#this happened like. i dont know. a month ago or something but i still keep playing it in my mind#for those unawares: theres been a fucking community outrage over the pride display at the library i work at#and have been working/volunteering at for 5 years#only it never went up. it never went up. bc the mayor came in as a quote unquote private citizen and demanded it taken down#despite the fact that patrons are required to fill out complaint sheets and even then it isnt ensured a display will be taken down#so obviously its a misuse of power that hes spinning into him being a concerned citizen#and i made a whole post bitching abt it and im doing so again (hi) bc i didnt like how our director responded to it#and yeah. so there was a board meeting after that right. well i set up for them as i usually do and let me tell you. that was the first#--time more than like 6 people came to spectate. it was insane.#and i guarantee that this months meeting wont have half as many people that fucking crammed themselves in there to complain abt gay ppl#bc of course they dont give a shit about the library#they just care about how scary the queers are#and yeah it was a shit show. i learned we have a far right organization in our town#and i was sat right in front of her husband the whole time#(standing actually. i was standing between him and my moms chair and he was sighing and grumbling the whole time bc he couldnt muster the#--balls to ask the 5 foot 2 fag in front of him to please move lol. small victories right)#when i say her i mean the leader of the freaks. idk. chairman? anyway she had a whole speech about how like queers are bad and cutting#the penises off little babies or whatever and she pulled up this passage from a book that was part of the display#its some book by the youtuber rowan ellis-- here and queer i think was the title. it was cataloged in our ya section and contained passages#talking about like having safe sex and what dildoes are and all that kind of shit. just really clinical descriptions imo. im not familiar w#--the youtuber really but im assuming they wrote it as informational bc shocker: teens be having sex. unsafe sex. especially queer teens#sourse: i was one of tgose#and...think for a moment. remember when you were a teen. youd rather fucking DIE than listen to your parents give you the sex talk#and chances are if youre gay your parents arent even going to know WHAT gay sex is (hugging without shirts on) so youre going to look#--elsewhere#bc if youre a hormonal fucking teen youre going to figure it out one way or another! especially if youre from (cough) a podunk shitwater#--town like mine that ran on abstinence by way of sex education#i think teens deserve to have access to that sort of information through trusted means. and i do mean het teens too#but no these fucking morons put on airs like everyones waiting till marriage--no! not my becky sue! as if they werent fucking around in#--holy shit i reached taglimit. i didnt ecen know there was one. hold on

thinking about the fact that i was so socially awkward as a teen that the school wanted to me out of class to attend "social skills classes" once a week (to which i attended one and demanded i be removed from the program cuz it was just me and about a dozen equally uncomfortable probably-autistic kids who also probably did not want to be there, being forced to do icebreaker activities by deeply condescending special education teachers)
how did i not receive an autism diagnosis til i was nearly an adult and specifically advocated for myself to be taken to a professional to get checked out for autism and adhd???

But. Yes. Yeah. Yokoyama's absolute certainty in saying that??? Without anything to even buffer it? No maybe. No "don't expect too much." Just point-blank in front of a huge fan (whom I believe he's now going to be working with), a staff member, and a massive audience. As if that part isn't the matter of contention. I WILL be injecting those words directly into my veins for some time.
I was on the verge of choking and/or spewing blood and/or crying before posting it though lol, so I really appreciate the vote of confidence regarding the translation and I love your redraw! The reception as a whole has been really nice, although I wish people would keep it to themselves if they'd rather have Nishiki or Ryuji back or whatever. Not like it's a race, but even if it was, Mine's been in last place for ages lol.
And while I enjoy Y3's writing more than most, Mine's death wasn't some Grand Meaningful Statement, it was the decision of a fledgling studio that never knew if it would be able to keep making these games trying to tell a self-contained story. It did have far-reaching consequences for the series, but those consequences are also... not really relevant anymore?
