it's been like a decade since I made a fan-DVD of a thing (something my teen pirate self used to do a lot for fun - and to preserve stuff I couldn't get in physical media legally - like anime that hadn't been brought over or shows whose soundtracks had to be mutilated for home release), and these days I'd want to make a blu-ray, and I don't have a blu-ray burner, so that's like... money I shouldn't spend.

But the idea of putting together a Complete Collection of Bee and Puppycat, with the original pilot, the original first season, the new Netflix remake, behind-the-scenes videos you can find from kickstarter and youtube, and maybe some fan videos (my fan Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs had so many AMVs as the "special features" lol) just sound really fun?

I don't even own a printer any more for making the box art and disc labels.

But, like the shows that I felt I had to make my own DVD versions of because the official release had to change the music or leave stuff out, even if Bee and Puppycat ever gets an official blu-ray set, given it's history I have a hard time believing it'll actually include everything.

This project has changed hands so many times and had such a messy production history, any official release is going to be incomplete.

Plus I used to love designing jackets and box art. That was the most fun part. Printing it out and putting it on the case. Making it look "real".

(And then inevitably seeing a fucking TYPO in your summary and being like GODDAMNIT but it's too much work to do over again so you leave it forever).

This isn't even a money saving thing at this point. Between needing the blank discs, the burner, the printer (I could probably borrow my mom's actually), the labels, the empty cases, (I think I might have software still that could make the menus and stuff, or there might be open source software, but I'd have to research and I might also end up needing to buy software)... I could spend over $200 without thinking about it, and I do not have $200. I do not have $20.

But it sounds funnnnnnnnn. And I would love looking at it on my shelf. Bee and Puppycat Blu Ray Collection. Ahhh. Goals.

I'll at least make sure to download high quality files of everything at some point soon and save them to my hard drive so I have them in case the streaming overlords decide to take it all away.

I don't feel so great right now. I feel pretty overwhelmed with work and everything. But I was a lot more productive today after work. And hopefully since I didn't take a nap right after work I will be able to fall asleep early. I think that would help how I feel.

I didn't sleep great last night. I woke up a lot and just didn't feel very great. I woke up at 715 like I was supposed to. And I felt so dizzy and tired. James was sitting on the couch with Sweetp and looked so cute.

James promised me breakfast so I got dressed and felt pretty good after we got food. I was tired and not 100% myself but I was a little better.

And work was fun. My group was really late. But it was whatever. Kaitlyn brought us donuts. And I helped her make some prints. People wanted to know about our honeymoon but I was a little to tried to really be "on". I tried but I wasn't all the way there.

There was some confusion once we got the kids inside but whatever. I got an all girl group and they were awesome. We did start a few minutes late but it was fine, and I would make the time up. And the girls had great questions and I was having a really good time. Even if I tripped on my words a little bit.

I did get really frustrated after my tour though because the other half of my tour, lead by another educator, was late. And the overlap cannery area chairs has another group hanging out in them and I was very frustrated. I texted Jessica that my coworkers are going to give me an ulcer. And because of all of this my cannery started very late but I did my best and it wasn't my best A but it was fun at least.

After my cannery we had lunch and I got my scavenger hunt set up and went to steal stickers from James. Ended up talking to a lovely musuem guest about being a musuem nerd and where else he should check in our. Me and James both recommended AVAM. I hope he went because it's such a cool place.

The kids did an excellent job at the scavenger hunt and two groups got prizes. And then it was time for them to go.

Once they were gone I went to the back to sit down and catch my breath. Eventually I would go hug James on their walk to their lunch break. And then I spent some time at the front desk talking to Meril. Showing her all the pictures from our trip. And it felt so nice to share that with someone. And she made me feel very heard and that was really nice. She had to deal with a very needy person on the phone but I was just laughing at the distressed faces she was making as she tried to get this person to understand she was saying "es" and not "us" like the person was insisting. Very silly.

I walked to the car with Kaitlyn. And the I headed to the dollar store to look for stuff for my market table. And I had pretty good luck. I decided I would put my bears in popcorn containers. And I think it looks so cute.

I went home and started setting up my table and it's not perfect but I'm really happy with it. I also figured out a way to use my mini printer to possibly do on the spot mini drawing commissions. And that was really exciting. I also decided to work on my new sign. So I found some wood to spray paint on the fire escape. And then I decided to go for a walk.

I needed to go to Walgreens and get a new eyeliner. And as I was leaving Mr Will was there and it was so nice to see him!! We talked for a little bit. And then James was home and I said goodbye and be back soon to both of them.

I would get my eyeliner and a new gel moisturizer. Some candy. And then home.

I would work more on my sign. Which I am not photographing yet but I think is looking so good. And then got to work on my pressed flower frames I wanted to make this week. I also got more work done sewing down my knit edges from my look piece. I felt super productive and that felt really good.

James made us pasta for dinner. And while it was good I don't understand why pasta sauce always tastes weird and nothing like when I was a kid. Even when I buy the same brand my mom did. It's all just watery and boring. Just sucks.butbthe garlic bread was nice.

I started getting really really cold. No idea why. I took a bath but it didn't help as much as I hoped. At least I was clean.

Now I am in my new hoodie and cuddled up with Sweetp. And James is here and playing Zelda. All I want is a snack and to go to sleep.

I am at the museum tomorrow. And I hope it's a good day. I have more market things to do but I also just want to rest. Fingers crossed that it works out how I want.

Connor Murphy x Reader: Dear Other Hansen: Part 1

It was the first day of your senior year and your mom was giving the same speech to you and Evan that she gave every year. Growing up twins you shared everything: your anxiety, your interest in nature, your love-hate relationship with Jared, and your clear disdain for this speech. 'This year would be different, it's a new start- a clean slate. She's so proud of you already.'

"Oh and Evan, (Y/N)? I made you an appointment with for today, I'll come buy and pick you guys up after school. Make sure you guys have letters to yourself, the doctor expects you to have some." 

