Hey! I know you said you’re busy lately but something came to mind and I do hope that you do have the time to answer this. I am very much curious about Venus’ past as you mention in one of your post that she was one of and I quote “Draxum's earlier "failed" experiments, stolen from her family by one of his ex partners known as The Dragon Lord who later becomes Drago lordMeister”. Any chance you can explain more about it when you have the time? Cause I am coming up with more headcannons that will be happy to share.
Sure I'll be happy to give a little more information. I'll try and keep this short as well 😅
For some background, Drago was a notorious crime Lord in both the yokai and human realm. Involved in a bad turf war, he sought help from draxum and in return Drax could ask for any favors he desired. Since Drago was very skilled at pulling heists Draxum used that to his advantage in bringing in animals from the human world for his upcoming experiments. The dragon lord wasn't the only pawn in Draxum's plan, he was also taking advantage of young human going by the name of "John" at the time for his Scientific knowledge and skill in genetics who also has an interest in experimental mutations. He's also Described to be very controlling, cold, manipulative and someone who likes to play god.
One night John had made a breakthrough with the mutagen by adding his DNA to the mix and was eager to test it out specifically on a kappa yokai because of the mystical abilities they possess. In theory this would allow the mutagen mixture to fully function and successfully change the desired creature to one of his own versions of a "perfect soldier". He knew Drax wouldn't approve of experimenting on his own kind so without notice John met up with Drago, lied in saying Drax had assigned him the task of bringing in a kappa egg that supposedly no longer had a living creature in it and was abandoned in the lower part of the underground city where the aquatic yokai reside.
Since this was the last favor he would ever have to do for Drax, Without further questioning he proceeded to retrieve what was asked, Upon his arrival he noticed the egg feeling warm, as if it did have a growing life in it, unable to confirm it on time John had snatched the egg from him, running off towards the lab and begin his experimentation before anyone could stop him. Concerned for the egg and Regretting his choices Drago went to find Drax to let him know of what had occurred. Both barged in the lab to stop John but they were too late, the little egg that was once a beautiful teal color now a black charred mess covered in needles with a horrible stench coming of it appeared to have no signs of life anymore. Drago dropped to his knees and could not believe the atrocity he became apart of.
After the chaos that followed, Draxum disposed of the egg and banned John for his insubordination from ever coming to the yokai world also cutting ties with Drago, no longer feeling the need for him as well. Drago walked home that night reflecting on his life choices when he heard a faint cry coming from a dumpster nearby. Looked inside the garbage and To his shock the egg that he thought was destroyed in the lab had hatched, a scared little kappa yokai with the facial appearance of a terrapin and long black hair looked back at him with teary eyes, shivering from the cold night. He gently picks her up to hold her close, trying to keep her warm, breaking down moments later for causing such pain to a child. He Promised to change his ways that night and never let anything happen to her again.
Hope this answers the question! I may have drifted off a little...enjoy!

A Heart Of Iron Chapter 13
Tumblr media
Chapter below cut
TONY
Tony woke to the sound of screaming and the smell of burnt pancakes.
"Don't just stand there, Quill, do something! Groot, stop laughing!" Rocket shouted, "Quill, I thought you said you knew how to make pancakes!"
"In my defense, I was 8 the last time I was here! It's not like I was a professional chef or anything!" Quill protested loudly.
Tony heard a slap and Gamora saying that "There are people sleeping, Quill!", and the voices got quieter after that. Tony grumbled and rolled over in his bed, putting a pillow on his head to block out the light, but after a few minutes of not being able to fall asleep, he gave up and asked JARVIS for the time.
"It is currently 7:42am on Thursday, June 21. Would you like me to play your playlist titled 'Tony's Get The Fuck Up Playlist'?" JARVIS responded.
Not remembering what playlist that was, and too tired to care, Tony said, "Go ahead." JARVIS started blasting AC/DC's Back in Black at full volume, and Tony shot up in his bed. Deciding that he was officially awake, he got out of bed and into his wheelchair and rolled into the common area. When he got there, he froze. The frying pan was on fire, the sprinklers were on, the tip of the raccoon's tail was charred black, and the pancake batter was spilled all over the kitchen.
"What the fuck is going on here?" he asked, voice filled with confused horror.
"Quill was showing us how to make this food that you have on Earth called 'pancakes'," Rocket said, munching on a small packet of-
"Wait, why are you eating my blueberries?" Tony said accusingly.
"Groot gave them to me!" Rocket said quickly.
"I am Groot!" Groot laughed.
Quill laughed, and then went back to trying to put out the fire. Just then, Dum-E rolled in and sprayed everyone with his fire extinguisher. Once the fire was put out and everyone was sufficiently covered in the white foam, he beeped happily and looked toward Tony, who rolled his eyes in exasperation.
"Really, Dum-E?" Tony said, annoyed.
"What is this white foam? Ooh, is it food?" Drax said, bringing a scoop of the stuff to his mouth.
Quill quickly slapped it out of his hand. "Don't eat it, you idiot! It's poisonous!"
Gamora turned on Tony, eyes blazing with fury. "Why did your robot just spray us with poison?"
"It's not meant to kill you! It's meant to put out fires! Killing people's just an unfortunate side-effect," Tony explained quickly.
Just then, Loki came into the room, still half-asleep.
“What in the world is going on here?" Loki said, voice rough with sleep, and Tony felt his face heat up a bit at the sound of it.
“Idiots. That’s what happened," Tony said tiredly, and Groot let out a scandalized noise.
"What? What did they say?" Quill said worriedly.
"I am Groot!" Groot said, upset.
"Hey!" Rocket said angrily.
Before a fight could break out, a banging sound came from the roof, followed by a muffled "Ow" and Clint falling out of the vents and onto one of the beanbags in the common room.
Natasha came running down the stairs after hearing the commotion, stopping when she saw the scene before her. She immediately broke into laughter before calling for Steve, Thor, and Bruce to come down and see what happened. When they did, they immediately burst out laughing as well, and their laughter made the Guardians see the humor of the situation and they started laughing as well.
