#but can apply to pretty much all of klaus’ relationships

The reason I love Klaus being possessive is that he’s never saying things like “why are you attempting to attract someone else’s attention” but rather is all “how dare he look at someone who’s mine?”
It’s still toxic as fuck, cause he is objectifying his partner (as is seen with Cami in s1) but it’s the reason his possessiveness is tolerable (personally hot if also a bit disturbing). He’s also capable of changing, as we see again with Cami in s3, to an extent. Still possessive but less paranoid/murderous.

Here’s Part 2 of some ideas I’m doodled for my Winx rewrite
Last post seemed to do better than I expected and I’m glad a few people enjoyed it. So here are some more things I want to work with.
Tumblr media
I like Artu and Roxy’s relationship but I would have also liked some backstory on them and more depth. Like Gantlos said “it’s just a dog”. How did Roxy get Artu? Is he adopted or bought? Is there a reason he doesn’t like anyone outside of Roxy and Klaus?
In my rewrite, yes. Abandoned as a puppy, a kid Roxy took him in after her mother left her dad unexpectedly. She basically raised Artu and he means a lot to her, but she never socialised him since she herself isn’t social with people (so while Artu may tolerate someone’s prescence he doesn’t like being touched or seen upclose). Roxy raising Artu is also why she gets pissed and earns her fairy form but doesn’t want the fairy gig since it ended up hurting her dog, because as a fairy the wizards are after her and Gantlos hurt Artu.
Speaking of Gantlos
Tumblr media
Gantlos my beloved you’re so fucking bland the only personality trait you have is having fucked up pointy hands and a cool hat <3
Ok in all honestly I like his apathy to animals and the Winx in general, but that also applies to the other wizards to some extent. At least you can say something about the other wizards; Orgon’s voice is top tier, Duman has really cool powers and design, Anagan’s banter with Flora’s entertaining. This one’s technically a headcannon I made cannon in the rewrite. I did my research btw.
Gantlos has a pretty intense fear of deers also called Elafiphobia, even asking Duman to not shapeshift into one. It’s pretty bad, seeing a deer gets him pretty close to a panic attack. I’m not going to spoil why but I’ll say it’s a consequence of the Great Fairy Hunt. In fact all the Wizards despite being the cause have been affected by the fairy hunt, either overall or because of a major event. Gantlos’ deer phobia is also why he doesn’t like/care about animals initially, I mean, why should he like them? Just cause they’re cute? Hah!
Tumblr media
Apart from Riven and Musa I hate the melodrama in season 4 it’s so shit. Since in my version Sky isn’t in the story cause king stuff, Mitzi is narratively cremated and Nabu doesn’t die, on top of planning to expand on Anagan and Flora’s relationship as rivals and Anagan “flirting” with her, it’d be weird for Helia to be like “eh”. Like even if Flora can hold her own I think he’d at least be a little concerned and annoyed at Anagan.
So yeah, Helia’s conflict is having a case of Impostor syndrome because Anagan’s a foil to him; confident, extroverted, confrontational, and actually bounces off of Flora really well. (Like, I don’t ship Anagan and Flora but the people who do I don’t blame them, it sounds more interesting) Even if Flora doesn’t reciprocate Anagan’s feelings, Helia feels inadequate and is anxious Flora will lose interest and might even break up with him since he’s the anti-social poet of the group. Timmy could even help after his confidence arc in Season 2. He’s not overprotective of Flora like wanting to fight Anagan since it kinda goes against his pacifism but the narrative doesn’t care about that as much as I do :/
Tumblr media
And lastly I think it’s be neat if we saw a more fleshed out dynamic between the Wizards, the best I can think of is when they’re protected by Syllia and Duman almost slips their plan to which Anagan says he’s being whoosy, Orgon complains about being protected by fairies while Gantlos is fine with it.
A lot of the rewrite is focused on fleshing out the wizards because I want complex villains grr, and they’re perfect for it. The Earth Fairies? They’re good but they’re dead in my rewrite soooo-
I like to think Orgon is pretty manipulative of them. Was he always like this? No, but he’s desperate to secure the disappearance of magic from Earth, and his manipulation gets worse and worse as the episodes go on, in the end being threats and guilt-tripping. He still cares but mostly how the wizards can be of service to the Black Circle. And yes Duman is his favorite because he has the best powers. Shapeshifting will always be OP and the best power in my heart.
Anyway that’s all folks. If I make a part 3 it’ll probs cover some other stuff like Jason Queen, which I like his character, it’s perfect for Musa’s development (until they made Bloom the fucking main singer like WHYYY) or perhaps talk about Klaus or Morgana, Tecna and Timmy and more about Nabu. Anyway I’ll go watch some more nostalgic minecraft videos and webtoon rants. See ya!

Okay, so I didn’t actually think anyone would care what I had to say. I just saw a post that riled me up and I wrote that to let off some steam. That being said, to everyone who liked my post or just read it thank you from the bottom of my heart. Seriously it means so much to me that there are people who notice what I have to say. That being said, I want to do more of these cause I have a lot of opinions that aren’t widespread, and I’d like to start with a post gushing about a certain character that receives too much hate. However, seeing as this isn’t a rant out of agitation this might take a bit longer to get out. With that long introduction out of the way... Cami O’Connell!
As I said, Cami is my favorite female character in the whole of the tvdverse (Bonnie is a close second). The reason why I want to start with her instead of Bonnie or my favorite character (Marcel) is because while both were royally screwed with by the writers, there are plenty of fans online who sing their praises (as they deserve). However, when it comes to Cami the consensus online is either hatred or indifference by a vast majority of the fans (that being said there are still a good amount of people who do love her I’m not saying there aren’t, but they are in the minority). This is something I never quite understood, but I’m gonna try my best educated guess on it.
I suppose before I go any further, I have a confession to make. The way I watched both tvd and to was not a straight line. Several years ago, I decided to finally watch tvd and started with the first two season (which I really liked), then a youtuber dropped a video analyzing the pilot for to and the premise hooked me immediately so I started the first season and kept watching until finishing the third, then I decided to go back and watch tvd seasons three and four, then got bored so I switched back to finish to, and finally after a few months declared I wanted to finish what I started and slogged through the second half of tvd. Why is this relevant? Well I just wanted to inform y’all as this might’ve led to my different perspectives on many things in both shows, and it hopefully can somewhat explain my reasoning
Going back to Cami, why is she my favorite female? A multitude of reasons. Firstly, I love how different she is from other female characters we’ve seen. Characters like Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline are fun in their own right, with bubbly personalities and childish innocence. This makes sense because they’re teenagers! Even Elena’s angst comes off more like young naivety than a wayward soul. I’m not knocking this characterization, it makes sense that a show aimed at teenagers would have teenage girls as it’s main cast. Where am I going with this? Cami might be the most mature character we’ve seen in this universe that actually has a pretty big part in the cast. What I mean is that shows like this paint maturity on women as being motherly or a stick in the mud, but Cami is neither. She’s still fun and loose, but with an aura of restraint and intelligence that needs to be accumulated over time. She’s not even that old! My guesstimation puts her at 23 cause we know she’s graduated college with a degree in psychology and was already working at Rousseau’s in the pilot (you mean to tell me you don’t just get your dream job right out of college, you have to work some dead end jobs first? YA lied to me!). I don’t know how quite to describe it beyond that, Cami just feels like a real person to me, and that makes me invested in her life even more.
Secondly, is her personality beyond her intelligence. I love how empathetic and kind she is! In the span of three seasons, she had helped almost everyone in the show while never sticking her feet into the main drama. That’s another thing, she knows when something’s over her head and will step out when she can, when something is pushing her, she fights back. I love that despite how kind hearted she is, she’s not a pushover. If there’s something she doesn’t like, she will attest. She may be nice, but get on her bad side and her sass will cut you like a knife. Considering she’s only a human against these witches, vampires, and originals you would call this unrealistic, but it works because unlike most people on the show, she’s smart. I know I just said beyond her intelligence, but I just want to gush about how fun it is watching Cami get out of trouble on her own by using nothing but her brain (I just think it’s neat). Characters this complex are not usually reserved for women on the cw, which leads into my final reason.
I love how much agency Cami has throughout her run on the show! Like, her story isn’t stapled to Klaus, she does so much without him even being there. In tvd, I can’t think of a single storyline Elena had that wasn’t tied to one or both of the Salvatore brothers, Bonnie is constantly being abused by the writers, Caroline is forcibly impregnated, Hayley starts off with her own goals before being tied to Jackson and later Elijah, Davina also starts off with her own ambitions before also being shackled to her love interest to resurrecting Kol being her only storyline in season three. I’m sure there are more, but these are just ones off the top of my head. While this makes me wish she had her own storyline, I acknowledge she is a supporting character (which begs the question of why none of the women in the main cast get this luxury but I digress).
This has been very long, and we’re just getting to complaints. Unlike complaints about the ship, I have yet to find an argument about why Cami sucks that isn’t factually incorrect, so if you have one please share. The first complaint I hear is that Cami is a copy of Caroline (I’ll give y’all that have seen the show a second to stop laughing at the statement). I’ve already explained why Caroline and Cami are two very different characters (hint: one is bubble and energetic and one is calm and mature), I know they’re both blonde, nice, empathetic, and have names that start with c, but try paying attention to what you’re watching then maybe you’ll have a better grasp on it. Secondly is that Cami’s only purpose is being Klaus’ love interest. Like I stated, there’s a lot Cami does where Klaus isn’t even present, unless you’re saying everyone Cami has had a story with was a love interest (So Davina, Josh, Hayley, Elijah, Marcel cerca season two onward, Vincent, Lucien, that detective guy, and her uncle Kieran), in that case I think y’all are onto something with Cami being a Mary Sue cause she getting all the action (note the sarcasm)! That’s another thing, people say Cami’s a Mary Sue cause almost everyone loves her and she has basically no flaws. First of all, I don’t believe Mary Sue to be a character problem but a story problem, and above all an excuse to neuter powerful women lest they make fragile men uncomfortable. Second of all, we see Cami form these relationships in real time through her actions not by her existence. Third of all (not that she needs them to be a good character since other favs don’t), Cami has her stubbornness that eventually got her killed and the fact that strength wise she is the weakest character in the show by her being human.
Are you catching on to some of what I’m saying? Most of these complaints aren’t even true, yet it’s all we hear. My first inclination was to blame this hatred on klaroline shippers who were bitter that their ship could no longer sail, but then I saw posts of people who claimed not to ship them and still hated Cami because she was “just a love interest.” Which leads into the other problem with haters: the hypocrisy. Reasons people hate Cami are elements in other characters that these same people love. Never mind the fact that some of these complaints don’t even apply to her like the love interest thing. To use something that isn’t a lie, people will hate on Cami for sleeping with Marcel in season one when Marcel is Klaus’ son, meanwhile y’all seem to forget Elena not only dated but cheated on Stefan with Damon in the finale of tvd season two (spoiler: she kissed him on his deathbed while her boyfriend and his brother was searching for a way to save him, which doesn’t even go into all their kisses in season three) and furthermore shipping Marcel with Rebekah who would be his aunt (I know some people who ship them acknowledge this but damn). I also know these people jumped at the chance to attack Cami for stealing the white oak stake in season three and ignoring what she was going through meanwhile will wave past everything Elena, Damon, and Caroline did when they had their humanity turned off as “they were going through a lot” (disclaimer: no hate to either of those girls, they were understandably in much pain, just wanna expose the hypocrisy). This all made me reevaluate the reasoning as more than just shippers being bitter, this seemed much more malicious to just be that.
After a lot of thought, my only conclusion I can come to is sexism. Cami is a very different female character than what we’re used to, she’s strong willed, opinionated, smarter than the men, and more mature. I guess fans weren’t ready for a character like that so assumed it was bad or just wrote her off as too different, but that’s giving the benefit of the doubt. To be honest, I still don’t know why she was so hated and continues to be ignored by fans, but maybe it’s time we start asking that question. It’s time we appreciate characters like this so maybe we can have more of them on the cw. It’s time to give Camille O’Connell and Leah Pipes the respect they deserve!
(P.S - Can someone far more talented than me please put out some Cami x reader content? I’m starved of my girl and Leah is too pretty for my gay brain to function!)