"We have an appointment for next week though, mom?" Evan questioned, worried that he overestimated the amount of time he could put off writing his letter.

"I thought you could use something a little sooner. I love you guys! Have a good first day, and remember if you guys need anything at all, call me. Bye," with that she was out the door.

Evan looked to you, and then down at his hands. "(Y/N), I still haven't written anything..."

"I know," you sighed, running your hands through your hair, "I haven't either. We were supposed to have another week." Procrastination. That was another trait you shared. You were well aware that it would only make the task at hand more daunting, but sometimes it was just more convenient to watch TV than do work.

"And we still have to take the bus. It's our senior year, and we're the only seniors who still have to ride the bus. Everyone is going to think we're losers."

"...What if we just walk?" You suggested, to which Evan responded to by nodding vigorously. You grabbed your stuff and the two of you began walking.

It was warm outside, but cloudy. Evan and you were talking about the normal stuff. He was talking about working at the park, and you were talking about hanging out with Zoe- another thing you had in common- who you had befriended one day at the mall at the beginning of the summer. You had been at American Eagle, trying to find the perfect outfit to boost your confidence. Zoe had seen you, said hi, and proceeded to help choose the cutest outfit you had ever seen. Ever since then, Zoe and you were good friends. Evan always loved hearing you talk about her, because he felt like he knew her better when you did. 

Finally, you arrived at school. Evan walked over to talk with Alana and then Jared, trying aimlessly to get them to sign his cast. Zoe had came over to you as soon as she saw you arrive to school, upset about the morning she had "-and then he finished the milk! Dry cereal was not how I wanted to start my first day back."

"Maybe he's just on his man period?" You didn't want to admit it, but Connor always intrigued you. He never looked like he was the same guy who Zoe complained about, or the rumors that spread across the school. He just looked out-of-place, which is how you felt most of the time. He didn’t look like he could be that much of a dick. Back in grade school, you had been in bed with the flu when Connor presumably threw a printer. After hearing little Evan cry for three hours after school about it- not because he was scared or even angry- because the teacher was printing out a coloring page for him, and he never got it. 

"Then he would have been menstruating since he was twelve-" Zoe was interrupted by hearing Connor yelling. She turned the corner to see him screaming at Evan and Jared scurrying off. "Oh no."

"Why are you laughing? Stop fucking laughing! I'm not the freak! You're the fucking freak!" Connor pushed Evan down and ran off sulking.

Zoe and you rushed over to Evan to make sure he was okay. You'd talked to her enough about Evan for her to know that he wasn't going to take this well. You were freaking out, both worried about Evan and horrified that he had already been pushed on the first day. The bell rung and Zoe went her separate way, while Evan rambled on, "-and then she introduced herself to me! Did you see that? It was so magical. Well, it would have been if I hadn't screwed it up."

"You'll be okay Evan. She's a sweet girl, she's not going to judge you. Especially since Connor was involved. What class do you have?"

"Stats, what about you?"

"English, see you at lunch or something?" You hugged Evan as tight as you could headed to class.

When you arrived to class, you took a seat in the back corner, relieved that you were in your favorite teacher’s class this year. Mr. Sinclair was half way done with the syllabus when Connor Murphy walked in. He walked to the back of the class room, but there were only two seats left. One by the captain of the football team, Derek, and the other next to you. He choose to sit next to you.

Not long after Mr. Sinclair was done with the syllabus, he announced that there would be a group project. “Your partners will be your table buddies. You will choose a book, and make a project on it. I emailed the requirements, but keep in mind that the books need to be appropriate. Derek you can join whatever group you.”  Mr. Sinclair then let everyone start working on the project. You were sitting with your hands cupped on the desk, staring down at them. You didn't know what to do. Sure, you'd seen Connor around at the Murphy's house, but he never really said anything more than the greetings his mom forced him to say. Other than that, all you knew about him were the rumors, what Zoe said about him, and that he'd hurt Evan earlier that day.

"(Y/N), right?" A voice snapped you out of your thoughts. You nodded, recognizing it as Connor's voice. "You're related to the kid with the cast and the polo?"

"-Evan, he's my twin." You didn't know why he was asking this. You’d been in the same grade level and classes as Connor since kindergarten, and even if you never personally spoke to Connor, you were sure he already knew these things.

"So you're going to go ask if we can just separate projects," You couldn't tell if this was a question or a command. "I mean, you're brother thinks I'm a freak, so why would you want to do a project with me."

"Evan does not think that, I promise."

Connor's voice got louder, "Yeah? Then why was he fucking laughing at me with Kleinman earlier?"

Your heart began race, and you began stuttering. Your face must have shown traces of anxiety because Connor's angry gaze softened slightly. He reached his hand toward your hand, but he was blocked by a figure.

“What do you think you’re doing, Murphy?” 

“Go away Derek.” The same amount Connor’s eye softened at the sight of your anxiety, they hardened when he saw Derek. 

“Were you going to hurt her?”

“Go. Away. Derek.”

“No can do. I’ve decided to be (Y/N)’s partner.” Derek slung his arm around your shoulders as you stiffened.

Connor was visibly getting more annoyed by the minute, “That would mean that your my partner too, go find a different set of partners.”

“Babycakes wants me here.” A smirk spread across his face. You were growing more uncomfortable, and were silenced by shock and disgust.  “No, she doesn’t. Neither do I, so don’t make me-”

“Make you do what? I’ve already decided. (Y/N), call me when you want to meet up for the project, sweetie.” Your face grew ten shades of red as you involuntarily grabbed onto Connor’s arm and scooted closer to him. Connor took one look at your shaky, nervous frame and lunged into action.

Connor drove his fist into Derek’s face, and Derek did the same. It was a blur as you gaped at the two men fighting, feeling a panic attack coming on, and before you knew it they were being pulled apart by Mr. Sinclair and two other teachers who had been called in. The teachers escorted Connor and Derek to the office. Mr. Sinclair pulled you outside the classroom and sat with you until your panic died down, “Are you okay, Ms. Hansen?” You nodded. “Did Mr. Murphy hurt you?” 

