In Knives Out Blanc wanted to do the murder mystery investigation with Marta so bad, but she was certain she was guilty so she spent a good amount of the movie avoiding/hiding stuff from him

Meanwhile in Glass Onion Helen was fucking carrying the investigation, even while accidentally getting drunk, and even went to investigation lengths Blanc was hesitant to do

How hard is it to grasp that people regardless of skill and regardless of merit (which is subjective anyways) should not be harassed and intimidated into being censored for their use of problematic content? How stupid is it to say “you should be able to write whatever you want, and it’s not indicative of your morality, but only if your writing has worth ascribed to it by others!”

You are only allowed to be protected from harassment if you already have power. (Which I don’t know if it’s very obvious to these people, but society doesn’t exactly love being fair and giving power to women, minorities, queer people etc. so uh)

What separates that “creep who writes badly written incest fanfiction in the tumblr tags” who deserves to be censored from a romance novel that inevitably also gets taken off shelves for using incest as a plot line? Or are those authors also creeps who deserve to have their books pulled?

The idea that fandom is just a silly little hobby that has no value or importance is not only rude, it’s misogynistic. And it’s wrong. We’ve seen that radical feminists have used it along with other tactics to teach people their foundational understanding of activism and pipeline people into their cause. Ignoring this is just blatantly ignorant.

And lastly, is it really so hard to have a strand of moral consistency that extends to people and their works who are deemed worthless? These are the works that get purged first, the precedent for removing these works are considered valuable, that are important. And these will be the works they point to, to rile people into a reactionary frenzy and justify another round of censoring.
