Sometimes when reblogging I think "it's been a while since I've posted anything Spring Awakening-related, people might be surprised to see it on my blog" then I remember what my blog name is

this is random but i thought kakuchos last name was ‘hitto’. if not where did that name come from? did he make it up? i’m so desperate to know more about him
Hello!!! Don't worry, it's not random at all!! (I too am thinking about Kakucho constantly...)
I believe that his surname being 'Hitto' was a mistranslation in the fan scanlation of Chapter 164:
This line was translated as '[I am one of] Tenjiku's Four Heavenly Kings, Hitto Kakucho'. As the English-only fandom of TokRev only had access to the fan scanlations at that time, Kakucho's surname as Hitto took off. The TokRev wikia and even AO3 also tagged him as Hitto Kakucho, which I guess was what made it seem official and further drove that idea in.
However, the line should actually be translated as '[I am the] First of Tenjiku's Four Heavenly Kings, Kakucho.' Hitto/筆頭 (or Hittou if you wanna be precise with the syllables) is an affix to indicate someone as the top of a list. (It can also be noun, meaning the head of a brush.) But because it was written before Kakucho's name in the panel, it made it look like his surname, and hence why it was translated as such (I'm assuming.)
I hope this explains it! Hitto is not his surname, nor even a self-appointed name!!
(And I share the same sentiment.... I'm desperate for more official Kakucho content.... When is his birthday Wakui??!!)

ahhh angel, you’ve been missed!! i’m glad to see somewhat of an update from you! also, did i read that right, you’ve been dragged into kpop? because honestly same, well almost.
i was in love with kpop a few years ago, but fell out of it because the groups i was into either disbanded, or some members left which changed the group dynamic entirely. though recently i came across txt, took one look at choi yeonjun’s face, and now he’s all my mind can think about. but it’s been quite fun reverting back to my kpop days tbh, it gives me a boost of serotonin that i can’t get anywhere else. not even through anime + manga.
sorry about that ramble!! just know that diving into kpop is such a trip!! and if you ever feel like too much of a newbie i’d be glad to help you navigate through it. anyways, are there any groups you’re currently into in particular? because i’d love to hear about them!
also maybe it’s just me, but my interest in animanga has slightly waned now that i got back into kpop. i’m in my mid-20s and accepting the fact that i just can’t pour energy into multiple interests simultaneously anymore,,,,

I used to be a kpop fan when I was like 10-13ish? so 2nd gen will forever have a special place in my heart, but I’m literally the exact same! Dang well. I can tell y'all that this probably isn't a sketchblog anymore LMAO. I'm using Patreon for that now so uh check that out if you want my art.
But I can definitely say that even though this is HECKA intimidating, Tumblr seems cozy. It feels a bit more relaxed than when I left it back in 2020 lmao. On Eliza's Green Walking Suit
Just braindumping on here again, to procrastinate. You know, I'm not the biggest fan of Eliza's costumes. if I'm being honest. They look good quality, don't get me wrong, but something about most of the suit jackets closing in the centre bother me, I can't explain it. Except for that beautiful green walking suit we saw in season 2 (and perhaps even season 3, I'm not sure), which closes off-centre, and I've missed it greatly. Perhaps another reason for this fondness is that it's one of the costumes Eliza wears regularly in season 2, which is the season when, drum roll please, we meet Nash.
(I'd rather not divulge how much time I spent searching for these photos, but you can probably guess thanks to Tumblr's time tags [that's not what they're called, is it? xd].)
Just look at it! It's gorgeous! The brown bag perfectly complements it too! And, side note, who wears lots of warm colours, like brown, red and burnt orange? Nash, yes! (I really hope I remember that correctly xd.) (the picture is from pinterest.com/pin/7740630601781940/ )

Man, I don't know how I expect myself to concentrate in class today when the SIM Card and Social Media Registration Act is about to be passed into law on *Friday.* That bill is going to nullify our right to privacy and endanger our cyber safety.
It's going to make us more prone to hacking/doxxing and, on top of that, makes red-tagging easier.
I don't know how I'm supposed to go on about my day when there is a whole bill that is going to endanger us all.

4. Favorite Thing to Draw
Faces, facial expressions, Pointy ears, Glow Magic stuff, landscape (traditional, abstract), Puns
8. What's the most fun and the least fun parts about your process
Most Fun:
Ideally this lightning of giddy inspiration strikes and I just MUST DRAW or else I will be unable to do anything else. (This is an unreliable reason to do art however, so it should never be depended upon)
But even if this aspect is missing, I like the part where everything of an idea clicks into place. The research starts to come together, the moodboard is helping, the scribbles turn into a sketch, turn into lineart.
Hyperfocus!!!! Hyperfocus is so great to be in. It satisfies my brain being able to hyperfocus on a piece of art and suddenly hours passed by but I finished a thing!!!
Creative activity to me often corresponds with problem solving. The problem often being, that the image I want to exist does not exist. So actually being in the process of problem solving and actually seeing results, thats fun!
Another fun thing - this specifically applies for me to fanart - is when I know a specific person, friend, mutual will enjoy the thing I'm working on as well. It's like "aaah the thing I'm making will probably excite my friend, I can't wait to see their reaction!!!"
Least Fun:
Repetition. I h a t e repeating things I have already done. I don't like doing repetitive tasks or redoing work because I lost my progress due to software crashing. It used to be the thing that would easiest stop me from drawing something. I've gained a bit of a better attitude and harder shell over the years over the course of various professional projects, but it's still a big bummer.
I find posting/uploading + tagging my content on different platforms to be a chore and rather tedious. It has made me think I should just quit twitter/instagram all together because I neither get the interactivity one would want out of them, nor do I necessarily gain any financial benefit from them. Tumblr and YouTube are the most fun to post to, but I know my audience i limited on Tumblr to those, who use tumblr.
Posting in general, while it does result in positive feedback and attention and all that external validation at times, I just find the process boring and rather stressful. Formatting my images to actually be top-notch quality and not be compressed by various platforms takes time, so I actually often just don't do it in the first place.
20. a piece from this year that you're really proud of
I think the one I'm most proud of is one that is not available to the public as of yet. It's an animated short (8 minutes) about coping with the escape from a domestic violence and abuse situation. Most of the work on this was done the years prior to this year, but I did finish a substantial amount of the final animation this year, so I think that still counts. I won't share a link to the video right now, probably in about a year or so. But here are some images from the film:
After finishing that film... long animation does not scare me as much anymore to make. :)
If we want to talk strictly limited to this year and this year only - I will probably say my TAZ Graduation Animations [1] [2] [3] and this character design commission!
23. what's something you hope people notice when looking at your art
Uh... that one is actually kinda tough. I don't really know?
Unless the piece has a specific message/vibe I want them to definitely feel (e.g. my domestic violence film), a lot of times I just want people to enjoy the art?
I guess the normal expectation is, I want them to notice my effort? But even then, with 5 minute doodles, that's not effort that's just.. braindump so this answer does not feel quite universal.
A lot of times though, this specifically applies to animation and maybe comics - I am always pleased when people point out things I put in that were not required to make something work, but are fun to see anyways. (e.g. people pointing out ear wiggles, sign language, background action, Fitzroy getting more angry once he notices Argo's upsetness...) It's nice to see I did not add that detail and decor in vain.
In a way I hope people will notice the things and nuance I put there specifically for people to take notice of. (if that makes sense)

