...” you said as you looked at him trying to read his expression but you couldn't. “Chishiya?” you asked he grabbed you face and kissed your cheek as he walked away. You put you hand to where he kissed and you smiled.

You'd been following Niragi for quite a while now. You'd seen what he's like. You'd seen what he's like. He disgusted you, but it took you by surprise when he stopped.
There was an overhead, blocking you from the light. You were on one side, with him on the opposite end. He faced away from you, towards an open area - a street crossing, you thought. You reached towards your gun, hanging from it's holster at your hip.
Carefully, you pulled it out, careful to be quiet as to not alert Niragi that you were there.
Suddenly, there were gunshots and you jumped. You peeked out from behind the pillar, but Niragi still was facing away from you.
"Yo!" You heard him shout, and you peeked out again. In the distance, you could vaguely make out a figure. The man you'd been following seemed occupied so you decided to approach.
Carefully, gun in hand, you made your way under the overhead, rubble crunching ever so slightly under you feet.
"It makes me pretty damn happy to run into you here." He continued, his voice booming. He sounded dangerous, malice dripping from every word.
You stepped forward again, ducking behind trucks and other vehicles to avoid being seen. You didn't think he would turn around, but you could never be too careful, especially with someone like him.
From you closer position, you could vaguely make out the one who Niragi was talking to. They were tall and wearing a white shirt. At first, nobody came to mind, but you quickly realized that the description matched Arisu.
Your eyes widened, and you inhaled sharply. Niragi was shooting at Arisu, and maybe someone else as well. That wasn't good.
"You intentionally didn't kill me with that shot." You heard someone say. This voice, you immediately recognized as Chishiya. Your expression soured, what he'd said to you before clouding your mind.
You'd only ever been anything but kind to him, but he was always brushed you off. He seemed annoyed with you, for no reason at all. It pissed you off.
"I wasn't going to end this with a surprise attack." Niragi declared in response to Chishiya's words. "Okay, let's begin: a game of shootout. Now that the three of us are back together, that seems most suitable."
You tensed up. Between players? What was the point? You understood that Niragi was angry, or maybe just insane, but that would only reverse the progress you had all struggled to make.
"A game between players?" Chishiya asked, voicing your thoughts out loud. You crept closer, their conversation interesting you profoundly.
"The three of us are very similar." Niragi started, "We're oddballs who can't fit in with society. Even so, our need to feel alive is much greater than most people's."
And then, Niragi coughed again, what was likely blood splattering against the ground. Finally, you figured out what was probably the reason why he was proposing this.
He was dying anyways. And he wanted to drag as many people down with him, to go out with a bang.
"I haven't got much time left, so let's do this." He declared as you exited the overhead. There was a building of some sort, it's intended purpose now lost to vegetation. You rushed there, hiding behind it. Niragi didn't seem to notice, but you couldn't guarantee anything for Arisu and Chishiya, and whoever else might be there.
"As kindred spirits, join me in one final game!" He cried manically before tossing one of his guns on the ground near Chishiya.
From your new spot, you could see better. Chishiya was lying on the ground, clearly hit by the bullets released earlier by Niragi. Arisu was standing facing the ex-militant, a shotgun hanging off his shoulder.
There was movement in the corner of your eye, making you look over. You could see Chishiya getting up to go grab the gun a few feet in front of him on the grass.
"I like it." He declared, hand still resting on his side. That must've been where he got shot. "Join us, Arisu."
Arisu was clearly surprised that Chishiya was on board with Niragi's plan. In all honesty, so were you, but you didn't know what he went through. Maybe it would be better for the white-haired man to die, anyways. It was clear he didn't have any empathy.
"I'm sure you despise me as well. Use this opportunity to take revenge." He continued. "Let's play a game, the three of us."
"Are you insane?" Arisu asked in a shaking voice, nervously grasping his shotgun. You tensely held your own gun, standing defensively, peeking out from behind the wall of the building.
"Come on, you've got a gun too. Take aim!" Niragi persuaded, taking a couple of shaky steps towards Arisu.
"Do we really have to do this?" The man trailed off wearily, swaying ever so slightly.
All of a sudden, a gunshot echoed through the crossing, making you jump. Another, though quieter, one echoed. You peeked out again from your hiding spot and say both Niragi and Chishiya shooting at Arisu as he ducked behind a car.
The ex-militant jumped aggressively onto another car, shooting at Chishiya as he rushed behind a red car.
Bullets exploded out of Niragi's gun, the gunshots echoing out through the area, making you jump each time.
"Niragi! Stop this!" Arisu cried. You couldn't see him because of the car blocking his form. He likely couldn't see you either, so you rushed out of the building behind you, using the gunshots to cover any noise you may make.
"I'm simply doing what I want, the way I want!" Niragi started, "You guys are the same! It's always 'me!' with you two, it's always about what you want! You aren't experts on life just because you saw a bunch of people die! 'Living for others'? That's such bullshit! All we really care about is our own selves! As long as it's good for us, that's all we really need!"
Everything went quiet. No one said a word. Niragi was right. You all did only live for yourselves. People had died because of you. You had hurt others, you weren't good people. That didn't mean you should kill each other, though.
"Yeah." Arisu finally said. "You may be right. Killing each other here might just be appropriate for us."
You gritted your teeth. If Arisu gave into this bullshit, they would all die. You couldn't let that happen.
"You're all idiots!" You yelled, aiming your gun for Niragi's calf. Grimacing, you pulled the trigger, the force of the gun making you stumble backwards.
The bullet nestled itself in Niragi's leg, making him stumble on the car and eventually fall to one knee. You hated using guns.
"Sure, we deserve to die! Niragi surely does! But by resigning ourselves to death, the only thing we're doing is being cowards! I don't know about you, but I've regretted enough of my life. I'm done with that shit! If I'm going to die, it won't be in cowardice, it'll be in an attempt to protect those dear to me!"
You gun was still pointed at Niragi, clammy hands grasping it and you finger hovered over the trigger. You wouldn't die here. Not now.
Suddenly, you saw Arisu stand up from the corner of your eye.
"I'm not doing this." He declared. "I won't pull this trigger just to help myself." A dark humor made itself apparent in his voice, making you laugh darkly.
"This shit is ridiculous. I don't care about your shitty fantasy, asshole." You spat at Niragi, gun still pointed at his face.
It was quiet. Nothing was said. Niragi looked back and forth between you and Arisu, face blank with surprise. His gun was still pointed at Arisu, but his arm was relaxed, not ready to shoot.
"That sure put a damper on things." Niragi said with a chuckle, his gunning arm dropping down to his side.
"Arisu?" You heard a voice call, recognizing it as Usagi. "What are you doing?"
You chuckled darkly. What were you doing? It was all pointless, you couldn't believe the people you respected most were nearly dragged down with Niragi.
"Oh yeah... There was you too." Niragi said slowly, voice dripping with contempt as he raised his gun again, aimed at Usagi. He shot at her feet, missing her by mere inches as she jumped to the side, another bullet rushing at her.
"You asshole." You growled under your breath.
"Stop it! Usagi has no part in this!" Arisu screamed as he aimed the shotgun over the car, pointed right at Niragi.
"Every game needs a heroine to make it more exciting!" The ex-militant cried manically, and at this point, you were sure he'd gone insane.
"When the two of you are dead, the three of us can go back to being kindred spirits!" He yelled, looking crazily between you and Usagi. "I can't stand to be alone anymore." He said finally, quietly, before raising his gun to point to Usagi.
And then the sound of his gun firing rung into your ears, the man before you turning quietly and pointing his gun at you. Anger fueled you, rushing through you veins like lava.
You shot him in the shoulder, face blank as his own bullet grazed your cheek. Arisu had shot him as well, blasting him off the car. He landed pathetically to your right, you walked over to him and stepped on his wound, making him groan.
You grimaced, stepping dismissively over him as you rushed over to help Usagi, wiping your cheek on your sleeve on the way. Right as you mind cleared, you saw that Usagi didn't get shot. Chishiya had stepped into the way.
You cursed, starting to run. He couldn't die, he was an asshole, but he was important. You rushed over, ready to help him. Blood stained the side of his shirt as he grimaced, but otherwise, he seemed fine.
You breathed a sigh of relief, shoulders shaking as you took another step closer to him.
Arisu both rushed over, Usagi walking around from behind. He gingerly lifted his shirt up, showing that the bullet had grazed his side.
"Hey..." Arisu started, suddenly remembering that Chishiya never finished what he'd been saying. "What were you going to tell me earlier?"
"Chishiya made a noise suggesting he'd forgotten and had just remembered. "Oh, yeah."
"To me," He started, "people who live life seriously seem like fools. Those people who strive so hard... I just want to curse them. All their goodwill was repugnant to me. But I must've been jealous. They had what I didn't. It seemed like they were criticizing me for being such a vain and vulgar person. I was afraid of them."
The monologue sent chills down you spine. You nodded solemnly.
"I get what you mean." Arisu said sadly. You looked down, knowing the feeling all too well.
"Guys..." Usagi started, her voice shaking. "The King of Spades is coming."
