*vibrating intensely* hi please tell me your autistic Mickey headcanons I'm collecting them
ohhhh i have so many thoughts
ive already talked about this ad nauseum previously but i always have time to discuss my favorites autist
his hatred of sleeves is totally an autistic thing. he just hates sleeves, specifically anything thats not long sleeved or sleeveless
he seems to prefer warm weather. he bundles up sooo much in the winter and he talks about moving back to mexico in s11. he would rather go back to prison than move any more north than chicago
i am once again mentioning that compulsory heterosexuality is absolutely part of mickeys masking. he seems to not gaf about masking about a lot of "typical" autistic things like not understanding social cues/rules or lacking conversation skills. a lot of his masking is more survival based like seeming straight and masculine and tough
^ which makes sense that when he starts unmasking, he likes patterned/hawaiian shirts :') he loves how visually simulating they are and he can tolerate the sleeves bc the fabric is very breathable and light
he really likes loud sounds specifically loud music and ambient/outside sounds like the ones he looks up in s11 to help him fall asleep :) he seems like the kinda person who can only do one thing as once, ie cant listen to music and play video games at the same time. when he does something he has to Devote Himself To It. if hes listen to music thats what hes doing. hes gonna sit there with his giant ass headphones on and stim or just cover his eyes and focus on the lyrics. hes s natural loud talker. he could yell over a jet engine if he wanted to. altho he doesnt like people raising his voice at him for obvious reasons. he cant stand pure silence it makes his skin crawl. ian loves his peace and quiet so mickey often throws on his headphones for parallel play. ian cooks or reads his book in quiet and mickey listens to deftones or doomscrolls on tiktok. parallel play becomes a huuuuge part of their bonding as a married couple :)
when he gets overwhelmed he completely shuts everything out. he acts like a cornered animal and lashes out at anything even if someone is trying to help. he needs space until he calms down or he'll have a meltdown and start throwing/breaking things or causing physical harm. sometimes he becomes too overwhelmed too quickly and completely skips the "shutting everyone out" stage and go straight to getting physical
he stims a lot by hitting or throwing stuff so ian trains him to use soft things like pillows and plushies (he absolutely has a plushie collection) when stimming. i think he also hits himself on the head sometimes. :( (totally not projecting) but be mainly sticks to his regular stims like messing with his eyebrows, chewing his nails, and biting his lip. he has an oral fixation! ian gets him a chew necklace. he likes singing and dancing with ian tho hed never admit it. he likes flapping his hands and jumping but hes still too embarrassed to ever do them. he unconsciously sways and rocks, especially if hes in the same spot for a long time
ian absolutely buys mickeys most of his sensory/stimming shit. lights, weighted blanket, spinner ring, chew jewelry, peelable clear nail polish, bike chain (which we see mickey has on his bedside table in s5 so i 1000% believe this was his first stim toy!!!) toy, tangles, different types of plushies (squishmallow, squishables, jellycat, reversible octopus (mickeys fav they both have at least one for every possible emotion), plushie dreadfuls, palm pals, different shapes and textured fabrics.) ian often steals a lot of these plushies; they are their first children. after they move back to the southside and are doing some work on their house, ian notices mickey still needs the catharsis of breaking shit, so sometimes they go on dates to the junkyard with baseball bats and destroy shit together
mickey literally cant be in the same room with ian when he eats his eggs with ketchup. the concept itself is so gross he cant tolerate it
hes very sensory seeking, again partly because of his oral fixation. he likes spicy food and LOVES sour food. obviously he loves candy and junk food. they have lamps, other small lights, and color changing led lights all over their home. eventually they both fall into a routine of communicating nonverbally using different colors of lights
mickey isnt great at communicating verbally tho he tries. sometimes he just cant, its too overwhelming and he cant think of the words to properly express himself. hes much better at conveying his thoughts thru physical means. this is part autism, part learned during childhood
he learned literally everything he knows about society thru movies. he uses a lot of old slang and makes niche references. he refuses to explain any of them to ian
sometimes he goes nonverbal and he texts only using (sometimes too many) emojis and reaction images that nobody gets except him
most people think hes weird and dont get his sense of humor but ian thinks hes the funniest person on the planet! they often make references to inside jokes in front of other people and it annoys the shit out of everyone
ok i have to stop now or im gonna go on forever thank you for the ask

