Pictures of you-Chapter 14 (90's Liam Gallagher X Reader)
Pairing: 90's Liam Gallagher X Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff AF, mention of sex, funny (dunno if it's even a warning LMAO), language, maybe a few spelling mistakes
Words: 4010
Summary: January 1999: You and Liam get back together. A little surprise comes to invade your life.
A/N: HEYA ! I am back with chapter 14. I saw your birthday wishes and I thank you a lot ! Fun fact: Standing on the shoulder of giants was recorded not so far from my place and I quote places that aren't far as well (it's like 45 minutes away from my place OMG why wasn't I born earlier). I hope you'll enjoy it !

(OML HE'S SO)
One more and last chance. Liam knew what he risked if he fucked up one more time.
On this year 1999, something or someone came to us. And I was still young enough to think it could save and improve our marriage and relationship. And being on medication, I didn’t think it could be possible. But it was.
When Liam found me in December 1998, we had passionate sex. And at the beginning of January, I was late.
So I went to my therapist, thinking meds were affecting my menstrual cycle. It wasn’t.
He prescribed me ne meds and called one of his colleagues, asking him if he could receive me the same day.
Then, he prescribed me a bloodtest.
I was bearing Liam Gallagher’s child.
January 4th 1999- London
When I went home, Liam wasn’t there.
But he had left a word on the table.
“I’m at Noel’s, brainstorming for the next album, you can join me, and I’d like you to. I love you”
So I was back in the tube to join my husband at his brother’s house.
The only bothering thing were the fucking paps in front of Supernova Heights, even though now, I was used to it.
They took pictures of me and asked me questions, but I stood silent. Meg opened the door and I entered.
Hi Y/N, good to see you!
You too Meg!
She closed the door and hugged me. Nausea took over me.
Oh…
Are you okay?
Yeah. I’m just curious, what’s the perfume you’re wearing?
The usual one, the Lacoste one. Why?
Smells good. How are you doing?
Not so fine…
She started to cry.
Hey, what’s going on darling?
I don’t know, I’m not feeling so fine these days. My sleep is bad, it feels like my life is spiralling out of control.
I’m sorry to ask you this but… Have you been drinking or taking drugs lately?
Drugs, no. But alcohol… yes.
I put my hand on her shoulder.
Stop drinking. I can welcome you in the sober people club.
It’s going to be harder than that. I’m addicted Y/N.
Then if you want to, ask Liam to give you the address for rehab. They’ll help you there.
I’m kinda scared about it.
I know, and it’s normal. But it’s the only way, and Noel will have the right to visit you.
Will you come to see me too?
Of course! I answered
She wept her tears and gave me a weak smile.
They’re in the studio. I’ll make some tea and join you there.
Okay.
Meg went to the kitchen, and I knocked at the studio’s door.
I entered and as per usual, Noel was holding his guitar while Liam was trying to sing what his brother was asking him to sing.
Oh hi cock! Noel said when he saw me
Oh hey me love!
Hey you two. Hope you’re doing fine. Noely, you should go help and cuddle your wife. She needs you. I said
Noel put his guitar on the sofa and got out of the studio.
Liam came to me, hugged me, and kissed me while his hands stood on my hips.
I’m happy that ye joined me. Liam said, smiling
I wanted to, and I also wanted to talk to you. There’s something I want to tell you.
Oh yea? Tell me then.
Well, I’ve been to see my therapist this morning, you know? To talk about the fact that I thought my meds and the probability they’re making me late in my cycle.
Oh yea, and so, does it have any…
No. He sent me to do a bloodtest and see one of his colleagues. He prescribed me some other meds and in fact I’m late because you’re going to be a dad. I said, my voice trembling with emotion
Wot?!
I’m pregnant Liam.
No, that, I understood Y/N. What is it right is how can ye fucking do this to me?
I was stunned, I never imagined he would react like this.
I beg your pardon? I asked
How can ye do this to me?
Hey Liam, I wasn’t alone when conceiving this baby! You were there!
I thought ye were on the fucking pill!
Oh because you thought I kept taking the pill after your fiasco with Lisa?
Oh, here we fucking go again!
Yes, and we’re not done with this, I told you it wouldn’t be this easy! You thought I forgot about it? Well no, and I’ll never forget what you did to me, to us! I clearly wasn’t enough! So yeah, when I left you, I stopped taking this shit that can fuck with my body, because I wasn’t seeing myself fucking another man than my fucking husband compared to you! You asked me if we could start over and that’s what I’m doing, and this baby is the proof of it!
Well it will be without me, thank ye! Liam shouted
Noel had witnessed the scene.
Liam! He shouted
I started crying, my hormones also taking over. All I already was multiplied per 1000. Now it was per 1 000 000.
Fuck you Liam! I shouted
I got out of the studio, running to Noel and Meg’s Garden.
Meg found me there while Liam and Noel were arguing, as per usual.
Hey what’s going on Y/N? Meg asked
For fuck’s sake! I yelled
Meg took me in her arms, as I sobbed uncontrollably.
What did he do this time?
Rejecting me. And the baby I’m bearing. His fucking baby, his child!
You’re pregnant?
Yes. 3 weeks pregnant.
Damn… what a bast…
Meg, please!
Sorry, it’s just… how can he refuse that? Has he ever wanted to have a baby?
I don’t know, we never talked about it. I just thought that it maybe wasn’t the moment, that we were taking our time, that maybe one day we would have kids even if I never thought about it and never thought if I wanted some, which I doubt because the poor kid will inherit my fucking rotten DNA!
Hey, calm damn love! Meg said
She saw I was starting to panic and tried to calm me down.
Meg can ye go to the studio with Liam please? I need to talk to Y/N. Noel said, arriving outside
Sure. I'll be right back.
She went inside but Liam was gone.
Noel sat beside me.
Fag? He proposed
Noel…
I know yer pregnant but ye might need one. It’s only one.
I accepted. He lit mine first, then lit his. I took a drag of the cigarette and exhaled the smoke.
He’s angry at ye.
What the fuck?! I wasn’t alone to conceive this baby! It’s just… It wasn’t planned!
Don’t ye two know birth control?
Oh shut up! I’m going to tell you the same thing I said to your brother. Do you really think I kept taking this shitty pill after he cheated on me and I left him?
Yea, ye’ve got a point.
So I do know birth control, your brother doesn’t, but in what concerns his baby…
I touched my belly
Ye want it, do ye?
Your brother asked me for a new start. This baby is our new start. I never asked myself if I wanted to be a mother. But it happens… why not after all?
I understand. I’d like to have babies with Meg too.
Really?
Yea, but it’s not about me here.
I said what I had to say Noel. I want my new start.
So ye chose its name then? New start? That’s… particular.
I laughed
You’re a twat.
No, I just prefer to see me best friend laugh. He answered with a wide smile
I recognize the Noel I knew. What happened to you these past few years?
I stopped doing drugs. It was destroying me, and I was hurting people. I also slow down on alcohol. I was mean and wasn’t myself because of this. Soz for being such a prick Y/N.
It’s okay. It’s good to see you like this though.
But I don’t mind a little spliff from one time to another.
Oh you know, as long as it’s not cocaine or some shit like that…
Yea.
What should I do with your brother? How should I act?
Talk to him. That’s the only way with Liam.
*
When I got home, Liam wasn’t there. He only came back at midnight, completely wasted.
I heard the door slam shut, which woke me up. He was holding a bottle of rum in his hand.
Where were you? I asked calmly but worried
At the pub.
Celebrating something?
More like drowning me despair with beers and rum.
What despair?
Ye wouldn’t get it.
If it’s about the baby, I…
Yes, it’s about the damn baby!
Liam almost fell, but I caught him.
Okay Smirnoff, sit down and let’s have a talk. And stop sipping your rum, you need to have you mind cleared.
There’s nothing to say Y/N, what can I fucking tell ye?
I don’t know. Talk to me. Why are you so fucking angry about the idea of having a baby with me?
I’m not angry about ye.
Then who?
Me fucking father.
What does he have to do with all this?
Fucking everything! I’m so fucking scared Y/N!
What? But… why?
What if I’m a bad father, huh? I won’t be violent with me own kid but… what if I make fucking big mistakes?
I put my hand on his.
You will my love. And I will too. They won’t be big, but we’ll make mistakes. Together. Nobody’s perfect Li’. But what I know is that you’ve never been a wife and kid beater.
Liam looked at me, with tears in his eyes.
No. But I already hurt ye, and I don’t want to do it again, nor hurt this kid. I just can’t.
You won’t. We will work on this. You asked me for a new start, don’t you think it’s our chance? I know it wasn’t planned, I know we never talked about it, but did you ever think about having children?
I did, I even recognized Molly even if I don’t… Shit, soz me love.
It’s okay. What has been done is done. You have a daughter and I think that’s a good thing you recognized her.
I’m just shitting me pants. That’s all. But I fucking want this baby with ye. I wanted it since the moment I laid me eyes on ye. Breeding ye, putting a baby in ye, see ye grow it, see how even more beautiful ye would be while bearing me baby…
This time, I was the one to have tears in my eyes. I kissed my husband before they could spill.
What an adventure it is to be with you, Liam Gallagher.

June 16th 1999- Saint Raphaël- France
We were now in France where Oasis were recording Standing on the shoulder of giants in Montauroux, a few kilometers away from where Meg and I we established our headquarter.
Saint Raphaël was a little city located by the sea. We could shop, eat, take sunbathes, see gigs from French artists…
Of course, we visited other towns and cities around when I wasn’t taking pictures. But we both had a crush on Saint Raphaël.
On this day, we decided I would drive us to the beach in Fréjus, just next to Saint Raphaël. It was our “day off” in a way and Meg absolutely wanted us to go without the boys.
I love your swimsuit! Meg said
Thank you! I had trouble to find it actually.
Why’s that?
Because most of the swimsuits for pregnant women are absolutely horrific.
Oh, you should tell me where you bought it then.
It took me a few seconds before realizing what she meant.
Wait a second… Are you telling me you’re…
She nodded, a big smile on her face.
Yeah, I’m pregnant.
I screamed with joy and hugged her.
Oh my god I’m so happy for you! when are you due?
January. You’re the first to know so don’t say anything. I just wanted to tell you first because I find it so exciting for us to be pregnant at the same time.
It is, indeed!
And what about you? Your belly grew up so fast!
And yet, it’s not over!
Do you know about the gender? I didn’t ask before because I felt it might have been indiscrete.
Meg, you’re my beloved sister-in-law and my friend, don’t hesitate to ask! And to answer you, I have an appointment in two days in Nice. Liam will accompany me. I think we will know there.
That’s cool! Have you started thinking about a name?
Not yet. Liam and I we want to wait to know about the gender first so we won’t have to look for boys and girls names at the same time.
I understand. And what’s your feeling? Boy or girl?
I don’t know. The baby hasn’t kicked yet. I’ll probably know when I’ll feel the strength of its kicks. I said caressing my growing belly
If this baby is this calm, it’s probably a girl.
Dunno. And what about you? I know it’s too early to say since you’re only a month pregnant but what does your maternal instinct tells you?
Oh I think probably a girl. And you’re the one who made this happen. Thank you, Y/N.
Oh stop Meg, I only have a little part in all this, you know? You have to thank yourself first. You’re the one who made this happen. You decided to go to rehab and be cured. I was just a little help.
*
June 17th 1999- Nice- Nice Hospital
I’m panicked Li’.
Like fer every ultrasound. Don’t worry baby, ye know the baby is healthy. Ye would feel it if there was summat wrong.
You might be right.
I am, me.
The doctor arrived and made us enter.
So Mrs Gallagher, how have you been feeling since last month?
Good, merci doctor.
Anything to report? Is the baby moving?
I haven’t felt it move yet. Is it normal?
Oh don’t worry about this, it will come very soon, some are just lazy. He said chuckling
I smiled and even though I didn’t like his comment, insinuating my baby would be lazy.
She’s panicked everytime we come to see ye. She’s scared that something might be wrong with the baby.
Mrs Gallagher, you would be the first to know and feel if something was wrong with the baby, I can promise you. But still, we’re going to control this, like each month.
So it was time for echography. Liam was sat by my side, holding my hand to reassure me.
Your baby is as healthy as the last month. And I remember what exactly you wanted to know. I’m happy to say you’re expecting a healthy baby boy!
Liam and I both looked at each other and kissed. I think deep down, Liam felt relieved to know we were having a boy. I felt him worried about the idea of having a girl. And boys are easier to educate. Or so I thought.
*
What about Liam?
No Liam, we’re not calling our son Liam, calm your fucking watermelon head for a second.
Hey don’t swear, he can hear you!
Oh yeah, so true, he’s going to come out of me screaming “fuck”! I answered sarcastically
Liam sighed
Paul.
No.
John.
Too basic.
George.
No way my boy’s gonna have a gramps name.
Ringo.
Are you done quoting the Beatles’s names? Ringo isn’t even his real name, it’s Richard and there’s no way for my son to be called Richard.
Sid.
Hell no.
Mick.
Don’t even start me with the stones’s names. I’m thinking about something but I’m not even sure you’ll like it.
He rolled his eyes.
Tell me.
What about Lennon?
Lennon?
Yeah, Lennon. So you can always call him after your favorite Beatle.
Lennon… Lennon Gallagher… Yea… I like it! Fucking cool name!
Yeah, I also love the way it sounds!
John Lennon Gallagher…
No. Only Lennon Gallagher.
I was joking ye knob. He answered smiling
Wanna test? I asked
What d’ye mean?
Talk to him. Let’s see if he reacts.
Liam smiled and approached his face from my now kinda big belly.
He left a kiss there and caressed it.
Oi you, yer mam and I we decided to call ye Lennon. D’ye like it? It’s like… biblical and godlike man.
The baby didn’t react.
I think that’s a no. I said chuckling
Liam took a big inspiration
Oi Lennon! Liam spoke closer to my belly, almost shouting
I felt him jump inside me and he gave me a big kick that hurt me.
Geez Liam! Don’t fucking do this! I laughed
Ah see? He reacted!
You woke him up for fuck’s sake, he was asleep! You traumatized him and it hurts me!
Soz!
I put my hand on my belly, caressing it.
It’s okay baby. You have to know that your dad is always very loud. But don’t worry Lennon. Your dad is also very kind, and you’ll have fun with him, and he won’t traumatize you anymore. Don’t you Liam?
Oh fuck off! I didn’t do it on purpose! He said, laughing
Yes you did. You wanted him to react.
Liam opened his mouth to answer, but nothing came out of it. Until…
Yea. Soz. Soz Lennon, I just wanted ye to react.
The baby kicked.
I think he forgives you. I said, smiling at my husband.
Someone knocked at our bedroom’s door.
Wot? Liam shouted
Noel opened the door.
Our kid, I have bad news. He said
What is it? I asked
Bonehead is leaving the band.
Oh shit.
*
September 12th 1999- London
We were back in London since Oasis had finished their album, without Bonehead and Guigsy who had left the band. Liam was deeply affected, while Noel was selfish and angry, just thinking about “they left the band” and not why they did.
They still were in studio with their producer to make the final arrangements.
It was around 6pm this evening when it started. I was shopping baby stuff with Meg and for her since she learned that Noel and her were expecting a baby girl.
I had small contractions but nothing unmanageable.
Oh my god, Y/N, look at this cute jumper!
Very cute indeed! But this one is even more cute! I said, showing her one with a baby unicorn
I’m taking it!
No, I do! What am I going to offer you otherwise?
Okay, I don’t insist!
Then suddenly, a big contraction. I put my hand on one of the racks and exhaled loudly.
Are you okay? Meg asked
Yeah, the baby is just acting up. Did you find the teddy bear for my son?
Yeah, follow me, I found it in the plush department.
I followed her, starting to walk but it started to hurt even more. I bit the inside of my cheek not to show my pain.
Here it is.
Oh my, this panda is so damn cute! I said
So you don’t want to buy a teddy bear anymore then?
Nope. I have a crush on… Oh fuck, look at this cat’s one!
Make up your mind! Meg said laughing
I did! It will be this holy cat!
And the second after I said that, there was a sound of liquid running on the ground.
What was that noise? Meg asked
It took me a few seconds before understanding this noise actually came from me.
Huh… I think my water just broke. I answered
*
The Portland Hospital-London
Here I was, panicked and waiting for my husband to arrive.
Meg was with me, and she had called Noel so he would tell Peggy, who took the first plane to London with Paul.
Your pain on a scale to 10? Meg asked
I’m fine darling! The baby is not coming no…ouch.
I’m sure it’s a 10.
Not far. I said, wincing
Liam entered without knocking which scared me.
For fuck’s sake Y/N, are ye okay?
Yes love, don’t worry. I’m not fully dilated yet.
Did ye ask fer the episcopal?
Epidural Li’. Epidural.
Yea, whatever, did ye ask fer it?
I’m not dilated enough yet. So at the moment, it’s only pain and I.
Hi Liam, happy to see you! Meg said sarcastically
Soz, hi Meg. Noel is en route for the airport to welcome mam and Paul.
That’s good. I can’t wait to meet my nephew.
Well actually your nephew is kicking my ass! I groaned
It’s almost over baby. It’s almost over.
Oh I believed him, but he was wrong. 20 hours later, I still didn’t give birth. I was exhausted, crying and in pain. So I beg for the epidural even if it involved syringes which has always been my phobia.
I felt a lot more relaxed after this. Nurses and the midwife came to take me to the delivery room.
Wait! I want to stay with her! Liam said
Liam, it’s not yer place. Peggy answered
I want to stay the fuck with me wife, mam.
Do you think you’re strong enough? the midwife asked
Of course I am! Who d’ye think I am?
A man. And usually men faint in the delivery room. She answered
I won’t, me.
Y/N, do ye want him by yer side? Peggy asked me
I don’t give a flying fuck, get this baby out of me! I cried
I think that’s a yes.
24 hours after entering the hospital, on September 13th 1999, I gave birth to a wonderful son.
Liam didn’t faint until he saw our son. Peggy gave him a big slap and he immediately came back to earth.
I could finally hold my little Lennon in my arms and oh dear he was beautiful. I started crying while observing him, he looked a lot like his father.
We were out of the hospital at 10 pm.
While I was sleeping, Liam took a glass of whiskey and our son in his cosy with his cat plush and went outside to smoke a cigarette.
When he was done, Lennon started crying. Liam immediately took him in his arms, rocking him.
Shh little one. We don’t want to wake yer mam, do we?
Liam put his little finger between Lennon’s lips who started to suckle it.
Liam was still panicked of being a dad. But when he saw his newborn son in his arms open his eyes, his fear increased.
He kissed Lennon’s forehead.
Liam was a father, and he would never let anyone touch his family.