It took a moment to process what he said. “Connor didn’t do anything, Mr. Sinclair. Derek was making some,” you sighed, “comments about me that made me feel creeped out. I think Connor saw I was uncomfortable and tried to defend me.” 

Mr. Sinclair pinched the bridge of his nose. “Ms. Hansen, if what your saying is true, we need to get you down to the office so they don’t blame this on Connor.” Mr. Sinclair took you to the office just as the principal was getting ready to suspend Connor and release Derek. Mr. Sinclair reiterated what you had told him, and you confirmed it. Derek protested, trying to say that you were making it up.

“Very well,” the principal raised his hand to stop Derek, “Ms. Hansen has never given me any reason to not believe her. That, and last year three students came forward about you, Derek. I’m afraid I have no choice but to suspend you for a week and put you on probation from football until further notice. Connor, I’m going to let you off with a warning, and send you home for the rest of the day. Tomorrow, I will trust that you will not do this again, or you will be suspended.” Connor shook his head, and left without another word.

Freelancer, that’s… that’s really nice of you to say. I’m honored that you have so much faith in me, especially with how abrasive I was when we first met. Your courage and openness inspire me more than you’d ever know. To see what you’ve done with just a year under your belt? Makes me so excited to see what you’ll do next. And magical stuff aside, your ability to always look on the bright side and connect with people is something I envy. You have a gift and you use it to help everyone around you. It’s really amazing. That means a lot to me that you’d say that. Like, so much. I guess you never really know how much you need to hear something like that until someone says it to you. Thank you. You don’t need to do anything other than, I don’t know, exactly what you’re doing. Being here. Being with me. You’re like this light that reminds me to look up every once and while. I think sometimes I get caught in a loop, thinking that if I look up, then I’ll just be that much more behind when I get back to my work, and I promise myself I’ll relax as soon as I’m done with what I’m doing, but then there’s always something else to do, so I keep looking down and keep putting off relaxing. But with you, I don’t know, you snap me out of that pattern without even trying.

I mean...he drove before and we didn't get into any accidents. He was pretty good, he stayed around the speed limit and didn't run any lights. I don't know if he has a license...how does that work for demons anyway? It's not like he can go to the DMV, I doubt he has a birth certificate. He's getting better at using the microwave. He's actually better at using the oven and stove than the microwave for some reason. He only burned the jiffy pop a little bit. Oh, you don't have to worry about the cost, I get the ink refilled at this little place in town so it's not as expensive as getting brand new cartridges. I do, at least my favorite ones. I have some photo albums.

You drove with him and you don’t even know if he has a license? That is even worse than trying to eat rifted pizza! Yeah, he can’t go to the DMV, but I’m pretty sure he could register with D.U.M.P. or something. He can’t just decide one to get in a car and drive. That’d be madness! Oh, he’s “getting better” at the microwave. Not from what I saw at Thanksgiving, Freelancer. He literally took the top off of a pan I was starting to boil water in for the potatoes and started stirring it, saying that the movement would help it boil faster. And I’m supposed to trust Gavin with a car. I’ll walk, thank you very much. Oh, that’s so cool you can get the cartridges refilled. Probably helps with cutting down on waste, too. I think I’ll look into that feature when I buy my new printer. My other one was so old you couldn’t do that, because of the kind of ink it needed. Cool. I’d love to check out your photo albums, next time we’ve got some time to look through them together and have you tell me who is who.

You’re still on that kick!? Ugh. Fine, fine! You can call me Damie, but ONLY when we’re alone and ONLY every now and again. If you do that in front of anyone, even in our group chat, than that offer is off the table and you’ll have a lot more to worry about than some burned Jiffypop or a pencil. Oh, my dad’s the worst with technology. He barely knows how to make a call, let alone receive a picture. My mom struggles, but at least she tries to understand what she’s doing. Yeah, he was totally bragging about you, saying how you took to telepathy so easily, how you had such a good hold on your mind, made it easy for him to share a channel between you. He was going on and on about it!

Well, I get up early to work out most days, so I might as well stay in that habit when I’m on a rest day and use the time to go to the store. Hmm, I’ll have to remember that for another time. What if you used semi-sweet chocolate? Do you think it would work the same?

I can so see you being the dean. You've already shown me how detailed your planning skills are. You're tough but you're fair. You don't make assumptions based on what a person is. I think that's what D.A.M.N. needs, someone who can help unite the students, regardless of what magical race they are. We're stronger when we work together rather than separating ourselves, right?

Well, there’s a lot of stuff to do before I’d ever be able to do that, but you’re right. We need to undo some of the policies that encourage these stereotypes and we need to root out the ancient professors who hold those types of beliefs and subtly base their classes on them. It’s not fair that people have to consider who teaches a class as to whether or not they take it. And yeah, I know students and good counselors like Lasko help students navigate those challenges, but that shouldn’t even be a concern. We need more training to help staff work against those biases and we need policies that allow students to report such behavior and reprimand staff who don’t succeed. And worst of all, a lot of humanborn or other marginalized students don’t have the background to realize what’s happening until it’s too late to change the class. People should enroll in courses because of academic goals and requirements, not because there is only one healing class available that doesn’t leave behind shifters or fail them because they need more help externalizing their magic because of the way the magic is distributed in their body. All that does is prevent shifters from learning important skills like healing, thereby perpetuating the idea that shifters CAN’T heal, which is bullshit. I hope Lasko is helping you with that sort of stuff. But… Anyway. I’d hate to get on that tangent. You’ve indulged me on that soapbox quite enough.

