Clark Kent is fucking terrifying as a reporter.

All he does is take an interview with the suspects, before throwing down some of the hardest questions that leaves them squirming in their seats.

They see this shy man who always hunches, wears dorky glasses and assume they’re the ones in charge. But the moment he timidly asks if they can record the session, lulled by their false sense of security they end up agreeing and the tables turn so fast none of them are left standing.

Question after question, of events that could not have possibly been made public, of deals and skeletons in the closet no one has dared open.

And the man is a bloodhound.

Clark uses his superhearing to help gather information. He knows drop locations, families, the plotting betrayals and plans. So all it takes is a little investigation, connecting the dots before blowing apart the criminals’ plans.

The villains, aware of his reputation, tell everyone to lie their ass off.

Most even pass the lie detector. But Clark never uses it.

He asks them questions that don’t seem related to the case, throwing them off their game asking about their health, the weather and so forth.

And there’s just something about him that makes them drop their guards without realising it. Something that even Batman has admitted to. The fact that despite his appearance, there’s an almost non existent aura, and you don’t even realise you’re saying something confidential or sliping up.

The villains lie about everything there is, avoiding every trap yet somehow from an interview about rabbits Clark Kent now publishes a plot of robbing Metropolis’ banks along with the details all laid out.

If Clark Kent comes for you, everyone knows it’s a death sentence.

Unimportant but slightly funny thing i just found and had never seen mentioned before: The variable used for displaying what chapter you started your deltarune save in on the light world’s stats screen (oddly not the dark world’s...?) is called “krispreservationsociety” (society for the preservation of krises)

i actually somehow never noticed this was a thing that displayed at all this whole time i suppose i just never looked at this screen in chapter 2...

#also the thing i was looking to check that accidentally led me to find this #dr apparently actually keeps ut's easter egg for if you change the character name to be longer than it should #except here its just for if you managed to change kris's name at all which is unusual #because that's not a save data variable you have to actually change the language data to manage that #...and it still is only concerned if its longer than 7 characters. but the message it adds is different now #its just ''???'' instead of ''easy to change huh''#so i wonder if actually its left in there just because if they were worried it would break something if taken out...#mypost #dt #back to the topic of kris preservation society i suppose its not in the dark world menus because there wasnt room for it #its main purpose seems to just be for bragging rights or maybe just as reminder though so it was a little odd to me #that its somewhere where you cant see it for most of the actual runtime of the game

it was mid-autumn festival recently and i wanted to take the opportunity to make dq characters share mooncake :')

ngl my plan was to elaborate on my headcanons for ancient del culture (aka before the shadowlord eroded Del over time) but i don't really have the energy so maybe i'll come back another time with my thoughts

but the short version is that the Topaz is their talisman, and its powers and traits are relative to the Del people. so in this instance, the importance of the moon to the Topaz's power is in parallel to its importance to the people. (what that means is up for interpretation. i have ideas but you may have others)

anyway maybe post-DQ3 they do a harvest festival, or maybe even dragon night itself, and people make some form of mooncake to share with loved ones <3

Au idea I'll probably never write:

Steve as seven au, BUT he escapes at the same time as El in season 1. They get separated after Benny's, when seven tells eleven to run and definitely kills a couple government agents to give her more time.

So the a plot of will being missing and Mike finding El? Standard canon except El is ALSO looking for her brother and is worried about him. She sees that he's mostly safe and tries to help find will but also insists she go to her brother soon.

B plot of barb and Nancy...idk I haven't really thought about how that'd work without Steve's kickback. Maybe they go to a party (like actual party not the five person hangout) together and get separated and no one notices barb disappear from the edge of the lawn. Idk

The C plot is seven, kinda bloody and definitely cold, wandering out into the middle of the street, and one Robin Buckley almost running him over with her bike. She immediately clocks "guy who seems pretty fucked up" about him, and offers him a ride to her house. But Robin has never been the most coordinated of people and biking with a(admittedly probably too skinny) teenage boy sitting in her package rack is hard, and combine that with a guy driving like the devil's after him, they end up swerving of the road.

Eddie steps out, apologizes profusely, and offers them a ride. seven is sceptical, especially when both of them pause when he tells them his name, but does end up in the van. He finally gets a chance to breathe once they get to the Buckleys', and Robin gets him some leftovers.

He sits in front of the tv set to a blank station, tucks his head into his shirt instead of blindfolds, and tries to see El.

He sees her older, with flowers braided through long hair, laughing. Too far. He sees her with short curls, a patterned button down, eating something in a cone beside a mustachioed man. Too far again. He sees her tiny, scared, holding his own small hand. Not far enough.

Finally, finally, he sees her as she knows her now, mostly, standing beside a group of children and in front of a monster in a large room.

Eddie and Robin have no idea why their new friend? Has turned the tv on to static and is hiding in his shirt, but figure he's had a rough day. He pops his head back out, blood dripping from his nose, and grins, telling them he knows where his sister will be.

Anyways blah blah blah El sees where people ARE Steve sees where people have been/will be (based on where/who they are right now. Futura is constantly in motion etc).

Idk season 2 would happen very similar as canon minus stancy break up (they never date and are just friends) (also Steve tells Robin and Eddie he and El are safe and they pass it on to the kids) El finds Kali, Steve fights demodogs, etc etc.

But I want a (pre?) season 3 scene where Robin and Steve are hanging out as soulmates do, door closed because they are discussing Sensitive Subjects (gay shit) and giggling like schoolgirls. Hopper, in all his disappointed dad glory, opens the door and starts in on a rant about keeping the door open three inches.

Steve, bitch that he is, just tilts his head to the side and says "but that is for when we are with people we date. I am not dating Robin."

