Baby of the family OR Birthday wishes are tricky pt 1 (Power pack)
Baby of the family OR Birthday wishes are tricky
It was Alex's 15th birthday and while he found the party his parents were throwing him to be a little cheesy and childish. He did understand though at a certain level this party wasn't just for him even though it should of been. Being the oldest meant his needs were put on the back burner for Julie or Jack's or Katie's needs, and toss in Katie was STILL wetting the bed at 8 years old (and wearing pull ups for longer car trips) and well, he'd basically had to become a mini adult. it was Katie and Jack who drew his attention now, watching them run around the living room with Jack having apparently stolen Katie's stuffie again. 'You know, for someone who so desperately wants to be man of the house..he needs to stop being such a bully.' Alex thought and went to move over to stop him. "Don't worry Birthday boy, I got this." Julie said, holding up a hand and marching over. his oldest sister and still younger then him, Alex smirked as he watched Julie snag jack by the ear and march him over to say sorry to Katie. having a big sister like Katie would of been sooo cool growing up, he watched Julie interact with Katie and Jack lots and while her and Jack didn't always get along, she tried. "alright everyone, to the table. time for the birthday boy to blow out the candle!" Came Mr.Parker's voice. His parents just knew of him as a nice guy who had recently moved into the neighborhood to help look after his aunt but of course Alex and the others knew the truth. Mousey gentle Peter Parker was really spider-man. And he wasn't even the only superhero at the party! of course with the kids being the hero team known as power pack one would expect a few heroes to show up but mom and dad were actually STILL clueless about the powers. That said Jack being best friends with Franklin Richards, AKA the son of Reed and Sue Richards meant that not only Franklin but Johnny and Sue had a excuse to come over. (the thing while loving birthday party's had excused himself apparently upset when he was told he couldn't go in the bounce house this time, while reed who Alex had hoped would show up had gotten busy with a experiment.) Mix in the other kids who'd been invited and a whole lotta people were singing happy birthday to Alex as his barbie princess cake (He'd made the mistake of asking Katie to pick out a cake for him) was carried over and he closed his eyes and thought of a wish. 'I wish I could be the baby of the family for once. see what it's like to be like Katie.' he thought, then blew.
The party went on for awhile longer but soon guests were excused and some of the family had to get ready for bed.  and by some of the family that meant Katie on her back in the living room, both hands on a sippy cup of warm milk and watching the last of a cartoon movie as Julie got her tapped up in her thick bed time diapers. Of course they didn't WANT to put the 8 year old back in diaper diapers, but without how much Katie flooded the bed there was no choice. heck, the car trip Pull up's were starting not to be enough. the sippy cup was because once it got close to her bed lately Katie seemed to zone out and as funny as seeing her dump a drink on her face was, the clean up was awful and she had started asking for warm milk before bed and no one wanted her to burn herself. "hey Alex, I know your the birthday boy and all, but my show is coming on and if I don't claim the tv now Jack will put it on something stupid and say he was there first just to tick me off...you mind?" Julie asked, scooping up the almost asleep now padded Katie and offering her to him. "heh, I got this." Alex said and took Katie who oddly..seemed heavier then normal. 'must be from all the sweets she packed away.' Alex thought and struggling to not show he was having a little bit of trouble, carried her up the stairs.
with Katie bear in bed, Alex yawned big time and headed for the bathroom. it was only going on 8 pm but he felt just wiped as he paused to look in the mirror. 'no bags under my eyes and I look ok..maybe it's just sugar crash.' Alex thought and shrugged. Normally one to put off his shower till right before bed, Alex started the water running and heating up as he stripped and answered natures call, then got in and started to wash himself. on a silly whim he made use of one of the pink extra soft cloths they used on Katie because of her baby soft skin and also used some of the fruity smelling princess shampoo she had, giggling and picturing a old bugs bunny cartoon as he lathered up his hair.
Downstairs Julie and Jack exchange puzzled faces as the water started up for a shower. Mom and dad were a few doors down meeting aunt May and Alex never went for a early shower unless forced too. heck, you could set a clock to his shower time! "..Maybe Katie sprung a leak already and he's cleaning her?" Jack suggest and shrugged a little. "no way! those new diapers are MASSIVE! even a little pee princess like her couldn't make them leak THIS fast." Julie said shaking her head. "welp, that's all I got. Maybe he just wanted to cover up the sound of his taking a massive dump. you KNOW how much he blushes when we tease him." Jack laughed. "Pffft yeah..mister gruntzilla. I think the whole block knows when he's going he grunts and whimpers so loud. " Julie snickered. "Remember when Katie knocked down the bathroom door convinced he was being attacked because he kept going..oh god..what was it.." "Oh! 'please god please god Oh oH oHHH!'" Julie said, mimicking Alex's whimpers of despair. "Bwhahahaha yeah! That was when he took too much diarrhea medicine because he had to give a speech to the whole school and kept getting the runs." "then couldn't unload for five days. yeah. Mom and Dad were gonna take him to the ER if he hadn't of gone when he did." the middle siblings laughed and shared more embarrassing stories about their respective roomies as the TV show was forgotten.
Alex was swaying back and forth on his feet, having fallen asleep standing up in the shower and only woken up when the cold water hit him. He was shivering a little from that but mostly moved as if drunk he was just sooo tired out of the blue and hauled himself out of the shower and turned it off and grabbed a large white towel and started to dry himself but was doing a worse job of it then Katie had when she was 5. shrugging it off he just wrapped it around him like a damp clock and made his way into his way into his and Jack's room, and headed for his dresser. deciding to go with a KISS solution since he was so tired, Alex just tugged on a pair of old white briefs (he'd been avoiding them lately despite liking their cut better then boxers because Jack kept calling them toddler pants) Tossing the wet towel in the hamper Alex stumbled over to his bed and plopped down, face first and was out like a light before he could even cover up.
around 9 was Jack's bed time and their parents where back, having asked where Alex was and Julie and Jack told them as far as they knew, he'd gone to bed. Making his way upstairs Jack had 'somehow' managed to put off taking his shower and gosh, would just have to get it in tomorrow. It wasn't that Jack didn't care for showers or liked being stinky, just there was ALWAYS something better to do then take a shower. Coming into the room he shared with his dweeb of a big brother, Jack noted that the light was still on which meant Alex had to of been super tired since he was super OCD about turning off lights if they weren't being used. Looking over Jack snorted at the site of Alex on his back, legs and left arm sprawled out in his bed while he was sucking on his right thumb, in just his toddler pants. 'what a doofus.' Jack thought and shook his head. Doofus or not, he was still his brother and Jack didn't want the dork to get a cold.  with that in mind he tugged Alex's Blanket up over him, then as a after thought grabbed one of his own old stuffies (that he was keeping around because they'd be worth money some day. not that he still totally needed ot loved them!) and held out Mr. Fuzzy wuzzy , having it brush on the blonds arm. Alex reached out with his free arm in his sleep, coming out from under the blanket and whined around his thumb. "whoa..too much cake and pop and Alex goes baby brained! awesome!" Jack thought with a grin but then let the big toddler have the stuffie and huggle it. 'I'm going soft in old age.' Jack thought to himself then after changing into just his boxers got the lights and climbed into bed.
In a universe where a god of Myth fought alongside with a world war 2 hero, a man who had built his own battle armor and well, any number of different heroes and villains and forces exist, it was amazing that random wishes weren't picked up by more cosmic being's who might just answer them. and for the most part, it's a good thing that most of these are ignored because Alex was about to learn what happened when a simple wish can get granted, at least to a degree.
Alex hung his head in shame as he showed his parents what had happened the next morning. Having always told Julie, Jack and many many times Katie that they should be honest with their parents if they have accidents, it had been Alex's turn to practice what he preached when he'd woken up this morning in a very soggy bed. Thankfully it didn't smell THAT bad and mom and dad were going to open the windows and air out the mattress in the back yard, but Alex was still SUPER ashamed. He'd of course gone and gotten washed up but came back to find the others in his and Jack's room, and two out of three of them were being less then nice with no mom or dad in site to call them off. "Sheesh, and I thought I dodged having to deal with anything worse then you with a milkshake in you!" Jack said, holding his nose and waving a hand. "Oh puh-lkease. you think this is bad? try waking up in a diaper pail everyday because of pee princess here." Julie said, and jerked a thumb at Katie. "H-hey! don't be meanies!" Katie huffed and then turned to a mortified Alex, patting his leg. "It's OK Alex, accidents happen. but worse case you can come into my room. as Julie said..it uh..kinda smells.." "Kinda?" Julie asked and then shuddered. "and that's all i need, twin pee fountains going off in stereo." "I-it's not that bad!" Alex whined. "and really? Little miss farts rainbows is gonna start giving lip about sleeping arrangements!?!" Katie added as Julie's cheeks flared red now. "we talked about that,m you're not su-" "and YOUR not 'pose to complain about me either. fair's fair." Katie said and nodded her head. Alex gave Katie a weak smile. "heh, thanks for coming to my defense..kinda, Katie bear." Alex said and gave er a hug. He was sure this would prove to be a just one time thing, and as such, tried to put it out of his mind as much as he could when a look out the window showed his mattress being set up in the back yard.

Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better
Pairing: Stanley Uris x OC (female) Warnings: cursing
Summary: Quinn had spent her whole life protecting other women from the dangers of men. When she met Stanley, she thought he was just like every other boy she had come across, sex craved and egotistical. Although one of those was correct, that didn’t stop the feelings she felt towards him form.
A/N: this is my first fanfic i’ve posted on here and i honestly feel like a mom on snapchat. if you like it please let me know and i might continue writing things like these in the future! (i’m really sorry if this sucks)
Tumblr media
Even though Quinn Macey had moved to Derry less than three months ago, that didn't stop her from making tons of friends. They loved her outgoing and sarcastic personality and the fact that she didn't take shit from anyone. She wouldn't constantly stick up for them at school and in town if there was a guy trying desperately to get into their pants. She was often nicknamed spitfire or hot head or a string of other names, drawing inspiration from her short temper and red hair.
It was no secret that in the three short months she'd lived in Derry, she gained a string of female friends partly because she refused to talk to any of the boys at school or on town. It was her own personal grudge that she held against every living male. They didn't cause anything but trouble in her opinion and the only thing on their mind was sex.
Because of her refusal of boys, many of them and even a few girls had coined her as lesbian, not that she minded. She dressed girly enough, but when she wanted to she could get down and dirty, playing a variety of sports. In her old town, she played on a softball team that won a few state-wide games. She had also dabbled in football and soccer. Though soccer wasn't her favorite, she played it anyway.
When she moved to Derry, she had to quit her team and say goodbye to her friends, which she probably won't hear of again. Starting at the end of the school year might have been hard for anyone else opposite of Quinn. She decided to start out nice, warming up to everyone but when a few guys tried hitting on her, she quickly put her in their place and made it clear she wasn't interested. They had bugged her over and over. If it was just some one time thing she might have looked passed it but since they kept on pestering her, she had to take matters into her own hands.
The last day of school was nearing an end and Quinn found herself eyeing the clock. Her reasoning behind staring at the gadget was nothing more than "maybe if I stare hard enough it'll tick faster." It obviously didn't get the memo, and continued ticking at its agonizingly slow pace.
Maybe it was the sun shining from outside through the classroom window onto her skin, or the fact that she couldn't wait to get out of the retched classroom and was bouncing her leg up and down so much that she had broken out into a small sweat but one thing was certain: today had to be the hottest day of the year.
Quinn thought of the regret she had for wearing jeans and had her hair down while she fanned herself off with her right hand. She had already tied her shirt up as high as the school would allow but it didn't help because of the broken AC system in the class she was in. She looked outside, seeing the seniors leave school early, being dismissed by the teachers because they were upperclassmen and did the calculations in her head. If the seniors already walked out, they must have been released by the teachers, like everyday, five minutes before school let out. Quinn started counting down from 300 in her head.
297, 296, 295.
She couldn't focus on whatever the teacher was saying. The small heat stroke she was having didn't help with focusing either.
230, 229, 228.
She leaned her head back, fanning her neck and wrists. Her once ice filled water bottle became a lake of boiling lava in her metal cup.
134, 133, 132.
Quinn wondered if she had gotten to the halfway mark or already passed it while she was counting. She didn't think she could take one more minute of being without air. Black spots clouded her vision and she lied her head against the window.
97, 96, 95.
She was getting so close. Less than a hundred seconds to go until she could escape the body heat filled room and into the hot summer air. At least she would feel something other than hot.
Quinn was two seconds away from ripping her shirt off and using it as a noose when the bell rang. She sprung up as fast as she could and bolted out of the door. One of her friends, Savannah, walked by her and Quinn grabbed her arm.
"I'm dying," she said in between pants.
Savannah raised an eyebrow at the dramatic girl in front of her. "You good?"
"Do I look good?" Quinn retorted. "I am the definition of lava. If you look it up in the dictionary you'll see a picture of me melting."
"I take it you're hot?"
"How are you not? It's literally two hundred degrees out!"
Savannah rolled her eyes and closed her locker. Ah head just cleaned everything out and placed it all into her book bag. With an amused smile, she looked down at Quinn who had her head against the tall blue lockers. "Wanna go swimming?"
The words sparked energy into Quinn's body. Suddenly, she didn't realize that she had drops of sweat rolling down her face or the bottom of her hair had stuck to her neck. All she cared about was the cool release of hitting the cool body of water and cooling off.
At the mention of swimming, Savannah watched Quinn's eyes widen and laughed. "I'm guessing that's a yes?"
"That's a hell yes!"
Quinn and Savannah hopped out of Savannah's car and Quinn had never undressed herself so fast in her entire life. She stripped down to her underwear and immediately ran and jumped off the cliff that towered over the river. Savannah looked over the edge, worried when her friend didn't pop back up but let out a sigh of relief when Quinn's head poked its familiar red hair out of the water.
"Come in it feels so nice!" She yelled up at the brunette looking over the rocks.
"I don't know, Q. It's pretty high up."
"Just jump! It'll be over in an instant!"
Savannah shook her head and backed away from the edge. "I can't do it."
Quinn rolled her eyes and swam to land. She crawled out of the water and hiked back up to where Savannah was standing. Her wet body weighed her down but the second she rang her hair out it felt as if she lost five pounds.
"Here," Quinn grabbed Savannah's hand. "I'll jump with you."
"Quinn," the brunette whined.
"Don't whine, you baby. It's just a few feet."
"A few feet?" Savannah yelled with wide eyes. "Girl, that is at least three hundred feet."
"Maybe, but once you jump you'll realize it's not that high at all."
"Yeah, but I'm not jumping."
Quinn groaned. "Sav, I'm gonna day this in the nicest way possible: stop being such a pussy and jump."
Savannah frowned. "That was you being nice?"
Quinn shrugged and cornered Savannah where she was back to the edge. "You're either gonna hump or I'm gonna push you. You're choice."
"Quinn," Savannah warned. "You better back up." The ginger smirked and an evil glint shone across her eyes.
If it weren't for a group of teenage boys pulling up on their bikes behind them, Savannah would've been done for. The girls' head snapped around to see who had joined them. There were four boys, obviously outnumbering them and probably had the same idea they had after school let out. They threw their bikes to the ground and some removed their shoes while the other removed their shirts, obviously not noticing the two girls half naked in front of them.
Stanley turned his head to the direction of the cliff, sprinting over to it but stopped when he saw the girls. "Um, what're you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing," Quinn said with a little more attitude than she meant.
"Well, obviously we're gonna swim. So, why don't you too head home and play with some Barbies or whatever."
Quinn scoffed and Savannah sighed, knowing what her friend would do in this situated. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me," Stanley rolled his eyes. "Get lost."
"I'm sorry, who was here first?"
By now, the rest of the boys came over to their friend, backing him up against the girls or one girl in particular. "We come here every summer so it's our hangout," Richie said.
"Oh, sorry. Well just be on our way then."
Stanley crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows when she didn't move.
"What, you thought I was serious?" Quinn bitterly laugh. "I knew boys were dumb, but I didn't think they were that dumb."
"W-We're not d-dumb!" Bill replied.
"Well?" Stanley said.
"Well what?"
"Leave already!"
Quinn put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes. "No. We were clearly here first. Doesn't matter if you guys come here every summer or not."
"You must be new around here cause this is our space," Richie spike.
"And so what if I am? I don't see your name on this cliff."
Stanley glared at the girl in front of him. "Who do you think you are?"
"Quinn Macey." She smiled almost taunting him to keep bugging her, which he gladly did.
"Well, Quinn Macey, why don't you and your friend head home before you get yourself jumping off this cliff."
Quinn grabbed Savannah's hand protectively. "Her name is Savannah and I've already jumped it. But you pretty boys are probably too chicken to jump aren't you?"
Stanley scoffed and walked forward, making the friends behind him walk forward too. "You think we can't jump it?"
"Nah I don't think that's it. Maybe it's the fact that you're just threatened by two girls who rightfully deserve to stay at your precious little river."
Stanley laughed. "You think we're threatened by you? A spoiled brat that can't stand not getting what she wants?"
"You little-" Before Quinn could get close to Stanley, Savannah held her back by her arms. Quinn obviously struggled against Savannah's grip but the brunette wasn't looking for a fight, she just wanted to swim.
"Stan, maybe we could just share it," Eddie whispered to the curly headed boy in front of him. He also wasn't looking for a fight and wanted to remain peaceful, knowing Stan was too stubborn to give up and Quinn probably was the same.
"Share? Ed, have you gone crazy? Why would we share the river with some random girls?"
"Well, I don't really wanna fight over it and it seems like the best option. We both get what we want," Eddie shrugged.
"I-I'm fine w-with sharing," said Bill.
"Not you too," Stan sighed and looked at Richie. "Rich, tell them sharing's not an option."