You all looked up, the blimp overhead.
"Shit..." you cursed, you'd thought you would finally get a break. "We need to go."
Usagi went with Arisu and Chishiya went with you, hiding behind cars and trucks, trying to find cover from the King of Spades' guns.
Your gun was heavy in your hand. You could see from your side of the street that Arisu had kept the shotgun, and Chishiya was holding the pistol he'd been given by Niragi.
"We should try to find the others!" You shouted across the street to Usagi and Arisu, seeing them both nod back.
You kept running, continuously hiding behind vehicles and the sides of building.
"We can't go farther until the King of Spades is defeated! We need to kill him!" Usagi declared, looking nervously at you and Chishiya. You looked towards him, gaze anxious.
"We should at least try." He whispered. You nodded, looking across the street to Usagi.
"Let's do it!" You yelled, hand tightening anxiously around the gun. You and Usagi made eye contact before rushing up ahead, trying to get to where the King was.
Suddenly, Arisu yelled. "Kuina! An!" You looked up ahead, and, lo and behold, there they were.
They looked around for a moment before seeing you, starting to run towards Arisu and Usagi.
You decided to make your way across the street to communicate better.
"Are you guys okay?" You asked once they arrived, receiving a nod.
"It's so good to see you guys though. Good to know you're all okay." Kuina said, breathing heavily from running from the King.
"Yeah, you too." Usagi agreed.
"The King of Spades is trying to end things here." An said once things had calmed down slightly and greetings had been exchanged.
"Let's defeat the King together." Kuina finished for her, making everybody nod in agreement.
"We were thinking the exact same thing." Usagi said.
Suddenly, the King shot at the car you were hiding behind. You peeked over the top of the car, seeing him approaching. He was always so calm, keeping a walking pace.
You gulped, clammy hands gripping the gun tightly. You had to end it here.
Three other players sprinted to the car beside you, trying to hide behind it. Two of them made it, but the other was gunned down before they could get out of the way of the bullets.
You gulped, peeking over the top of the car again and seeing the King even closer. You gestured to everyone to go, sprinting away from the King.
You made it to another car, hiding behind it to catch your breath, when you noticed Chishiya gesturing for you to go to him. You took another deep breath and sprinted as fast as you could.
He'd been kinder to you recently. You weren't sure why, maybe he grew up a bit and realized that having enemies in this god forsaken country wasn't a good idea.
You made it to Chishiya, who was only one or two cars in front of you when An tripped. You stopped, turning back to check on her.
The King was only three or four meters away from her, making you cry out.
"An!" You heard Arisu say as well, making Kuina stop.
The King approached her menacingly, you raising your gun in an attempt to save her.
She took out her own gun, trying to shoot him in a desperate attempt but he grabbed it away. She tried to scramble to her feet when the King grabbed her shirt and shot aimlessly at Arisu and Usagi, forcing them to move out of the way.
Just as you were about to shoot, the side mirror of a car hit the King's head. Kuina kicked it, you put together. Finally, the King's attention was drawn away from An, giving her a chance to grab her gun and run off, hiding behind the car you and Chishiya were behind.
"You alright?" You asked, An nodding in reply.
You waited for a little bit, letting An catch her breath. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, like what a car emits. You peeked out from behind the car you hid behind, only to see another car running into the King and driving him into, well, yet another car.
They burst into flames as people stopped hiding to see if the King had finally been killed.
The group who you presumed were in charge of the stunt started celebrating. Then, bullets found their way into their leaders chest. The King wasn't dead quite yet.
From the flames, he stood up. Nothing had caught fire, so you figured his gear must've been fire resistant. He stepped onto the roof of the car that had crashed into him and started shooting at everyone who'd been watching.
You gulped and crouched back down behind cover. You wouldn't die here. Once the shooting finally stopped, you peeked out again and saw that he was taking off his cloak. Underneath it, he was wearing a bulletproof vest and a full face mask.
Then, he took off his mask, revealing a shaved head. It was scarred, and when you looked closer, you realized he only had one functional eye. His appearance sent chills down you spine.
His face was expressionless, emotionless. He felt no guilt, no mercy at killing so many people. You gripped your gun tighter, though it offered no sense of security.
He turned around, his eye finding yours before you ducked into the cover of the car. Eventually, his gaze landed on Arisu and Usagi, who stood petrified, out in the open. He raised his gun, shooting mercilessly. They were only barely able to duck out of the way as they rushed behind a car.
They quickly started running, Arisu ducking behind the cover of a different car to take offensive as Usagi ran, fully utilizing her climbing skills.
Eventually, the shooting stopped as the King had to reload, and Arisu took that chance. He peeked up over the car and took a shot at the King, who rolled out of the way.
Everything was quiet for a while as the King reloaded. Once he was finished, he peeked out from behind the car, gun loaded and ready to fire. Then, suddenly, an arrow shot itself into his side. It penetrated the bulletproof vest, but it didn't get through it.
The girl who had shot the arrow started to load another into her bow when the King started shooting at her, forcing her to run into cover. The King ducked behind the car again to remove the arrow from his vest.
You took the chance to run out of you hiding spot, sprinting down the street. You ducked behind the cover of the cars on your way, gun gripped tightly in your hand, always held close to your chest.
Eventually, there was a building in front of you. You saw Arisu and Usagi duck in, motioning for Chishiya to follow you - at some point, the two of you and An and Kuina had separated. It was dark - the lights weren't on - but it seemed safe and offered good cover.
You rushed in, ducking to the side where you couldn't be seen. Finally, you relaxed the grip on your gun and slid down the wall. You lungs heaved, not used to running so much.
"Jesus..." You muttered under your breath, eyes closing. You'd been having trouble sleeping, and it was a conscious fight not to succumb to rest. You wiped the sweat off your forehead with the back of your hand, taking deep breaths.
Kuina and An came in from the back, putting your mind to rest. Everybody was accounted for, everybody was safe.
"Arisu." Someone called. It was a girl with bow and a quiver of arrows, who you reasoned was the person that had shot the King.
"Heiya." He replied, looking over. They seemed to know each other, though you weren't sure how or why.
"You're Usagi?" The girl - Heiya - asked. Usagi nodded, looking at the newcomer in surprise. "Yes."
"Nice to meet you."
Suddenly, a familiar voice called out. Despite the voice being familiar, it felt like you hadn't heard it in ages.
"He's about to run out of his spare magazines." It was Aguni. You'd known him from the Beach, he'd been the leader of the militants. He should've died in the ten of hearts game, though. It was a miracle he was still alive.
Clearly, the others echoed your own feelings, breaking out into questions. He was probably the best person to fight the King with, though.
"Aguni? How'd you get here?" Usagi asked, watching him confusedly.
He rushed to somewhere with a little more cover from the King before answering.
"I followed you."
It was silent for a little while, the man's words processing through everyone's minds.
"You must like me." Heiya said with a little smile.
Aguni seemed to skip over what the girl said, moving over to get closer to all of you.
"He's still just a human. He's not omnipotent. His guns are the same, they can't be fired forever. When he's out of rounds, he reloads, same as us. The blimp probably sends more round down for him."
"We've got weapons." Arisu remarked, lifting his shotgun. You felt your grip on your gun tighten, a slight reminder it was there. Everybody checked their own weapons, Chishiya having a quick look at the gun he was given by Niragi, Kuina readying her fists, An taking a quick look at her own gun.
You weren't helpless. You had weapons, you had the means to do this.
"But these are all the rounds we've got." Aguni finished your train of thought.
Suddenly, Kuina remembered something. "I've also got this." She said, pulling a can out of her pocket. "A good luck charm." You looked at it questioningly before Chishiya said something.
"Oh yeah. I've already used mine, though."
"It's a bomb Chishiya made." Kuina answer the silent question hanging in the air.
"What good is that?" Aguni scoffed, looking at Chishiya.
"Lure him in and use it close." The man answered quickly. "It's made with kerosene, shoot it and it'll go."
"So an ANFO bomb." An remarked.
"That won't make much of an explosion." Aguni challenged. It wouldn't but if you could find, maybe, something flammable, like alcohol it would work great. Maybe if you lured the King to a gas station? You weren't quite sure.
Arisu answered your question for you. "There's a drugstore over there. If it's closed off and filled with aerosol fumes, the explosion will be amplified." He finished with a proud grimace.
"You sure of that?" Aguni said skeptically.
"Maybe." Arisu answered back. It wasn't a foolproof plan, everyone would have to play their parts.
"In other words, someone has to lure him in there." Kuina put together.
"Yeah." Arisu agreed. "I'll wait in the store for him and set it off." That was even riskier, though. If he was in the store when the bomb went off, he'd surely die.
"You'd die." You said warily, not ready for such a loss. Usagi seemed to have the same thought as you, saying something similar.
"No." He said confidently. "I'll get away."
"How?" Chishiya challenged amusedly.
"On the second floor," he started, a slight grin appearing as his plan formed. "Even if I'm blown outside, I can still survive." There was a little while of silence while he gauged the other's reactions to his plan before he added something on. "Maybe."
