Just some random ahh Raditz doodles. Also some cute and hypothetical stuff. Wasn’t thinking much but I saw a what if scenario while looking at refs for him on Raditz and Goku being taken in by Grampa Gohan and I found it interesting. So here he is kidnapping baby Goku after finding him at Gohan’s place lmao. HE WOULD’VE MADE A GREAT UNCLE IF HE WASN’T SO EVIL.😭
He also would’ve been a great older brother to both Goku AND Chichi. The slice of life fluff they could’ve had!!!😭😭will forever be mad at his death bc there’s no way Goku would not be devastated after killing his only living family left. That and finally having another saiyan he could learn his biology and culture from, heck Gohan could’ve learned so much if Raditz wasn’t such an ass and taught him something while he had him. I half wish Raditz had a different reaction and changed his motives a bit after seeing Goku alive and suddenly having a nephew, he would’ve spoiled him and y’all can’t convince me otherwise. He would’ve treated Chichi like a queen knowing her lineage and the fact that she was carrying the hope of his race surviving. Y’all he would’ve volunteered to babysit Trunks too, even if he only used that time to teach him stuff a baby/toddler shouldn’t be doing, but I digress.

longtime dc fan and i think a lot of people are angry because alex is obviously one of the most culturally relevant instances of misogyny in media. that being said being more culturally relevant doesn’t mean it’s the worst instance of misogyny and i think bumble definitely experiences more profound misogyny in the way the actual content is presented, if that makes sense
I get you, and that's a charitable way of looking at it.
I think what's rustling my jimmies is that like, there was a couple of WC fans being mildly dismissive of Alex in that note minefield, after dozens of comments of "fuck you how could you let the fridge woman lose" and "Bumble didn't deserve to win ANY rounds" and "how could A CAT experience misogyny." But then WE get blamed for the toxicity because THEY were butthurt that the Funny Cat People have the 'audacity' to win something they feel entitled to.
Like, we've gotta be endlessly charitable as we get openly insulted because they're upset about Alex losing, a very well-known and culturally relevant character with a legacy so massive we have a whole term named after her. But condemnations of "She's just a cat, letting WC into this poll was a mistake, Bumble can't even be a victim of misogyny" only started coming around once I started talking about it.
as if it's OUR fault people got passive-aggressive or even OPENLY aggressive towards us, and that we're "just as bad" for retaliating
But like you said, it's not a "Most Culturally Relevant Misogyny" tournament, it's a "Canon Misogyny Victims" tournament. And you're not even supposed to give a shit that Bumble died. The fat, woman abuse victim is beaten to death by a dictator, and your takeaway is meant to be, "It's so sad that Clear Sky is being blamed for murdering her, now they're all preparing for self-defense against a homicidal maniac, oh nooo :("
And I think that DOES make her deserve the win here! Alex is a MARTYR. Everyone with a brain agrees what happens to her is bad. It happened in her canon because it was bad. We talk about her and keep her memory alive. Bumble gets dismissed entirely out of hand because she's "just a cat in a kid's book" as if that doesn't make it worse, and as if the kid's book didn't treat a domestic abuse survivor like a moron for even asking for help.
Anyway, just to reiterate, I love DC fans. It's not all of you guys. Alex was done dirty and deserves justice-- and it's even kind of a shame that all she became is "The Fridge Woman." I haven't even heard people talk about how she was a wary, responsible person who was still ready to rock with Kyle's new weird glowstick powers, or that she was a journalist, or that she just got brought back in another edition as a Green Lantern only to be revealed as an illusion and re-absorbed back into Kyle's mind. Nope. Even her fans just remember her as The Fridge Woman.
#She wasn't even ONLY brought back as a green lantern btw she also came back as....#full disclosure I'm not a DC fan this is from My Best Friend + Wiki Education#...as a cool ass evil zombie black lantern#Only for Kyle to have to put her down like Old Yeller#Because he can't handle her Zomgirl Swag#How cunty of me would it be actually if. IF. Bumble sweeps the whole tournament and I go back and write whole essays for--#how each one of her opponents were worthy adversaries and explain exactly how deep the misogyny of canon went against them#Bones ''King of Women Appreciation'' Fall#Especially Chichi actually. If it had been Alex vs Chichi I would have gone to bat for Chichi.#Chichi was done dirtier than Alex. And also I would go PRETTY hard for my girl Android 18#And ACTUALLY? One of the WORST victims of DB's misogyny? Don't @ me? Gine. Goku's mom#Behold my race of evil monkey space soldiers and how their violent nature has been exploited by a galactic capitalist dictator#Look at how in-depth I go to suggest them overcoming their battle-centric nature and show how in a different context this can be--#--applied for heroic ends#Watch the death of my main character's father and show how his last thought was comforted only by visions of how his son would one day--#overcome the dictator and avenge his death#Only for that to have been subverted because Goku didn't actually give a shit about revenge. Frieza simply threatened his friends.#NEVERMIND!! HIS MOM COULDN'T HAVE BEEN BLOODTHIRSTY BECAUSE SHE'S WOMAN#HOW CAN YOU FEEL BAD FOR THE DEATH OF A WOMAN. A WHOLE PLANET. IF HER HUSBAND DOESN'T LOVE HER AND SHE ISN'T A PERFECT LOVING MOTHER#SHUT UP SHUT UP. GINE KILL THIS MAN#10000 GUNS IN GINE'S HANDS#ouuugh and her husband saved her sooo many times on their expeditions because she sucks and thats why they fell in love :) PERISH. DIE#BAD TORIYAMA. BAD.#JAIL FOR TORIYAMA 10000 YEARS#And Saiyans apparently didn't even really develop romantic bonds between mates but nuuuuh#Gotta have these two be a perfect husbandwife pair with their little nuclear family#Anyway. Aromantic Vegeta with Bulma as QPR partner and coparent be upon ye#stop teasing me by retconning romantic feelings into ur aromantic alien species to ship them im a shaking chihuahua.#also ur all lucky we're not going to be facing Sakura in the next round guys#Sakura is my fucking white whale

🐉 Next Time On South Park Z 🐉
The couple of all time 💝
Here it is, the true (super belated) Valentine’s Day picture. Yet another cringe crossover absolutely nobody asked for yet I deliver because I can. Apologies if I’ve been posting way too much South Park stuff, it’s yet another franchise that I’m currently unhealthily hyper-fixated on. Enjoy some more Randy and Sharon appreciation art from me, because these two dorks are just everything to me <3
This was also made as a small tribute to Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball after I found out that he passed away earlier this month on March 1st. Even though I’m a casual fan of the series, still makes me sad that he’s no longer and that we lost another anime/manga legend.
