So many years ago back when indoor/outdoor cats were the norm I had a beloved cat named Oliver who spent 5 nights a week snuggling with me and his days and bi-weekly midnight excursions beating the shit out of every other neighborhood cat, a few dogs, and one time a whole squirrel which he dragged inside and released. He once released a live snake in my bed as a gift. He was a psychopathic murderer but he loved people, gosh he loved people.
Because of the fact he was constantly ready to fight a bitch he was always coming home bruised and battered but victorious. After the 3rd or 4th $100 visit for the vet to drain an abscess the vet taught us how to drain and clean an abscess. As my mother was a nurse we got quite comfortable with the procedure.
So an important nighttime ritual was to give my cat a good thorough sniffing about the ears and neck for any suspiciously sweet smells (easiest telltale of an abscess) so that we could drain and clean it ASAP before we needed antibiotics. (Yes we should've tried to keep him in away from fights but it was a different time and my dad refused to have an indoor litterbox)
Now I have not had to find, drain, or clean an abscess on any pets for over a decade as my cats today are spoiled indoor darlings who wouldn't survive on the streets for a night much less 17 years.
However every night I still give each cat a few sniffs. Gang I was halfway to the bathroom for peroxide and a scalpel before I remembered I spent the day making chikki/ Indian mixed nut brittle and IM the one indelibly impregnated with the scent of sugar and sweat, not my cat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behold an innocent who would like me to stop sniffing her ears. And some really good chikki. I had no idea I was subconsciously checking for abscesses till I was hunting for the peroxide and trying to remember how long to disinfect a scalpel for 😂😂😂

Could Gale ever be Poly?
Situationally. Yes
Am I the person who wrote an entire post about Gale being a jealous (rightfully so) man? Yes.
But hear me out, in the aftermath of BG3, as long as we took everyone's "good" route. I could see him eventually agreeing to a 3rd. Not just any but very specifically Astarion. And while this is partially bloodweave brainrot I assure you I have considered it.
It wouldn't be easy for either of them, and realistically Tav. But Gale would start out as the main, Astarion and Tav are just BFFs. Astarion learning that love can be without strings.
They invite him to Waterdeep, away from the city and it's memories but also towards a potential Vampirism Cure/Day walking spell that doesn't involve becoming Cazador. Because Gale would be the most qualified to find that cure. And I bet his tower is easily traversed in the daylight hours without risk to Astarion.
It could just stop there, the three of them happy.
But we're discussing a triad.
I think the first crossroads towards romance would actually be Gale/Astarion. Astarion would still be himself and while his innuendo and flirting is generally accepted as just Who He Is and no one pays it mind. Maybe Gale off handedly agrees to whatever entendre that is proposed, as a challenge or just truly "yes I would agree to doing this dirty thing you've joked about." Astarion would be
Tumblr media
at first. Mostly from shock but then he'd dwell on it. Tav and Gale aren't shy with touch, with each other or him. He's regularly hugged and cuddled, sometime's he's even the initiator. It's not uncommon for Gale to emerge from his study after hours to find them curled up on the same couch each immersed in their own thing.
Gale's probably the first one to be surprised by his own lack of jealousy when he happens upon the scene for the first time. But it just becomes the norm. And when Tav is off working on their own thing it eventually becomes common to find Gale and Astarion knee to knee in the study, each with excessively large tomes, leaning over one another because they're both working from BOTH books.
So that first time Gale is blatantly like "yeah lets do that" Astarion is struck by the fact that... he actually might want to. But he's reluctant because Tav's (and admittedly Gale's) friendship is unexpectedly more important that anything as fleeting as 'romance' or 'lust'.
But Tav is 200% on board when the conversation get brought up by Astarion (in the 'ahaha you wouldn't believe...' way). They love both these idiots, albeit in different ways, and wouldn't mind. Even if it was just Gale&Astarion.
But it would never be JUST those two because of how deeply both men care for Tav. Whatever they build to becomes normal. Maybe all three sleep in the same bed, Astarion position on the outside so he can sneak off when he's done resting. Maybe they just constantly find each other making overlapping decisions about future adventures or where to look for a rumored cure.