Richie looked away from Stanley, kickoff the dirt underneath him. "I mean, all I want to do is swim. I guess it wouldn't matter if there are chicks in the water or not."
Stanley groaned. "Fine."
"So you guys are leaving?" Quinn asked, crossing her arms.
"No, we're gonna share," Eddie explained. "That way we both can swim."
Quinn raised an eyebrow. "No way. There's no way-"
Savannah cut Quinn off. "We'll take it!" At the ginger's gaze she shrugged. "What? I want to swim."
"Good." With that the boys finished taking off their clothes, leaving them in only underwear.
"So, are we swimming with strangers or..." Savannah trailed off.
"That's Bill, Eddie, and Stanley," Richie introduced, "and I'm Richie."
"Savannah and Quinn," the brunette formally introduced.
Stanley and Quinn kept glaring at each other during the introductions as if the first person to look away would lose their little mind game between just the two of them. During this time, Eddie, Bill, and Richie had already jumped from the cliff. Quinn obviously had no intention of moving her gaze until Savannah grabbed her arm. She cursed herself when her head turned to meet Savannah's gaze. Stanley held a satisfying smirk on his face because he had won their staring contest.
"Q, I'm just gonna take the long way down."
Quinn frowned. "No jumping?"
"You know I'm terrified of heights."
"Fine. I'll be down in a minute."
Savannah walked away leaving Quinn alone with Stanley. Stan walked up next to her and got into position for a running start. Quinn followed his actions, giving him a challenging smirk. Stanley narrowed his eyes and shifted his gaze ahead. They took off at the same time, another wordless challenge adapted to see who could jump the farthest.
Quinn thought for sure she jumped farthest and swam back up to the surface with a satisfying smile on her face. That was until she saw Stanley pop his head up and flip the hair out of his eyes. He was just a few feet in front of her and a frown formed on her face when she saw the teasing glint in his eyes as if he was dying to annoy her by saying he had gotten farther than her.
With a huff, Quinn swam over to where Savannah had gotten in at and began chatting with her, occasionally swimming further out to get away from the boys.
Stan tried his best hiding the looks he gave Quinn from afar but the boys had caught on since he wasn't that good at hiding. Richie splashed Stan's face to stop him from staring.
Stanley wiped his face and glared at Richie. "What was that for?"
Richie smirked. "You were staring."
"Was not."
"We're to."
Eddie joined in. "It was kind of obvious that you were staring, Stan."
"Stan l-likes Q-Quinn," Bill teased.
Stanley splashed Bill in the face to shut him up. "No I don't. I'm just annoyed that they're here."
"I'm not," said Eddie. He turned to the girls that were a little further out than they were. "Hey, guys!"
Their heads turned to the voice shouting at them. Stan's eyes went wide as he hit Eddie in the arm. "What are you doing?" He whispered.
Eddie shrugged. "Inviting them over for a game." He turned to the girls that started swimming over, led by Savannah. "Wanna chicken fight?"
"How do you play?" Savannah asked. The boys stood on the shallower end so when the girls came up, the water was up to their chests. Quinn stood behind Savannah with her arms crossed, not particularly wanting to be around Stanley.
"One person gets on another person's shoulders and fights the other team. The first first to knock the other off, wins," Eddie explained.
"Okay, who's gonna get on who?" Quinn questioned.
"We'll switch it up so it doesn't really matter right now."
"Okay, Savannah. Hop on." Quinn went under water and let Savannah climb on top of her shoulders. When she was on, Quinn went back above water and grabbed onto Savannah's thighs so that she wouldn't go anywhere.
"How the hell did you-" Richie started but was interrupted by Quinn.
"Sav's a twig. She weighs, like, two pounds."
Richie got on Bill's shoulders while Eddie and Stanley watched. Richie and Savannah grasped hands and started fighting. Bill and Quinn navigated to help better their team's chances at winning by moving from side to side or forwards and backwards. It was a tough fight, but eventually Richie was the victor. Richie yelled how proud he was and Bill shook him off his shoulders.
"Who's next bitches?" Richie asked, ready for another round.
"I wanna go," Quinn announced. Savannah seemed to have a lot of fun and it would be extremely satisfying to knock one of the boys off. "Sav?"
Savannah's eyes widened. "Um, no offense, but I'm not as strong as you."
Quinn playfully glared at her. "Are you calling me fat?"
"Don't worry, Quinn. Stan's pretty strong, he'll be able to hold you," Richie winked.
"I'm not fat!"
"Alright, Eddie get your ass over here so I can get on your shoulders. Quinn you get on Stan's shoulders," Richie instructed. Stan and Quinn's eyes widened at the boy's words.
"No way!" They yelled in unison.
"Everyone else has gone. Stop being losers so we can play the game."
"Fine," Stanley huffed and went under water so Quinn would have an easier time of getting on. After a few seconds, he still didn't feel her weight on his shoulders and popped back up. "You just gonna let me drown?"
"That was the plan," Quinn admitted with a smirk on her face.
"Will you just get on, brat?"
"Don't get your panties in a twist." Stanley dipped back under water and Quinn crossword over his shoulders. He came back up and placed his hands a little too high up for Quinn's comfort. She smacked them away but the second she started falling back tugged on Stan's hair. His neck got hot and the tips of his ears went red. "Got a thing for hair pulling, pretty boy?"
"I won't hesitate to let go," Stanley warned.
The truth of the matter was that Stanley was beet red. Only Eddie and Richie could see him like this and to anyone else they would've thought that Stan was just having a tough time keeping Quinn up. Except that was the opposite of what was happening. Stanley was quite strong as he used the muscles in his legs to hoist them up out of the water.
It just so happened that the mix of hair pulling (one of his turn ons), the fact that her stomach was up against his head, and the his touch on her thighs made him blush all over. Oh, and also because her crotch was sitting on the back of his neck.
Quinn and Richie joined hands and the boy knew that if Stanley was in his place he would've had a field day at what he was witnessing. Because Quinn was bent over and her arms had squeezed to the sides of her breasts to meet Richie's arms, her boobs had smushed together. Richie didn't dare look but he could still see them from where he looked on her face.
They fought back and forth, Quinn pushing at Richie and the other way around. She would occasionally grab onto Stan's head to regain her balance and when she did, Stanley backed up so that Richie wouldn't take the opportunity to knock her off. After a few minutes of struggling on both ends, Quinn eventually pushed Richie off Eddie's shoulders.
The boy went down with a loud yell and defeated, emerged from the water with a frown. "I really just got beat by a girl."
Quinn had a proud smile on her face. "Don't take it personal, I'm just stronger than you." She patted Stanley's head. "You can let me down now."
Stanley went under water and released his grip on Quinn's thighs. Once he didn't feel her on him anymore, he returned to the surface, almost bumping into her. Neither said anything, but both had a small blush on their cheeks as they swam to their separate groups.
Savannah didn't miss the pink tint on Quinn's cheeks and shared a knowing look with Eddie. She and Eddie walked onto land that was about two yards away to get away from the others.
"So, are they in love or are they in love?" Savannah laughed.
"All of the above," Eddie responded with a smile similar to the girl in front of him and looked at Quinn and Stanley who were hiding behind both Richie and Bill.
"And what are we gonna do about it?" Savannah asked, rocking on her feet.
"What do you mean?"
Savannah rolled her eyes. "Well, if we're gonna set them up we gotta have a plan."
"Oh, right. How about we all go to the movies and make them sit next to each other?" His eyes suddenly went wide at the thought he had. "And they can share a bucket of popcorn!"
"Shh," Savannah shushed him. "That's a good idea. But what movie are we gonna see?"
"How about a horror movie?" Eddie suggested.
"That's genius! I know Quinn and she gets scared easily. A scary movie will have her jumping into his arms."
"The theater's doing a rerun of all the eighties scary movies on Saturdays. So tomorrow they'll be playing A Nightmare on Elm Street."
Savannah nodded. "We'll be there."
"Are you gonna be scared?"
Savannah laughed at his question. "Hell no. If there's one thing I have over Quinn it's scary movies. I love them, she hates them."
"Alright, we'll meet you guys there at six, okay? By the time we get out, it'll be dark."
"I'll make an excuse on why I can't take her home and then Stan'll have to walk her." She wiggled her eyebrows.
After a few more hours in the water, it started getting dark out, which meant it was time to leave. Quinn decided against putting on her jeans and instead slipped her shirt over her head and put on her socks and shoes. Her shirt was rather large because it was her mom's so it came down a little above the bottom of her butt, still showing the underwear underneath.
Savannah didn't miss Stanley's stare directed towards Quinn's body and held a big smile on her face. Once in the car, Quinn questioned why Savannah was smiling so large.
"Cause I have a huge crush on Stanley Uris."
Quinn didn't sense the joking tone in her voice and replied with a simple, "Oh."
Savannah snorted at her friend who stared out the window like her soul had just collapsed. "I'm just kidding, he's all yours."