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
➟ Hanma x mom reader [timeskip]
➟ I promised y’all some Hanma fluff in the middle of the week, last week !!!
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
“Fuck” his head swiftly turn to look up at his father who was pushing him. “No papa bad word !!!” You hear your son yell out from behind you in the stroller. “Yes shuji, bad word” you tease looking behind you and bouncing your eyes from your toddler to your husband. “Papa bad word” your son continues to repeat. When the toddler goes silent you turn around to see him in his fathers arms. “Papa no bad word” he whispers to Hanma.
Smiling you push the stroller to let them have a father-son moment and you go back to looking at the aisles of different toddler costumes. “Do you wanna be a lion or do you wanna be like daddy ? Like all bad ass and will beat the total shit out of people” Hanma shines his son the brightest smile.
His smile and words weren’t helping the fact that his gun peaked from under his shirt when he raised his arms with his child in them to pretend like he was flying. Seeing it from the corner of you eye, you move the stroller to cover his back but of course the people around you saw the black magazine with the silver engraved initials that stood for Hanma Shuji.
A lady yanked her child from next to you as you were helping him reach for a transformers costume when she saw the gun. She rushed her ass out that aisle hoping that no shooting would happen while she was there. “Mommy I want that one” “no no, baby we’ll go somewhere else” you could hear her trying to use her hushed voice but with her being alarmed the hushed voice never came.
“PAPA BAD WORD” your child yells at the top of his lungs slapping his little hand in the middle of Hanma’s face. Hanma stood straight, still with the little hand on his face. “Okaay, I’ll take him now” you chuckle taking the boy from his fathers arms.
“Ouch” is all Hanma says smiling at his son who looked away like he didn’t give one single fuck and threw his short arms around your neck to hug you. “Aweee my baby loves me” you coo kissing your sons head. “Don’t worry about your dad….can’t teach an old dog new tricks” you throw your husband a shady look that your son copied.
“So I’m the bad guy !?”
“Asked the man with a beretta in his pants ~” you sing continuing to poke fun at him.
After a little while you felt a light weight on your shoulder and noticed that a little someone was asleep. Hanma also noticing he volunteers to take him for you so you could finish up. “Okay so I have this one and this one” you pull out two costumes showing them to the tall male.
“I don’t know. Take them both (?)”
“I’ll take this one then” you look through the costume in your right hand and put the one in the left back up on the rack.
“Notice how there aren’t many people here” Hanma bends to your height when you to get to checking yourselves out.
“That’s a good thing. Less people to interact with”
“I mean yea. Though I wouldn’t mind talking to people” Hanma may be a gang member but he loves the idea of talking to people. He’s just a social butterfly who even if people don’t talk to him he’ll take it upon himself to start a conversation.
Behind you was a couple who saw your baby boy and fawned over him. “He’s so cute” the lady coos and the man smiles agreeing. Their smiles falter when Hanmas hand runs through his hair and they see his tattoo. The sin part of the tattoo wasn’t all too appealing to them but they didn’t care much since they started to talk to Hanma while you payed.
“It was nice meeting you guys. Take care~” Hanma smiles and waves walking behind you. “They were nice” he chimes walking to the car.
Tumblr media
Now with your little monster awake again, you showed him the costume you got for him. He portrayed the same excitement as his father when something peaks his interests. Having a child knowledge of Halloween - all he knew was that he got to put it on and ask for candy - that making him hurry you up to change him into the costume.
All dressed up in his bear costume and a small portion of his nose painted black and the bear like feet that came along with the costume you take a few quick pictures of him. “Let’s show papa ?” You take his hand leading him to Hanma who was located in the living room no other than with his glasses on and shining up the same gun he had in his pants.
Seeing you walk in with the baby, he quickly shoved it under a cushion and gives you all his attention. “Papa papa ‘ook” the little bear runs to the front of his dad to show case the costume. You catch up, sitting down next to Hanma. Seeing his son happy and giggling was Hanma’s happiness. Along with you by his side, he didn’t mind having small pitter patters sound around the house.
“How does a bear go, baby ?” You ask bringing up your hand, making them look like claws by bending your fingers
“Rwar” the boy brings up his hands as well and roars cutely. Hanma hearing this, his heart overloads with cuteness. His eyes start to tear from seeing his child impersonate a grizzly and dressed up as one. “D-did you see that” his voice cracks turning to your smiling form.
“H-he said rOWr” his voice cracks again bringing you into a hug to hide his now red face.
“I have the cutest son ever !! Do it again, bubs”
“RWAR” the child giggles seeing his fathers reactions
“OH MY GOOODDDDDDD HE’S SOOO FUCKING CUTE !! 🥺😩”

Can u write a fic where poppy walks in on chloe and bea in the middle of a hookup?
I hope you enjoy. Thanks as always for the request. :)
Warnings: Cursing
It should have been me
The week was never-ending. The pressure of everything was resting on Bea’s shoulders and she was so close to being crushed. Her insomnia was spiking again and no matter how much she wanted to sleep it wasn’t happening. Some days she was so exhausted it felt like someone else was living her life. It was like being on autopilot most of the time. Being sat in her poli-sci class just added to the feeling of suffocation. She stared at the clock on her laptop, begging for it to go faster. Finally, the professor finished and released the class. Bea gathered her things messily into her book bag and ran off.
As she was walking out the room she bumped into the only person who likes to make her day worse.
As she was walking out of the room she bumped into the only person who likes to make her day worse.
“Still don’t know how to walk Farmsville?” Poppy looked Bea up and down. Normally she would be excited to fuck with Poppy but she felt like she was being crushed from within.
“Poppy as much as I love banter today is not the day.” Bea started to walk past Poppy, but she stepped in front of her.
“What is up your ass today Hughes? You look like you haven’t slept in two weeks.”
“I haven’t been sleeping if you really want to know. Is there anything else you want from me, Poppy?”
“I know it must be bad because you used my regular name and not a nickname.” Bea was surprised she mentioned it. She thought Poppy hated when she would call her nicknames. Her heart fluttered a little. Poppy’s phone started to ring, she answered.
“Yes, dad. I know I will be there soon. Wouldn’t want to keep the boring businessman waiting.” She hung up her phone. “Sorry Hughes, I gotta go. I uh– hope you feel better.”
They parted ways and Bea continued her walk to her dorm. She was enjoying the feeling of the sun on her skin. Sometimes if she was lucky and the breeze was just right it would feel like being back home on the farm. She would lay on the hill just a short walk from the house. The grass was plush and it would be the best place to stargaze at night. Some days she felt out of place at Belvoire. She needed to get away even for a little.
Bea hopped on her motorcycle and went to a small bar she found on her own one day when exploring the city. She drove about forty-five minutes away, it was nice because there was usually no one who would recognize her there. She went up to the bar to get a drink.
“Hey, Bea. Want your usual?”
“Yea Tish. I appreciate it.” Bea made sure to tip heftily. Tish was always such a kind soul. There had been many times when she would give her advice. She was like a mom away from home. She never made Bea feel bad or put pressure on her.
Bea went to the back in her favorite booth. She enjoyed a couple of drinks when the DJ started setting up karaoke. She loved watching the patrons sing after way too many drinks.
One of the regulars was poorly singing ‘Misery Business’ when someone caught her attention. It was a familiar platinum blonde. The bar was a simple dive bar so she was amazed that Chloe St.James was there. She looked like she was wallowing just as much as Bea was. Maybe it was the drinks in her system, but she decided to go over to her classmate's booth.
“Hey, Chloe.”
“Oh god can this day get worse? What are you doing here?”
“I thought this is where people come to escape Belvoire and be sad. Though I thought I was the only one who knew about this place.”
“I told my driver to pick a bar and this is where we ended up. Well, are you going to sit down Hughes?”
“Considering you hate my guts I didn’t think you would want me to.”
“I don’t necessarily hate you. I was just doing what I thought Poppy wanted. It’s sad, but the only reason I do half of the things I do is to please Poppy. When we started being friends things were so different. Now I am just a minion to her. Sorry for oversharing. Sometimes I feel so alone. I am supposed to be this tough person, but it just leaves me feeling empty.”
“I know what you mean. For different reasons of course, sometimes I just feel so suffocated. From the pressure from my parents and having to be on edge all the time because people are watching. I felt forced into my major by my parents. You don’t have to apologize Chloe. If I can help someone feel a little less lonely I will do it. Even though we used to be or are enemies.”
“I’m surprised, Hughes. You seem so together.”
“I am just good at hiding it.” Bea raised her glass. “A cheers to all the lonely hearts tonight St. James.” They clinked their glasses together and took long sips of their drinks.
Chloe and Bea talked for a while, they got to know each other on another level. Bea had a brilliant idea after they talked about the music they liked.
“Chloe I have an idea, but you can’t say no.”
“I don’t think I like the idea of this.”
Bea grabbed Chloe’s hand and took her to the stage where karaoke was going on. Chloe’s cheeks felt warm, but it wasn’t from the alcohol. Talking to Bea has really allowed her to see her for the first time. She knew everyone found Bea attractive. Yes, she was beautiful, but there was so much more to her. She was a kind soul who cared for people even if they weren’t friends. She did it out of the kindness of her heart.
The music played and Bea took the lead. Chloe looked out at all the eyes and froze. She usually dropped charisma, but something about this setting made her freeze. Chloe felt a hand on hers and she realized Bea had grabbed her hand. She turned to Chloe to look at her. Chloe felt safe with Bea. They looked into each other's eyes as the song played. The last note played and they were closer than the start of the song. Bea leaned in and soon Chloe closed the space between them. Their lips met slowly at first. After long kisses, they realized they were still on stage and went back to the booth. They got off the stage back to their booth not talking about what just happened.
“Shit my phone is dead.” Chloe had no way to contact her driver to come back.
“I can give you a ride back to Zeta.” Chloe thought about just walking to her Dad’s office, but it was way too dark now. She couldn’t remember her driver’s number if she wanted to, so calling off another phone was out of the question. Chloe tried to think of any other options but figured Hughes was her way home.
“Thanks, Hughes.”
Bea went back to her motorcycle and handed Chloe her helmet.
“There is no way I am wearing this.”
“Well if anything were to happen to use it would help your head stay intact.”
Chloe quickly put on the helmet. Bea mounted the motorcycle and Chloe got on behind her. She held on to Bea rather loosely. “You are going to need to hold on tighter than that. I can’t go losing you in the middle of the drive. “ Chloe increased her pressure and could feel Bea’s defined muscles through her shirt.
Bea drove them to Zeta and walked Chloe to the door.
“You didn’t have to do this, Bea.”
“Of course I did. Wouldn’t want anything to happen to you. Who would I do karaoke with then?” Chloe couldn’t help but smile. Bea was a good person. She felt guilty for how hard she made it for her.
“Bea I am sorry for everything I did at the start of the year.”
“Don’t worry about it. All water under the bridge.” Bea turned to leave. Chloe let her guard down and grabbed Bea’s hand. She pulled her into another kiss. Their short kisses turned longer and more passionate. She pulled Bea into Zeta and guided her into her room. Quietly closing the door, they continued their kiss. Bea took off her jacket and threw it onto the ground. Chloe helped her take off her shirt and kissed her neck. Bea helped Chloe out of her sweater. They landed on the bed with clothes thrown on the ground. They were so focused on each other that they didn’t hear the knock on the door. Bea continued to kiss Chloe’s neck, she couldn’t help but softly moan.
The door opened and it was like slow motion. Poppy looked at the combination of clothes on the ground and looked up and saw Bea on top of Chloe. Her throat felt thick and dry. Her best friend was hooking up with the girl she liked. She did everything she could to fight back the tears. She hurried to close the door and run out. Bea grabbed her clothes and threw them on and ran after Poppy.
“Pops, hey are you okay?!” Her dad always taught her to show no emotion so people couldn’t use them against her. This time though she didn’t care. Her tears had already released before she could get to her room. Bea grabbed her hand to turn her around.
“Don’t touch me, Farmsville!”  She snatched her hand back from Bea’s grasp.
“Pops talk to me.”
“What is there to talk about? You and my best friend are hooking up. Why her?”
“What?”
“I said,'' Why her? What does she have that I don’t?”
“Why does that matter, Poppy?”
“Because it should have been me! I thought maybe you felt the same way, but I was wrong.” Poppy couldn’t stand to be around Bea any longer. She ran back to her room and closed the door before Bea could even react to what she just heard. She did like Poppy but figured that the feelings would never be reciprocated. Now she lost her one chance. Now she could only wonder what could have been. She leaned her back against the wall and slid down as the words replayed in her head.
“It should have been me.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n: Hey!! So I'm super excited to share this fic that started out as me sending a cute video to my incredible friend @kidney9-9 until I asked her if she wanted to write this fic with me. Go check all her work, she's an incredible writer, and I'm so lucky to have such a sweet friend. :) Let us know if you like it!! 💖💖
A/n 2: hi y'all hope you enjoy this colab! it was super fun and amazing, please follow and make sure to read my friend's writing! it's all incredible and so cool! :) thank you for reading!💖💖
It was a quiet evening, just relaxing at home with Tom and Sophie, when you heard the familiar strums of a guitar. It was only a few notes at first until you recognized the song that your husband was playing. It was a sweet song with such sweet memories that made you lull into a thought of the past.
As soon as the soft knock on Elsa's door stopped and Anna started singing, your daughter looked at the TV screen as if it was the sweetest melody she has ever heard and it made Tom's heart melt. The way Sophie's eyes were so focused on the screen made you laugh, it's like she was hypnotized. As soon as the song ended, she went running to you and Tom, telling you two how much she loved that part of the movie and the song.
Over the next few days, you and Tom giggled and chuckled about Sophie’s concentration and seriousness in practicing the song. You even watched her as she tried to make a dance routine, it was so cute and precious. One of the days, she even got into your closet and put an old pair of heels on, saying it was her turn to perform. You and Tom cheered her on as she belted out to her new favorite song, telling her how amazing she was.
Knowing how much your daughter loved that song, Tom learned how to play it on his guitar and how to sing the lyrics for Sophie. Tom practiced for that all week, because who cares if he's got to memorize Spiderman lines for the next movie, he needs to impress his baby daughter first. On Sunday he was finally ready to give your daughter the performance she deserved, but what he didn't expect was how much she hated it.
You started recording once Tom gave you the go-ahead and placed the phone down in a steady position on the table. You sat back quietly as Sophie walked into the room, confused at the sound of the guitar. She was usually at daycare when Tom practiced the song, or asleep. Tom chuckled, feeling excited to show her the song he’s been practicing.
Instead of the original “Elsa?” In the beginning of the song, he replaced it with Sophie, and you giggled a bit, glancing over to her. “Sophie? Do you wanna build a snowman? C’mon let’s go and play!” Tom sang, smiling widely as he watched Sophie unfold what was happening.
She struggled to say something at first, making Tom sure that she enjoyed it but the moment she opened her mouth, he realized he was wrong. “NO! NO! Stop it right now!”
Knowing how self conscious Tom gets about his voice you weren't sure if you should laugh at your 3 year old daughter hating her dad singing and playing for the first time to someone other than you. Before you could say something, Sophie turned to her dad who seemed confused about if he should keep playing, knowing how you two have the same weird sense of humor and this could be another one of his daughter's jokes.
Uncertain of his next movement, Tom went back to just playing his guitar, too scared of his daughter hating his voice. Before he could even touch the first string Sophie snatched the guitar with her little hands, shouting out,  ''No more Frozen for you!''
Sophie tried to take her dad's guitar out of his hands, but she realized it's useless to carry something that heavy, instead, she went to her room and searched for the Olaf plush one of her many uncles got her as soon as they heard about her newest obsession. Holding it tight as if it was the real character, she sang to it softly the melody that she loves the most in the world.
Back in the living room, you and Tom stared at each other for a few silent seconds, confused about what Sophie did. “What? I thought she loved that song.” Tom spoke up, a bit dejected and upset. He didn’t understand her reaction at all but he snapped out of his thoughts once he felt you place your hand on his shoulder, after you stopped the video.
“I think she does. Don’t be upset babe. I think she wasn’t expecting that!” You cheered him up, smiling back to him. You didn’t want to laugh in front of him in case that gave him the wrong impression, but you found it adorable that Sophie stopped him that way. You never saw her act that way before, but you could tell she really cared about Frozen.
“Maybe? I’m just confused why she did that.” Tom responded, shrugging back to you. After another moment, you sent him another sweet smile, still finding his song incredible.
“You’re a great singer and guitarist, honey. Maybe she was jealous or something.” You reassured him once more.
Tom still thought that something went wrong with his voice, until you tried to lighten up the mood. ''Did you see how she held the guitar strings to try to stop you from going again?'' You chuckled, and Tom put the guitar aside so that he could put his hands on his face. For a second you were worried that you said something wrong that would make him more upset, but he took his hands off his face. And then you saw that he was trying to hold back his laugh, and that was a sound that you loved to hear. ''I'm just glad she didn't throw something at me''
''C'mon,'' You tried to restrain yourself from laughing, but you ended up joining your husband. ''It wasn't that bad!'' You said while losing your breath from laughing too hard.
''I mean, I'm sure I won't be able to dress up Frozen themed for her birthday next month now.'' He said, understanding that would only make you laugh more. ''Man, I had the dress and everything, even bought the blonde wig on Amazon.'' He pretended to be upset about it, and almost immediately looked at you to see if you were amused.
A few quiet minutes went by before you two heard Sophie’s voice carry through the house. You knitted your eyebrows together, instantly recognizing the tune she was singing and Tom tilted his head to the side as well. “Is that what I think it is?” He mumbled to you as you started to smile more, nodding your head back to his question.
“Let’s go check up on her.” You whispered back, not wanting Sophie to hear you while she sang. You got up from the couch, along with Tom and slowly walked up the stairs, hearing her voice get louder.
“Do you wanna build a snowman? It doesn't have to be a snowman. Go away, Anna! Okay, bye.” Sophie continued, not noticing you and her dad in the doorway. She was playing with her Olaf plushie, making him dance along to her song.
You glanced back to Tom, chuckling silently as he smiled back over to Sophie, proud she was singing. He understood why she acted that way now; that song was special to her and only her. Maybe she didn’t want to hear her dad sing it and possibly embarrass her.
Tom wrapped his arm around your shoulder, clearing his throat once Sophie stopped singing.
As the newest singer in the family stopped her performance, you two sat on Sophie's bed waiting for her to continue while smiling, encouraging her to keep going. When she went back to her little concert, you smiled at Tom while leaning into whisper, ''Watch and learn how your daughter is not shy at all about singing in front of people.''
He scoffed knowing you were just teasing him. ''Please, we don't count. She has seen you cry, and sing, over Louis Tomlinson's solo on History.''
''Hey! That's low, you know how that song makes me cry, it's their last song, it's their goodb-'' Tom stopped you before you told him again how much that song meant to you and the fans. ''Ok ok I'm sorry babe, I think it's a great solo, I'd cry if I was a fan too.'' He said while putting your head on his shoulder. ''Don't talk shit about my boyband, that's my Frozen.''
Tom laughed at your reference, and turned around seeing his daughter suddenly quiet. She climbs on Tom's lap, while you two hug and congratulate her on her amazing performance. Too caught up on the family hug, you didn’t notice your daughter leaning to whisper in her dad's ear.
''Daddy?''
''Yea my love?'' He hummed back.
''What's shit?'' Tom's eyes widened as he looked at you begging for you to help him. You raised your eyebrows at him and shrugged before leaning over to Sophie.
“Don’t know, I heard him say it first.”

Chapter 10 - XOXO, Gossip Girl
[ DS ]
“Man, I thought our staff meeting was never going to end, I was boored out of my mind while Principal Skinner droned oon and oooon about the importance of having the kid’s desks and chairs at the perfect heights!” Sarah pours herself another glass and passes the bottle to Holly, who agrees wholeheartedly.
“I know, how long can a freaking staff meeting take, everyone’s life flashed before my eyes, I thought I was gonna die in that meeting!” I grab the bottle from Holly and refill my glass.
“Yeah, when he started going over the fire hazards, that haven’t changed in the four year’s we’ve been teaching there, mind you, I was about ready to strangle him with my lanyard!”
“It wasn’t that bad guys, you’re being dramatic. I think he made some interesting points in his speech about classroom safety – seems like you’re going to need it with yours, S!” Alex, always the voice of reason, hands out seconds of our clam chowder.
“I know”, Sarah replies, “The first year’s always a clumsy bunch. On Wednesday one of mine, Felix, he managed to skin both his knees and his hands pretty badly. Poor kid, had to be picked up by his dad!”. Suddenly, the bowl of soup in front of me seems like the most interesting thing in the world and I push bits of clam around with my spoon quietly.
Sarah continues with her story: “He’s a cute kid though, very bright and I can tell he’s good with observing other people, judging their emotions, you know? And get this, I get such a kick out of this: His name’s Felix, yeah? and his dad’s name is Fox. Fox and Felix, how cute is that? I love it! And hoo boy, his dad is. A fox, I mean. He’s devastatingly handsome and so charming!”
Holly whistles through her teeth. “Oooh an interesting turn of events, so much better than complaining about the staff meeting!” At the mention of Felix’s dad, a blush creeps onto my cheeks and I continue to silently stare into my soup. Sarah’s right, of course, and my arm tingles again as I remember the encounter. The elephant on my chest is making an encore performance as well.
“You do realize that that’s a pretty inappropriate topic of conversation we’re having, right?”. Alex gives Sarah and Holly her patented raised-eyebrows, no-nonsense look, which makes Holly giggle.
“Great job at sucking out the fun of a conversation, Alexandra!” Meanwhile, I’m tracing figure-eight swirls into my chowder with my spoon, still not contributing to the conversation, praying to God they won’t notice.
“Of course, he’s off-limits to me as one of my student’s dad but I’m sure he’ll be a hit with the moms, single or not.” Holly goes along with her around a spoonful of soup.
“That’s for sure, I’d be surprised if they haven’t roped him into helping out with every. single. function they have planned this year!” Grinning, she turns her attention to me. “Hey Silent Bob, you’ve been awfully quiet over there, what gives?”
‘Oh shit.’
“You’ve met him D, when he came to pick up his son, haven’t you? Back me up over here!”
“Uh huh…yea…” I mumble into my soup, trying my hardest to hide my flaming cheeks.
Holly frowns at me, cocking her head to her side. Sarah shoots the others a confused look. I swallow thickly around a clam, my throat so tight I can feel it pass all the way down to my stomach.
Alex covers my clammy hand with hers. “Are you alright, D?” I can’t even recognize my own voice when I squeak out a high-pitched “Ya, sure…” and a nervous laugh escapes my lips. I feel pathetic.
Sarah’s eyes widen and she gasps, realization dawning: “YOU LIKE HIM!” I want to dig myself a hole right then and there and crawl into it to die. Damn my Irish complexion for betraying me in a moment of need.
I raise my eyes from my soup and look around at their faces. Sarah’s still in shock and stares at me, Holly is wearing an huge grin of unadulterated glee and Alex just looks at me over her glass with a thoughtful expression on her face, waiting for me to continue. “Yeah, maybe I do…” I sigh miserably and shrug my shoulders, swirling the wine around in my glass.
Holly claps her hands together excitedly, startling the rest of us. “Oh Lordy this is gooood stuff, a budding romance graces the sorrow halls of Plymouth Elementary!”. I frown at her exuberance and Sarah wakes from her stupor.
“I know right? Finally, someone to charm that little rainbow skirt right off of D and I think he’d be the perfect candidate to do just that! His little mini-me is already permanently attached to your side at recess, I saw!” The mention of Felix makes me slide down in my chair just a little bit more and I look down into my bowl, embarrassed.
Alex sets down her glass slowly. “Why the long face, D?”
“Well… you do know that this child must have a mother around, as well, don’t you?” I whisper into my spoonful of soup.
Alex nods solemnly but Sarah pipes up immediately: “I think I can help with that. I only ever saw his dad pick him up, except for today, when his mother did. So like the Curious George that I am, I went to admin and looked at his file – I know, I know, I’m too nosey for my own good – his dad is listed as a sole custodial parent.” She looks pleased with herself. A little glimmer of hope settles in the pit of my stomach at her words, he’s a single parent!
“Still, from what I hear from S, the little guy is already pretty attached to you and he’d be caught right in the line of fire when things go south. He’s already been through a divorce, girls.” At Alex’s words, the little glimmer dies an untimely death.
“A, nothing has started yet and you’re already talking about things going south, you’re ruining all the romance!”
As always, Sarah agrees with Holly. “You’re always so unromantic, Alexandra, let her live a little, she deserves whatever it is that’s about to start!”
They’re trying to get a raise out of Alex, but I’m willing to bet that she won’t budge on this. “It’s not about that and you know it. I wish D all the happiness in the world but there’s a kid here, a kid who’s already been through so much and more importantly, who is already somewhat attached. Think about him for a second before you start up anything.” Before the others can start their counter-argument, I interject.
“Guys! Stop! She’s right! Nothing is ever going to start. Besides Felix, you know how small our town is! People talk. And that talk might very well cost me my reputation andmy job!” It’s a pretty lame excuse, but I can’t tell them that I’m completely overwhelmed by my feelings and the whole situation. Overwhelmed and terrified.
Sarah refills our glasses with the rest of the wine. “Are you kidding me, D? You finally stumble across a guy you like and you’re going to pine for him from afar because you’re afraid the town folk are going to dust off the torches and pitchforks?”
I shift in my seat, uncomfortable. “Can we talk about something else? Please?”
“Que será, será, chicas.,” Holly sings under her breath.
Whatever will be, will be.