Chishiya nodded, and you agreed. It was reasonable, probably wouldn't kill him. Might seriously injure him enough to get him killed later on, though.
"This is nothing but 'maybe's." Heiya remarked suspiciously. It wasn't the best plan, no, but it was probably the best you had.
"It's worth betting on his maybe's, though." Aguni argued.
"Let's not bet too much, though. This plan isn't foolproof, it'll probably go wrong at some point. One or two people should stay back and interfere if it's going to shit." You declared, gaze sweeping over everybody as they looked at you.
"I can do that." Chishiya said, offering you a his signature grin.
"I'll join him, then." Kuina decided.
"Now that we have our two people to stay back, who's going to be the decoy?"
"This time, I'll be the decoy." Aguni said to Arisu, clearly referencing something in their shared past.
"It's reckless to lure him alone." Usagi noticed.
"I'm enough." Aguni pushed, but Usagi stayed put.
"Let's all be decoys." She finally decided. You were up for it, you were far from weak. Everyone else seemed to echo your feelings, - except Chishiya and Kuina of course - nodding.
Aguni scoffed, clearly defeated. He rolled his eyes, but otherwise, seemed on board with the plan.
"Okay. Let's go."
i'm so sorry this ended up getting so long and i didn't want to have a huge wall of text so i'm splitting it into two parts, i hope it's ok so far though :)
remember to drink water :>

It was a dark night, a crisp chill filled the air as the moon looked upon the city of Tokyo.
Chishiya Shuntaro perched like a cat in the top floor’s corner. There, he was safe to observe the behaviours of the screaming people below. That was, until he heard heavy footsteps coming to the top floor; the tagger must’ve cleared out the bottom floors quicker than anticipated.
A high pitched squeal came from a young girl, around 11 maybe, who was running towards the corner that the blonde male had settled in. He was quick to grab the girl and cover her mouth, if she got caught then, he did too. Startled, the girl jumped, but soon saw that he was harmless appeared harmless. He dragged her to the floor so that they’d be hiding behind the wall.
“Be quiet. You’ll die otherwise.” spoke the blunt man, the girl nodded in response. “Can you climb?” he questioned, the girl shook her head negatively and the man let out a sigh. “You know you have a low chance of survival, right?” he mentioned, she looked up at him, terrified. “You can’t be so sensitive if you want to survive in a place like this. This world is terrible so, get used to it.” he continued. “You’re quite insensitive, aren’t you?” the girl finally spoke up. As he opened his mouth to speak, the heavy footsteps intensified. The two looked up quickly to see the tagger rounding the corner.
“Shit… we don’t have time to run now.” the man mumbled. Without a thought, the sly man grabbed the girl, covered her mouth and hid behind her, essentially using her as a human shield. “Please let go of me! Please don’t do this! Please I’ve got so much to live for! I wanna see my mo-“ The man halted a minute before slightly doubting his actions. Regardless, there was a loud bang and before another thought could be heard, the young girl had gone limp.
Chishiya’s eyes faulted at the view of the young girl on the floor, a bullet hole through the centre of her forehead. The sound of a gun reloading brought him back to his senses though. He quickly hopped onto a pipe and slid down to a lower floor. His hand brushed over his blood splattered cheek, glancing down to the fresh gore that soaked his hand.
Before he knew it though, the phone buzzed.
“Game Over.”
Chishiya found himself on the rooftop, staring off into the expanse of stars. Unfortunately, the usually empty boy felt a little less empty on this night. He doesn't know why but tonight, he felt a little more vulnerable.
[Reader] approached the sombre boy; owl's hooting is the only thing able to be heard, accompanied by [Reader]'s soft footsteps. "Chishiya?" she called, no response. "You look... different. What happened?" no response. She sat beside him silently, glancing at the moon lit boy. There was blood splattered somewhat heavily on his face. "Is that blood yours?" no response. The closer she looked, she noticed a few shiny streaks on the boy's face, had he been crying? Obviously, you had noticed that the boy had never really shown much emotion before so, she didn't know how to react properly to this display of despair.
"I don't know what this feeling is, [Reader]. What am I feeling?" the boy spoke up., his voice cracking slightly while doing so. "What happened?" [Reader] queried, to which he mumbled, "I don't want to talk about it."
"Well, you have to talk about it, otherwise I can’t tell you what you’re feeling, Shuntaro.” [Reader] stated, he hesitated before continuing to explain that he had sacrificed a young girl for his own survival earlier on that evening. “I’ve never felt bad about hurting someone before, I don’t understand why this is different…” the boy finished. “Did they perhaps… remind you of someone? You often change perspective on things when it hits closer to home.” [Reader] questioned. The question made Chishiya think back. Truth be told, it did remind him of someone. Someone who’s death had made him the way he was today.
“A little boy, I couldn’t save him in the hospital because his transplant got postponed. He died a week later… I just wanted to save him, [Reader]. He could’ve lived such a long life…”
And before he knew it, more shiny tears rolled down his supple face, leaving pools of salt water to gather around his chapped lips. “Hey… it’s okay, Shuntaro. There’s nothing you can do now.” [Reader] tried to comfort the boy, rubbing his back gently. Though, her actions only made his silent sobs turn into quiet wails. “Come here…” she mumbled, pulling the vulnerable boy under her wing. His blonde head lay on her chest as his cries became more uncontrolled. Comforting hushes and hair stroking had managed to calm him down enough, fewer tears were seen and lesser cries could be heard. A gentle kiss was planted on his forehead in reassurance of [Reader]’s care and love towards the usually-nonchalant man.
“You did all you could, Shuntaro. That is all you can do.”

Your footsteps were purposefully quiet as you made your way to the side of the building you’d sought shelter in. You palms started to sweat again as you held on tight to your gun. It was your only chance.
Chishiya and Kuina went to the other side, running out quickly because the King was distracted. You weren’t sure where they went, but you really hoped they would be okay.
“We’ll lure him into the alley so the blimp can’t send him ammo.” Aguni’s voice rung in your ears. You were watching the King intently, trying to spot any weaknesses. “Then we’ll lure him into the drugstore. I’ll sprint for it. Then you guys enter that alley and lure him in.”
"Got it." Usagi confirmed, looking back at you and the others. You nodded at her, thinking through the plan one more time. And if anything went wrong, Chishiya and Kuina would be able to help.
You were ready, you decided. This had to go well, you'd make sure of it.
"Arisu. You fill the store with aerosol fumes."
"Right." He nodded, looking at Aguni as he explained the plan. You watched the man as well, palm clenching around your gun, finger resting terrifyingly on the trigger.
And then you were gone. Aguni had left first and the others had followed. You looked behind you as you ran, trusting your allies to keep you safe as your eyes searched for Kuina and Chishiya. You gulped down whatever was in your throat, which you could be convinced was your heart. Your shins ached as your shoes collided with the tarmac, ducking behind a car as gunshots rang out.
You peeked up above the car and saw the King looking at you guys, making eye contact with you and shooting immediately. You ducked back down, looking to Aguni for instructions. He himself peeked over the gun and fired a few shots at the King to create an opportunity for your team to rush further.
You all sprinted the final leg to the alleyway, taking your positions, hidden. You rushed through the maze of turns, taking your spot in a perpendicular alleyway. You lifted your gun and took a couple deep breaths. When you peeked out, you aimed for his feet. You doubted you'd kill him, but you could at least try to immobilize him. The thunderous cracks rushed to your ears, making your head hurt momentarily.
And then the King was shooting back at you, and you rushed into cover. Another set of gunshots ripped through the air, An. Her shots made the King stumble and gave you a chance to rush at him with your knife. You sprinted as fast as you could at the bald man and rugby tackled him, pulling your knife and trying to stab his leg. He grabbed your arm in a tight grip, making you grimace. Asshole. You pulled up your knee and planted it right in his crotch.
You winced as your knee struck solid metal and you realized he was wearing some type of guard. You cursed under your breath, ducking as he swiped at you. You tripped and fell back, cursing again as you stared down the barrel of his gun. Time seemed to slow down, but you were brought back into reality by the two gunshots that knocked him off balance. You scrambled back up onto your feet and took one last swipe at the King before scrambling off to avoid being shot by An.
"Shit! Watch where you're shooting, if I die because of you, it's on your hands!" You called as the King turned and took shots at An.
"I'm not gonna hit you!" She called back, clearly confident in her shooting skills. You just didn't want to die, was that so much to ask?
You hid behind the a corner that obscured you from the King's sight in the alleyway, watching as Heiya climbs on the roof of a car and preps an arrow. You sprint over to behind the car, hearing the arrow release and plant itself into the glass of the vending machine right where the King's head would've been had he not moved. God, this entire thing would be so much easier if the King didn't fucking move.
Suddenly, the gunshots were redirected at you and Heiya, and she jumped down off the car right in front of you, beckoning for you to follow her. The gunshots sounded different, though. They weren't quick. He'd ran out of ammo. That was good. That was really good.
And everything goes quiet. You can hear your breathing, you can feel the sweat dripping down your brow, but gunshots no longer ring out as you run with Heiya into new positions. Eventually, there's a restaurant to your left and you run into it, hiding behind a table. You can finally catch your breath. You close your eyes, clammy palms clinging onto the gun as if it's the only chance you've got. It is.