Like, I can and have argued that Mine's death caused the fall of the Tojo Clan, but the clan has already fallen. So I don't see why some people are acting like revisiting his character would be A Spit In The Face to the saga somehow, but I guess I've never really been against characters being brought back...? A quote from the staff that's always stuck with me from the staff is that RGG is always going for RGG-ism, not realism.
Ranting aside... I honestly don't know if I should be saying this, but there's this new guy working the counter at Survive in some LaD8 behind the scenes footage. Now, upfront, I'm 99.8% sure it's not Mine (I happen to have a 100% accuracy rate so far identifying major RGG characters from extremely blurry images and silhouettes lmao), and I have no idea who it is, whether it's a new character or an old one heavily redesigned or Just Some Guy.
But he's not Kashiwagi. And he happens to have slicked-back dark brown hair with what appears to be an ahoge in some angles. And, unless the materials are temporary, he also dresses A Lot Like the celebrity Mine's design was based on. And his features... line up closely enough to piss me off, even though they don't fully match in the end, which is why I don't think it's him.
I'm in argumentative essay mode 100% of the time which is why I'm saying this in a "convincing" tone despite literally not believing it myself, but like... wouldn't that be something? To just have Mine part-timing at Survive or whatever and no one makes a big deal of it because they don't know any better? If nothing else, I really do think he should get The Bartender Treatment.
I dunno, I might post about it with a comparison tomorrow because it's been on my mind lately, especially with The News, but I really don't want people to get the wrong idea either. Or embarrass myself if it was too tenuous of a link to look that deeply into from the start lol

If Yokoyama had any remaining hesitance about Mine being alive, then he REALLY would have fumbled by sounding so certain. Like in his old tweet, he certainly sounded more ambiguous, but this time he really had no extra notes and sounded more sure of himself. I won't expect RGG to do anything with Mine, but the concept is still very much exciting and the idea that Yokoyama almost seems earnest about the idea of bringing Mine back for whatever reason is very nice to know :] And thank you about enjoying the art I did! I can't lie in the slightest, since the last ask where you alluded to posting the clip, I had that drawing saved in the back of my head ready to make once you had that posted LMAO
But oohh not to touch drama since I generally try to Not touch it, but yeah I can't act like I haven't seen some people be. ""Interesting"" about the idea of Mine being alive. I won't dive too deep into it, but I think my major issue with the few grievances I've seen is that RGG hasn't done anything with Mine's alive status. As of right now, it's just a thing Yokoyama said, so I don't understand the need to be so angry about it (it's especially weird to say Ryuji hasn't been back when he not only got to be a playable protagonist in Dead Souls, but he was also the protagonist of RGGO- though I suppose I can understand wanting him in the mainline series again. Still, it's weird to act as though Mine's back any more than he is and being upset about it just because Yokoyama said he was alive)...
Moving on though, I'm really curious as to this 'mystery figure' you mean. I've been missing out on LaD8 production material, so I haven't seen this bit myself but I'd love to take a stab at it and analyze myself too. “whats wrong y/n?” topper asks, placing a cautious hand on your shoulder as you are sat slumped down on the passenger side of the golf cart, a frown cemented onto your face.
“i don’t wanna be here.” you complain. you usually don't mind golfing with rafe. he drives you around and you get to watch and spend time with him, but when you agreed this morning to go, you didn’t realize that the day would turn dreary, sky a light gray with rain clouds threatening to spill at any second.
“baby, we will play a short game and then i’ll take you home.” rafe says, sliding into the driver side.
topper hops in the back before rafe takes off, trying to tune out your conversation, not wanting to be part of whatever argument is going on.
“i wanna go home now.” you whine.
“don't be bratty, come here.” rafe holds his arm out, and you duck under it to press yourself into his side, burying your face in his shoulder as he navigates the cart with one hand. you are happy and warm against him, but too quickly rafe arrives to the first hole and gets out of the cart.
you cross your arms as you watch him, not cheering like you usually do.
