#childe's hands.... holds them
thinking about Childe's hands over the years.
how they clung to your arm when you were children, clad in soft mittens as you and Ajax made your way to his house after school, slipping and sliding over the ice.
that time when you were fishing together and something snagged your line, and you both had to grab the rod and pull as hard as you could to drag the fish from the depths.
when he went missing for three days, the worst days of your life, and returned with scars on his hands and strangely empty eyes- yet they always seemed to brighten in your presence, a soft smile adorning his face.
how he held your own hands so tightly the day before he was shipped off to the Fatui, mumbling about how much he'll miss you, and how he'll write to you every week.
the way his palms and fingertips became even more ladened with scars over the years as he worked to the position of Harbinger, but you would always cover your smile with a hand upon seeing the splatters of ink staining his skin from enthusiastically writing letters to you and his family.
you remember holding his hands one final time, now gloved in fine, elegant fabric as he was sent off to Liyue. he left you with a kiss, dipping down and touching his lips to the back of your hands, promising to return soon with a surprise just for you.
and now it's today, and you gently cradle the claws of a monster in your palms, Ajax huddled close to your body for some semblance of comfort. he's stuck in this form, this Foul Legacy, the normal hunger for battle gone and leaving him empty, but you fill that void with warmth as you massage his wrists and talons with a quiet hum.
he whines, shrinking away from your affection- something as horrible and monstrous as him has no place being near a kind person like you- but you simply lean down and kiss his knuckles, that same loving smile from before on your face, because you never have and never will stop loving him.

The ship dynamic that will always make me absolutely wild beyond any other is:
“If only we had met earlier in life, in simpler times. But then again… would we love each other, if not for the paths we have taken?”
It destroys me every single damn time.

I don't know how much more explicit the message of "THIS IS GROOMING" could have been without Be On Cloud superimposing it in all-caps text over every one of Non and his teacher's scenes. People interpreting that as "cheating" are cracked in the fucking head.

i dont mean this to spark a night vs crow debate but doesnt the ultimate guide state that nightcloud's "bitterness toward Crowfeather tainted Breezepelt with its poison" (directly quoting this). i agree that we shouldnt take crow's word on this bc hes a biased source, but the ultimate guide doesnt have a character pov. what are your thoughts on this? idk if its a retcon since its been forever since ive read the mainline. i like the idea that the two fucked up in their own ways.
Generally inaccurate and sometimes containing information that outright contradicts canon, Field Guides should considered very low in a canon hierarchy.
The same field guide completely fails to mention that Crowfeather wasn't only neglectful to Breezepelt, but actively emotionally abusive to him, and doesn't even MENTION that he suddenly blamed everything on Nightcloud.
So I DO feel justified in saying that the field guides probably did contribute in some way to how absolutely obtuse WC fans can be towards the text.
It just Makes. Shit. Up. These authors have had SHAMEFUL levels of misogynistic bias for YEARS and it's never more apparent than when they're writing bullshit summaries like "Ashfur was soo nice and sweet and only loved too much :(" and "Clear Sky was simply being fierce when he was shoving his son's face in a sloppy wound" and then turning around and saying "actually it was the nearest woman's fault"
I pull from earlier field guides as inspiration, but exclusively treat the "summary" ones as insight to what is bouncing around in the brightly colored Moonjump Castle that is the author's minds.
Like the idea that they're "both fucked up" or not, it doesn't change the fact that what the Erins put on the page was an abusive father who tries to deflect blame to his WIFE for making a bratty son, and then took the abuser's side in supporting material for years.

HE REACHED OUT. IS THE THING. HE REACHED FOR LOVE EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T KNOW THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. IT DIDN'T SAVE ANYONE (except for one person, once, in the beginning. except for those that loved him, and were saved by that love). IT DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING (but it did create everything. the story, the characters, the end of the world, the dream that remains despite it all). IT DIDN'T CHANGE THE ENDING (but for the hands that wrote it. every scar, every callus, every voice that came together and believed that it could turn out differently). BUT THE LOVE WAS THERE, IN THAT STORY, FOR THAT READER, AND IT MATTERED TO HIM, AND HE MATTERED TO THE WORLD.

and like thats one of the reasons i like kingdings so much like. what if Asgore wasn't alone. What if, after all that, there was still someone he was close to who've been there the whole time. Someone who Knew him and saw what he did and continued to be with him. Someone who was there to try and ease the burden. Someone that wanted to protect and care for the king as the king cared for his people. simply thinks about broken old men caring for each other

listen: you as a kitsune meeting Foul Legacy Childe
maybe he's running from the Fatui, unable to change back into his human form, so he takes refuge in Inazuma- many of the islands are mostly uninhabited, so he doesn't have to worry about being seen- or so he thought. one night he goes to sleep, utterly alone, and wakes up to someone carefully poking his horns, a figure with fox ears coming into view as he opens his crystalline eye.
you grin upon seeing the Abyssal creature awake, and stick out your hand to shake with his.
Foul Legacy quickly learns how to put up with you, as you insist on accompanying him as he travels through Inazuma, no matter how hard he tries to scare you off. and maybe it's for the best- you know almost every island significantly better than he does, Narukami especially, and constantly list fun facts and advice that you think might be useful. if you begin to fall behind, Legacy sighs and lifts you onto his shoulder, much to your delight, or if you're in your fox form he simply carries you in his arms.
speaking of which, he loves your little fox self- a soft, fluffy bundle of fur that can fit in the palms of his hands. no matter how old you are, or how many tails you've gained, your fox form remains small and fluffy, and sometimes you'll end up curling up on Legacy's cape to sleep that night, much like a cat with its favorite blanket. you even let him pet your tail in your humanoid form! if you trust him enough, he'll get to see all your tails, which is a high honor indeed for a kitsune.
sorry i just love the thought of big scary Foul Legacy with a tiny little fox friend