The Rewatch Academy: Episode 4 of Season 1
Tumblr media
“Man on the Moon”
I am in no way a good analyst so my little analysis and speculations probably sound a bit goofy or pretty wild and probably mean nothing at all. Everything I put into this post about each episode is purely what I noticed or thought, whether it’s funny or serious. I will be making jokes, so please just leave it at that (in no way am I trying to make fun of an actor and or character!) I am also in no way saying I noticed this stuff first. This is just what I noticed while rewatching these episodes

☂ So at that point Luther had already been alone for about five years (due to his siblings leaving when they were 18 or even 17 according to Diego), and by alone I mean he did’t have his siblings with him. I’m not counting Reginald, Grace, or Pogo because I’d imagine they weren’t the best company. There was a two year gap between Luther getting the serum and then being sent to the moon. He had already been “alone” for five years before he was sent away to be completely alone for four years. He hasn’t had really any social/outside interaction besides going on missions for almost ten years, which means Luther is an awkward dude and he hasn’t been a true leader because he hasn’t had anyone to lead. I don’t think people really realize this and I think that’s where some of the hate towards him comes from
☂ We see that Luther looks into Allison’s and Klaus’s bedrooms as he makes his way down the hall, and I’m willing to bet he did that for all of his siblings. Makes me wonder how many times the siblings went to Five’s room to visit it or to even check with hope that he had come back
☂ I wish I could ride my bike around my house and chug a gallon of milk :[
☂ I can’t believe that Reginald still made him wear that leather battle suit 💀
☂ Why are there posters of animal anatomy in the infirmary?
☂ Apparently it takes between two to four months to grow a full beard, so that’s  about how long Luther had been lying there
☂ *suffers through the Allison and Luther scene*
☂ “HoPe I wAsN’t BeInG tOo LoUd”
☂ Vanya and Leonard were really sweet in the beginning. Screw you Leonard
☂ It’s really sad that not one his siblings notice that Klaus is gone. Not. One.
☂ Are you telling me that Klaus and Five are certified freaks? At least I’m sure that’s who Cha Cha is referring to, or maybe it’s Luther
☂ I tried looking up tortures in Trinidad to see if Cha Cha was referring to any specific event, but I think it’s just a random thing in the show
☂ It’s only when Diego mutters “The boy” that it reminds him either of Five’s superhero name “The Boy” or his new appearance as a teen again so it finally clicks in his head that that’s who the mystery kid is
☂ Diego admitting that he doesn’t really know how to process his feelings!
☂ He’s very protective of his family and that’s something that I love about Diego. He doesn’t know who Hazel and Cha Cha are but all he knows is that they are searching for Five for some reason and that his siblings almost got killed last night
☂ Five doesn't realize the suffering that he’s putting his family through at this point since he’s only focused on finding who’s responsible for the end of the world. It’s ironic that he’s doing all of this to keep them alive and safe and yet him not being with them almost got them killed. Five buddy, you should have included all of your siblings from the start no matter how much they annoy you
☂ Also where has Five been this entire time? He left the van at night and now it’s the next morning. He’s been following the guy but why did it take him so long to corner him?
☂ Ope, and there’s a continuation error! When Luther takes his arm out of Five’s dresser, he takes part of the wood panel with him. When it cuts back to Diego talking there’s just a fist size hole
☂ “We barely got out with our lives.” Okay but where were you, Pogo?
☂ It’s funny how quickly they revert to child-like shame when Pogo scolds them. At least they still respect him I guess
☂ Is Hazel eating potato chips with ketchup?
☂ I think one reason why nobody notices that Klaus is gone is because none of them saw him that night during the attack. They possibly assumed he already had left the Academy??
☂ Looooove the “Shingaling” scene. They are straight up vibing
☂ I don’t know why Luther was frustrated with the van door being locked. It’s not like he could rip the door off or anything.......
☂ I have a two questions here:
Why did Diego know where to find Five based off of the book? Sure he saw that it came from the library, but that doesn’t mean that he’ll be there
Wouldn’t Luther and Diego have seen the smoke coming from the Meritech building? Unless they left immediately and weren’t able to see the smoke even though they probably were still in the vicinity when it began to burn
☂ Five is holding the man’s arm to make sure that he doesn’t get away (hard to tell in the pic below though). He needs that sense of security that this lead isn’t going to escape his grasp, but I’m sure that if he were to run he wouldn’t get far when you can just teleport after him
Tumblr media
☂ I got a nice pic of Five (also the dude on the bike that was riding behind Five as he runs up in this shot just does not care that this building is on fire)
Tumblr media
☂ When it shows Five on the ground, it at first starts off with light and slightly comedic music before it quickly switches over to something dramatic. I always thought it was funny that they play the light stuff as we see Five just laying there 💀
☂ You can see just how quickly Five’s face changes from shock to disbelief and disappointment as his only lead is literally blown away from him look, you can pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks. Also Five definitely would have had hearing issues since we can see that the windows on the building behind him were shattered. He’s staring into your soul....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
☂ There’s nothing really significant about this at all, but Whippets are racing dogs and in the comics Five goes to watch a dog race at one point
Tumblr media
☂ “I hate sprinkles.” Hey, me too!
☂ I love that Griddy’s is still open despite the damage that was done to it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
☂ Diego left home at 17 (which is illegal so I wonder if he was emancipated or maybe Diego ran away and Reginald didn’t care to look for him) so I wonder if the others left when they were 17 too or if they waited until they were 18
☂ Luther I don’t really think you’re one to talk about being “grown up” my guy. In fairness none of the Umbrellas know how to be fully functioning adults, not even Five who’s about twice the age of his siblings and is almost a senior citizen
☂ “I stayed because the world needed me.” Hey that was basically Five’s reason too, but more so for getting to see his family again. Anyways, like brother, like, uh, brother!
☂ "And things are never gonna go back to the way they used to be.” You sir just predicted the next week(s) (and technically years in the 60s) of your life and the lives of your siblings! This also applies for what happens after those weeks/years, but we haven’t gotten there yet but it’s certainly not the way things used to be!
☂ How was Luther upset enough that he wanted Diego to stop talking after he said something genuine and a bit sad?
☂ This whole relationship talk isn’t exactly relatable......
Tumblr media
☂ He’s just chillin’
Tumblr media
☂ Reginald can ✨perish✨ Oh wait, he already did
☂ Here I am taking any little scrap and running with it, but when Five says he’s going through puberty twice does that mean that he didn’t get his aging altered by The Commission? In the comics, Temps Aeternalis/Commission stopped Five’s aging but here it sounds like that didn’t happen. Since we haven’t heard anything about Five’s DNA in the tv show we don’t really know much about his aging alteration either. I think that they really do have to leave that part out due to Aidan himself, who is a growing teen, and for the fact that they would need to come up with an excuse for Five’s aging (Aidan already looks different in S2 and he’s taller too). I wish they would bring this stuff up in the show!
☂ Five deflects answering the question of what he’s the best at most likely just because he’s just distracted but also possibly because he doesn’t want his brothers to know at this point
☂ First the feral chimp smile and now this
Tumblr media
☂ Five actually sounded serious when he was talking about how many people he has killed and how he’s the ”Four frickin’ Horsemen” which is more so an exaggeration but it still shows us that he views himself as dangerous and powerful. He revealed this to them while he was drunk, even though they don’t really understand, but I wonder if Five ever actually planned on telling his siblings what he did and how much blood he has on his hands. I feel like he would have told them after he had saved the world from the apocalypse, but yet again I could also see him brushing off questions in relation to what he just said to Luther and Diego to hide his past from his family
☂ ✨”Little Psycho”✨
☂ As eerie as all of those ghosts are, it’s a really neat scene
☂ It’s not really meant to be funny, but Klaus denying the duct tape just reminds me of a little kid refusing to go into timeout
☂ I guess Cha Cha got out through the door next to the bathroom when Klaus was banging his head on the table?
☂ It’s a shame that Patch died right away, I really liked her
☂ Klaus, where you’re going really isn’t any better
☂ It’s sweet that Diego puts Delores down gently and doesn’t just toss her somewhere. Even though she’s a mannequin, Diego knows that she means something to Five
☂ Well Luther I think it’s pretty self-explanatory what he meant. You just need more context
☂ Diego: *signaling that someone, possibly a threat, is approaching and to be alert*
Luther: 🕴👁`👄’👁
☂ Even if they did think that Klaus had left the Academy before Hazel and Cha Cha attacked it, it’s sad that it took them this long to think about him
☂ Luther patting Delores is so cute
☂ Say it with me kids, “Patch deserved so much better!”
☂ My heart breaks to see Diego so heartbroken and upset, especially when he says “I gotta go, okay? I can’t be here when they come, okay?” Ugh, that gets me
☂☂☂☂☂☂☂