Spreading Christmas Cheer
Tumblr media
Author: @mega-aulover
Prompt: Everlark the movie Elf [submitted by @alliswell21]
Rating: G
Author’s Note: This is a story based off of the movie Elf as requested by @alliswell21 It’s from “Jovie” i.e. Katniss POV, what she would have seen and fell in love with one Peeta ‘Buddy’ Mellark.
Special thanks to @norbertsmom for her betaing skill and for the name of the story. Parts 3 and 4 will post separately.
_____________
Pt 1
I watch Peeta gently kiss the top of our first born’s head. Holly’s dark hair is braided into two plaits; her blue eyes closing softly.
“And Papa Elf said, grandpa was on the naughty list…” his voice is soft.
Suddenly Holly’s eyes widen as she remembers something. Her blue eyes are laser focused on Peeta. “Papá, es verdad que mamá estaba en la  lista de los niños malos?”
“Y quien te dijo esto?” I ask from the door. We never discuss my role in Peeta’s adventure, or the fact that I was on the naughty list. Ever.
“Santa,” Holly says.
Ese gordo, Santa has loose lips. I think about teaching him about keeping secrets until it’s time to explain to our child about the past. But before I can say anything, Peeta gives me a look. He always knows when I’m having evil thoughts. I sigh, and redirect my thoughts, because Peeta made me believe in love, joy, and Christmas.
“Your papa saved more than grandpa that Christmas. He saved me too.”
Holly’s eyes lit up like her father’s before the sleepiness creeps back into their depths.
“Now go to sleep so Santa can come down the chimney.”
“Night, mama, night papa,” Holly whispers right before she drifts off to sleep.
Together we walk out of our daughters bedroom. Peeta slides an arm around my shoulders. He dips down and nuzzles my cheek. He steers me to the living room. I drag my feet. Peeta is up to something.
“Okay, spill it, Mellark.”
He gives me a wide eyed smile.
The hair at the back of my neck stands up straight.
He’s got that look, that please tell me a bedtime story stare, and not just any story.
“No.”
Peeta pauses and gives me a puppy dog look with a full lip pout.
“No.”
“Come on, Sweetums, my li’l sugar plum,” Peeta says in an excited whisper.
“No…no don’t waggle your eyebrows at me, Peeta. Buddy. Mellark.” I pronounce each one of his names.
Peeta’s grins so brightly; his eyes shine brighter than Christmas lights. His hat is slightly crooked as he hops and does that stupid little dance of his that makes me want to tear off his green tights. Yep, I said tights. My husband was raised as an elf, a six foot two, blond, wavy haired, giant with broad shoulders, washboard abs, and is genuinely sweet. Sweeter than eggnog.
He grabs me by the waist. “You know you wanna,” he says in that sexy time voice of his that’s reserved only for me.
Canasto!
I should clarify for everyone listening to my tale; you should know canasto isn’t a vulgar or bad word. It means basket. But I like the way it sounds in Spanish. So I say it with real vehemence. It’s like peaches in Spanish sounds like a curse word. Melocotón! Tu eres un Melocotón! Which translates into you’re a peach.
I digress.
I let out a big sigh. There’s no way I can say no to him and he knows it! Canasto!
“I love it when you tell the story of how we met from your point of view.“
"You’re an evil gremlin,” I say with no heat in my voice. It’s my personal nickname for him. As in the gremlins when they ate after midnight. However to be fair, if you see Peeta, he’s not scary at all, he’s more like a big teddy bear.
Peeta laughs and my heart flip flops. Because he is anything but; he is so congenial.
Peeta puts his hands on my belly, my very big belly. It’s baby number 2; actually it’s baby number two and three. They are counted as one until they’re born. I know what he’s doing, the evil gremlin! He’s trying to distract me because I’m due to give birth. I have mild pangs because I’m carrying twins and I’m nearing my due date.
He carries me and sits me on his lap. “Now start from the beginning.”
“From the candy cane forest?” I ask.
“No from your point of view,” his eyes dance gently as he rests me against his chest, rubbing my bulging belly.
“Okay,” I say quietly.
“Don’t forget to start with once upon a time,” Peeta insists, trying to contain his excitement.
“Once upon a time.”
“This is going to be good,” Peeta whispers.
“Are you going to let me tell the story?”
“Oh yea,” Peeta placed a kiss on my nose. “Go ahead.”
Closing my eyes I picture the year things changed. Because everything in my life was about others and never myself. I was always trying to be someone else, what everyone expected of me.
It’s hard being a foster kid, and getting out of the system is kind of like getting out of jail. Suddenly you have all this freedom, but you’ve been conditioned to follow all of these rules, so when you are free, you do one of two things. You get in trouble, and try to get sent into an institution; some of us call it the iron college. Or you try to keep your nose clean and learn in the school of hard knocks. In my case, I kept my head above the water for my sister’s sake.
“I love my family,” I muttered underneath my breath.
I muttered it again as my sister destroyed, no scratch that, mutilated Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas."
Did I forget to mention that I love my family?
I do. I love my family and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them, but at that moment I wanted to scratch my ears out with dull spoons.
My perfect baby sister is a smoking hot blonde runway model and the muse for Karl Lagerfeld, but she has the worst singing voice known to man. You want to torture someone, hire my sister, and have her sing to the person you want to torture. Within 3 seconds flat, she can have even the most hardened of spies spilling their guts like a canary.
The one thing I could not stand beside my sister’s singing was Christmas.
I loathed Christmas.
I was not ashamed to say it.  Every fiber of my body I hated Christmas!   If I had ever met the real Santa back then, he had better hoped that I was not holding my bow and arrow, because I would have shot him through the eye. Not that I believed in Santa then, but if I had known there was a real life Santa Claus, I’d have hunted him down, and burned the fat man’s jolly red outfit. I would then gleefully take a joy ride in his sleigh into his workshop like Bill Murray did in Groundhog Day when he allowed the groundhog to drive him off the cliff into a fiery death.
At this point you are wondering why I hated Christmas so much.
There were many reasons why the holiday was so contemptible to me. One, my father died on Christmas day. Two, my mother checked out on us that same Christmas day. The next Christmas Eve was when my sister and I were separated into different foster homes.  It took me a few months to find my six-year-old baby sister. I had been sent to a foster family who used foster kids for slave labor, to have them wipe and clean their floors while the Mrs. of the family spent the whole day in luxurious spas and getting Botox treatments, as if that was going to improve her mug.
My baby sister was luckier. Primrose was placed in a foster home in the middle of suburbia with a 2 story house with a picket fence. A woman named Cecilia and her husband Ronald had never been able to have kids, and they doted on my sister. They brought her up to be the princess she always said she was. Honestly, they were rather shocked when my twelve-year-old cynical self rolled up into their home screaming for my baby sister, Primrose. Prim came running out of nowhere and latched herself on to my leg like an octopus. Best Spring ever, so I do love the Spring.
But before you think we were reunited, we weren’t. The family that had Primrose never wanted me. And even if they did, we technically didn’t have the same last name. Primrose carried my mom’s last name while I carried my dad’s. My sister was Primrose Emmerson and I was Katniss Everdeen. Our parents had a silly agreement. They were also foster kids, so they decided that I would take dad’s name and the next one born would take our mothers name.
They didn’t have family, and her parents lived a common law marriage. Their childish decision caused havoc. There was a mix up and we weren’t processed as sisters. Plus, I never stayed in the same foster home for long so even if they wanted me, they never knew where I was, but no matter where I was, I found a way to talk to Primrose, because as long as Prim was loved and cared for, my situation didn’t matter.
After our brief reunion, I had to go back to the family that I was placed in, and my sister stayed with her family. I didn’t stay with mine for very long; I became a statistic. A rolling number on someone’s computer screen. I was bounced around from one family to another in all sorts of seedy homes.
So you can see why I’m so jaded. Every bad thing that ever happened to me, has happened on that freakin’ holiday. And there was one more reason I disliked that holly jolly holiday so immensely. For some reason, the universe hated me.
No matter where I went, what city, what town within the state, I could guarantee you that it was a racket, a billion dollar racket to make parents crazy and buy things for their kids they didn’t need. For some reason, it pleased people to take my olive skin, dark hair, scowling self and put me into a sparkly Christmas cheer, “gag” pointy eared elf costume.
So with a week until Christmas, I was listening to my sister butcher another holiday favorite song. Then Prim screeched. And I sighed in relief.
"Katniss,” Prim said, coming out of the bathroom. “The water is cold!”
I looked heavenward. “The pipes. I forgot they’re working on the water main outside. They said there would be interruption to service.”
“Oh, you know I can get us a hotel room,” Prim said toweling dry her pale blonde locks.
My studio apartment wasn’t what my sister was used to. She was a freaking couture runway model, six foot one, so slim nothing off the rack fit her. “I’m sorry Prim, I was so excited to see you.”
Prim smiled. “Look, I only have a few hours left. How about I treat you to lunch before I go back up to Connecticut to spend Christmas with Cecillia and Ron.” Prim smiled at me. “You know you’re more than welcome to come. They always ask about you.”
I loved my baby sister. She was amazing. And I was damned glad that the Henderson's were an amazing couple, but I knew the score. They didn’t know what to do with me. “As long as you don’t mind me wearing my elf costume.”
Primrose chuckled. “You make the cutest elf though.” She patted me on the head using a baby tone with me. Prim was taller than me by a foot. I was tiny, or as Prim said, compact size.
“I could still put you over my knee, little duck,” I growled. “Así que mira ver.”
My sister laughed and she delighted in taunting me. Prim no longer spoke Spanish, but she understood the language. “You’re adorable when you’re angry, an angry little elf, aren’t you?”
“Primrose,” I said in Spanish. I rounded my ‘r’s’ when I said her name.
“Awe, I don’t don’t get why you hate Christmas so much.” Primrose winked going to the screen divider to get dressed. My sister was used to dressing and undressing in front of dozens of people. I, on the other hand, was not so free with nudity. Primrose said I was a prude. If I hadn’t I told her to use the screen, she would have changed right in front of me.
“Did you know there are only three jobs an elf can have,” Prim said from over the screen.
I sighed. Unlike me, Primrose loved Christmas. Hell, she even suggested that there might be a real Santa Claus. I told her the only people who look for ways to sneak into people’s houses were criminals.
Prim continued her story about elves. “The type of elves that live in trees and make cookies, the types that make shoes, and the best type.”
“Let me guess, Christmas elves,” I said, rolling my eyes.
Prim grinned. She came around the screen wearing thigh high red boots, jeans and a camel tunic sweater that looked like cashmere. “Come on sis, let me treat you to breakfast so that you can go terrorize the children of Macy’s toy department.”
  Pt 2
Peeta grins excitedly, breaking the narration. “You know she’s right. Papa says the cookie elves have high insurance premiums because their tree catches fire all of the time.”
“Peeta,” I huff. “Do you want me to finish the story?”
“Absolutely,” he hugs me closer. “I’m so sad you and Prim never got to grow up at the North Pole with me.”
I can’t help but smile at his sincere wish. “Oh Peeta,” I kiss his cheek.
“The only thing I would never let you do was toy testing,” Peeta whispers.
I chuckled. Peeta hated Jack-In-The-Box’s. They scare the dickens out of him. I lay my head on his shoulders. “Are you going to let me finish the story?”
“You know,” he says, blue eyes twinkling. “I’d spotted you in the city that first day.”
“You were jumping across the lines of the cross walk, “ I grin at the memory.
“I followed you until I saw the Empire State Building. Then I went to see my father.”
“I know,” I caress his face.
“Start from that point.”
“Okay, you ready now.” My babies were moving in my belly.
“Right, you were in your father’s office delivering the most awkward Christmas gram.”
Peeta chuckles. “I don’t have your pretty voice.”
I sigh. “Peeta.”
“Right, I’ll be quiet.”
I give him a look.
“But just so you know, when those guards told me to go back to Macy’s, I was curious as to why you were dressed as an elf.“
I roll my eyes. Did I forget to mention my husband is a talker. He is a chatterbox. I swear Peeta is the type who’d make friends with a paper bag.
"I thought your elf name was so pretty,” he sighs happily.
“Peeta, if you want me to tell the story. You have to hush!” I admonish, if I didn’t we would be here until tomorrow.
“Oh,” he gushes. “Yes, tell the story.”
“So, there I was in the middle of New York, like a morsel in shark infested waters. I.E….”
“That passion fruit spray is horrible,” Peeta grumbles. “I do not know how women drink that stuff.”
I want to laugh. There are still things that Peeta doesn’t understand about human society; perfume was one of them, and that fact endeared him to me.
“Can you start at the moment our eyes met?” Peeta gives me a wobbly smile.
Ah, now I know why he’s interrupting so much. “Okay.”
Sighing I recall that day. Prim and I were out to breakfast. She was harping on me to find someone. Did I fall to mention Primrose was only twenty years old at the time, and at that age I was ancient at the tender age of twenty six. Seriously twenty-six. So what if I had never dated, never had a boyfriend, and never kissed anyone. My sister was right. I was a prude, but I’d seen how love could screw you over. My mom never recovered and she died alone in some home of a broken heart. All I had in the world was my sister. My Prim, and she was the only person I would love. Until that afternoon.
“Seriously Katniss, you’re twenty-six,” Prim said.
Eye rolling was a national pastime when speaking to a glamazon who thought I needed to date.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me,” Prim said, removing my sunglasses. “And also, sunglasses in the middle of December, so not tre chique.”
Eye roll, eye roll, eye roll. Fake smile. CANASTO!
“You are the worst,” Prim hissed.
I knew my sister wasn’t mad at me. Annoyed, yes. Mad, no. “Prim, it’s just I’m not interested in dating anyone.”
“Katniss, I just don’t want you to impersonate elves for the rest of your life, and when you’re like forty-six, you’ll realize you’re alone with a cat, who pisses in your shoes, and scratches your furniture.”
I moved to pay our bill.
“No way,” Prim said, slamming her hand on the bill. “I make what you make in a month in two hours of work. This is on me.”
“Fine,” I grumbled.
“Also, stop closing yourself to Christmas. Santa isn’t going to leave you anything under the tree.”
“Like Santa exists,” I snorted.
Prim gasped. “You take that back. Santa Claus is real Katniss, just like the rainbows, and pigs and frogs having a long term, caring relationship, and love exists.”
My sister’s wide eyed passionate confession shook me, but the only words that came out of my mouth were, “a frog and a pig?”
“Miss Piggy and Kermit are together, and if they can make it, no matter what the media says, anything is possible.”
“Huh,” I said, leaving the luncheonette near Penn Station. We walked to the corner, where she’d take the stairs to the lower level.
I took a look at the stairs, knowing this was the moment I would say goodbye to my sister once again. My eyes filled with unwanted tears. I could still recall the little girl with the untucked shirt that looked like a duck tail. It’s where the nickname li’l duck came from.
“Don’t cry,” Prim whispered. “Quack, quack.”
“I hate it when we have to say goodbye,” I said quietly.
“It’s not goodbye, Katniss; it’s until the next time.” Prim grinned then she took my elf hat and put it on my head. “Go on, terrify the poor children of the city with your menacing scowl. But you better watch out, better not cry.”
I groaned. “Prim, I would rather hear seagulls squawking then you singing.”
“I know, that’s why I do it,” Prim said.
“You’re a brat.”
“Brat, I’m on Santa’s nice list. You’re the one on the naughty list.”
“There’s no such thing as Santa…” the words died on my lips as I saw a huge man dressed in an elaborate elf outfit jumping on the lines of the crosswalk gleefully. I was struck by the joy on his face.
He looked like an angel with wavy blond hair and innocent blue eyes. It was one thing to see a six-year-old child with that wide eyed innocence, but a tall, broad shouldered man with large hands made me think perhaps he’d escaped his caretakers. His elf outfit wasn’t like the cheap one I had to wear. It was made from a rich fabric with elaborately embroidered gold thread.
If there was something I knew about, it was fabric. I never had soft fabrics growing up and I was obsessed over soft materials. I dreamed of cashmere, Egyptian cotton, mulberry silks, and linens. His green tunic was made from merino wool, like the ones they made in England in those bespoke shops.  Even his hat, although a ridiculous cone shape, was not some cheap fabric covered cardboard that you’d find in a costume shop. It was made from genuine thick green wool felt with a yellow satin ribbon wrapped around it. A red feather bobbed up and down as he jumped.
He was so happy. He looked up, as if sensing my presence. Our eyes met and he smiled jovially and waved at me. My mouth went dry, because, gaw, Canasto!
This man-child was gorgeous.
“Earth to Katniss.” Prim snapped her fingers in my face.
“Sorry.” I looked back to my sister.
Prim looked over her shoulder. “Are you okay.”
I dipped out of my sister’s way. “I think I saw an elf.”
Prim laughed. “It’s Christmas, Katniss. Santa’s elves are everywhere.” Prim gave me a hug before descending the stairs to the lower level of the station.
Seeing my sister go was difficult, but I couldn’t shake the tall man dressed as an elf. He even had on yellow tights with black elf shoes.
I made my way to Macy’s. I could see the Empire State building in the background as I took a left to head to the employee’s entrance.
When I arrived, the floor manager Brutus headed straight to me. He was a ridiculous man with muscles in his neck and a bald head. His meaty fingers held a tiny clipboard.
Brutus did not believe in technology. He refused to use a tablet. He said the muckety-mucks, as he called them, were out to get him. He wore dark brown pants that were too small for his large frame and even when he stood you could see his white socks. He wore a sweater vest with various pens in his front pocket and a cheap plastic necklace that was supposed to look like tree lights.
“Jovie,” Brutus said looking over his shoulder.
“Yes, Brutus,” I smiled. Jovie was my elf name.
“Our last Santa quit, and we have no one, so until then I need you to help out in gift wrapping. Don’t forget to make sure the ribbon curl is six inches.”
“But you need more than six inches, to make a good curl.”
“Six inches.”
Sighing I walked to the station and nodded to the girls who were at the gift-wrapping station. I sat there trying to make six inch curls. People were insane at Christmas; they were stressed out to buy things, and things never made anyone happy. Things were just things.
The line of people got shorter and I noticed the tree in the center of the sales floor was looking a little sad. So getting the ladder, I rearranged the ornaments and noticed one of the lights was out. From this vantage point I saw Brutus drag him in, the elf I saw on the street.
Heat rushed to my cheeks and I focused on the tree, eavesdropping the entire time.
“Buddy, you need to remember you get a half-hour break when you work under six hours and a one hour break when you work over six hours. If I catch you on the floor again I’ll have to write you up.”
His name was Buddy. My lips formed a goofy smile at his name. Up close he was prettier, his wavy hair curled up at the ends. A shiver ran up my spine at all of those curls. I could picture little boys with blond ringlets and a little girl with dark tresses in green colored elf clothing. I held on to the ladder as I swayed.
“Wow, what’s this?” HIs eyes quickly darted to the crowded sales floor.
“This is the north pole,” Brutus said looking at his precious clipboard.
“No it’s not,” Buddy waved at a pair of babies inside of a stroller.
“Yes it is,” Brutus said.
“No it’s not,” Buddy eye’s traveled to the tree and I hid behind it so that he didn’t see me.
“Yes it is,” Brutus put his hands on his wide hips.
“No it’s not,” Buddy said smiling. “Where’s the snow?”
“He’s right, there’s no snow,” a six-year old girl said. She’d been listening to the conversation.
I nearly snorted.
“Why are you smiling like that?” Brutus brows knit together.
“I just like to smile, smiling’s my favorite thing,” he said. Bouncing to the Christmas music that was being pumped through the speakers.
“Well stop smiling, and make work your favorite thing to do. And who gave you that outfit?”
“It’s mine,” Buddy said, splaying those large hands on his chest looking down at his elf outfit.
Brutus looked at the intricate gold embroidery. “Fine, if that’s your story. You should make work your priority instead of shopping.” Brutus sighed, looking at his clipboard again. “I have to make the announcement.”
Buddy nodded, but once more was looking around.
I was working on the tree lights by now and really didn’t want to get down because I wanted to keep staring at him. At his great legs. Normally tall guys had spindly legs. Not his, yum.
“Okay I’ve got an announcement. Santa will be here tomorrow at 10AM. Keep your receipts so you can see Santa.”
“SANTA!” Buddy yelled. He jumped, clasped his hands and a little girl next to him joined him. Soon there was a flock of kids doing the same thing, all speaking at once and he was nodding and speaking to them as if he knew Santa.
I chuckled cause I’ve never seen Brutus look so stunned and speechless. He was carried away by Chaff, his second in command.
Buddy turned and focused on me. I pretended that he wasn’t just a few feet away from me. I could feel his gaze as I fixed the bulb that was not letting the string of lights to turn on. The tree lit up and I swear his eyes seemed to glow brighter than the lights on the tree.
My stomach did a little flip-flop. “What!” I said defensively. I turned and saw how big his eyes were and the genuine smile. “Are you enjoying the view?”
“I love Christmas trees,” he said hesitantly. “It’s nice to see someone else who enjoys elf culture as much as I do.”
Of course the guy that would make butterflies dance in my stomach was a wackadoo. I scowled. This wasn’t happening. Getting down from the tree, I quickly walk away, grabbing a few stuffed animals that were discarded and putting them back on the display.
“Looks like someone needs Christmas cheer and the best way to do it is to sing.”
“I don’t sing,” I muttered.
“Of course you can.” He chased after me.
“No,” I said trying to get him to stop, but liking that he’s walking after me like a wide eyed puppy-dog.
“Anyone can. All you have to do is put a group of words together in a tune,” he said sweetly.
I hopped on up on the stage where the guy in the red suit would be seated tomorrow. I turned to look at him. As I spoke to him, I couldn’t keep the hurt from my voice. Because the last time I sang a Christmas song it was with my dad, hours before he died.  “I know that, I can sing, but I choose not to sing.”
“Look, I’ll do it for you maybe it will make you smile,” Buddy said. He takes a deep breath, “I”M SINGING. I’M IN A STORE AND I AM…”
It was horrible, but I couldn’t help but smile.
“THERE’S NO SINGING IN THE NORTH POLE!” Brutus comes running out from behind the registrar.
“Yes there is,” Buddy says grinning at me. “I’m Peeta.”
“Wait I thought your name was Buddy?”
“That’s my middle name,” Peeta said. “Is Jovie your name?”
“No,” my voice sounds breathy. “Jovie is my elf name.”
“So what’s your real name?” His voice sounded deeper and I swear I could see nothing else but his big blue eyes tenderly gazing at me.
“Katniss,” I said, wondering why my knees were so wobbly. I couldn’t fall for a guy who thought he was an elf. A very good looking, broad shouldered guy with the face of an angel, but nonetheless, a complete wakadoo.
The ten minute warning came on letting people know they needed to go home.
“Oh I’ve got to get ready for Santa,” Peeta muttered under his breath. But before he could move Brutus appears.
“Buddy,” Brutus grabbed him by the arm and hauled him away. I was left standing on that stage with a big old goofy grin on my face.