Oh, um...you really...feel that way? Wow, Damien...I...I really don't know what to say but...thank you. I don't know if I really believe it but it...it really means a lot coming from you. Ehhh, we only live once, why not have some fun doing it? Nothing bad happened so it's fine. Damien...I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I'm pretty sure Gavin was just fucking around with you. He's pretty good in the kitchen, we baked a cake together and it turned out really good! I'll send you the address for the shop, the owner is really nice and I like sending people their way. Do they ask you for advice a lot with technology? I used to have to figure out what my grandpa did to the TV when he was fiddling with the remote when I was a kid. Oh, really? He really said that? Wow, that's so sweet of him...

Oh, yeah, any kind of chocolate chips would work. I bet you could use those butterscotch ones if you really wanted to. Or you could drizzle white or dark chocolate once you coat them? I like to add those soft sprinkles for color if I'm making them for an special occasion.

Your mom was actually warning me about a professor, I emailed Lasko and asked him if he'd be able to get me a different professor. As much as I'd like to prove some asshat wrong, I'd rather not deal with the stress. ...Professors have failed shifters because they needed more guidance? That's not right at all! They can't help how magic works in their body. I'd say hopefully the younger generations would be more open but...it's so easy for that kind of mindset and prejudice to trickle down and infect others.

You don't have to apologize, Damien, I enjoy listening to you, soapbox or not. You open my eyes to so many issues that I don't know about or didn't think of. I really appreciate your insight. But, we can definitely keep talking over food!

Will We Be Friends When We Grow Old?

More detailed plot summary: Tsugumi helps to comfort Shoka about the loss of Ayano, as they hold a memorial for her. This fic is mainly platonic. Though some slight one-sided shipping ended up in here (Tsugumi towards Shoka), but it’s blink and you miss it and you can still choose to see it as platonic. Also, RindoShoka and Neku and background someone. For me, it’s Shiki. But I didn’t specify, and you could maybe imagine it as someone else. Tsugumi’s PoV. Oneshot. Canon compliant

Tsugumi had only been in Shinjuku again for a few weeks—trying to figure out how they could bring it back from the brink, and have it be shiny and new again—when she got a call from Shoka, begging her to come back to Shibuya for a bit, because she needed someone with her who could understand the crippling loss of Ayano and be there for a memorial.

And while this was a tiny bit inconvenient—because Kaie had electronics mapped to Tsugumi’s head right now, in thinking maybe her visions of Shinjuku could help to create it, and then they could use something like a 3D printer to recreate it... after they made one that strong—Tsugumi knew that she would happily tell her friend Kaie to wait a little longer on this, so she could go comfort Shoka.

After all, how long had she been trapped in her Mr. Mew doll because of that bastard Kubo, before Shiki’s kind soul had wrestled her out of it? So, Tsugumi thought she could wait longer for her home to surface from the seas again, too.

Especially since Tsugumi knew it had to be hard for Shoka right now, without her old family. She had the Wicked Twisters... and while Tsugumi was sure they were trying their best to help soothe Shoka’s pain about Ayano’s erasure, it probably wouldn’t mean as much as someone doing the same who understood the loss themselves.

So, Tsugumi delicately removed the wires from her head, texted Shoka that she'd be there in a jiffy, and then looked to Kaie, who was definitely looking at her questioningly right now.

"Sorry, Kaie," Tsugumi reassured her dear friend, as she patted his hand. "Can this wait for a week? I want Shinjuku back as soon as you do. I swear. But Shoka needs me. It seems she's having a memorial service for Ayano, and needs the support. I'll be back in a week, okay?"

'That's fine', Kairi texted Tsugumi near instantly, once her words had seemed to reach his ears. 'Be sure to give Shoka my best.'

And Tsugumi smiled at Kaie even brighter now, because something about hearing him care about Shoka was aligning her soul, when a part of her had been afraid that her Shinjuku family would never reconnect with Shoka again. But clearly she needn't have worried. And that was a very beautiful thing, indeed.

"Don't worry!" she promised Kaie, her hand on her heart. "I will."

It didn't take Tsugumi too long to get back to Shibuya with her Reaper wings.

And one of the first things she saw when she arrived there, was Shoka and Rindo leaving 104... and Shoka wearing white clothes, of all things! Rindo was wearing all white, too.

And though it took Tsugumi a second to guess why, she did eventually figure out the reason. Shoka liked this one book series called "The Mortal Instruments", and in that, the characters with special powers—the Shadowhunters—wore white to funerals, instead of black. And Shoka must have been doing that here, since she usually wore black, and must have gotten Rindo to go along with that, as well... even though he usually seemed to wear a lot of white, from what Tsugumi had seen, he was wearing nothing but it now. And Tsugumi knew she would have to do the same thing.

"Shoka, it's so good to see you!" Tsugumi exclaimed as soon as she found her voice, running up to her surrogate sister and giving her a hug. "And I'm so sorry that I didn't think about that leaving you here alone, would mean leaving you to deal with the loss of Ayano alone. But I'm here now. And since here funeral is going to be ‘City of Bones’ themed... I can get the instrumental for for 'When the Darkness Comes' to sing, if you want."

"Thank you so much, Tsugumi!" Shoka cried, pulling Tsugumi only tighter into her arms. And Tsugumi was completely happy to be there, as she stroked Shoka’s hair and took in the sweet smell of Shoka’s raspberry scented perfume once again. “That sounds great. I'm so glad you're here, Tsugumi! And I'm so glad to see you again!" And Shoka kissed Tsugumi on the cheek then, leaving a stain of red lipstick there for the moment... until Tsugumi had to sort of awkwardly wipe it off (though maybe it actually wasn’t too awkward for Tsugumi at all).

And speaking of awkward, it was clear that Rindo felt that way right now. And Tsugumi wondered if he was second-guessing his place as Shoka's best friend at the moment.

But he was definitely that, Tsugumi was ashamed to say. Because the “The Mortal Instruments” was one of the few things Tsugumi knew about Shoka lately, since she'd been so focused on saving Shinjuku, she’d let her fall through the cracks. And how she desperately regretted that.