I’m just thinking about this tweet from Plec. She basically used KC to generate buzz for Legacies. She hates KC and the fandom. but doesn’t it speak volumes how despite her dislike for the ship and fandom she can still “service” them for views and clout? But never did that with any of Bonnie ships? This is why when I see other fandoms like KC’ers say “plec hates them the most” i’m like where? Plec hates no ship or no fandom more than the ones involving Bonnie. She could give DE’rs a rainkiss cause they begged for it for years. She could give KC a one night stand and a cross over cause the fandom petition for it. But she couldn’t give this same “service” to any of Bonnie’s popular ships. She couldn’t put her dislike for Bonkai aside and milk its growing popularity on her dying show like she was able to do for KC. And this is why Plec is called racist.
I’m all for a show that doesn’t romanticize, encourage or support women being paired with toxic murderous men but when you have a show where this only applies to a Black character it doesn’t come across as some feminist stance, it comes across as “othering” Black women. And saying-without-saying-it that only white girls are special enough to have their princess moments.
Big bad murdering 1000 year old hybrid Klaus becomes a hopeless romantic around Caroline and Cami because they’re just oh so special pretty blonde women. Big bad murderous vampire Kol could become a romantic for the 16 year old white girl cause she’s oh so special. Had Kai stayed on tvd you can bet he would’ve suddenly become boyfriend material to some white witch/girl.
Even though I hate Damon and don’t ship him at all with Bonnie, I have no doubt if Bonnie was white we would’ve saw a hookup between Bonnie and Damon even if DE was still going to be endgame. We would’ve saw more scene between Bonnie and Klaus/Kol and Bonkai definitely would’ve had some sort of hookup. Even if Plec would’ve gave BK the KC treatment and ignore the ship till it was convenient for her to milk it for clout.
I don’t know if this was all Plec or if the network was also behind this anti-Bonnie agenda. But it’s gross and I will always be bitterly upset over what they did to Bonnie.
I think it's primarily Plec. While Kevin isn't woke by any definition (it was his idea to set the show's flashbacks in the Confederacy), he appeared to be someone who won't... waste a character or a potential relationship just because of prejudice. He will be insensitive to issues, but he won't go out of his way to sideline an important character out of pettiness. You only need to compare how Bonnie was portrayed in s2 versus s3. In s2, she had a romance with Jeremy, which had problematic elements but it existed. She interacted with all the members of the group, her feelings about helping vampires vs protecting the town from them was explored, etc. In s3, she's cheated on, and her relationship ends, she becomes almost entirely a plot device who only appears when it's plot relevant. She doesn't even get to speak about how she feels about what happened to Abby - that privilege is given to Caroline. Or compare how Tyler was written in s2, and how much praise and enthusiasm Kevin had for his storyline, to what happened in s3 and following.
At the same time, TheCW network was inherently racist at that time. (They've got better, or probably just smarter). TV tropes talks about it here: On a less pleasant note, the launch of this network was the death knell for African-American-cast sitcoms on network television for several years, as it removed UPN, the only broadcast network that was still committed to running those types of programming. So it was a case of like attracting like. Plec's writing was racist which fit TheCW's portfolio.
And it should go without saying, but I 100% agree with everything you said about Othering Black Women when the rules only ever apply to the ships they like or want.

OKAY. SINCE ANONS SEEM TO BE INTERESTED. HERE IS MY DAWSON’S CREEK 1X01 REVIEW.
@jayciethings IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
1. I think the opening scene does a good job in establishing the central struggle of the season and it does it in 3 minutes: 1) things need to change and Joey wants them to 2) Dawson doesn’t see why anything has to change and doesn’t see what Joey is trying to say 3) burgeoning sexuality 4) Joey-Dawson friendship.
2. I also think the Joey-Dawson friendship is also established really well and it’s actually a time where dialogue and action work in tandem. They give a brief history/overview of their friendship: “you’ve been sleeping over since you were 7″ “i’ve seen you pick your nose, scratch your butt” while also showing them watch tv, playfight and ultimately end up sleeping in the same bed, like they did when they were 7.
3. I actually don’t find the dialogue as annoying right now.
4. I will forever be angry that they didn’t pay to have the original music with their scenes because Dawson’s Creek is not Dawson’s Creek without “I Don’t Wanna Wait”.
5. “He did it again, he grabbed my ass.” “Like you even have one.” Joshua’s delivery is perfect because it’s resigned and un-offended.
6. “I’m Jen.” “Oh right, the granddaughter from New York.” That actually isn’t clunky. It’s a good way to do exposition.
7. “You look different.” “Puberty.” LOL Joey Whitter sass.
8. Honestly, at least so far, Joey’s behaviour makes sense for a 15 year old girl who is in love with her best friend who doesn’t see her as a sexual being and then has to watch him salivate over The New Girl. No, that isn’t Jen’s fault but sometimes people on this site act like teenagers or adults for that matter don’t have messy and not-so-great emotions/reactions to things. Unless, apparently, they’re men who are rapists and serial killers, then the understanding is boundless.
9. It’s actually refreshing to hear “Mr. Leery” “Mrs. Leery” since teens in shows now just call adults by their first names, which I would NEVER do. I still can’t do that. If I had to address initiumseries’ dad it would be Mr...
10. I also think it’s funny that this dialogue is being made fun of but this kind of cadence and irony is the kind of thing shows go for now -- Riverdale tries to emulate this and I would argue Euphoria tries to do an edgier version of this. Like Nellie insulting Pacey, that kind of tone is what they’re trying to go for with Cheryl.
11. I’ll admit this is more fun than I thought it would be so far.
12.  I LOVE WHAT’S EDGY FOR THE NINETIES. SHE IS IN A SUNDRESS. SETTLE DOWN.
13. “I have it on pretty good authority that mothers have excellent sex.” LOL Pacey, dick move.
14. Renting The Graduate, how on the nose.
15. THEIR CLOTHES ARE SO 90s.
16. The soundtrack pisses me off so much.
17. Oh Dawson. I knew so many self-important, I’m-so-deep-I-like-these-kinds-of-movies or -this-kind-of-music boys in high school. Like I find it so typical that he thinks his obsession with Spielberg would interest Jen.
18. Dawson taking Jen to his studio is like Klaus taking Caroline to sees his drawings.
19. Oh man, I remember being a kid and watching these teen shows with my cousin and seeing how Capeside High School was with everyone on a quad and throwing footballs and being like HIGH SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE LIKE THAT and my cousin just being like
Tumblr media
20. I like how Dawson’s Creek is the whitest show and they still managed to have more Black extras than Gilmore Girls.
21. Dawson and Jen actually have a nice chemistry. But everyone is coming on super strong with Jen and she’s just kind of like, this seems normal.
22. The film teacher is a dick for no reason. I’ve had my fair share of dickish teachers but this is excessive right off the bat.
23. Lol poor Jen, she really is trying with Joey.
24. I like how a status of Joey’s class is the fact that her sister is engaged to a Black man *eye roll*
25. I don’t know of any school where teachers ate in the cafeteria with the students. In my school there were teachers who supervised the cafeteria but that’s it. Wow, I spent like no time in my high school cafeteria.
26. “I’m having a climax issue”
Tumblr media
27.  Tamara, Ms. Jacobs, you should be in jail.
28. I like how this school LOOKS like a school.
29. Ugh, a trans jokes. Ugh, there was so much of that in the 90s.
30. “Nothing has to change. We can talk about anything.” Honestly, from a screenwriting point of view, this is a solid pilot. I remember in a screenwriting class I took, we studied The Social Network and every 10 pages someone calls Zuckerberg either an asshole or a jerk or something in that vein as a way to reiterate a key part of the theme of the movie and while I don’t have the pilot script in front of me, DC does reiterate the theme of the season frequently without it being repetitive.
31. The dialogue isn’t as hyperbolic as I remember tbh. And I’m going to say it again, shows are aiming for this, even the one episode I saw of the Winx Saga, when they try to flirt about mansplaining, when she’s fighting with her mom about how she’s not a feminist, they’re trying for this. But DC manages to make it more natural and it’s because the Core 4 have a charm. Even if you hate Dawson.
32. Who is Dawson’s dad. Is he in something else?
33. No, I just think he looks like Dr. Cox.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
34. Dawson’s rant about sex not being important is hilarious. Yes, Dawson, you’re just pursuing Jen out of intellectual and philosophical desire.
35. I like how Joey is supposed to be a tomboy just because she’s the only girl/woman in Capeside who doesn’t wear a sundress.
36. Poor Jen.
37. Joey is super dramatic, I get that, but I kind of love it because I’m going RELAX but the way I would to a teenager. Like CALM. DOWN. Also “all I do is understand” is something that we needed to see more of before that argument.
38. Dawson, you never ask anyone else any questions about themselves, lol.
39. “How can you say you were just renting a movie??” Pacey is such a fifteen year old and I do wish the show would just ... let him be one? And what I mean by that is Pacey is supposed to be the friend with the edge, the fact that he “pursues” Ms Jacobs is supposed to attest to that fact, it’s framed as taboo and yet they’re presented as being on equal footing, even the way her date moves to grab him out of his seat when the fact of the matter is, he’s a kid, and if the show didn’t actually make the Tamara/Pacey relationship a storyline and made it about another way teenagers have certain idealized perceptions of relationships or apply kid knowledge to adult situations which still makes them kids, it would’ve been interesting too.
40. Dawson is literally dressed in different shades of beige. If that doesn’t say everything you need to know about his character --- which is intentional. But like jfc man.
41. I love that they can’t say “masturbate” so she has to say “walk your dog” I LOVE THE NINETIES.
42. And you know what, after that question was asked, the sheer heartbreak on Joey’s face and the sadness in Dawson’s eyes is done really well.
43. LMAO SO ANGSTY. No one does angst like the 90s.
44.  And legitimately, the ending of this pilot is great screenwriting because a change is noted, the beginning of the episode, Joey does end up staying the night, the end of the episode she leaves because they both realize it’s true that things are changing and yet Dawson answers her question about what time of day he masturbates and to who because they’re still Dawson and Joey. And that’s the way a pilot should be written.
OK. I’ve done it.