Part of the reason why this works is Gale and Astarion are not dissimilar. They face their trauma with different takes but it's deeply embedded in who they are and how they'll approach life forever more. While Gale is 100% willing to try and give Astarion more autonomy than he's ever dreamed of, believing that 'if you love something set it free' line. Astarion would spend a lot of time trying to get Gale to see and accept that while he made mistakes he was far from the villain in his story. Tav would spend most of that time trying to run around thwarting miscommunication and reigning in Astarion's god-killer urge despite also wanting very much to punch Mystra.
So while I think both men deserve to be 100% the center of someone's affections, I also believe they could eventually find a healthy trio dynamic.
(and also do whatever the faerun equivalent of an eiffel tower is to tav regularly)

I feel like the Grysk work way better than the Yuuzhan Vong as the "nebulous threat" that Thrawn is fighting against because they are clearly tailor made to highlight how wrong Thrawn can be due to his own personal weaknesses.
The entire plot of the Ascendancy trilogy is the Grysk gaining footing through 100% political means - they use espionage to discover the internal divisions and weak points of a country's political system and then attack that, an issue that is probably better addressed through collaboration and the strengthening of the country's political culture and institutions (the Chiss are so quick to abandon their national interests in the face of internal divisions). Thrawn wins every single battle in that trilogy and yet everyone, including himself, is way worse off than where they started and at great risk from the Grysks simply because the Chiss political system is so unstable and because their culture sees collaboration with other races as fundamentally undesirable.
And what Thrawn, who is also either incapable of or completely uninterested in thinking about politics, concludes from all this is, "Ah, yes, this is a problem that can only be solved by throwing more military power at it. Preferably military power run by an authoritarian state that tries to eradicate any trace of political pluralism, because that will make them less vulnerable to the exploitation of the political actors' rivalries and personal interests."
And then he spends, what, fifteen years working with people like Tarkin and Krennic, while having to constantly extinguish rebellions that are popping up everywhere due to the Empire's oppressive policies, and still somehow thinks that the Grysks wouldn't be able to deal with the Empire easily. The Empire that didn't even need them to topple itself through internal conflict in less than a generation - if the Grysks wanted to conquer it, all they'd have to do is wait.
And after reading Lesser Evil I really think that at least part of it is due to some personal drives/needs he's not self-aware enough to address: he says it point-blank that he never believed the Ascendancy would give him an admiralship, and you see hints of his constant frustration at people not understanding him and him having to teach them (sometimes from a position of less power than they have, sometimes when they really don't care to be taught) both through Thrass's POV and through his very slight (but noticeable by his standards) emotional unraveling by the end of the book (e.s. the scene with Unghali where he gets all angry and scary).
Because he has never naturally arrived at the limit of his own competence but was always hamstrung by others, he has no means of differentiating between when he's theoretically right but the politics are obstructing him and when he's actually wrong and the solution is outside of his sphere of competence.
So of course that a political system where being a flag officer means that he gets to do whatever the fuck he wants as long as he convinces one guy of it, where he gets to teach people how to think better and pick only them for positions of power, in a country with no pesky norms about preemptive strikes that he constantly needs to rule lawyer around, sounds appealing.
It's not just about the Ascendancy now, it's also about showing what he can do when not too obstructed, and it's also the first time he has enough free reign to slam headfirst into the big wall of his own lack of capacity or desire to understand politics. But hey, at least he's free to fuck around and find out, not feeling constantly frustrated and overly controlled!
Truly the most character of all time, I love it. People complain about how Zahn babygirlified him in the new canon books just because they're from his POV when switching out the Vong for the Grysk makes him more unambiguously wrong than he was in Legends (where you got other people like Jacen Solo following the same rationale).

B., a senior officer who used Lavender, echoed to +972 and Local Call that in the current war, officers were not required to independently review the AI system’s assessments, in order to save time and enable the mass production of human targets without hindrances.
“Everything was statistical, everything was neat — it was very dry,” B. said. He noted that this lack of supervision was permitted despite internal checks showing that Lavender’s calculations were considered accurate only 90 percent of the time; in other words, it was known in advance that 10 percent of the human targets slated for assassination were not members of the Hamas military wing at all.