Eventually, they got the kitchen cleaned up and Steve promised to show the Guardians "what real pancakes looked like". While Steve was making the pancakes, Clint showed Quill how to play Mario Kart, and for someone who had been away from Earth for 24 years, he was really good at it. He even managed to beat Clint twice, to which Clint had declared that he had to have cheated.
Once the pancakes were ready, Steve called them all to eat. The Guardians and Clint all opted to eat in the common room so that Quill could continue playing Mario Kart, and Natasha, Bruce, Loki, Thor, Tony, and Steve all ate in the dining room, talking about what they were going to do about the aliens that were now living in the tower.
Suddenly, Bruce looked at his phone and let out a string of curse words.
"Tony?" he asked.
"Yes?" Tony responded hesitantly.
"Do you remember Project S?" Bruce said, and now Tony was really confused.
"The one with the genetically-enhanced spiders?" Tony said, bemused, "Yeah, what about it?"
"One of the spiders got out. It bit a kid who was on a tour of the facility, and now he's sticking to everything," Bruce explained worriedly.
"Shit. Have you contacted his parents?" Tony asks, starting to freak out, "Do we even know who his parents are?"
"Yep. Remember Richard and Mary Parker?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah?" Tony said hesitantly, feeling guilty just thinking about the young couple that had died in a lab explosion at one of his facilities.
"He's their son, Peter. He lives with his aunt and uncle, and we informed them, but they're unable to pick him up right now, and we can't exactly send him back to school," Bruce said.
"Great. Where is the kid now?" Tony said, already feeling protective of this kid whose life he had already messed up enough.
"They're moving him here now. He should be downstairs in about 5 minutes," Bruce said.
"Shit. Okay, guys, we need to make him feel welcome. Steve, you make some more pancakes, Bruce and Loki, you find that Lego Death Star we have somewhere - ten-year-olds like Legos, right? - and you guys," he said, pointing at the Guardians, "Um, I guess you guys go upstairs for a bit? We don't need to freak the kid out by him seeing a talking not-raccoon and living tree. I'm gonna go and greet him."
Tony went upstairs and changed into actual clothes, namely a science pun shirt and a pair of jeans. After he was changed, he went to the elevator and went downstairs to greet the kid.

GOTG Holiday Extravaganza: Halloween
Drax and Rocket love this Halloween thing Quill keeps on about. Mantis...not so much.
Something was watching her, Mantis tore her gaze away from the intriguing purple light of the Benetar’s many corridors and turned instead to the dark corners, tucked away from the main hallways. The ship was so large compared to Ego’s tiny transports. It was still awkward moving about the ship, always bumping into things or happening upon someone who’d rather be left alone.
“Nebula?”
Mantis stepped closer towards the adjacent stairwell leading to the cargo bay, peering down into the depths. Not even her annenate were enough to illuminate the place.
“Hello?”
Something hissed up from the blackness. Tall and...were those… red glowing eyes. Mantis stomach clenched in fright, stepping backward.
“Drax, if this is one of your jokes it is not funny!” The stairwell remained motionless of course, the pitch black of it descending downward. The hissing began again, this time closer, snarling, more angry. The hairs on her neck rose in apprehension, heart thumping fast.
“Who...who is it?!” She couldn’t stop the whimper from her voice. Whatever was down there gurgled and hissed once more, closer this time. She peered downward, trying to makeout the last step through the fathomless black. Her heart raced in dread. It’s okay...it is okay…it’s just the…
“AAAAAHHHHHRRRRGGG!”
Mantis shrieked, flinging herself backward against the wall and clinging to it, legs shaking, pinching her eyes closed.  Yet through her fright...she could sense it... amusement, laughter. She opened her eyes with hesitation then frowned. The puppy and Drax. Shame instantly welled in her gut, tears pressing against her eyes.
“That’s not funny!”
Drax howled in laughter, clutching his sides while the puppy chittered atop his shoulders, the two of them had wrapped a black drape around themselves. The puppy’s red eyes no longer glowed in the darkness but were brimming with tears of laughter.
“Really? Cuz from where I’m standing it was pretty funny!” He cackled, hopping down from Drax’s shoulders.
Nebula’s foot falls echoed down the hall, gaze iron-clad as ever. Drax and the puppy’s laughter fizzled and died as she neared.
“What’s going on?” The cyborg woman glared at daggers at the two trickers, who at least had the sense to look away.
“It was only a joke,” the puppy defended lamely.
“If you scare Mantis again, I will kill you.” The woman reached the knife at her belt.
“Hey, hey, hey!” Peter swept in, running down the hall. “How many times do I gotta say it? No one is killing anyone on my ship!”
Nebula huffed, but dropped her hand.
“They frightened Mantis,” she growled. Peter redirected his scowl to the puppy and the Destroyer. The empath glanced appreciatively at Nebula, and didn’t not miss that ever so subtle smile she returned. It dispelled the fear in her heart.
“Guys, Halloween is about fun scary!”
“How can one be fun while one is scared?” Drax demanded.
The human sighed exasperated, “we don’t want to make Mantis cry. That’s a bad kind of scary. We want to make people laugh and maybe scream a little for fun, but not a real scream.”
“All screams are real,” Drax retorted, clearly skeptical.  Nebula only scowled, muttering something about “stupid Terran traditions,” but Peter let it slide easily enough, tossing Mantis an apologetic glance that she appreciated.
“Peter,” Gamora poked her head into the hall. “Your mumkin seeds...they’re burning.”
“It’s pump...neve rmind,” the empath followed with curiosity as he dashed towards the kitchen area, towards a burning smell. “Shit!” He exclaimed, yanking a tray from the oven. Little burny seeds scattered about, now slightly charred on the tray.