"I don't know if it's gonna be much of a funeral," Rindo explained to Tsugumi now, maybe thinking it was best that she got all the detes? "I asked Shoka if she wanted one for Ayano, and told her my mom could help pay for it and everything. But she said she'd rather just have a short vigil at Miyashita Park, where we can leave tributes to her. Though I'm sure you could sing during it, if you'd like."

"Thank you," Tsugumi told Mr. Twister, looking at him with her eyes shining. She thought it was pretty sweet, that even though the event would be short, he would make time for his former enemy to sing, if she would wish it. Tsugumi might have even started fangirling over him then, as much as she did Lord Ishimoto, if she hadn't realized then that she might be too choked up to sing. Because she was still heartbroken up about Ayano, too. And thoughts of her, often brought on thoughts of Big Su, that would really start up the waterworks in her...

"So, were we planning on going right now, then?" Tsugumi asked. But it was pretty obvious by the way that Shoka and Rindo were dressed, that that was the case. "Wow. I made it just in time, then!"

"I would have done it a second time with you, if you'd been late," Shoka assured Tsugumi, taking her hand. "And I'll do the same for Shiba, Kaie, and even Hishima, whenever they get their asses up here."

At this point, Rindo had pretty much disappeared into the scenery of 104, the poor kid—Tsugumi did feel bad about leaving him out, she wasn't trying to, but this sort of was a moment for her and Shoka right now—but thankfully, Neku, Fret... and some prissy looking kid seemed to be showing up for him, and Shoka, too, to keep him occupied.

"Kaie told me to send you his love," Tsugumi promised Shoka, squeezing her hands. "And I'm sure he'll be down right after I am. And Shiba and Hishima care, too. You know them, Shoka. They really do, deep down, as do I. And I'm so sorry if I ever made that unclear. But they might wait until Shinjuku is in some proper form again, before they stop by. But I know they will. And you could always come visit us, you know! In fact, please do, Shoka. Please?! With sugar on top!

"Anyway, let me go to 104 and buy some all-white clothes, and then we can get this solemn show on the road!"

And Tsugumi did just that.

They ended up getting forget-me-nots for Ayano, to let her know she would never be forgotten. And since, sadly, the fact she had never forgotten Shinjuku was part of the reason she could never embrace Shibuya, Shoka had let Tsugumi know. And even Blue Pepsi, since she loved the beverage and it somewhat matched her favorite shirt, and the Maximum Ride book series, since there was a character named "Iggy" in there, like her iguana.

And Shoka left her her Mr. Mew hoodie, thinking that maybe Ayano would like to have it, and might understand her love for Gatto Nero now, wherever her soul pieces were.

And Tsugumi did sing for her, though she broke key once, as the tears overwhelmed her... but Neku had chimed right in then, and had covered it up and no one had heard anything wrong. And if Neku hadn’t already been in a committed relationship, Tsugumi could have kissed him for it.

A girl named Rhyme had a few adages to say... as did Nagi say some very wise things over their gathered items.

And Fret bought a long scarf to tie off a part of Miyashita Park with all of the stuff here, so no one would mess with it for a while. Rindo had helped Fret do that (and had then gone back to holding Shoka). Rindo was also largely responsible for all of this, Tsugumi knew, so she definitely knew he was going to be on her Christmas list from now on.

Shiki had looked rather pained when Rindo and Fret had stretched the scarf so thinly, though—as if expecting it to rip right away—and had already broke out her needle and thread, and might have been creeping closer and closer to it as she eyed it...

And then Beat banged a small drum at the end of it all, to then try and make them all feel better—which was much appreciated, because Tsugumi didn't know if she liked where Joshua was so intently watching where Ayano had apparently fallen—as he told everyone that Ayano wouldn't want them to grieve... Shoka and Tsugumi, anyway.

And it was truly an event to remember. And Tsugumi knew that she would for as long as she existed in her non-life.

She even had new friends now, that she hadn't counted on at all when she'd started this venture here.

She'd thought she'd stay jealous of them and not fully understand why Shoka had left her family.

But now Tsugumi was hugging Shoka goodbye and promising she'd visit Shibuya and the Twisters again soon... though still making sure to try and needle Shoka into visiting Shinjuku, too.

"It's been great, Shoka. See you soon, dark girl," Tsugumi teased, running her hands up and down the lady's arms, as she did so.

And she could pretty much hear Shoka smirk—or perhaps purr—as she shot back with lips and teeth against Tsugumi's cheek, "And see you soon, light girl."

And then Tsugumi's visit to Shibuya turned out better than even Shiba could have guessed when he'd been the Executor.

Because by a literal miracle... spilling into Shoka's apartment, to hug them both now—as all three sobbed, and made promises to hold onto each other and never act so foolishly again—was Ayano.

Author’s Note: The ending with Ayano coming back is super cheesy, I know. And I sort of hate to write it. But when I had Joshua at the memorial too, I knew it had to happen.

This will be the one TWEWY story I write, that sort of cheapens death. The anime soften TWEWY’s blows by bringing Nao and Sota and Def March back to life (which I appreciated, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think they were brought back in the game. And I get why they weren’t: to not cheapen death). So, this will be the one where I soften Neo’s blows, I guess.

Oh, and the title is a lyric from the song “End of the Line” by Christi Mac, which is pretty good. I couldn’t think of anything else to name it, so I went with that. -shrugs-

And, yes. I do think Tsugumi ended up with one-sided feelings for Shoka in this. I didn’t intend this when I wrote it, but it just happened… which is sort of what gave birth to my theory on Tumblr, about me wondering if maybe Tsugumi was actually beta!Rindo. And I believe that now, but it’s just a game theory, as MatPat would say. But anyway, you guys can also gladly ignore those one-sided feelings that sort of crept up in here, if you want, and see this all as platonic as it was meant to be, if you want! Or not! Whatever floats your boat!