Quinn's head snapped to the driver and scowled. "I do not have a crush on Stanley. Did you not witness what I witnessed today? He was an ass."
"Or maybe, he was having a bad day."
"Or maybe, he's an ass."
Savannah rolled her eyes and continued driving. "Wanna go see a movie tomorrow with the boys?"
"Is-"
Savannah interrupted Quinn's question. "Is Stan gonna be there? Yes."
Quinn glared. "That's not what I was gonna ask. Is someone gonna pay for my ticket? Cause I don't have any money."
"I'll pay for you, sugar baby." Savannah winked.
"Thanks daddy." The girls erupted into laughter.
The next day, Savannah showed up at Quinn's house just before five. Quinn was still getting ready as Savannah walked into her room. She was contemplating whether or not to wear her smaller hoops or go bold and wear larger ones. "Which ones?"
Savannah raised an eyebrow at Quinn's attire. She wore a short blue sundress that had no sleeves and reached just above her mid thigh. It might have been one of the shortest dresses she owned but it definitely wasn't number one. She didn't wear any makeup, like always, but had lip gloss on her lips.
"The small ones," Savannah decided and watched Quinn put them on in the mirror. "Is all this for Stanley?"
"Will you shut up? It's hot outside and I am not making the same mistake as yesterday."
"I'm guessing that's the same for the earrings, lip gloss, and perfume?"
Quinn have her a look. "We're going to the movies with a group of people. Why not get a little dolled up?
They hung out for awhile at Quinn's house until it was time to leave. They both hopped in Savannah's car and drove into town where they would meet the boys at the movie theater. Savannah had yet to tell Quinn what movie they were going to see but she could only assume it wasn't something sappy if the boys were tagging along. Or maybe they were tagging along with the boys. Either way, they were going to see a movie and Quinn hoped it was going to be good.
The boys were already waiting for them as they pulled up and parked. Quinn noticed there was one less male from yesterday and furrowed her eyebrows as they neared the group. "Where's Stanley?"
Eddie and Savannah looked at each other knowingly while Richie responded. "He's inside away from the heat. We've been here for awhile."
"It is pretty hot out," Quinn admitted. "How long have you guys been here?"
"Since four thirty. Eddie forgot what time we needed to be here so we've just camped out waiting for you two," Richie explained.
"Well, lets go in and buy our tickets."
Savannah bought her and Quinn's ticket while the boys bought theirs. When it came to who was getting popcorn, Bill and Richie would share a bucket, so would Savannah and Eddie and Quinn and Stanley.
"Wait, why can't we share a bucket?" Quinn asked Savannah as she took the bucket of buttery popcorn in her hands. Movie theater popcorn was her favorite kind of popcorn. It was popped fresh in front of you and you could determine how much butter you wanted on it.
"Cause I'm not sitting next to you. I'm sitting next to Eddie," Savannah said as they walked into the theater where the movie was playing.
Eddie sat next to Savannah, who was adjacent to Bill and Richie. Quinn found herself sandwiches between Richie and Stanley. A duo she didn't know if she could handle without her open minded friend. Reluctantly, she handed the bucket of popcorn to Stanley. If she wanted some later, she'd grab it herself. When she usually shared, Quinn would set the popcorn on the arm rest but right now she wanted to rest her arm on it.
After what seemed liked a thousand previews of every movie other than the one they were watching, the movie started. The theater went black and the only lights were the emergency ones and the big screen in front of them. Quinn grabbed popcorn and shoved it in her mouth, almost chocking when she saw the title come up on the screen.
THE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Quinn watched in horror with wide eyes then turned to her left, looking over Richie and Bill and scowled at Savannah who was happily eating popcorn. Resting her back into the chair, Quinn sank down and mentally groaned.
"What is it?" Stanley whispered.
"I wouldn't have come if I knew we were watching this," Quinn responded. She would rather puke her own guts out than watch anything gruesome or filled with jump scares. Unfortunately for her, it would be a long night full of violence and scares.
Quinn wasn't expecting a sex scene to show up and the moment it did, she immediately became uncomfortable. Thankfully, it passed by quick enough and she was left with more agonizing jump scares. One scene in particular made her grab onto Stanley's hand that was resting on the arm rest.
The movie continued with little touches like that. Sometimes when Quinn stuck her hand inside the bucket of popcorn, Stan's hand would be there too and they would brush up against each other.
Then there were times when Quinn got really scared and hid herself in Stan's shoulder to stop herself from watching the screen. Stanley was more than okay with the times she got scared. He didn't want to seem too forward and comfort her back but he let her continue hiding in his shoulder.
When the movie ended, Quinn bolted out of the theater to finally get air and leaned against the wall, the rest following shortly after.
"S-Scared of a m-movie, Q-Quinn?" Bill teased.
"Not at all. I was just getting a little hot," she lied. The group walked to the front of the theater and Quinn looked out the windows with wide eyes. "Oh, it's dark."
"That a problem?"
"No," Quinn snapped a little too harsh at Richie's taunt. "I think we should head home, Sav."
"About that, mom said I needed to be home at eight and it's already seven fifty-two. Could you walk home?"
"A-Alone? Out there?" Quinn's gaze went from Savannah to the pitch black outside.
"Stan can walk you home," Eddie suggested and nudged his friend. "Right, Stan?"
Stanley's head shot up at the mention of his name. "What?"
"You'll walk Quinn home, right?"
"Uh," Stanley looked at Quinn who seemed nervous about walking home alone. His expression softened. "Yeah, sure."
"Okay, well I had fun guys, but I should go so my mom doesn't rip my head off and feeds it to the dog." Savannah waved goodbye and got in her car and left. Richie, Eddie, and Bill all left together, leaving Stanley and Quinn alone.
"So, did you like the movie?" Stan asked.
"Hell no."
Stanley laughed and Quinn felt her heart beat a little faster when he did. "I take it your not much of a horror fan?"
"I avoid them like the plague." Quinn crossed her arms and continued looking outside, almost as if she was looking for any supernatural creature or serial killer hidden behind street lamps or alleyways.
"Where do you live?"
"The culdesac off Baker Street," Quinn responded. When they started to walk, she noticed her shoe was untied and told him to wait as she bent down and tied it. "Okay, we can-" Quinn gasped and froze when she felt a hand come in contact with her bottom.
Stanley's eyes widened and his head shot to the culprit. It was some teen who didn't go to their school. Luckily, he was Stan's height so when the Jew grabbed hold of the boy's collar and lift him up, he didn't have to move far. While up in the air, Stanley pinched him in the face and threw him on the ground. Some of the people in the same area witnessed it happen and also saw that when the manager came out, Stan grabbed Quinn's hand and ran outside. They didn't stop running until the theater was out of sight.
Quinn was in shock and confusion by what had just happened and who she had froze instead of beat the boy to a pulp then and there. Maybe when you've defended other girls your whole life, it comes as a shock when it actually happens to you. Quinn was extremely lucky to have had Stanley there beside her in her vulnerable moment and snuck a glance in his direction.
His forehead glistened under the lamp's light because of the sweat from running and he stuck his hands into his pant pockets. He looked down and tried to regain his breath. They walked in silence for a few paces until Quinn finally spoke up. "Thank you."
Stanley looked over at her. He wasn't going to push the subject on her so he let her speak first before asking any further questions. "It was nothing. Are you okay?"
Quinn nodded and frowned. "I should've chopped his dick off and made him eat it right there." Stanley raised and eyebrow and Quinn huffed. "All I've done my life is try to protect other girls from men like that but the second it happens to me I freeze? It's pathetic."
"It's not pathetic. It's just different when it comes to protecting yourself. Instead of an offense attack, it's defense. Two different tactics."
"Then I guess I need more practice on defensive strategies."
They walked through the dark with only the light of the street lamps over their heads. From her left, Quinn heard a bush shake quickly and pounced onto Stanley's side, grabbing onto his arm for dear life. He looked down at her and the second she realized there was no danger, she looked at him. It was only for a second before she jumped back to where she was beside him earlier.
"Sorry," she muttered.
"I-It's fine." He looked down at her and bit his lip. "If you weren't just sexually assaulted, I'd ask to kiss you."
Anger rose in Quinn's body until his full sentence registered in her mind and her face softened. "Y-You would?"
"Yeah. You're pretty and confident and when you jump into me it makes me feel more like a man."
Quinn rolled her eyes with a smile. "I guess I wouldn't mind if you asked."
"Really?" Quinn nodded. "So, can I kiss you?" Quinn nodded again and Stanley bent down and placed his lips on top of hers. Even with the limited knowledge about these encounters didn't stop her from kissing back. Her hands made their way up his neck and while one stayed there, the other trailed up into his hair and twirled it around her finger. Stanley placed his hands on her sides and pulled her in closer so that their hips were touching. He was bold enough to run his tongue along her bottom lip, asking for entrance and she was fine with it, letting him in.
