Something a little different today! The main illustration project I’m working on at the moment is a large gallery show opening next year. I’m going to keep most of the art hush hush for now, but here’s a tiny preview of one of the pieces! There’ll be a collection of spots like this as well as full-bleed pieces. I’ll tell you more about it closer to. Happy Friday, friends! 🌿

forgotten playthings, forgotten child 🧸
Jack from my series Lost & Found Children 🤍🖤
i hope to showcase more of my ocs in 2024 hehe! im FINALLY getting around to finishing art i left to rot in my folders (the pandora hearts drawing last month being one of em). if you saw the WIP of THIS particular drawing 2 yrs ago... no you didn’t 💔
my charas are very personal to me, but tbh ive always been a bit hesitant to share their stories. over time i realized ... it’s kind of a shame to not make art from one’s heart. which is something i regret a lot year after year whenever i make my yearly art summary reflection. i'm like damn i need to make more emotionally evoking pieces!!! so i'm gonna keep going in 2024 with that in mind ❤ i have to admit, although this drawing started 2 years ago, and there's a lot i would do differently if i were to supposedly draw it now - this concept goes pretty hard.
Tumblr media
the final drawing stayed pretty close to the original concept which im so relieved for! i think part of the reason why i left it on the backburner for so long, was the fact that i included so many details, and i was unsure of how to colour the "background". (not to mention stuff like cons & real life getting in the way).
i'm glad for discovering a really handy watercolour brush, it's helped me a lot in my last few drawings, bc i dont have to colour in each detail. especially since the witch hat atelier: eternal ephemera zine piece i did. otherwise if i coloured this back in 2022 with my usual method, i'm pretty sure i really would have included a shading and highlight layer for each individual toy... HAHAHA. much to think about
oh yeah and in the last few days of drawing this i was listening to some visual kei bands. i love how some of the band members literally have been performing since like the 90s or something and DO NOT AGE and are literal vampires. every so often i fall back into visual kei (you can tangentially thank aggretsuko although yes i know it's not the same). and i kind of realized. i like Jack's edgy design so much because he looks like. a visual kei esque vampire.

An Adventure with Seymour the Dinosaur At the Hospital https://a.co/d/8kAxn5t
*FLAPS HANDS AROUND IN A PANIC*
The book I illustrated last year is available to purchase and NOBODY TOLD ME! How can I spread the adorableness that is Seymour if NOBODY TELLS ME?!! Ack!!!
It’s a lovely story about a boy who needs surgery and the adventure he has with Seymour while he’s under anesthesia. From the author’s own experience and becoming a doctor because of it, it’s a tale told to soothe scared adolescent patients.
There are pirates and rock monsters and flying trains! It’s lovely and fun!
Please share if you like!❤️

Hello, beauiful Sky COTL Community!!
Over the past couple of months myself and my beauiful friend @ebi-skycotlbi have been working on a passion project involving a story that takes place in the seven realms of the Sky community. The story is turning out beautifully and we wanted to reach out to see if this is something that peaks our communities interest!
I give the summary :)
Feyra leaned forward his face was tense and serious, illuminated by the soft glow of the fire as he asked, “Why are you trying to find the Forest Elder?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Ari snapped. Her sharp golden eyes narrowed.
“Sometimes things that don’t want to be found will do what they can to not be.”
“If that was the case I would call her a coward,” Ari bared her teeth. “All of the Elders are.”
Feyra jumped up, his ears pinned back in anger, “You have no idea of what you speak of, Golden One.” He seethed.
Ari jumped up but swayed slightly as she did, “I have a hard time understanding that the Forest Elder would just leave her realm to die!”
Being alone is all Ari has ever known. She has spent seasons of her life pouring her love into the Forest Realm, doing her best to stall the darkness that is spreading through her realm while trying to desperately find her Elder. When the weight of the situation burdens her, she is forced to learn to lean on others to help protect what she has always known.
Feyra closely guards a secret that could threaten his life and others around him. He has spent seasons of his life blending in and building his life in Avairy as a merchant. While he tries to forget the past, he guards his heart and his loved ones from the truth. Soon his peace is shattered when Ari falls into his life and the shining truth of the danger that threatens their home shows itself.
In the aftermath of the Shattering, the skykids of the realms were forced to give their winged light as the darkness spread throughout the lands consuming everything in its path. In a desperate miracle, the collected winged light of the faded skykids awoke the Elders of the realms. With that power, the Elders sealed the great city of Eden to stop the rest of the darkness from leaking into their world. Remnants of the darkness remained in the realms even as life was given back to the skykids.
They were left to rebuild their homes and of what was left of their realms. Mourning the loss of their homes and their friends, seasons past and the skykids learned to make homes and communities of what was left for them.
The darkness that remained and lingered soon began to spread after many spread. Disrupting the small peace that had settled over the realms. Others start to take notice as the shards of a great evil spread and threaten to consume their world once again and more concerning the silence of the Elders that had sealed themselves off from their people.
In a story about found family, love, sacrifice, loss, and holding on to the ones you love when all seems lost. Ari and Feyra must learn the truth behind the sinister evil that threatens to take their home and their loved ones. Before it is too late.
“If action is not taken. There will be no home to return to.”
Let us know in the comments below your thoughts and if you would be so kind as to reblog we would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you lovelies!!

Publishers’ Binding Thursday
It’s time for another Publishers’ Binding Thursday post! This week I’m sharing The Happy Prince and Other Tales by famous Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). This edition of this collection of short stories was published in 1913 in New York by G.P. Putnam's Sons. It features art-nouveau-esque illustrations by British book illustrator Charles Robinson (1870-1937), who came from a family of illustrators including his father and brothers. This book is part of our Historical Curriculum Collection of books for children.
The cover features the statue of the titular Happy Prince and the swallow who befriends him in the story (which is quite sad) stamped in gold on purple book cloth. The spine is highly decorative, featuring floral motifs and the title, author, illustrator, and publisher. I find it interesting that the title on the cover is “The Happy Prince and Other Stories” but on the title page it’s “The Happy Prince and Other Tales.” I wonder if there was a miscommunication or change that happened that led to them being different!