You watch as the King slowly walks past the shop you're in, gun drawn. You raise your own gun, noticing his bulletproof vest missing. You track him with the gun, but you don't shoot. It's finally calm.
And suddenly, gunshots ring out again. It's loud again, and you rush out of the restaurant, taking rogue shots at the King as he crouched behind the corner the Aguni is watching. He turns his gun back to you and takes a couple shots but luckily, none of them hit as you rush back into the store.
There's more shooting, fast shooting. You peek out of the restaurant again, trying to see what's happening. The King is no longer cowering behind a corner, he's shooting aggressively at the spot Aguni used to stand. And then you see an opportunity, and you take it. There's a food cart right next to you, and the doors on that side of the shop aren't fully closed. You can see the King walking down the alley.
You grab a hold of the food cart and sprint, yelling as you push past the wooden doors in an attempt to barrel into him. You don't crash into him as you were hoping, but you do get him on the ground. A vending machine crashes to the ground beside you but he rolls out of the way. Usagi is jumping from AC unit to AC unit, knocking them all down as you take shots at him with your pistol. But all good things must come to an end and your pistol stops shooting. You rush back into the restaurant and reload your gun, grabbing a magazine from your back pocket and filling the empty slot.
You hear gunshots outside the shop and peek your head out, seeing Aguni firing wildly at the King. He rolls out of the way and out of sight, and you spy Aguni rushing out of his corner to run at him. They grapple a bit before you peek out, finished reloading your gun, and fire some shots at the King. Your hands clench nervously at the idea of shooting Aguni.
Your move is mimicked around, other shots firing before Heiya fires her bow at point blank at the King. You sigh, ducking back behind the corner. Finally, it must be over. There's no way the King could dodge a shot like that. Then, you hear more gunshots and peak out back from behind the corner to see that the King is still standing. You rush over to the other side of the street, ducking next to An behind the fallen vending machine as the King shoots wildly at you, An, and Heiya.
You notice another alleyway on your right and lunge over the vending machine trying to get to it. More shots fire, one grazing your arm and making you yelp. Once you're under cover, you inspect your would, using your opposite sleeve to absorb the spilled blood. You grimace as the sting spreads painfully through your arm at the pressure.
From the main alley, you hear Aguni grunting and you panic, peaking out to see the King slamming his head violently into the wall. Suddenly, so quickly you could hardly see what exactly happened, the King rolled over, holding tight onto Aguni's machine gun and kicking him. Aguni went flying, landing in a pile of cardboard boxes and you could almost feel the pain of whatever just happened.
You ducked back behind the corner, checking how much ammo your gun had. It still had a few shots, so you peeked out again and send a couple bullets flying at the King (who was reloading the machine gun he'd grabbed from Aguni) before ducking back behind the corner. Suddenly, you heard Usagi shout and peeked out again, seeing her flying toward the King.
They wrestled for a bit before he threw her near the alley where you were hiding. You peaked out reaching your hand out to grab her and pull her behind cover with you when Heiya leapt off the vending machine with her knife pulled and tried to get a stab at the King. You scowled as he sent her flying as well.
You gripped the cold metal of your gun with unusually steady hands and took a few more shots at the King before you ducked back behind your cover to reload it. An was shooting at the same time as you and one of her shots landed, planting itself right into the King's chest.
You beckoned for An to join you and Usagi in the alleyway as Heiya grappled with the King over Aguni's machine gun. Suddenly, An murmured, "Shit," and you peeked out to see the King taking aim at Aguni.
You yelled right as Heiya leapt up and tried to redirect the barrel of Aguni's gun, only able to aim it down. Aim it right into her stomach. You turned back behind the corner as you heard gunshots and tried your hardest not to belch. You heard Heiya's grunting as she fell to the ground. The machine gun, which you assumed was empty, was discarded onto the ground with a hollow clatter.
An leapt out from behind your corner and took a few shots at him. None of them hit home. He whipped around, grabbing his pistol from its holster and shot her twice. You could feel your heartbeat in your ears as tears gathered in your eyes and you pressed one hand against your mouth to muffle your cries.
"An!" Usagi cried. Heiya's whimpers rang through your ears. Everything felt so loud and you just wanted to crumple into a ball and give up. You cursed yourself, and everyone else, and whatever sadistic monster put you and your friends here. You cursed them all as tears spilled down your newly blood-splattered face.
Aguni let out a scream comparable to a battle cry, scraping the stones on the pavement as he got up. You could hear a gunshot and a collision, but you didn't peak out from behind the corner. You wiped desperately at your wetted eyes with the back of your hand, trying to clear your vision to get a good shot. You could end this. In the background, you could hear Aguni's grunts as he repeatedly smashed his fist into the King's face.
You peaked out of the corner you hid behind, holding your gun in sweaty, trembling hands. Your eyes kept welling with tears that no matter how many times you wiped them would never leave. You tried to aim through your blurry vision, pulling on the trigger and stumbling back from the recoil.
You cried out in frustration as the bullet planted itself into the wall next to the King, more tears gathering in your eyes. As you looked onwards to Aguni beating the King into the concrete wall, though, he crumpled down and Aguni pulled out his pistol.
The barrel of the gun pressed into the King's temple, and, for you, time seemed to slow down. Your mouth opened, the start of a cry escaping your lips as Aguni pulled the trigger.
Just in time, though, the King ducked further down and out of the way, using one of his hands to unload the gun. You opened fire frantically as Aguni resumed punching him. The bullets all went awry, the closest shots only grazing Aguni or planting themselves in the wall.
It took a couple of clicks for you to register that your gun was all out of bullets, and you ducked behind cover. Tears streamed like rivers down your face and blood still flowed from the graze on your arm. You heard a sickening combo of grunting and thumping and crashing as Aguni beat the King and you once again had to fight not to heave.
When you once again peeked out of the alley, the King was landed in a pile of trash cans with Aguni standing over him ever so menacingly. He was grabbing his leg, and, before you knew it, launching him into the concrete wall on the other side of the alley. A gunshot rang out, echoing infinitely in your head and you ducked back behind the corner. You frantically searched through all your pockets, but you were all out of ammo. Bile rose up your throat and everything seemed to ache. Your head hurt and your face felt numb from all the tears streaming over it.
You shut your eyes tightly and quickly snatched the gun clenched in An's motionless hand. Three bullets. You had to end this. You had hardly heard all the thumping and grunting over your tears and the pounding of your heartbeat in your head. When you peeked out from behind the corner once again, they were both crawling on the ground.
The King clambered on top of Aguni and started punching him in the head, over and over and over and over again. You felt bile try to rise up your throat again. You tried to hold your hands steady but the shaking kept throwing your aim off. On top of the tears, you wouldn't even be able to shoot someone from point blank range.
The King wrapped his arm around Aguni's neck in a chokehold and you started firing uselessly, all of the bullets missing by miles. You kept desperately trying to pull the trigger but all it awarded you was a quiet click and continuing to see Aguni's pained face as he was choked to death.
Having enough, you threw the empty gun to the side and leapt at the King, tumbling a couple times before ending up on top of him. You tried punching him frantically, screams tearing your throat with each strike. More tears of frustration just welled in your eyes as he used his arm to block your punches.
With his other arm, he started redirecting your punches. One of your fists flew into the ground and you grimaced. He used the leverage of your arm to flip you over, head banging painfully against the ground.
You struggled as he reached back and unsheathed a knife. The next thing you knew, searing pain was burning through your body as he pulled the dagger out of your side. You screamed, tears flowing from your eyes like an overfilled dam had suddenly broken. Hot fire escaped from your throat as a scream, but no matter the pain in your throat the pain in your side was infinitely worse.
He plunged the dagger in again and your screams only intensified. You squeezed your eyes shut and just wished you could write all this off as a bad dream. You were going to die, and there was nothing you could do about it. You were going to die on the dirty, hard ground. You were going to be stabbed to death trying to do something that was basically impossible anyways.
You had tried so hard. Why did it have to end up like this? You had put all of your strength, all of your mind into this plan. This was your once chance and you had fucked it up.
The knife plunged into you again and again and again and it felt like it would never stop. Your throat felt raw from all the screaming. You could feel hot blood flowing from out of your side. You tried so desperately to push the King off of you but he was just too strong and you were too weak. It was fooling of you to ever believe you were strong enough to survive this sadistic game. You should've given up at the start.
Usagi lunged at the King and pried him off of you, screaming terribly. All you could feel was pain. You wondered if that was all you ever knew. The throbbing seemed to spread all around your body and your groans felt never ending. You could feel something pulling you. Sleep. You shut your eyes and let the darkness take you. Now the only thing you could feel was your chest rising and falling shallowly.
Chishiya's POV
"Kuina, it's a massacre. We need to go help them. They're all going to die." Chishiya insisted, voice desperate and tense with urgency.
"If you go, you'll just die to." Kuina consoled quietly, looking down at the concrete roof of the building they were perched atop.
