20/100 days of productivity! Today I got word that my university will not allow us to return in the fall, and it honestly wrecked my day. I’m talking to my friends to try to deal with our sadness, and I’m brainstorming my next steps. I hope you guys all get the news you want when it comes to fall and reopening. 🤞🏽

Throwback to my cousin's wedding two months ago. I've been bumming it all day while studying so I wanted to relive one of my better moments 😂. I'm finally onto the next unit of the CMA exam and I think I found a way of studying from the textbook that actually helps. We'll see how it works on the more calculation heavy chapters though!

life update !!
hey babes!! i have obviously been MIA for a while so i wanted to post a quick life update and let you know what i’ve been up to!!
It’s very long and rambling so read below the cut !!
The past year or so has been crazy for a lot of reasons. Last year was probably the best of my life in ways I could have never expected. I received an award for my work that had been an insane never-gonna-happen dream of mine for a while. I got my dream internship and spent the summer in DC. Fall semester of senior year was incredible -- I got to live in a house with my best friends and finally go out to all the iconic college bars on weekends. I lived a five minute walk from my favorite coffee shop and was really getting into a groove at my job.
Spring semester I started my job search -- I had a very specific idea of what I would be doing after graduation and was planning to move to either New York or DC.
... and then that all went out the window for obvious reasons.
I’m gonna be honest. March and April were rough. I have loved college so much, and to have all of that change so suddenly was really tough. I spent a lot of time crying, and then an equal amount of time feeling guilty for crying about missing college when people were dying. But, I came to terms with the change in plans.
I got to spend more time with my roommates. We dressed up and had fancy dinners on our porch. We binged trashy TV shows. We went for drives through farmland singing at the top of our lungs. It wasn’t the senior semester I had expected, but it was really special. And most importantly...
I GRADUATED !!!
There were times I thought it was never gonna happen, but I did it y’all!!
After “graduation” day I took some time off -- relaxed and reevaluated my life plan.
My whole life I’ve been working towards my goals with a strict schedule, and then all of the sudden none of that wasn’t an option anymore.
I realized that for the time being moving far away didn’t make much sense. There aren’t many “forever” jobs open right now. I don’t like the idea of moving to a new city for a temporary job with the possibility that it could go online (or disappear) at any time, leaving me stuck in an expensive apartment in a city where I don’t have friends.
So, I started applying for jobs in and around my hometown. Not what I thought I would be doing at this point in my life, but it makes the most sense and I’m looking forward to being close to my family for the first time in four years. Plus I’ve missed home cooked meals!! And my dog, of course.
I got a job !!
It’s a communications position for a local nonprofit that’s doing some really cool work. I’m excited to work my first “real” job and the team seems so great!!
The job is a one-year position, which is perfect because that gives me enough time to get my bearings and keep applying for long-term jobs.
This is definitely not how I thought post-grad life would look for me, but I’m super excited for all the new opportunities.
So, all of that to say that as life is starting to calm down I’ll hopefully be around more. As I enter this new stage of my life of working full time I’ll need all the advice I can get, and hopefully will be able to share some as well!!

Network/Blog idea thingy
Hey! I just had this idea, I don’t know how people would like it so I’m just gonna ask you. I’m not sure if anyone has already done this, if so ignore this. I was thinking about creating a network/group thing that would be a base of different careers/interests/passion and information about those topics. I know a lot of people don’t know what they want to do in the future, I was in that position once and it destroyed me. I wanted to create something where those who don’t know what they want to do can find a huge collection of careers/hobbies/anything really based of their interests, passions, etc. I would like it to include things like how long you’d have to go to school for, classes you’d have to take, different career options for that area of study and more.
I can’t do this on my own though, so I’m looking for others who are interested in helping me create/run this or even just contribute your stories/experiences in what it takes to study certain topics. I’m very sorry that I suck at explaining things but if you have any question/are interested in joining me in this creation feel free to contact me.

I’m back! (and totally an adult now)
So hey! It’s me!
I’ve been away, mainly because I wasn’t really doing much studenting (but still doing plenty of musicking. Always) and my feeble attempts at taking online courses were thwarted by being incredibly busy and having to prioritise due to long term illnesses (yay)
But!
I’m now basically doing a version of my dream job! Admittedly, it’s a version where I spend more time travelling to work than I do working and don’t earn very much or have much predictability/stability in my work. But it’s a start. And I’m super excited! And I want to figure things out as part of a community and share my strategies for managing all the stuff and get some ideas and everything. So yeah. I’m back! Hi again!
(also for those who want to know so for the past year I’ve been singing in a professional choir and occasionally working as a support worker with children and young adults with disabilities. From tomorrow, I’m going to be a peripatetic instrumental teacher working in a number of local schools. I’m also continuing on with the choir and taking on the role of choir librarian. On top of that I do a fair bit of volunteering including helping conduct a community choir.)

10.23.17 My first post. Tonight I've finally moved onto chapter 2 of my CMA exam. I'm realizing how much and how little I learned in accounting in college and now I'm trying to make that up post-college. Last weekend I went to Boston to visit my old roommate with some other old roommates, and met my self-appointed cat nephew. Maybe tomorrow I will make an introduction post to this side blog when I get home from work. Hopefully I can keep my promise of going to the gym 🙄. Anyways, lame first post but follow me and I promise to get better lol.
