I've been so focussed on building websites that I forgot what it's like to just make a homepage.
There is something commercial and "I want to sell to you" about a lot of sites and while that is absolutely fine and artists also need money to live.
It's nice to embrace something that may be more whimsical and less optimised for a hypothetical sales purpose.

I set the video public again for now. I doubt it will be picked up by the algorithm again, but I will delete comments that attempt to discuss the subject of suicide or the validity of what we currently know. This discussion does not belong there and there is nothing to be gained by having that talk in a youtube video comments section.

I unlisted my somerton video for now because I don't know how to feel comfortable with it being publicly searchable until we know more.
I know I'm not that important but this video did outperform anything I ever posted on YouTube and it had a great comments section. It feels gross to have this be my video with the biggest audience if the subject if discussion took his life 2 days after release.
Hence its unlisted to keep the comment section, but I don't know if I should keep it up at all rn.
I'm... trying to figure out the ethicality of having this online when it got uploaded so shortly before he posted that message.

Yknow people say Fake it til you make it. And a lot of times this feels so wrong especially when you struggle with imposter syndrome.
But to be honest a lot of successes comes through pushing past your insecurities and carrying despite knowing that you're not flawless or perfect. Personally I choose to equate the "Fake" from the saying to this process. The person I'm interviewing with doesn't need to know my crippling insecurities about my own work. They're already here for the ride of learning why I enjoy it regardless.
Art and Creation are not solely measured in the size of the audience it gets. What is truly captivating is learning about the journey of the artist to get where they are.
Faking a little confidence in yourself, insisting on the fact that your ideas stand strong, and still being considerate in reviewing your work will go a long way.
Also. No matter how big or popular you are on social media. Being nice goes a long way. People will remember you, and a lot of job opportunities come from being remembered as being a genuinely nice person.

I don't know but this year felt like I had to do a lot of character development in a very short time span and I struggle to combine one of the worst work months I ever had with one of my technically nicest achievements happening in the same month.
I did so much overtime in that one month in February that the fact I ended up actually winning a small award for my animated short got forgotten in my brain for the most part.
Anyways. I'm on my way to not repeat this type of bastard overtime schedule ever again. I have taken preventive measures.

I'm sorry for being such a weirdo but I think these photos are genuinely beautiful and invite to be interpreted in paint. Big learning and really challenging work. Kinda interesting color study.
I made grids and helping guides digitally and printed the guides on A4 paper with my office printer. Then used chalk to transfer the grids and lines onto the canvas and kept painting from there. There's some slight proportional issue nonetheless so its not fully identical to the photo ref.
