The height was nauseatingly far.
Oh, but what a height it was to fall from.
When he plummeted, he felt the wind whistle past his damaged ears. It was frightening, but in a way, exhilarating. He was in control here. He made this choice.
And when his body impacted the water, he screamed, water threatening to flood his lungs before the pain took him first. But he fought, he struggled. He was going to live, and if he had to, he was going to make it everyone’s problem.
He was going to fight and show the world he at least was worth something. He was worth something. He broke the surface of the water, the icy air gripping his lungs.
and so we have reached our main character, A!Tommy from AHTFF!
I’m posting the art i made for my retired (incomplete) fic AHTFF, since most people agreed that i should post it. it’s a 70k+ 22 ch fic centered on SBI/Fantasy/Found Family, Timeline hopping, and sort of post-exile. Things get absurdly sweet in parts (though there is still a ton of drama and angst) so fair warning the cringe level might be a bit high for you.
Don’t follow me for DSMP content, i’m not producing art for it. I’m posting what i have, then it will be back to MDZS!

I posted my butterfly art on IG with some of your text (with credit) and someone asked if Dream can feel when a butterfly is killed. What should I tell them skdjsj
this is fun because we have no rules behind how canon chats work in the dsmp right? if u wanna know my personal headcanon behind it that i use when i write, it’s something like this:
i write chats as something that every character can see, but only one character can communicate with (except in the case of c!techno’s chat or other chats that don’t have such a physical form). and if only one character can communicate with a chat, that means the chat can’t just... speak in a human tongue. if they did, everyone could just listen in! c!philza’s crows don’t speak, c!tubbo’s bees don’t speak, and c!dream’s butterflies don’t speak.
dream could talk TO phil’s crows, and the crow might caw back at him, but he won’t understand what it means. a butterfly could land on phil’s sleeve and pull on it, and phil might be able to infer what it wants, but the communication isn’t super clear.
so, yes, the bond between the character and their chat is a little deeper so communication can make more sense. when i write lines like ‘stop looking’ ‘stop looking’ from the butterfly chat, i picture that dialogue as popping up in dream’s head and being inaudible to everyone else :) so, yeah, a voice that only c!dream can hear.
I do think that chats have a lot of free will, can be unruly at times, and can act outside of their “owner’s” permission. They can keep secrets, even from their owner (”are we that hungry?... you should’ve told me”) (and, in itwall ch 10, phil’s chat had to make it back to philza to share info with him. the transfer wasn’t instant). for that reason, i’m hesitant to give dream power over them to “see through their eyes” as he uses them to spy. as a writer, i’ve used that slight disconnect between character and chat to make plotlines more interesting. that IS a rly cool headcanon though, esp if we’re talking about butterflies with eye designs on them!
and would he know if a butterfly died? well, he Did know that the blue one he sent to quackity didn’t make it back. and you can Bet he has more than one blue one in that swarm of his. i’m not 100% sure what’s meant by the word “feel”-- i definitely wasn’t picturing that he, like, felt physical pain when it died. but he knows his chat, knows their voices, and knows when one of them doesn’t make it back to him. and he’d insist that it doesn’t hurt (it hurts him very, very much).

Because like dsmp wise Tommy died in that prison. Can we please just let Tommy be a Hollywood celebrity who doesn’t exactly know how he got there. Hell he can still be a hitman who has a shit fuck collection of celebrity connections (that’s fun to say) but I just don’t want him to be all sad and extra trauma-ed like the rest of these characters.
Just Tommy ironically becoming a micro celebrity and it just went right under everyone nose because he changed his name to Innit or some bullshit like that after clearing up his fake death.
Bonus points if when “Innit” started appearing in tv shows, shitty music videos, news interviews, etc. Wilbur would always rant about how he was an obnoxious undeserving douche because of all the times this damn child would appear on tv surrounded by women and money. Like he would actively complain about it and Quackity’s would have to say “he’s just a kid, babe. Cut him some slack.”

