#bookreview The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes #3) by Arthur Conan Doyle This is a collection of 12 amazing short stories, Sherlock's investigations accounted by Dr. Watson. Some are whodunit, some are mystery while some are just curious and baffling incidents and scandals. It was great to read a fabulous detective duo in the history of literary fiction once again. We see many brilliant qualities of Sherlock and Watson's loyalty to Sherlock, his curiosity, and the fantastic way he accounted all stories this collection. I'm still amazed how good Sherlock is in compartmentalizing things. We still see his egoistic, careless and emotionless nature, the way wheels of his mind works faster than normal being and yet once again he won my heart by showing empathy, respect towards women, giving the chance of redemption, and also understanding the situation of culprit. I absolutely loved the way Sherlock accepted he is not always successful and how many time he was defeated. This is written in random order as in some stories Watson is married while some stories are from when he was newly married and some are before his marriage. Most of the stories are light mystery compared to full novels. I loved narration of cases in all stories and it is common thing in all stories. There is more description or narration than actual investigation and Sherlock's observations and deduction but it's what makes this collection stand out most and made it more curious and enjoyable. Overall, The adventures of Sherlock Holmes is intriguing, fun, light collection of stories. This is so far best collection of stories I read not because they are perfect but because I enjoyed all stories even with their predictability. QOTD - which is your favorite classic novel? . . . . #TheAdventuresofSherlockHolmes #SherlockHolmes #ArthurConanDoyle #classic #classicnovel #mystery #detectivemyatery #classicmystery #historicalfiction #bestdetectiveinliterature #bookbloggerofig #bookishmom #bookphotography #bookaesthetics #indianbookstagram #booksteacupandreviews https://www.instagram.com/p/CfMY77vPPtz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Many thanks to @berkleypub for eARC via #NetGalley Out of the Clear Blue Sky by Kristan Higgins⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5/5) Out of the Clear Blue Sky is touching and heartwarming women’s fiction that revolves around Lillie Silva whose life takes an unexpected turn when she receives the shock of her husband leaving her for another woman just when her only son is leaving for the college. The story is about betrayal, loneliness, broken family, adjusting to empty nest and kid being independent, family drama, divorces and its impact on family, friendship and love. Writing is descriptive, witty, and slow to steady paced with first person narrative from Lillie’s POV; and there is intermittent Melissa’s POV- the woman who stole Lillie’s husband- that came as a surprise and also makes the book stand out most from all other books with cheating husband storyline I’ve read before. Apart from the divorce, its impact on family, and loneliness there has been many layers in the book that we see through all the characters and their backstory- drug addiction, bullying, date rape, trauma, unhappy childhood that affects personality, and miscarriage. Author handled all those serious subjects so well. Every aspect of the story is the best part of the book. For the first time I can’t choose just one thing. There are so many emotions, hilarious scenes, witty banter, and deep and touching conversations between characters. Cape Code small town, its description and community add its own charm and make the story even more beautiful. Overall, Out of the Clear Blue Sky is perfectly delightful, emotive, realistic and relatable women’s fiction with many themes and layers. Many thanks to @berkleypub for e-ARC via NetGalley Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Adult Assembly Required is heartwarming and lovely women’s fiction that follows Laura Costello who arrives in Los Angeles to restart her life away from her overprotective family and memories of past tragedy, finds an unconventional group of friends who help her overcome her trauma and navigate through the new city and new phase of life. The story is about support, found family, love, friendship, adulthood, recovering from trauma and anxiety, acceptance, and self-confidence. This is simple old-fashioned women’s fiction or romance that focuses more on friendship than romance. It’s the writing and characters that make the story most fun and fascinating. All characters Laura meets in Los Angeles are quirky, relatable, and adorable. It’s hard not to mention them in this review. I loved many characters but Polly is my most favorite and she steal the show. Romance is like part of the story. We see many scenes with characters’ feelings for each other and their hesitations but I will not say it’s a sole focus of the story and yet it was lovely to see many characters paired up with each other. Climax is predictable. I expected unwanted person turning up at this point but everything happened after this point is really amazing. I loved this last 30% of the book. I had huge smile plastered on my face. I enjoyed Laura’s attempt of big gesture and the way Polly and Nina supported her, I just want them in my life for real. End is perfectly lovely, uplifting and feel-good. Overall, Adult Assembly Required is enertaining, heartwarming, lovely, uplifting, bookish and nerdy fiction with theme of friendship and adulthood that all nerds and bookworms will enjoy. Best Intentions is interesting and gripping contemporary that revolves around Gayatri and Akshay’s family and their growing bond with their increasing family issues that turn their dislike for each other to love. The story is about Indian politics, culture, family pressure and expectations, problems in marriage, love, prejudice, family drama, trust, and betrayal. The story is written in third-person narrative that switches fast between Gayatri, Akshay, Neelam, and Vikram but mainly follows Gayatri and Akshay. The setting of Delhi adds its own flavor to the story. There is lot going on at the