behold: the (american) COVER REVEAL FOR MY NEW BOOK ✨
WHAT
queer regency rom-com graphic novel, out later this year
repressed period drama LONGING
vaguely chaotic Austen-ish mashup plot
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
n-b transmasc love interest, let's go
the inherent absurd comedy (tragicomedy?) of people assuming you're cis or straight despite literally all the evidence
🎩☕
inspired by pre-victorian queer history!!!! & real histories of marginalised people that rarely get taught in schools!!!!!
decolonial undertones... come for the lovely fun queer romance, stay for the gateway ideas deconstructing the regency genre

RUBY TUESDAY is an occult cop, a P.I. -- a "Para-Eye" -- created by myself and Charlie Gillespie, who patrols the mean, neon-saturated, demon-haunted streets of Angel City. "Where dat?" I hear ya ask.
After the Fracture - a bizarre quantum-demonic event - Los Angeles becomes twinned with Hell and transformed into Angel City, a town divided up like Berlin after WW2, under the jurisdiction of both human and demonic agencies. Someone has to police this mess, right? Which is where P.I.s like Ruby come in. Ruby’s partner is Sal Zucca, a sleazy, potty-mouthed Mob lawyer who’s now a demon that lives in her left eye-socket. No, really.
The strip has a 70s Punk / Glamrock meets DemonNoir vibe. It's violent, inventive and bloody good fun - all the things that comic books were meant to be! If you miss the crazed halcyon days of early 2000AD, Metal Hurlant / Heavy Metal, etc then you'll love this! Sooo...
If you think you could get behind a deranged, demented comic strip like this, then head on over to the Comicscene Spring Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/.../comicscene-spring-issue-1...
...and pledge, pledge, PLEDGE! We have until 9pm this evening UK time to make this happen. Yes, there will be a digital edition for those of you who live outside the UK and are horrified - as I am - by the cost of UK postage. Let's go!

Out this week: Treasury of British Comics (Rebellion/2000 AD, $28.99):
“For over a century, the comic book annual has been an essential Christmas stocking filler for British children.” That sounds delightful, and Rebellion seems to be getting a huge jump on the Christmas season by releasing this collection of stories from past annuals and specials in March. It includes not only older material by Brian Bolland, Steve Dillon, Cam Kennedy and more, but also three new strips: “The Leopard from Lime Street Vs The Spider” by Simon Furman, David Roach and Mike Collins; “Black Beth” by Alec Worley and DaNi; and “Gustav of the Bearmacht” by Kek-W and Staz Johnson.
See what else is arriving at your local comic shop this week.