Their little kiss had turned into a make-out session in the middle of the sidewalk until a sound from behind Quinn made her break away and dart her head towards it. It was just a bird flying out from the bush but that didn't stop her heart from pounding fifty miles an hour. Stanley's puffy lips turned up into a smile as he grabbed hold of her hand, reassuring her that it was alright.
"Sorry," Quinn apologized and under his gaze, blushed. He was the only one that had ever made her blush and she didn't know how to act.
"It's fine. Come on, we're almost there." They continued to walk, neither one talking about their shared moment just a few steps ago and fell into a silence before Stanley broke it. "You know, as a man, I don't claim him as part of my gender."
Quinn chuckled. "'As a man,' huh?"
Stanley scoffed in shock. "I am eighteen. Legally I am a man. And I look like one, too." He flexed his muscles.
Quinn let her eyes sweep over his body. "Whatever you say, pretty boy."
"Pretty man," Stan corrected with a smile and Quinn just rolled her eyes.

[[ Random Survey Questions // By @x-hallie-x ]] 1. When was the last time you just wanted to be alone? What about the last time you really wanted to be around people? I’m someone who needs alone time. It doesn’t necessarily mean I’m upset or anything, I just like time alone. I like to put my headphones in and listen to ASMR and do some surveys, read, color, or whatever. However, I get in these moody moods most days and I like to be alone and not talk to anyone. I just keep to myself. It’s for the best cause I don’t make good company when I’m like that cause I’m not talkative and if I do talk it’ll be short and clipped. I feel like my negative energy will drain and consume you. I get like that when other people are in moody moods, so I feel bad for those who are around me when I’m in mine, which like I said, is quite often. As for the last time I wanted to be around people, I like to spend a lot of time with my mom. I can be a bit clingy. I don’t like being around people much these days apart from my immediate family.
2. Have you ever gone somewhere in your pajamas? What makes this acceptable or unacceptable to you? Yeah, quite often nowadays. It’s funny to me how I let myself go out the house these days when once upon a time I’d never go out in my pajamas or without makeup. The only time I did that was if I was really sick and going to the doctor. I just don’t have the energy or care enough to put the effort most of the time anymore. Not to mention, I don’t go out much except to the doctor. And to Wal-Mart a couple times a month.
3. Other than the usual things like IDs, etc, what do you always carry with you when you go out? I mean, just my purse with the typical things like my wallet and phone. The only different thing is I always bring my medicine with me.
4. If you were to go on a picnic, what type of setting would you prefer, what types of food would you bring, and would you bring anyone along with you? Picnics sound cute and all, but I’m so not an outdoorsy type of person and whenever I’ve ate outside like for a BBQ or something, there’s always the nuisance of flies and other bugs. It’s not enjoyable to me. How about an indoor picnic? lol.
5. What is one song you feel as though you sing particularly well, if any? Haha I can’t sing, but I do admit that I find it’s easier to sing along to alternative songs by male artists. *shrug*
6. Have you ever kept a mood chart or anything like that? Did it help you pick up any useful patterns in your moods? Nah.
7. What was the last lengthy task you completed? Hmm. I like to color a lot and the coloring book I have has pages that are quite detailed and take some time to finish. I finished one last night.
8. Do you look toward the future or focus more on the here and now? Are you good at being in the moment, or do you always feel drawn to worrying about other things? The future scares me and I just can’t think so far ahead when I have so much going on in the here and now to think and dwell upon. I have to just take it day by day. My mind always feels very scattered and jumbled and like it’s just racing all the time with all the million different thoughts. It’s hard to focus on things.
9. What does it mean to you to have empathy? Do you think you’re an empathetic person? An empathetic person is someone who feels and shares emotions of others. I do think that I’m a empathetic person. I can feel the mood of someone else and I’ll feel that way, too. It’s like I take on what they’re feeling. If someone is in a bad mood and/or there’s tension, I’ll definitely feel it. I hate seeing people hurting and upset.
10. What was the last thing you did that was particularly selfish? What about selfLESS? I feel like I’ve been really selfish these past couple years. I was going to just take a little time to focus on myself and my health, but things took unexpected turns for the worse at times and I’ve spent more time than I planned on. I’ve been so in my own head. I have completely distanced myself and have withdrawn from everyone. I haven’t been able to be a good friend or be there for others like I would like to be, and like I used to be. 11. What is something about your life that is currently beyond your control? Certain health things and such.
12. What is one small thing you could do to change about your life for the better? I could start taking better care of myself and doing things that I need to be doing that would help quite a bit. Simple things like drinking protein shakes and taking my vitamins, for instance.
13. What type of photography do you enjoy looking at? Do you take any photos yourself, and if so, what types of things do you prefer to photograph? I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but I like taking photos of certain things with my phone and I think it takes pretty good photos. I like to take scenic, nature-y type photos. I have a lot of photos of my pup cause she’s so darn cute. (: I enjoy looking at nature and scenic type stuff, as well as aesthetically pleasing photos.
14. Have you ever gone out for the black friday shopping rush? Did you enjoy it, or not so much? Or, what’s the busiest shopping day you’ve ever experienced? Nah, I don’t want to deal with the crazy crowds. There’s way too many people who take it way too seriously and it can really get out of hand. You hear so many stories about people getting hurt. It’s really not worth all that. I do my shopping from the comfort of my own home and it’s great. Many stores online have already started their Black Fridays deals.
15. Do you enjoy reading diaries or stories you wrote from when you were younger, or does it embarrass you? If you’ve kept them, was there a particular reason for hanging on to them so long? Yeah, I look back at my old diaries once in a great while. Most of it is pretty cringe-y. haha. It’s funny to look back on some of the stuff and see what has changed. Some of it is sad. I just find it interesting to read things from middle school and freshman/sophomore me.  I like looking back at surveys I’ve done, too, for the same reason.
16. What would you say was your first true hobby? What about your most recently developed one? Does playing Barbies count cause I was obsessed. As for most recently developed one, I’ve been really into coloring the past couple years in a few adult coloring books that I have. I got the fancy colored pencils and everything.
17. Is there one thing that throws off your mood more than others, whether it be lack of sleep, lack of food, heat // cold, etc? & when was the last time you felt especially cranky? Oh hangry is a real thing. Same if I don’t have my coffee. Being too hot makes me moody, too.
18. What are some ways you deal with stress? Are these healthy or helpful to you? I don’t deal with stress well, if at all sometimes. I try to just distract myself and avoid when possible.
19. What advice, if any, would you give someone else in your situation? I really don’t know, man. I can’t even seem to help myself.
20. In general, are you the type to feel comfortable giving advice? Has anyone ever come to you for advice and you had no idea what to tell them? I used to be the one my friends would come to for advice, and I always wanted to be there and help others whenever I could. Of course there were times when I didn’t know what to say, but I did what I could, even if that was just lending an ear. I used to be a good friend. 21. What is one common area of life in which you feel you have little to no experience (college, children, marriage, etc)? Relationships and having a job. I’ve never had a job, and I really have never had a relationship, either. I’ve had someone who we called each other boyfriend and girlfriend, but it really wasn’t a relationship. I had what I had with Joseph, but that wasn’t a relationship either even though it felt like it in some ways. I think looking back it’s just because that’s all I knew and I wanted it to be real and be something more than it really was. Obviously then I’ve never been married, so I have no experience with that and I don’t plan on that changing. As for children, I don’t have any of my own nor I do ever plan to, but I’ve been around children in my life so I have some experience with that in some way.
22. What kinds of things are you likely to complain about? Being hungry, feeling sick, being hot, my health.
23. Besides money, what is something you would like to have more of in your life? I would like to be passionate about something and just feel fulfilled in life.
24. What types of blogs do you like to follow? If you have a tumblr, how has your blogging style changed over the years, if at all? Well, apart from survey blogs of course, I follow various fandom blogs for like Alexander Skarsgard and other movies/TV stuff I enjoy. I also follow some food/dessert blogs, seasonal (fall and winter) and Halloween and Christmas blogs, and then just ones that post quotes and aesthetically pleasing photos and such.
25. Do you like to put any extra effort into your food in terms of presentation, or do you prefer to just put it on a plate and eat it as it is, no frills? Haha nah. I only make Top Ramen and things I can zap up in the microwave.
26. When was the last time you were mean or rude to someone else? How about the last time someone acted that way toward you? I get snippy in my moody moods. I can get salty as the kids say. I don’t even want to be around me. Whenever someone is like that towards me I’m just like wow, this is how other people feel when they’re around me when I’m in the moods, which I get in a lot. Not a fun thing to be around.
27. What kinds of things are most likely to make you lose your temper? Have you ever done something regrettable or embarrassing while angry? I’m not one to get angry easily, but there are a few times that come to mind where I was shaking mad. If I’m that mad, it was something big. I do get irritable, annoyed, and frustrated easily, but angry really takes a lot.
28. What has stood out about this day in particular? Has this day been an average day in terms of what you usually experience? Nothing really, but it’s only 1:10AM. So far it’s been pretty average, though.