»»—————————————-
Finally, summer break. It’s been a while since I was able to go home. Having to attend high school rather far from my home in Seoul, I never thought that I’d adjust to the new environment. Fortunately, I wasn’t entirely alone, since I stayed with my aunt for the four years of my high school life. School wasn’t so bad, but the homesickness is what killed it for me. Even though it was my parents' idea to send me a rather vast distance—me not being too excited about it, but I knew I wouldn’t get my way in the end—there was some good that came from it. The two only good things, actually.
I glance outside the train window, the buildings of Busan zooming past me. Sure, it may not be my home, but I won’t lie. I’m really going to miss this place. My phone suddenly vibrates in my lap, glancing down to see a text from my group chat, smiling as I respond.

                                                                                                         Read 4:02 PM
I snort, turning off my phone and placing it back down on my lap as I go back to staring outside my left-hand window again. Meet Cha Eunwoo and Moon Bin, my two best friends. The only reason I got through high school how I did without major setbacks. Sure, there was the occasional homesickness and all, but had I not met these two, I probably wouldn’t have even attended and graduated.
Being so far away from the place I grew up never really suited me, and they saw it right away from day one how lonely and upset I looked. I didn't seem to fit in, especially since I skipped a grade and was placed in classes that were very advanced for me. Not that I minded the vigor, but it was hard for me to socialize, let alone make friends.
That’s when I met them. Freshman year in homeroom before my first literature class. Moon Bin, a boy with parted, coppery-golden hair accompanied by his shy, puppy-eye smile and sweet nature, offered me an empty seat next to him in class, even going as far as to share his textbook and asking how I found the school. No doubt, I was embarrassed and immensely shy, stuttering over my words and failing to meet his soft gaze. However, he didn’t make fun of me nor find me odd. All he did was smile, laughing lightly at my slightly flustered state. He stuck his hand out, introducing himself (most people just call him Moonbin or Bin) with that smile of his, thus the start of our new friendship. Since then, he became someone who always knew how to cheer me up when I was feeling down. No moment was ever dull with him by my side.
Eunwoo, the tall, brooding black-haired and charismatic student almost everyone knew (and crushed on) of, was usually with Moonbin when we hung out together, but he normally kept to himself. Though quiet and sometimes reserved with his intimidating looks, it didn’t take long for him to break the ice with us, the three of us becoming close friends. Promising to stay like this until we went to college and beyond. Regardless if we all diverge and tread different paths, we would always converge and come back to one another.
Four years flew by and graduation was upon us. Just like that, the two became like family to me, my ride-or-die duo. The two who were able to turn my world upside down, finding solace in a time where I thought it was nearly impossible for me to.
My thoughts are interrupted by my “Move” ringtone—yes, I’m a huge Lee Taemin fan—looking down at my phone again to see it’s my brother calling. I sigh, picking up the call.
“What?”
He gasps dramatically. “Is that any way to address your loving older brother after being away for so long?”
I snort, shaking my head. “Loving my ass, oppa. How are mom and dad?”
“They’re fine, living. Didn’t you tell them you’re coming home?”
“Nope, I don’t even text them that often. You already know this..”
He sighs. “Yeah, I figured.”
There’s a slight pause on his end, but he continues. “You took the three-thirty train, right? So you’ll be here around five or so?”
“Yeah, give or take.”
I look out the window again to see the endless stretch of greenery and flowing springs, sometimes even children playing in the fields. I grin mischievously, deciding to poke fun at my brother when he doesn’t respond right away.
“What, you miss me?”
He makes a sound similar to throwing up. “As if. I got so used to the peace and quiet. I’m not ready for it to go away.”
“Yah!” I realize that I had yelled a bit too loudly and eyes were now trained on me, and I bow my head in apology. I lower my voice, “You’re such an asshole.”
“Oh, I know, but you still love me anyway.”
“Shut up.”
I can hear his laugh resonate through the phone and a smile unknowingly tugs at my lips. I wouldn’t say it out loud, but it’s true. When I lived with my aunt in Busan for the duration of high school, I missed Jaehyun a lot. Though two years older than me, he didn’t seem to alienate me the way my parents do. While I hate the notion that they spoil Jaehyun endlessly and let him do as he wishes, I won’t lie and say that he was a prick about it. He could’ve been, but he never came off as selfish. I’m really close with my brother, shocking as it may be. Sibling relationships are like that—one minute you want to strangle them with their intestines and the next you’re singing duets together. Crazy, but that’s how it is for us. My parents don’t really pay me any attention, so Jaehyun decides to do that instead. Not complaining though. I’d rather take his pranking and teasing over my parents’ demands and reprimands any day.
“Aight, I’m heading out for a bit. Text me when you arrive.”
I smile again. “Will do, but make sure to get me food!”
“Let me think…” He hums, and I can practically sense the smirk on his end. “Nope. Get your own.”
“Oppa!”
Jaehyun laughs. “See you in a bit, Hyuna. Get here safely. Bye!”
He hangs up the call before I get a chance to retort, and I scoff. Typical of my brother. He knows how much I enjoy street food, and every time he goes out, it’s almost certain that most of the time he stops somewhere to eat. Did he ever bring food back? Sure, but by the time I’d get to it, most of it was gone anyways. That only lasted a little while before I had gone upstate anyways, so he had more food for himself, I guess.
As the train barrels down the tracks, I feel my heart racing in excitement, but there’s also a slight ounce of dread. I really don’t know why. I want to believe it’s because I’ve been away for too long, but part of me knows it’s the fact that I’ll have to face my parents again. Knowing that I only have two months to decide where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do, I know the bitter truth is that those decisions won’t be left up to me. Last time, I was sent to Busan.
God knows where I’d be sent to now.
***
“Final destination of the KTX Busan-Seoul train at Seoul Station is approaching and will arrive at 05:30 PM. The doors to alight are on the right hand side. All passengers are requested to dismount the train upon arrival. Thank you.”
That’s my stop.
Gathering my bag and hand luggage, I patiently wait for the train to pull up at the station. Seeing the familiar shops and buildings around me makes my legs bounce up and down in both excitement and anticipation.
Four long years away from Seoul...
Before getting off, I quickly text the group chat and then my brother, letting them all know that I’ve reached safely. Side-stepping the other passengers exiting the subway doors, I carefully land onto the platform with my luggage in tow. I breathe in the air around as I stretch my arms up into the sky, the grin widening on my face.
It sure as hell feels good to be back home.
I try my best to maneuver through the crowds, but it doesn’t stop the rush of people knocking into me. At times like these, I curse my genetics for favoring my older brother instead of me in terms of height. Eventually, I come to a clearing and when my eyes glance upwards, I spot a rather familiar dark brown-haired six-foot-tall male amongst the small crowd waving me over.
“Hyuna, over here!”
I gasp, my eyes widening. “Oppa!”
He smiles as I begin walking towards him, my feet hurriedly moving across the concrete. The distance between us shortens and I abandon my luggage as he opens his arms wide.
Only for me to sucker punch him in the stomach.
He yelps in pain, grimacing as he holds his abdomen. “Shit, that hurt. What has Aunt Sua been feeding you up there? Rocks?”
I smack his shoulder, my blood slightly boiling in anger. “Yah, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?! Do you know how much money I blew off for the bus fare?”
He straightens his back before going to rub his shoulder, then behind his neck.
“Fine, fine. My bad. I wanted to surprise you, but I guess that didn’t work, did it?”
I cross my arms over my chest, huffing in annoyance. He sighs, nodding.
“Okay, okay, I’ll compensate you. Dinner’s on me.”
At this I grin, blinking excitedly. I grab onto his arm and shake it vigorously. “Really? You mean it? You’re the best, oppa!”
“Look at this brat..” he taunts, shaking his head. In a flash, he headlocks me and rubs the top of my head harshly with his knuckles, upsetting the neatly-tied auburn ponytail.
“Yah! Quit it!” I smack his arms and flail in protest, but he chuckles, saying this is what I get for cunningly finding a way to exploit him the minute I stepped back into Seoul.
What can I say? It’s a talent.
He lets go eventually, and I try to smooth down my already-tangled hair. I grumble incoherently but Jaehyun pulls me into his embrace, wrapping his arms around me. His free hand gently pats the side of my head in comfort.
“Welcome home, sis.”
I stand there stiff for a second before hugging back. He squeezes me tighter and I find myself smiling into his shoulder.
“Good to be back,” I whisper.
We stand like that for a moment before he pats my back a couple of times, us pulling away from each other soon after. He reaches behind me to grab my hand luggage as he shoulders my bag. I tell him that I can carry them just fine, but he starts walking away from the platform to the parking lot. I call out after him as I run to catch up, and I can see the corners of his mouth twitch. Jaehyun leads me to his car, a sleek matte-silver convertible Mustang. My mouth drops open in shock at its stunning beauty, my body forcing itself to remain composed for the sake of avoiding public self-embarrassment.
He throws my luggage in the back seat before he turns to me, smirking at my expression. “You like it?”
“Shit, do I like it? I love it!” I run my fingers over its metallic surface, the silver exterior gleaming in the evening glow. Grinning, I stare up at my brother who catches my gaze as I stand next to the driver’s seat, my fingers already curled on the handle.
“Can I—”
“No.”
“Please—”
“Nope.”
I pout as I pull my hand away and step to the side. Jaehyun chuckles, rubbing my head playfully before getting into the driver’s seat and starting the car. The engine purrs to life as my brother pulls out his shades and wears them. He looks at me and cocks his head to the passenger seat.
“Don’t just stand there. Get in.”
Smiling, I quickly make my way over to the other side and slip into the passenger seat. I barely have time to buckle in before Jaehyun speeds off. I scream in fright, but he laughs heartily, telling me to let loose.
With the wind harshly whipping around us, I close my eyes and tilt my head upwards, absorbing the remnants of my childhood in a place I’ll always call home. A place where my heart always feels at ease.
My name is Jung Hyuna. I’m eighteen years old, and this is my story.

the innkeeper
Pairing: Sokka x reader & some motherly Katara
Warnings: Cursing, mentions of blood
Authors Note: Someone requested a shy reader afraid of confronting Sokka but I accidentally deleted the request :( So this is for my lovely anon who requested this <3 Also I’ve been trying to make my fics as gender neutral and all that jazz, but please call me out if I slip up so I can fix it!! I may split this into 2 parts, so stay tuned :):)
Prompt: The reader and their family are in charge of the only running inn of the Northern Watertribe. When the Avatar and his friends come to the city the reader finds themselves befriending our favorite Southern Watertribe prince.
Tumblr media
“The avatar is in the city!” your younger sister, Kana yelled running into your room. She grabbed your arm before you could resist and before you knew it she was dragging you to the courtyard. “The avatar? Here?!” you responded, “What is the avatar doing in the Northern Water Tribe?” She shrugged, “I’ve heard some people say he’s here to learn waterbending. I don’t see why though he should be like 1000 years old by now.”
The courtyard was crowded with familiar faces from the Tribe, everyone had seemed to rush just to get a glimpse of the all powerful avatar. Your sister had dragged you to an empty bridge overlooking the mass of people. Suddenly a large fluffy beast entered the courtyard walking next to three kids. “Avatar Aang,” the chief boomed, his voice bringing the crowd to a hush. The youngest of the three, dressed in colorful clothing you’ve never seen before bowed before the Chief. Kana latched to your side overflowing with excitement, “Do you think that’s him?! There’s no way, he’s my age...” You lightly pushed her off chuckling, “Shush up, I can’t hear what’s going on.”
As the Chief’s welcoming speech dragged on you focused on the two dressed in large blue sweaters similar to your current outfit. They both were clearly Water Tribe, but you had never seen them around the city before. The boy was looking around, amazed by his surroundings. You smiled at his giddiness, the smile stretched across his face was so pure and cute. He had deep blue eyes that were shifting every which way. You were so distracted, it took you a second to realize he had glanced up at you. Your eyes met and he smiled offering his hand up for a friendly wave.
“Eeep!” you squeaked squatting down behind the icy railing. Did he notice you staring? Was he weirded out? Obviously he was, who stares at people- creeps! That’s who. That was so embarrass-
“(y/n).” your sister said distracting you from your thoughts, “Why are you on the floor.” she pointed out unamused. You tucked your head between your legs and groaned, wincing at your awkwardness.
***
The inn your father ran scarcely had any customers. Most of the time your customers were either locals or Earth Kingdom generals visiting to discuss the war. All of a sudden your dad’s humble business became the talk of the town. Classmates constantly bugging you with questions, “What’s the avatar like?”, “Have you seen him airbend at all?”, “What are the two from the Southern Water Tribe like?” You didn’t have the heart to say you haven’t met them yet. Your father handled their rooms when they arrived, along with your nosy sister (who threatened to scream bloody murder if she didn’t get to meet the avatar). You on the other hand had been actively avoiding the group, especially the blue-eyed boy.
When people were staying at the inn; which was basically three extra rooms in your home, you were in charge of feeding the guests. It had been a few days since the avatar and his friends started staying at the inn. You were up early in the kitchen chopping the fresh caught fish for lunch, humming an old song your mom used to sing to you. Guests mostly ignored the kitchen, usually preferring to make small talk with the adults and patiently wait for food in the dining room. It was relaxing being safe from meeting new people.
“That song doesn’t sound watertribe.” A voice rose from behind.
Startled you turned around a little too fast and cut the side of your arm with the knife. “Shit.” you exclaimed grabbing your forearm. The boys eyes widened “Ah crap, Katara!” he yelled before running over to your side, grabbing a nearby drying cloth. You stared at him speechless. Would he recognize you? Spirits you hoped not.
“I’m so sorry,” he began blabbering focusing on your arm, his fingers grazing your skin as he pressed the cloth against the wound, “I really didn’t mean to startle you, I offered to bring the dirty dishes back here. The annoying little girl told me to bring them here, I didn’t think anyone would be back here...” His words slowing as he turned to face you. His eyebrows clinched together.
Shit.
“You look really familiar.”
Shitttt.
Before he could question any further a girl with long, brown, braided hair rushed into the room. “What is it Sokka?!” Was that his name? You had never met a Sokka before, maybe it was a common name in the South Pole. “Katara, thank the spirits! We need you to do your glowy-water-magic!” Sokka said waving his hands around. The girl, Katara, ran over bending the water out of her pouch. “What happened?” she asked unwrapping the bloody cloth off your arm.
“Umm, I cut myself. It fine, really.” you said quietly while Katara pressed her hand to your injured arm. The water started sparkling a bright blue hue. You winced at feeling. Katara smiled sweetly at you, “Does it hurt?” You shook your head, “No just feels weird.” As the glowing stopped she pulled away from your arm, bending the water along with her. “Shoot, it’s still bleeding a little.” She said examining your arm, “Sokka, I need more cloth.” He quickly glanced around the room and held out the bloody cloth he used before hand. “One that doesn’t have blood on it.”
“Oh! I got it,” Sokka began unwrapping the cloth tied at the waist of his tunic and handing it to Katara, “Here, use this.” Katara rolled her eyes and began dressing your wound. “I’m sorry I couldn’t heal it completely. I’ve only been taking classes on healing for a week, the wound should be clean now and the bleeding should stop in a couple days.” Her eyes were kind and warm when she smiled at you. “Thank you, I’m sorry I can be clumsy at times.” you murmured looking down at your arm. “I’m Katara by the way, and that’s my idiot older brother Sokka.” she said gesturing behind her. You pressed your lips together in a small smile, “I’m (y/n)”
***
Since then you had grown to enjoy being around Katara. She was sweet and easy to be around. She would often come to help clean after meals, despite you opposing her help several times.
Sokka however, you avoided him like the plague. Not because you didn’t want to talk to him. You wanted to. But you couldn’t stand to face him after embarrassing yourself twice. You knew it would have to happen sooner or later, you still had his belt Katara had used to wrap your cut. It took hours to wash all the blood out but the cloth was finally clean, dry, and folded neatly on top of your bed. Mocking you.
The simple solution would to have Katara take it to him, but then you’d be mad at yourself for running away. Which you had already done. a couple times... There were times you tried to give it back to him, but in the end you would wimp out.
“Oh my spirits, just give it to him.” Kana groaned. “You don’t get it Kana, I was so weird around him he probably thinks I’m a freak...” you said shifting the folded blue cloth between your fingers. “You. are. ridiculous.” she said tightly grabbing your arm, “Come on. We are doing this right now.” She yanked your wrist, dragging you through the hallway. “Wait! Like right now, right now?!” She nodded, harshly knocking on his door. “Yup. SOKKA! (Y/N) HAS SOMETHING FOR YOU!!” she screamed before running off, “Good luck!”
Before you had the chance to run after her, his door swung open. “Uh hi,” he said “was that your sister screaming?” You stammered back “Umm yea, she was just- she uh... I have your belt.” you interrupted yourself holding out the cloth. “Oh, right, thank you. How’s your arm?” You glanced down at the newly wrapped cloth wrapped around your forearm. “It’s doing well, it wasn’t as bad as it seemed.”
“Good. Good, that’s good.” he spoke as he were tripping over each word, “You know, I had been hoping you’d come by.” your eyes widened at the comment, “No, no-no-no, that sounded weird.” He explained, “I meant the belt. It’s my lucky belt so thank you.” You hugged your sides and pressed your lips into a tight smile, “You’re welcome, sorry I took a while to bring it back.”
“It’s all good, I’m just glad you’re here now.” He rubbed the back of his neck, “Hey, so... I haven’t seen much of the city yet and it gets kind of lonely while Aang and Katara are at training. I was thinking maybe you would like to go for a stroll sometime... With me.”
You couldn’t believe he was just as nervous as you. He always seemed so confident around the Inn, you just assumed he would be more outgoing. “A stroll?” you questioned slightly giddy.
“Yea, or a walk, whichever you prefer. Or not. Either is good if you wanted to, but if you don’t that’s okay too. You just seemed like a really cool person and I feel so bad about scaring you and-“
“Sokka. I would love to go for a stroll.” you stopped his rant before he could finish. His smiled widened, “Ok, yea cool. Totally chill... So, I’ll come meet you in the kitchen after breakfast tomorrow?” You fiddled with the sleeve of your shirt, “Yes, I’ll see you tomorrow then.” You said backing away. He leaned against the door frame, waving the same way he did the first time you saw him. “Yea! Tomorrow.”
Sokka spent the next five minutes mentally screaming at his awkwardness.

Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 / Part 6 / Part 7
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Negan had seen you pissed before, hell, he’d seen you down right livid. But he had never, ever seen you so furious you refused to even talk to him. He looked over at you with a small, tight smile as you walked into your messy kitchen, but you didn’t even glance at him as you bee lined past him to grab two coffee mugs from the cabinet.
“Morning, princess.” He dared, but he instantly shut up when you shot him a look that spoke volumes. “(Y/N)...”
“Save it.” You grumbled as you grabbed two K cups from the box on the counter and picked up the entire Keurig as silent punishment. He sighed loudly as you walked back out of the room past Simon, who took one look at the coffee maker in your arms and over at the spot it lived in on your counter, before shaking his head.
“Does the other house have a coffee pot still, or did she take that, too?” He asked with a glance to his boss, who was watching you walk up the stairs back to your room without a second glance.
“I fucked up with her, didn’t I?” You heard Negan ask his second in command before you stepped into the room and closed the door behind you.
“Ye took the whole damn thing?” Chibs whisper yelled as you headed into the bathroom to set the Keurig down.
“There’s a pot in the carriage house.” You said back with a shrug as you plugged your machine in. “I don’t feel sorry for them.”
“Cold hearted.” He chuckled as he made sure the pillows were all around the co sleeper and that Celeste was OK before coming into the bathroom. “No cream?”
“You get it black, or you can go down and deal with my father to get it, your call.”
“Yea, I’m no’ goin’ down ta flaunt the fact tha’ I stayed ‘ere over nigh’ to ‘im anytime soon.” He sighed as he partially closed the water closet door to use the bathroom.
“If it helps at all, he now knows better than to lay so much as a finger on you.”
“It does not.”
“Well you don’t have to see him for a week anyways, so it’s fine.” You said as you stepped over to turn on the shower while the first cup was brewing. “Besides, I need an escort through IRA territory and I’m not trusting my daughter’s life to a prospect. I have a lot of errands to do in the next couple days...”
“Luv...” You looked over at him with your eyebrow raised before following his gaze down to the tattoo on your rib cage that no one but him would know the true meaning of just by looking at it. He smirked as you moved your arm out of the way, and shook his head. “Ye did say ye’d never let me live it down...”
“You tore apart my garden for those lilacs, Filip.” You giggled as you looked at the bouquet of purple flowers in a metal milk can with a tartan patterned bow around it that represented his last name.
“Couldn’t show up empty ‘anded now, could I?”
“No, that wouldn’t have been right.” You whispered even softer as he stepped forward to brush his thumb across the bow.
“Does yer da’...”
“No one knows what it means.” You said with a shake of your head as you shivered from the goosebumps racing across your skin. “Negan asked if it was for my mom when he first saw it because lilacs were her favorite too, and I just nodded and walked away.”
“It’s beautiful.” He said with a glance up at you. “Much more elegant than mine.”
“You got a tattoo for me?”
“Subtle.” He said as he held up his left hand and stuck out his ring finger. “Black band, but your name wore off the side.”
“You’re so cute.” You giggled as you ran your fingertip across what was left of your name. “Who did it? Because that would have gotten back to Negan...”
“I did.” He said as he looked at the left over ink. “Did a stint in prison for possession seven or eight years back. Anniversary’a the last time I saw ye. Took all nigh’ bu’ I needed the pain.”
“We’ll get it re done soon if you want.” You promised as you turned on the water and stepped inside. “Coming? We have a lot of things to do today.”
“So no time for a quickie?” He teased before taking a sip of his coffee, starting yours, and stepping out of his boxers.
“What kinda girl do you think I am?” You teased as you shook an old, nearly empty bottle of shampoo to finish it off. “I wasn’t that easy back then, and as a mother and a woman of class...”
“Oh, shut it.” He laughed as he wrapped his arms your waist and pulled you into his chest. He kissed you gently as you went from washing your hair to washing his, just appreciating being together again. You couldn’t stop your mind from racing in a thousand different directions as he gently lifted you up and pinned you against the wall to slide into you, but by the time you both came, you realized that for the first in twelve years you truly felt safe. You felt at home.
“I still love you.” You said softly as you laid your head down on his chest. “I never stopped…”
“Was I supposed ta stop lovin’ ye?” He asked as he ran his fingers through your hair. “‘Cause even after all the shite I went through, I’d do it all over ‘gain to ‘ave ye in m’life.”
“You can protect me from the big bad world.” You said with a smile as you looked up at him. “I’ll protect you from Negan.”
“I may actually let ye do tha’, lass.” He said as he quickly washed his body off and stepped out of the way for you. “Yer da’s terrifyin’ when it comes ta ye.”
“My dad may think he’s a hard ass, but that man knows that I’m the one in charge no matter how much he doesn’t want to admit it. And he also knows at this point, now that he knows I know what he did, if he so much as lays a finger on you, I’m done... permanently. So being with me is as safe as you’ll ever be when it comes to my dad.”
“Tha’s somethin’ I’m really nervous ta test.”
“I can solve it today.” You said with a bob of your head as you turned off the water. “Because while I know he will never, ever admit it to anyone, possibly including me, he regrets what he did now that he’s been busted for it. And he didn’t feel shame for it until he saw the look in my eyes. Because it’s a look that instantly reminded him of my mom, and I know he can hear her freaking out at him in his memories.”
“It’s so strange ta see ‘im through yer eyes, my luv.” He huffed as he grabbed his coffee and went out to throw his clothes on from the day before. “Instead of as m’President.”
“Yea, it’s still entertaining to see him try to be ‘big bad Negan’ all these years later when I know the softie he can be since I actually remember it from when I was a kid… shit, I really don’t wanna wake her up…”
“Rip off the bandaid.”
“But she’s so cute…”
“Rip off the bandaid.” He repeated as he fastened his belt. “Ye said ye had a lot ta do, an’ tha’ ye wan’ed ‘er on Belfast time.”
“Son of a bitch.” You grumbled as you threw on a nursing tank, and a big, loose sweater over your leggings. You grabbed something cute for Celeste, that would keep her warm through out the day, and pouted at her as you kneeled on the bed and simply picked her up. “Oh, Mommy’s sorry.” You cooed as she instantly started to whine in sheer exhaustion. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I know.”
“She’s cute until she screams.” Chibs teased as he sat down on the bed to put his boots on. “Then she just reminds me of you.”
“Fuck you.” You said in a sing song voice. He chuckled and threw on his kutte before putting her car seat on the bed for you. “Yes, I know, Mommy’s mean. But you can sleep in the car, baby girl.”
“I’m guessin’ yer kidnappin’ me like old times?” He asked as he took the dirty diaper from you and got up to toss it in the diaper genie you had put in your bathroom the night before.
“Well obviously, I’m a defenseless first time Mommy that needs a big strong man to protect her and her adorable little girl.”
“Well now I jus’ ‘ave ta protect such a beautiful woman, and this cute little screamin’ bundle’a joy.”
“Oh, we are as much of a morning person as Mommy is.” You said as you grabbed his hand and put it on her stomach so you could pack your diaper bag for what you needed for the day.
“Oh, we’re jus’ no’ ‘avin’ a good mornin’.” He said as he picked her up and walked over to your bedroom window. He talked to her like he had known her throughout your whole pregnancy and her whole, short existence, instead of only a few hours. He got her to sniffle her way to a comfortable spot on his shoulder as you took out what you didn’t need and replaced what you needed to. You silently glared at him as his humming put her right back to sleep, and he moved at nearly a glacial pace to lay her down in the carseat. “I’m good wit’ kids.”
“Fuck outta here.” You huffed as you threw on your boots and grabbed your diaper bag and coffee. “Alright, you carry her. He’s less likely to hit you if you’re holding her.”
“No’ reassuring.” He muttered as he checked his pockets to make sure he had everything, before putting the car seat down just long enough to put his gun in the holder under his kutte. “Safety’s on, don’ worry.” With a roll of your head, you threw your bag on your shoulder, and lead him out the room with a sigh.
“Telford!” Negan yelled the moment you walked out the door, but you could see the flash of fear in his eyes when he realized you were headed straight for him.
“You have two choices here.” You said where only he could hear you as you stopped directly beside him, but looking out at the lake behind him. “You have the choice to try to take him out of my life for whatever fucking reason you could come up with. Or you have the choice to be my fucking father and fight for me to be happy with someone with as good of heart as he has to step up and protect my daughter the same way you protected me after everything I’ve been through. And we both know he wouldn’t have patched if he wasn’t a good person.” You glanced up at him with tears in your eyes, and you could see your dad, the man that only you really got to see looking back at you.
“Just know, I won’t stop fighting for him this time. You got lucky with Henry falling in my lap at just the right time and my research taking off the way it did. But you won’t be this time. And keep in mind, he and I both have to live with the physical proof of what you’ve done to us for the rest of our lives which is exactly why I can honestly say that if you try, you will lose everything. So you make the choice.” You looked back out at the lake with a sniff as you put your sunglasses on, while Negan took barely a half second to weight the options of loosing you, or seeing you with Chibs before he straightened beside you.
“Telford, get that baby outta the fucking cold. The fuck you standing there for, huh? And make sure my kid doesn’t get lost in some Goddamn throw pillows or whatever shit she’s got planned in that fucking head of hers for this place. Or better yet, make sure that she doesn’t lose her damn kid in throw pillows.” You nodded your head and went to walk away, but Negan quickly grabbed your arm and held you in one spot. You met his eyes for a few moments, letting him apologize ten times over in a simple look, and you choose to partially let him off the hook.
“Get the fucking prospects to return those vans before you get charged another day’s rental. We’ll talk later.” He nodded his head and leaned over to kiss your forehead, before letting you go to yell at the prospects and regain his control of his men.
“Wha’ did ye say ta ‘im?” Chibs asked softly as you set your diaper bag on the floor board and peeked in the back to make sure the only thing that was back there was your stroller frame.
“I told him to make a choice.” You said as you carefully shut the back door, and pulled open the passenger door. “And he made the right one.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“This place looks like it fucking threw up Christmas.” Your dad grumbled to you with a shake of his head as you walked through your professionally decorated house after spending a week on the road dealing with some club shit you didn’t even care to ask about.
“It’s Celeste’s first Christmas.” You started as you looked at the sparkling entry way proudly. “And our first one not spent in a portable in years. And you know I love Christmas. Oh, and I finally got confirmation that Colson, Casie, and Emma are coming for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so it had to be even more perfect. Ash and Ashton, too.”
“You got the fucking prospects to do all this shit?”
“Fuck no.” You laughed with a shake of your head. “I hired a company. The prospects are wrapping gifts in the carriage house because fuck knows I hate doing that shit. Paper cuts.” You said with a smirk as you looked over at him. “Not pleasant. They can do the bitch work.”
“Where’s Telford?”
“Why?” You asked as the smile fell from your face.
“Need to talk to him... and you, since I know you will never trust me in a room with him again.”
“With good reason.” You said as you gestured to the stairs. “Setting up my baby monitors in the nursery while Celeste tries out her new crib for nap time. Oh, Ash is heading over to the house later today to send me some shit I need to hang out here a while longer. Do you need anything?”
“I’m heading back day after New Years.” He said with a shake of his head and a heartbroken sigh. “I lost you because of this, didn’t I?” You hesitated for a moment and sighed loudly with a small nod of your head.
“You changed my whole life with your actions, Daddy. And his even more so. You may be the president of an MC, but you are still my father. And whether you liked it or not, you had no right to do what you did, no matter what the reason. Whether it be to keep ahold of your image, or to keep me closer to home, it doesn’t matter. You had no right. So yes, in a sense, you lost me- my trust is gone. But you are still my father, and I will always love you. So in that sense, I will still be here. You’ll see me, and Celeste, and I will always be here if you need me... but we will never have the same relationship we did because of this.” You looked over at him as a few tears fell from his eyes, and his sighed as his whole body sank with the weight of his actions.
“Your mother would be so proud of you.” He started as he looked over at you with a shake of his head. “But I would have lost her over this, too, so I understand.” As gently as he could, he reached out to pull you into a hug. “I’m sorry, princess. I’m so, so sorry.”
“I know, Daddy.” You whispered back as you started to tear up as well. You both stood there for a moment, completely ignoring Simon, and the Belfast charter’s president, Jax when they walked in to talk to him, but they turned right back around to give you your space as Negan pulled away and nodded his head.
“Can I go talk to him?” He asked as he wiped off his face. “I’ll leave my gun with you, if that makes you more comfortable.”
“I’ll come up with you.” You said as you wiped off your own face with your fingertips. “You can use my room while I get Celeste up from her nap so we can go find a caterer last minute for Christmas Eve. And the gun can stay in the hall.”
“Sounds like a plan.” He agreed before gesturing you toward the stairs. You headed through the new baby gate, and up the right side of the split staircase toward the only two rooms on that end of the house, before telling Negan to wait in the hall so you could pre-warn Chibs.
“Hey, my dad wants to talk to you.” His head whipped away from his phone where he was adjusting the views of the cameras, but you nodded at him, reassuringly. “It’s OK. His gun’s staying in the hall. It’s not a bad talk, I promise.”
“‘S’more the knives tha’ got my concern.” He said as he picked up a piece of paper with the app information. “Username is yer email, password’s Celeste123107.”
“You think you’re slick.” You laughed, since the date was the day you two met.
“I thought so.” He said with a small smile as he headed out of the room, stepping over the hand gun that was laying just outside the doorway. You added the app to your phone and signed into your account to check the cameras yourself while the two men went into your room to talk, before walking over to the bed to wake up your baby girl.
“Hello, punk-a-pie.” You cooed as you gently rubbed her back. “Hi, good morning. It’s time to join the world of the living so we can go for another fun adventure. Yea.” She actually grunted at you in protest when you picked her up, and you smiled at just how adorable she was. “Oh, I know it. It’s just so hard to be a baby with such a mean Mommy. Waking you up from naps, and feeding you, and changing you all the time. How could I be so thoughtless, hmm? But that means I get to eat these chunky little thighs. And theses cute little toes-ies.” You smiled as she burst into a fit of giggles on the changing pad when you playfully ‘bit’ her toes. “Oh, I could just eat you up! Yes I could. Fuck, I’m glad you got Mommy’s chunky thighs. They are just so damn cute.”
“I second that.” Chibs said as he walked back into the room a lot faster than you expected, while Negan simply headed down stairs to find out what Simon and Jax wanted. You looked over at him questioningly as you pushed the dirty diaper into the diaper pail, but he shook his head. “Nothin’ bad. Apologized for everythin’, gave me direct permission ta go Nomad a’while ta be wit’ you. Told me ta take care of his girls.”
“He knows he lost me.” You said with a nod as you re-buttoned the long sleeve onesie and put your daughter’s jeans back on. “He knows there’s no coming back from this now. He made his bed, and he has to sleep in it and what are you doing?!”
“I bought this for ye 12 years ago.” He said as he stood beside you at the changing table where you were now frozen half way of putting Celeste in her jacket to look at a gorgeous ring in a black box. “An’ the day aft’a ye came back, when I knew ye still luved me, too, I ‘ad the prospect start puttin’ t’get’a the legal paperwork for the courts. Because I lost ye once, an’ I’d rath’a die then lose ye ‘gain. So on New Years Eve, at the exact stroke of midnight, 12 long fuckin’ years aft’a it shoulda ‘appended in the first place, will ye please, please make me the luckiest son’ov’a bitch in the entire world an’ marry...”
“Yes.”
“Can I fuckin’ finish the...”
“No.” You laughed as you leaned over and kissed him roughly. He smiled against your lips and held you in place for a moment, before pulling back with a shake of his head.
“I was gon’ wait until the day of.” He said as he pulled the ring free while you finished dressing your now impatient daughter. “But wit’ yer dad’s blessin’... shockin’, I know.” He laughed as he took your left hand and slid the ring in place. “But we ‘ave it. An’ I wasn’t waitin’ another moment.”
“I don’t blame you.” You laughed as you looked at the ring that felt so much more right than the last one that was placed there, before showing Celeste with a smile. “Look at that, baby girl. Mommy’s getting married. And if he wants to, Chibs can become Daddy all in the same swing.”
“I’d be honored.” You nodded over at him with a laugh as you put on Celeste’s ear warmer headband bow.
“We’re just gunna wait until after Christmas to let her birth father know that all the same.”
“Aye. Don’ feel like havin’ ta fight for both m’girls in the same month.”
“What would you have done if he had said no?” Your fiancé smirked as he checked your diaper bag for you and put it on his shoulder.
“We would’a eloped. But now, ‘e can bear witness, ‘long wit’ Jackie boy, an’ this little chubby thighed cutie.”
“Well now you’ve just sent me into overdrive.” You laughed as you buckled Celeste in her car seat, and wrapped her in the car seat blanket you had. “Because now, after the caterer, I need to find a dress, and a location...”
“I’ve it all figured out.” He interrupted as he took the car seat from you. “Except the dress. My club may be loyal ta Negan, but I’ve broth’a’s a’ the table tha’ want ta see a broth’a happy ‘a the end’a the day.”
“Well then you can come with me to the caterer, then I’ll drop you and Celeste back off so you don’t see me in the dress. We’ve finally got some good luck going for us here.”
“Sounds like a plan ta me, my luv. Sounds like a plan to me.”
——
You had always imagined that you would be nervous on your wedding day, but as you stood in a private room in a church of all places that meant a lot to your future husband, you didn’t feel anything but excited. You tried to keep everything simple, but still put the prospects and your decorating company through the ringer to pull off a dream shared across cotton sheets that Chibs insisted you deserved, and had already been planning as long as he had the paperwork to pull off, even if it was for the ranks of the Sanctuary’s unwashed heathens.
“You know, I never thought you’d actually get to this point.” Ashleigh said as she adjusted her silver dress around her hips. “I figured when you got engaged to Henry, you were gunna get to the actual planning of the wedding and just… not. And I definitely didn’t think you’d do it this fast.”
“Henry isn’t my Filip.” You said with a look over at her as you finished a braid of your updo and pinned it on to place.
“Yea, but don’t you think this is a little fast?”
“Ash, I really wish I could explain this… Look, I loved Henry. I did. He was smart, and, funny, and kind. He supported my work, and didn’t mind my eccentricities… but he tried to change me. He tried to pull me away from my dad, to get me away from my club. He wanted us to move to England… and all of those things I would have considered because he made me feel comfortable. But then he took it upon himself to join the Army without a single word until the day he left, and he made that choice because he needed space to think things with me through. Yea, the things you learn after the fact. That was a nice ‘good to see ya after six years’ message.
But Filip, my Filip, the one that got away… He makes me feel safe. He makes me feel safe to let my guard down, and to not be this… always put together Nobel prize winning, Ph. D. three times over doctor all the time. He brings out an innocence that I’ve never gotten to experience because I was looking out for my dad, or drowning myself in my work, or because I was more focused on being the best astrophysicist this world had ever seen. He makes me laugh harder than anyone ever has in my life. He doesn’t just mind my eccentricities, he embraces them, and shows them off like a badge of honor. He doesn’t just make excuses for those times I have my ‘moments’ as Henry called them in public. He sacrificed being truly happy in life to make sure that I had the best life that I could. And I can’t lose that man from my life again. I can live without Henry. I can’t live without Filip.” You smiled as you picked up your silver and ice blue snowflake hair piece and turned in the mirror to see what you were doing to put it on. “And besides the fact, he hasn’t batted an eye over Celeste. Henry literally ran, and put her in the NICU for a month.”
“OK, he didn’t put her in the NICU.”
“He put me in a position that put her in the NICU.” You said as you glanced over at the clock. “But it doesn’t matter. None of that matters anymore. What matters is that the man that I was meant to be with years ago, is somewhere in this church, putting on a tie for me, and a suit that he wouldn’t be caught dead in otherwise for me, and has me excited to get married in a church of all places, without even questioning ‘God’ and all that entails. What matters is he is the love of my life… and after today, he will be mine.” Ash nodded her head slowly as she fixed your hair the slightest bit and tried to avoid eye contact in the mirror.
“(Y/N), I think...”
“Hey, Princess. You’re runnin’…” Negan interrupted as he knocked on the door while he pushed it open, and he stopped and smiled as he looked at you. “Well Goddamn.”
“You’re in a church, mister.” You reminded him, teasingly as you turned and pulled the mostly white, with a double layer of light blue tulle skirt around so it was straighter behind you. “Not supposed to swear in a church.”
“Yea, yea.” He grumbled. “Old, new, borrowed, blue, right?”
“I’ve got ‘em all covered, Daddy.” You said as you watched him walk over with something in his hand.
“Well I’m still replacing your old with mine.” He said as he held out his hand to you. Your brow furrowed until you saw the glimpse of a silver heart locket on a chain. “I don’t have to even ask if you know what it is…”
“It’s mom’s.” You said with a smile as you flipped it over with your thumb. “She wore it on your wedding day.”
“Always said she’d pass it down to a daughter. Nearly made Ash miss her fucking flight looking for it. You know I can’t remember where I put shit for shit.”
“Will you quit swearing and put on the damn necklace.” You laughed as you held it out to him. “Racing a clock here.”
“Yea, yea.” He chuckled as he put the finishing touch on your wedding day outfit. He took a step back and huffed with a small shake of his head. “You make a beautiful bride, baby girl.”
“Thank you, Daddy. Now Ash, what were you saying?”
“Oh, it’s... it’s nothing.” She said with her own smile as she handed you your bouquet of blue roses that had a dark blue bandana you borrowed from Chibs wrapped around the bottom stems. With a nod, you looked at yourself in the mirror one last time, before looking back at your dad.
“You ready?” Negan asked with a small smirk.
“More than.” With a nod, he held out his arm and led you out of the back room. “Damn it, can we just speed up the clock.” You joked as you carefully and subtly kicked out the front of your gown with each step so you would trip or rip it.
“Quit fuckin’ swearing.” Negan laughed as Ashleigh walked a little faster to get next to you.
“(Y/N), I think I made a huge mistake.” She repeated, timidly at the same time you watched Henry looking up from your sleeping little girl in her snow queen dress and a giant blue bow you prayed would muffle the noise so she could stay asleep next to Ashton in their winter wonderland decorated wagon, and over at you. There was only a moments hesitation as you ran through the list of women from the club that had come to see you as you were getting ready to wish you the best before you reacted.
“Daddy, go get Frankie.” You asked, simply as you let go of his arm for a moment. “She’s got on black and silver, so she won’t clash with the colors when she pulls the wagon.”
“(Y/N)...” Ashleigh choked as you simply ignored your ex standing there and stopped in front of the back doors.
“You are dead to me.” You said to her as you fixed your own dress and forced yourself to remain calm. “Get your son, the prospect will take you back to the hotel for your things and you can go.”
“(Y/N)...” She and Henry said at the same time, which made you round on both of them with fire in your eyes.
“I don’t know what either of you thought you were trying to accomplish here, but I’m not in the fucking mood. You, Henry, I can sort of understand because we were together so long, and you’re just hoping that maybe, just maybe I’d be willing to give you a third chance after every thing you have put me through, but Ash...? What the actual fuck. Seriously, how did you think that calling my ex in on my fucking wedding day was going to go over, huh? Good? Simple? Not likely to royally piss me the fuck off?!”
“I was just trying...”
“Well now you can just try to get the fuck out of here before I fucking strangle you on my fucking wedding day. And Henry, I have nothing more to say to you. You’ve made it perfectly clear that I am not the person you want to be with. And I am sick and fucking tired of compromising my integrity to fit into your perfect wife narrative when I met someone 12 fucking years ago that never wanted anyone but me in the first place and still does all these years later. So you both can leave. Frankie, I need you to pull my flower girl down the aisle for me.”
“(Y/N)...” Ashleigh said as she carefully picked up Ashton.
“I said NOW!” You roared with a glance back at her. “Now! I will get you home, but you are dead to me. Frankie, it’s fine, just pull her down behind you, put her in front of my dad’s seat so you can take my bouquet, and when it gets to the count down, bring the wagon back here to try to keep her away from the noise.” You told your new Maid of Honor as you fixed your dress again. You didn’t look back as the prospect that had been watching the kids escorted Ashleigh and Henry out of the church despite their protests, but your dad stopped in front of you with a look of concern.
“You need a minute?”
“I need Filip.” You said as you searched his eyes with barely a hint of tears in yours. He nodded his head and told Frankie to go, as he walked around behind you and helped you pull out your ball gown so it made the perfect bell shape.
“What have I always told you about writing off family?”
“Fuck them if they don’t understand.”
“Exactly.” He said as he laced your arm with his. “Fuck ‘em. Now quit swearing in a fucking church.”
“Daddy, we’re both going to hell anyways.” You giggled with a glance up at him. “But I’m pretty sure we just gave ourselves the best seats on the bus.”
“Fucking right we did.” He laughed as you both took the first step down the aisle. You found Filip instantly, and watched as his eyes shifted from anger directed at Henry’s back, to concern when he saw your face. You tried to tell him that you were alright, but you could tell he didn’t believe it until you were directly in front of him with your hand finally in his.
“We’re getting married today.” You whispered with a smile as you reached up with your free hand to cup his cheek. “I’m OK. I’m finally where I’m meant to be. With you.” With a nod of his head, knowing that you would never lie to him, he leaned forward and gently kissed your forehead with a sigh of relief. The ceremony was kept short by design, since it was nearly midnight, and while there was talk of God, you barely noticed it because of the man who could not stop smiling in front of you with matching tears of joy in his eyes. You stuck with generic vows, because neither of you would have made it through writing your own, and your first attempt at saying ‘I do’ came out as a choked whisper, which made his smile grow even more.
“By the power vested in me by God and man...” The priest said as the club counted down the New Year for you. “I pronounce you husband and wife. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. You may now kiss the bride.”
“I told you I’d marry you one day.” You whispered softly in the last few seconds.
“Finally.” Filip whispered back as he wrapped his arms around your middle and kissed you like it was the first time at exactly midnight, just like he had the night you first met in the shadows of the Belfast clubhouse. The club erupted in cheers as you held your husband’s cheeks between both hands, while the priest presented Mr. and Mrs. Filip Telford over the noise and left to get some sleep before his morning church service. You both pulled back with smiles, and you took your bouquet from Negan, who’s face read happiness and sadness at the same time.
“Congratulations, baby girl.” He said softly as he kissed your cheek before you left, since you agreed to do the reception the next night when you could get a sitter for Celeste and so the club could still celebrate the New Year. “I love you.”
“I love you, too, Daddy.” You responded with a smile. With a nod of his head, he stepped out of your way so you could head out the back to collect your daughter and spend your first night as husband and wife making love until the sun came up.