Hopper, not yet picking up what's happening, sighs. "Kid. It's about propriety. You can't be alone with Robin, because what if you do start dating. Then it's. You have to set an example for El!"(it would be a nice move bringing up Older Brother Responsibility, except...well.)

"but we aren't. I am dating someone else?"

"still need the door open three inches, pal. When El is home, at least"(El is almost always home)

"we do! And you complain about the loud music!"

"wait. Who are you dating? I thought Nancy was dating Jonathan still. She barely comes over." Hopper please pick up what Steve is putting down oh my god.

(hop has forgotten Robin is there and she is trying very hard not to make noise but Steve keeps meeting her eye sometimes because dear god. truly an iconic moment in friendship history.)

"yeah obviously. Eddie comes over all the time, though."

"what does Ed- oooh. Ah. I see. That's why you keep the door open even though he complains."

Steve nods like Hopper is the dumbest man on the planet. He might just be. "Yes. Because you said El had to and she asked why I didn't have to so then I started to leave it open when Eddie was over. At least Eddie doesn't laugh at you to your face"

"Eddie laughs behind my back?"

"he said you didn't know we were dating but I told him of course you knew, the door is open three inches."

Hopper clasps Steve's shoulders and looks him in the eye. "Steve, I need you to keep telling him that. And not mention this very awkward conversation we had."

"because he was right."

"he doesn't need to know that."

It is not your blood at the edge of your mouth. Not your blood that your tongue swipes from the corner of your lips. Not your blood whose coppery tastes lingers between your teeth.

Sister Kindness has you tucked under her arm as she, to use her words, books it. Something she must not do often because she huffs and puffs her way through the crowded Shaded Bower. And though some call out ‘Sister’ to her with warm recognition she does not stop ‘booking’ it. (Sister Kindness would have you know that she is perfectly in shape for a woman of her age. She was ‘huffing and puffing’ from the extra weight of carrying you, thank you very much.)

She slows when the westshore pier appears around the corner and then she steps off the main path and sets you down. Kneeling to be something more like eye-level, she pulls a Roegadyn-sized handkerchief from the depths of her habit. Wetting a corner with a flask pulled from a separate, equally confusing pocket she begins to clean the blood from your face.

Sister Kindness’ hand is firm where it grips your chin, holding as little of you as possible. For once the contact does not send you recoiling. Perhaps it is the way your rage has left you as quickly as it had flooded you, leaving you feeling drained of everything else as well. Now that the moment has passed you tremble and, to your horror, you can feel a well of tears rising to fill that empty space.

“Was a helluva bite, darling girl,” Sister Kindness’s voice is quiet as she tilts your head to the light, searching for any blood she may have missed. You focus on her creek colored eyes and swear you feel their waters lapping at your ankles. Her smile is sudden but woozy around the edges; she is just as shaken. "Reckon he'll have a scar, too. Bet he lies about who gave it to him." ‘He’ was an elezen man -- maybe a merchant but likely not, as Sister Kindness did not know him -- with a face as sharp as his ears and a smile that spoke of too much confidence. And you had hated him on sight. His crime was making Sister Kindness uncomfortable and his mistake was not being aware of his surroundings.

It does not take much pressure to break skin.

Pleased with her work, Sister Kindness rises and disappears the handkerchief away. Handing you the flask, she instructs you to take a sip, swirl it around your mouth, and spit it out. There is some confusion about what 'swirl' means but, eventually, she is satisfied with this too. “Well, we didn’t get what I came for but we’ll be headed home all the same. Come now, before the ferry leaves without us. We will, ah, not be telling the abbess about this.” You don’t know if she means the bite or the trip to the city.

also a good way to go into fantasy society worldbuilding or just worldbuilding in general is just to remember "no animal is inheritly evil, no human is inheritly cruel and deserving of punishment for being alive, and no species is deserving of a death penalty simply for how they look. no matter what."

like. if you have a species that say. is being ruled by an evil overlord and as such rules under a very violent society. however if person of that species is taken outside of this society, they can become a better person and learn from their misdeeds. if a member of the species isn't raised inside the walls of this violent society, they'll turn out just how their parents raise them, not how the society expects them to act.

but if you have a society where the species inside of it is "inheritly" seen as evil or stupid, where even raising a child out of this environment they are still mean no matter what. stop. that does not make sense. that gives off a very weird message. it's way more compelling and thoughtful if you state that its an upbringing, or a society, that makes someone who they are, not that its "inherit." holds up hands. back away from the stage a little. no one is inherently evil no matter what even if you dont like them. and especially even if you dont find them pretty or "cool."

#(taking inventory) hmmm basically all of my isat stuff is postcanon huh. unintentional but interesting behaviour from me #<- not used to making fanwork and is intrigued by my gravitation toward this #id suppose it's because im more of a character studies person than anything? like....#isat very thoroughly explores its characters ingame. i have no real speculation to add there. its very airtight #but leaves the characters with very intentional next-steps-in-life to explore.#+ i in general approach texts as like... a challenge to get the most 'accurate' read on the characters as i can #hense my mumbling about my fancontent potentially feeling 'rude' to me. ie if i read the characters wrong ive failed at task #of exclusively substantiated reading. and thus hense the tension between 'unbased speculation inherent to fan work' and #'textual basis for character analysis'. its interesting #and fun! i do find it fun. but it is something about me that i take this to be an intellectual challenge first and foremost #you can REALLY tell im an oc guy sometimes i think lol. im very used to keeping myself on the straight and narrow #trying not to let characterisation drift.... its so easy to accidentally flanderise or soften the edges off of a character especially....#anyway. ramble over. just interesting to me to take stock of my output #lucabytetalks
