I just read the latest review for Good Omens 2 and they still calling Crowley’s and Aziraphale relationship a bromance lmao
“The two stars have a blast with their campy competitive bromance, Sheen sporting blond spikes as if he’s stuck his hand in a toaster and Tennant a crimson ripcurl of a quiff and eyes which turn into prize-winning bools when he’s angry.”
Joking aside, why is this the best description of them I’ve ever read?

🎶✨when you get this you have to put 5 songs u actually listen to. then send this ask or tag 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)✨🎶
tagged by the faaaabbbbbbulous @queeranomaly thanks frand
So Apple Music makes a new "Favorites" playlist for me every week based on what it thinks I like/what I've been listening to a lot, so the 5 songs are gonna come from there =)
Skewing older this week but I do love all of these songs so it's accurate ahaha.
Tagging (no pressure) @bisexualwvtson @exlibrisfangirl @mamajosrefuge @malgudinights @lordoftherazzles @galwithalibrarycard @nickmybeloved @panlyra @hellahappytea and anyone else who wants to do this! =)

I love how formulaic slasher movies are. and no that's not sarcasm. I genuinely love it. The first person to appear is always killed before the opening credits. the first person to appear after or during the opening credits is always either the villain (sometimes red herring and fuuuuck I love that shit!) or the Final Girl (need not actually be a girl, though it usually is). It's so comforting. And when I'm watching it for a specific actor, like now, it makes it like a fun little guessing game. Who's he gonna be?
Between the trailer, the fact that he was the VERY FIRST face shown after the first kill, and the fact that he's the quiet loner, my first guess was Villain/Red Herring. But then he turned out to be less awkward/creepy and more sensitive and a thinker, so I'm leaning more towards Final Girl or the one who dies tragically trying to save the Final Girl now.

Say what you will about Van Helsing 2004; hate it, love it, be indifferent, But the All-Hallow's masquerade ball went sooooo hard and it had zero right to do so! It's a fun, campy, monster mash movie with wonderfully dated ( and expensive) cgi and non-stop action meant to be a popcorn flick one takes out to watch around spooky season. And it has this* chef's kiss* GORGEOUS 6 minute sequence plopped arbitrarily in the second act, which unexpectedly surpasses nearly every other ball in the last 30+ years of film( notable exception being the Cinderella 2015 ball) for literally no reason other than to be dramatic af.
Like feast your eyes on this Gothic masterpiece!!! Who doesn't want to immediately live in this picture?!??
Tumblr media
They used those candles with oil in them so that they would have real candles, real string orchestra( I believe), probably around 100 real life extras( something which is tragically absent in modern film), said extras are all in beautiful fully decked-out costumes( which are in luxuriously dark colours, but nearly no fully black, another thing you cannot say for much modern cinema), REAL CIRQUE DU SOLEIL PERFORMERS for all the acrobatics!!!! Hell, instead of filming in a sound stage, where they could control the reverb and the acoustics and the size of the set and the bloody lighting ( they apparently had a heck of a time emulating the firelight for this sequence) and the temperature( it's very cold in stone churches!) better, they filmed in a Baroque church in Prague! As I said, peak dramatic splendour, jfc...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Think about that a second...They filmed a vampire masquerade in a Baroque Catholic Church( St. Nicholas' in Lesser Town, if you were curious) with amazing over-the-top acoustics and marble statues and real, tiled floors and marble pillars and a choir loft which they very much utilized, covered the pipe organ and the altar with a grand brocade curtain so it wouldn't be so obviously a, you know, a church! And there's a gold gilt elevated and canopied pulpit into which they put two vampire kiddies for, again, the sake of being dramatic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the costumes! They remind me of the 25th anniversary Phantom of the Opera Masquerade costumes. Same quality, like they're old, well-cared-for costumes pulled out of a warehouse, instead of fast industry churn-outs. With lots of trim and colour and masks and lace and feathers and..just...ugh.. they are all perfect! Just look at all the head pieces on the ladies and the hats on all the gentleman ( save Dracula of course) and the powdered wigs on the musicians. ANNNNDD! The dresses are historically correct!!!!!! It's the 80's bustle era! Nobody does the 80's bustle era in film anymore and it's a bummer. Oh and one other thing! Anna's ( and other women's) hair, at least here in the ball, is also historically accurate because it's all pinned up! None of those fucken modern beachwaves at a ball! Everybody's got updo's!
Tumblr media
Gah, I swear, Dracula in his gold cloak really does things to me in this scene!
Tumblr media
By the way, the acrobatics are bonkers in here for just background stuff!! Especially the random guys on unicycles and the dude playing the violin whilst standing on a ball...Like....WHAT?
Anyways, all this to say, that this masquerade ball feels sooo real and tangible and because of that it blows every other film out of the water, and no, I will not change my mind!!!!!
Here's a few more gifs, bcuz, why the hell not, this scene is sexy as fuu*ck?

So High School is such a fun song, if it's supposed to be about Travis and Taylor's 6-ish month long ~relationship~ with him then it's full of such stereotypical hetero Americana stuff to the point that it's really cringey and hilarious specifically because it's so cringey, but if it's supposed to be about Karlie and Taylor's decade long relationship with her then it's not only a campy AF subversion of the stereotypical Americana stuff but also kinda tooth-achingly sweet and silly and fun that Taylor still internally does gay keysmashes in her brain when she looks at or even thinks of Karlie after a decade together tbh
IDK, Taylor genuinely likes that Karlie is a gentleman according to the lyrics of Slut! so the line in So High School about Taylor's partner getting the car door for her makes me smile every time okay, I can't help it, it just makes me remember those Ye Olde Kaylor pap pics from the 1989 Era where Karlie opened the car door for Taylor and put her hand on Taylor's lower back when she was helping Taylor into the car and Taylor had the smuggest grin on her face because it turns out that chivalry isn't dead and her name happens to be Karlie Elizabeth Kloss 🙈
yes the car door line! i know exactly the photos you’re talking about 😭😭

Saw people talking about Drag Me To Hell on Twitter and while I had fun watching the movie with my mom a few years ago because we like campy horror, people don't talk about how racist it is.
Listen, half of the times I tell people that I'm half Romani, they're like “oh are you gonna rob me/stab me” or they tell me to sing and dance. Sometimes they ask me unironically if my mom is homophobic (no she's not, in fact my entire Romani side of the family are very supportive) or are surprised when they know I'm bilingual, I like to read and I'm continuing with my studies, because to them gypsy girls never study, they get married and have kids at age 15. And sometimes they're like “ostia qué miedo me vas a echar una maldición gitana?” (una maldición no pero igual te doy un guantazo por pesao, en plan sé más original). The Romani witch stereotype is one of the one that bothers me the most. And Drag Me To Hell? Literally every person I've met that's watched that movie is like “oh that movie made me afraid of even talking to gypsies!” So, while I did enjoy it, please remember: that movie is racist af.