And while I wanted to write something for Shoka and Tsugumi—because the game hinted at their friendship, but then didn’t do much with it—someone on Tumblr actually responded to my post about that and gave me the idea to have Tsugumi help Shoka deal with the loss of Ayano. But now I can’t find the commenter. But shoutout to them. If it was you and you’re reading this—or anyone here knows who it was—let me know, so I can give credit where credit is due!

"Tokyo is big compared to Miyagi"

It was the first thing Yachi thought of when she and her mother left the train station.

They arrived in a quiet neighborhood away from the noisy city, she has never been in a house, since she was born she has always lived in the same apartment.

She went to her room to leave her suitcase and backpack, and came down when she heard her mother calling her.

-Hitoka, I'm going to arrange some papers for the house and the rest of the things, I'll be back in the afternoon, if you want you can start putting things in order for the move.

Before she could answer, her mother went out the door and she began to take the boxes to their respective rooms.

She started with her room:

First she took her clothes out of the suitcase and put them on the bed, put her dresses, skirts and jackets on hangers. Then she kept the rest in separate drawers, long-sleeved shirts on one side, short-sleeved shirts on the other, jeans on the other...

The second thing was her bags, purses and backpacks, she kept them on the floor of the closet except for her high school backpack, which was the same one she used for the junior high school. 

The third thing was his drawing things, he put his notebooks and books in the last drawer on the left side of the desk, in the second one he put all his paints, crayons, colored pencils... and in the first drawer he put his graphic tablet and tablet with keyboard.

The next thing was his study stuff, in the first drawer on the right he left his case and his agenda, in the second drawer he left his notebooks and summaries, and in the third drawer his material for works and projects.

On the desk top she left her laptop, pencil jars with markers, colors, pencils and pens, sticky notes, a huge pencil sharpener, a box with cat-shaped erasers, another box with paper clips, a stapler, a study lamp, a notebook for personal notes and a box with candy and cookies. Next to the desk there was a small shelf with the printer on top, last on the floor a trash can. 

Between her closet and dresser was a table with a mirror and on the table she left a jewelry box with her bracelets, earrings, necklaces and a watch she only uses for school, a hairbrush, a box with hair clips and erasers, a perfume with the smell of freshly baked cake and some makeup.

She made her bed and on the bedside table she put a lamp, the cell phone charger and her headphones, on the five-shelf shelf next to her bed:

In the first photo and albums, in the second reading book, the third one he would leave it for his high school books and notebooks, the fourth one he would leave it free to put his new uniform and in the fifth one he put his high school backpack and the bag for his clothes, finally he left his suitcase under his bed.

When she finished, she took her two boxes with things for the bathroom and began to tidy up, put the bath products and the oral hygiene products on the shelves along with the towels, and hung a towel next to the shower to dry off.

When he finished tidying up his two personal places in the house he went downstairs to tidy up the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.

When she finished it was eight o'clock in the evening, her mother sent a message that she would arrive at nine o'clock, Yachi had an hour to prepare dinner so she took her cell phone and her wallet, put on her shoes and went out to look for a supermarket.

She found one in her neighborhood, took what she needed for dinner tonight:

A package of noodles and some vegetables to go with it, she took a package of fish and rice, there was only one thing left to drink. She went to the aisle and there she met a boy her age, picking up sweets while receiving many messages.

When she had everything she craved some strawberry Pocky, but for a few inches she couldn't get it, when she was about to leave the hallway she heard a voice.

-I'm sorry, do you need help?

When she turned around she saw the boy from before holding the box of Pocky that she tried to take.

I make a US$66,000 salary, which is pretty decent for where I live. I saved $7,000 to move to a new state, rent a one-bedroom apartment and live alone for the first time. When I moved into this apartment in May, I told myself that minimalism would help me stay on-budget. With that in mind, I splurged on the essential things that I knew would make me feel more at home and establish new routines — nice new cookware, a Fellow digital kettle, a Thuma bed frame that Instagram convinced me I needed...and because I was coming from San Francisco, where the cost of living is completely insane and nothing is reasonably priced, suddenly I could afford anything I wanted with no problem! I adopted a rescue cat, installed bookshelves, bought my first “smart home” thing (an Alexa Dot speaker) and some Philips Hue smart lights I could control with my voice. Fancy! Oh, wait...wasn’t I supposed to be “minimalist?”

Please note, my dear, probably nonexistent reader, that it doesn’t end there. As I began to fill out my apartment, every new addition inspired another. I have a smart home assistant now, so shouldn’t I have more than one Smart Thing to connect it to? I bought a smart TV. But my apartment is a bit small, so I should hang the TV on the wall to save space! I bought a TV mount. Oh, and my Redbubble side business will be easier to launch if I have a scanner...but here’s a scanner-printer combo that’s also Alexa-capable! Obviously that’s the more optimized choice. But now I need a place to put it...time to install more shelves! While I’m at it, I’m working full-time and going back to school next month, so I should put some effort into getting organized...time to hit up Container Store? All the while, I continued to voraciously consume the local pillow market. Bed pillows, throw pillows, floor pillows, body pillows...so many pillows! So much comfort!

This is my problem. That $7,000 ran out months ago. The phrase “I should look at my budget” only enters my brain the day before payday, and no other day. I paid for the essential furniture with my debit card using money I already had, but by the time I got to the “throw pillow” circle of hell, I was using “buy now pay later” services like Klarna and Affirm. On pillows. Pillows! I realized my TV was purchased through a lease-to-own business for twice its value over a week after it had been delivered to my home. 

For the amount of money that I earn, I shouldn’t even need to think about these sorts of services. Back when I was actually struggling I used my upbringing as an excuse for why I’m living paycheck to paycheck; my mom wasn’t great with money either, and she didn’t like her “little girl” going outside on her own, so I wasn’t allowed to get a job in my teens. She died when I was still in high school, and I was wholly unprepared to fend for myself or participate in the economy. I wallowed in a painful period of underemployment, couchsurfing, and struggling to put myself through college, but I “picked myself up by my bootstraps” as well as I could, eventually dropping out of college to take an internship that turned into a lucrative job. As soon as I was getting paid enough to furnish the comforts I never had as a child, I dove right into late-stage capitalism and never looked back.

