Peter: I can't believe you're trying to bash ‘The Time of The Gypsies! I mean, sure, it’s not Star Wars, but it is a masterpiece!

Tony:

Pepper: Kid’s right! We can’t keep watching only action and sci-fi flicks and listen to your incessant bashing of their tech inaccuracies!

Peter: And… That movie is incredible!

Tony: That movie made no sense! The only cool part was the damn turkey! And they cooked it!"

Peter: Pepper, I'm afraid there is no hope…

Pepper: Don't I know it, kid? Thank God I got you, now.

Tony: That’s it! Fri, play The Transporter! I need to cleanse my brain! And you two just lost your movie-picking privileges for the next three movie nights.

(I was talking about Miguel to a insta oomf and I'm back to yammering.)

Miguel O'Hara has an ofrenda. Not probably, but he just does. He remembers how he would sit Gabriella in his lap and explain the importance of the ofrenda, naming each and every family member by their belongings or photos. He never thought that he'd see Gabi’s photo up there too.

It wasn't right. It wasn't right at all - what father wants to see his lil girl's photo smiling back at him on a ofrenda? With shaky hands he places her hair ties and soccer jersey alongside her photo. He places her baby clothes next to her photo too, her favorite stuffed animal as a toddler, her soccer ball - he places even more photos up, he can't help himself.

He rubs her old soccer jersey between his fingers trying to find some resemblance to his daughter’s skin, trying to see that maybe if he blinks it'd be her instead in his arms. He lets his eyes water in the solace of his house, his lights off with only the candle light illuminating his face as he holds onto Gabi’s fuzzy baby clothes. They were so small, she was so small.

“I thought it was harmless.” He thinks. “I thought it was harmless, I thought it was harmless.” He repeats to himself as he walks to her grave with aching feet. This Gabriella has a grave, he couldn't even give the other one that luxury.

He feels himself go mental as he can't help but make another ofrenda for his other Gabi, right next to the one from his universe. He doesn't have anything of this Gabriella, just printed out photos of the videos he has. Videos where she's not even with him, just the man he wanted to be.

He never wanted to be Spiderman. He wasn't like Peter, Jess, Ben, Gwen, or Miles chasing after a normal life and the grandeur of Spiderman at the same time. He just wanted his Gabriella, su corazon.

“I thought it was harmless.” He repeats as he curls his hands into fists, his claws digging into his skin, not caring if he draws blood. Today, Gabriella would be fifteen - she'd have her quinceañera. He places her last doll and last shoes, his arms shaking as he wishes he could give her a last dance.

It was November 1st and Miguel wished his photo was up on the ofrenda instead.

#gender is soup #sci speaks #i'm so sorry i know you might hope for something profound but... i think when i'm put on the spot like this i can't say anything really #i think whatever i am is definitely pervasive in everything i write #but like.. gender means something different to wade than it does for peter.#just like it'll be different for everybody. we make different associations based on our experiences and our trauma.#like.. wade associates femininity with love. because of his mother. associates masculinity with violence. because of his father.#peter associates masculinity with responsibility. because of uncle ben. associates femininity with confidence. because of aunt may.#i think there's all kinds of reasons why we choose to present the way we do. and what gender means to us.#just like we'll associate a colour with something. or a smell with a memory. it's complicated.#i don't think i'm some kind of expert on gender things but... i just find it interesting to explore. the psychology of it.#i don't think it's supernatural. it doesn't come from nowhere. but it should be a playground.#i don't think anyone in this world should be restricted to a certain role to play. i want to try all the roles and see how it fits.#see how well i can play them.#maybe because i haven't found one that quite fits. so i want the opportunity to try whatever i can. see what feels right.#i think it would be fun to be a wife. i think it would be fun to be a husband. i think it would be fun to be a firefighter. i think it wo #shrugs. different outfits for every day. different roles to play.#today i'd like to try...#i think it's like kids learning how to be adults by playing pretend. by playing roles.#i'm learning more about myself and other people and fitting into the world by trying on different roles.#kids playing house. you be the mom. i'll be the dad. yadda yadda.#i still feel like a bit of a kid who hasn't figured out how to be an adult yet. so i'm still trying out roles to see what fits.

Yk it's not that I think Beverly Wouldn't choose to carry an accidental pregnancy to term, but I really wish Star Trek (and TV generally tbh) would just... raise abortion as an option? Could even do an emotional conversation about why she wanted to have another baby, I don't care, I'd just really like someone to at least ask "what made you decide to become a single mother again at this time in your life?" rather than continue the whole "woops we forgot to wear/inject/swallow/implant any birth control, guess the only choice is to have a baby!"

Do you think any of the families would've declared the kids legally dead? Besides Daniel. The ones that love the kids.

After a yr they could ask to have it made official. I'm sure the courts would agree that the chance of survival is so low that it's functionally nonexistent. But they were already halfway there. I'm sure they would've made it.

I'm just thinking about how weird it would be to get home and find out they'd had your funeral.