This whole art became a thing based on a phone call between me and one of my older brothers. We were just talking about random dumb stuff and he jokingly asked me to draw Cartman as Naruto and Kyle as Saskue (which is an art project that y’all know damn well I’ll be drawing in the future so look out for that lmao). I just started laughing to myself, but then I thought to myself, “What other anime could I cross over with South Park?” then Dragon Ball popped up in my head all of a sudden, and that’s how this cringefest came to be.
I can kinda see some connections with it, tbh. Both Goku and Randy are dumbass but funny as hell dads (they also have black hair), and both Chichi and Sharon are no-nonsense moms who are often exasperated by their hubbies’ idiotic actions, but do love them deep down and have shared some wholesome cute moments together with them. Both series also feature a lot of fighting and deaths too lol
And since it is the year of the dragon, this pic is pretty fitting :>
I thought I would take forever with this picture because a. I’m total garbage at drawing realistic-ish, non-animal guy characters, and b. I don’t draw side-view faces that much, but surprisingly it wasn’t too hard. I did get kinda lazy with the lower half of Randy’s body and didn’t draw it, but besides that, the whole art was pretty easy. Minus drawing the hands. Because Jesus tap dancing Christ, the hands took me lightyears to get right 🙃
All in all, this might be one of my favorite 2024 pieces of art I’ve drawn so far. Again, these two are special to me, and I finally got the chance to cross over some of my favorite things, cartoons and anime. Maybe I might draw Stan and Wendy as Gohan and Videl in the future as a little follow-up ^^
Also, the mental image of Randy going Super Saiyan is just the funniest shit to me, istg someone needs to make fanart, an animation, or some other sort of meme of that 💀
That’s all that I have for now. Hope you guys have a great day or night, and make sure to stay safe out there.
Farewell, Toriyama. May your memory and legacy live on 😇

More Chi-Chi Appreciation
It's so nice seeing more objective talks about Goku and Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi was an absolute queen who deserved the world. Goku is lucky to have such a dedicated wife. I would have moved on the second time he died!
While I wish Gohan's powers were developed a bit more after his epic defeat of Cell, I am happy that he got to settle down and that Pan and Videl did not have to suffer the way he did growing up. Chi-Chi must be so proud of her firstborn :).

Anon rebelde.
Dear (returning) Anon Rebelde,
(I am translating the above paragraph I wrote myself in Spanish as a courtesy to this valued guest, just so you know - across the street. This is also NOT something you ought to have a say in, on MY page) Your last submission has annoyed many people across the street, who apparently complained about our dialogue being impossible to follow. However, I am sure our wonderful shipper sisters have no trouble understanding the traffic of this stage, which I am also told is very much appreciated.
For all the others, I will use pictograms 🙄:
👮‍♀️Translation of Anon Rebelde's question follows. Fasten your seatbelts ❗
'If you are going to tattle on someone, or if you are going to report or discuss what they write, read the relevant post for yourself' Maybe someone should tell Block Letters Lady, BLL for short, to also practice what she preaches, because her reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired, and also to be careful with all those sock accounts that applaud her so much, maybe there's a Trojan horse among them. Not a traitor, speaking: just a warner. And by the way, the red Nestlé box and the black aviation box make a very good couple 😉
👮‍♀️Translation of Anon Rebelde's submission has now ended. You may safely proceed to the next level ❗
I am aware of the Baby Jesus' Belly Button Feast in there, too. That is strictly their problem, Anon Rebelde, but it's still hilarious to watch them pretend to be friends with each other, etc. I think all of this is very childish, but again, querida - we do things a bit differently, in here, and that is something that is not going to change. The red box was probably not Nestlé, but if you find it more fun, so be it.
And you are right, Red Box and Black Box like each other a lot, since Day 1, when Black Box welcomed Red Box like long lost family and immediately trusted her. Something Red Box was not expecting, so she was very moved & happy about it. Black Box + Red Box = Friends♾️, who root hard for each other, help each other and share a lot of things in DMs, too 😱.
(Remember: if you are not Julius Caesar or Marilyn Monroe, illeism is such a chichi rhetorical trick. And even if you are Julius Caesar - De Bello Gallico is such an obnoxious thing to translate, you wouldn't believe it.)
People are both a blessing and a curse, in this Strange Wasteland. I have met some of the kindest souls and some of the strangest twisted minds ever, in here. It really is mindboggling, yet by far the best side of this experience.