“Our lanterns are not even lighting this kitchen properly,” Drax folded his arms with confusion, nodding towards the so called “Jack-O-Lantern’s” Peter insisted they carve. Drax’s has been nearly stabbed to oblivion, held together loosely by strands of tough orange skin. Gamora had carved mesmerizing swirls into hers, which Mantis herself tried to replicate, adding stars and moons and planets. Nebula had admired it, that was the highest praise of all. Groot was somewhat disturbed by the whole notion, crying until Rocket had consoled him. The puppy’s own pumpkin was faring no better than Drax’s with several rounds of Ewan plasma bullets fired into it. It now glowed an odd blue color. Nebula had stuck several knives into her pumpkin at various angles. Peter had tried to carve some odd spaceship into his gord. He said it was from the movie Back to the Future?
“They don’t taste that bad,” Gamora assured him between bites of the seeds, crunching them with some effort.
“These are repulsive,” Nebula spat out the pits onto the floor. Mantis suppressed a giggle.
“You guys, we haven’t even gotten to the best part of Halloween!” Peter shoved a handful of pumpkin seeds into his mouth.
“There’s more? The puppy bemoaned. “You already made us watch that movie with the kids in the cabin and the guy with the weird mask. Still don’t get why he didn’t just use a blaster.”
“And your atrocious decorations,” Nebula swung her cybernetic hand at the fake bat hanging from the ceiling.
“We have to dress up!”
“But Quill, we are already dressed….”
“No man, in costumes! You dress up as someone or something else! For fun!”
Gamora and Nebula exchanged bewildered glances, whilst the puppy and Drax continued to eat the seeds. It took Quill another hour before Mantis and the rest of them got a vague idea of what they were supposed to do.
Mantis scrounged around for something, per Quill’s suggestion for something to fashion into a halo. Some white garments for wings, an angel costume he called it. She skipped back to the main kitchen room excited to see what the others had found in the hour Quill had given them to make costumes.
---
They convened back in the kitchen. Gamora was dressed as a Trekonic warrior, evident by the red cape. Groot had simple grown many black colored flowers from his limbs. Peter was dressed in an odd half-shirt that he insisted was called a vest, someone named Marty McFly. The puppy had dressed himself as a space pirate what with a bandana, and small dagger Gamora had leant him, (more a sword by his stature).
“Drax...what even is your costume?”
“He’s Kevin Bacon!” Mantis squealed happily, it had been her idea after all. He sported a pair of Quill’s jeans and a white tank top. The man had made them all watch Footloose enough time to memorize the attire.
Peter shook his head, a grin spreading across his face, he shook his head.
“Well damn man, I thought you’d be more of a terminator than Kevin Bacon!”
They blinked, blankly before Peter shrugged it off.
“Can we dive into that candy now or you just gonna lecture us on this Kevin guy?!” The puppy growled.
“Alright, alright!” Quill took the canister off the table, dumping the contents out before them. Mantis laughed giddy, diving into the pit. Filling themselves with enough candy to last multiple lifetimes, Mantis finally slipped back down the hall. Feeling the feelings of others was a blessing, and a curse. With so much energy bombarding her she made to get away for a little while back down the scary corridor.
The empath stopped short, Nebula. The woman hadn’t joined in with the others but she was dressed up. She was much the same as usual, but she’d embellished the metal in her head with light turquoise paint, her lips matching. She’d colored her lips too, the same color. She had replaced her utilitarian suit with a long purple skirt and black boots.
“Nebula! You look so pretty!”
The woman’s eyes widened for a moment, surprise, flattered, sheepish. Mantis grinned but she knew better than to touch the woman.
“Th...thank you.”
Mantis waited for Nebula to continue, wringing her hands nervously. It was clear the cyborg was not one for talking but at least she was taking part in the holiday. It was nice to see her having some semblance of fun. She deserved it.
“Mantis!”
The empath halted in her steps, glancing over her shoulder. Nebula shifted awkwardly.
“If they ever try to scare you again. Tell me. I...I got you.”
Mantis antenna glowed with light, mirroring the bouncing in her heart. Whatever emotion it was, it was scary. But not...the bad kinda scary Mantis supposed, watching a subtle smile creep across Nebula’s face. Maybe this was the good kind of scary and maybe Halloween wasn’t so bad after all.

Endgame Fix-It Fic
THERE ARE HUGE ENDGAME SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT, BEWARE!!!
Hope this helps. This is now cannon for me. Thank you.
Pain. What a simple word. Four letters, not even a second to say it out loud. And yet, these four letters could mean so much. He'd thought he knew what pain was. Fair assumption, for someone like him, right? After all, there weren't many people that could say they knew what getting their heart ripped out while they were awake felt like. Lucky him, he knew; even luckier, he knew, because it had happened multiple times. He'd known all sorts of pain throughout his life. The aches and bruises after he'd been too much of a smartass, according to his father – and god, what a fucking irony this was! The dull headache that came after a night spent drinking to forget. The broken bones, open wounds, near-death experiences that being Iron Man enticed. The devastating pain of losing a loved one. Of watching him disintegrate, right in front of his eyes, and being unable to do anything about it. Yeah, he'd thought he knew pain. Like an old friend, maybe; like something he was still afraid of, but knew he could deal with. God, what an idiot he'd been.
What he'd known wasn't pain. It was mere prickles, small slaps on his skin, compared to this. His entire body burned, like he was being lit on fire, his right arm turning red, then black, right in front of his eyes. His knees buckled and he screamed, rage, pain, despair, everything mixed into one inhuman yell. He wanted this to stop; god, make it stop. But the moment stretched, seconds turning into interminable hours, his body convulsing from sobs and pain, unthinkable pain, his knees buckling, sending him face-down into the dusty floor. He could barely see anymore; just flashes of light, a shadow moving far away. So he closed his eyes. Whispered in a broken voice "three thousand times, ladybug". Pictured his daughter. Sweet, funny, adorable, smart Morgan. This hurt more than anything. The thought of leaving her behind, of only having had five perfect, but so short, years with her. He'd been looking forward to so many things with her. Watching stars, getting her to ride a pony like she'd begged for weeks, watching her grow, watching her smile, watching her talk, watching her learn, watching her love, watching her happy. Hearing "hi daddy! " every morning and never, ever getting tired of it. Saying I love you, and thinking it, unconditionally, with his whole being. Knowing his life finally made some sense. A tear made its way down his face, leaving a clear path through blood, dirt, sweat. No. Please, no. Please. No.