29. How would you describe your current mood? Do you experience a lot of highs and lows or are your moods relatively stable? What is the most your mood has changed in a day? I don’t feel well, I’m tired, and I’m hungry. I’m going to eat when I’m finished with this, though. I talked about my mood a lot already in this survey and how I get in these awful moods just about everyday. Sometimes it’s particularly extra than other days. Sometimes it doesn’t last long, sometimes it lasts all day. I don’t get the highs, just the low-lows and the blahs.
30. Do you remember what it was that got you into taking surveys in the first place, or why you initially decided to stick with them? Where did you originally start out taking surveys? Are there any blogs you recommend (lol, I’m always looking for more surveys!)? I think I saw someone else post them on Myspace and it interested me. I was hooked ever since and I see no sign of stopping yet. @thedarkeststarsurveys @ssurveys @toomanysurveys9 @littlesurvs @suckitsurveys @surveysonfleek @joobean2107 are all great to name a few.

Day 1 continued, and Day 2
I eventually woke Lucy up at 7pm and advised her that we had two options. 1, she could go back to sleep, however we would be unable to pick up the tickets needed for the Final Fantasy Eorzea Cafe as they had to be collected today, and we would lose the reservation. Or option 2, which was go to Lawson, pick up the tickets and food, come back, eat and sleep.
Needless to say we went for option 2. I cannot tell you how much of a faff getting tickets to Eorzea Cafe has been. I tried to pre-book a few weeks ago, but for holding a reservation for more than 3 days, you need to pay upfront with a credit card. Let me tell you now, upon research online and trying it myself, it seems the only card that will work is AMEX as it can’t be linked to a foreign country. Therefore, I had to hope that 3 days before our trip there were spaces left, go through the booking site in Japanese, and then use the Loppi machine at Lawson also in Japanese. I lucked out on a space near the end of our trip, but trying to find out where to pay for the tickets was even more of a faff.
Sure, I know they’re collected at a Loppi machine in Lawsons, but did you know there are multiple types of Lawson combini in Japan? I was about to say 2, but having just googled it to find out why, apparently it’s 4. 4 shops, same name, different focuses and slightly different products. There’s a Lawson 100 (or as the clerk put it, Green Lawson), and then there’s normal Lawson (Pink and Blue Lawson). And no, Google will not tell you which is which (otherwise I really wouldn’t mind, as it didn’t for us) as it just calls all of the combini Lawson. We had so much trouble, that honestly I would check where the Lawsons are in relation to you, and then use street view to determine whether it had a pink and blue striped sign or not.
Once I had found the right type of Lawson, operating the Loppi machine was fairly straightforward as I had read a few walkthroughs beforehand, and seemed to remember most of the instructions.
Essentially, when you make a reservation you receive a QR code by email. On the machine, you want to hit the middle button with ‘Loppi QR’ on it, scan the QR code, and then it will ask you for the phone number used when making the booking.
What you need to remember then is to basically press the orange button (yes/continue), apart from on the screen where you’re asked about Ponta cards (hit the grey button). You then get to inputting your name, which looks confusing with all the buttons and no English language button, but you can input the name in the Roman alphabet by pressing the third button down in the list to the right of the characters. Input the first name, press the second button in the list for a space, enter last name, then hit orange ok buttons to confirm until the machine spits out a receipt at you.
I’d love to say that’s the whole process, but no. Almost there though. Take the receipt to the counter within 30 minutes (you can pay for shopping at the same time too), pay, sign the receipt as prompted, and the Pink and Blue clerk will kindly hand you the tickets.
Gotta love that bureaucracy! I’m sure there are things at home just as convoluted, but honestly if Lucy hadn’t been bugging me about this for weeks and I myself getting into the game in the past month or so, I probably would have stopped somewhere around my card not working online.
If you’d like to know how to make the reservation, my recommendation would be to follow this excellent guide: https://riikorinkoko.wordpress.com/2017/05/15/riikos-eorzea-cafe-reservation-guide-and-how-to-use-s-loppi-machines-at-lawson-ffxiv-final-fantasy-xiv/amp/
Only addition to this would be to open the page in Chrome if possible, so it can be automatically translated.
Back at the hotel, we ate the snacks we’d purchased, called home (or tried to, in any case), before finally heading off to bed.
I woke up again at 9am on our first full day, after setting my alarm. I spent an hour checking things like emails and trying to trace our bags, of which there was currently no news, before I woke Lucy up. Over the next hour or so we got ready as best we could with a mishmash of clothes, no makeup, and no deodorant (as that’s...kind of not a thing here due to Asian genetics?), before heading out the door around 11:15.
On our way along to Kaminarimon Gate and Asakusa shrine and temple we spotted a shop that essentially was a bit like a Superdrug back home, where Lucy managed to find some basic makeup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really enjoyed walking round the shrine and temple; despite the insane amount of people in places the atmosphere was very serene. We both pulled a fortune, and as per usual with me, I get bad luck xD As is traditional, I tied it on the special rack and hopefully that means our bags won’t get even more delayed >.<
Tumblr media
We also both got these wooden sticks you write your name and date of birth on which have a wish, and somehow this is supposed to bring you closer to that wish? Nothing particularly special for this, get wooden stick, write on stick, hand back stick to guy you just brought from, done. I mean, when in Rome, but somehow I feel like I just got conned into paying 200 yen to scribble on a stick.
We both picked up a drink at this point from one of the vending machines as the weather had heated up considerably, and then headed to the incense counter where you can buy incense, light it, and then waft it on yourself before putting it in the big burner so that it can be shared with others wafting the incense onto themselves. Wafting incense is believed to cleanse you.
Tumblr media
After this we wandered round the local shopping streets and found a nice cafe for lunch. Lucy went for a cola and sandwich toastie with pizza filling; I went for a melon soda float, and spaghetti neapolitan. Both of us enjoyed the food; the soda float was the perfect thing after being in the heat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch, we headed out to the Tokyo Skytree for our prebooked tickets. We were also fortunate that prebooking allowed us to jump the long queue for the elevator and zoom right to the 350m deck to enjoy the sights of Tokyo from above. However somewhere along our travels the weather turned overcast, and therefore whilst still a decent view of Tokyo, we were unable to see Fuji-san at this point. As we also had galleria tickets, we then went up again to 450m, which again was very impressive. They also had a a barbie exhibition for some reason up at this level and a little pop up barbie themed shop. A browse around later and we both ended up buying a compact mirror each with a pretty illustration on the front.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the way back down, we went in the main Skytree gift shop where I got a fridge magnet with a stained glass effect for our fridge back home :) At this point, we felt kind of done with crowds and queues, so it was back on the subway to the hotel for us. Unfortunately, our luggage had still not arrived >.< I had received a message earlier in the day advising me that the bags had arrived at the airport, and that they would therefore be passed to the delivery company.
I had to take a break at this point as not long after we got back to the hotel I developed a thumping headache, for which I honestly have to praise past me, who usually forgets everything but her electronics, for packing paracetamol in the hand luggage. I took one of these and lay down for a bit, and by around 7pm this had died down considerably.
At this point I decided to get a drink, so I hit up the 12th floor as the details we were given stated there is a vending machine up there; there very well might be. However, the 12th floor turned out to be the roof, and as it was raining considerably we went down to the ground floor where another one was supposedly located. And there was, only it was outside the back of the hotel, in the street past the parking lot, after going down a flight of stairs 😣 The only upside of this is that I ended up teaching the front desk clerk who helped us the words ‘vending machine’ as he did not know the phrase in English.
At this point we also needed food, so we went back upstairs to grab our coats before making a mad dash across the road to Family Mart. I have to say, combini food in Japan is honestly as amazing as everyone makes out.
Tumblr media
In England you go to the ‘to go’ section of ASDA and maybe get a mayonnaise sandwich with a small bit of ham on soggy bread if you’re lucky. Here, you can go to the corner shop, get a meal made with fresh ingredients, have it heated up for you, and then if you really want you can eat it at the counter provided. Buy a pot noodle and want it now? Use the hot water machine to soak your noodles. Not about that life? Have freshly baked proper pastries, or warm chicken instead.
I would go on, but I’m too busy thinking about the hot royal milk tea I had out of a bottle, which was perfect in the drizzle this evening on the way home, the bacon wrapped onigiri, and caramel pudding parfait I had for dinner. And of course, I brought a few packets of kitkats to take home too whilst I was at it.
The rest of the evening was spent resting, as we needed to be up early the next day for our Mt. Fuji trip.

ASK US A QUESTION LIST
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The box sat in the drawer most of the time awaiting for the time it would come out. It was huge decision that in his opinion was more heavier than asking someone not in her career. He lost count of how long the box was there but he knew it would be empty soon. He loved her, that’s for sure but it’s a huge commitment to ask someone who’s life is always at risk. She would find it if it was in their apartment so he kept it in his trailer in Canada. He held it in his hand playing with the box.
“Hey Jensen! They need you!” Jared exclaimed opening the door to his trailer. Jensen shoved the box back into the back of the drawer as a shocked Jared stood there, “Is that what I think it was?”