As for the Trojan Horse, well.... I don't get what you mean, but I trust their spies will.
May I risk a Miss Cleo prediction and foresee another salvo of Anons who'd throw the door open, enter in a frenzy, step on Bebe's tail, put their feet on the table and show me how pressure is properly done?
Let them.
I'd rather have you, Anon Rebelde. Doors can be slammed, too.

241- “Entourage”
Beginning / Previously /Next
((The Sims Unleashed Soundtrack - MAXIS))
Special thanks to @storiesbyjes2g for allowing the handsome Angelo Parrish to be traded to DSV! 😉
For easier reading, please see transcript below the cut:
Izzy: Hello Loves!
Devon: Hey Babes! I see I’m no longer the only blonde!
Izzy: Just confirming that you do really have more fun!
Uchechi: *whispering* Izzy?
Walker: *giggles* Izzy.
Obie: Guys, I’d like you to meet Wally’s brother and sister-in-law, Julian, and Uchechi. Fam, these are our friends Izzy and Matteo.
Matteo: A pleasure, to be sure!
Izzy: Welcome! Glad you could join us!
Julian: We appreciate the invite! This is quite the shindig you’ve set up!
Izzy: Me?! Oh no! Matty, Dirk and I helped pad the guest list a little, but this is all Penny’s doing. Apparently her nepo baby boss screwed up and called Penn to the rescue.
Matteo: They’re lucky we were aiming for a quiet evening this year.
Walker: Where is she?
Matteo: She was just here before you came… Ah! Over there with Kareem.
Uchechi: McCain?
Julian: Please excuse my wife while she fangirls. *everyone laughs*
Penny: When did you folks get here?
Devon: About 5, 10 minutes?
Penny: Again Wawa, I’ll be raiding your closet.
Walker: You’re wearing Sentate but wanna raid my closet? *the three of them laugh*
Devon: You got a good crowd.
Penny: Right? I could kill my boss for dumping this in my lap so last minute. Especially on a holiday weekend! I’m in marketing, not miracles.
Devon: You may have missed your calling…
Penny: Bite your tongue! *the three of them laugh*
Walker: Well, we appreciate the invite. Jules and Chichi especially.
Penny: I’m thrilled you all could make it. I swear to gnomes, Ezra owes me!
Devon: Who?
Penny: *sigh* It’s a long ass story… The CEO’s nephew. He—
Dirk: Ay y’all! This is my boy, Angelo! Just moved from Brindleton. Angie, you know Dev and the Misters. These are my friends Obie, Walker, Julian, Uchechi & Penny, the architect of this event.
Angelo: *nods in greeting* Nice to meet you all. Thank you for the invitation. I –
Kareem: No need for a speech! *Angelo chuckles in surprise*
Devon: As grown as these men are, they become such kids when they get together.
Penny: It’s kinda sweet…

First Impressions
A newly Linked Warriors meets Wolfie for the first time.
Link watched the two other heroes as they bustled around the fire preparing the night's supper. The one in the blue tunic with longer hair was stirring a pot full of something, and the taller one that reminded him of Young Link was chopping vegetables. Link had offered to help after building the fire, but Blue Tunic had waved him off, saying that he should rest after having time-traveled earlier that day.
Link appreciated it. He thought he had been doing a good job hiding it, but being torn from his home time like the war was starting all over again and meeting what was apparently two other incarnations of the Hero's Spirit was a lot for one day, and he just wanted to lay back and plan for the next day.
A rustling in the bushes at the edge of camp brought him out of his stupor. Blue Tunic and Old Link turned to see what it was, drawing swords in tandem with him. The leaves parted to reveal a giant grey wolf, and the other two Links relaxed at the sight.
"You can out down your sword," Said Blue Tunic, "It's just Wolfie. I sent him out to find some game for the stew before you arrived."
Link hesitantly sheathed his sword as the wolf padded over to the cooking hero, a fur-covered lump held in its powerful jaws. "Who's a good boy?"
Cook Link had taken the dead animal and handed it to Old Link and was now scratching behind the wolf's ears as it sat, tail wagging and a contented look on its face. Link hesitantly reached over to pet "Wolfie's" coarse fur, some of the tension draining from his body. He had seen some strange things during the War of Eras, but a tame wolf was up there with the strangest.
Before his hand could touch the wolf, it turned and glared at him with piercing blue eyes that promised pain if he so much as ruffled its head. Cook Link had stopped petting Wolfie and was glaring with equal intensity. Link pulled back his hand.
"Okay, sheesh! Don't touch Wolfie, it's sensitive, got it. No need to eviscerate me in my sleep."
Cook Link raised an eyebrow. "Wolfie is a he, not an it. Maybe keep your hands to yourself until you get to know each other better."
Link nodded. "Will do. Pleasure to meet you, Mister Wolfie."
Old Link chuckled from where he was dressing the game. "I think Wolfie had better stay in the woods for now, so he doesn't... scare off any more heroes that might show up."
Wolfie chuffed and disappeared back into the bushes. Could he understand them? It must have been one smart wolf. Ultimately it seemed like Old Link was right, because right after Wolfie left a fourth Link stumbled into camp, covered in leaves and wearing a wolf pelt.
Interesting coincidence, thought Link.

Hi lovely! I recently got into cdramas and have fallen in love with Word of Honor. I have read your meta post on the original novel and would greatly appreciate it if you were to provide me with the link to the tyk novel if you have it.