FINALLY finished chapter 5 of techno-gets-wrecked-in-prison fic, good god that was a bitch and a half. But it is here, and it's syndicate found family heavy, and I got to play around with theology worldbuilding so I'm very pleased. Take a look! Thoughts on chapter 58
(There's no tesis or deep theories i got to with this btw it's just a bunch of thoughts i had after reading ch 58 thrown into a tumblr post bc this fic is all i think about ohgod)
This chapter confirms that The Atrocity is indeed Automata, as well as chapter 57 confirmed Automata was Dream, Puffy's eldest son.
I'm excited to see more of 498 and 499, given that our Tommy is 500. I really want to know what will happen with that.
I also wonder what Karl's course of action will be now, or how he'll take the news. (im a slut for the inbetween lore istg)
Considering the DSMP storyline and Automata's biogenetic studies, I'm assuming he also has something equivalent to a Revival Book, and wants to test it on Tommy, thus why he took his body once he died instead of leaving it to Techno and Tubbo.
Also, I'm assuming Quackity had his talk with Blaze about keeping Spider-man safe, which would explain why he was struggling against Automata when he reached out to him after inyecting the cyanide on Spider-man, and got mad when he'd just done it.
I'm also excited to see how Techno and Tubbo will manage to tell their families about it, now that Automata has Tommy's body. That conversation is going to be so hard oh god. I'm so sure Wilbur's going to be mad as hell at Techno for letting Tommy be Spider-man, and I'm not sure how Ranboo will feel about everything. Because sure, Tubbo lied to him, but I really don't think he's going to be mad at Tubbo. Not after what just happened.
Ok moving on before i start psychoanalysing every character in Guided Evolution.
I'm really intrigued as to what Dream's motivations were to start these studies and experiments, or what aspect of himsef he wanted to "fix", as we read him say in one of the Guided Evolution archives, as well as why he wanted the powers now Tommy has (aka superstrength, fast metabolism, sharp senses, etc.), plus the power to revive people.
Another thing I've noticed is that, the same way Puffy never understood why her son was so violent and apathetic, Techno doesn't understand why Tommy decided to become a superhero. I'm thinking this could have something to do with The Atrocity and The Catalyst, like some sort of history that they might have had together in the past, as in on previous lives. We already know they're related because of The Inbetween's lore, but I'm sure there is something more to it.

“Wilbur scoffs. “I bet Techno gets more girls than you, Tommy.”
Tommy puts his head in his hands. “That is awful. Never say that to me again, Wilbur. That was just awful.”
Tubbo pats Tommy on the back sympathetically. Ranboo pats him on the back also, but after doing it twice he realizes it may be a bit weird, so he lets out an apologetic, nervous sound and gets back to wiping down the desk.”

“Quackity likes to take care of his own things, Tubbo knows. He’s had that car for years, paid off half of it and worked for years to pay his grandparents back for the rest. He’s usually the only one to ride around in it, and Tubbo’s not sure he can ever remember being inside of it, because Quackity is careful with money like that and Tubbo’s always been destructive.
It feels out of place in front of the house, but then again, it’s better than the time that Schlatt’s dad rented a sports car and it sat outside, so starkly wrong, until he couldn’t pay for it any longer and he had to give it up again.”

“For all of Ranboo’s life, he just wanted a friend that wasn’t there for a reason. All he’s ever wanted was for someone to want him without having to want him.

I find it interesting how people will write cquackity and cranboos relationship. When they interacted originally, Quackity really disliked ranboo and wanted him killed. Now I’ll see content where the creator just want Quackity to protect bench trio and it’s so out of character. I feel like I see no one talk about their actual dynamic and it’s kinda annoying.

I don’t hate him or anything and he’s a very compelling and well-done character, I like cc!quackitys content a lot, and like half of my mutuals love c!q which is understandable, but I am a c!purpled stan first and a person second so I have a very slight grudge against c!quackity and just can’t really like him as much as a lot of people do. this information is absolutely useless but I felt like telling someone

sorry i feel like i should elaborate on the ctntduo divorce. i read one fanfic where they got married once and it sparked something in me that, despite everything, has persisted for far too long. it wasn't even the main focus of the fic it was in the background and i've been doing this for like eight months because of it. sorry but i can't ever see those two existing peacefully they would be like the couple in the courthouse arguing over custody of the houseplant in the divorce