“Pfft no.” Jensen waved the question off, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh? Well that diamond must be something.” Jared raised one eyebrow. He crossed his arms leaning against the wall beside the open door. The cool breeze came into the trailer.
“Shut up.” Jensen muttered, “I haven’t asked your dad for his blessing.”
“Wow. You do know he’s been nervously waiting for when you’ll propose?” Jared asked, “My parents love you J. I swear they love you more than they love me!”
“Not possible.” Jensen mumbled picking at a loose thread on his character’s plaid shirt.
“I’m serious. You’re the first of my sister’s boyfriends that gained the entire trust of my family.” Jared sighed, “Since she first got news of deployment her boyfriend dumped her fast. They were dating for six months I think and he wouldn’t accept that she was more willingly to get her hands dirty than him.”
“I never knew that.”
“They weren’t serious.” Jared shrugged, “She tended to forget about him anyway. She couldn’t find a time to break up with him.”
“Oh.” Jensen nodded his head, “Should I video call your dad?”
“Yeah. After we kick some ass.” Jared teased leaving the trailer, “It’s going to be a fun episode to shoot!”
Jensen wiped his hands on his pants as he looked at the picture where he was kneeling in front of you. You two had taken a weekend getaway to the mountains so he could propose on the mountain with a physical metaphor. The picture was by their hike leader on the small mountain.
                                                         〰️〰️〰️
The wind was crisp on your cheeks as you followed the guide on the small trail, Jensen had his one hand in his pocket while his other held yours. It was cold but it was also warm with the sun out, it hit the snow making it seems like millions of small diamonds were buried there. You were looking around the mountain you had spent the entire morning climbing.
“This is gorgeous!” You breathed taking in the beautiful view.
“Yeah.” Jensen replied as you all came to a stop in front of the view.
The guide smile before stepping aside with Jensen’s camera he had snuck to him. You were confused on why you had stopped before your eyes met nervous green ones. Your eyes grew wide as your boyfriend dropped down to his knee.
“Y/N. I grew up with a dream of having a gorgeous, kind and loving woman I could call my wife. One I could call the mother of all my future children and the one I would spend the rest of my life with. I never gave it much thought on what she would do for a living or how she would look. All I knew is that she would be the most beautiful woman I would ever see. That dream took a backseat as my job grew more important.” Jensen said staring up at you.
“Oh my god.” You whispered shocked.
“I’ll admit when you told you were a soldier I was scared because it that moment I fell for you. It was that moment I knew you would change entire view on life. All the times you were gone I would bug the hell out of your family because they understood how it felt with you gone. Each letter sent and received elevated the love I feel for you. I could go on for years but I have somethings to take precedent over. Firstly my love for you is more profound than this view, more tall than this mountain, and more than strong enough to move this mountain if that’s what you wanted. You believe this view is gorgeous but it pales in comparison to you in the smallest way.”
The box opened to reveal a ring that easily caused tears to flood Y/N because it was the ring she had stumbled upon when they were looking at watches. Jensen had dropped his watch in the tub and it wasn’t able to work again.
“I promise to send you a letter each day you’re away from me. I promise to support you in every way I can and I promise to hold onto our love as tight as you hold onto my heart. Will you please marry me?”
“Oh sweet fuck.” You exhaled, “Yes.”
The click of the camera was loud as it captured the moment where all your love poured out of you.
                                                        〰️〰️〰️
You stared utterly betrayed at the person obviously in charge of her capture. The golden kind smile of Charlotte was now twisted and malevolent with no mercy. Her hair was pulled up in a high ponytail without a hair out of place.
“Surprise!” Charlotte grinned tilting her head to the side, “Isn’t this a wonderful surprise? I’ve been wanting to do this for ages! It was torture waiting until you were desperate for some light in the darkness.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t lie. My father sold me to a bunch of horrible people, I escaped with some help, and started my own little group.” Charlotte said picking her nails with a knife, “You should see that place! It’s a nice red colour but it’s more artistic and abstract with the pattern of splatters.”
“You’re insane!” You hissed raising your arms.
“Says you?” Charlotte chortled, “Who the hell trusts someone? Did you not see the hesitation in their movement at tossing me inside? Are you a soldier? You’re supposed to be preceptive aren’t you?”
“Sorry that halo was to bright to see the horns.” You snapped, “I bet you only have this because daddy didn’t get you the barbie you wanted.”
“More like he didn’t get me the right knife to carve up the bitch that gave me life.”
“Why the hell do you have me?” You screamed.
“I was younger I watched this soap opera.” Charlotte trailed off licking her lips, “There was this one character that was the reason I lived. Jensen Ackles. You stole him and I wanted him!”
You groaned shaking your head because of how insane she was.
“Imagine my surprise when I heard that a female soldier with the last name Ackles was near that town. I knew I had to have you.”
“Wow so original. Are you really blonde or did you follow the stereotypical physical appearance of a psycho bitch!” You exclaimed eyeing a gun in one the men’s hands, “Let me tell you how many other psychos with dark hair have come after me?”
“How many were psycho enough to kidnap a soldier of the US Army?”
                                                        〰️〰️〰️
Jensen had never gotten up so fast when the phone rang especially when it was Sgt. Michaels. He dropped to his knees as the grand amount of relief was too intense to stay up standing.
“We’ve found her.”
The entire room was filled with anticipation as tears flooded the man on the phone. Jared knew in his bones that his sister had been found and would be coming home soon enough. The relief was palpable and so profound it was hard to wrap her minds around it.
“I’m risking a lot by calling but the unit is now taking down the compound she was located at. The rest is top secret but I’ll keep you informed with what I can.”
“T-thank you.” Jensen sobbed feeling many arms wrap around him.                                                         〰️〰️〰️
The unit was stealthily moving through the property getting closer to the heart of the property where they knew the missing soldier would be. Using hand signals two soldiers swiftly strategically placed a quiet bullet in their heads. There was strict orders to take all enemies out and leave none alive.
The bodies were discarded in an empty building before they intentionally set off a bomb in the corner where many soldiers waited. Each hiding out in anticipation.
“Go check that out.” A female voice ordered. Three men came out of the building holding large guns and knives in multiple areas of their combat uniform.
Within seconds the men were placed in the same building as the other deceased enemies. The heat signature devise showed a woman of Y/N’s stature was inside leaning to her right as if something was hurting her.
Inside the building you threw your arm at the man next to before swiftly tugging the man in front of you as a knife was thrown. The knife embedded itself in the man’s should before bullets were buried inside the man. Using him as a human shield you acquired his gun before putting a round in the man beside Charlotte.
The click of the empty gun was heard before a swift kick sent a kick to Charlotte’s hand. The cracking of bones were heard as Charlotte winced. Strategically she pulled a gun sending a couple rounds into the already injured soldier.
“Ow! Fuck!” You hissed as the last bullet entered your body. It didn’t stop you from fighting to the death literally.
It didn’t deter you from gripping one of the remaining soldiers in the room by the neck and throwing him. Swiping his knife you were slashing your way to the girl stepping over the bodies laying on the ground.
“Why don’t we talk about this?” Charlotte asked backing away before you kicked out catching a man and yanking his head to the side. His dead body dropped on the ground with a sickening crunch.
“No.” You glared, “I am not talking about shit with you anymore, you’ve help me captive because of SOME STUPID CRUSH ON MY HUSBAND!”
Charlotte glared before steeling herself as you stalked up to the girl. You cracked your neck before the gun was pressed into your stomach. Charlotte smirked as she pushed the gun further into your stomach.
“Love.” She whispered into your ear, “I don’t crush like a pre-teen. I love like a real woman.”
“Yeah?” You questioned before kicking the front of her knee. Charlotte collapsed to one knee before you shoved the knife deep into her shoulder earning a loud scream, “Well that’s lovely to know.”
“I’m going to rip you apart. I’ll make you wish you were never born!”
“No, you have that wrong, I’m going to place every wound you all placed on me and more.” You hissed, “By the time I’m done with you, you’ll barely remember anything including me.”
“Well it’s a damn shame we can’t come to an agreement on who’s going to lose.” Charlotte hissed back before shoving her own knife into your thigh and pushing you back. It was a mess of limbs as the gun was fought over.
The unit was just at the door when the band resonated throughout the area and the gasp went into the air. The rest of the men fell into line when everyone regrouped at the last building. Bodies were discarded in hidden areas as everyone went into position.
The leader kicked the door in calling out.
“Drop your weapons! I repeat drop the weapons and get on the ground.”
There was no one holding a weapon nor was there anyone standing. The occupants of the room were laying still on the ground in a large pool of blood that was growing at the second.
“Shit.”
Tumblr media
                                                        〰️〰️〰️
The Padalecki and Ackles family were in the government building kept in a room while they waited for more news. Thy noticed Sgt. Michaels accept a call before the soldier went ridged.
“Are you sure? Injuries?” The man didn’t let a hint of emotion on his face as the conversation went deeper, “Dear god.”