Hey there! Sure thing. There are several translations around, but sadly one of the best ones seems to have been deleted/locked, so here's my current recommendation:
Start w/ chapters 1-29 from lianzi (their tl is the best of the ones currently around)
Read chapters 30-77 from chichi (technically they have a full tl of the main text, but i prefer lianzi's)
Finish with 5 extras from kexingzishu (chichi also has some extras tl'ed, but! kexingzishu's doc has the 5th extra thats not translated anywhere else!)
Additionally: TYK is actually the second book in a series, with the first being Qi Ye / Lord Seventh. Translation of Qi Ye can be found here. The protagonist of this one is Jing Beiyuan, while Zhou Zishu is a prominent side character. Now uh whether to start with Qi Ye, esp coming from watching the show...
Basically, starting w/ Qi Ye: pros: you will actually know the correct backstory for TYK Zhou Zishu and not expect the beats from the show that will never come (eg 81 dead sect members); you will have a coherent picture of thematic framework of both novels together; you'll be able to appreciate the cameos in TYK fully. cons: i have seen show-first people run out of Qi Ye screaming that their poor little meow meow would never over the first atrocity Zhou Zishu commits; it's more political drama than wuxia, so if you prefer the latter, it can be a bit boring.
starting with TYK: pros: a little less heavy, or at least slightly more comedic, than Qi Ye - so an easier read; Zhou Zishu is more chill due to being retired, so you can slowly get used to his amoral villain-of-another-story ways instead of being slapped in the face with that one plot point; the best character (Wen Kexing) is there. cons: everything you saw in the show will actively hinder your understanding of the characters and themes; you will have to contend with Zhou Zishu's lying ass unreliable narration; you will miss some implications, esp of the scenes with Jing Beiyuan.
So uh, this is all I can tell you. Up to you where to start!

im just realizing what you've been saying all along
You guys are all saying the same thing from different perspectives and with different words sometimes,I used to think of them as contradictions but now that I "know" I can see that you were just struggling to put it into words, cause god you can not!!
Only reminders can be expressed, not the truth
Truth can only be known,I mean there's nothing to know either but you what I mean:))
Ada said it,Sophie said it,mystic said it,Bry said it,you did,Kelly did,Chen and ko and chichi and everyone else in here
Nothing is but i
Why would you care about nothing or put this part of nothing above that part of nothing
If you're nothing and nothing is all there is then
Aren't you basically everything there is?🤔
It's just words and it really needs direct experience where it all clicks, where something even happens(seemingly)and you dare to watch it disappear cause there's nothing to do
Is it even happening?or it seems so?
I don't know how to express my joy and freedom
I'm free
I am:)))
Thank you guys
All of you
You did a great job and it will always be appreciated 🥺🫂
Love you so much❤️
Oh my god. I'm so happy for you my love😭
I seriously feel so overwhelmed rn, I'm so happy you got to experience this freedom. And yes, you are free. Always have been. I'm so proud of you!❤ and I'm so happy I was able to help you in any way🥺
@eternallyilluminated @lains-reality @iamthat-iam @infiniteko , let me just tag them here so they can read this too, I'm sure they'll be beyond the moon too. Like me.

Wrong Timeline Trunks!
Tumblr media
For some reason I managed to draw this entire mini comic at midnight oop. Rip my sleep bc I work tmr. Anyways. This is my Future!Chichi AU with a dash of my dead!Chichi AU.🤭 Trunks didn’t set the coordinates right and landed them in the wrong timeline. They still decide to stop by to restock supplies and Chichi goes out to hydrate. I have a whole fic for this (the future timeline with chichi and trunks and mai) and it even has a dash of GokuBlack! POV.(ref back to my past arts about Goku Black and Chichi.). This is also a reference to my previous art of Chichi dying of the heart virus instead of Goku, so it’s basically a world without Chichi or Goten.
Goku and Chichi panic at seeing each other overall bc they think they are imagining things, Chichi has trauma from Goku Black and Goku fully accepted her death and that he’d never see her again but this interaction really throws them in for a loop. Poor baby Gohan is trying to understand what’s going on and Trunks arrives a second too late and now they have to explain themselves oop.
Man I rly gotta finish writing this fic lmao🗿💀👩🏽‍🦯✍🏽

Hey hey hey hey hey heeeyyyy can I request a baby reader with toman reader is takemichis baby brother and he left them with the Mizo mid crew and toman was just walking round ynow occasionally beating someones ass and they saw the Mizo mid crew and they were like "hey that's takemitchy's friends lez go bother them" and when they were approaching em they hear them panicking and lil pocket michi crying and yamagishi who suspiciously had cheese had slapped on the baby? (Totally didn't do that to Alex the chomper😬)
Tumblr media
Hey hey hey hey!
I sure can!
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
"Oh god takemichi is gonna kill us!" Akkun said panicked as little (name) sobbed uncontrollably, a slice of processed cheese stuck on his forehead as Yamagashi struggled not to bust out laughing.
"Miiimiii!" (Name) wailed out unaware that he has caught the attention of Toman who was just coming over to bother Takemichis friends but instead found Michi-chibi loosing his absolute shit while under the care of his big brothers fiends.
"Who the fuck threw cheese at (name)?!" Chifuyu seethed as he freed the baby from his cheese prison and lifted him up "Chichi?" (Name) asked sadly as he clung to the blond "are you guys seriously throwing cheese at a toddler?" Mitsuya said incredulously as the Toman gang glared down at the Mizo mid crew "where is Mitchy anyways?"
"He had an appointment and couldn't take (name) with him so he had us watch (name)"
"Without Hina?"