While the idea of an Anti-War Activist Klaus is neat I don't think saying it wouldn't be that different from Cult Leader Klaus is true. The dynamic would have played out very differently. He wouldn't have run away from his "followers", he wouldn't have had reason to travel the world, Ben and his relationship wouldn't have deteriorated so badly, having a purpose wouldn't have left him as depressed as he was, and he'd probably have been thrown in an asylum to silence him by opponents because '60s.
Yeah I agree. All of what you said is basically what I meant when I said I didn't like the cult story line. I don't think I phrased it well in my original post because I was more musing than making a full "argument" or anything like that so I can understand the confusion. I will do my best to clarify.
What I meant was that if Klaus was the leader of an antiwar movement he would have a similar group of followers, have a large amount of influence in the world, and upset the timeline because of all of that. That's how it would be the same.
But like you said, it would also be very very different because he would have much better intentions behind what he was doing and would run into fewer interpersonal issues because of it. Essentially, I think that the very basic, stripped down concept of "Klaus accidentally becomes a leader of a movement/group of people" part would stay the same, but instead of it being played as a joke it would have been more serious. Does that make sense? That's what I was trying to say.
His role would be similar but turned from a negative character moment into something more positive that showed growth and had a larger connection to the overall story. "Leader of a fringe political group with large group of followers" and "leader of a fringe cult with a large group of followers" are not super different on just that first level, but would branch into huge and important changes to Klaus's arc and the overall story.
As for the last point-- maybe he would have been institutionalized or maybe not. It would be interesting to explore that dark turn for sure. However, Klaus is a survivor, that's for sure. With how he managed to worm his way in with the highest ranks of society, I can see him being really politically savvy if he wanted to be. He's actually pretty smart, in my opinion. He just doesn't like to apply himself.