"Kuina, this is the only chance that we have to save them! They're going to die if we don't do anything!"
Kuina shook her head no, a hardened expression on her face as she looked up into the sky. She grabbed Chishiya's hand and started dragging him away from the edge of the roof. They went down the staircase to the bottom of the building. Everything was quiet, the shadow of the metal blimp blocking them from the light as they marched silently through the streets.
There were only a few thoughts spinning around in his head, for once. It felt so empty. He could only think about you, about how you looked so helpless. You couldn't be dead, right? You were strong. Chishiya knew you were strong.
Suddenly, a loud crashing noise came from above, and Kuina and Chishiya both looked up. The blimp was coming crashing down.
Chishiya wasn't going to let you die. He turned on his heel and ran back, determined to save you no matter what.

What about a gn!reader who barely speaks Japanese or/and English and was in japan on vacations or business related matters when the game started? Chishiya somehow is the only one able to communicate with them (by understanding the language and maybe speaking a little bit of it?)
bonus if the reader is taller and a really important asset when winning games because he is badass, and that's the reason why it's so important, Chishiya communicates with them
hope the idea is useful!

gn!reader who barely speaks Japanese x Chishiya
You had expected a lot from your trip to Tokyo but having to play games to the death was definitely not on your list. You had gotten lucky with your first game, someone had been nice enough to translate the rules for you. But of course, fate had to intervene and the friendly person whose name you hadn’t even bothered to ask was killed off.
You entered your second game and internally cursed yourself for not learning more Japanese. You grabbed a phone and gathered enough courage to speak out. "I'm sorry but is there anyone here who speaks English?" Nobody answered. You tried again. "Excusez-moi, est-ce que quelqu'un parle français?" You looked around and got desperate when they all just looked at you with pity and indifference in their eyes. "I speak English" a voice answered from behind you. You turned around and were faced with a handsome guy. "Thank God" you exhaled "I don't speak Japanese, and that basically means I die because I don’t understand the rules” you explained your situation. He nodded, “I’m Chishiya.” “y/n” you replied.
“マスコットに捕まることなく出口までたどり着ければゲームクリアです。”  a voice started talking and you looked at Chishiya. “I know I’m putting a lot of trust into you but what are the rules?” The man smirked “It is Game Clear if the players can reach the exit without getting caught by the mascots. And you can relax it’s a spades game so I’d get nothing out of betraying you.” His words made you loosen up a bit but your body went into fighting mode once the voice started counting down. You examined the venue which was an amusement park, well, you could just call it a park when there wasn’t much amusement left.
The counting ended and everyone started running into the wild. “Let’s look for a map shall we, and maybe some better weapons, ” you said while taking Chishiya’s arm to guide him away from the starting point. You had only made a few steps before screams began to sound. You grabbed his hand and started running towards an info stand. Chishiya was surprised by this and would be lying if he said he didn’t like it.
A whole bunch of maps were scattered on the floor and ducking behind the counter you started to examine them. Tracing his fingers over the map Chishiya spoke up. “This is the fastest way out. But surely there will be mascots on our path.” You grinned “We’ll have to run for our lives then, and maybe give them some hell when we’re at it” you winked at him and pulled out the gun you had procured during your last game. Chishiya’s face couldn’t disguise his surprise and smirked at your confident stance. “Let’s go.”
You ran as fast as your lungs allowed and the adrenaline pumping through you made you run even faster. You weren’t sure if the adrenaline came from the game or the blond holding your hand. You were almost there, the last corner, one last obstacle… You were met with a figure in a tiger mask and a crossbow in your face. You ducked while Chishiya tackled the mascot, holding it to the ground you had the chance to shoot it. Aware of the attention you were drawing you grabbed Chishiya and ran the last few meters to the exit.
Panting like crazy you sank to the floor “Damn, that was close” you muttered. Chishiya agreed with a hum. “You looked up at him “We should do it again sometime.”

________________________________________________________
It was incredibly difficult to sleep at night. My thoughts were in turmoil, still consumed by memories of the game despite my efforts to think of anything else. When I eventually managed to fall asleep, however, my mind got flooded with nightmares.
The events of my last game replayed in front of me like a horror movie, each moment being more gruesome than what actually happened – Everyone I met in the game had died right next to me. All the taser guns had been replaced with real guns, including the one I had in my hands, turning the whole museum into a bloodbath.
My eyes drifted across the room, seeing dead bodies all around the night guard that stood in front of me. I cried as rage filled my body, and I fired against the guard. The shot rang painfully inside my ears, making my head spin before my vision turned black.
A second gunshot echoed, but I hadn’t pulled the trigger again. A third shot finally woke me up with a jolt and I realized these had been real, happening right outside the building; It was yet another common occurrence at the Beach.
My heart pounded heavily in my chest as my eyes came back to focus. It was very early in the morning, and the sun was barely shining through the window. I worried that going back to sleep would trigger nightmares again, so I dragged myself out of bed and left my room.
I wandered through the nearly-empty corridors, focusing on the sound of my own footsteps. The chatter of people around me blended into a meaningless jumble of noises, until a familiar annoying voice suddenly caught my attention – It was Niragi, right around the corner. He was talking to, or more so being scolded by, someone nearby.
A man was reprimanding Niragi for his reckless behavior and for something along the lines of ‘interfering with other executives’ decisions,’ while Niragi mocked his tone after every sentence like a child. When their conversation stopped and heavy footsteps came in my direction, I realized I had been listening in for a bit too long. Shit. I tried to leave, but Niragi called out for me right after I turned my back.
‘Were you just eavesdropping on us?’ His voice came out hoarser than usual, ‘Are you trying to stick your nose in my business again?’
When I turned to face him, my eyes were drawn to the purple bruises on his face and neck. Memories of his fall came to my mind, and I quickly looked away while trying to stop myself from laughing.
‘Oi, don’t you dare ignore me like that-’ he grabbed my shoulder to make me look back at him and scowled upon noticing my smile. ‘What’s so funny, huh?’
‘Just the way you think I give a shit about you.’ I don’t know what came over me at that moment, but the words escaped my mouth before I could stop them. Maybe it was the fact that he looked ridiculous with those bruises, but for some reason, I didn’t feel afraid to speak up.
I knew I had hit a nerve when Niragi's eyes widened at my answer. He lunged forward and pressed me against the wall, tightly gripping his hands on my shoulders. His fingers drifted up my neck in an attempt to choke me, only stopping when his expression suddenly changed.
Niragi looked conflicted for a few seconds before he released his grip and stepped back. He still looked furious, though slightly restrained.
‘I’ll find a way to kill you without alerting the others.’
…It sounded like he said that more to himself than to me…
His words had me confused. Why would Niragi be afraid of anyone finding out if he killed me? He threatened everyone with his gun and even looked like the type to brag about his ‘body count’ as a militant. He glared at me for a moment before storming off, cursing under his breath.
‘It seems you’ve become a lot more bold since yesterday.’
I was slightly startled by Chishiya’s sudden voice. I turned around to see him appearing from behind a pillar and walking towards me.
'Were you just eavesdropping on us?', I mocked the way Niragi had asked me that same question and Chishiya let out a chuckle.
'I had been listening to their conversation long before you showed up. I'll admit, though, seeing you provoke Niragi was quite amusing.'
I felt a little uneasy upon hearing the word ‘provoke’. Niragi had already been pissed enough at me for yesterday, and I certainly just made things worse because I suddenly felt like mocking him.
'It was a bit funny at first, yeah, but now I guess he's going to kill me at the first opportunity he gets.' I shrugged, trying not to sound too nervous about it.
‘Oh, he definitely wants to kill you now,’ his tone sounded a bit amused, ‘But he can’t.’
I gave Chishiya a questioning look. He glanced up before repeating what that man was telling Niragi a few moments ago.
‘ You should know by now that you are not allowed to meddle with the decisions of other executives, is what Kuzuryu said,’ Chishiya fixed his gaze back on me.
‘If an executive takes a keen interest in a Beach member, they will be monitored and assessed for more important duties. Only that executive can authorize any plans made for that person, and other executives can’t harm them without facing the consequences.’
New questions began to sprout in my mind.
‘So the executives can just pick a player they like and decide to be in charge of them like that?’
‘And then they will monitor everything we do?’
‘Who could even be interested in me, anyway?’
I zoned out for a few seconds, pondering over the new questions I had. Chishiya spoke up again, bringing my attention back to him.
‘Are you curious as to who might have taken an interest in you?’
‘Sort of. But it’s the idea of an executive monitoring me so often that makes me uncomfortable. I mean, who wouldn't be?’
‘They are always keeping tabs on us, that's how they find and deal with traitors. Although…’ Chishiya lowered his voice, ‘They seem to have increased their target range.’
His words sent a chill down my spine and I asked what he meant by that.
‘You have also been hearing gunshots outside every night, haven’t you? People are being killed much more often lately, seemingly at random. At this rate, the Beach won’t be safe for long.’
A sense of dread grew in my stomach as I slowly took in everything he said. Ever since I arrived here, I have been hearing gunshots very often regardless of the time of the day, but I assumed it was just the usual frequency.
