In honor of Dan and Phil killing me. Here is a walk down memory lane.

My favorite YouTuber couples from when I watched YouTube religiously

(don't watch any of them anymore and most of them have broken up or never dated. This is all fun and games)

1) Zoe and Alfie

This one turned out fine. They have a kid and one on the way. They are engaged and happy. We love to see it. The only British squad couple to last. I hope they last forever

2) Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee

Idk I was obsessed with two straight boys. And my brain decided they had to be dating. Maybe it was because I was super gay and I didn't know then. But I used read fics of them and it was cute 🥺. But they are both very straight

I couldn't find a single gif of them lol

3) Ryan Higa and Arden Cho

I was just really impressed by their relationship. They were so cute together. I was sad to hear they had split up

Mine still has to be Seteth saying that she must be a kind and trusting leader because her troops were willing to die to protect her, meaning they all liked her on a personal level; this is despite the fact that Seteth should also know that Adrestia is currently a hell-hole where anyone who isn't in the army is starving and being tortured by Thales, which is a much more likely reason for her troops to not be willing to disobey orders than loyalty.

Seteth saying this when, as the player, we know Baldo'n'Waldi were fielded is just completely bonkers and really one of the lowest points for him, but that can be written off with "everyone has to hold the idiot plot ball at some point, else the player cannot drink Hresvelg Gray".

Imo the worst still comes from VW!Billy lol, with the uwu choice "I don't want to kill Supreme Leader" and "Can't we walk with Supreme Leader?" when, at this point, Billy's concerned about Rhea's safety, didn't interact with her more than they did with Dimitri and Bernie, trounced BL students scot free in Gronder because Claude has myopia and either killed Bernie or witnessed her being flamed, the entire schtick with Flamey and Jerry, Baldo'n'Waldi, etc etc.

Nopes!Dimitri takes a hit too, iirc at some point he mentions he doesn't disagree with her reforms (but disagrees with her methods?) but what are even her reforms? Random Joes being able to climb "dah ladder" and become something else than randoms? Get rid of corrupt noble? Can someone tell me why Waldemar'n'Leopold are still here - nobles so corrupt that they betrayed their Ionius for ~reasons~ and now kneel in front of his daughter for ~reasons~ (Tru Piss reveals Leopold governs over Leicester!).

Heck, Barney is still a nobody - despite being an OP random - but Leopold is a general and the Minister of War, and he gives his heirloom to... his son, and not to Barney who showed more merits and has more achievments than Nopes!Caspar.

Honorable mention to Rhea's "maybe the war was my fault" in the worst support -> the game will not tell us what she was doing during those 5 years (that's why I jokingly say she had zumba classes for 5 years in Enbarr's finest resort) but it sure spends even one octet having her taking the blame for, well, Supreme Leader's war and even suggesting those actions can be "justified" by Rhea's own actions...

GG game, victim blaming at its finest.

you know for years when I was younger, I was convinced they were genuinely just really good friends and accepted the vday vid as April fools. I admired their friendship and I guess I just thought I better believe what they tell me and Dans 2012 tumblr/live shows rants about how he’s straight didn’t help (now we obviously know why he acted that way). Their old formspring answers about being bi and implying there was something more between them must’ve been them being young and joking online for the lolz. Dan seemed annoyed & said they were just joking so I must believe him

BUT I always thought… all best friends separate and get their own partners/houses eventually. How would these 2 cope? They seem too intertwined. I literally couldn’t imagine either of them having a serious relationship with someone else (looking back, I couldn’t picture them settling with a girl, didn’t make sense in my head with how they acted, makes sense in hindsight) because I’m like…how would that person even compare?! They’d be a mega third wheel and would never be able to have a third of the connection d&p share. Would you even WANT to come into that knowing deep down you’d never compete and would never be their person fully. Then like 2016+ happens & I’m like.. wait why are these guys still living together and joking about getting a dog. Why are they moving again together? Poor their future partners, will never come first. Lol. How would they have time to meet a future partner and would they be ok with these guys intense bond?

Anyways, fast forward, I’m happy they’ve settled into their forever home and will be with each other for the rest of their lives. I truly admire their bond. The way they portray their relationship is really smart imo. If you watch them & have been there, you know, but to an outsider they probably dont. And good for them, they deserve their boundaries 🫶🏻

this is such a wholesome progression of thoughts. like... i don't at all blame people that thought the exact same way you did back in the early days! for a while it seems like that would have been the logical conclusion. and also one that i, as an outsider, assumed: these guys were queerbaiting just like joe and caspar and smosh and every other m/m white guy youtube duo

so it definitely took - and may still take - some looking at the situation more closely to realize there's substance there, and a lot of it.