And then, just as he was thinking his final goodbyes, just as the brightness of his daughter's smile, the tenderness of Pepper's eyes, the pride Rhodey felt, all flashed in front of his eyes, in an endless moment of pain, sadness and happiness, then, there was a hand grasping his. The fire spread through his body and he could feel the stones' power moving from him to whoever was there, spreading, the pain going from unbearable to simply extreme. Suddenly, it felt like he could breathe again, and he did just so, taking a breath that sounded more like a gasp, jerking on the floor. Turning his head, slowly, oh, so slowly, to see who was there. Pepper. No, he tried to say, but his voice had left him, and he just mouthed the word. Could do nothing but watch as Pepper nodded next to him, and he could almost picture her smiling, that small sad thing she did when she knew there was no other choice. NO, he yelled, internally, but couldn't do anything. No, no, no, please, please, take me, but not her. Not her. Not her, he thought as Pepper slid to her knees, her body jerking, lit up with a billion sparkles.
And then Rhodey was there. His hand in his charred, burned black one, a bright flare of pain that he ignored because – Rhodey. This was a nightmare. This wasn't how it was supposed to be, goddamit. Let him die, let him go, just him. Not his family. He tried, weakly, to take his hands out of theirs, but their grip was unyielding, like it's always been. We're here, Tony, it said, without needing any word. We're here and we chose to be.
A shadow, just in front of him. He looked up, recognised the red and blue. Don't do that, kid. Please, don't. I just got you back. But he was so powerless – once again, all he could do was watch as Peter kneeled next to Rhodey, grasped the colonel's hand, and gasped as the power flew through him, instantly lighting up his suit, a bright flare of colours that could have been artistic in any other circumstances.
Next to him, Pepper gasped, and he closed his fingers tight on hers, tried to summon the power back to him, to save her, but instead, it spread even more. Flew to Nebula, who was watching him, her gaze so reminiscent of the intense one she had when they were playing their stupid game, when she was watching over him as he slept and waited to die. How ironic. Sparks flew over her metal body, and her eyes closed as she fell down, never once letting go of Pepper's hand, never once faltering or hesitating.
Shadow after shadow, their little circle grew. Rocket raced up to them, stopped for a second, and then slid over next to Nebula, just as Groot was joining him. Both of them kneeled, braced for impact.
The pain had abated – still there, still burning, boiling his blood, turning his bones to burning wood – and he watched in wonder as still more people joined them. Quill. Gamora. Drax. Thor joined the Guardians, his beard and hair flowing majestically as he braced for the power to hit him, Stormbreaker lighting up like a bright flare of lightning at his feet. Clint ran up to them, let his quiver fall next to him, looked up at the sky, mouthed for you, and grasped Thor's hand. Then Bruce was there, looking majestic and scary when the power of the stones flew through him, bathing his skin in a green light.
Steve came running up, his face bloody and bruised, but still the same determination in his eyes. Bucky was just there, right there behind him, and despite the history between him and Tony, there was not a second of doubt as he took Steve's hand and waited for Sam to join them, his vibranium arm sending sparks everywhere. Scott was suddenly appearing, shrinking from his superhuman size, and Strange was right behind him, looking Tony into the eyes and raising just one finger. One possibility. One. The sorcerer's smile was so gentle, tears started spilling out again.
T'Challa was there too, holding Okoye's hand tight, not protesting when Shuri joined them. Valkyrie slid off her winged horse, a smile on her face.
Then Carol was there, scarily powerful, and she kneeled right in front of Tony, smiled to him so brightly that Tony had to close his eyes again. Her hands were on his bloody face, and he felt unbelievable heat go through him as her fingers linked behind his neck. She was whispering, words that Tony couldn't and wouldn't make out, but he felt his whole body start to tingle, and could feel his friends – his family – reacting to it all around him. Light surrounded them all, unbearably bright, and he closed his eyes tight, braced for impact, for whatever was about to happen. The battle kept going on all around them, yet everything was so silent, frozen still, as if the world was waiting to see which side the balance would tilt on. A flash of lightning and thunder shook the earth all around them, and Tony instinctively tucked his head towards his chest to protect himself. And then he waited. Waited. Opened his eyes. Turned his head. Saw Pepper watching him, the helmet off.
Hope. Four letters. Hope. So many possibilities.

Post Infinity War Fic/Massive Spoiler
Those Who Mourn
In the immediate aftermath of the battle, the Avengers, the Guardians and the Wakandans – or what’s left of them, can do little more than mourn everything and everyone they’d lost. Steve Rogers and Thor are not exempt from the realities of war and loss, but it doesn’t mean it ever becomes easier.
(a03)
Steve is in mourning.
They all are.
The entire nation mourns.
The Wakandans mourn their beloved king and their friends and families that were killed in battle – Steve can hear the melancholic sounds of their grieved chanting from outside the window. Rocket the Raccoon mourns Groot, his tree friend and from what Steve can tell; his closest and dearest companion. Rhodey mourns Tony and Sam, as Steve does. Tony, because no one knows where he is or whether he’s still alive. From what little Bruce was able to tell them, Steve at least knows he’s with the Spider-Man, the Queens kid with a lot of heart that reminds Steve so much of himself, and if that is indeed the case, then Steve thinks he’s right in keeping his hopes up. He mourns Sam because never has one person become such a rock in another person’s life or such a reliable and faithful friend as quickly as Sam Wilson became to him.
They mourn Wanda, a person who’s seen far too many atrocities in her young life and one snatched away too soon. They mourn Vision, a powerful companion and a dependable friend, and their love that didn’t get the chance to truly prosper.
