youtube adds new contracts for everything, they looove it. and they love dream they know the effect he has and how much he moves
it really is simply because he doesn't want to. he didn't even take affiliate of twitch because he hates the compromise of bending to one platform. at the time, it was what youtube offered their streamers too
important distinction to make, streamer contracts are NOT creator contracts. markiplier has a creator contract. he has shows with the platform. the people who only stream are under different clauses, particularly the ones of content exclusivity ( this has been changed with the years no idea where exactly is at now )
dream could have been given a creator contract for usmp, considering it had a google feature. he could be given one for this new series too. but he won't accept a streaming contract if it's still how it was a couple years ago, it doesn't align with what he wants and he has said as much with twitch contracts and him not taking one
ahh interesting I didn't realize mark had a different style of contract.
I guess my hope isn't even that dream /dteam are contracted onto youtube but more that they leave the twitch scene however that needs to happen because the people there are just Not It.
I know Dream wants to be a free bird and wants to be able to do whatever he wants I just wish someone whispered in his ear to maybe start streaming on youtube again just to see how it performs😭
Very interesting to hear more about the youtube contracts though! I knew very little about how they operated with big creators behind the scenes

thank you to everyone that left comments on mine and alison's latest fic - i know i'm shit at replying and i know people have a lot of negative feelings about authors that don't reply to comments. but please know and trust that every single comment that is left makes me feel so gratified and good about sharing something online, which is a feeling i always struggle with. i don't choose not to respond because i don't care or the comments don't matter, it's just anxiety, the same anxiety that slams into me and steals my breath when it comes to thinking about posting in the first place. every comment helps me find the confidence to post the next thing.
and no one owes me comments, obviously, and if people only want to extend thoughts to an author they know will reply back to them i understand that and i accept it, but just - don't think it doesn't matter, please. i don't think there's anyone in this world that feels blasé about someone noticing their art or creative efforts and choosing to express that to the creator. or if those people do exist... i'm not one of them. so: thank you to everyone who has left or will leave a comment.