For example, sources explained that the Lavender machine sometimes mistakenly flagged individuals who had communication patterns similar to known Hamas or PIJ operatives — including police and civil defense workers, militants’ relatives, residents who happened to have a name and nickname identical to that of an operative, and Gazans who used a device that once belonged to a Hamas operative.
“How close does a person have to be to Hamas to be [considered by an AI machine to be] affiliated with the organization?” said one source critical of Lavender’s inaccuracy. “It’s a vague boundary. Is a person who doesn’t receive a salary from Hamas, but helps them with all sorts of things, a Hamas operative? Is someone who was in Hamas in the past, but is no longer there today, a Hamas operative? Each of these features — characteristics that a machine would flag as suspicious — is inaccurate.”
Similar problems exist with the ability of target machines to assess the phone used by an individual marked for assassination. “In war, Palestinians change phones all the time,” said the source. “People lose contact with their families, give their phone to a friend or a wife, maybe lose it. There is no way to rely 100 percent on the automatic mechanism that determines which [phone] number belongs to whom.”
According to the sources, the army knew that the minimal human supervision in place would not discover these faults. “There was no ‘zero-error’ policy. Mistakes were treated statistically,” said a source who used Lavender. “Because of the scope and magnitude, the protocol was that even if you don’t know for sure that the machine is right, you know that statistically it’s fine. So you go for it.”
“It has proven itself,” said B., the senior source. “There’s something about the statistical approach that sets you to a certain norm and standard. There has been an illogical amount of [bombings] in this operation. This is unparalleled, in my memory. And I have much more trust in a statistical mechanism than a soldier who lost a friend two days ago. Everyone there, including me, lost people on October 7. The machine did it coldly. And that made it easier.”
Another intelligence source, who defended the reliance on the Lavender-generated kill lists of Palestinian suspects, argued that it was worth investing an intelligence officer’s time only to verify the information if the target was a senior commander in Hamas. “But when it comes to a junior militant, you don’t want to invest manpower and time in it,” he said. “In war, there is no time to incriminate every target. So you’re willing to take the margin of error of using artificial intelligence, risking collateral damage and civilians dying, and risking attacking by mistake, and to live with it.”
B. said that the reason for this automation was a constant push to generate more targets for assassination. “In a day without targets [whose feature rating was sufficient to authorize a strike], we attacked at a lower threshold. We were constantly being pressured: ‘Bring us more targets.’ They really shouted at us. We finished [killing] our targets very quickly.”
He explained that when lowering the rating threshold of Lavender, it would mark more people as targets for strikes. “At its peak, the system managed to generate 37,000 people as potential human targets,” said B. “But the numbers changed all the time, because it depends on where you set the bar of what a Hamas operative is. There were times when a Hamas operative was defined more broadly, and then the machine started bringing us all kinds of civil defense personnel, police officers, on whom it would be a shame to waste bombs. They help the Hamas government, but they don’t really endanger soldiers.”

hey! I saw requests were open, if it's not a problem. what would bucci gang think of a fem reader with short hair or a buzzcut?
Not me googling what a buzzcut is-
But sure! 😄 I'm...Very sorry this turned out so short, I must admit I had some troubles coming up with what to write. If you ever want to request something else, you're more than welcomed to ^^
Bucci gang with a S/O with a buzzcut.
Giorno 🐞
Can I just say Giorno admires you in a certain way?
He knows that it's not a very conventional "feminine" haircut, and that you may get bad looks from some... People, from time to time.
But he really approves the way you don't seem to worry about what others think in the slightest, it's something he finds really fascinating in a person.
He supports your look 100% and tells you how beautiful you are in his eyes any time he can.
I can see him buying you a lot of outfits to go with the rest of your appearance. He loves to spoil you and thinks it's a better way to prove he truly believes you look stunning.
His long hair and braid create a nice contrast to your own. He thinks it's nice how the two of you break the usual norms for female and male beauty.
Bruno 🤐
Bruno loves how much your haircut makes you stick out for the norm.
He encourages you to express yourself in any way it makes you feel comfortable, and if it's with a buzzcut, why not?