Jensen’s heart dropped when the stoic man’s expression broke revealing a deeply disturbed and sick man. The pale parlour of the military man gave way to what was going to be some bad news and Jared’s strength was wavering.
“How long?”
There was a pause before the man solemnly nodded and turned his attention to the other people in the room.
“We have some news.”
“Well?” Jared exclaimed slamming his hands down on the table.
“The unit successfully took down all enemies but there was a fight inside leaning the unit to find three seriously injured people.” Sgt Michaels explained, “One we’ve announced to be the leader is a female along with an enemy soldier and Y/N.”
“Where is she? How is she?” Jensen exclaimed getting into the man’s face, “Where is my wife?”
“Currently in a combat hospital that was closest to the area.” The man stated, “Unfortunately it’s a classified location and you all are not authorized to even know.”
“I want to see my wife.” Jensen hissed.
“You have done enough.” Gen glared leaning closer to the man, “I’m sick and tired of this, if we aren’t authorized to know about the location then why the hell were we told about this entire mission?”
Sgt. Michaels shifted under the gaze of the woman before meeting her gaze holding back the answer. He had already put his papers in for retirement before he could get into more hot water with the army.
“I did this because that woman saved countless lives including mine.” Sgt. Michaels squeezed his eyes closed, “I met my wife when we attended a dance to get the soldiers minds off our duty. I never met someone like her in my life and I chased her for months before she gave in. We were married a year later. We had trouble conceiving and when we finally did she was kidnapped.”
Nobody broke the silence.
“Jennifer had resigned from the army when she found out she was pregnant but the day she was to return, one of the enemies had taken her.” Sgt. Michaels shook, “Jennifer was found a month later with her eyes gouged out and with little untouched skin on her body. Her stomach was opened with her womb removed.”
“Jesus.” Jensen groaned hearing the story.
“When I got back from confirming it was her. I was in my tent drunk and holding my gun in my mouth. I was about to pull the trigger than Y/N wandered into the tent asking on how to retire early.” Sgt. Michaels shook enough more as his body threatened to fall, “She stopped me in her unique way and promised to not tell anyone so I keep my job. I made a deal that when I found her I could retire.”

In homage to this season where we honor parents through mother’s and father’s day, I wanted to highlight successful artists with families. There is this widely accepted perception that artists (especially women artists) can’t be successful if they start families. The stereotype of the the lone artist dedicated to their craft, eschewing any and all serious relationships lest it distract them from their ultimate purpose of creation still reigns supreme. Acclaimed feminist artist Marina Abramovic has repeatedly spoken in interviews about how having children holds artists back and is a disaster especially for women’s careers. However, isn’t viewing parenting, a role that is traditionally considered feminine, as less then an inherently sexist view? Disclaimer, this is all coming from someone who actually doesn’t want kids! However, it boggles my mind that being an involved parent is often looked at in society as “doing nothing” or underachieving one’s potential. I never thought about it much when I was a kid or teen myself, but how much of a full time job parenting truly is has really hit home for me as friends of mine are beginning to have children, and I see and hear firsthand about their experiences. Even with pretty awesome, well behaved kids, parenting is a 24 hour job. After 18-20 years, the hours may be cut back a little but really it doesn’t end there, it’s a lifetime commitment, and a vocation that is far from “nothing”.
Abramovic made headlines and sparked heated debate when she told German newspaper Der TAgesspiegel: “In my opionon, having children is the reason why women aren’t as successful as men in the art world. There are plenty of talented women. Why do men take over the important positions? It’s simple. Love, family children – a woman doesn’t want to sacrifice all of that”. The following amazing artists and designers with kids prove that you don’t have to.
Mark Ryden,  forerunner of the pop surrealism movement, used his daughter as the model for this famous (or to some infamous) piece, Rosie’s Tea Party. The painting ended up in the middle of some controversy over the inclusion of Catholic symbols embedded in the piece. Asked amidst the uproar whether he felt people were imposing their own interpretations on his work, Ryden responded, “There are many symbolic meanings in my art that I myself am not necessarily conscious of. The most powerful meanings in art come from another source outside an artist’s own literal consciousness. To me, tapping into this world is the key to the making the most interesting art. Some people find my refusal to explain everything in my work deeply dissatisfying. They can’t stand mystery. They need to literalize it all and tie it up in a neat little package”. As someone who has had people misinterpret the intent of some of my work based on their own bias and subsequently fly off the handle over it, I can empathize. Wrongfully interpreted or not, I am also very against censorship in general and feel people need to be able to handle being confronted with things they don’t always agree with. Ryden’s wife Marion Peck is a successful working artist as well.
Jason Lee, a wedding photographer working in San Francisco, started this project in 2006 when his mother became ill. Because of the need to be careful about germs, her granddaughters’ visiting was restricted. Lee started a blog with these whimsical photos because he wanted his mother to still feel connected to what was going on in the girls’ lives, and he also wished to give her something that would cheer her up and make her laugh. Lee collaborated with his elementary aged daughters to come up with a host of ideas for surreal, comical photoshoots to share with their grandmother. More of the creative and adorable results can be seen here.
Remy Coutarel is an illustrator from France, now residing in Seattle. He sites his young twin boys as a constant source of inspiration for his work, especially with his children’s book illustrations. His cheerful and imaginative illustrations span a variety of styles and subject matter, all with a recognizable sense of movement and unique character creation.
Children’s clothing line Princess Awesome got its beginning on kickstarter, the collaboration of two moms and good friends, elementary educator Rebecca Melsky and stay-at-home mom, part-time web developer, and seamstress Eva St. Clair. Melsky had a daughter who loved cars and dinosaurs, but would only wear skirts or dresses. Of course, there were no patterns of cars, trains, or prehistoric beasts to be found anywhere except the boys’ section. The two moms saw a gap in the clothing market, and decided to fill it. They started bringing their designs to craft bazaars, not sure whether other parents would like their designs that featured fabric patterns far different from what could be found in the typical girls’ section in department stores. The clothes sold out immediately, and they started getting orders. St. Clair also home schools her 4 children (She’s basically a superhero), and the two knew there was no way they’d be able to keep up with one person sewing out of their home, which is when they turned to kickstarter to fund their business. The rest is history. I love this company. As I think of myself as a child, one who was also not a fan of wearing pants and liked playing with dinosaur figures and matchbox cars and collecting  bugs and rocks just as much as playing with Barbies, I know I would have adored these clothes. Most clothing companies that pop up as an alternative to the typical “girls section” fare tend to veer entirely in the opposite direction of no pink, and no dresses, so that the girls in the middle who may love  stereotypical “boy” things and stereotypical “girly” things end up left out. The company even makes scarves for adults featuring the fun fabrics covering their kids clothing. I need that dinosaur scarf ASAP.

Independence day clothing is another line of designs created by a mom that saw a need that wasn’t being filled, and rose to the challenge. ABC news interviewed designer Lauren Theirry in 2015, shining a spotlight on the new company that aims to provide accessible and fashionable clothing to the autistic community. Theirry was a financial news anchor for over a decade before she decided to make the change to becoming an advocate for autism full time. Theirry had no fashion design experience when she started, but she had been helping her son with autism get dressed for 17 years and knew what others like him needed in a piece of clothing. Because people with autism often have issues with fine motor skills and can also have heightened senses, zippers and buttons or rougher fabrics can be extremely vexing and uncomfortable for them. Theirry decided that people with autism, “… deserve better than T-shirts and baggy sweatpants.” She designed a line of clothing in soft fabrics that feature no zippers, buttons, or laces that men and women with autism could easily take on and off themselves. All designs are also completely reversible with no defined front or back side, and are not designed to be gender specific, so that everyone can feel confident and comfortable while wearing them.
The Huffington Post interviewed this last fashion entrepreneur, who is not just a designer mother but a designer grandmother. Karen Bowersox already had business experience from running her husband’s medical practice, but the decision to dive headfirst into the clothing business at 65 was inspired by her granddaughter with down syndrome, Maggie. Finding clothing that fit Maggie’s proportions properly was always a struggle for Karen’s daughter, especially with jeans or pants. Maggie’s family was not alone in this. Having no prior fashion experience, Bowersox reached out to designer Jillian Jankovsky in order to start her own company tailored specifically to children and adults with down syndrome, then called Downs Designs. Bowersox’s company was rebranded in 2016 to NBZ Apparel International after it expanded to provide jeans and slacks not only for people with down syndrome but individuals with other varying disabilities as well, including styles with no buttons or zippers for those struggling with fine motor skills. Bowersox wants people who look at her granddaughter and all individuals with disabilities to see the person first, not the disability first. She believes having clothing that individuals with disabilities can feel comfortable and confident in and that fits correctly is the first step. In the interview with Huffington Post, Bowersox said, “I can’t believe I’m changing the world, all with a pair of jeans“.
These artists, illustrators, and designers are successful because of  their family, not despite them, and their children have inspired them to generate ideas they would not have come up with otherwise. Don’t let others define what limits your potential based on their own fears and prejudices, and to all the parents out there, thank you!