So, I've got a few posts that are tagged "the story I'm meant to be working on". As a writer with ADHD, I constantly have at least 10 of these at any one go (slight exagguration, but you get the point) and they all get left half done.
I completed Nanowrimo back in 2012, and that was the last time I actually finished a story without getting distracted by something else or bored with it.
I don't want to do that with this one.
So I'm just going to start braindumping everything about this story into my Tumblr...for reasons that make sense to me.
So...I guess to start with, it's a sci-fi story in that it's set in a far distant future where humans (at least the humans in this story...probably not all humans everywhere) live on a spherical space station at the edge of "known space". It might be the edge of a solar system, or of a galaxy, but whatever it is, they're on the edge and it's just blackness on the outside.
That's the setting, but the main character is a person in their 30s who has no idea what they're doing with their life (they say write what you know) and is really just trying to keep their head above water as they join "The Educators' Guild" in order to have that as a safety net to their life.
But as for the story, some guy who has been touched by an eldritch being has arrived on the station and starts committing murders in order to take the station over the edge and into the black where (they are convinced) their master awaits them. The validity of this eldritch God is left in the air.
One of the underlying themes is that there is no (or very little) difference between science and magic. We see people use cybernetics and tech for various means throughout the story, and the bad guy uses magic to achieve the same means. For example, there are cybernetics that can scramble your face (not widely available, but they do exist) our bad guy has a "library of faces" that shift and move as needed and are comprised of people they have sacrificed on their way here. Same same, but different.
I'm taking a fair bit of inspiration from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, especially with how the station exists/is run. The reason behind this is two fold.
One: The man was a genius. I don't feel there's much more to add to this point, except to say that I will fight anyone who disagrees.
Two: The idea of the guilds basically controlling the city of Ankh-Morpork (and consequently my space station) makes the idea of the society fairly fluid. I.e. If a rule is established earlier on but someone breaks it and suffers no/different repercussions, then it can be put down to the difference in the jurisdiction to the guild/community laws as opposed to a failure on the part of the writer who might not be paying that close attention.
I'll definitely have more ideas to add to this story as things go on, but as things go, this is where I'm at. I have the vague outline of a story (or rather the world the story is set in and a few characters) but nothing more.
Stick with me as I (hopefully) continue with this story and make it something worth reading.

📓 Writer Proposals Due: April 15 🖋
Woohoo! You’re almost there. It’s now time for you to turn in your proposal so that participating artists can select what they’d like to create art for.
Where do I turn everything in?
First, make sure you’ve actually signed up for the event as a whole. If you’ve been getting emails from tabs you’re all set; if not you should fill out the late signup form before submitting your proposal.
The proposal submission form can be found at the AO3 collection and the tumblr info page linked below. Be sure to read the instructions and question details carefully as it should explain everything. You'll also be required to attach or link to a rough draft for confirmation.
What is considered a 'rough draft'?
This can vary depending on writing styles, but for this exchange consider it to mean a roughly 75% complete work with a clear beginning, middle, and end. For example, if you write chronologically, this could be 3/4 of the fic actually done and the rest in outline form. If you braindump and then prettify, this could be half the work in script/note format with the other half in actual prose. Artists select proposals based on summary, but will use whatever you’ve gotten done up to this point to decide what they’re going to make and get started on it, so make sure they’ve got enough to work with.
Note: Your draft must be either attached to or linked in the submission form.
What makes a good proposal?
The big thing to remember here is that you're NOT trying to attract readers at this point — you're trying to attract an artist. While the submission form itself looks an awful lot like the post new work page on AO3 and the basics are pretty straightforward, pay careful attention to the summary and the art-specific fields. This guide is a little old and for a different fandom, but the overall information is fantastic. I also strongly encourage you to to take a look at the artist's section on the FAQ (if you haven't already).
What’s next?
tabs will sort through and format all the proposals, after which they’ll be posted with plenty of time for artists to look them all over and pick their favorites. Artists should pay close attention to dates (and times!) for claims to avoid missing out - these will be set once all proposals have been processed. Details on who can claim what and when will be detailed when proposals go live. Times listed below are in HST (GMT -10).