They mourn the lives of the brave Wakandan men and women who put it all on the line without question and without hesitation.
Steve mourns them all, but most of all, he mourns Bucky. He mourns the Bucky he used to be. He mourns the man HYDRA turned him into. He mourns the man he’d slowly become, something of an amalgamation of the old Bucky he loved, and the tortured Winter Soldier who walked around with the guilt bearing heavy down on his shoulder. He mourns the person he could have become if his life hadn’t been ended so cruelly along with so many others. But mostly he mourns his dearest friend and the promise he’ll never be able to keep.
Thor, he thinks, mourns most of all.
From what little Thor had actually told of his escapades in the years they’d been apart, he’d lost both his parents, killed the sister he never knew he had; lost his home and half the people he was tasked to protect; lost his hammer and his eye all within a span of a few days, and the most recent loss he suffered was that of his brother.
Steve has no lost love for Loki, however he understands the strength of a brother’s love, whether or not their bond was forged by blood. He loves Bucky like a brother the way Thor loves Loki as a brother and Steve can absolutely understand the depths of that grief. However,  having gotten to know Thanos as intimately as he recently has, perhaps he understands Loki a lot more than he did; perhaps he sympathizes with his motives a lot more than he was willing to do in the past.
Thor’s mourning is great, though he doesn’t cry, he doesn’t wail or scream; he doesn’t hide away to wallow in his grief but Steve can feel it rolling off his shoulders like a blaze.
Thor mourns as Steve mourns as they all mourn.
They lost the battle and the war and the price that came with it is too great to even fathom.
They mourn the dead and the lost, but moreso than that, they mourn the uncertainty that the future holds.
Steve has never felt such an overwhelming feeling of helplessness and loss and for the first time in his life, he just doesn’t know what to do.
So Steve Rogers cries the way he has never cried before. Not when Bucky’s screaming figure disappeared down the ravine on that freezing mountaintop. Not when he woke up in this strange new world and everyone he ever knew or cared about was dead. Not when Peggy died and took with her the last piece of the life he once knew and was so cruelly denied.
Steve cries for Tony and Rhodey. He cries for the Queen and Shuri and Okoye and the Wakandan people who put everything on the line to fight a battle that wasn’t even theirs to begin with. He cries for Natasha and Bruce and Rocket the Raccoon. He cries for Thor because he knows Thor won’t allow himself that one moment to truly and openly grieve.
Steve cries because that’s the only thing he’s able to do. He’s given everything and put everything out there on the battlefield and he has absolutely nothing left in him but his tears.
--
The nation is on high alert. People are in mourning but their guard remains up. They watch as the seconds tick by, every single one greeted with terse caution and wariness, constantly expecting Thanos to suddenly reappear to finish the massacre.
It’s been hours since the battle ended and night has fallen, blanketing the entire country in a still and terrifying darkness. Hours since the people left behind could do nothing but watch helplessly as their loved one disintegrated right before their very eyes.
Thor’s tight hold on his weapon never once eases. Steve is still decked out in complete battle gear, shields and all. At his side a sniffling Rocket has his weapon and Bucky’s cradled in his arms like a child.
Shuri is at her high-tech console, her hands flying through with speed, skill and precision befitting a great warrior; her eyes scanning through the information flashing past almost too fast for even Steve’s enhanced senses to make head or tails off. She’s looking for an explanation, a solution; anything to explain what had happened and how to fix it. Her back is ramrod straight and her shoulders square, gone is the childlike grin and the witty comebacks; she has her back to Steve and from his position, she looks every bit the sight of calm stoicism and composure. But every once in a while, Steve can see her body language stall as she reaches up to wipe at her eyes and when that happens Steve respectfully looks away to allow her privacy in her sorrow.
Everyone is on their feet a split second before the alarms actually sound, weapons on hand; their terror, rage and sorrow all jumbled up to create one indecipherable emotion as they look to Okoye who informs them that an unidentified ship has just breeched the earth’s atmosphere and is on a set course to land barely a hundred miles North of Wakanda.
They file into the Wakandan ship without word; Steve with Thor, Okoye, Nat, Rocket and a handful of the Dora Milaje. Bruce, Rhodey and the remaining members of the Jabari tribe were left to guard Shuri and the Queen and protect what was left of Wakanda.
They reach the estimated landing coordinates just half a second before the sight of a giant fireball comes barreling through the atmosphere, crashing into the ground at top speed and causing a massive quake that rattles the earth, decimating about two square miles of surrounding forest; leaving it a charred and barren wasteland.
Steve doesn’t know what to expect but somehow he knows it isn’t Thanos – it seems far too impromptu and unplanned to be him. He feels it in his gut and his gut has never lead him astray.
He doesn’t know whether to rejoice or mourn when he’s proven right and the familiar sight of Tony’s metallic red and silver suit catches his eye as it comes crawling out of the wreckage holding an unfamiliar figure at his side. Both look like they’d been put through the absolute ringer and Steve is willing to bet that very little of it is the result of the devastating crash.
The closer they get to each other and the clearer they come into focus, the more Steve realizes that Tony isn’t holding the other person close to his side, more like the other person is the only reason Tony is even upright. Tony’s suit can barely even be called that; whichever (small) section is still a complete piece covering his body is dented and charred and flickering with a constant stream of current passing through the destroyed system.
Steve hears Rocket’s shocked exclamation of ‘nebula’ though he can’t think of any reason to be talking about astronomy at such a critical time.
Steve follows his feet as it leads him forward. Tony doesn’t even seem to be aware of his presence – he doesn’t even seem to be aware that he’s actually on earth until they come within a few feet of each other and Steve finds himself breathing out a soft, “Tony.”
Only then does Tony finally look up.
The look in his eyes Steve can only describe as devastation. Complete and utter devastation.
When their eyes meet it’s as if time actually slows down for a beat before coming to a complete halt. But neither can do anything beyond standing there staring at each other. It’s as if neither of them could remember how to function or use their limbs, or even come to process the horrific event they’d somehow survived without even knowing what the other person had been through.