He'll be ready to send away just with a single look anyone who may have something to say about your appearance.
He'd invite you to ignore those who don't approve of your image and he'd constantly remind you that "long hair for women" is purely a convention. You don't have to conform to anything nor anyone.
I can see him wanting you to try on his little hairpins just because he thinks they'd look nice on you. If you don't want to though, it's alright and he wouldn't care to insist :)
Mista
Buddy I wouldn't be surprised if he had a buzzcut too if he ain't straight up bald lol
He thinks your short hair makes you look pretty badass, he likes to show off to the others how cool his girlfriend is.
He loves the way it makes you stand out from the ordinary and how you don't care about how people may judge you for your appearance.
The pistols probably like to sit on your head when they're tired, I'm sorry.
He gives you his hat to protect you from them, although he's kinda sad about covering your haircut.
Narancia 🍊
Narancia doesn't mind your look at all! He thinks it's so cool that you look pretty different from most girls he's met growing up.
Please let him put his headband on you, he thinks you'd look adorable with it.
He's probably considered getting a buzzcut too just to match with you. With enough convincing, you might actually get him to do it.
Forgive me for this, but he'd totally use your head as a drum whenever he's getting bored.
He'll stop as soon as you ask him though.
He can, and will stab anyone who says anything negative about your look. No one criticises his girlfriend and gets away with it.
Fugo 🍓
To be honest, Fugo never really thought much about your appearance until you pointed it out to him.
Not because you're ugly, of course. He simply thinks it's your body and you choose how to show yourself to others, it's a style choice like anything else.
But if you were to directly ask him what he thinks about it, he won't hesitate to show that he genuinely does love your look.
Probably kisses your head very often to make up for the time he appeared a bit disinterested at first. He doesn't mean to make you think he doesn't care about it, he just thinks you're beautiful in any case.
After some time though, even when you're sure he held no ill intentions, he just keeps on doing it because he loves kissing you in general.
Abbacchio ⏮️
Okay, Abbacchio probably thought from the very beginning that your look was quite astounding. He loved the slightly masculine vibe you gave off, in contrast with his long hair.
But is he going to say that out loud? No, or course not. He can't admit something, at least in his mind, so "cheesy", even if it's not really so bad.
When you directly ask him what he thinks about your appearance, he tries to avoid and change the subject as soon as possible, which most likely leads you to believe you look bad in his eyes.
Normally, you don't really care about what people have to say about it, but it hurts coming from your partner.
Nonetheless the man is not stupid, and he can see that his response hurt you.
So, albeit still reluctantly, he will try to show more appreciation for your haircut, just enough for you to realize he really means it.
Trish 🎙
Okay, I'll be honest with you: Trish probably didn't like your haircut a lot at first. It's just not really her style.
If you're part of the gang and met her while escorting her, she might even say it to your face at some point. If you met her later, she'll just keep it to herself.
Either way, once she starts to warm up to you, she'll apologize and ask you to forgive her for her rude comments, or even for just thinking that.
Being with you made her appreciate this new type of look more, she kind of likes the way it seems to to balance out her own quite feminine appearance.
She's a bit sad she can't try many haircuts on you, so she loves to do your make up to make it match with your overall vibe.

☾ Aquarius Moon Tings ☽
Just some observations I have picked up along the way as a 4H Aquarius Moon that married a 12H Aquarius Moon
🚨 By no means am I an astrologer. Please take this with a grain of salt 🚨
🌙 IMO most people know that natal Aquarius Moons don't acknowledge their feelings and emotions very well; But it's much more than that. From what I have seen, they understand their emotions, they just don't process them. Aqua Moons are very good at analysing situations but it only extends to there. If a negative situation occurs, they are likely to analyse and move on and not dwell on the situation.
🌙 Relationship with their mother is strange; depending on aspects ofc. Though, looking away from aspects, I've noticed that Aqua moons tend to have an okay relationship with their mother, it is just complicated and inconsistent. They often want to seperate themselves from their mother figure yet continue a low-key relationship with them. Most rebellion forms from the connection to their Mother.