"Hey! We can totally watch him"
"You literally threw cheese at his face" Draken countered with a raised eyebrow as (name) snuggled into Chifuyus neck, tiny hands clinging to his shirt.
"It was an accident!"
(Name) had calmed down by now and huffed at his so called babysitters "Chichi... Can I say no-no word?"
"You know what bud? You earned it this time!"
Beaming at the other with that Hanagaki smile he turned towards his sitters "Asshowls!" He yelled out and the teens grew silent as they looked at little (name) before busting out laughing.
"Jesus fuck! That was the cutest shit ever!" Baji cackled out as Smiley pinched little (name)s chubby cheek while chuckling.
Eventually they calmed down and (name) recieved an apology and promised not to tell Takemichi about today in exchange for ice cream
The Mizo mid felt awkward as they hung with Toman, little (name) wearing a pair of sunglasses Angry had on his shirt, the glasses far to big as they hung out the rest of the day having fun.

"You really are like a child!"
"But at least I’m your child!"
Chichi walked slowly along the narrow sidewalk, putting foot in front of foot in a straight line, while Changbin held her hand. Between concerts in Tokyo, Chichi found time (and got permission) to travel to Kawasaki, the city that was truly home to her (at least the "physical" one). Although it wasn't where she spent her childhood and teenage years, it was nevertheless where she began to live - she was free and independent, cut off from her parents and her past. It was here that she learned everything she knows about dance, and it was here that she watched her first Stray Kids videos. Who would have thought then that she would end up as one of them? Life really is one big unknown.
And of course she wasn't alone here now. She was with a security worker, who was walking a few meters behind her, and with Changbin. She can't even justify why she asked him to travel together. She simply felt one evening that Kawasaki was a place she wanted to show him. Why shouldn't she give the most important person in her life a tour of the most important place in her life? She had prepared herself for a long time to ask him about it. She didn't know why, it just seemed so important and somewhat intimate to take him here that deep down she was afraid he would refuse her. But that didn't happen - Changbin was genuinely happy that she offered it to him, which only solidified her decision. And now here they are, together, and Ichi felt her heart overflowing with happiness and peace impossible to describe.
Time, their social status, the acquaintances they had, the schedule... Nothing seemed to matter. They are in another city, just the two of them, enjoying the shy rays of the sun. They were not here as CHICHI and Changbin from Stray Kids, but as Park Ichi and Seo Changbin. This gave a truly amazing comfort and bliss that Chichi didn't even know she needed. The two even turned off their phones to get the most out of these moments together. For the photos, Chichi took a polaroid with her.
With a slow walk, the two reached the water, where several ducks were lazily lounging on the grass. Ichi was prepared for it - she took duck food out of her bag and poured some into Changbin's hand.
"I understand why you love this city so much." He spoke up, feeding the duck closest to him. "I like it here."
"I'm glad." Ichi replied immediately, feeling a sincere smile appear on her face.
Knowing that someone appreciated something that was so important to her was truly invaluable.
"You must meet my family someday." He spoke up suddenly, already surrounded by a much larger group of ducks. "They've already met the rest of the members, you haven't had the chance."
Chichi almost spilled food out of her hand hearing these words. It was nothing, and for some reason it sounded... serious. But she is just overinterpreting it after all, she needs to calm down. Exactly why does she overinterpret and overthink everything so much? Everything... related to Changbin. She swallowed her saliva quietly. Quick, answer something before he thinks you thought something strange!
"Actually yeah, we didn't have the opportunity." Wow, that was something. Oh, shut up.
Changbin sent her a brief, warm smile and returned his gaze to the ducks. Chichi stood a short distance away from him, feeding the animals blindly, gazing at her companion. The bright early spring sun reflected off the surface of the water, which was now glistening, as was Changbin's hair. A gentle breeze played with his bangs in the same affectionate way it played with grass or leaves. His face, today without makeup, looked beautiful. It was not without minor imperfections, which actually made Ichi realize from time to time that he was a human being just like her, not a sculpture created by an Italian artist. The dark coat he had opted for today lay perfectly on his muscular shoulders making being between them sounding like the fulfillment of her fondest dream. How was this even possible? He was an incredibly beautiful person, with the most sincere smile Ichi had ever seen, and he was just as incredibly talented. His voice, both when he rapped and when he sang, the intense focus evident on his face every time he was creating...
However, there wouldn't be enough days for Ichi to fully comment on his character. He was well-mannered, caring, genuinely funny and sometimes chaotic and loud... Some see the last thing as a flaw, but for Chichi it's just another thing making her feel safe around him. When she finds herself stressed on the backstage, but hears his loud voice laughing about something, she immediately feels better. She then feels the warmth slowly spread inside her assuring her that everything will be fine. Because how can it not be when Changbin is next to her?
She loved Bang Chan as their leader, a responsible friend and an incredibly good person. She loved Minho for being her mean brother. She loved Hyunjin for being her soulmate and inspiration. She loved Han, her partner in getting into trouble. She loved Felix, her sunshine and greatest support. She loved Seungmin the most wonderful companion she could ever ask for. She loved Jeongin for his similar sense of humor, the understanding he always showed, and the infinite care he gave her.
But Changbin... she just loved him. She always wanted to be close to him, she won't count the moments when she wanted to grab his hand and just feel his closeness. She won't count the dreams that were dedicated to him. She won't count the number of times her heart sped up at the sight of him. She won't count the moments when she caught herself thinking about him and searching for him with her eyes when she hadn't seen him for too long. She won't count the moments she thought about him in stores when she saw something she thought he would like. She won't count the number of times she came to the gym after her finished workout and when she met him there she pretended that today was only the first time she had come here so she could stay and exercise with him.