It’s Rocket that breaks the stale silence and brings both of them crashing back down to earth when he steps up beside Steve, regarding the blue skinned woman at Tony’s side.
“Nebula?” he repeats skeptically, only then does Steve realizes that it’s her name. “Wha-Where’d you come from? Where the other morons?” he asks gruffly. Steve doesn’t have to look down to sense Rocket trying to look past Nebula towards the wreckage, expecting the other’s he’d mentioned to suddenly pop up.
Tony shifts his gaze first, staring at his feet before Steve moves on to look at the woman at his side.
She doesn’t say anything, she doesn’t even react, nothing in her expression gives anything away but Steve just knows. It’s a terrible few seconds of anticipation, looking towards Rocket to see the realization begin dawning on his as well.
“No…” he chokes out, almost like a breath being ripped from his body, as if his entire being had just been deflated by the news. “Gamora? Drax?” he sounds out, none inciting a reaction from the woman. “Mantis? Quill?” The tone of his voice gets higher with every name he says, until it sounds more like a choked sob instead of an actual word. “No… No – No – No!” Steve resists the urge to reach out and offer him comfort because he knows it’s pointless. The only thing he can do is give Rocket space to process everything and maybe even begin accepting the truth of it all. “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck this! Fuck Thanos! Fuck every goddamn thing!”
He begins emptying rounds from both his and Bucky’s weapon into everything in the distance and Steve doesn’t more to stop him. He notices Thor approaching him after a while and finally turns back to Tony, knowing that if nothing else Thor is there to lend him a shoulder to cry on. That’s truly all they can do for each other at that point.
The sound of Rocket’s sobbing in the background is gut wrenching.
“Tony,” Steve calls again, calling his straying attention back to him. “Are you alright?” he asks.
It takes Tony a moment to respond, when his eyes find Steve’s once again, they’re glistening with unshed tears. “No, Cap,” he says, without his wit and sarcasm and his usual bravado. Tony looks every bit what Steve feels on the inside. “I’m not okay,” he says, “We’re not okay.”
Steve doesn’t even have to ask; he heard from Bruce that the kid, Spider-Man had been fighting alongside Tony during the attack in New York and his subsequent absent was a telling sign of where he’d likely ended up.
The empty spot at Tony’s side and the air surrounding him that could only be one of a parent mourning the loss of a child is all the answer Steve needs.
“No,” Steve says, “We’re not okay at all.”
He takes a single step forward just as Tony pulls himself out of Nebula’s hold, catching the man just before he crumples to the ground. He feels Tony’s arms circling around his torso, his fingers digging into the material of his back and he latches on just as fiercely. For the first time in his life, he just stands there unmoving and listens to the sound of Tony Stark sobbing into his shoulder.
He doesn’t look around to see Thor offering comfort to a devastated Rocket or when he moves closer to Nebula and pulls her into a hug that she melts right into despite the reluctance everyone can sense rolling off her. He doesn’t watch them as she cries and as Rocket cries and as Thor swallows his anguish and his pain and instead casts an unreadable look out into the distance.
He doesn’t look around to see Nat and Okoye holding each other close and the rest of the Dora Milaje consoling each other and comforting each other’s immeasurable sorrow.
He doesn’t look at Tony as he rubs comforting circles on his back and keeps his own tears at bay.
He doesn’t look at anything or anyone only the smiling faces of Bucky and Sam in his memories that he desperately latches onto and keeps close to his heart. He looks back on the memories of Wanda and Vision, of fighting the persistent little Queens kid who just wouldn’t stay down. He remembers T’Challa and his kindness and the poise and dignity he wears like a suit of armour. He remembers the brave men and women who fought by his side and gave everything they had.
He remembers because the memories are the only things he has left.
At the same time he remembers the feeling of defeat and hopelessness.  Of desperation and pain. The agony of it all. He forces himself to remember it, to think about it, to feel it in his body and his soul because it’s the last time he wants to feel that way ever again.
They may have lost so much more than the battle, but if there’s one thing Steve Rogers is known for, it’s for his persistence and his inability to just lie down and accept the loss. He doesn’t and he never will. As long as there’s breath in him, as long as his heart keeps beating and his blood keeps pumping he will continue the fight and he knows he’s not the only one who feels that way.
At his side, he can nearly feel the simmering of Thor’s blood under his skin.
It’s as he’d said to Bucky once upon a time ago, as he’d said to Tony almost in the same breath – when it comes to fighting and protecting those who mean the most to him – he can absolutely go at it all day.
The day of the war against Thanos might have already ended, but a new one is already on the horizon, Steve can smell it in the air.
He’s still holding onto Tony, letting him cry his tears onto his shoulder until he isn’t and he’s staring the other man straight in the eyes. His eyes are red rimmed and wet, but the determination in them is palpable. Steve knows his eyes are mirror images of that.  A glance over his shoulder at Thor tells the same story almost as if he can sense the change of the energy in the air.
“Who’s already tired of being the loser today?” Tony says as he physically pulls himself back together.
Steve feels the tug of a smile at his lips and it feels almost foreign. “Took the words right out of my mouth, Tony,” he says.
He feels the prickling of electricity that causes the little hairs on his body to stand on end and turns to see Thor stepping up beside them. The melancholic air around him is gone; in its place is a wide toothy grin that’s become almost a comforting presence. His different coloured eyes however show a completely different side of the seemingly light hearted grin. The look in his eyes is sharp, determined and intense and in that moment Steve thinks Thor looks every bit the god his name says him to be.
The rest of their unlikely little group converge on the small circle they’d created just a few steps away from charred crater and the burning wreckage of the spaceship still sending clouds of smoke up into the stratosphere.
“For King T’Challa and for Wakanda,” Okoye says, twirling her spear threateningly between her fingers, “I want to kill this periwinkle son of a bitch.”
“I think I should call Clint to finally get off his ass,” Nat says with a smirk. Steve isn’t sure why Nat sounds so certain that Clint didn’t become a casualty of Thanos’s mass genocide but it’s a question he keeps for a later date.