“honey, if you keep frowning like that you are gonna give yourself a headache.” rafe says after topper takes his shot.
“i already have a headache.” you say. its only starting to develop, but you can feel the headache taking over. “and it's from you forcing me out here.”
rafe sighs, driving to toppers ball. once he’s off the cart and lining up his shot, rafe pulls you closer, pressing a kiss to your cheek. “i love you babygirl.”
“whatever.” you roll your eyes, but can’t resist rafe, even when you’re upset at him. “i love you too.”
“you gonna be good for the rest of the holes, yeah?” rafe asks.
“can i sit on your lap and drive?”
rafe sighs, but nods, willing to agree to anything to make you happy while he finishes the game.
you are satisfied with being able to steer the cart around while rafe has his arms wrapped around your center, but when it starts to drizzle, your attitude is officially back.
“this is miserable.” you whine.
“two more holes and then we are done. do you want me to make you a hot chocolate when we get home?” rafe asks, leaning in to you as he watches topper take his first swing of the hole.
“yeah, with whipped cream though.”
“and marshmallows.” rafe knows exactly how you like it, giving you a kiss on the cheek before going to take his swing. he curses when a sudden gust of wind blows his ball astray towards a patch of trees.
“thank you mother nature.” you call out, making rafe glare at you.
“its like you want me to do bad.” he rolls his eyes, still pulling you onto his knee to let you steer him to his ball, topper hopping onto the back just in time for you to take off, wishing he would have told rafe he had plans instead of having to sit awkwardly through your fighting.
“i do want you to do bad, then maybe you will stop playing this stupid game.” you don’t really mean your words, and rafe knows that too, the weather has just got you pissy, and once he gets you home and warmed up, you will coyly apologize and give him lots of kisses to make up for it.
you slide off rafes lap as he gets out to hit his ball. you rest your chin against your fist, watching disinterestedly as he swings, his arms stretching back before hitting the ball forward, sending it right into a tree trunk he meant to miss, causing the ball to come right towards you.
“ow!” you let out a shriek when the ball hits you in the head, right in your hairline.
“fuck, baby!” rafe shouts, running quickly back over to the cart where you are holding your head, tears already pouring down your cheeks. “are you okay?”
“it hurts!” you whine, blinking as tears continue to fall.
“im so sorry.” rafe pulls you onto his lap, this time facing him so that your chest is pressed up against his. “im so fucking sorry, baby.”
you sob into rafes shirt, keeping your hand pressed to your head as you cry, rafe attempting to soothe you by rubbing your back, but when he sees its no use, he shuffles you so he can drive to golf cart with your curled up into him.
rafe doesn’t even acknowledge topper, but he’s glad to silently slip away as rafe quickly carries you inside the country club.
“mr. cameron! what’s wrong?” one of the staff asks.
“can you get me a bag of ice? golfing incident.” rafe explains, and you try to quiet your cries, not wanting to embarrass yourself anymore than you already have, but it really does hurt as your forehead throbs. “we will be in the private dining room.”
rafe carries you further into the club while the employee gets you something for your head. you enter a room you have never been in before, with a grand table set up in the center, but rafe moves to the side of the room, sitting down on the sofa facing the window.
“here you go, sir.” the worker hands rafe a bag of ice as well as a towel. “can i get you anything else?”
rafe whispers something to the staff member that you can’t make out over your sniffling. he nods and then leaves with the door swinging shut behind him, just you and rafe in the room.
“sit back baby, let me see.” rafe says, and you manage to straighten out your back. you bring your hand away from your head, placing it on rafes chest to help balance yourself instead.
“is it bad?” you question.
“no, its not too bad. just a little red. might have a bump.” rafes eyes are soft and sad as he looks over you. he gets the ice wrapped in the towel before pressing it to your head. you instantly sigh at the relief. “i really am sorry.”
“its okay, you didn't do it on purpose.” you say. “you’re not that good at golf.”