She always felt more confident when he was next to her. She always did better when he was next to her. She always wanted and did more when he was next to her... With him, she felt that her demons of the past had finally gone to sleep. He was to her what a night light is to a child afraid of the dark. He was her light, her hope, her future....
The way he always calmed her down with her panic attacks, the way he always made sure she was eating and sleeping as she should, the way he looked at her while recording in the studio, the way he hugged her when she needed a tight hug, which was due to overstimulation...
She loved him, but she wouldn't die for him. It was for him that she finally wanted to live.
Ichi dropped the rest of the duck food on the ground and covered her lips with hand, hastily lowering her head. She felt her pupils begin to tremble and heart began to beat with an irregular rhythm. Her cheeks became as warm as a hot stove.
She was in love… She was in love with Seo Changbin...

Appreciating the KnY Noh Production: Part 3 of 3
Humans are demons, demons are humans. Weave their eternal feelings, and dance.
Or... the continuing story of a fangirl with lingering attachments to the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba, finally having found some peace after having watched the Noh/Kyogen adaptation and writing up her thoughts about it.
This entry assumes you have read Part 1 (the overview of Noh elements and the background of this production), and Part 2 (my reactions and thoughts about each scene in Act 1). In this entry, we wrap up with my thoughts and feelings on Act 2, with the following scenes:
~Surprise! It's Muzan! Part 2, the Heian Noble Monologue~ Kyogen (Interlude 2): Kasugaigarasu (featuring a couple of talking crows and a sparrow)
Zatsu-Noh: Kimi ga Tame (featuring Zenitsu and Inosuke... sort of)
Kiri-Noh: Rui (featuring... yeah, obvious)
~Surprise! It's Muzan! Part 3~
~Surprise! It's Muzan! Part 2, the Heian Noble Monologue~
I hope it's clear that this is my own name for that scene, as it was not included in the original first version of the script. Or rather, it was, but it was placed within Rui's story, concluding with Rui receiving Muzan's blood.
As this is Muzan's more full and complete monologue (with Mansai-sama of course masterfully owning the stage with his perfectly Muzan-like presence), he enters and exits from the hashigakari bridgeway, like he's slowly passing between worlds, a different time. He comes to us here dressed as a noble of the Heian era in which he was born, to, in full Noh style of narrating one's own backstory, tell us about how he was sickly, his interactions with the doctor, how he changed, and how he cannot go under the sun. There was no instruments or chorus, only Muzan.
We get drawn into his obsession with looking for the blue spider lily. This gets drawn out in the elegant script expressions for how long he searched. As a modern touch, red lights highlighted the stage from the left, and blue highlighted it from the front, framing Muzan in an otherwise dark world.
What really gets me about this monologue is the parts when Muzan drops the chant style of speech, and in more plain spoken language states, "I want to live. I want to live. I don't want to die."
He did this two more times, including upon his slow exit, both times with increasing intensity. We get the full impression that this man is obsessed, transformed into more of a monster not by the medicine, but by that desire.
Kyogen (Interlude 2): Kasugaigarasu
Since comical Kyogen bits often feature animal characters, it seems doing a Kasugai-garasu scene was an easy choice from the start.
My gosh, it was hilarious. And to me, the Bird Fic writer, extremely gratifying. Our characterizations of the birds had some differences, but were generally similar enough that felt like Kinoshita (the scripter) and I think alike.
I wouldn't had written the birds having a drinking party together, but that was very Kyogen style and it took them from complaining about their jobs to dancing and making references to--or-parodies of--traditional songs or legends about crows and sparrows, or even their own names (I learned something new: Ukogi is a five-leaf plant, which seems to have medicinal use. However, as the little sparrow pointed out, Ukogi has thorns!!)
This scene started out very slowly, with a bit between Ukogi (aka Chuntaro) and Dongurimaru (Inosuke's crow). Pretty sure this was added to buy time for Matsuemon's costume change, as Matsuemon was played by, you guessed it, Mansai-sama. The two birds were slowly flapping around to different parts of the stage, with Dongurimaru cawing and Ukogi adding "Chun, chun!" in a quick way that almost sounds more like "chichi." After repeating this a while, Dongurimaru finally turns around and flips out on Ukogi, saying, "Would you knock that off!? I'm not your dad!!!" (Chichi = father) Ukogi is insulted that Dongurimaru would take him for such a fool, and then Matsuemon enters the scene and they all talk to each other with phrases like "Matsuemon-dono" as honorifics for each other and finishing their sentences with "gozaru" (which takes some familiarity with Japanese to appreciate, or at least familiarity with anime characters like Himura Kenshin).
They decided to drink up while the boys were in recovery (there is a prop house with the wisteria crest on it in the background, this same house will be used for multiple purposes throughout the rest of the production). Matsuemon complains that there's no end to their work, as soon as there's a demon to the east, it's "caw, caw, southeast!" and then there's a demon to the west, and it's "caw, caw, southwest!" and he can't catch a break.
Ukogi butts in that at least Matsuemon can use human speech, Ukogi is jealous! He is limited to "chun, chun!" and even worse, Zenitsu won't even call him by his name, it's "hey, Chuntaro!" or "see here, Chuntaro!" all the time and it's so frustrating!
And then Dongurimaru says, "you don't have it so bad." Most of the audience laughs because they already know.
Dongurimaru goes on to recount how Inosuke doesn't even understand the role of a Kasugai-garasu and many times he has tried to eat him. This scene goes on with more crow and sparrow jokes and dancing until they decide it's time to call the boys in to work.
