QOTD - Which Sci-Fi series you enjoyed most or last series you loved? Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman @rocktheboatnews Obsidio is a thrilling rollercoaster ride and fantastic wrap up of The Illuminae Files trilogy that revolves around another two couples Asha and Rhys planning to save survivors and their own lives before BeiTech obliterates Kerenza; at the same time our four favorites- Kady, Eza, Hanna and Nik taking the survivors of Heimdall, Hypatia, Alexander back to Kerenza to take over Beitech’s jumpgate. The story is about justice, survival, courage, sacrifice, desperation and determination, conscience, ageism, the responsibility of war, love, betrayal, friendship, trust, and second chance. My most favorite part- Ella and Issac’s chats, Issac’s letter to all young characters, their last face to face conversations, execution of the plan that they kept super secret until this part and one by one the way they rolled their die and making them fall on their own term and shook the table if they didn’t fall in their own terms. There is Nothing negative I can think. If you’re fan of Space opera, I don’t know how you cannot love this book and series. Okay, I have one complaint. Why the hell there isn’t a spinoff series? Overall, Obsidio is thrilling, mindblowing, action packed, full of twists and turns, a perfect rollercoaster ride in space that I wish never ended. The Three Reasons I’m EXCITED for this Event

I’m excited to be in conversation with @amiekaufmanauthor about THE ISLES OF THE GODS @booksupstairs in Dublin on June 13, 6PM for many reasons. 1) Isles is a rollicking adventure that had the audacity to make me cry in the prologue, don’t talk to me about the blackbirds! 2) Books Upstairs on D’Olier St is our oldest independent bookshop and a marvel, I’ve only been there to buy books and accidentally throw sandwiches but now I’m to be let loose! 3) Amie, as well as being brilliant, is lovely. Last time I saw her I hugged her and said ‘See you in 6 months.’ Cancer and Covid lockdowns happened, and it’s been almost 6 years. Aurora’s End is the final book in the Aurora Cycle trilogy from Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. “Squad 312 has been scattered across the galaxy. The ancient evil called the Ra’haam is taking over planet after planet. The super weapon disappeared during the big battle. Is there one last chance for the team to save the universe?” It was nice to be back in the world of Squad 312 and the Aurora Legion. They made an interesting choice for this book. And it worked (no spoilers) You’ll understand the cover after reading this. The ending was not a cookie cutter ending which I like. You’re never sure who will make it to the end 😮 This cannot be read as a stand-alone - you need the full trilogy. There’s a good recap at the beginning to get you caught up from the 2nd book. The story does have a couple of slow parts but the ending is worth it.