holy fuck, this gives the zenin so much more lore than what we got in the manga. like the potential is right there to have this great inter-clan generational dispute and cold war but gege just breezes past it and then gets rid of it completely.
with all this cool new shut we’re getting about them, im almost glad that megumi was born a boy. like could you imagine just how much worse the zenin would have been to him if he was a girl? they already have the whole misogyny thing going for them and then their version of jesus pops up and it turns out that it’s a girl who wields their prized technique?
god, i can’t imagine just how much more controlling they would be towards megs, although im still not sure if the whole training until ur bones fall off would still happen. i feel like naoya would be different towards megs but we also know that the zenin are totally okay with incest so i hate where that would go.
It would have been bad.
See, I think the entire training until your bones fall off thing would still happen, but there would be an added layer of cruelty towards it. Because megumi was a little boy who was being trained in a way that even adults couldn’t have handled, so of course he spent a lot of time getting hit and a lot of time crumpling under the pressure and exhaustion. There are very, very few instances where he remembers actually leaving the training room on his own two feet. He usually was pushed until he collapsed and woke up later in the room they kept for him. But if he was a little girl in the same circumstances? They’d make every “failing” about her sex. They’d blame her being a girl for it and constantly use it as a source of sneering superiority.
It would also be bad because she would very much be seen as a source of descendants. Boy Megumi wouldn’t necessarily be exempt from that, but it would happen sooner for girl Megumi.
Bloodline is very important to the Zenin. Inheriting power, techniques—they want to continue the flow of power through the generations. And most of the Zenin clan (and the wider jujutsu world) believe that Megumi is the most powerful Zenin alive right now, if not Gojo’s equal, and the only reason why hes being graded as a Grade Two sorcerer is because gojo’s purposefully sabotaging his development. Like. Mindset is a huge amount of jujutsu ability. Yuuta went from getting beaten up by normal high schoolers to having some combat ability but needing inumaki to handle a semi grade one to being the second most powerful person alive in the span of a few months. He absolutely blitzed the previous second most powerful person alive when he would have lost that same fight a few hours previous. There’s a lot of people convinced Megumi’s on Gojo’s level but he’s been keeping him on a leash since childhood. But the powers still there in his blood.
That’s power the Zenin want to pass on, regardless of gender. But as a boy, Megumi’s got a little bit more leeway—men are accepted as warriors first in the clan, and age won’t affect his ability to procreate. If megumi was a girl? She’s got that goddamn biological clock ticking down. As the ten shadows, I think the Zenin would still expect her as a warrior, but they’d also have a fucking quota she needs to fill before the clock hits zero. And they’d have some very proprietary concerns about making sure no one outside of the clan has a chance to become involved with her. They’d want her to stay within the clan with her partners. And they’d be absolutely creepy and weird about how they went about it. It’s a little bit of a mercy that Megumi’s a boy.

For a run of the mill cis woman, I get a lot of comments and questions about my womanhood from kids at my job. I had a boy today at the ropes course say to me "You have a deep voice. You sound like an adventure woman." Which not only is the best thing anyone has ever said to me, it is a great reminder to any trans women out there that are insecure about their voice. Keep in mind that you simply sound like an adventure woman.

the post earlier about dad aki🥺!!! dad aki is the type of dad to be real patient with his kids whilst doing homework and teaching them how to read! and omg he wears that baby sling thing when you’re grocery shopping together, you catch him in the corner of your eye pretending to bite your baby’s hand and blowing raspberries and kisses into their palm! and he also has an incredibly soft voice with them 🥺
dad aki you are so precious to me....
he's the most compassionate father, he never raises his voice, he's always patient with his child and tells them how proud he is when they finally figure out something he's been teaching them.
and he's the most prepared dad, he keeps everything he needs for his baby in his car, and that means absolutely everything. his backseat is littered with a strapped-in carseat, extra pairs of clothes, packets of diapers and wipes. he takes the baby sling everywhere with him, but he's also got a basket and a stroller in the trunk. he keeps an extra pacifier in his glove box and never forgets to bring their baby blanket. sometimes, he gets some interesting looks from his coworkers whenever they ask him to give them a ride, just because yeah, he has a ring on his finger, but aki never really struck them as a family sort of man.
and with his coworkers, he's known to speak somewhat coldly, to always maintain a super serious serious sort of tone... that's why it comes as a bit of a shock for anyone to see the way he talks to his baby. his voice instantly gets so much softer, more high-pitched. he's laughing and smiling as he kisses their forehead and squeezes their tiny hands.

Been working on a little project for myself!
Here's Jean at 10!
Jean cuts her hair after an argument with her Godmother. As I was drawing her hair, I realized she kinda...looks like Tweek with black hair. So that's why he's in the corner there!
Dude if I had overalls like that I would be sporting them every chance I got!