Although I didn't find any pictures online of the crows and their moving beaks (they looked like they belonged in "The Dark Crystal"), you can appreciate Chuntaro here, or be unnerved by how this sparrow has taken a dive into the Uncanny Valley.
Zatsu-Noh: Kimi ga Tame
So... of all the scenes... this one seems to have departed most from the original version of the script Kinoshita wrote. Zenitsu and Inosuke are funny, but neither spoke nearly as many lines as their birdy counterparts did.
Zenitsu, being a total Kyogen character with his chant-delivery style of "ee-hee-hee, ha-ha-ha, hoo-hoo-hoo!" as he skips around the stage (much to Ukogi's consternation), pauses to flirt with girls in the audience. As this was the Kyoto staging of the performance, he made some quick local references like asking if they'd like to take a walk with him down the Kamogawa riverside. He was the character who felt the most like his usual self as we know him in every iteration and adaptation.
Inosuke fit in some "Pig Assaults" to set the scene, and I like the straws on the back of his costume to harken back to the original silhouette, but the Noh-size boar mask was small, which made it funny. When he reappears later, he no longer has the mask on.
Tanjiro, the ever serious shite role, comes and speaks even line dramatically in Noh delivery style, and the contrast was either intentionally or unintentionally funny.

(Source and interview with Ohtsuki)
They leave the scene rather comically and rhythmically repeating the lines, "let's go (or something like that, I forgot)," "pig assault, pig assault!" and "wait up, wait up, wait up, wait up!" in a perfectly whiny Zenitsu voice.
After this, we see the little spiders, which I tried to capture in this sketch, and I loved them because their faces looked just like how Gotouge drew them, and their creepy scampering and jumping around the stage with the loudly whispered, "gasa-gasa-gasa-gasa." Zenitsu wanders into the hashigakari bridgeway and encounters them. He's scared stiff by the sound and has been bitten, but then the other actors have laid their hands all over him, and there's this wonderful moment of awkward silence before he screams and falls asleep. Then, with an added strobe effect, we get a nice "Thunderclap and Flash" to start the Zenitsu bat----wait, what? He said "Six Fold" already? The baby spiders fall away, Zenitsu wakes up confused, then then he wanders off to go keep looking for his friend. We never see Zenitsu again are left to assume he turned into a spider, I guess?
Inosuke later makes a reappearance with Tanjiro so that he can face off against Daddy Spider on the hashigakari while Tanjiro faces Mommy Spider on the main stage, and Inosuke is later rescued by Giyuu on Giyuu's final appearance, but more about those big spiders later.
I assume a lot of this got cut down in the interest of time, because it's completely different from the first draft of Kinoshita's script. Taking advantage of the onomatopoeic aspects of the Noh tradition, he has Zenitsu come out and monologue about sounds, in a way similar to how he described his abilities after falling out of the Drum Demon house, but expanded upon poetically. This wraps up with him repeating the sound of the sleeping breath of his comrades, implying that this takes places during their recovery. Kinoshita made sure to the use the line, "a sound so kind it makes you want to cry."
Speaking of sounds, this is around the time Inosuke butts in to say how sounds remind him of the drum sound of that demon that they just fought, and in Noh narrative fashion of what has already happened style, he tells the story of the demon they just fought. As part of this, we get an interesting take on Inosuke's discovery of his "howa howa" soft and fluffy feelings he gets while he's around his friends.
Instead of "howa howa," multiple times, he quotes lines from a poem by Fujiwara Yoshitaka, "Kimi ga tame, oshikarazarishi inochi sae." It's a romantically inclined poem about how your life feels worthless compared to that of the one you love, but rather, your feelings for someone you care about make you want to live longer so you can spend more time with them. Kinoshita argues that this poem can be applied to any kind of platonic relationship that inspires one to live on, too.
Also, it's the poem that the old man read from the "Hyakunin Isshu" collection of poems while Inosuke was a baby strange forest creature sitting on his knee.
And, that is where Kinoshita took the original title of this segment, "Kimi ga Tame" ("Because of you.")
It's........ frustrating that this didn't make it's way into the final version, because that's beautiful. Also, we missed out on the chorus saying "Pig Assault, Pig Assault." In his notes, Kinoshita also explained the background of the drum demon and how he would have loved to have told Kyogai's story on stage (I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?!?!?!), and how he wished he could had included Rengoku-san and elsewhere tried include a reference to Rengoku-san with a "set your heart ablaze" line. It wasn't meant to be.
Kiri-Noh: Rui
And now for the big finish, who likewise served as the big finish for the second musical stage play, and for the first season of the anime. Fighting Rui is kind of a big deal, both for how Tanjiro first uses Hinokami Kagura, and for how it's such a statement of Tanjiro's values.
And hell yeah, it was excellent content for Noh.
It helps that there is already a past history of Noh dramas about demon hunters (specifically Minamoto no Raiko) fighting "Tsuchigumo," giant ground spiders. They employed similar practical effects as in those performances, just modernized a little.
Speaking of practical Noh effects, Daddy Spider and Mommy Spider were great. As Rui is first doing his whole "this is the role everybody in the family thing," we see two faint silhouettes inside the house prop. As Rui points to them and says, "You're Father, you're Mother," we see the figure put on white masks, and that was so, so good.