Superhero Gothic
Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous post (special shoutout to @jeyfeather1234 💛 ) about superheroes and gothic media! I know it’s been, like, a month, but here we go.
Here’s a bit of a look into some common gothic themes, and how they apply to Doom Patrol, The Boys, Watchmen (2019), and The Umbrella Academy. This one’s a bit long, not gonna lie, but I hope you enjoy!
Part I: Let’s Talk About Gothic Media
There is not actually an all-encompassing definition for gothic media, or even a universally agreed-upon one. You’re probably familiar with some well-known gothic works (think Dracula, Frankenstein, Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King) but there is a lot of debate on what exactly makes them gothic.
There are some common themes in gothic works, though: families/characters under the control of a tyrannical paterfamilias, the crumbling of the established order/estate, long-buried secrets that have consequences in the present, and supernatural events that are stand-ins for/reflective of the emotional state/past actions of the characters.
(Note: these aren’t all the themes of gothic works or even most of them, but for purposes here, I’d like to limit this analysis to them. I’d love to talk about other themes/ideas, though, if anyone has them. 😊)
So… superheroes (quick overview in case you haven’t watched any of them… spoiler warnings for the rest of this discussion)
Doom Patrol:
Five misfit superhumans attempt to rescue their mentor figure when he is kidnapped by an old enemy.
They are very, very bad at it.
Also features a singing horse head, a sentient nonbinary teleporting street (who is by far the best character) and the narrator is the fourth-wall breaking series villain.
Beautifully weird but will also emotionally devastate you. Criminally underrated, tbh.
Watchmen (2019):
Story takes place after the canon of the graphic novel which is too much to summarize.
Alternate history (that should really feel more fictitious than it does) where white supremacist organization the Seventh Cavalry, masked police officers, and former superheroes in hiding all collide in Tulsa Oklahoma
Swept the Emmys this year and ABSOLUTELY DESERVED TO
The Umbrella Academy:
Washed up former child superheroes are forced to reunite when their father dies under mysterious circumstances
Time travel, dysfunctional siblings, and a killer soundtrack
Basically a family drama with the superhero story as secondary (complimentary)
Probably the most obviously gothic of all of these it is aesthetic AF
The Boys:
Superheroes exist but they are corporate sellouts under the control of evil company Not-Amazon (AKA Vought)
Regular human protagonists try to hold them accountable for their actions with varying (read: usually minimal) success
Yes, it’s the one from those weird ads earlier this year
Billy Joel!!
Part II: Niles Caulder, Ozymandias, and Other Terrible Father Figures
The Tyrannical Paterfamilias:
Does not always mean a father figure explicitly, often relating to the notion of a patriarchal tradition, or family inheritance that plays a role in controlling the main characters.
Sometimes, it is a father figure.
Sometimes, it is a representative of patriarchal tradition/male head of pseudo-family unit.
So, uh, role call:
Reginald Hargreeves (even in death) holds power over his children, and has shaped all of them into the adults they have become, and that drives the majority of the conflict. Each of the major character individually grapples with the after-effects of his abuse. Luther feels the need to be the leader and protect everyone and alienates his allies as a consequence. Diego constantly asserts himself as a hero (often to dangerous extremes) because it is the only way he was ever valued. Allison has to teach herself boundaries and responsible use of her powers after he encouraged her to abuse them for years. Klaus turns to drugs to cope with his childhood trauma. Five disobeyed his father with disastrous consequences and is constantly fighting to not become him. Vanya spent her entire childhood in the background, and never learned to assert herself in a healthy way. Thanks, Reggie.
Homelander says that The Seven are like a family. While whether or not this is accurate (it isn’t) is up for debate, he does occupy the tyrannical paterfamilias roles incredibly well. Homelander controls every member of the Seven, threatening them and their loved ones whenever they step out of line (read: do not do exactly what he wants in the exact way he wants them to do it.) He is also very closely tied with conservative/patriarchal rhetoric in-universe and at one point dates a literal Nazi.
William Butcher less evil than most of the other characters on this list but the bar is also like, on the ground. Butcher tries to control the Boys in a similar way (Butcher and Homelander are character foils, okay? it’s actually pretty neat). He’s perfectly willing to sacrifice them in pursuit of his own goals, disregards their points of view and the well-being of their loved ones, and tries to cut loose anyone who disagrees with his methods (recall when Hughie tried to rescue his friends at the end of s1 and Butcher… punched him in the face? Yeah, that.) The difference is that the Boys can push back against his without being, you know, brutally murdered. (And also the Butcher isn’t a literal monster; I’m not anti-Butcher, okay? He’s an interesting character and the fact that he seems constantly on the verge of becoming that which he hates most is part of what makes him interesting.)
Guess what, folks? It’s hating Niles Caulder hours. He engineered accidents to turn the main characters into his test subjects, and then kept them conveniently hidden away in his large manor. Stole their autonomy and independence but paints himself as a benevolent father figure. And that’s not even including what he does to his actual daughter, Dorothy. He’s terrified of her growing up (read: becoming a young woman) and so he locks her away for almost 100 years and, when she is freed, yells at her constantly and makes her terrified of showing any signs of maturation (even though she’s 111 and clearly tired of being written off as a child).
The relationship between Ozymandias and his daughter, Lady Trieu, is integral to the final act of Watchmen. Heralded as the “smartest man in the world,” Ozymandias refused to acknowledge his daughter as his until he needed something from her. While Lady Trieu is more self-sufficient and independent than some of the applications of this trope, she goes to great lengths to prove herself, first to him, and then to herself when he rejects her.
Part III: Been a Long Time Gone (Constantinople)
Gothic fiction is often associated with change, and particularly, the collapse of established systems of power. For example, many works like The House of the Seven Gables and The Fall of the House of Usher take place in old, crumbling manor houses. There is a reason for this! These kinds of estates are remnants of a past that is irreversibly gone, and their continued presence in decrypt forms serves as a reminder.
Each of the four series takes place at a moment, either on a wide scale or on a personal scale (or both!), in which an established order is being questioned, and the constant reminders of that failed order are used to gothic effect.
The Umbrella Academy plays this most directly (In fact, there are TONS of parallels between the end of s1 of TUA and House of Usher that I don’t have the time to get into right now... lmk if you want that meta). We can see the Hargreeves mansion as a very literal example of this. While not worn down, the house is notably both very large and very empty. Shelves are filled with merchandise for a superhero team that disbanded over a decade prior, and portraits of a family that no longer speaks to each other. None of the family members ever seem truly comfortable or at ease in the house, and for good reason - every back corner is a reminder of their incredibly traumatic childhood.
In The Boys, the story begins with the fridging death of the main character’s girlfriend, Robin, at the hands of a member of the Seven, a group of heroes so ingrained in the public consciousness that when they later hide out in a costume shop, literally every single costume is for one of Vought’s heroes. The Seven represent the system in power, which, at the disposal of Not-Amazon means corporate greed, shallow altruism, and the cultivation of public personas at the expense of actual humanity.
From that moment on, the sheer presence of The Seven on everything from public billboards to breakfast cereal is a remainder for Hughie (and the audience) that this established system doesn’t work and is based on lies, which serves this effect on a personal level. In the broader scale, however, we also see that the Seven themselves are fracturing under an unsustainable business model. Even their name, “The Seven” starts to seem a bit dated when halfway through season one through the end of season two there are notably... less than seven of them.
The main characters in Doom Patrol are all in recovery after the accidents that irreversibly changed their lives. We see through flashbacks the people that they used to be, and the difference is striking. They were each established in their own elements: Cliff a famous race-car driver, Rita a world renowned actress, Larry a hero pilot, Jane was involved in counter-cultural movements, Vic was a student and athlete. The foundations upon which their worlds were established are completely decimated by the accidents, and now they (save Vic and sometimes Jane) live mostly in isolation in Niles’ manor house, an estate that is far larger than would be necessary to comfortably house a group of their size.
And you feel the emptiness, both in the manor, and in the lives of the characters. They have barely created a shadow version of their own existence when the series starts, so fragile that a simple trip into town devolves into utter chaos.
Angela Abar of Watchmen has also constructed a life following the terrifying act of terrorism on the White Night. It’s a bit of a double life, and we see that the balancing act is challenging for her, even before the story truly begins. The death of Judd Crawford, and the revelation about him that follows is not only traumatizing on a personal level (but it definitely is that), but also upsets her understanding of the world. People she’s come to trust are not just dishonest but truly monstrous. And the more Angela learns about what has been happening, the more her understanding of the world begins to unravel. Her memories, and the memories of those around her are cast in a much more sinister light, and the effect is genuinely chilling.
Part IV: “I’m the Little Girl Who Threw the Brick in the Air”
In episode 3 of Watchmen, Laurie contacts Dr. Manhattan on the cosmic phone booth to tell him a joke. It’s a version of what TVTropes calls the “brick joke,” and it relies on set up taking place early on, other stuff happening, and then the response coming at an unexpected moment.
So, yeah. Events of the past/buried secrets resurfacing with consequences in the present.
Continuing with the theme from Watchmen, the entire series is punctuated with the way the past and the present intertwine, with elements from both the original Watchmen graphic novel, and actual American history. One of the things we talked a lot about in my gothic lit class was the manner in which the overhanging specter of past atrocities casts a shadow over the present, and how many works cannot help but have gothic themes because there are so many horrifying things in the past that cannot be ignored, and provide both context and nuance for the discussions we have in the present. No series tackles these topics quite so directly (and with as much care) as Watchmen. (note: it does not always make for easy viewing, but if you’re in a place where you feel like you can engage with that kind of material, I highly recommend the show.)
In Doom Patrol, the past actions of the characters very much control the storyline (see: previous discussion of Niles Caulder), but the character whose storyline I want to talk about here is Rita (partially for plot reasons and partially because I just love Rita, okay?). We learn when we first meet Rita that in the past she was... not a great person. We know that the trauma of the accident that gave her her powers has changed her, we also know that she still holds on to the guilt and that her guilt has limited the scope of her world for years, but we don’t know what exactly it is that she’s done.
Enter Mr. Nobody, all-powerful narrator who is not just aware of Rita’s greatest sins, but perfectly capable of manifesting reminders of them into the story. She is confronted with empty cradles, and the sound of crying children in the background of many scenes and we see how much it effects her, without a full understanding of why it does (see: The Tell-Tale Heart). Her past begins to haunt her physically, and she begins to crumble in response to it, until finally she is forced to confide in a stranger (and thus the audience). The past actions do not just inform the audience of Rita’s character - they show up to influence her behavior in the present.
The ending of The Umbrella Academy season 1 is super evocative of the gothic genre with Vanya breaking open the soundproof chamber (wherein she was silenced for years) and rising from the basement to destroy the last remnants of the Hargreeves legacy (which would be awesome if the last remnants of the Hargreeves legacy didn’t include the rest of her family). Pretty much every mistake the siblings make over the course of the season feeds together to create the finale, but the primary cause isn’t something any of them actually did. It all ties back to Reginald Hargreeves’ complete inability to be nice to children. Any children. His own and random strangers that need help.
In The Boys, while the extent to which people are making f-ed up choices in the present cannot be expressed enough, we see through the characters of Homelander that many of the present difficulties are a result of past mistakes. Particularly, the profit-seeking corruption within Vought. We learn in s1 through Vogelbaum that Homelander was raised in a lab by Vought as an experiment, only to be unceremoniously thrust into the spotlight and told he was a superhero (which... does not justify a single one of his actions but is still a major yikes). As the head scientist of the project, Vogelbaum is very aware that ignoring his conscious if the name of research has essentially created the biggest threat their world has ever seen.
(Seriously y’all just stop raising your super kids in isolation)
Part V: Put Them Together, and They’re the MF-ing Spice Girls
Having the environment respond to characters’ emotions/mental states is pretty common in gothic works (it was a dark and stormy night = someone is probably not doing super well). One of the advantages of the genre’s tendency towards the supernatural is that, often, those elements of the stories, as well, are reflections of the main ideas of a work of fiction (see: Stephen King’s really unsubtle period metaphors).
Because all of these shows have a ton of supernatural/scifi elements by virtue of being, well, superhero shows, I thought it would be easier (and more fun!) to come up with a short list of elements, what they mean, and what cases they might apply to.
1. A Nonlinear Experience of Time
The Umbrella Academy: legitimately about time travel. Characters are attempting to fix the timeline but are unable to because they are both mentally and sometimes literally stuck in the past.
Watchmen: In the episode This Extraordinary Being, Angela experiences firsthand the experiences of her grandfather, under the influence of a drug called Nostalgia. The episode touches on many themes, one of which being the impact of generational trauma in marginalized communities. Throughout the series, Dr. Manhatten is cursed with experiencing all time at once, and the episode A God Walks into Abar illustrates that, because of this, he is constantly facing the consequences of particular actions before, after, and while he is preforming him.
Doom Patrol: Mr. Nobody is able to physically travel to one of Jane’s flashbacks via his fourth-wall breaking powers, and gives Dr. Harrison an ultimatum for the future.
What it implies: Events, particularly events that evoke guilt or conflict, are not as rooted in the past as one would like to think.
2. Powers/Abilities that reflect personal trauma/failings
Doom Patrol: Larry’s abilities/bond with the Negative Spirit have made it so that he is constantly covering himself with bandages/avoiding other people, which reflects his experiences having to hide his identity as a gay man in the 50/60s. Rita forced herself to walk a thin line, betraying everything in pursuit of her image; her abilities require constant effort to keep her entire body from becoming misshapen and out of control. Vic’s father with boundary issues can literally control his perception of the world through his cybernetic enhancements. Dorothy’s abilities manifest as imaginary friends because she was kept isolated for years at a time.
The Umbrella Academy: pretty much all of the kids’ powers are representative of the interpersonal skills they were never able to develop. Luther is super-durable but also the most emotionally vulnerable of the group. Five can teleport and time travel but always seems to be too late to stop things. Diego can manipulate the trajectory of projectiles but cannot escape the path his father set out for him, not matter how much he resents it. Vanya always forced herself to stay quiet until the sound literally explodes out of her.
The Boys: Annie’s abilities allow her to control light, but she struggles (in the beginning) to bring to light the horrible things done to her behind closed doors.
Watchmen: Not technically a power, but Looking Glass’ mirror-mask is a constant reminder of the hall of mirrors that both saved his life and traumatized him forever.
What it implies: from a story perspective, these allow for an exploration of trauma/guilt to occur on a scale much larger than people simply talking about their problems (as if anyone on any of these shows knows how to talk about their problems...) It also means that the trauma/guilt of the characters takes on a physical form that is able to haunt them, and constantly remind them/hold them accountable for their past actions.
3. Diluted Sense of Reality:
Doom Patrol: The first season is narrated by its main villain, and throughout the season we see that the act of narration itself has an impact on the story.
Watchmen: The event that kicks off the plot of the story is hinged upon a paradox introduced by Angela near the end of the series when trying to speak to her Grandfather in the past through Dr. Manhattan.
The Umbrella Academy: The pair of episodes in season 1, The Day that Wasn’t and The Day That Was take the same point in time and explore two possible avenue for the future from there, with The Day that Wasn’t ending with the events of the entire episode being completely erased from the timeline.
What it implies: you can’t necessarily trust everything you see, even from the audience perspective, giving them a position not unlike that of the characters. The character’s uncertainty and confusion is magnified and reflected in the world that surrounds them.
Other examples: an apocalypse (The Umbrella Academy, Doom Patrol, Watchmen (of a sort)), ghosts (The Umbrella Academy - hi, Ben!), immortality/invulnerability (Watchmen, Doom Patrol, The Boys), and characters that look significantly younger than they actually are (The Boys, The Umbrella Academy, Doom Patrol).
Part VI: Why Did You Write a Literal Essay Don’t You Have Real Schoolwork (yes... shhhhh...)
And... there you have it. I don’t really have some grand conclusion here. This is (clearly) far from a complete analysis but it is the most my finals-week brain can concoct at the moment.
If you have other ideas, let me know! You can always add to the notes or message me – my inbox is always open!  If you got this far, thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Much love! ❤️

So, we all have read, loved and appreciated Ace Klaus, but what about Ace Diego?
I hate Tumblr so much I wrote this out and then it deleted. Let’s try again.
Who has the time? What’s what Diego thinks when Klaus tells him about who he’s met when he sneaks out, or when he sees Allison and Luther making eyes at each other. Who has the time?
He certainly doesn’t. He has to train. He has to keep his family together. He has to keep Reginald happy.
Until he doesn’t. Until his family crumbles and he’s out on the streets without a penny to his name.
Then his life becomes simple goals and obstacles. Find a place to stay. Find a job. Apply for the police academy. Pass tests. Train. Study.
But there’s something lurking in the back of his mind. Why didn’t he feel anything when the pretty girl from the coffee shop smiled at him? Or when his handsome neighbor asked him for beers?
He meets Eudora at the academy. They don’t so much as “become friends” as she decides that he’s her friend.
They study together because she calls the rest of their classmates idiots. He agrees, of course, and is glad she said it and not him.
They go out for coffee before they study, which becomes drinks after they study. Which becomes movie nights and dinner dates.
He doesn’t notice at first. The warm feeling in his stomach. The ache in his heart.
Of course Eudora is the one who points it out. She says that she’s seen the way he looks at her, smiles at her, and would he like to buy her dinner some time?
Oh so that’s what that is...
He likes dating. He likes that they cuddle during movies now and he can kiss her softly after dinner. They hold hands and link arms. She tells him she likes his eyes and his nose and even the scar on the side of his head. He does not tell her where it’s from.
It’s Eudora who brings it up. Sex.
It’s not that he wasn’t thinking about it... it’s just... he had expected it to... “come to him.” Weren’t those sort of feelings supposed to come with romantic ones?
But he felt no desire for it.
But still... he couldn’t tell her that. She’d leave him. Who would want to date someone if they couldn’t even have a real relationship.
So he doesn’t tell her. When she brings it up he pretends to like the idea. He tells her he’d been waiting for her to want it. Because of course he wants it. He’s a guy, he’s supposed to.
Thank god Eudora was smarter than him. He doesn’t know what gave him away. The look in his eye? The waiver in his voice? Whatever it was, she was having none of it.
She told him they didn’t need sex. If it wasn’t important to him, it wasn’t important to her. She liked him just the way he was.
She also said if he ever lied to her again she was leaving his ass.
As usual, he should’ve listened to her...
When they break up he can’t even blame Reginald for his misfortune. This time he’d fucked up all by himself.