“hey.” rafe complains, but he smiles, glad that you’re feeling well enough to make jokes.

“okay, you’re right.” rafe concedes, glancing over your shoulder out the window as the skies open up, rain now pouring down. “it is miserable out.”
you are about to respond when the same staff member walks in. you smile at him kindly before burying your head in rafes shoulder, too embarrassed to make eye contact, but you can hear him place something down on the table next to the couch.
“thank you.” rafe says, reaching under your thighs to his pocket, pulling out his wallet and tipping the man.
“thank you, mr. cameron.”
once he is gone you look up, seeing that rafe had requested a hot chocolate to be brought. “oh, rafey.” you smile, before realizing that they also brought a blanket to cover up with.
“here.” rafe shuffles you around so you can rest your ice pack against his shoulder, then your head against it that way your hands could be free to drink the hot chocolate. he drapes the blanket over both of your knees as you snuggle into his side again.
“maybe the country club isn’t so bad afterall.” you chime as you sip the warm liquid, looking out onto the beautiful sprawling green golf course as raindrops fall from the sky.
rafe smiles at you, placing his hand on your thigh underneath the blanket. “i’m glad you think so baby.”

About An Official Spiderverse Artist...
Please do not just scroll past this post; read it.
If you guys follow me on twitter, you probably already know.
But if you dont or still want to read this anyway - here you go:
I aint big, but I got a growing platform that I see as important for me to use as a force for things that matter.
So here I am.
And I got something to say about a certain "artist".
There are so many fucked up people who call themselves artists who are so heavily worshipped by us who both get and or dont get outed in the world for things they do and for their general piss-poor behaviours and persons.
Im here to talk about one in particular (and certainly wont be the last).
There is an artist that basically EVERYONE here has seen art from before, printed in the official Sony artbooks too.
If you have seen this:
Then you have seen this artist before.
His name is Alberto Mielgo. He goes by @/pinkman_himself on twitter.
He is a HUGE part of the art direction and stylisation of the spiderverse movies, if that isnt already obvious.
Because he was the former original art director of Into The Spiderverse.
Yes. Former.
Cuz he got "mYsTeRiOuSlY fiReD" from Sony 2 years into pre-production and completely removed from the project.
You may have also seen this character before:
Yes. THAT asian character from Netflix's Love Death + Robots, from the episode "The Witness".
Familiar?
Yeah.
Because this episode was also made by the same guy, Mielgo.
I aint going to talk about what happens in that episode and hesitate to encourage anyone to watch it - cuz all it basically is is a megalo-misogynistic, assault "glorified for the sake of aRtT", racially fetishised showcase of this crazy makeup/haired bdsm stereotyped asian girl sex worker who essentially gets murdered over and over and over after running for her life completely naked through the city for all of us to see for some fucking reason.
BUt yeah anyways, you can see it in the first pic, but Ill put it here to show more clearly - this here is NOT the character from LDR.
But I can understand why you might think so:

His fucking PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO is all of painting and drawing women in very compromising, questionable ways of the VERY SAME WOMEN HE HAD SLEPT WITH THROUGH HIS LIFE.
They look as creepy as they are.
But the scariest part?
While I myself had only just found out about this some days ago as of writing this, some of us have known about this man and his antics for years.
And he keeps getting greenlit by the industry, over and over and over; winning awards, getting respected, praised, admired, even by fellow at-home artists like many of you out there if you dont already do so.
And nothing will happen to him cuz he is a white cishet male artist who has money and a following and connections and influence and power.
So yeah.
I just wanted to talk about a certain official Spiderverse artist to just let yall know there are freaks everywhere, and that no matter how small it is, it's people like me and you who need to do what we can to keep up awareness and warn our communities and protect our most vulnerable.
My suggestion is to take heed of what I said, ask questions about everything you will ever see again from anyone around you, no less the industry, THINK for once, and actually give a fuck.
Keep away.
Do not support this man.
But the decision is ultimately yours.