Dad Tim & Uncle Rhys Part 3
Not me being horrifically bored when I should be doing work and finishing this instead?? Needed to self-indulge for a bit, so you get part 3 to this! You can check out part one here! I’ll probably write a part 4 at...some point, if anyone is interested!
Rhys stood outside Atlas HQ, waiting miserably. He watched as Tim and Phoenix came into view, hand-in-hand.
“He’s here,” Phoenix said in surprise.
“I told you he would be,” Tim said, squeezing his hand.
Rhys had strongly considered staying home and having a nice drink instead, but the thought of upsetting Tim’s son frightened him on a primal level. Tim was usually pretty laid back, but his protectiveness over his son tore out a frightening anger from him.
“Park?” Rhys said. “We can drive-”
“We can walk,” Tim said, glancing at Phoenix. “He wants to see the sights. Let him see the sights.”
Rhys sighed loudly. “Fine, we’ll walk. You owe me big time, Timothy.”
“I seem to recall saving you thousands on that last deal we made,” Tim said smugly, tugging Phoenix along.
Rhys scowled, because Tim had a valid point. He trudged alongside his companions for the day.
“When I have the money, we’re taking a trip to a nice planet,” Tim said, looking around as they walked. “Somewhere that has plenty of grass and trees and…I dunno, sunshine? Fresh air?”
“And ice cream?” Phoenix said.
“Well, duh,” Tim said. “I’m not taking you on a trip to a planet that doesn’t have ice cream. That’d be a punishment, not a vacation.”
Phoenix seemed pleased by the reassurance. Rhys hoped they didn’t invite him on this trip.
“Can we get some today, dad? I bet boss guy knows a good place,” Phoenix said.
“I have a name, you know,” Rhys said.
“Uh-huh,” Phoenix said, showing absolutely no inclination that he’d ever use that name.
“Rhys? Rhys Strongfork?” Rhys tried.
“Strongfork?” Phoenix furrowed his brow. “That’s a stupid name.”
Tim snickered. Rhys glared at him.
“Your last name is Lawrence!” Rhys shot back.
“Yea, still better than Strongfork. What freaking moron is proud of a name like that?” Tim said. “Kid’s right. It’s stupid.”
Rhys hunched his shoulders. “I hate you.”
“And yet, here you are,” Tim said.
“Because I’m also mildly afraid of you,” Rhys said.
“Dad is really good at shooting people,” Phoenix agreed.
Tim rubbed the back of his neck. “Hey, uh, maybe...try to forget that dad is really good at shooting people? Okay, pal?”
“Why?” Phoenix said, frowning.
“Because shooting people is bad when you live somewhere civilized.” Tim looked around them. “Uh, somewhere partially civilized, at least.”
Phoenix seemed confused by the concept of not committing murder. “But what if they shoot first?”
“Then it’s totally fine,” Tim said. “But before I worked for that freaking asshole, I didn’t go around shooting people. I doubt Rhys here spends his days putting bullets in homicidal maniacs either.”
“Definitely not,” Rhys said.
“I could teach you,” Phoenix said. “Dad taught me how to shoot a gun and mom taught me how to set people on fire.”
“Okay! Lovely weather out, huh?” Tim said hastily.
“Fire?” Rhys said, staring at Tim.
“Uh, yea, well, Ember’s a little...uh…” Tim shrugged helplessly. “Yea, man, she just really likes fire. I seriously had to fight for him not to be named Blaze.”
“But you and his mother aren’t together?” Rhys said, realizing he didn’t know much about Tim’s life outside of work.
Tim shook his head. “Not as a couple, but we’re still good friends. We call her every night so she can keep up with Phoenix.”
“Uh-huh,” Phoenix said. “She said she’d come see us soon.”
Rhys didn’t want to be anywhere near that reunion. “Oh. Good for you.”
They walked along Promethea. Whenever the wide-open space of it all got to be too much for Phoenix, Tim would stop and sit down with him, holding onto him until he’d calmed down. Tim would then let Phoenix run through any questions he had, trying to explain what certain buildings were. When Tim himself wasn’t sure, Rhys would step in.
It was slow going to reach the park, but they made it eventually. They walked along the path until a playset came into view.
“Well, go wild,” Rhys said, gesturing to it.
Phoenix frowned. “What is it?”
Rhys almost laughed, until he looked at Phoenix and realized that the kid really didn’t know what a playset was. Tim knelt beside him and pointed at it.
“It’s called a playset. It’s where kids like you can, well, play,” he explained. “See, there are things you recognize. The slide? And those monkey bars there are like the ladders I’d set up for you to play on back at the casino.”
“Oh!” he said. “There’s a whole place just to play?”
“There are a lot of places you can play,” Tim said. “But this is a nice, quiet one. Why not start with the monkey bars?”
Phoenix bounded over, waiting expectantly for Tim to follow. Phoenix grabbed onto a bar and swung his body out over the ground, going bar to bar with Tim following below, hands out ready to catch Phoenix if he slipped.
Rhys found a bench to sit at, watching Tim and Phoenix. He was struggling to remind himself that Tim wasn’t Jack. He highly doubted Jack would’ve been that good with his kid.
A few times, Phoenix slipped off the bars, but Tim always caught him and hoisted him right back up. When Phoenix’s arms grew too tired to carry himself the rest of the way across, Tim held him up and walked him across.
“Boss guy,” Phoenix called. “Aren’t ya gonna play too?”
“No, no, I’m an adult,” Rhys said.
“So’s dad, but he plays,” Phoenix said. “Betcha can’t do the monkey bars. Your real arm is a noodle arm.”
Tim tried to disguise his laughter as a coughing fit. Rhys shot him a dirty look.
“I sign your paychecks,” he reminded.
“I worked for Handsome Jack,” Tim said dismissively. “You don’t scare me, noodle arm.”
“I hate you,” Rhys announced.
“Hate me all you want, as long as I get paid,” Tim said, shrugging. Phoenix started laughing a little.
But his laughter cut off as they heard tires squealing and the sound of gunfire nearby, loud voices cheering and hollering. Phoenix immediately ducked behind Tim, going perfectly still with his hand hovering over his watch, terror in his eyes as his gaze darted about, the noises all echoing around the open area.
Tim had also stiffened, hand on his gun. Rhys stood up, shaking his head quickly.
“No, no, it’s okay. I mean, it’s not really okay, but it’s not an attack. Some of the local, er, gangs do that as a celebration from time to time,” Rhys said. “Besides, the road is way over there.”
Already, the sound was fading. Tim relaxed only the slightest, immediately looking at his son.
He knelt besides Phoenix and pulled him close. “It’s okay, Phoenix. It’s okay. I’ve got you. We’re safe.”
“There’s no cover,” Phoenix said quietly, eyes darting around the open area.
“I know. We don’t need it. We’re safe,” Tim said.
“H-Hey, why don’t we go get ice cream? There’s an ice cream place up the road,” Rhys said, pointing away from where the gunshots had come from.
“Hear that, pal? Boss guy is offering to buy you ice cream,” Tim said.
“I did no-” Rhys snapped his mouth shut as Phoenix looked up at him with those big, scared eyes. He let out a heavy sigh. “Yea, I’ll buy you ice cream.”
Dammit.
Phoenix reached out, taking Rhys’ hand. Rhys looked at Tim in alarm.
“Dad needs his hands free so he can kill anyone who tries to hurt us,” Phoenix explained.
“Uh, we talked about this, Phoenix. Dad is trying not to kill people these days,” Tim said.
Phoenix ignored that, tugging Rhys along. “C’mon, boss guy. I know your noodle arms can’t fight.”
“I’ve been in fights before!” Rhys said indignantly. He was cute, but he was a little asshole.
Rhys led them to a little ice cream place. Phoenix brightened a bit as they entered.
Tim lifted Phoenix into his arms as they approached the counter. “Can you tell the employee what you want?”
Phoenix looked at him in alarm. Tim just offered him an easy smile.
“Go on,” he encouraged. “Just say what you want. Rhys will make sure you get it.”
Phoenix swallowed audibly. He glanced nervously at the employee, then dropped his gaze and mumbled something. Tim nudged him a bit, but Phoenix just gripped his shirt, tightening his hold.
“He’ll have a chocolate vanilla twist,” Tim said at last.
He and Rhys both ordered, Rhys paying and taking them to a table with their ice cream. Phoenix happily dug into his.
“We’re working on the whole ‘afraid of people thing’,” Tim said as Phoenix snuggled into his side. “He’s getting better. Being around the office helps. Hey, what do you say to Rhys for buying the ice cream?”
“Thanks!” Phoenix said. “Next time ya gotta play with us, though. Work off the ice cream or you’ll get fat.”
“I hate him,” Rhys grumbled.
“What was that?” Tim said cheerfully.
“I said you and your son are wonderful and I don’t have a single regret about hiring you,” Rhys ground out. “Not one. Singe. Regret.”
“Aw, hear that? He likes us,” Tim said.
“He should come meet mom when she comes,” Phoenix said.
“I’m busy that night,” Rhys said in alarm.
“Aw, but we had so much fun today, kiddo,” Tim said, then grimaced. “Dammit, can’t kick that habit. Ah, whatever. I’m just having fun watching my kid roast you.”
“Have you always been this insufferable?” Rhys said.
“Oh yea. Not nearly as bad as Claptrap, though,” Tim said. “But yea, the kid totally took a page from the book of my personality.”
Phoenix looked far too proud about being an asshole like his dad. “Uh-huh. I’m like my dad.”
“Lucky me,” Rhys said dryly.
“Can’t wait for you to meet his mom,” Tim said.
“Wait, I didn’t agree to-”
“Yea!” Phoenix said, so brightly that Rhys knew he couldn’t argue.
He slumped down in his seat. Of course he survives Jack just to wind up getting sucked into Tim’s life. He just couldn’t escape, could he?

Driving Home For Christmas

Author’s note: I LOVE CHRISTMAS, mkay? This fic is part of (@toomanystoriessolittletime) Steph’s Christmas Writing Challenge #22 ‘Driving Home For Christmas by Chris Rea’. So here goes. I wish you merry days my darlings!
Song: Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas
(Link to my Masterlist)
--
‘Driving home for Christmas..yea.’
Henry’s fingers drummed on the back of the driver’s seat, his father seemingly immune to his son’s antics as he steered the car through the early December dark.
‘WELL I’M MOVING DOWN THAT LINE!’
‘Henry!’ I admonished, swatting my hand at his bicep as he offered me one of his shit eating grins, his cheeks dimpling in delight.
‘What’s that love?’ He turned a little in the small corner of the backseat, his knee touching mine - he was far too big for the backseat and yet he had refused to take the front seat, preferring to get reacquainted during the short drive home.
I shook my head and laughed. ‘You're such a nerd.’
'A nerd? Well at least let me have..sexy nerd! Brave nerd! Saving the maiden from..-’
‘The horrible airport. Yes-yes. Thank you.’ I playfully sulked, mouth pouting at the boy who was no longer a boy. I could still see that familiar twinkle in his sky blue eyes, a sole remainder of the chubby boy I had befriended so many years ago. Friends then. Near strangers now. Though thankfully, by some strange twist of fate, he happened to be arriving on that same airport where I got stuck - the bus not arriving, the cabs all taken; he had indeed kind of saved me after one miserable day of delay after delay.
Henry. Ever the silver lining in my life.
‘Everything okay back there?’ Colin, Henry’s father asked, his eyes peering at us through the rearview mirror.
‘Yes, Mr. Cavill. Thank you so much again for taking me. I mean..I don’t want to be a..’
‘OH please! Darling! Can’t have you walking all the way home now, can we?’ The old Cavill chuckled, then waved at a passerby car. Everyone seemed to know everyone on this island that once had been my home.
‘So.’ Henry shifted in his seat, face melting into a more serious expression. ‘I haven’t seen you back here in..forever.’
‘Likewise..Superman.’ I teased before slowly nodding my head in agreement, lips sucking in as I tended to do when in thought. ‘Last time was like what..LA …4 years ago?’
‘Yep.’ He nodded his head as well, eyes searching my face as I quickly turned my attention to the buttons of my coat; there was something about his gaze that made my cold cheeks grow hot.
‘So eh..Are you still with that pretty blonde? What’s her name again?’ I swiftly offered him a curious glance.
‘Nope.’ He sighed. ‘Superman’s not very good at finding a suitable lady for his..’ He used his fingers to quote: ‘super lifestyle.’
‘You’ll find one!’ Colin intervened, to which Henry rolled his eyes.
‘Dad...Come on. I’m 38. Let’s be honest..’
Colin, however, didn’t agree to the sentiment, his finger moving over the volume button to turn it up loud.
So I sing for you
Though you can't hear me
I laughed heartily as his father started to belt the song aloud like his son had done moments earlier, the sorrows of an exhausting day quickly forgotten as I too joined in, wishing to lift Henry’s spirit as he always had mine.
When I get trough
And feel you near me
Henry chuckled softly and gave me a theatrical look of exasperation, eyes rolling in their sockets.
Driving home for Christmas
With a thousand memories
‘That’s true though.’ Henry agreed, before joining in too, his warm laugh back on his dimpling cheeks as the three of us sang along with Rea’s warm jazzy voice.
Far too soon the car halted before my parents home, a slow drizzle somewhat dampening the mood of what should be a magical Christmas. In fact. I wasn’t very much looking forward to this Christmas. I loved my parents, my family. But they were a handful. And I just wanted things to be easy going, like..the Cavill’s Christmases always seemed to be. With a sigh I pushed open the car door, and much to my surprise, Henry did the same.
Without question Henry followed me up to the door step, eyes slightly squinting into the tiny raindrops that danced in the porch light.
‘So much for the Christmas mood.’ I sniffled, nose scrunching as our faces and hair slowly got soaked.
Henry hesitated as we both settled on the door mat, his large frame turning towards me as if he wished to say something, only to let out a cloudy breath before he offered me another grin.
‘You think that funny, hmm?’ I poked his chest again, though this time he caught my hand, pulling me ever so slightly closer as my breath hitched. Once more his lips slightly parted, as if he wished to speak. But no words came. And then I saw it. Behind the facade of that far too handsome man, blue eyes shining in the low light of the rainy porch-perch, there still was Henry. Shy Henry. My heart ached for shy Henry. He was my weak spot. Always had been. Though, Henry didn’t seem to recognise my calm appreciation, his eyes darting from my parents’ front door to his dad’s car.
‘Eh..’ He cleared his throat, still not finding any words - I smiled inwardly. Yes, he was still a bit of a nerd.
‘Do you want to have my new number? I think you still have my old one.’ I finally said, eyebrow rising.
It was as if Christmas came early for Henry - albeit just a few hours early. His whole face lit up as his gaze shot back at me, lips parting but this time in giddy joy.
‘Y-yes. Eh.’ He smiled, quickly moving both hands to his pockets to find his phone. I mimicked him and with the awkward fumble of cold, gloved fingers on rainy phone screens, we exchanged our new numbers.
‘Who was that?’ My mother tried to keep her tone casual as a knowing eyebrow raised, her hand turning a wooden spoon through some doughy mixture in a mixing bowl.
‘Oh..eh..Henry. We used to be friends in lower school.’
‘Ah..’ Her smile grew. Her red painted lips opened again to continue her questions, but I quickly brushed passed her to greet the others. And my mom? She laughed - OH kids….
The warm interior of the car welcomed Henry back and with a relieved sigh he sank into the seat next to his dad, that same darn song somehow STILL playing. With a comical twist of the button, Colin cranked up the volume again.
So I sing for you
Though you can't hear me
When I get trough
Oh and feel you near me
‘DAD.’ Henry rolled his eyes. ‘UGh..Just..drive.’
And though slightly embarrassed by his dad seeing just how little “game” his son really had, Henry couldn’t help but smile - driving home for Christmas was suddenly not so bad after all.