rp and ableism.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: GUN VIOLENCE, R*PE MENTION, ASSAULT MENTION, ABUSE MENTION, ABLEISM, INC*ST MENTION.
what if..
- someone walked into your place of work and shot you and your coworkers… - someone walked into your school and shot you and your peers… - someone walked into your home and shot you and your family…
- someone shot you and disabled you and/or your loved ones for the rest of your lives….would you one day just….realistically…fall in love with them and fetishize being in a relationship with them…
consider...
what if your family and friends looked at your suffering and just shrugged and said… ‘i think you should be in a relationship with the person who assaulted you, shot you, disabled you, r*ped you, tried to kill you, whatever….i just ship and support it so much bc it would be cute, because of my reasons, because of what’s best for me and what i want, not what’s best for you!  i don’t really care what’s best for you when you would be so cute with this person who assaulted you. now kiss!’
i don’t ship raven with anyone who had selfishly abused her or point blank NO EXCUSES ASSAULTED HER. you can’t really give two fricks about a character if you place her with a person who abused her and FOREVER DISABLED HER just to get your ship rocks off, or to justify why the ASSAULTER is a victim of whatever in their past they might be a victim of that has nothing to do with the choice they made as a grown ass person to harm someone else’s life.
nope. point blank, john murphy may not have intended to hurt raven, he thought he was shooting at octavia, bUT DOES THAT MAKE IT OKAY? HE.HURT.RAVEN. his selfishness when HE didn’t want to die alone, the times he’s completely abusive to raven verbally and emotionally, and other people as well...mind you, but to raven specifically, calling her names that mock the disability that HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GIVING TO HER, all while he wants pity or understanding for the hardships his parents put him through.
this is how this fandom has worked thus far, for example.
john murphy: meanwhile, go-sci’s monstrously hideous one-legged goalie attempts to defend. fandom: i ship it they cute. that’s love.
Tumblr media
raven reyes: i can fix anything. john murphy: except her leg. fandom:
Tumblr media
raven reyes: you looked better dead. fandom: FUCK YOU RAVEN.
Tumblr media
stop putting female characters in the pocket of their male abusers.
john murphy is a very redeemable character, he is, this is not an anti-anyone post or really even about murphy SOLELY, it’s an example. bc i could bring in how raven was abused by a dozen other characters and i could even bring in her toxic moments towards another character here or there verbally. every character has in some way, abused another, assaulted another, the 100 universe is very different and extreme from the real world we live in, but does that mean ‘don’t consider how a character would realistically feel towards someone who assaulted them’? no. i do my character studies on pretty much everyone on this show and adore them all for their flaws and shit, but this is a…’i refuse to be ship-blinded to the point that i care about one of the characters in the ship more than the other’ or WORSE. ‘i care about one character of the ship at the EXPENSE of the other’. CARE ABOUT RAVEN TOO, and what’s best for HER.
i would kill to see more of that in the rpc tbh, people caring about what’s best for other characters in THEIR character’s life, enough to consider that Raven was forever disabled by someone and to consider how in-real-life they might feel if a male came into their safe place and shot them and took so much from them by doing that.
i get it, it’s fantasy, it’s not real life, but consider applying these ableist beliefs to real life, consider for example how many people in the rpc fetishize inc*st and sexual orientations, but ask them if they would really go bang their family in real life or if they really feel it’s okay to fetishize someone’s sexual orientation, is it okay for men to fetishize two women who are only interested in women or is it quite a bit gross? yeah. consider.
what happens is people see these character’s faceclaims and think…that’s hot, but don’t consider what the realistic feelings would be for their character to have towards the people around them, so they project the fetish. i’m willing to bet the majority of the people who sit writing incest of dean and sam or rebekah and klaus would not actually go bang their siblings, so why dismiss the character’s reality by saying that they would bang their sibling? if men or women come into your place of work or into your home or into your school and act aggressively, attack, assault you in real life, are you realistically going to be dreaming about a relationship with them? SIMPLY CONSIDER….
tldr: i legit have more love and care in me for raven reyes than i do for luna, the muse i write, why? because luna loves that girl over here in my head and she’d be fucked if i only sat here thinking about what’s best for luna OVER thinking about what is best for the person she loves. k bye.

but yeah, i agree with your tags. i was so invested in klaus and ben's relationship, the highs and the lows, that i felt kinda empty when they didn't say goodbye. they deserved better than vanya passing ben's last words to klaus. but since there's sparrow!ben for season 3, i'm wondering how klaus would react to seeing him. i always wonder if he will try to approach ben alone, and after a while, sparrow!ben will snap and ask klaus what he's doing, and klaus will say that his ben is gone. :(
Yeah, I’m not gonna lie it’s not that I disliked season two but some things I personally think they could have handled better, considering they decided to completely change tone and pace compared to season one and that’s also something that left me feeling a bit unstable at first. I’m not a fan of “cheap” comedy and I think it was kinda overused this season (I love Luther and I’m happy he’s growing but I also think he could have done that without all those fart/dumb jokes 😬 he may be emotionally stunted cause of Reginald’s abuse but the man was on a moon mission for years, his hero-name is literally Spaceboy since that has always been his primary interest, he’s no ignorant fool).
In my opinion, season one was more balanced in its light and dark moments, serious conversations and scenes were treated seriously, explicitly or implicitly, we always got to see the implications and consequences of what was happening. This didn’t really happen in season two. If you pay attention every (potential) emotionally charge dialogue is interrupted by a comedy stunt (Diego was also a victim of this, multiple times, no one ever acknowledged Five’s admissions of insecurity, Allison’s role in such a pivotal storyline like the civil rights movement is completely disregarded except for Klaus’ jab at her during their first meeting all together etc.)
But when it comes to Klaus and Ben, man they really drew the short straw here. I can understand wanting to give other characters room to grow but again, it’s the how you do it that matters. Season one left you with a sense of attachment to all of them because you got to know a bit about everyone’s past and present. To take a character so complex as Klaus and then just having him going through the motions of what you wanted to happen to him (being alone for three years, developing his powers, relapsing, spiraling, losing Dave, losing Ben) with such levity is not something that sits well with me, sorry.
I think if it wasn’t for Robert’s incredible performance a lot of things would have fell completely flat. We get two or three hints that he’s uncomfortable with so many people touching him, crowding him, never leaving him alone (possibly because that’s how it has always been with ghosts all his life) then nothing. He openly speaks about Dave multiple times, he’s vocal about someone possessing him and still nothing. He was sober and in control of his powers for three years and no one knows it. Hell, he doesn’t even use his powers at all except for two or three instances (but this can be applied to pretty much everyone except Five and Vanya). Again, don’t get me wrong, it’s okay that his progress is not a positive one, that people still ignore him, that he feels like nothing has changed. That can be an interesting narrative as well but as I see it, it was portraited with a sense of shallowness that left a bitter taste in my mouth.
His one conversation with Ben that could have really meant something (them talking about Ben feeling powerless to stop Klaus from hurting himself and Klaus recognizing it and apologizing) was immediately cut short in favor of that whole -honestly creepy- possession arc. For Ben to shout ‘I regret nothing!’ once Klaus finally kicks him out of his body when he’s the one who knows better than anyone what it means for Klaus to be touched and used without consent… it was chilling.
And finally, I want to believe they didn’t give them proper closure because as you suggested, that’s something that is going to be explored in season three. Otherwise I can’t possibly believe that’s it for them, a half-hearted proxy goodbye after 10 episodes of spat venom.
These are all very personal opinions; I know most people may disagree but I hope it’s clear I’m not coming from a place of ‘whining because my fanon ooc characterizations got messed up’, it’s more about narrative cohesion that (as I see it) has to be the priority when managing so many characters at once.

Spending too much time in a fandom can be kinda harmful and tweak with your perception of certain characters. I read the asoiaf books once like two years ago, but have recently started a reread plus read tons of metas outside of tumblr and the biased fans.. and i have found that lots of character stereotypes are complete bs and self-protection by the fans. I have always loved dany and still do, but she's not the saviour the fandom portrays her to be. There is a certain tragedy to her, she has done heroic things.. in a sense and she is not a one dimensional villain, but she isn't a hero either. She's not a hero, she's a complex character and most people are stanning the idea they have of dany, not the actual her. Then we have sansa being portrayed as the typical mean girl through arya's pov. If you pay attention, it's mostly arya's conclusions that sansa means to hurt her, not sansa's intentions. Plus the whole kingslanding arc is very traumatic to both sisters because of all the shit that went down and had a big effect on their relationship. There's just so much complexity in most asoiaf characters, but the most popular ones on tumblr seem to be dany, arya and sansa and we've got fans self-inserting and making up traits they seem fit for these characters. I think you're one of the few people in the asoiaf fandom who has a clear understanding of said characters. And i like that you do like daenerys, but you aren't making up excuses for her actions. Like no one is questioning you actually liking klaus mikaleson just bc you aren't redeeming him.
Yeah I agree and I think that could be applied to pretty much everyone, if you’re in a fandom for a certain character, clearly it’s going to further warp your perception of that character in a positive way. However, with Dany it’s at it’s most extreme because what she is clearly being telegraphed to do is so much more fucked up than what everyone else is going to do. It’s weird, because for me that POV trap element is something I really like about Dany, I like the fact that I was tricked and I kept rocking with her character long after it was clear that things were going to go sideways, but it seems like a lot of her stans have had the opposite reaction and have committed even more to what a flawless heroine she’s destined to be. LOL yes and facts, like obviously for me there is a certain “good guy” character archetype that I’m interested in but there is also a very obvious “bad guy” archetype that I am way into, and often times I tend to like bad guys more than good guys. And it’s weird, because I don’t necessarily think it’s that I have a clear understanding of the characters but more so that I don’t think there is anything wrong with being a good guy or bad guy in an imaginary world so I’m never tying myself up in knots trying to make them look better than they are because I somehow take that as a reflection of myself or something.