At 30 years old, that look back is way overdue. I’m going back to school — which costs money. I have a (cat) son now and would love to adopt a dog soon, both of whom will costs lots of money to keep healthy and happy. I have a therapist, who is worth every penny, but good god does she cost money. I don’t buy things I don’t value, or keep things I don’t use; I can look around my apartment and tell you what everything cost me and why I have it. I spent so much of my energy in COVID making this place as perfect, as functional, as OpTiMiZeD as possible, and I regret nothing! 

That’s the problem. All of this stuff is necessary, sure, but the timing wasn’t. I needed a printer a month from now, so why did I overdraft my debit card to get it last week? Why did I agree to adopt the cat without at least some savings to back me up in case of an emergency? I mean, shit...what about my own health? I am lucky enough to have a health savings account...with nothing in it, because I keep withdrawing money. Why do I feel such an urgent need every payday to drive my account balance back to zero in the name of “optimization?” Spending all of my money on Friday makes it impossible for me to be in my friends’ lives the next Wednesday. What’s more, I need to save money for a computer this year, and I want to buy a car next year. If I logically understand why I should save my money, why can’t I do it? What is keeping me in this ongoing loop of “optimizing” my space when saving would help me optimize my life and overall happiness?

I started this blog to chronicle my journey through compulsive shopping, retail therapy, and overspending in hopes that I can find other people who have started from the bottom of financial literacy, like me, and lived to tell the tale. On that day you really didn’t know what went through Cassie’s head. What kid uses that much paper to try and draw an ant? You were lying to yourself if you said that the man wasn’t charming, he was. He just seemed so endearing, and you were happy that when he walked you to your car he didn’t try to make a move. “Hi Miss L/N!” Cassie exclaimed innocently, pushing the smugness that her daddy’s plan was working.

You couldn’t help it, but you gave in without hesitation. “Sure.” You couldn’t stop yourself, the girl was too cute. Besides, you needed to get out more, and it wouldn’t hurt to go out with Bucky if Cassie was a buffer.

“Wait what?” Bucky exclaimed as he looked between the two girls. Was it really that easy?

You raised an eyebrow at the man, “Well I guess I won’t go then.”

“Wait what? No, no, I was just surprised that uh...These printers sure are cheap!” Bucky said as he raised the printer box with a smile. It was 250 dollars. Lucky for him, it was going on Tony’s credit card.

“Uh huh.” you said with a smirk as you eyed him. What a strange guy.

“So you’re going?” Cassie said with a smile.

“Sure, your dad and I will exchange number and you guys can pick me up.” you said as you took out your phone to get Bucky’s number.

And so the two of you got each other’s numbers, and departed at the checkout line. You buying more construction paper, and Bucky buying a definitely not cheap printer with a giggling Cassie.

Two days later, Cassie skipped around the Avengers, clad in Giants gear head from toe, with Scott trailing behind her, singing, “When the Giants come to town, it’s Bye-Bye Baby, Every time the chips are down, it’s Bye-Bye Baby, History’s in the making at Candlestick Park,Cheer for the batter, and light the spark!” Scott and Cassie exclaimed the last part with conviction, as they were met by Bucky, looking rather upset. He was wearing a black t-shirt with one of Scott’s hats on. “Did it have to be the Giants?” He grumbled. As he regained his memories back, he caught up to the little things that he liked, like science, innovation, and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He hated the Giants then, and he still hated them now, even if they were a California team.

“Did my daughter have to pick out a Dodgers fan to act like her father?” Scott retorted as he put his hands on his hips. He was more shocked by Bucky’s opinions on baseball than this whole situation.

Bucky rolled his eyes at this before looking down at Cassie, “Ready kid?”

Cassie nodded with her toothy grin, “Yup! I’ll see you there Daddy!” And with that Cassie and Bucky walked off to the car while Scott waited for his ride to pick him up.

You walked out in a Mets baseball cap, a tank top, and jeans when you got the text that Bucky was outside. In reality, you could care less about baseball, you were just glad that this hat was on sale. Sliding into the front seat you looked back at Cassie and said with a wink, “You ready?”

Cassie nodded, “I brought my glove! It’s signed by my daddy’s really good friend Hunter Pence!” She waved the baseball glove in the air, showing the scribble on it. Scott had run out of ideas to get his daughter a gift, and he was broke, so he took her glove and tried to forge the baseball player’s signature. Sure, Paxton may have given him a lecture about it afterwards, but Cassie loved it.

“Oh! How lovely!” You exclaimed as you shot Bucky a smile, your eyes saying ‘I have no idea who that is’. Which Bucky caught as he shrugged. Yeah, he didn’t know who that was either, but Scott got the kid a signed glove, so that made him look good.

“So, we’re going to tailgate with a couple of people that I know.” Bucky started as he started driving.

“How do you know them?”

Great question. Bucky didn’t even know who he was going to sit with. “Well, they’re friends of Cassie’s uncle.” Nice save, that’ll bite him in the back later.

The entire car ride the two of you were talking, mostly bickering on which routes to take, with some commentary on the weird people New York.

“So, can we both agree that Tony Stark is overrated?” you said as you looked over at him.

Boy did he have some thoughts about Tony. “Yup,” Bucky smirked, “I mean, what’s up with the goatee?”

“Right? Also, is he a playboy or is he serious about Pepper Potts? I mean, she is waaaay too good for him.”

“Agreed. Also, his ego is off the charts.”

“Ugh totally, I can feel it seeping off of every picture I see of him. Like, I get it, you’re Iron Man.”

Bucky chuckled, “You know, you’re very agreeable Miss L/N, except when it comes to directions.”