🌙 Aqua Moons have a thing for music, I swear. It is such a big part of their lives. And it's not to just enjoy the music they listen to, it is how they openly express their emotions. I can give you a song based on how I feel towards my mother, but I absolutely cannot tell you how I feel about her through my own emotions.
🌙 It is awkward talking about emotions, most Aqua moons I have met don't really have the tolerance for sympathy/empathy? i.e. I have a Cancer Venus, I am very compassionate and I have a lot of love to give, but fuck I don't want to hear about how bad your week has been, idk how to fix it for you.
🌙 Depending on their Mercury sign/aspects to mercury, an evolved Aqua Moon can definitely process and communicate their emotions effectively; they just need to evolve first. My husband, 12H Aqua Moon trine 9H Libra Mercury, is bloody awesome at discussing his emotions. I, on the other hand; 4H Aqua Moon non-aspecting 8H Gemini Mercury, am horrid at discussing and processing my emotions and tend to avoid it most of the time (bcos I'm un-evolved asf)
🌙 Adding to above ↑ Just because you have evolved doesn't mean you will magically process your emotions each time. Aqua Moons have a habit of living in their head, though they analyse and move on, they can tend to overthink.
🌙 Definitely have a 'I don't fucking care' or 'Whatever' vibe. It can be hard to connect to Aqua Moons because of this. They can be very straightforward and direct (remember, they display sympathy/empathy weirdly), I wouldn't suggest looking for emotional advise from an Aquarius Moon.
🌙 They be old souls 100%. Old movies, music, tv shows, clothing. Or they may have very different tastes in these aspects to the norm. Aquarius being eccentric, free and rebellious, it is unlikely you will find an Aqua Moon that has the same interests as society (or any Aquarius placement for that matter, my Aqua Sun dad is WILD. He is so fucking weird ilhsm)
🌙 I just want to talk about the 4H for a minute, because I haven't read much on this placement regarding an Aqua Moon. I have 4H Aquarius Moon, Uranus, SN, I/C (ofc) and 3H Aqua Neptune - all conjunct to each other (help). Let me tell you, when I say my upbringing was unconventional, it was fucking unconventional. ☾ I was always travelling, whether it was to family 30mins away or across the country; We were never really at home, always doing something (perks of having a Sagg mum ig) ☾ Traditions are very important, as well as ties to home. However, though these are important to my family, I would prefer to break from these chains (Moon conjunct Uranus) ☾ speaking on my 4H Moon/Uranus friends, how much does it suck that we have to be the ones to break ancestral generational curses? ☾ Black sheep of the family vibes - I constantly fight with my mother about the standards she sets for me and the standards she sets for my sister. (Thnx 3H Neptune conjunct 4H Moon 🖤) ☾ Definitely have a high chance of leaving home young - They seek freedom and being tied to home is not free; especially if there are harsh aspects to the Moon. Using my 4H placements, I left home at 19. ☾ Pluto aspects are super interesting when the Aqua Moon is in the 4H. Depending the aspect, natives can either face easy transformations to their emotions regarding home life/mother/emotions, or it can be super difficult. Mine is sextile Pluto; I am really good a reading emotional atmosphere changes and can pinpoint when a change is happening with my emotions internally. Harder aspects (Square, Opposition, Conjunct) will make it difficult to understand when a transformation in atmosphere/emotions is present.
🌙 Notice how Aqua Moons have a small, tight group of friends; no matter their Sun sign? I've noticed it is because the people they pick to become close friends with have something to give emotionally. We don't understand our emotions, but someone else does. You could have a Gemini/Sagittarius Sun and have a massive group of friends, but if you have an Aqua Moon alongside this, you will likely have a large group of friends, but a select few that you actually connect well with.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed! ~PMH 🍃

Journalism delenda est, continued
If Fox News really were the right-wing hate-machine that Democrats love to imagine, Fox could spin off a channel with a name like Blacks Behaving Badly, which would be simply continuous coverage of murders and rapes committed by blacks.