Puppeteer Headcanons
K so this mans has been living in my head rent free since I first laid eyes on them (like 2013) so here are my headcanons about their backstories, personalities, and more. Some are inspired by the original stories and lore, some are inspired by other bloggers, some are me self-projecting. Warning there are mentions of dark themes so keep caution. Also i am not a writer, (im sorry) @creepy-bi-day enjoy!!
Puppeteer~
Backstory:
Puppeteer was born as Jonathon Blake on July 23, 1974
Mother was Hispanic, dad was American. He grew up speaking Spanish and English. He also never really got along with both sides of the family cause he’s mixed (they didn’t like that). They kinda preferred his siblings.
had 4 younger siblings (3 girls, 1 boy). He was 4 years older than the second child.
ever since he could walk he was obsessed with musical theater. For a while his family was able to Johnny to theater camp. Stopped after the 3rd child was born due to financial reasons
parents were working full time to take care of their family. meant Johnny was basically acting like a 3rd parent. good news was he was able to take care of all 4 of them and meet their basic need of being fed, staying clean etc. bad news it meant that he was taking care of them 24/7 and was constantly tired and not taking care of himself. Started to develop symptoms of depression, but couldn’t get help due to the stigmas around mental health + he’s a guy.
got worse in highschool when his work load increased and he wanted to do more in drama and music but couldn’t cause he had to take care of his siblings. He also didn’t make many close friends except for one girl in his drama class Erma.
Erma was his best friend and they started dating in their second year of highschool. She helped him as much as she could with his mental health, their studies, and even helped babysit some days. They brought out the best in each other.
Erma loved dance and wanted to become a ballerina, but her parents tried to keep her focus on studies. They did allow her to take theater which she also loved. Her parents were very strict and controlling so she had to hid her relationship.
It wasn’t until the second child turned 13 (johnny was 17), when she started to help out more with the other three siblings (12f, 9f, 7m). Thanks to her help and now they were in a better financial position, johnny was able to join plays and bands which had afterschool practices.
He was really good. He discovered he was born with perfect pitch and was able to get the lead in a play in his final year. This was also when he was able to score a scholarship so some of his uni fees would be paid for.
he decided to major in theater and wanted to go on Broadway or at least become a drama teacher
however when apply for uni, Erma’s parents discovered their relationship and they offered Erma a choice, break up with johnny or else they wouldn’t pay for Erma’s schooling. They hated johnny mostly due to racism and the fact that he wasnt going into a “stable career”. Erma choose to break up with Johnny but didn’t want to tell him these reasons cause she knew that it would upset him. So instead she told him that she’s fallen out of love and wanted to break up.
Johnny agreed mostly to make her happy, but this started his spiral downwards.
Johnny didn’t have any friends other than Erma, he also went to uni in a different city so he didn’t have his family there. His depression got really bad, and he ended up isolating himself and failing first term. He decided to kill himself via hanging. Problem is he wasn't heavy enough to kill himself right away, so he was suffering for hours.
He spent his last few hours allowing himself to finally “be selfish” and allowed himself to be angry at his family, Erma, and his overall life.
due to this anger, he was able to come back as a ghost, wanting others to feel the same pain as him.
when he came back he was able to change his body into his idea of a perfect vessel, some improvement were making himself taller, better hair, clear face, smooth voice, bigger dick.  and now feeds off of negative energy
Personality:
cold-hearted, cunning, manipulative, a smooth talking, somewhat charming. this is the very carefully crafted version of Puppeteer, He’s the guy who could talk you into doing anything, mostly stuff like jumping off a bridge
however once you get close to him, you see more of Johnathon than puppet. He is very protective of his close friends, will fuss over them and scold them if they aren’t taking care of themselves
good luck getting there tho. After Erma he really had a hard time opening up to ppl due to his fear that they will all leave him at one point.
Powers:
he feeds off of negative energies, the more trauma the better (finally imma a snack), so he usually influences his victims into a deep depressed state where they off themselves. However once he started hanging out with the creeps (mansion au), he really didn’t need to do that since everyone is a lil fucked up. He just feeds off a little bit of everyone, so that no one is really affected. At this point, he probably has enough energy to outlive the fucking queen
He’s a ghost so he can levitate at most like 10 m above the ground, and if he focuses, he can go through walls and become invisible.
he has golden strings due to the ectoplasm inside of him (make his eyes and mouth glow to). This strings are like limbs, They are tough to break but if you do its gonna hurt him a lot. They can extend up to 60 ft, and are about 1 cm thick.
Fun Facts (cause idk how to categorize these)
lots of trauma, need therapy. he feels a lot of shame for what happened and only opens up to his very close friends. again born in 70′s, theres the toxic masculinity and some internalized homophobia.
still a theater kid!! love musicals and can still sing and play guitar. His vocal cords are a lil more sensitive cause the whole hanging thing, but as long as he warms up, can has the range baby. also has Macbeth memorized
can still cook. while he doesn’t like his past and doesn’t need to eat. He wrote down all of the recipes he knew and will sometimes make them again
dick is 6.5 inchs soft 7.5 hard, i know y’all wanted to know. if also like 6′2 tall. tall big boi
i hc him as pansexual. yea he rather died again than admit that he loves someone, but he won’t care about gender. he still is cis tho.
he does fuck. not often but occasionally. slightly lower sex drive than average
grunge king. he grew up in poverty and he great at diy. very leans more punk grunge but can be soft grunge depending on his mood. love beanies and his hair is a little longer than chin length with lots of layers. He is tempted to shave off the sides of his head tho. also has grunge and punk music on his playlists.
bad with tech. like the opposite of ben. gets called an old man since he couldn’t figure out how the tv remote works.
he doesn’t grow facial hair, doesn’t like the look.
acts like he’s too proper to cuss, but he does.... a lot
experienced some racism while growing up so he does say ACAB
probably has some piercings or tattoos or both
still is depressed, has some tough days, but doctor ej gets him pills to help and he has a good support system
shit this was a lot so Helen is next with another post. ill get into their friendship and relationships with other in a whole new post if yall like it. someone tell me if this gives joy cause i could write an essay on this man

Holiday Fic 3! 🚛🎁
@wltz-bby @happyskywhale
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: Sooooo... this song was just staring me in the face and I didn’t even clock that this was the easiest connection until super late. When I sat worrying about how the heck I was supposed to fill all my December slots!! 🤦‍♀️🙈
As a warning, this one is certainly Christmas related, rather than winter related. As the next one will be
This is also the same relationship as in ‘End Up With You’ and ‘My Oh My’.
Disclaimer: Prime Mover & associated characters not mine / I capped the cap! / lyrics not mine.
Premise: Everything seems to be going too well for Johnnie on his last run of the year, until he hits traffic...
Words: 2331
Warnings: Swearing / all the joys of your parents hating your S/O during the festive season / sexual connotations look I told ya
_____ I'm driving home for Christmas Oh, I can't wait to see those faces I'm driving home for Christmas, yea Well I'm moving down that line
And it's been so long But I will be there I sing this song To pass the time away Driving in my car Driving home for Christmas
It's gonna take some time But I'll get there Top to toe in tailbacks Oh, I got red lights on the run But soon there'll be a freeway yeah Get my feet on holy ground
Driving home for Christmas With a thousand memories I take look at the driver next to me He's just the same Just the same
Top to toe in tailbacks Oh, I got red lights all around I'm driving home for Christmas, yea Get my feet on holy ground So I sing for you Though you can't hear me When I get trough Oh and feel you near me Driving in my car Driving home for Christmas
---
This hadn’t exactly been the plan. Nowhere near the plan. In fact, if you had it the way you wanted it, Johnnie wouldn’t even have been pulled out on this last run of the Holiday season. He was supposed to have got back and been done roughly a week ago. Only a few days ago, as he’d been kicking around the garage to hang out with you, Phil had hauled him into one last over-nighter. Johnnie could probably have said no, and afforded to. And you, staring helplessly at him, hoped that he might. But he didn’t - and part of you knew that he wouldn’t. Johnnie would take work when he could get it - that’s what he always did. You let him know how unhappy you were about it, but he had calculated for this, and all he did was smile, showing you his worked out route: “It’s okay! I’ll be home! I’ll be home!” He was due back mid-afternoon Christmas Eve and you had held him to that. In fact, Johnnie had been running pretty well up until about lunch time, he’d got all the way there in relatively light traffic and made good time - the final drop off was complete and now he was driving empty back home he could at least lay on the gas a little. He made sure to update you every chance he got - and you always reminded him to take rest breaks. Johnnie bent the rules often enough, you didn’t need him in trouble just before the holidays - especially not REAL trouble. By the way you’d both calculated it, he might have been back even earlier than expected. And that got your hopes up. Unfortunately, as the day had worn on, Johnnie realised that he was not the only one going home… everyone this side of Australia seemed to be heading in the same direction. And suddenly he found himself stuck in tailbacks and holiday traffic. “Aw… Geez…” The radio was playing the appropriate festive music, only - sitting in the Australian summer heat - Johnnie couldn’t really say he was feeling the lyrics when all they talked about was winter wonderlands and wrapping up warm. No thanks. The one upside was, with only minor movement, he could message you a little more. But he didn’t want to worry you too much and stress you about traffic. So he let you know that he was in it - but nowhere near how bad it really was. It couldn’t be this terrible all the way back home, right? It had to let up eventually… Johnnie would have nothing to worry about. And worrying you any further would just cause him unnecessary problems. *** Your original idea was to wait for him at the depot until he arrived and then head over to your parents. But as it got later and later, he was nowhere to be found and you were pretty much the last person standing - realising the futility when even Phil started switching the lights off - you understood that you should be heading off yourself. In reality you didn’t think Johnnie or your mum would mind this predicament so much, considering how much they despised each other. But as you’d been telling both of them all week to ‘please be nice to each other! It’s the holidays!’ you figured you’d completely wasted your breath. Well… then again, you probably would have anyway. You checked your phone once more as Phil practically had to drag you out as he locked up. Nothing. You sighed gently; hopefully that meant he was at least moving again. You just hoped Johnnie wouldn’t do anything reckless… You knew better. Tapping out a quick text, you slipped into your own car, turning on the ignition and hoping you weren’t met with traffic of your own. The wrath of your mother at this time in the evening, considering it was already dark, would be bad enough. ‘I’m heading out to my parents now. See you back at home! Stay safe babe, I love you xx’ *** You barely got the chance to knock at the door of your parents’ house before your mother wrenched open the door. Her eyes were narrowed at you standing alone and she peered out onto the driveway, expecting to see Johnnie exiting the car or standing a little way off looking reluctant to be a part of this. When she realised he wasn’t there, her face softened and she looked back to you. “Hi Mum…” Your hands were in your pockets, “Happy Christmas-!” “Come in, come in!” She opened the door wide and as soon as it was closed behind you, she started, bustling passed you, her finger jabbing the air: “I TOLD you he was useless! I TOLD you he wouldn’t get home and he’d make my little girl cry-!” You weren’t crying, but you supposed you couldn’t exactly hide the disappointment on your face. Rolling your eyes you scoffed, trudging in after her, “Mum, he’s just running late. He says there’s really bad traffic. I’ll have him back this evening… You don’t want him here anyway-!” “No, and you should stay the night! Have Christmas with us!” “Mum.” You were firm as she turned back to you, “You know I can’t do that to him.” “I don’t know what you see in him.” “I don’t think there’s anything I could say that would persuade you to see anything in him.” And that was the honest truth, Johnnie could turn into a full-blown Saint and your mother would probably still hate him. You’d long since given up trying to change her opinions of him - after all, hers weren’t changing yours. Sure, there was some truth - and legitimate reasoning - behind her concerns. But making it her personal vendetta to hate him hardly helped the situation. Sometimes it just made you hold onto him a little stronger. And perhaps you would argue with her, but it was Christmas, and that was the last thing you were going to do. Besides, you were growing pretty tired of this type of bickering. Your dad appeared in the doorway, “Hey sweetheart!” “Hey dad!” You gave a genial wave. You were never exactly sure where he stood with the trucker you dated. You thought the appropriate word might be ‘tolerated’... He also peered around, “I thought Johnnie was coming?” You watched your mother instinctively glare at the mention of his name and shook your head; you had told them you would call in as soon as he was back. At this point you’d regretted planning anything. “Yes, but he hasn’t returned yet and it was getting late. I didn’t want you to think I wasn’t going to stop by.” “Ahhh… He got caught in that big smash up?” As if that was any help with your panicking about his safety, ever. “What!?” “It’s caused back ups everywhere in the region, he’s probably in traffic there. It was all over the news.” “Still bad? On Christmas Eve – that’s just… that’s horrible is everyone okay?!” You father shook his head, “No. All clear now. Seems to be no major injuries.” Thank goodness for that, you breathed a sigh of relief; “Good, I hope he’s moving.” Your mother scoffed, “Probably at some bar somewhere-” “Mum, Please. It’s Christmas!” You tried your hardest not to snap at her, it took a surprising amount of control; “I know he’s not here, but please can we talk about something else?!” She stepped forward and took your face in her hands with a concerned sigh, “Oh, Y/N… One day you’re going to see what I see… and you’ll realise…” “...Maybe, but it’s not today Ma. Today Johnnie’s still my boyfriend and I still love him. And I want him home!” She let you go, and pushed passed your father into the kitchen, “Well now, both of you sit! What was the point in me preparing this food if we’re not going to eat it!?” You shrugged yourself out of your jacket, throwing it on the coat stand and ran a hand through your hair, groaning. Hopefully that was the definitive change in subject that meant Johnnie wouldn’t be brought up for the rest of the evening. And you’d certainly be praying on that one! *** Johnnie rolled the truck into the depot just as the clock ticked around to midnight. It would certainly be Christmas Day before he got back home to you. He was exhausted and he parked up, sat in his cab for a minute, head against the steering wheel groaning. At least that would be it for this year. He could relax for the next week. Clambering out of the cab, he gave his truck the once over, it looked fine - and it wasn’t like anyone was around to check it anyway. He yawned as he strolled slowly over to his car; the only one left on the lot. Rubbing his eyes, he slid into yet another driver's seat and turned on the ignition. This journey wouldn’t be so bad though, all he had to do was drive across town to your place. He fished his mobile out of his pocket - Johnnie had felt the vibration before, but had opted for simply getting the journey done instead of pulling in anywhere to check it. Aside from a bunch of Christmas well wishes, there was one from you saying you’d left for your parents. Well, now he was here that much was obvious - Johnnie thought for a minute, would you still be there? You could well be, but what would be the point in going over? He doubted they would want him crashing the party. Best to leave you to it, especially as they weren’t his biggest advocates. Instead Johnnie opted to drive home, and tapped a text back: ‘Ok, at depot, see you at home. Also sorry I couldn’t be there x’ Throwing his phone back in his pocket he pulled the car out of the lot and breathed a sigh of relief. He was almost home, he was almost back to you. You checked the text as soon as you received it, with a little smile. He could apologise for not being there all he wanted, but you really knew he’d only have been with you begrudgingly. In reality the traffic meant both your mum and Johnnie had dodged a bullet tonight. And, whilst you were a little disappointed not to have him back on time, you thought that might have been better for all of you. Finally you might have a nice peaceful Christmas - and not an argument to be had! You didn’t even bother texting him back, he’d be home before he got it anyway. And you couldn’t wait. *** When Johnnie pulled into the drive, he was almost surprised to see lights on in the house. ‘Oh? She’s back?’ Your parents didn’t want to keep you for Christmas then? They had released you! Johnnie smiled gently, at least that wouldn’t mean waiting up for your return. Although he realised you were probably waiting up for his... He opened the front door with a yell: “Babe, I’m home!” Expecting to have to catch you into a hug as you ran to him. Instead he was greeted with a call of “Welcome home!” from elsewhere in the house. He waited, but when you still didn’t appear, he frowned. That was odd; was one night away simply not long enough for you to enact your signature move? Nah, surely not! Johnnie moved through the house slowly peering into each room trying to figure out where you were - making you eventually call out again, “I’m back here!” He paused, and tipped his head with a little smirk; Oh. Bedroom, right! You probably were really waiting up for him then - and if you were comfortable in bed, he could understand your unwillingness to get out and run to him. Opening the bedroom door, Johnnie understood everything, and bit his lip a little too hard at the sight he was greeted with. Instead of being tucked up in bed you were lying provocatively across it, in fairly sheer - and festive themed - lingerie. The little look on your face was playful as your eyes met his. He tried to hold your eyes for a moment before he swept your body - the artwork of all your tattoos on full display. About the only places you didn’t have any were your face, neck and hands. Other than that, your body was a canvas of gorgeous intricate patterns. He knew the list of stories for each piece was endless, and even Johnnie didn’t think he’d heard all of them yet. You sighed seductively, rolling onto your stomach, propping your head up on your hands and swaying your legs in the air, waiting on him to make a move. “You got any new ones?” You laughed through your nose; “In 2 days? No. But I wouldn’t object to you kissing all your favourites.” “They’re all my favourites.” “Mhm?” Your tongue ran out across your lips as his eyes met yours again. “Is this my Christmas present?” You smirked, “Noooo… but you can have that if you’re good.” Johnnie took a step forward, wicked glint in his eyes as his smirk matched yours; “Well I can’t promise you I’m not about to do something that’ll get me put on the naughty list.” That only made you smirk even harder, and you knelt up, pulling him to you by his jacket. Johnnie’s hands rested on your hips for about half a second, before he started running them over your body. It felt so good to have them back on your skin. You grazed your lips to his, pulling away teasingly when he attempted to deepen the kiss, whisper seductive: “Aw, well, you should let me be the judge of that. I certainly won’t tell anyone.”