Hatter's rules were very simple – weird, but simple – and I thought following them was enough to keep me safe. But if they are really killing more than just the 'traitors'...
I fixed my gaze on Chishiya, furrowing my eyebrows.
‘Why are you suddenly telling me all of this?’
A sly smirk formed on Chishiya’s face and he took a few steps closer to me.
‘The executives are hiding something important from us, and I'm going to find out what it is. I believe you can help me with that.’
Oh, hell no . Spying on the most powerful members of the Beach? The ones that have easy access to firearms? Nope. I wasn’t crazy like that.
‘What makes you think I'm going to help you?’
Chishiya’s smirk grew wider as he leaned in closer, intently staring into my eyes.
‘Because you owe me one. And you’re not the kind of person to turn down a debt, are you?’
I tensed up at his words.
Of course, I didn’t think that Chishiya would have helped me simply out of kindness, I already assumed that much. He wanted me to owe him a debt, and now he intended to use it to drag me into something dangerous.
Unfortunately, he was right about me. I hated being bound to someone’s favor, and I couldn’t turn my back on someone who had saved my life. I would feel guilty and ashamed.
‘But how could he have known that?’
I hesitated for a moment, swallowing the knot in my throat before returning his serious stare. If he plans to mess with the executives’ affairs, he must have weighed the risks already, right? Maybe it won’t be too bad.
‘Fine,’ I finally said, ‘I’ll help.’
Chishiya distanced himself from me, looking satisfied with my answer. His tone and expression were now back to his normal smug self.
‘Do you still remember where my room is?’
I nodded.
‘Good. I’ll let you know when I need you, then.’
And with that, he turned his back and left.
----------
Days went by and I couldn't shake off the uneasiness that had settled within me after everything Chishiya said. Despite still hearing the ‘usual’ gunshots every day, everything else felt peaceful – a bit too peaceful, like the calm before the storm.
I crossed paths with Niragi ever so often, receiving death glares every time he noticed me. If Chishiya was right, Niragi wasn't allowed to kill me because someone else was keeping an eye on me – that would have made me feel safer if I at least knew who was watching out for me.
But I didn't know if I could even trust Chishiya in the first place. I hadn't heard anything back from him since our conversation that morning. It made me wonder if he actually meant anything he said, or if he just wanted to tease me after I interrupted his ‘espionage.’
Part of me wished this was the case, and that I wouldn’t have to participate in any dangerous plans, but… Another part still wanted to believe in Chishiya's words, for reasons I couldn't quite understand.
Shit. The more I thought about everything, the more my curiosity grew. I was determined to ask Chishiya about it the next time we met, even if he reveals it was all a lie and ends up laughing at my face. The weight of so many unanswered questions was becoming unbearable.
I was taken out of my trance when Kuina placed a hand on my shoulder. I had been spending some time with her, hoping to occupy my mind with something else, but she still noticed I looked distracted.
‘Hey, is there something wrong?’ she asked with a concerned look on her face.
I glanced at her, thinking of what I could give as an answer. I decided not to mention anything Chishiya told me that day, not wanting to get her involved in any way. Still, it wouldn't feel good to lie to her.
‘Nothing much, it's just… I'm still thinking about my last game.’ I looked down at my feet, ‘I killed someone, and I've had nightmares about it.’
‘Oh, I'm sorry,’ Kuina's expression softened, ‘It must have been tough.’
‘Yeah, it was… But I'm trying to handle it.’
I gave Kuina a reassuring smile, which she reciprocated. We continued to walk and chat for a while before I changed the subject because of a question that wouldn't leave my mind.
‘Hey, Kuina,’ I spoke and she focused her eyes on me, ‘Do you trust Chishiya?’
‘Hmmm…’, Kuina looked up as she was thinking of an answer, ‘Kind of, I guess. He's not the most outgoing person out there, but he's pretty friendly to me…’
The way Kuina finished her sentence sounded like she had more to say. I waited, but she didn't continue what she was saying. Instead, she looked over my shoulder and let out a small chuckle. ‘Speak of the devil.’
I turned over and saw Chishiya standing not too far from us, his hands stuffed inside his pockets as usual. He was looking around the place and stopped the moment our eyes met, the corners of his mouth slightly turning up before he walked over in our direction.
‘Hey there, haven't seen you in a while. I thought you had died inside your room.’ Kuina laughed as she greeted him. I gave him a small wave, to which he responded with a nod.
‘I've been busy with some important stuff,’ Chishiya replied, ‘I still have things to finish, but something else came up.’ Chishiya turned to me, ‘Hatter wants to have a word with us.’
I darted my eyes between both of them, furrowing my eyebrows. Kuina also had a confused look on her face.
‘What does he want with me?’ I asked.
‘I don't know. He only told me to bring you to the meeting room. You need to follow me.’
I had a weird feeling about this. I looked at Kuina, who nodded at me. ‘I'll see you later, then. Good luck,’ she said before she left us.
Chishiya began walking and I followed beside him. We went up the stairs and reached a huge corridor when Chishiya nudged my arm with his elbow. He spoke up, his voice barely above a whisper.
‘I need you to distract Hatter for a moment while we are there.’
I stared at him with a questioning look on my face. There he goes, saying weird and questionable things again.
‘Why? Are you going to knock him out or something?’
Chishiya chuckled at my question.
‘I'm going to set up a bug in the meeting room. I want to know what they discuss during meetings with the other executives.’
So Chishiya was saying the truth about his ‘plan’, after all. And the first task he set me up for was to distract the leader of the Beach, who explicitly had said ‘death to all traitors’ to my face when I first arrived. One suspicious move from me, and I would be dead. Great.
I sighed. ‘Not satisfied with just eavesdropping on them, are you? If they find your bug they will surely come for us, have you considered that?’
‘I have. I know the perfect spot to set up the bug, but you'll have to make for a really good distraction.’
‘Why are you so confident that I'll do the job well? You know, I've never done anything like this. If I make a mistake, we're both dead.’
Chishiya didn't answer, only letting out another chuckle. I rolled my eyes and looked ahead as we approached a big set of doors.
‘I'll give you a sign when I need you to distract him,’ Chishiya whispered once again.
I asked what kind of sign, but he didn't have any time to answer. The doors swung open and Hatter greeted us with a smile, motioning for us to get inside.
It was the same room I was taken to when I first met Hatter. On the back wall, a few more of the drawn cards had been checked out since I last came here. All the windows were covered with thick curtains, blocking any sunlight from coming in, and the place was dimly illuminated by several chandeliers. I spotted some surveillance cameras across the ceiling, feeling even more apprehensive about Chishiya’s plan.
There was a long table at the center, with some people already sitting down around it – Kano Mira was right beside Hatter’s seat, and the girl that was in the Scavenger Hunt game with my group sat on the other side. At the other end of the table, Niragi sat while facing Hatter, his usual gun placed in front of him.
Chishiya and I took the two remaining seats, sitting across from each other. I shifted my eyes over everyone at the table; The girl had her head down and anxiously fidgeted with her fingers, Mira gave me a warm smile as I sat next to her, and Niragi darted furious glares between Chishiya and me.
I fixed my eyes on Chishiya at last, and he shot me a glance with a smirk before we turned our attention to Hatter.
‘Welcome, both of you! We’re all finally here, and I hope you have been doing well,’ Hatter had a big smile on his face as he spoke, which quickly vanished before his next words, ‘Because I sure have not.’ He turned his face to Niragi. I couldn't see his eyes behind his sunglasses, but it was easy to assume he was glaring at him.

smutty ABCs
Author's Notes: Sorry nonny I am not a very good smutty writer (go over to @proseinborderland side of tumblr, she now has the smutty ABC's requests open!)
But, I am sort of good with fluff, so...how about SFW ABC's for Chishiya? I don't know where the original template came from, but if anyone knows please tell me so I can credit them!
Acknowledgements: @proseinborderland because she reviewed this when it was just a tiny baby and let me adopt some of her great writing into some of the headcannons.
~~ Fluff/ SFW ABC's headcannon's for Chishya ~~
A = Affection. How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?
Chishiya's love language is definitely "acts of service". You would never have to ask for anything to be made or taken care of. He would show you that he cares more than he tells you.
If he had a morning shift, you'd wake up with half of the breakfast done and a note "just heat it up."
B = Best friend. What would they be like as a best friend? How would friendship start?
It would start as a competition to out-sass each other. Sarcasm would be your language and he would answer you in kind. If you were ever in an unpleasant mood he would bring you cookies and a cheeky remark about something that would make you roll your eyes. You would never know how he figured out you were sad/angry but he'd know.
Even though his ways of reading you were mysterious, you would slowly begin to understand him. After some time you could read his micro expressions like a book. Small twitches of his eyes, eyebrow raised, and mouth curling begin to translate into language.
C = Cuddles. Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?
Chishiya isn't much of a cuddler. Whenever you're sitting down next to each other he'll relax and place a hand on your leg or an arm around your shoulder. But if you put your head on his legs or his shoulder, he would gently stroke your hair. He'd get as far as giving you a small kiss on the crown of your head.