Jellycat Review: Onyx Dragon (huge) 🎀
Tumblr media
When I first saw this guy at work, I immediately put him on hold. I just knew I had to have him, as he'd make a perfect companion for my precious huge Snow Dragon... FINALLY he has found his rightful place on my bed, which means it's time to review him!! I simply adore Jellycat dragons, so I truly can't express how stoked I am to see this handsome fellow amongst my collection.
Tumblr media
Fur texture: 9/10
Onyx dragon's fur is just incredible. It's sleek, soft, and sooo addicting. The deep, sable fur is slightly reflective, giving it a gorgeous, sparkly lustre that it's cousins (snow, sage, etc.) lack. The only reason I'm not giving him a perfect 10/10 (the softness really is incredible, I can't understate it's appeal) is because of the unfortunate texture of his wings and scales. In perfect contrast to it's silky coat, Onyx dragon's scales are suprizingly scratchy and rough. It really does put a damper on the cuddle experience, but I can't be too upset about it. If only they'd chosen to go the route of Dexter Dragon... sigh.
Design: 9/10
I love this plushie. His adorable, silly snout... His precious paws... His long, handsome tail... I often have problems with dragon plushies, because I find that they're often really overdesigned or far too cutesy. The jellycat dragons just have an undeniable appeal to them, as they capture the recognizable likeness of a majestic dragon without making them too, for lack of a better word, ugly. One of my favorite features are the beans included in Onyx's tummy, which give it a great weight and sound. It's so fun to squish and grab this dragon's soft tum... the only gripe I have is, again, the texture of the wings... yes, the sparkly material is a great visual addition to the overall design, but it comes at the cost of alienating some people (like me) with sensory problems.
Size: 10/10
I personally think the jellycat dragons are best experienced in their "huge" size. They fit perfectly in your lap, are ever so slightly weighted, and are amazing cuddle buddies. I actually own a little Onyx dragon, and I have to say, I much prefer the larger version. It really let's the design itself shine, and makes for such a great companion. This would be the perfect plushie to consider modifying with the addition of weighted beads.
Accessibility:
These things sell for an INSANE amount of money online, which I find SO deplorable. I've seen listings from anywhere from $200 to unbelievably greedy amounts like $700~ usd. It's absurd. These dragons are immensely popular, which definitely contributes to their ridiculous second hand prices, but also ensures that they're likely not going anywhere on the site. If you have to get them online, DO NOT buy them for anywhere near those unreasonable amounts. Wait for drops on the site, or get them second hand for fair prices. Please don't contribute to people who think that they can get away with selling relatively common plushies for insane prices.
Tumblr media
Overall 🎀
This dragon makes such an excellent companion that it would be unfair to rate him anything below a 9.5/10. Onyx dragon is simply awesome, from the tip of his adorable snoot to the pointy end of his tail. I would go so far as to say that any jellycat collection isn't complete without him or one of his precious cousins. You CAN'T pass this guy up. Onyx dragon really is the stuff of legends 🎀💖

Bedtime bear review and modification!
Tumblr media
My brother @dead-altar-dog very kindly purchased the amazon 19 inch bedtime bear and gave it to me! I appreciate it so much because aside from Bedtime being one of my absolute favorite care bears, I really wanted to do a small modification project!
Review and Process below the cut!
Starting with the pros, Bedtime bear is ludicrously soft, I will say jellycat levels of soft, this bear is luxurious. He's also very noticeably bigger than any of my other care bears, I'll add in a comparison photo here:
Tumblr media
He's also very pleasantly stuffed, and the perfect balance of firm to squish. His embroidery is extremely high quality and doesn't have a single thread out of place (I usually just trim them). His belly badge is thicker than, and stuffed independently from, the rest of the bear, so it takes on a sort of memory foam texture. The white of his ears and badge are both a lovely mochi like texture, think squishmallow. His nose and hip heart are a lovely color and feel high quality. I'm not sure what to say besides that because I know high quality plastic is hard to imagine but it's very sturdy.
Now onto the cons. The fluff on top of his head is scratchy and unpleasant in my opinion, but easy enough to avoid. I don't like how floppy his legs are when compared to his arms, but you probably wouldn't notice this unless you were carrying him like a baby. While his fur is extremely soft it does shed quite a bit bit first several times you touch the bear, this is true of last of my care bears and is not a Bedtime specific issue.
And now, The Modifications!:
Tumblr media
So first I made this pouch, thinking I would be clever and put a microwavable rice bag in him for bedtime snuggles.
Then I made these
Tumblr media
Ignore the foil I was having a moment. My intention was to disperse the weight throughout the bear, and only have one or two of the pouches be removable. At that point I realized
Tumblr media
His back is too short for the zipper I have and I can't get another. 🤦 so I said OK well I can at least put in the weight, I put in two of the bags and am saving the other two for a future project, now he's very chunky and weighs about 3 pounds (a bit less than a kilo and a half) he's very snuggly and has been slowly amassing a Kandi collection.

what is jellycat pls tell me more
it is my LIVELIHOOD my SOUL my EVERYTHING-- ... it's a company that makes stuffed animals ajkdhdxhhd
so i actually found out abt jellycats in january thru the blog @.jellycatstuffies,, and it is absolutely wonderful go check out it if you can but!! back to the point
so jellycat makes stuffed animals, and each one is so perfectly designed. there's so much love and fun and energy in each plush, so no wonder they're so popular! jellycat has various lines of plushies, like the smudges, fuddlewuddles, or the bashfuls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the smudges have long soft fur and big floppy limbs, the bashfuls have long arms and stubby legs, and the fuddlewuddles sit down with weighted paws and a rumpled fur texture. you can see the similarities between each line, and jellycat is famous for it.
these are just my favorite lines, but there's so many more! the magic of jellycat is having quality plushies in a ton of different varieties (and the organization of it all makes autistic brain go brrrrr lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my faves and the whole family! notable plushies include: orion, my large onyx dragon; daffodil (top center) my blossom blush bunny who's married to lilac (not pictured, she's in my sibling's room); and their adopted son carnation (the little green bunny). also asteroid the t-rex, who's been rlly helping me come to terms w being autistic <3.
jellycats very quickly became my special interest, they're my comfort items, and i love knowing that there's other people who love them as much as i do, because that means i'm not alone. i never could be, with all of these wonderful friends :>
tyvm for asking, i'll leave you with this adorable fossilly t-rex mini:

