wip review wednesday (it is not fucking wednesday)

rb the art im talking abt here to support me : )

i wanted to do something a lil new and actually talk through my choices in the artwork in the post so like if you're not here for commentary. i put everything under a read more!!!!

ok so here's a basic breakdown of what everyone is doing in the piece. or supposed to be doing. you can zoom in on shit to verify if u want

jamiazu: obviously jamil is beating azul at ddr. less obviously azul is sweating because this is actually not the first round of ddr. he has lost horribly in two other rounds but he's not giving up (he should give up)

tweels: they're both judging azul because they know he's horrible at cardio so what in the world is that boy doing on that dance machine. jade is making snide remarks about azul's lack of balance behind his hand and floyd's listening in amusement

adeucepel: epel just won an impossible amount of tickets at skeeball. apparently his aim is really good thanks to some carnival game in his home town. deuce is being excitedly supportive and helping him gather the tickets. ace is arguing that he should get a share because he totally helped epel score (he didn't)

rookvil: they're looking at the ticket prizes. vil is scrutinizing the cheap mass produced quality. rook is just happy to have his arm around her waist and equally happy to listen to her sharp criticism. shes so beautiful when shes annoyed♥️

diasomnia: silver is attempting to figure out the card machine in order to get a play card for malleus. malleus was not told that they were going to the arcade (hes definitely not dressed for it) but is honestly happy to just be there and is volunteering to try his hand at the machine (five seconds after this scene he will break it on accident). sebek is running over to yell at silver for not being able to figure out the card machine (he's also not able to figure it out). lilia is watching his kids from the inside of a ghostbusters shooter booth game. you know the ones

idikei: idia is destroying some zombies in a shooter game. cater is actually not playing. he's got his phone in his hand and he's just talking At idia while idia plays

ruggie: he's actually judging jamil. raising his eyebrows at jamil even bothering to play against azul who is clearly not even at his skill level. bro this is not even fair game

part of my art process for this piece was getting outfit suggestions from my friends so to everyone who complimented the outfit choices in the tags im pulling back the curtains. i have a million mice running around in my brain (my friends). here are some funny snippets (i did not put idia in a squid games shirt. i did give him crocs though)

(a mockup 4 an art idea i had in my head tht i'd like 2 draw in a more polished state 1 day if i can! depicting torahime right as hes abt 2 breakdown in ep 107 n more specifically, an idea tht it was actually him having his 1st charisma break tht we jus didnt get 2 witness due 2 the focus n budget being on the main charismatics)

every time I post a screenshot snippet I feel so embarrassed like damn I'm really just putting my unpolished writing on the dash in an absolutely huge blown up picture like sorry to all my followers for assaulting ur eyes with it

'homecoming' (wip title) is about what happens when a changeling child goes home. about reconnecting with childhood friends you left behind, end of life care for an aging guardian, being trans in your decaying hometown, etc. gonna be a decently large piece compared to other IF projects (i think cut them off was only 5k words?) but nowhere near as long as twfd (40k words). also working on it as a cleanser in the days up to gvh launch

am currently working on a neocities site (which i cannot give you the url for yet because im working on the css still and there's no content also it looks ugly still) and oh man does it take me back to ye olde days of custom theme editing on here. i still use a custom theme obvs but back in like 2014/2015ish when i was really into indie rp custom themes were all the rage and you would spend hours editing some character specific image for your bg and then another several hours trying to make the css line up with your image (never at any point did i attempt to actually like. learn html or css. i just read other people's theme codes and edited the parts i could understand and solved problems as they arose. i distinctly remember one time i was using a base that had two sidebars and i only wanted one and deleting the section broke the theme in disastrous ways [bc i had no idea what i was doing] so i literally just made all the elements in the sidebar transparent and moved them off the screen LMAO. the best i ever got was moving from fully built custom themes that i edited to base themes that i built off of)

anyway while im slightly better now (im even reading tutorials! am i following them? sorry i have to go i think someones calling me) i am using a layout builder to build the homepage so it is even more reminding me of mid-2010s tumblr. much like building off a base theme, and definitely easier to understand than tumblr theme building (this time i at least know what all the different pieces of code are doing, even when im not sure how or why, or how to duplicate the effect under slightly different circumstances. but progress is progress!).

a good but annoying thing about the layout that im using is that i havent actually edited the site wide stylesheet, just used internal css on that one page, so when i go to make literally any other page i'll have to start from scratch. this is good because i am learning a lot and i think without doing it this way i would end up with a bunch of useless stuff in the stylesheet that really should be page-specific that i would have to correct with internal or inline css later. annoying because what do you mean i have to make decisions about the sizing and positions of the content? i literally just did that

also im kind of nervous to touch the general stylesheet because im pretty sure what i'll actually want to do is have a couple of stylesheets for different 'sections' of the website, to maintain cohesion between pages of the 'same' type but still allow a lot of fun customization on a per-page basis, but that requires deciding what 'sections' i want on the website and that is a whole other can of worms. but also you can't start without starting so i should probably just try to build a really simple layout and go from there (after all, if it sucks, it's not like i can't just create a new stylesheet, or do the css for each page independently until i hit a groove that's actually worth moving to the stylesheet). but also first i have to finish this goddamn homepage. which means i gotta find a header image that doesn't look ugly as shit

Animal Jam Play Wild Diary Entries ~ ramble below ~

I was mysteriously given 6000 sapphires today and i have no idea why. Well. I'm extremely rich in ajpw because ive been deeply stingy for years so it doesn't matter much LOL but ive enjoyed myself today. I want to decorate the fantasy castle eventually, or many of the dens i got back in ~2015-2019 i never did a thing with 😅 Which is a shame for past me but a delight for present as den / home/ city decor is my favorite part of any sort of game. All other things are secondary . The moonlight manor depicted in some of these is my oldest den!! Its at least... (Counting) 7 or so years old now which is CRAZY! I have so much old stuff & many things i ended up trading away as i thought they were useless but i will never wrap my head around the trading system in play wild. Kids nowadays and their VIALS and DNA. Back in MY day we only had firefly friend & flower crowns... :/Anyway... I had fun today! Here are some photos from my escapades . I love being in mount shiveer its my favorite in how it looks in 3d its so glowy & lovely... I haven't played pw in a while so seeing a lot of the newness is like @_@?