Blacks Behaving Badly could easily get 24-hour material of constantly new crimes by giving merely an hour to each black murder or black rape, because blacks commit those crimes about hourly in America. (Compare the way left-wing press is still bleating about Emmett Till.) The information on BBB would all be true, of course, and the channel would be dedicated to covering some matters and not others, which is inevitable because every TV channel has to make some decisions about what to include of the millions of events that happen every day.
It would still be a wicked, shit-stirring, hate-inciting, no good, very bad, racebait channel with a chronic shortage of redeeming features, whose selective coverage would be obviously malicious.
I bring up this hypothetical construct as a point of comparison for the wicked bit of shit-stirring racebait and so forth that recently came out of Reuters in real life: a special report on how U.S. leaders have slaveholding ancestors. Chronic shortage of redeeming features.
Tumblr media
Shoddy's line pretty much sums it up, but let's look at the special report a bit more.
In a special bit of adding insult to injury, it violates usability guidelines by hijacking scroll commands (mousewheel, arrow keys, etc) before we get to the main content. Here is the page as it looks when it first loads:
Tumblr media
And here is the page as it looks after I hit the Page Down key:
Tumblr media
These self-important theater kids made a fucking unskippable opening cutscene out of a fucking webpage. The Down arrow key does nothing here. The Page Down key pressed a second time merely advances the gradually revealing text by two lines, while changing the image's highlight. Page Down should skip me past the fucking image-video-hybrid-animation and move me down the page.
Then we get to the content. I shall excerpt and quote full paragraphs here.
More than 100 U.S. leaders – lawmakers, presidents, governors and justices – have slaveholding ancestors, a Reuters examination found. Few are willing to talk about their ties to America's “original sin”
Everyone Has Slaveholding Ancestors.
I can forgive the tweeter for being space-constrained and having to drop terms that can be inferred from context. The text in the full report (not headline), a page down, has no such excuse. Perhaps you say "it's obvious what they mean from context", but I assure you, it is not in fact obvious and the clarification further down is not the obvious one.
Many lawmakers need look no further than their own family histories to find a much more personal connection to slavery in America, a brutal system of oppression that resulted in the deadliest conflict in U.S. history.
Second deadliest, unless something very odd happened with WW2 since last time I checked. (Perhaps they're using a special metric like "deaths on American soil", I imagine.)
In researching the genealogies of America’s political elite, a Reuters examination found that a fifth of the nation’s congressmen, living presidents, Supreme Court justices and governors are direct descendants of ancestors who enslaved Black people.
And here's a clarification of "slaveholding ancestors", three fucking pages into the special report: ancestors who enslaved the Reverentially Capitalized Race. Doesn't count if they enslaved Persons of Pallor.
Except that paragraph is still wrong, descriptively and normatively. We'll see further down in the report that it's not counting the Africans who enslaved other Africans, such as Ayuba Suleiman Diallo. Or the extensive history of Islamic slavery, which via Andalusian intermarriage to the Spanish royal family and from there to the American colonies, results in a great many more descendants of people who enslaved persons-of-the-favored-race. Reuters put a great deal of work into studying a subject it frequently contradicts itself about the bounds of.
In addition, President Joe Biden and every living former U.S. president – except Donald Trump – are direct descendants of slaveholders: Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and – through his white mother’s side – Barack Obama. Trump’s ancestors came to America after slavery was abolished.
This is racebait, journalism delenda est, everyone who wrote this should be banned from public communication.
Two of the nine sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices – Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch – also have direct ancestors who enslaved people.
Everyone has direct ancestors who enslaved people.
I am going to keep harping on this for as long as Reuters keeps playing fast and loose with words. This special report online does not have the space constraints of a physical newspaper, nor does it have the time constraints of having to report on urgent news with a deadline tomorrow. It is written by supposedly professional wordsmiths with alleged editors and so-called fact-checkers. It has the leisure to get things right. It's welcome to use shorthand after getting things right (and preferably noting the shorthand), but Reuters has not gotten it right yet and will continue to contradict itself.
South Carolina, where the Civil War began, illustrates the familial ties between the American political elite and the nation’s history of slavery. Every member of the state’s nine-person delegation to the last Congress has an ancestral link. The state’s two Black members of Congress – Senator and Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott and Representative James Clyburn, a powerful Democrat – have forebears who were enslaved. Each of the seven white lawmakers who served in the 117th Congress is a direct descendant of a slaveholder, Reuters found. So too is the state’s Republican governor, Henry McMaster.