“No one kills my Groot or my group of d-bags and gets away with it,” Rocket says as he struggles to wipe the goopy snot from his nose, likely sounding much more threatening in his own head.
“For Gamora,” Nebula says, pushing out of Thor’s arms and trying to pretend that she’d never even melted into his embrace in the first place.
“Great,” says Thor with a clap, rubbing his hands together like he’d just been offered a great feast, not a trace of his sadness or mourning anywhere in his body language. Steve had to give it to him. He thought he was good at concealing his emotions, but next to Thor he was obviously a sad amateur. “When do we start?”
Steve casts a look at every single face within their little circle, forcing himself to breath in and our as he wills his own thundering heartbeat into something more relaxed. He allows his own smile to form before he says; “Right now,” and that’s all that needed to be said.
They might have lost against Thanos, but they aren’t defeated. And in a fight for the survival of the universe, that distinction makes all the difference.
The End

infinity war spoilers
n my thoughts
that was a ride for sure
im really glad marvel got braver when it comes to killing off characters. imo GotG2 sucked ass (i genuinely hate that movie lmao) and thor:ragnarok was good but i feel like theyre starting to lay on the Funny Man(TM) act a little TOO much so this was a welcome change
im eternally glad they killed off loki. i dont like tom hiddleston or loki and i never have im sorry. i thought he was cool in ragnarok but thor 2 was just all around bad imo and lokis shit got old hella quick. also it immediately showed they were serious
peter was def my fav char in this entire movie. ive been waiting for an eternity for ANYONE to make spiderman more spiderlike and his new suit was just delicious for the aesthetic geek in me. hes also one of the few characters whose humor never starts to annoy me. with the GotG, the 2nd film was such a turn-off for me that every time they had another thickly laid on joke they shoved into your face i just couldnt laugh about it. the only GotG jokes i laughed about were drax’s “ive been standing here an hour” scene and his “WHY IS GAMORA” thing
speaking of Gamora, im so glad they finally let her actress....act lmao. she wasnt remarkable to me at all in the first 2 movies bc it always seemed like she wasnt allowed to show ANY emotion at all, but the crying for thanos scene was cool. i kinda wish she’d showed as much emotion when thanos threw her down a fucking cliff but alas
i disliked the constant dick measuring contest between characters. quill and thor, strange and stark, some of the useless banter was placed at moments that just seemed completely unlogical to me. like ok thor you literally just watched your brother die and lost the only person you had left but you DO have the emotional capacity left to have a bitch-off with quill? :/
Wakanda was an always will be amazing and i have literally no complaints 100% approve of anything and everything t’challa and crew will ever do.
woulda liked a bit more emotion (doesnt matter what kind but at least EMOTION) between bruce and natasha bc everyone should know that i stan their relationship and i hate the constant turn-arounds natasha’s char goes through. doesnt matter who writes her, one movie shes opening up to people and the next she’ll be an emotionless ass again. also pissed abt the little amount of screentime tasha got in general
Wanda and vision were surprisingly cute but i wouldve preferred a little less heavy drama-like shit to show us they were together. i wouldve preferred to have a short scene of them sitting in their underwear together watching a movie and joking about it or w/e instead of the whole....”are we together or arent we” thing they did
i loved basically everything else tho. nebula’s torture scene actually scared me a bit, thanos really wasnt a bad villain like i thought he was gonna be. i really thought he was just gonna be another “wuh wuh world dominashun” type of guy but his motivations are surprisingly deep and his character was unhinged in a really balanced way. like he is grounded and psycho at the same time.
also wasnt as annoyed by bucky as i was in previous films, turns out not having steve give up literally all his values and friends in order to save him makes him a much more likeable character and the whole “steve?” death scene felt a lot less forced that way, to me at least. i much prefer it when a movie isnt constantly shoving in my face how much steve loses his goddamn mind whenever bucky is in the picture
the iron man/spiderman scene fucking killed me, as did all the other death scenes. also iron man was a lot more likeable in this film than in previous ones, you can really see some character growth. or maybe hes just tired idk. being the passivist understanding dude for once instead of a condescending douchebag is good
the scene where wanda has to kill vision was really cool to me, bc i never cared much about either before but the acting made it so that i actually felt really bad for them even tho the whole time stone thing was so obvious. visions empty robot body was cool
also the fighting scenes were fucking AMAZING. i love how wanda finally became a really good fighter and how shes a lot more agile and dynamic now. thors new axe is cool. Caps beard looks good and his entrance scene was amazing. the strange+spiderman portals “MAGIC WITH A KICK” thing was hardcore. tony’s nanotech was hardcore. bruce finally fighting for himself and using his wits while in the iron man suit was awesome. the wanda+tasha+okoye fighting scene was so cool too!
honestly tho my gripes arent really anything to write home about and are more like nitpicks because i lovedddd the movie. the only BIG gripe i have is that i knoooow theyre all gonna come back. it wouldve been a lot more believable to me if cap/tony/idk the original avengers crew died because theyve all had a bunch of screentime and them killing off peter parker and t’challa just shows theyre gonna come back bc no way marvel is not making them like 3 sequels each at LEAST
i also liked how much the after-credits scene was just another slap in the face. i know many people wanted it to be a “dont worry its gonna be alright!!! saviors are coming” moment but seeing hill and fury die gave me a weird sense of “hell fucking yea” because it shows they were trying to be serious about the “shit is fucked” thing
also im sad they showed the ant man + wasp trailer before the movie because it really lessened the blow of the deaths lmao

my definitive Avengers Infinity War review
spoilers abound
so, i saw it for the third time yesterday night and oh boyyy. knowing what happens and how poorly it ends for the good guys kinda marred the jokey parts. i mean, i don’t think i was able to keep 20 consec mins without tearing up. for instance, the whole thor - rocket discussion is spent in tears, even if initially and the second time i had laughed at the jokes.