Love at first sight was bullshit, but goddamn the person at the bar was testing Diego’s belief in that.
He wasn’t even meant to be here, really. He won a boxing match and was feeling pretty good and for once in his life, he accepted the invitation to get drinks after with a few of the guys from the gym. Any other day he would’ve said no, gone back to the boiler room, go out to see if there were any crime scenes to crash. There was something that told Diego to go, and when he looked at the person laughing with their friends, he started to believe Klaus’ stupid rants about fate.
Diego clinked his glass with his friends, tipping his head back as the liquor passed his lips. He began to walk toward the bar before he had even set his glass back down on the table top, ignoring the comments from the guys he was with.
A hush took over the little group at the bar when Diego approached, everyone looking at the newcomer with apprehension.
“Hi.”
“Hey,” they greeted with a slight smile that made Diego’s heart skip a beat.
“I’m Diego.”
“[Y/N].”
“Mind if I buy you a drink, [Y/N]?”
[Y/N]’s eyes flitted over Diego’s body as if they wanted to take inventory of the man to decide his worth. Apparently he was worth something when they finally agreed.
The pair separated from both of their groups as they shared a drink. One drink turned into two, two turned into dancing, dancing turned into kissing behind the bar, kissing behind the bar turned into them stumbling through the door to [Y/N]’s apartment, hands exploring each other’s bodies with a sense of desperation.
------------------------------
Diego groaned when the pounding in his head woke him up, rolling over to hide from the pain before realizing he wasn’t in his bed. He sat up, memories of the night before finally catching up with the rest of him. The space beside him was already cold and he didn’t know what the fuck to do. Was [Y/N] still around? Was he just supposed to leave? Did they trust him that much if they were already gone? One night stands weren’t his thing for a fucking reason.
He rolled out of bed and started to put on his strewn clothes, following them like a trail of breadcrumbs through the little apartment toward the front door. Diego blinked when he was finally faced with the bright light coming from the kitchen.
“Morning.”
Diego ran a hand through his hair before pulling his shirt back on. “Morning.”
“Sorry if I woke you up, I have work early. Help yourself to some coffee,” [Y/N] offered with that smile that made Diego’s heart all fluttery again.
Diego nodded and moved around them to grab a mug, noticing their bookbag on one of the kitchen chairs. He plucked the security badge off the top, smiling at the picture. “You’re an ER nurse?”
[Y/N] quickly grabbed it from Diego’s hand, though their smile was still playful. “Are you always this nosy with people you sleep with?” they asked over their shoulder as they clipped it to their scrubs.
“Only the really cute ones.”
They snorted, shaking their head in disbelief.
“I had a lot of fun last night.”
A blush started to creep up the other’s neck and Diego just wanted to kiss all over it like he did last night. “I did too,” they finally admitted, taking a bite of the breakfast burrito they prepared.
Diego took a sip of his coffee as he weighed his options: make this a strictly one time thing, or try for a repeat.
“We should do this again,” he said as casually as he could, leaning back against the counter.
[Y/N] slowed down their chewing, clearly going through their mental pro-con list at his offer. “I’m not really looking for anything serious,” they finally answered with a little nod. “But if you still wanted to do that again, I’d be down.”
Diego decided to take what he could get and scribbled his number on the pad stuck to [Y/N]’s fridge. “Thanks for the coffee.” He left a kiss on their cheek before giving his mug a rinse, grabbing the rest of his clothes as he made his way out.
------------------------------
Diego didn’t want to do this, but he didn’t know where else to go. He groaned as he pressed the bleeding wound on his side harder. He attempted to lift his other arm to knock on the door but couldn’t stand the pain, so he kicked the door he had become familiar with. Repeatedly.
“Jesus fucking Christ, I will call the cops!” he heard from the other side of the door, sighing when [Y/N] flung it open.
“Diego? What the fuck?”
Diego didn’t answer, pushing past the person he had started to consider a friend. “Got shot,” he finally managed to mumble, shuffling toward the bathroom.
“I’m sorry, did you just say you got shot?!”
Diego dropped down onto the edge of the bathtub with a huff, letting go of his wound to unbuckle his harness.
“Diego, you need to go to the-”
“No.”
“You got shot, though!”
“You treat gunshot wounds before?”
[Y/N] looked on in horror as Diego peeled his blood soaked shirt, hissing as the fabric stuck to the wound. They finally stepped foward to help, sighing when they could get a good look at it.
“Please,” Diego whispered, grabbing the towel he was handed to apply pressure on the gash again.
They huffed, leaving the bathroom to rummage around in the kitchen. [Y/N] was back in a moment, dropping all the supplies onto the counter. “You’re telling me what the fuck happened after, though.”
------------------------------
“You seriously want me to believe you’re a superhero vigilante?”
“You can google the Umbrella Academy. I was the cute one.”
Diego was now laying in [Y/N]’s bed, all sewn up and bandaged. Luckily the wound was closer to his back and he was able to turn around for them to sew him up; he didn’t have the fun and embarassing experience of fainting at the sight of the needle.
He watched [Y/N] grab their phone to fact check his story, raising an eyebrow when he saw their lips quirk into a smile.
“What?”
“You said you were the cute one but that isn’t matching up with what I see here. Number Four, though...”
Diego rolled his eyes, picking the pillow up that was beside him to throw it at [Y/N]. They just laughed and batted it away.
“You better not be going out there again for a while,” [Y/N] said more seriously, properly replacing the pillow beside Diego.
“It was just a graze,” Diego protested.
“I’m not stitching you up again!”
Diego could see their genuine worry and it caused him to step down from the fight. “How long do I wait?”
“A few weeks.”
Diego groaned dramatically, reaching out to grab their hand. “Fine. But only if I’m able to come over... I can just lay here and let you do your thing.”
[Y/N] laughed, crawling forward to kiss Diego softly.
------------------------------
Diego, for the first time in his life, actually listened to medical advice. He was aching to get back out on the street but he found things to fill his time. He started to coach the little kids at the gym, helped Al out more when he needed it, and spent more time with [Y/N].
Their relationship wasn’t something he was really used to, but he was enjoying it. It usually centered around sex, but they would also just spend time together. Maybe watch a movie or talk about work. Diego even started to do little handyman projects around [Y/N]’s house while they were at work so they wouldn’t have to wait for their landlord.
Diego huffed as he flopped himself on the sofa in the Academy mansion, already dreading this ‘family meeting’. He nodded toward Klaus as the Séance joined him with an overdramatic groan.
“Can we get on with this? I have plans,” Klaus announced with a flair of his hand.
Allison started to speak, Luther interjecting every so often with details that she missed. Diego grabbed his phone and started texting, unable to hide the smile that was taking over his features.
“I’m sorry, are we bothering you, Diego?”
“Usually, yeah.”
Allison huffed, snatching the phone out of her brother’s hands, ducking when he immediately threw a knife at her head.
“Who the hell is this?”
“None of your fucking business,” the vigilante growled.
“His lover,” Klaus lamented, laying himself across Diego’s lap with the back of his hand gently placed on his forehead. “The cute little thing that has our grumpy asshole in love.”
Diego rolled his eyes, pushing Klaus onto the floor, which just made Number Four laugh. “It’s not that serious. We just hook up.”
“And fix their water heater, apparently,” Luther pointed out, holding up the exchange of messages about the project.
“We have sex and I fix up their apartment because their landlord is a prick. Happy?” Diego grabbed his phone back, shoving it back into his pocket.
“You like them,” Vanya realized softly. “Genuinely.”
Diego just glared at the violinist.
Allison returned to her chair as she thought about her next question, “How long have you two been doing this?”
Diego knew there was no getting out of this. He was going to fess up or they’d dig and make it a hundred times worse. “A few months.”
“Friends with benefits don’t usually last that long without becoming real, darling Didi,” Klaus pointed out.
“Do they seem to actually like you?” Luther asked, his features showing genuine concern for his brother.
Diego just rolled his eyes. “It’s just sex and favors. They patch me up and I fix up their place. That’s it.”
“You need to talk to them. See if you’re actually their boyfriend or if you should end it.”
“Excuse me for not wanting to take relationship advice from you, Allison,” Diego snapped.
Everyone sat in silent shock, Diego taking the chance to leave the mansion once more.
------------------------------
Diego would rather die than admit that maybe, just maybe, his siblings were right. He had fallen for [Y/N], almost instantly. They were charming and fun and kind. He smiled whenever he thought of them or saw something that reminded him of them. He adored doing boring little things with [Y/N]. Just laying in bed together was quickly becoming Diego’s favorite pastime.
But he was fucking terrified. After Eudora, Diego didn’t want to get burned again. He was still just a vigilante with twenty bucks to his name. [Y/N] was a successful nurse who, for some fucked up reason, put up with his shit.
Well, Diego knew what that ‘fucked up reason’ was. Everyone did. [Y/N] was willing to put up with him just because the sex was good. That’s all he was to them and he would just have to be happy with that.
The voices of his siblings didn’t stop floating around his mind. Every time he wanted to pick up the phone to call [Y/N], Allison was there telling him to admit his feelings and end it if they didn’t feel the same.
The days started to build up to weeks since the last time Diego stopped by. [Y/N] would send a text to invite him over, but he always made up some stupid excuse to avoid it. They would move on and he wouldn’t have to deal with the pain of actually ending it and knowing that he wasn’t more than a cock and some tools.
Diego really didn’t want to do this. The thought of crawling back to this door when he had essentially ignored the person on the other side for a month and a half made his stomach turn. He huffed, knocking on the door until he could hear shuffling from inside the apartment.
“Seriously?” [Y/N] asked when they opened the door.
Diego only managed a sheepish smile, mumbling his thanks when they stepped aside to welcome him. He made his way to the bathroom like he had countless times before as the nurse rummaged through their kitchen.
“If you got shot again-”
“Just beat up.” Diego sighed as his shirt was pulled off, the cool air soothing the searing hot pain around the cuts and gashes.
“You have so much fucking nerve,” [Y/N] mumbled as they began to clean him up. “Ignore me for ages and then expect me to just patch you up. You could’ve been dead and I wouldn’t have known.”
“I’m sorry.” Diego wasn’t even sure if he actually said the words out loud, but [Y/N] paused to survey his face.
“I just worry.”
They stayed silent, only the sound of water splashing as [Y/N] dipped the bloody rag in the sink.
“Why?”
Diego looked up, taking a deep breath as he tried to think of an excuse. Maybe pulling the band aid off would be best. “Someone told me you were only in this for sex and free labor around your place and I was being an idiot.”
[Y/N]’s eyebrows shot up. “And what? You’re not only in this for sex and no questions health care?”
Diego smirked, looking down at his boots. “I wish that’s all it was sometimes.”
Silence filled the air once more. [Y/N] placed their finger under Diego’s chin to lift it, dabbing softly at the abrasions there.
“Do you want more?”
He pulled away from the hands, gently pushing them away from his face. It didn’t matter if he wanted more, he didn’t deserve it. Not from [Y/N].
“Diego.”
Their fingers were cold from now red water in the sink, sending a shiver down Diego’s spine when they gently brushed over his cheeks. He let [Y/N] tilt his head back up, a knot forming in his stomach at the sight of their beautiful face.
“Be honest. Please.”
He couldn’t find the words, and the words he did find he was sure wouldn’t come out properly. Diego nodded, looking back down at the ground, afraid of the response from the person he cared so much for.
There was the feeling of soft lips on Diego’s temple, then his cheek, slowly leading to his lips. He leaned into the kiss, noticing that it was softer than he had ever experienced. It was filled with love.
“I want more too.”
Diego kissed [Y/N] again, unsure of what else to do with this feeling that was building in his chest.
“I love you.” The words came out surprisingly simply, passing over his lips like their name on a warm night.
[Y/N] paused before saying, “I love you too.”
The pair shared another kiss and the words tasted as sweet as they sounded. Diego didn’t want to go a day without hearing those simple words. He didn’t want to live another moment without their gentle kiss after speaking those words.
Diego didn’t want to go a second without [Y/N] in his life as his love.