You scoffed as you turned to look at him with shock in your eyes, “Excuse me? Any other day I would have been right about construction. Navigation systems are rigged.”

“Sure. But this navigation system just outsmarted you.” Bucky said with a smirk as he tapped on the GPS.

“That’s the evil internet lord that will take over and steal all of our jobs, you can’t trust it.”

Bucky didn’t respond to this, giddy as he pulled into the parking lot where Scott and his friends were waving. And then suddenly he realized that he didn’t tell Scott to fill his friends on the situation. So, he might have panicked as he made eye contact with the dark haired woman with Scott as she raised an eyebrow at him and turned to glare at Scott, while an older couple behind them looked rather shocked to see them. 

“Stay in here.” he said sharply to you and Cassie before rushing to go meet Scott and company.

“Scott,” the older man hissed as he kept on eye on Bucky, “Why the hell is he here?”

707: Which Mystic Messenger character is your favorite and do you have any headcanons for them?

God 707 obviously, but Yoosung is really really not far behind because Yoosung is my first route and that I relate to him the most (22-yo-uni-student-who-plays-games-and-doesn’t-know-what-to-do-with-her-life). Anyways!

707 headcanons, in no particular order:

- is one hell of a tickler

- owns a 3D printer because that shit is rad AF

- Has the Nyan Cat song as his ringtone

- Is probaby the one who created Nyan Cat tbh

- When he calls MC in the common route to say he has to go stretch and jokes about doing mental stretching, he was actually going to do a real workout

- In the same idea, he works out probably as much as Zen does. Gotta keep the secret agent body in shape. He keeps the habit even after he leaves the agency.

- And in the same idea, I could also apply some secret agent stuff I know from my american uncle who worked for the secret services, which include, but not only: having to attend a RFA party, being called at the last minute and promising that he’ll be back soon, leaving in his brand new suit and actually coming back at 4AM, his clothes neat and untouched, until he turns around and there’s actually a huge rip across his back (but he’s not wounded). Another one is telling MC he’s got some job to do in Germany, while he’s away MC’s child breaking their arm and her needing to call him immediately, the secretary at the embassy telling her that he’s actually in Irak, MC managing to get the number and yelling at her husband over the phone while he’s undercover in the middle of nowhere.

- In the call where he tells MC that he dreamt he was a cat and ran away with his kitty brother from the bad cat mom, he’s actually lying. He had a nightmare about his childhood and woke up in sweat and tears.

- Is bisexual but it’s canon at this rate.

- Acts like he does it only for his job, but he actually likes crossdressing.

- Sometimes steals MC’s dresses because they are comfy

- Is the Guitar Hero ultimate master

- Also a pro at Fruit Ninja

- Is a great dancer. Remember when he says he learnt waltz and tango for Elly? He actually knows how to. It comes from his panel of Things He Had To Learn To Be A Good Field Agent. He also likes dancing the Sims way just to make MC laugh

- Is one hell of a cuddler. He hugs MC whenever possible. He likes to have her sit on his lap to read/play videogames/nap when he’s working; it helps him concentrate and none of them feels lonely, even if they do different stuff.

- Has watched the entirety of Stargate SG1

- Secretly dreams to go to Disneyland at least once

- Also likes to roll himself in a blanket burrito and rest his head on MC’s stomach or chest while cuddling on the couch. He loves listening to her heartbeat, it’s soothing.

- His hands and feet are almost always cold

- Proposes to MC through a pun (which I already wrote)

- Has a tattoo of the Cross on his back, from the base of his nape to the small of his back. He probably gets a matching one with MC.

- This is an art thing but I like drawing the scar of the bullet he took in the arm during the secret endings

- Likes connecting MC’s moles with a pen (Ihavelotsthisisabsolutelynotsomeselfinsertstuff)

- Lots of (stupid) selfies!

- Doesn’t want kids at first, because he’s scared of not being a good father, but after a few years and a lot of work on himself he ends up agreeing.

- Gets a therapy in the Secret Ending

Glam choi: Which route has been the most challenging for you?

Jumin’s. I haven’t played Another Story yet, but here’s the thing. From my experience with the fandom, very few people seem to realise how dangerous this man is in his route. The first part was okay, I was even glad I got to visit him so early in the game!

But what I didn’t know about myself is that I had triggers.

So when Jumin prevented MC from going back the first day, I was fine. When he asked her to stay until the following evening, I got suspicious but didn’t say anything. I started thinking something was off. I definitely didn’t like him forcing her to stay a second night.

When he pinned her against the wall, I laughed for ten seconds because he did the Kabe Don™thing. Then right after, I burst into tears. When I play the game, I’m really into it. So when I tried to imagine myself in MC’s place, I got a… flashback. I saw myself at the age of 13, being locked in my boyfriend’s apartment, with him there, both of us not realising I didn’t want to be there and that I was terrified he would assault me or something(we had a very unhealthy relationship and he tried to blackmail me into French kissing him/most likely more. Thanks god I never gave in) . And the worst part is that it took me seven years and therapy to understand that what I felt that day was fear. This guy fucked me up in so many ways (but that’s another story).

Anyway, I try to live with my trauma, but I had to lock my phone and put it down for a few hours after that. I wanted the good ending, so I forced myself to give the right answers, which were the exact opposite of what I wanted (I wanted to click those “let me go” answers so bad I stg). Getting to the end of his route was emotionally exhausting. I didn’t even buy his after ending after that. I’ve played every route at least three times. I never touched his again. I just can’t. Moreover getting his route requires being a bitch to 707 and my heart can’t handle that

After his route, I needed almost a month to recover. That’s the reason why I can’t bring myself to like Jumin. I mean, he’s great in Zen’s and 707′s routes, but he’s such an asshole in Jaehee’s route. I can’t like all of the aspects of his character, sometimes I find him awesome (he’s so savage sometimes, I love it) and sometimes I just crave punching him in the face.