Nice to meet you, Mr. Wayne
Bruce X reader.
Summary: The one where (Y/N) tell how she meets Bruce
Tonight was a slow night, Bruce, Dick, and Damian went on patrol. When they saw what a slow night it was. Bruce sent them back to the manor. Now they were sparing with each other. Their mother was working on the Bat-computer while Alfred was upstairs making tea. (Y/N) was giving some directions.
“Now if you go to the left you will be right under them.”While she was talking she heard a thump from behind. She turned around and saw that Damian took dick to the floor. then Dick took Damian foot and slammed him to the ground. “BOY, STOP. you’re going to pop yesterday's stitches” Yelled (Y/N).
Dick lifted his upper body and turned to her. “Don’t worry mom. we’re good.” He said with a nose bleed. Alfred came through the elevator with a tray of cups of tea. He got closer to (Y/N). Has he set the tray down he handed her a cup of tea. The boys got up from the floor and walked closer to them. Alfred handed Damian his cup while he gave Dick a napkin to wipe off the blood.
As they drink their tea, their mother kept staring at the feed that was showing on the monitor. Her children look at her and they could see something in her eyes. That’s when Damian remembered their conversation from two weeks ago. “Mother.” His mother hummed as she kept staring at the monitor and gave a sip of her tea.
“Do you miss it,” Damian mentions looking that his mother. Dick was a bit confused has to why he would say that.
“What do you mean?” Dick question.
“Right you guys weren’t there when she told me. Mother is from a mafia family.”
“WHAT! Since when?” he looked at his mother.
“Well, Dickie if it’s a family a think that is since always.” She said with a slight smile as she raises her cup to her mouth. She looked back at the screen, then back at her children. “Sometimes, not the whole killing, drug dealing, and the kidnapping. But being out there and beating some people up was sort of my specialty. I never really love being the boss but I did enjoy kicking ass.” she said with a smile.
“Well, mother. Can you tell us how you met.”
“Well, I did say I would. It was about 20 years ago”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~20 years ago~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a new life for me while my father was in Black Gate. I was trained by my family, well by my 2 aunts and uncle. I was was not yet accustomed to being a boss, let alone a mafia boss, but for now, I was enjoying the party. I have no idea why I’m here but they just told me that an invitation came for me, which was odd, but not unusual. My father is fairly known through Gotham both good and bad. I the other hand, that was different. He always tried to keep me out of if his work has much has he could. Now that he was gone, he couldn’t. So, I came to his art gallery party. This was unusual for the man who is throwing the party. Bruce Wayne, he normally throngs galas or party at his home but in and art gallery, that was odd.
I thought I could have talked to him. Not, tonight though he was busy keeping the old farts occupied. So, I signed a check and went on my merry way. I have bigger shit to deal with right now. Roman Sionis was parking at the trees, he is trying to get my territory. That shit could get real ugly real fast. Yet, I kept calm and told my men to keep tabs on him one move that was out of place was to be reported to me. Although right now I had another plan in mind. I was going to meet the man who put away her father. The Batman. He will be my gateway to take Roman down, Though he didn’t know that he was going to meet me. So, now I am here in the second tallest building in Gotham. And I am going to through myself to see if he will come and rescue me.
God, it’s cold up here. That is when I heard someone drop onto the roof, I was going to turn but I didn’t cause I knew that is if he sees my face he might know who I am. Then he won’t help me so, I will take my chances with a 1,050ft drop.
“Let me help you.”
“Why?”
“Please step off the ledge”
“No” I stepped forward and went down. I could feel the air pulling my hair up and that is when I felt it. I felt an arm wrapped our my waist and pulled me close to his chest. we landed on a nearby building while I was close to his chest.
“Are you okay?”
“I am now.” I look up at him. He, on the other hand, doesn’t look too happy. The real question is when does he ever.
“What do you want.”
“Well for starters you can be happy to see me.”
“I should be cuffing you to a spot and calling Gordon.”
“And why is that? I haven’t done anything wrong” I said in a sing-song kinda way while I walk to the railing and got a good look of the city. “ Anyway, I’m not here to cause any trouble. I did that little stunt cause I need your help.”
“And with what exactly?”
She turned to face him and her hands were stretched on both sides and said.
“Has much as I don’t like my job, I still have to keep up the fort somehow. An for that I need you you to take Ronan for me.”
“Why would I do that? I don’t do anything for criminals.”
“Yea, well I don’t do plans with the guy that took my dad to jail but what can do. Plus, a little kitty told me you do favors. Has much as she has stolen from me she has a point.”
“Well, I am not interested.”
“Then get interested, because as much as I hate you I need it. Ronan is coming to my territory, and he's going to start a war is he gets any closer. I don’t want that we know that there's going innocent people getting caught in the crossfire now for the love of.  Will you help me.?!” He didn’t look impressed at all he just Hmm’ed. I was mad.
“Fine you wanna do that okay. I won’t do jack shit. I am not my father and I’m trying to clean a little not do worse things around here. So, Hmm’ed all you want I will let that bastard ruin everything to you can pick up all that is left.” I went to the door that leads to the stairs of the building, I opened the door. Before I left I turned and told him. “You are interested you know where to find me”
With that, I left the roof. That night was stressful after I got back I earned an earful about my aunts. Saying that I shouldn’t have gone to him for help. I was thinking they might be right, so, I gave it put for a while and tried to get everything under control.
Once again I was invited to an event, This time wasn’t to a gallery it was to a gala for the mayor. Most of the politicians are corrupted and like any other corrupt politician they need the mob behind them, God all I want is a freaking burger nothing else. All these men and women all pampered and only care for themselves. That pisses me off, why are all these people old there isn't anyone a bit my age to talk to. Now I have to be sitting at my table, alone, with two old pervs and an empty sit that the person has yet to arrive.
"And who are you, Little Miss?" one of the old men said his breath reeking of alcohol. I have no intention of answering. I'm here to talk to the mayor, donate, and leave.
"Aren't you going to answer?" The other man said.
"No," I said with no emotion on my face
"Do you know who we are. I don't even know why your here. This is the VIP table. Why are so important." These men are making me angry. They don't know that I could break their arms.
"I'm here to donate for the mayor and leave. And if I am in this table it means that I'm as important as you men."
" Are you sure you are as important as us or are you just here for the mayors in other business."
"That is in no way to speak to any woman, Please do have some respect." A sudden new voice came from the side of us. A tall man proximally 6' something, he has jet black hair and deep blue eyes. Bruce Wayne was the one missing from the table. Bruce Wayne. What an Ass.
"Mister Wayne, we didn't if you were going to arrive."
"Why are you saying something so stupid." He said as he fixed his bow tie. Damn this man is too handsome for his own good. He took the chair pulled it back and sat down. "If she is here it means she donates the same or more amount of money then you. So, please stop with the degrading."
"We weren't degrading her."
"No, you were just telling her that she may be a prostitute." The men huffed and both of them stood up from their chair and then left the table. Then he turned his attention to me. "Well, I don't think we've met. Do I know you?"
" No, we haven't. But I am certain that everyone in this room including me knows who you are," I say with a slight smile on my face. He smiled back and we started to talk with each other.
“A thank you is in order.”  I take my hand and extended out to shake his hand. "My name is (Y/N) (L/N), Nice to meet you, Mr. Wayne
“ Well, Nice to meet you as well, Miss. (L/N).” He extended his and we shook hands
“What that’s it. Nothing more you just meet and them Boom you got together?!” Said Dick.
“No there’s more but I have things to do tomorrow, and it’s 3 a.m. I don’t want to be late. So, good night, please go to sleep, especially you, Damian.” She pointed at Damian. “You have school tomorrow.” Damian scuffed and crossed his hand.
“Well, good night boys.”
A Devil’s Smile (Vegeta x OC)
Part 1
Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Saturday morning arrived. Golden sunbeams poured through open blinds in a window next to Milla’s bed. Waking up, she blinked a couple of times to try to adjust to the light.
“No use,” Milla thought to herself. “My eyelids feel like they weigh ten pounds each.”
She shifted onto her stomach and plopped her head straight into her pillow.
“So soft.”
Milla breathed in the scent of her pillow in a deep breath. It smelled like apples- the scent of her favorite fabric softener.
Suddenly a wave of realization and horror washed over Milla. She used her arms to push herself up from the pillow, eyes wide.
“Oh my god, what time is it?” Milla whispered aloud. She flipped over and began to rummage through the sheets to try to find her phone.
“Where is it?” Milla said, frantic. “Fuck!”
She unravelled her comforter and shook it until her phone made a loud thud on the floor.
“9:52? No! Fucking shit!”
“3 missed calls?? All from Janice?? Great.”
Milla clicked on the missed call and the phone began to ring. As she was waiting for the phone to pick up, she rushed to the closet, pulling her oversized t-shirt over her shoulders as she walked.
“Hello?” the voice in the phone said.
“Hey, yea,” replied Milla while hopping into one leg of her black slacks. “Is Janice there?”
“No, she left to run errands. Joey’s here though, I’ll give you to him,” said the voice.
“Thank you, dear angels above, for watching over me,” Milla breathed a sigh of relief that it was Joey, her bandmate and coworker that she was going to have to talk to and not her boss, Janice.
“Ya, you’re welcome. Although, I don’t know if I’d fall under the category of angel,” Joey laughed.
“Joey, I overslept.” Milla said.
“No shit. I told Janice I sent you to try to get more of that special printer ink from the Office Depot off of 5th,” Joey said.
“You told me that printer ink was discontinued,” Milla said, with a ponytail holder in between her teeth. Her hands stayed busy pulling her hair back and brushing out bumps with her fingers.
“Uh-huh. But I didn’t tell her that,” Joey said. “That way when you get here and you show up empty handed, at least you have a reason, ya know?”
“Oh ok, nice! Damn, Joey- I owe you!” Milla said.
“Just get me a pack of cigs and some pretzels for lunch and we’ll call it even.”
“You got it. Thanks again, friend.” Milla smiled.
“No problem bud. See ya soon.” Joey replied, and then hung up the phone.
Milla took one last look in the mirror. Her hair was pulled back into a high ponytail and silver jewelry hung from her ears. The jewelry was vintage and an emerald sat in the middle of each earring. The earrings were a prized possession- her grandmother gave them to her the year she started college.
A black blouse with floaty long sleeves and a bow tied loosely around her neck hung slightly off her small frame. The all black outfit made her look put together- professional. Greatly contrasting from the persona she wears at home and on stage during her performances.
A black and white cat curled through Milla’s legs as she leaned against her dining room chair to strap her tall chunky heels onto each foot.
“Okay, Chomps. I promise I’ll feed you in just a moment.”
Chomps continued to rub his head against her ankles and calves aggressively. Just as Milla placed her foot to the floor to walk to the cabinet where she kept the cat food, Chomps placed his teeth on her ankle and bit down- hard.
“OW, fuck, Chomps! Seriously?” Milla yelled. “I said I was on my way to feed you!”
Blood trickled down her ankle onto her heel, but she was already late. No time to waste.
Milla opened the cabinet and pulled out a measuring cup to portion Chomps’s food. He obviously had an food obsession issue. She dumped the food into his bowl, grabbed her keys and ran out the door.
She sat down into her small silver Jetta and started the engine. As she started her car, it reminded her of the night before.
That guy- the one with the black, spiky hair and the death glare. Milla allowed herself to reflect and replay her interaction with him.
She never even got his name. Not that she really cared. What was his problem? He approached her after the show at her car for what reason?
If he wanted to hurt her or be a pervert, there was nothing stopping him. Milla was strong for her small stature, but she was nothing compared to him. He was clearly ripped. She could tell by every muscle in his toned arms, folded over his chest that also appeared to be rock solid. His shoulders were big and built and even though he wasn’t the tallest guy she had ever met, he still towered over her.
“Too bad he’s fucking odd. He’s hot.” Milla thought to herself.
Before she could think any further about the situation, Milla had arrived at work. She walked through the front doors of the doctor’s office and found her desk, acting like she wasn’t an hour and a half late.
“Good morning, Milla. Did you find anything at the Office Depot? I really need that ink.” Janice, the office manager and Milla’s boss said.
Milla took a deep breath and spun around in her chair to face Janice.
“Janice, I’ve got some bad news about that. They discontinued the ink.”
“I have a hard time believing that,” Janice said. “Did you ask to speak to the manager?”
“I did,” Milla said. “I even asked the manager to call the distributor and they said it’s production has been indefinitely suspended.
“Great,” Janice sighed. “Next time can you clock out if you’re going to take more than 30 minutes to drive across town? Thanks.” Without another word, she turned on her heel and left Milla at her desk alone.
“NeXt TiMe CaN YOu ClOck Out,” Milla mocked.
Even though Milla was annoyed by Janice’s never-ending passive aggressive remarks, she was relieved to be relatively unscathed throughout the day.
However, Milla didn’t get to take her lunch break, which means she didn’t have time to get Joey his thank you gifts for saving her behind.
Milla tied up any loose ends and threw her purse over her shoulder. She waved goodbye to her coworkers and she walked to the back of the office to find Joey.
“Hi, friend.” Milla said to Joey, who was slinging his Levi jean jacket over his broad shoulders.
Joey was about 6 foot, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was average build, but his arms and legs were lanky.
Any girl would normally fawn over Joey, but Milla considered him to be like a brother.
“Heading out?” Joey said while grabbing his keys from his desk and sticking them into his jacket pocket.
“Yup. Let me take you out to dinner since I didn’t get to buy you pretzels and cigs.” Milla said, starting towards the back exit of the office.
“I’m down. As long as I get something to smoke and we go somewhere that has the big kind of pretzels.”
Milla laughed. “Sure thing, dude.”
They both climbed into Milla’s Jetta and started driving to one of their favorite breweries, not far from the bar they perform at every Friday night.
On the drive over, Milla lit Joey a joint and told her the story of the guy from the bar. How he met her at her car, got defensive, but never even tried to lay a hand on her.
Joey took a puff and laughed. He told Milla that he assumed the mystery man was probably too nervous to tell her that she was pretty.
Once they got to the brewhouse, they ordered a full flight of beer, pretzels, and a medium pepperoni and basil pizza to share.
They discussed work, talked shit about Janice, and Joey talked about his multiple sketchy encounters with recent hookups.
“Alright, you ready to call it a night?” Joey said.
“Ugh, no I really wanted to finish my beer. It’s only 9:30.” Milla said, pouting at Joey.
“Normally I would stay with you, but I have to meet my mom for breakfast at 8. She’ll have my neck if I’m not there.”
“Understood.” Milla said.
“I’ll just grab an Uber so you don’t have to drive. You should too. Call me if you need anything and please be careful.” Joey said, knowing he couldn’t convince her to leave.
“Ew, you’re not my dad.” Milla laughed. “But yes, I will be extra careful if you insist.”
“Thanks.” Joey patted Milla on the back before heading outside to catch his ride.
About 15 minutes later, Goku, Bulma and Krillin walked into the brewery. They sat at the bar, close enough to Milla to get a hint of who she was.
Goku squinted at Milla. “Hmmm..”
“What is it, Goku?” Krillin asked.
“I feel like I’ve seen that girl somewhere, but I can’t put my finger on where.”
“Ha! I know,” Bulma laughed. “That’s the girl that got Vegeta all flustered!”
“From yesterday? The singer?” Goku asked. “She looks so different!”
“She probably works, Goku. Singing isn’t usually super lucrative.” Bulma explained.
“But she’s so good at it!” Goku said. “Excuse me, miss?”
Goku had moved over so that he and Milla were a seat apart. He tapped on her shoulder to get her attention.
“Uh- Hi.” Milla smiled. “Do I know you?”
The guy appeared relatively harmless and the two friends who joined him gave off good vibes. Milla decided to lessen her guard a little.
“Not really. We saw you sing last night. I just wanted to let you know that we all really enjoyed it!” Goku smiled. “By the way my name is Goku and these are my friends, Krillin and Bulma.”
“Nice to meet you guys. I’m Milla. Thanks for the compliment and for coming out last night. I’d love to see y’all there next Friday as well.” Milla beamed, cheeks a little pink from the alcohol.
“I wouldn’t mind going again,” Bulma said. “Your singing is great but it was pretty great to watch Vegeta get all flustered too.” She laughed.
It suddenly clicked for Milla. The blue haired girl and the guy with the nice smile were the ones who were at the table with the grumpy mystery man.
“Vegeta?” Milla moved her head to the side a little. “That’s the guy who got embarrassed and left after I flirted with him, right?”
“Yup. That’s Vegeta!” Goku laughed. “He’s a little hard around the edges but he’s a good guy.”
“Hard around the edges. That’s one way to explain it.” Milla said eyebrows raised. She took another swig of her stout beer.
“Wait-,” Krilled said. “You sound like you know Vegeta.”
“Hardly.” Milla smiled. “He approached me at my car after the show.”
Bulma laughed. “So that’s where he went! It doesn’t sound like he made the best impression.”
Milla puffed up her chest and held her arms out to the side like she had big muscles. “If you knew who you were talking to, you wouldn’t be laughing. Foul woman!” Milla said, imitating Vegeta.
The four of them shared a laugh before Goku was pulled off his barstool.
“Kakarot! Did you forget about our night training? I’ve been waiting for over 30 minutes and I find you HERE of all places, doing god knows what with-“
Before Vegeta could continue, Milla placed her hand on Vegeta’s shoulder.
“Dude. Shut up, relax. Drink a beer or something before your head explodes.”
Vegeta’s face pulled in a snarl as he looked to see who would have the nerve to say such a thing. His eyes met with Milla’s and his expression turned from anger to shock.
Bulma, Goku, and Krillin sat and watched. They were surprised at Milla’s bluntness with volatile and moody Vegeta.
“You,” Vegeta said, brushing Milla’s hand off of his shoulder. “What are you doing here? Are you all just friends now or something?”
“And what does it matter to you?” Milla laughed.
“Ugh.” Vegeta scoffed. “You’re intoxicated.”
He crossed his arms and inhaled the air again. “And you’re bleeding.”
“What?” Milla furrowed her brow in confusion. She was definitely weirded out again.
He leaned down to follow the smell.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Milla cursed at Vegeta.
“Here.” Vegeta brushed his finger against the bite marks on her ankle. “Looks like some kind of small animal marked you.”
Milla then remembered that this morning she didn’t have time to attend to her wound from Chomps.
“Oh, you’re right. That was Chomps.” Milla and Vegeta’s eyes met once more.
“Wow, Vegeta! That’s crazy how you knew that just by smelling.” Goku said.
Vegeta scoffed and rolled his eyes in response.
“Who’s Chomps?” Krillin asked.
“My cat. He bites when he’s hungry, so I named him Chomps.” Milla said.
“Hmph. Your cat and I have something in common then.” Vegeta said while giving Milla a sly grin.
“Kakarot, I’ll let you play your little games for now. But I will not be as lenient if you fail to show for training tomorrow morning. ON TIME.”
Before Milla could even process Vegeta’s words, he had already left.
“Looks like someone has a little crush on Milla,” Bulma said and gave Milla an encouraging wink.
“What’s his deal?” Milla asked. “Why can’t he just buy me a beer or ask me out like any normal human being.”
“Probably because he’s a Saiyan!” said Goku. “And so am I!”
“A what?” Milla said, looking lost.
“I can explain it all later,” Bulma said. “If you’re free you should come over to my place tomorrow night and I can fill you in. I could make dinner for everyone!”
“Are you sure we can’t do it tonight,” Goku whined. “I’m hungry.”
“Goku, you just cleared the wing place we went to of their entire inventory for the week. You don’t think you can wait until tomorrow?” Krillin asked.
“I guess.” Goku pouted. He quickly perked up. “Can you come, Milla? It’d be so fun to have you there!”
“Sure, I can go.” Milla said. She was apprehensive, but the kind nature of the three in front of her and the craft beer bubbling through her system told her to not worry about it.
“Great! Do you have an iPhone?” Bulma asked.
Milla dug in her pockets and pulled out her iPhone.
“Awesome,” Bulma said. “I’ll just connect to your phone through mine and give you all of our numbers, and it’ll put your number into our phones.”
At this point, Milla was ready to go home and sleep. She nodded her head in agreement.
“You look tired Milla, do you need a ride home?” Krillin asked, aware of how quiet Milla had gotten.
“Please.” Milla replied, her eyes fighting to stay open.
“I can help. Where do you live?” Goku said.
“Apple Cove apartments. Not too far from the Sprint skyscraper.” Milla said.
“Got it! Put your hand on my shoulder.” Goku smiled at Milla, helping her onto her feet from the bar.
“It’s okay, Goku I can walk.” Milla said.
“Just trust me.” Goku looked down at Milla and held his hand out.
Milla reluctantly gave her hand to Goku and he placed it on his shoulder. Milla’s arm was almost completely extended, making the height difference between the two of them glaringly obvious.
Krillin chuckled. “Man, I thought I was short.”
“Bye Milla! See you tomorrow at the party!” Bulma said as she waved.
“Bye, nice meeting you. See you tomorrow.”
Goku placed his fingers to his forehead and before Milla could blink again, she was in front of her apartment complex.
“Holy shit, am I really that drunk?” Milla said, eyes wide.
“It’s instant transmission. Pretty cool, huh?”
“I’m not even going to crack open that can of worms tonight,” Milla said before hiccuping.
“Is it okay if I walk you to your apartment?” Goku asked.
“No really, you’ve done a lot. Thank you for all your kindness.” Milla said.
“Please. I wouldn’t feel too good if anything bad happened to you.” Goku said while scratching the back of his neck.
“Okay-“ Milla said reluctantly. “Promise you’re not creepy?”
“I don’t think I’m creepy?” Goku said innocently while looking at Milla.
“I don’t think you are either,” Milla chuckled between hiccups.
Goku walked Milla to her apartment, made sure she was settled, and even fed Chomps.
She was fast asleep by the time he was ready to go home. Goku pressed his fingers to his forehead and transmitted to the kitchen of Capsule Corp.
“Boy am I starving!” Goku said while rubbing his stomach.
“Kakarot.” Vegeta said, standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
“Oh, hi Vegeta,” Goku said with his head in the fridge. “Did you come to get snacks too?”
“What I was doing in this kitchen before you got here is none of your business.” Vegeta said, pushing the bags of fruit snacks further into the pocket of his black sweatpants.
“Oh. Okay.” Goku said. “That Milla girl is really nice, the singer one?”
“So that’s her name. She has an attitude,” Vegeta stated plainly.
“I’m guessing that’s something you like in women.” Goku shrugged, a plate with an entire turkey in his hands.
“Kakarot-“ Vegeta growled, stepping closer to Goku.
“Good news, she’s coming to Bulma’s get together tomorrow night. You’ll get to spend more time with her. If you play your cards right, you might be able to have a normal conversation with her too.” Goku laughed.
“Why do you smell of her?” Vegeta asked.
“I took her home. She was pretty drunk and I didn’t want her to try to make it home alone.” Goku said in between bites. “You could’ve taken her if you would’ve stayed longer.
Vegeta scoffed and walked out of the room. “Training. 8 AM. DON'T be late.”