same time but the main focus was on Gayatri and Vikram’s meetings, Vikram’s agenda, problems in Nandini and Amar’s marriage, and how Gayatri and Akshay’s view towards each other slowly change as they meet more for threats Gayatri is receiving at workplace and Nandini and Amar’s marriage issues. There are many characters and they all are realistic, some relatable, and intricately connected with each other. There is surprisingly more focus on Nandini and Amar’s marriage issues, politics, and power game than Gayatri and Akshay. It also gives lot do discuss in the book with many layers and themes making a simple looking story a little complicated. This is hate to love romance but that is sidetracked by themes and layers so I wouldn’t say romance is big part of the story. I wish Akshay and Gayatri had more chapters together. Why 4 stars- Like I said there isn’t many chapters with Akshay and Gayatri together. Even that Vikram got more space with Gayatri than Akshay. I would have liked more focus on them and would have liked to see how they convinced their family in the end. Overall, Best Intentions is captivating, dramatic, fast-paced and well written contemporary with many layers and themes. Many thanks to @blogchatter and @harpercollinsin for review copy. The Magic Mindset: How to Find Your Happy Place by Preeti Shenoy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) The Magic Mindset is self-help book about healthy and positive mindset and attitude towards different situations of life that help in dealing with problems we face not by looking at bright side but by accepting feelings, having positive attitude and hope, and how to change our outlook to keep hope. The best part of the book is the activities in each chapter. There is also 14 days challenge at the end of the book with activities to do daily and table to write our feelings after finishing the exercises. Another good thing, this can be read out of order. You can pick any chapter at any time and never feel you missed anything in the previous chapters as each chapter deals with different topics like– relationships, social media, money, health, education, family, past unpleasant memories, out of control situations, saying no, and other people’s actions that affect us. You can pick the topic you’re not happy about in life and read it first or any time in life. Why 4 stars- I really liked the book and some aspects but some points aren’t new or I haven’t known before and so this served as reminder for me. I might have found this more helpful when I was young as this is like a guide. Overall, The Magic Mindset is inspiring, motivating, relatable, and well-written self-help covering many topics and life situations with many tips and suggestions. QOTD - Which is your favorite self-help book? If you don’t read one what would you like to change in life or nature? QOTD - Which Sci-Fi series you enjoyed most or last series you loved? Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman @rocktheboatnews Obsidio is a thrilling rollercoaster ride and fantastic wrap up of The Illuminae Files trilogy that revolves around another two couples Asha and Rhys planning to save survivors and their own lives before BeiTech obliterates Kerenza; at the same time our four favorites- Kady, Eza, Hanna and Nik taking the survivors of Heimdall, Hypatia, Alexander back to Kerenza to take over Beitech’s jumpgate. The story is about justice, survival, courage, sacrifice, desperation and determination, conscience, ageism, the responsibility of war, love, betrayal, friendship, trust, and second chance. My most favorite part- Ella and Issac’s chats, Issac’s letter to all young characters, their last face to face conversations, execution of the plan that they kept super secret until this part and one by one the way they rolled their die and making them fall on their own term and shook the table if they didn’t fall in their own terms. There is Nothing negative I can think. If you’re fan of Space opera, I don’t know how you cannot love this book and series. Okay, I have one complaint. Why the hell there isn’t a spinoff series? Overall, Obsidio is thrilling, mindblowing, action packed, full of twists and turns, a perfect rollercoaster ride in space that I wish never ended. Check out points telling why you should read this in the image. “AIDAN: I HAVE NEWS THAT MAY BE CONSIDERED DISTRESSING. Many thanks to @prhinternational for free e-ARC via #NetGalley #PrhPartner Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter ⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5) 🔥🔥🔥/5 @berkleyromance Mr. Wrong Number is fun and entertaining romance that revolves around Olivia and Colin finding perfect Mr Wrong Number and Miss Misdial in each other. Olivia is fun. I liked her in first half of the book. She is lovely, smart, fun, and briliiant writer. But she is not a perfect person. She is judgemental towards Colin for almost whole book. Colin is most interesting. He is acts like Mr. Darcy and looks like Ryan Gosling. I definitely was going to like him more than Olivia. Chemistry is super hot with witty banter and enemies to lovers arc. Colin’s abs, smirks and winks didn’t just melt Olivia. I so so loved imagining him. There are few romantic scenes but for most of the books they are like friends with benefit as Olivia felt insecure to make it serious or label what they have and Colin went along to keep Olivia happy. A sure receipe for complex and dramatic romance. Why 3.5 stars- Last 30% of the book lost it’s charm. Many things happening here are unbelievable. End was not satisfying. Some things were left unresolved like Olivia's insecurity about turning their friends-to-benefit thing into serious relationship. they never talked about it. There is no exploration on Olivia writing parenting article as nonparent or Colin ghosting and how technology is changing relationships. My big issue is Olivia. Her lack of understanding Colin or listening him out, being constantly judgemental, and thinking very low of him, is grating and irritating. Overall, this is fun, entertaining, fast paced, and dramatic romcom with all right 𝙌𝙊𝙏𝘿 - 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚? QOTD- do you annotate