I assure you that everyone involved here has forebears who were enslaved and is the direct descendant of a slaveholder. If you're going to contrast the two, get the specifics right.
This is racebait, journalism delenda est, everyone who wrote this should be banned from public communication and have a finger cut off as a continual reminder of their sins.
Tumblr media
There's a bunch of specific people and degree of relation listed. I'll skip past them to see where Reuters is fucking around again.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll for this report suggests that a politician’s links to slavery might sway some voters. In a national survey, almost a quarter of respondents – 23% – said knowing that a candidate’s ancestors enslaved people would make them less likely to vote for that candidate. That number rose to 31% among respondents who identified as Democrats, and 35% among Black respondents. What’s unclear is how significant the topic is compared to race relations more broadly or other hot-button issues such as abortion.
Bold mine, Reuters really cannot keep this straight, this does not match their previous special report statements, and it also doesn't match the wording that was actually used in the poll. The poll respondents weren't given this whole special report for implicit context when they were asked:
“Would knowing that a political candidate’s ancestors or family members owned slaves in America make you more or less likely to vote for them?”

oooh bestie i just read your jasper gift-as-curse analysis (agree 100%!!! it fucks severely!!!!) and in your tags you mention thinking of all of the cullen "gifts" as curses and...i am going actively insane thinking about rosalie in that frame. like? her beauty carries over! and it's a curse in that people see that first and her second and assume that she's shallow...but also that was true in her human life as well and becoming a vampire seems like it maybe allowed her to transcend that and realize what was fucked up about her human experience??? WILD
Rosalie's gift is also a curse, but unlike Jasper's, i find it heartbreaking
it's a curse in that people see that first and her second and assume that she's shallow
VERY true. but the consequences of extreme beauty go beyond people chalking her up as shallow.
part of Rosalie's curse is that there are many aspects of her life where her looks play a role. & going through life requires either a degree of illusion or a degree of doubt.
for example: how many times as she been given— or been overlooked for— opportunities or merit because of her attractiveness? how many relationships has she tried to make, only to find the foundation of said connection was built on— or marred by— her looks? if Edward bothered to see past what he perceives as Rosalie's vanity, would they be closer as siblings? or, put another way:
In the first second that Emmett saw Rosalie, he saw a goddess whom he had worshiped without cease ever since. (Midnight Sun, Ch 6)
i'm not saying Emmett's love isn't real. but it's also clear he's immediately attracted to Rose physically; even decades later, their love is described as "intensely physical" (Ch 7). worshiping implies a degree of separation; there's a pedestal, a blindness, in the kind of love Emmett shows her. if she was average-looking, would he love her as she is, as an equal, without worship? would he even give her a second glance?
part of the curse is never knowing what's real. either she lives with a degree of doubt, or she lives with a degree of illusion.
another part of Rosalie's curse is that she also falls into the trap of seeing her face first and herself second. now, do i think Rosalie is vapid & a "stagnant pool of few surprises" (Ch 1)? no. she has a personality, she has hobbies outside of tending to or enhancing her beauty. but we do see her mesmerized with herself:
She’d caught sight of her profile in the reflection off someone’s glasses, and she was mulling over her own perfection. No one else’s hair was closer to true gold, no one else’s shape was quite so perfectly an hourglass, no one else’s face was such a flawless, symmetrical oval.
& we also see her play up her beauty in the vehicle she drives & the clothes she wears. she cannot look away from herself.
however, this is where i think we see yet another facet of Rosalie's curse. that is, being the most gorgeous vampire of the Cullens, there is a degree of intense scrutiny that comes with Rosalie's beauty. for all the illusion/doubt it brings her, she must be constantly aware of it. because this scrutiny is two-fold:
1) unlike someone like Alice who can pass as androgynous & is overlooked physically, Rose does not have the luxury of breaking traditional gender expectations lest she draw even more attention to the coven. in a sense, Rosalie is under more pressure to flawlessly perform the rituals of gender conformity because anything outside of the norm will be noticed more easily.