And then they got even better when we saw them come out on the main stage. Mommy Spider was a typical Noh-style ghastly looking character, but Daddy Spider, wow! They made the mask look very much like his face in the manga, especially with how it's a bit unnaturally wide. Since Noh masks are a little on the small side, it gave him similar proportions to his giant body, especially since the wild hair of the wig made him look much bigger. Truly a great stage presence, using lines about leaving his family in peace. (Kinoshita wanted to use these lines to show how demons have their own rich interior lives which get interrupted when demon slayer come and attack.)
My favorite thing about Daddy Spider, though, was that he carried my favorite Noh prop, a little demon mallet. It's a long stick with little knob at the end, like a very long hishaku (ladle used the tea ceremony). It is so not threatening of a weapon and I've always found it adorable.
Anyway, Inosuke and Tanjiro fight concurrently, but then once Rui steps in to confront Tanjiro, Inosuke and Daddy Spider fade away to the side until it's time to set the stage later for Giyuu's entrance. Because Tanjiro and Nezuko were portrayed by the same actor, Nezuko remains in the box for the entirety of this scene, and Rui instead senses there's a demon in the box, Tanjiro says it's his sister whom he has real bonds with, Rui's like, cool, give her to me, and Tanjiro is like, no, and then Rui starts throwing strings at him, Noh style.
Tumblr media
(Source and interview with Ohtsuki)
This battle goes on, Noh style, until it looks like Tanjiro is almost defeated, but then as he's kneeling and looking like he's done for, Mansai-sama--that is, Tanjuro--comes rushing down the hashigakari to tell him to use Hinokami Kagura. There aren't particularly special effects on this strike like on the Water Wheel against the Hand Demon in Act 1, but the blocking placed Rui so that his head could hide in part of the house prop, while from behind the house prop a fake head was lifted high.
So anyway, Rui puts himself back together, and Inosuke and Daddy Spider have reappeared in the hashigakari bridgeway just in time for Giyuu to swiftly pass them by (saving Inosuke in the process, who then goes off to ponder poetry, I guess), and he just as swiftly beheads Rui before going off to sit in the waki's part of the stage to simply sit and be an observer. He does not appear to observe any of Rui's end-of-life reflections, though.
Rui, crumbling in death and filled with regrets, stumbles around the stage, and then behind the house prop. And I, who had been anticipating Rui's enlightened walk down the hashigakari, am like, "no!!!! That's not where he's supposed to exit from!!!!" as if I know a thing or two about Noh instead of watching it in person for the first time.
But!!!!
Then Rui reappeared, with a costume change! He's got a black wig, a human mask, and overall more childlike appearance!
And!!! Who are that masked human man and woman, slowly coming down the hashigakari??? Why, it's Rui's parents!!! (Of course played the same actors as Daddy Spider and Mommy Spider.) Tanjiro has been very, very, very, slowly standing back up and having the string attached to him removed by a stagehand, and then since Giyuu doesn't seem to care about the waki role if it's it a demon other than Nezuko, it's a good thing we've got a shite like Tanjiro around to stand and watch sympathetically as Rui slowly walks over to the hashigakari.
And I tell you, it was so satisfying to see how the movements of his parents speed up the moment Rui is within reach, and the tenderness and firmness with which they take him by both arms, and then slowly lead him down the rest of the way. Rui, performed by Living National Treasure, expresses in his movements all his shock and gratitude and sadness and happiness.
This, this is is the kind of transformation that happens in Noh, and this is the kind of transformation that needs a witness like Tanjiro to take it all in.
"Humans are demons, demons are humans," says Tanjiro. "The sadness of humans," adds Rui, "the futility of demons."
Kinoshita has the chorus close things out with how the Demon Slayer Corp goes on fighting these battles in the darkness, and he adds one more subtle reference--he uses the poetic phrase "ikuseisou" (幾星霜, literally "many stars (and) frost") to refer to "many months and years." This is because it was used in the title of the final chapter of Kimetsu no Yaiba, and later used again as the title of Gotouge's artbook. Kinoshita felt that this reflects one of the main messages of KnY; like how Tanjiro's descendants live in a blissfully happy world with not even a shadow of the threat of demons, we in real life are the same; we are here and live as well as we do thanks to the many, many sacrifices of those who came before us.
~Surprise! It's Muzan! Part 3~
Mansai-sama is back again in the Michael Jackson look! As almost everyone else has left the stage, Tanjiro is still lingering there on the near side of the hashigakari, and Muzan is on the main stage as most of the remaining lights are on him. He looks straight into the audience as he announces Rui is dead.
And I'm thinking, "oh no, if he's telling us this, we're the Lower Moons."
But Muzan-sama is in a better mood than in the manga, and he skips the slaughter to go straight to the promise he made with a certain Lower Moon. Kill the boy with the earrings like hanafuda cards, and he'll grant you lots of his powerful blood.
And Tanjiro is staring off as thought riding the back of a train before they both exit.
Everything is quiet, no one is sure if they're supposed to clap, or if we're waiting for the actors to come out. So the audience starts clapping anyway. We keep clapping.
The actors never come. The announcement comes on that the performance is over and it's time to go home.
What a jarring way to end a theater production, with no final bow. Jarring in a good way, I felt.
So anyway. That was an experience. Speaking of Noh, you know who is canonically a fan? Rengoku-san! And going by the audio drama, so were his parents. Here's some analysis of what was supposedly Ruka's favorite Noh play, "Hagoromo."
Rengoku-san is also a fan of Kabuki, and although there hasn't been a Kabuki staging of KnY (yet???), there was a Kabuki crossover event.
If you're interested in this particular KnY Noh/Kyogen, here's the official homepage, the official Twitter, and a nice English language article about it.
Now if you excuse me, I guess it's time I go wander off the hashigakari or something.