books? What you usually highlight? I recently started annotating and tabbing books and i really enjoy it. I'm still not comfortable using marker or pen as I'm sure I'll mess the book, pencil is safe for me. I usually mark quotes, important or memorable scenes, turning points and write my thoughts in margin or at the end of chapter. Before I started tabbing, I was used to note page number at the end of the book. . . . . . #annotate #annotating #bookstagram #annotatedbooks #reading #books #annotatingbooks #annotations #booklover #writing #bookishlove #bookaddict #booknerd #read #bookishlife #annotation #instagram #book #underline #bookish #writinginbooks #bookgram #bookbloggerofig #readersofinstagram #indianbookblogger #eclecticreader #booksteacupandreviews #ilovereading #bookphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/CfoxjrmvSko/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Books I'm Reading This Week... I'm reading two books simultaneously. I usually read one book at a time but I need my comfort genre this week! Specially now after almost whole month of romance and contemporary books. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲 From that synopsis I get the feel of emotional contemporary read. I’m just few chapters in book and I like alternative Now and Before chapters. I’m already curious to know what happened between Percy and Sam that cause break up, what mistake Percy made and how they’re going to face each other again after 12 years. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗻 (𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄 #1) 𝗯𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 I read first 3 chapters this morning, I’m thrown into the Watford world, not sure about few things yet but Simon is already making me smile. Raybearer (Raybearer, #1) by Jordan Ifueko ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Here are 5 reasons to read Raybearer. 1. Gripping well structured plot, strong concept, lots of emotions and Setting of the palaces I loved the concept of a cursed child born to destroy the person she was taught to be loyal and grew to love. The plot is not just filled with amazing characters, world and twists, there is so much emotions, heart and soul in this book. 2. Many themes and layers The main theme of the story is Justice, revenge, belongingness and writing your own story without influence of any person. There are layers of family expectations, patriarchy, insecurity, curse, guilt complexion, loneliness, imperialism, political intrigue, trust, betrayal, manipulations, power, and greed. 3. Immersive detailed world World is imaginative, vivid, specularly rich and detailed world. There is so many elements in the world itself - Brilliant characterization and development; twelve realms have its own customs, religions, cultures, beliefs, and festivals ; concept of magic and Ray and how it works ; and Prince’s council. 4. Brilliant characterization and development Tarisai is my most favorite character. I loved Kirah, Sanjeet, and Dayo for believing in Tarisai, never losing hope in her. I also liked The Lady’s friends, especially Woo In who played interesting role. I hated The Lady and Emperor. 5. Perfect end That last couple of chapters are fantastic filled with lots of emotions, lost of surprises. There isn’t any cliffhanger but it left me hungry for next book. Overall, this is perfection. I highly recommend this book to all fans of YA / High Fantasy. #Currentlyreading The Beach Trap by Ali Brady. I'm enjoying this book so far. I loved the beginning with Black and Kat meeting at summer camp and finding out they are half sisters, so like parent trap movie but unlike movie the girls aren't happy about or at least Kat isn't and there creates misunderstanding, anger, hurt and guilt that they get chance to resolve 15 yrs later when their father dies who leaves the Beach House for both girls. But again they take it badly and are mostly fightin, making things complicated and difficult. I can't wait to see when they get over their ego and talk like adults and clear decade old misunderstanding. P. S. I'm not front of the camera person, more behind the camera person but I want change feed so I'm going to add myself in posts as often as I can from now on. QOTD - What are you reading? What you like most- books that makes you smile and laugh or weepy and emotional wreck? AOTD - I love and prefer happy books. Who doesn't love entertainment! Many thanks to @berkleyromance and publicist for free e-ARC. Set on You by Amy Lea ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5⭐) Set on You is fun and inspiring romcom that revolves around Crystal, a fitness instructor and Instagram influencer for curvy women who realizes self-love is a constant journey and having swolemate by her side makes that journey easier, happier, and more beautiful. The story is about acceptance, body respect, self-love, reality of social media, self-confidence, stereotypes, body shaming, friendship, family, and love. Best part of the book is theme and layers of the book. I loved Crystal’s Instagram posts. I loved what she said about body positivity in all her posts. It was amazing the way author showed reality of social media, even positive and inspiring things are attacked with negativity and that impacts the person behind the platform. I loved the way author represented body positivity and how it’s not just about body positivity but about self-acceptance, body respect and self-love, importance of staying focused on the journey of being healthy and strong not just focused on losing weight and measuring calories. It’s okay to feel bad and low sometimes as self-love is not a constant thing but a journey, there always will be ups and downs, and keeping loved ones and supporters close make this journey more lovely and beautiful. Romance is sexy, hot, and slow burn. Enemies to lovers trope, banter, and many sexy and tender moments make the chemistry sparkling.  It’s perfect but somehow it didn’t wow me. Overall, Set on You is fun, inspiring, feel good, refreshing, original and realistic romcom with fun moments and serious topics. QOTD - What are your favorite books with curvy/plus size heroine?
