received my first journal rejection today!

honestly, not surprised and find this pretty funny. i see getting this rejection as an "Academia rite of passage" like now I can say I'm OFFICIALLY in this hoe because I've been told no by a journal

didn't even get reviewer comments whichhh tells me they didn't even find reviewers for it lol. a rejection on valentine's day? how fitting.

on to the next journal submission! :)

Overcoming Phone Anxiety

A personal problem of mine has always been avoiding making appointments or making calls for relatively anything that isn't related to my work.

I am by no means a professional, but these are some little tricks that helped me out!

-Go to a coffee shop with a journal and make your calls. For me, I feel more put together this way and it feels no different than me studying.

Take it slowly! Dont make a bunch of appointments if you aren't ready to.

The people you're calling typically hear many, many people every day. They arent going to judge you or really care. The same goes for cashiers or other similar jobs.

Realize why you're doing it! If you're making doctors appointments, it's to maintain your health and that is hella important.

Remember that you're a bad bitch who can conquer anything!

Hi! I was just wondering if you know any posts with advice on how to work when you are feeling ill?

I know realistically I should rest until I’m better but I’m falling behind already, so I was just wondering if you knew of any advice posts or maybe you have some advice :)

Hi! There's this masterpost by @bumblebeestudy that you could find helpful, , to which I'd add:

figure out which things you can't postpone, and put them on top of your to do list, ideally in chronological order;

try to do a little every day, no matter how small - feeling like you're progressing instead of procrastinating will boost your confidence way more than setting higher goals and not reaching them;

try to figure out what tires you the most, and switch that task for an easier one: if your illness makes you physically weak, switch from rewriting your notes to reading the textbook/your messy notes to organize them/some articles on the subject; if it makes it hard to focus and absorb new information, maybe programming your work and putting your notes in order will be the easier task.

What do you all prefer: Slack or Discord?? I use both, and I like Discord solely because adding different servers is a lot easier than adding workspaces in Slack.

1. what type of music do you prefer?

ALOT. I’m currently obsessed over alt rock stuff. On the other hand, I love EDM and any (not mainstream) pop that has some electronic vibes to it.

2. what’s your favorite subject?

tbh it would be Mandarin lol

i wish that i could... go to an EDM concert?

4. do you like black or white erasers better?

Black tbh because in white ones, you can see the dirt.

All my stationery huehue

Yeah sort of. I use a normal size Re-Kånken.

7. do you prefer gel pens or ballpoints?

Gel pens all the way. But what’s annoying is that they smear alot and it makes my highlighters dirty :(

3-2 days

I think it’s regular sized.

New Studyblr//Re-Introduction

Hi there i’m Crystal! In all honesty I have no idea what to write here, however:

I’m 17

From the UK

I’ll finish my A Levels in a years time

(Crystal isn’t my birth name but internet name) and LGBTQ+

Dyslexic, Autistic, Tourettes. (other mental illness’ as well, YAY i’m just knockin’ them right out of the park right now xD)

Education:

I am taking A Level Photography and Media Studies and a BTEC in Media Production. I was going to take an EPQ but I dropped it as the workload was too much for me.

I’d love to be a camera operator/film maker or something behind the scenes in either on-screen/on-stage productions!!