[ WOLFGANG NOVOGRATZ, CIS MALE , HE/HIM ] hey, isn’t that KOL MIKAELSON ? you know, that 24 / 1000+ year old ORIGINAL VAMPIRE. i’ve heard they are UNEMPLOYED, which means they must know what’s going on in this town, right ? anyways, i’ve heard they’re looking to GET UNDAGGERED AND WREAK HAVOC in beacon falls. don’t tell anyone, but they’re AWARE of the supernatural. you can’t miss them — they’ll remind you of BLOODY HANDS LIGHTING A CIGARETTE, AN IMMENSE SENSE OF LONGING FOR SOMETHING YOU ALREADY HAVE, NEVER BEING GOOD ENOUGH, RUNNING SO LONG YOU FORGET WHAT IT MEANS TO SETTLE DOWN, FEELING AS EMPTY AND HOLLOW INSIDE AS YOUR COFFIN.

welcome to my feeble attempt to apply approximately seven seasons of mediocre characterization and justification into current kol, because nothing after season 3 is real anyway. we out here speeding up the process.
as a human:  wild, excitable, mama’s boy.  always striving to make his father proud.  the only of his siblings to truly tap into his magic, he was enthralled by esther’s abilities.  reveled in the power that being a witch gave him.  closest in both age and relationship to klaus and rebekah, the three of them essentially popped out one after the other.  looked up to elijah, even if they had little in common.  and even a thousand years ago, found finn to be an impossible stick in the mud.  he aspired to be a role model for henrik, like klaus and elijah were for him.  RIP henrik.  kol missed out on the tatia hype because he was chasing after a young warrior in their village.  keeping it on brand for an entire millennium.
the Big Bang™:  immediately disdainful of his newfound bloodlust when he realized he lost his magic.  discovered that violence and pain was as close as he would find to a replacement for the power he so desperately craved.
vampirism heightens emotions, and it was evident.  free-willed.  disobedient.  wild.  dark.  abandonment.  jealousy.  fear.  shame.  a fire blazing beyond control, the only solution is to let it burn itself out.
literally as clever as the devil and twice as pretty, idk what else to tell you.
over the next 800 or so years he traveled the world.  when it was convenient he joined his siblings, and when their precious always and forever became too much to bear, he left.  outrunning mikael, learning about magic from witches of all cultures, getting daggered by klaus.  little mikaelson things.
in the 13th century, he was ordained by a monk.  if you need someone to officiate your wedding, he’s your guy!
over time, he learned how to and taught witches to create dark objects so he could essentially perform magic without actually having any magic.  catch him going on a grand video game quest to find these because they’re probably scattered around beacon falls
he hated marcellus, he hated that his siblings cared more for this newcomer than they cared for him.  too blinded by his rage to reflect on what part he might have played in that.
his violent, gory, sadistic antics were no more than a desperate cry for attention to his brothers and sister.  by the 1800s, blood and suffering was all he knew.
christmas, 1914.  bitter are the wars between brothers.  the one he once thought himself closest to became his greatest adversary.  kol wanted to neutralize his brother, retaliation for countless daggerings over the centuries, but he trusted too much for his own good.  rebekah, his own sister, ratted him out to klaus, and into the box kol went one final time.  his strategic mind got the better of him, and now he was paying the price:  a hundred year nap
SEASON ONE.
daggered!
SEASON TWO.
daggered 2:  still daggered!
SEASON THREE.
the bitch is back.
perhaps it’s a survival tactic learned from his prior daggered returns, but kol adapts to the modern world shockingly quickly.
he learns that secrecy is a thousand times harder now.  but it’s subtlety, or back in the coffin he goes.
kol wants to be better, though.  his time in the box taught him a lesson.  and he longs to be a part of always and forever.
at least, that’s what he tells his siblings.  how much is true and how much is manipulation is beyond even kol.  after all, some men want to watch the world burn.
what matters now is that he’s alive.  and hearing how much power is contained within beacon falls, he’s sure that he can find a way to restore his magic.
plot wise????  idk he’s probably just.  helping klaus out of a skewed sense of loyalty, subtly plotting his own revenge, and generally just fucking about.

*asks u abt ur bnha sona* blease tell me abt them 🔫
Oh i never saw this !!!!! His name is Klaus Itō and ive been revamping him a teeny bit from his original version made in 2017 so NOW his story::
He was born to a father who was a white american pro hero who had moved to japan and married a non-hero lady, when then had kids and popped out Klaus and his oldet brother. His father died when Klaus very young, prolly from hero work idk it doesnt rly matter. He ended up wanting to be like his father tho so he aspired to be a pro hero, which led him to applying to UA!!!! And he got in!!!!!!!!
He was a year behind Aizawa and Mic in school, but the three of them ended up becoming friends pretty quick, bc Klaus and Mic sought each other out as fellow heard of hearing kids and then klaus became friends w aizawa thru mic. Which hey!! Speaking of them being hoh heres the lore!!
For one Mic is totally hard of hearing bc of his own quirk. Probably has tinnitus too fuckin L (i feel you man). Klaus also has lost parts of his hearing bc of his quirk! (I think Mic’s would probably be a lot more severe since much louder + a lot more exposure to it before hes even at UA let alone as an adult. I think once both of them are at UA they both have control over their quirks in that they dont release them out of nowhere so if they do hurt their ears with heir quirks they could hurry to recovery girl and get fixed up a bit [but its not gonna help past damage yk]) oh also Klaus has Waardenburg Syndrome which includes high likelihood of hearing impairments in some way as symptoms so he really wasnt lucky on any front for his hearing.
SO WHATS HIS QUIRK THEN??? It used to be imo kind of stupid so i changed it and now its cool™️ lol. Basically, at will Klaus can release a powerful explosion off of his body. Basically just like emitting an explosion from his whole Self. It doesnt damage him (so long as nothing catches on fire after the blast yk) and he cant only ignite one part of his body or direct it, it goes out from everywhere on his body. The strength of the explosion that is produced is entirely dependent on his emotions! The stronger the emotions, the bigger the blast. Since ur usually not super joyful during battle, its mostly used w negative emotions lol. Once he’s grown up he has a pretty good idea of how big the explosion will be by gauging his mood, and hes practiced a lot of self restraint / meditation type exercises to help him control his emotions when he needs to. If his emotions got the better of him, not only would he make a much bigger bang than needed/intended, he’d also have worse decision making. Both those factors add up to easily hurting civilians or other pros when fighting villains, so he has to be very cautious about using his quirk.
Okay so. He goes to UA. Hes friends w Aizawa and Mic. WELL. when he enters his 3rd and final year (and aizawa and mic have graduated), his mother passes away quite suddenly from illness. It takes a very heavy toll on him, and leaves his older brother as his primary guardian; and he happens to be a huge nasty prick. Klaus very quickly spirals into depression, and its all just very bad. He prolly barely graduates bc when in such a volatile emotional state, his control over his quirk is terrible. Aizawa and Mic try to comfort him as friends ofc, but they both have already been rushed into their lives and signing up with agencies and things, so theyre way too busy to really help him. So, pretty much as soon as Klaus graduates and gets his provisional hero license and shit, he just picks up and fucks off to America, here he works at the agency his father used to work at before going to Japan. And he stays there. For nearly a full decade.
He’s called up by UA either the year before, or possibly the year of when the show/manga first starts, and hes asked to come back to Japan and teach there. And so he Does. I’m pretty sure I had him as..,, a Math teacher 😭 gays dont know math tho so idk how he did that but no matter what he teaches, he is a teacher at UA. And thats!!! When he reconnects with Aizawa and Mic!!!!!!!! And they fall in very gay disconnected childhood friends to lovers fashion. The students get to see their disaster relationships. Its good.

Here is the sketch of a new ref i am making for him currently but its transparent bc i was transferring it to a different device to color a couple days ago (and then didnt color it what a surprise). His hero outfit is just this little spandex suit made of super heat/blast resistant material prolly special made, then he wears regular clothes on top if hes at school or in public and such. When he uses his quirk it Will incinerate his clothes lol so he kind of wears the hero outfit 24/7 just in case
I think thats it tldr he is gay and so am i
Oh also hes probably trans too who knows