On the other hand, and even though he doesn't tell you this, he adores it when you wrap your hands around his waist. This is when you gently move his head to your shoulder. He is usually relaxed around you but when he is on the receiving end of cuddling, he silently melts.
D = Domestic, do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?
Chishiya would clean, do the dishes, make the beds even go as far as disappear into the bathroom for a while and clean it top to bottom. However, he wouldn't cook full meals. He can cook anything that is quick. A mid-afternoon snack and breakfast are his favorite meals. Dinner and lunch though? He avoids that like the plague. Even though he is always in the kitchen with you, and he helps with whatever there is to do, you will not catch him in the kitchen cooking dinner by himself.
I think he'd settle down, but definitely not marry. Chishya's childhood put a big stop sign on marriage. He doesn't need a paper to have you as his partner forever. If anything, in his opinion, that would be forcing both of you to settle down and to him forcing anyone to do that is a no.
E = Ending. If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?
"We're done" walks away.
F = Fiance(e), how do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?
He will commit to you, but he will not ask you to marry him. At some point in your relationship he will ask you to move in together and that's when you know you have him for life. He would give you some trinket to wear, something small, probably without much value other than sentimental. A small ring or a pendant for a necklace, nothing flashy, something that he would know you have.
G = Gentle. How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?
Chishiya is a bit emotionally stunted. As much as he tries to be less abrasive with you he will occasionally just blurt anything that comes to his mind about a particular thing you did. It hurts you at first that he can sometimes feel distant, but over time you notice he tries to say what's on his mind more gently.
Physically he is surprisingly gentle. He never grabs you roughly, even if you are fighting. Whenever he touches you, he is never forceful. It surprised you at first how sharp and rough his mind was, yet his fingertips were so soft and gentle with you.
H = Hugs. Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?
He will let you hug him and he will hug you back every time you do it, but he won't initiate a hug. He will place his hands on your hips and touch your foreheads though.
I = I love you. How fast do they say the L-word?
Chishyia shows his love, but he doesn't say it. Whenever you tell him "I love you", he'll reply to you, especially if he knows you need to hear it.
Occasionally, he will say it at the most random times and places. Getting up the stairs to your house? Say it. When you're grocery shopping? Said it. Mid-movie session? Said it. It will always leave you with a surprised expression.
J = Jealousy. How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?
Chishiya is the jealous type, but not to the point of being noticeable or distrusting you. If he notices another person looking at you he will stand slightly closer, or place a hand on your shoulder. Whoever was looking at you though will be on the receiving of a very telling eyebrow raise and tilt of the head.
K = Kisses. What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?
Chishiya is very unfamiliar with physical acts of love, so he is always pleasantly surprised when you kiss him out of the blue. Whenever he leaves for the hospital and you kiss him goodbye he always does a small pause until his brain processes the kiss.
He will kiss you though, quick and soft pecks on the nearest patch of skin he can find. And if he finds a ticklish spot he will kiss you again and you can feel him grin into your skin.
L = Little ones, how are they around children?
"Just no." And walks away. (Comes back with a cat and/or a puppy "that's as far as I go.")
M = Morning. How are mornings spent with them?
He'll either be there or not, depending on if he has to work morning shifts. When he's there, he's just snoring softly next to you, his belly on the mattress, his hair tangled, and one arm securing you to him. Whenever you try to move he squeezes your midsection and turns his head.
Sometimes he'll wake up before you and just sit on the bed reading the news on a tablet waiting for you to wake up too.
N = Night. How are nights spent with them?
Whether Chishiya is tired from the hospital or not, he will find time to do something with you at night. Sometimes it will be watching a movie with a zero effort plot (otherwise you will hear him scoff at every plot hole or dumb decision made). Sometimes he'll ask you to play a board game, but what he really enjoys is just sitting down on the floor with you, hearing the sounds of the city outside without doing anything.
O = Open. When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?
Chishiya will drop some bombs about his youth when you least expect it. You may be doing something mundane and he'll blurt out a memory he has from his childhood, which ultimately makes you understand some of his behavior about certain things.
You once tried getting him to tell you more, but it only made him shrug his shoulders and shut down the conversation. So now, whenever he does drop a bit of info you nonchalantly try to get more from him. Sometimes it works, and although he seems unaffected by some of the things he says, you know it hurts him to remember.
P = Patience. How easily angered are they?
On the outside he seems like the most patient man on the face of the earth, but you can tell when he is about to lose it. It's a twitch of his brow that gives him away.
To you he has the patience of a saint, he'll put up with most of what you ask or say, it's usually other people that are the problem. And depending on who it is, you'll gently squeeze his arm to give him some of your own patience. Or you'll let it be and see how far it takes him to blurt out something obnoxously disapproving.
Q = Quizzes, how much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?
Chishiya will remember everything about you and your habits. For better or worse, he will know something you've only told him in passing once before. At first, it can be a bit creepy how well he remembers every tiny thing. Things you only mentioned briefly to him in passing. It's also sweet because sometimes he will do something because of his attentive memory.
R = Remember, what is their favorite moment in your relationship?
Probably when you called him out for wanting to be with you, but not telling him about it.
In a blink of an eye, after you finished your rant, he had pulled you against him and showed you exactly how much you meant to him. He's not a very frequent kisser, but when he does, he does it well.
He'll remember you both standing at the bus stop with you looking absolutely pissed off at him. This is because he had shown you what/who that date you had last week was doing this week.
"Something bothering you?" He asked.
"You're bothering me." You told him.
"I can leave…" He teased me.
"Stop Shuntaro." You turned to him. "You showed me what you wanted to show me, but you haven't told me why."
"You need to know."
"You needed me to know, but not out of the goodness of your heart Shuntaro! You needed me to know, because you needed me to be available to you whenever you want! You like me! I know it and you know it! But you don't have the balls to tell me yourself! So stop being an asshole and grow some? Tell me you like me, so I can stop going on all of these dates with people who clearly aren't up to my standards."
S = Security. How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?
Chishiya won't be clingy or controlling, but you do know that whenever you two are anywhere, he'll always have a watchful eye on you. If he even thinks you might be uncomfortable with anything, he'll be by your side. If you're not in sight, he will text you and ask if everything is OK. If you ever answer no, he will come for you no matter where you are.
And, even though he won't come out and say it, he thoroughly loves whenever you place a hand in his arm and squeeze. This is just to tell him you are there for him and you will kick someone's ass for him.
T = Try. How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?
Chishiya puts a lot of effort into the relationship. He knows he is not the most bearable or easy person to live with or to have a relationship with. Therefore, he'll try to make you feel appreciated and loved. Even if it's very foreign for him to take you on a romantic date, he'll do it and it will be the most romantic thing you'll ever see.
His gifts, however, are always small, subtle, and have no monetary value. Even though he may have money to spend, he values sentimental trinkets more than anything.
U = Ugly, what would be some bad habits of theirs?
Shutting himself out. Sometimes when a day doesn't work his way or if he's in an unfavorable mood he will shut everything out. It doesn't matter how much you try to make small talk or make him do something, he won't budge no matter what you do. He'll grab his tablet or a book and you won't hear from him until he has figured out whatever he needs to figure out.
To others though, you've seen him be downright cruel with his words, so much so that you gave him a piece of your mind when you two were alone.
V = Vanity. How concerned are they with their looks?
If it's white, gray or black, he'll wear it. Tennis shoes and hoodies are his go-to items, though he also has a very extensive and monochromatic wardrobe.
Now, his hair is another beast. When you met he had his hair bleached to the bone and it looked good on him. However, you noticed when he stopped bleaching it soon after he met you, letting his black hair come through. When you asked him why he did that he just told you he didn't need to be that person anymore, that he was comfortable now to be himself.
W = Whole. Would they feel incomplete without you?
Chishiya wouldn’t feel completely lost without you, but he would feel like something was missing. It's the little things he notices more than having a big hole in his existence.
In the long run, he will realize how cold the sheets are; how the night doesn't sound so relaxing without you. He will pause whenever he enters the house and you're not there sitting on the couch watching something. The fact that he leaves the house without giving you a kiss on the head starts to bother him as time passes by.
X = Xtra, a random headcanon for them.
Chishiya is an observer. He will watch you do stuff and commit it to memory, even if it won't be useful in the future.
He will be cleaning the dishes and looking at you putting them away, burning into his brain how careful you are with the glasses. If he's helping you cook, he will be stirring a pot and leaning against the counter. He will be looking at you cutting the veggies with a focused look on your face. He will remember how you will start to cut them perfectly and then lose your patience and do it faster. He'll watch you as you sip your tea and he will store in his memory how you smiled at the sweet flavor of the warm drink.
Y = Yuck, what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?
Chishiya does not tolerate lies, especially from his partner. Little, insignificant lies don't hold much weight with him, although big lies are deal breakers. Cheating is the hard line he will never forgive. He will tell you that you are more than free to go and leave him for someone else as long as you leave him. He tells you, in a very casual manner, that he is too intelligent not to figure out if there is cheating involved.
Z = Zzz, what is a sleep habit of theirs?