note that eventually quill & wanda did what they had to do, even if it didn’t matter. note that thanos says he can’t not do what he has to do once again, not even for gamora. note that gamora, most likely knowing she wouldn’t resist / be able to lie to thanos asked quill to kill her. note that red skull tells thanos that everyone thinks they’re ready for the soul stone sacrifice, but they are all wrong. note that being out of time, time related phrasing is used throughout the final 20 mins, including by thanos. note that wanda is firing at vision with one hand while with the other she’s holding thanos back - effortlessly. note that stormbreaker cuts right into the all six stones beam and ends in thanos’s chest, so stormbreaker is stronger than the infinity stones!? note that thanos fake dies twice. note that thanos looks awfully sorry when he says it cost him everything.
so, what i take. gamora in the soul stone will break thanos’s resolve. as red skull said, he will regret killing her. the time stone hasn’t had its last play. wanda and thor with stormbreaker might be key in defeating thanos. (of course, i am not forgetting captain marvel!!!!)
the movie overall is very sombre, the jokes tug at your strings even if they make you laugh. or they make you laugh to shake you out of the sadness.
now onto the chars: i came into the MCU via tumblr’s tom hiddleston obsession in early 2012. i most likely started with thor and then saw avengers. i remember seeing a torrented copy of avengers and a week later going to the cinema to see it. i didn’t like cap america in avengers, chris evans (who i totally dug) looked weird, too blond, his face with too much makeup (whedon!!) and RDJ’s tony was a delight. i caught up more or less with the MCU and then winter solider happened and i was taken with cap. so, i was team cap in civil war. and could never relate to tony, to his my way or the highway pov.
but the tony in infinity war is such a great character, he was one of my favourites. he is unflinchingly one of the bravest people in the game and the way he goes after thanos with his suit basically falling to pieces is one of the best action and emotion sequences i’ve ever seen. and tony’s so human, trying to keep up the spirits, to maintain optimism, to find a silver lining, to give 110%, to find strength even in defeat. and that’s not even touching on his relationship with peter. i guess civil war isn’t really a captain america movie, because, as always RDJ/tony steals every movie’s he’s in.
tony’s the 4th best char in IW, and that’s because i’m not a tony fan.
third best is gamora, who has some of the most disturbing and yet wonderful developments. she’s first seen as loose, finally open, singing along to an 80s banger, then it all takes a dark and darker turn. and like i said above, i think she knew she would be the price for the soul stone in a way. it’s such amazing acting when, after she’s done mocking thanos for crying (for being refused a present). she realises she’s gonna be the sacrifice. this is probably my fav emotionally draining scene in IW. it’s raw, sort of unexpected with her suddenly cheerful and then turning immediately sinister. in death, gamora has still a lot of influence on what happens next.
second best is thor. thor goes through a lot and that’s before taking the whole power of a star! he’s the protag of the story, showing strength, sorrow, emotion, regret, faith in his fate, determination. thor has my three favourite scenes in the movie, the discussion with the sweet Rabbit about loss, the forging of stormbreaker, (and yes it does help that hemsworth looks like that as he opens up the star!) and his arrival in Wakanda and it shows a really well fleshed out thor, ready to take on challenges and be the hero and yet allowing himself a moment of grieving, of raw emotion.
finally, the best character is of course thanos. he is also fleshed out and i think some people have a hard time accepting his motivation because they miss that thanos has already begun his world halving, gamora’s and drax’s world have been part of it, through fire and blood. in comparison to that kind of “balancing”, of course the snap with largely non painful turning to ash removal from existence seems the more judicious, less destructive method. his rapport with gamora and even nebula is also well done. and his tears, his grief, seem normal. he is presented as an abuser, of gamora with “good” intentions, making her strong and whatnot, and with nebula out of sheer cruelty. this is also touched upon in GOTG2 when the sisters have their heart to heart. thanos definitely wants to seem like he thought this through, like he is ready, for everything, but he isn’t. red skull’s warning is pretty clear. his pained response to soul stone girl gamora is also clear. his smile upon viewing the sunrise is a fakeout. thanos will probably at least try to undo what he had done, at least part of it.
special mentions
peter parker - not really a fan, but tom holland really sells the character. it really does help that he’s a very young actor, with a high voice and small, slim figure, he sells the fun boyishness of spiderman macguirre and garfield couldn’t ever really pull off. the fun, quippy spiderman up until the final moments actually highlights the awful ending, although, on my third viewing it seemed a bit long, milking it for the audience (had the same impression the first time, yet the second time i was really moved by it).
dr strange - better fleshed out in this movie than his very own, where i guess the formulaic origin story hindered the development of this cold calculated persona we see in IW.
wanda & vision. they were severely underpowered. wanda keeps thanos at bay with one hand, yet she needs help vs proxima midnight & corvus glaive?! lame. hard to understand how two mind stone powered heroes (or just one, since vision was severely hurt by CG’s spear thingy) are less capable than cap, nat and falcon. but i guess this is the superman syndrome, you can’t unleash these folk’s full power cause otherwise what would the other heroes get to do. still, okoye’s quip is well earned.
yet, i loved their love story. finally a lovestory well handled in the MCU, which is so rare. their final scene together, in particular wanda’s comments to thanos about loss and her almost relieved face when turning to ash was incredible, very powerful.
rocket & groot were poignant and had some wonderful scenes, this time around groot ashing up really made me spring new tears.
everyone else got just a few scenes, and indeed, one can say we spent way too little with cap, nat, t’challa, shuri and most of the wakanda section. i suppose the movie was all but done by the time black panther became such a major hit and maybe spending less time with these chars now would ensure more time in Avengers 4. for chars like cap or nat, it’s all we needed. for black panther, maybe it was too little. esp that he too turned to dust at the end.
overall, the movie is impressive. it has weight and moves almost seamlessly from scene to scene. it’s got plenty of heart and it leaves you needing more but also quite sated!?! also, this was my final viewing, it gets too emotional too fast for further enjoyment of the fun, light scenes.