Opinions on the cordy roy jellycats? Also, people have been saying that the onyx, snow, and sage dragons have rough wing fabric. How rough is it? Thanks :)
Okay, lots of people dislike the Cordy Roy Jellycats because I think they want the "classic", soft and fluffy stuffed animal instead. But for me, Cordy Roys are very nice in their own way and I enjoy the corduroy texture. They are soft, but also robust and sturdy with some weight to them and I feel comfortable taking them with me wherever I go. I especially love the dinosaur and the dragon but all of them have a special place in my heart. Below is the Cordy Roy Dragon that I saw in a local shop wearing a bowtie! Isn't he a total cutie?

What Is Jellycat?
It’s come to my attention that not all my followers are educated on Jellycat.
Basically; Jellycat is a brand of stuffed toys that are pretty popular in the neurodivergent community.
I think they’re probably most famous for their rabbits and octopi toys? But online they’re pretty popular in the neurodivergent community.
They’re popular among neurodivergent ppl for many reasons. They’re very high-quality for a pretty reasonable price (in UK at least), they can have quite a bit of weight to them, they’re very soft or stimulating, and personally, I believe their popularity comes from the niches they fill.
They have aliens, robots, axolotls, warthogs, dragons—they fill a lot of niches, basically. In my experience, finding high-quality plushies of hyperfixations for a reasonable price is hard, so Jellycat is a saviour.
I first got into collecting Jellycats when I was going through my entomology era, and found several cute obscure insects. Then I saw the Zalien, (Allan), and I was hooked.
Jellycat seems to be aware of this niche they’ve caught. In the summer collection I noticed quite a few plushies that seemed like they’d appeal to a very specific audience. Idk if this is true or coincidence, but if so, it’s nice that they’re actively trying to appeal to their audience, unlike other toy companies who tend to ignore an older audience. (Again, I have no idea if that’s true).
Also. I get most of mine secondhand or whenever I come across them, but if u order from the Jellycat website, they come in compostable packaging and in a special drawpull bag!
So yeah. Just thought I’d explain as some of my followers might not know what Jellycat is and why I love them.
I highly recommend their toys! If any of u want me to suggest a plush or something, pls hmu in the asks!
(Reblogs are appreciated! ☺️)

I went to the toy store!! I brought it up to my bio mom (who doesn't know really about regression but she is very kind and accepts childlike loves as part of my personality, like how I love dinosaurs and sharks and mermaids and dragons and trains and outer space and plushies... I do love those things Always so it works out) and she said it looked fun and that we could go!
It was a slight drive away but it was worth it! We both had a lot of fun and she even got two plushies also!! They are called Warmies and can be heated up in the microwave (I have 3 owls from that company) but they are also weighted and so cute!!
I wore a super fun outfit, well, mostly the socks and shoes were fun:

And I finally got some of those bubble squish fidgets!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My new Warmie (his name is Carl)
Tumblr media
And my first! Ever! Jellycat! (I chose him for his softness and I love this shape. He's a dinosaur named Douglas)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I got some food pouch things to keep my snacks all together in my bags! I also got a train whistle!! And some juggling balls because I've been trying to learn again. And some tiny dragons!!

Are jelly cats special in some way such as their filling or are they just cute plushies ?
I read this and thought "okay here we go, let me tell you..." But in short, yes they are very special and they are not just cute plushies. They are very-well made and their designs are unique, but most of all they are so soft and they just make you want to hold and cuddle them all the time. That is why it makes me a little sad when I see Jellycats living on shelves. They are made to be loved! Oh and they have plastic beans as their filling which helps them sit up and also gives them some weight.

i'm new to jellycats and wanted to ask if there's anything special about them that make them particularly useful for people struggling with mental health? (like if they are more 'weighted' than other stuffed toys and work as a weighted blanket, or if their material is softer, etc. ? i have never seen them in person before so idk) also, is there a specific type of jellycat you would recommend when someone is dealing with sensory overload and needs to self-soothe? i deal with this a lot. thank you
It's great that you discovered Jellycats! There are so many things about them that make them special. Their materials are the softest of any stuffed toys I know, for one thing. As far as them being weighted, no they aren't weighted per se but a lot of the bigger Jellycats have quite some weight to them and I think (speaking as an autistic person) they work well for self soothing/ "stimming" purposes. Not just because of their weight but also because of their textures. Personally, I love total smooth softness the most but Jellycat has a texture for everyone. Of course, you need to find the right ones for you and I especially recommend the Beautifully Scrumptious Jellycats as well as the Big and Bold ones! Below are the links to those on the official website for you, I hope this helps! If you have any further questions feel free to message me!