Chishiya doesn't sleep much, but when he does, he enters into a coma.
You know from years of experience that there are only two things that can wake him up, the sound of his alarm going off or direct sunlight to his eyes. Sometimes, you wish he could be the kind of guy that could wake up with your kisses; but no, he will sigh happily and pull you closer, but he will not wake up. Even if you promise him a good time, he still won't budge from his slumber.

Prompt: Drunken Words
Hi, guys! I’ve always wondered how Chishiya would react to drunk people/a drunk reader, so I thought I’d give it a go. I do want to warn you: this one is quite angsty, and gets a bit dark. There are mentions of violence, death, alcohol, self harm/suicidal ideation, strong language, etc. Please use caution if you are sensitive to any of these themes! Hope you guys enjoy, and please do let me know of any requests! I’m wondering if I should do another version of this, but from his perspective? Let me know if that sounds interesting! - S
It wasn’t your intention to get drunk; but then again, it hadn’t been your intention to kill anyone, either. When in Rome, right? It was all survival, anyways. If poisoning your blood with alcohol meant you could go another night without putting a bullet through your skull, then really…it was no different from the bullets you’d lodged into that girl’s body. A life for a life. What was it he’d told you? “To gain something, you need to lose something.”  If you thought about it that way, then alcoholism seemed like a pretty good trade for your sanity.
The taste of the drink was disgustingly sour, and it burned its way through your body as you swallowed with a grimmace. There was a comfort to the pain, though. It was real, and it brought you to the present moment, and it hurt far less than the memory of what you’d done not three hours prior. What had her name been? Hana? Haru? Pathetic. You took another swig, willing yourself to succumb to the fog that was slowly filling your head.
That was the true beauty of alcohol- not the fruity taste, or the pretty colors, or the cute little umbrella that the bartender had added. The beauty was held in the moral ambiguity that it allowed. If you thought long enough about it, you supposed that was probably what drew everyone to the Beach- what drew them to the Borderlands in general. Your mind flashed to Niragi, the Beach’s very own boogeyman. More animal than human, driven on impulse and hormones, every bit of which was allowed in a place like this. The Borderlands suited him well, and you began to wonder if it could maybe suit you, too. Niragi doesn’t feel guilt, you thought. But I’ll be damned if he doesn’t know how to shoot. You threw back another swig to drown out the thought before it could form into a dangerous path.
Before long, your glass was empty, pushed to the side to join the three other glasses you’d collected so far. You could feel the bartender’s eyes flash in your direction, and you didn’t have to look up to know what he was thinking. You were drinking too much, too fast, and too openly. You were making yourself vulnerable, something you’d sworn never to do. In fact, it was something you had ridiculed the rest of the Beach residents for, scoffing at their willingness to let down their guards in a place like this. But that was just the thing-- you didn’t want your guard let down, you wanted it fucking destroyed.
This place might seem like a perpetual nightclub on the outside, but you knew damn well the horrors that lay within. The secrets, the lies, the monsters. This was no safehaven, no utopia, and anyone who treated it as such was a fool. But you were in pain, and the alcohol was supposed to remedy things like pain. Besides- if some monster were to find you like this, defenseless and impaired, would it really be so bad? Your mind wandered to the girl…that damn girl. She had been defenseless. She had been impaired. It didn’t stop you, did it? Caught in a beartrap, pleading for her life, and you’d shot her all the same just so you could go back and drink yourself to death.
“Y/n,” came a voice from behind.
Ah, you thought. So a monster has found me. You turned to face him, finding with a start that it was more difficult to stay balanced in your seat than before. Like a moth to a flame, your eyes found his own- deep and dark, and maddeningly blank. A part of you hated that he’d been the one to find you like this, but the other part of you- a part pulled to the surface by the alcohol, you presumed- soaked up his presence like soil soaking up water after a drought.
“Chishiya,” you replied. Your voice slurred in a way that enraged you. Never before had you felt so foolish, so weak. You braced yourself for the snarky comment he was sure to fire your way. Ever the opportunist, you knew he wouldn’t be able to resist the chance to bathe in arrogance. But the comment never left his mouth, and his eyes never betrayed his thoughts. He was so unlike you- so composed. It made you hate him all the more.
No longer able to look at him, you clumsily spun back around to face the bar. Lifting a hand into the air to wave down the bartender, you nodded toward your ever-growing pile of empty glasses.
“Another,” you said simply. The bartender hesitated, glancing between you and your unwelcome guest. After what you’re sure was a warning glare from Chishiya, the bartender cleared his throat awkwardly before spinning away to tend to the other Beach residents. Annoyed, you rolled your eyes dramatically and let out a huff to blow the hair away from your face.
“It’s rude to cancel another person’s order,” you grumbled, half-sure that he hadn’t been able to hear. Of course, he had.
“No more rude than drinking the bar out of stock,” he retorted with amusement. “Perhaps you never learned to share.” Pulling the chair out from beside you, he took a seat. You were surprised by his decision to stay, knowing full well that this was entirely not his scene. Finding the courage to spare him a glance, you found his eyes darting warily between the intoxicated bodies dancing not too far away. He was out of his element, and you took that as a win. If you had to be drunk and miserable, then the least he could do was be a little uncomfortable.
“I’m fine,” you said suddenly. You weren’t quite sure why you’d said it. You knew he didn’t care, and you were certain that you didn’t care. Perhaps it was simply the thing to say in moments like this, when one is caught like a wounded animal. Drawing his eyes back to your own, Chishiya blinked at you.
“I never said you weren’t.”
He hadn’t. And it wasn’t fair to accuse him as such. But there was something in his eyes- whether you were imagining it, you weren’t quite sure- that almost looked like pity. And he could not pity you. In the short time you’d known the man, there were several things you’d wanted to receive from him- partnership, companionship…hell, maybe even feelings. But never his pity. So you resented his presence regardless.
“Fuck off, Chishiya,” you said darkly. The poison from the alcohol must have kicked in somewhere along the way, because you could have sworn that your words were dipped in venom. But the man had leather for skin, and your words were brushed off within seconds. Instead, he continued to gaze at you with those stupid eyes of his. Those stupid, beautiful eyes.
“It’s time to leave,” he said after a moment. You wanted to hate how gentle his tone was- wanted to accuse him, again, of pitying you. But his words wrapped around your aching heart like a hug, chipping through the ice with their warmth. You pondered for a moment if it was worth it to put up a fight. It was what you wanted to do, after all. You wanted nothing more than to shout at him, cut down his ego and sever whatever this thing was between you for good. It could be easier that way. It could be what you deserved.
But then he held out a hand for you to take, and suddenly it didn’t matter what you wanted, but instead what you needed. He wouldn’t be like the alcohol; he wouldn’t burn you to make you feel, he wouldn’t drown out the memories of that poor girl, and he wouldn’t allow your morals to crumble like Niragi. He didn’t come in fruity flavors, bright colors, or with a cute little umbrella. But he was warm in a way alcohol could never be, and right now, he was the only thing capable of numbing the pain, even just a little. You needed him.
Taking his palm with your own, you let him pull you to your feet. Thankfully, the sky had long grown dark, and the crowd of people dancing around you provided discretion as the two of you weaved your way back into the hotel. You weren’t sure when the tears had started to fall, but if Chishiya had noticed, he had been kind enough not to mention it. You scrubbed at them furiously with your sleeve, desperate to remove their stain before they could be seen. By the time you reached your room, you seemed almost half put-together.
Resting your head against the wall outside of your room, you waited patiently for Chishiya to open the door. He did so silently and with ease before turning back to you and taking your hand once more. It was brief, but for a second he held your eyes with his own. There was no pity there like you had feared before, but something deeper and more understanding. He guided you through the doorway and to your bed, where you collapsed into a ball. Sitting next to you, Chishiya’s hands found their way back to their favorite place in his pockets as he stared ahead quietly at the wall.
“I want you to stay with me,” you whispered into your pillow. By now, the adrenaline had run its course through your body and been replaced with a heavy fatigue. You found yourself struggling to keep your eyes open, but you were determined not to fall asleep just yet. A few moments passed before he responded to you, and you began to wonder if he hadn’t heard.
“I know,” he said finally. Still turned away from you, it was impossible to see the expression on his face. Not that there would ever be much to see. He seemed lost in thought, breathing slowly with his eyes still burning into the wall. You wondered if he was calculating his next decision. Everything seemed like a game of chess to him- no choice could be made without deliberation and intent. You wondered if you’d ever get to see him relaxed, maybe somewhere outside of the Borderlands. You wondered if he ever was relaxed. The thought made you horribly sad, and you craved to have his hand in your own again. Finally, after what seemed like forever, he made his move.
Rising from his position, he paused only for a moment before heading toward your door. You watched through half-lidded eyes as he parted, willing him back with each step he took. I guess he does burn like alcohol, you thought with bitter amusement. Once he reached the door, he paused once more, turning his head slightly. It was not enough for you to be able to see his face, just enough to send the message he was regarding you.
“Sleep on your side,” he said. With that, he opened your door and disappeared into the hallway.