2) beyond that, the degree of attention she receives means she must constantly perform in a human sense, too: twitching, blinking, moving, behaving, etc. in this way, her looks become a hindrance to her vegetarian lifestyle.
so, she is cursed in that she's the face of the Cullen family & under pressure by the coven & society to perform. even if she wanted to escape her beauty, she cannot.
becoming a vampire seems like it maybe allowed her to transcend [her beauty] and realize what was fucked up about her human experience
but it kinda...didn't?
don't get me wrong, it did in some sense. as mentioned, Rose has picked up hobbies, dreams, & a personality. we do see her transcend her appearance; however, her beauty still traps her for the reasons above.
& to be honest with you bestie, it wasn't vampirism that allowed her to transcend her beauty. because if she had been turned, say, the day she got engaged, what kind of vampire would we see? her final days, her looks gave her everything she wanted, & now she ends up as the most ravishing creature on earth in the socioeconomic class she wanted. Rosalie wins. i'm not saying she would have wanted vampirism if she had been turned in better circumstances. but she would certainly be more divorced from reality, & i doubt she would find it as necessary to transcend her beauty since it got her what she wanted & confirmed her worldview.
it wasn't the vampirism that allowed her to transcend her beauty. it was the rape.
the rape tears the curtain back. the rape shows her all that glitters isn't gold. the rape teaches her that in the end, her beauty couldn't, & would never, save her. the rape tells her what a woman's place is in her world. the rape forces her to realize: for all Rosalie's beauty, she is awarded nothing, she is entitled to nothing, she can do everything right & still lose. the rape is what necessitated a change in Rosalie's beliefs.
i find Rosalie's curse heartbreaking because i do not doubt she has thought about this when she looks in the mirror.
she's more attractive now than ever, but that is what put her in that position in the first place. she's come to this horrific realization at an even more horrific cost. & everyone around her compliments how beautiful she is; everyone dreams about how wonderful their lives would be if only they could be so beautiful; everyone wishes they could be as beautiful as Rosalie Hale...
meanwhile, Rosalie sits with the uncomfortable idea that the thing that gave her everything she wanted is the same thing that led her to her rape, to her death— hell, Carlisle figured she'd make a good wife for Edward, so even her turning was a result of her beauty— & is now the very thing that traps her in a life she never wanted, performing eternally in a spotlight that will never dim.

Shipping is fun and all but why do the whole fandom makes it like VNC was about rotting for Vanitas to be with either Jeanne or Noe and sexuality ? It's not what the story is about, it's about Noe and Vanitas's story together and how Noé will end up killing Vanitas. Is it because it's also treating of their relationship that the fandom focuses so much on romance which is a very sub themed (after all in shounen romance is always a subplot, more or less underdevelopped)
I mean, when it comes to Vnc, I'm not so sure that the romance is underdeveloped, anon. I 100% get not caring about romantic shipping, and that's fair, but sex and romance are big parts of this story. I don't think it's unreasonable to be invested in them when they're very present in the manga itself.
You're right that shonen series in general tend to be very light on romance. However, a majority of shonen also don't have their characters very regularly engaging in a metaphor for sex.
It's pretty undeniable that the blood drinking in VnC is meant as a sexual metaphor. Sometimes this is played for horror (like Astolpho's backstory), and sometimes this is played for horny (like the VaniJeanne scenes), but it's almost always there. It doesn't mean that every instance of blood drinking is meant to symbolize literal sex, but both in-universe and in terms of symbolism, drinking someone's blood in VnC is an erotic act. And there's a lot of blood drinking.
With that said, given that these characters are constantly running around drinking and/or craving each other's blood, of course people are going to talk about romance a lot. "Which character wants which other character's blood?" is a huge driving factor for the character dynamics in this story. And there's a lot of straight-up discussion of romance as well!
You cannot talk about or analyze Noé and Dominique's relationship without talking about her massive crush on him. You cannot analyze Vanitas and Jeanne's relationship without talking about their mutual attraction and all the blood drinking scenes. You cannot fully analyze Noé and Vanitas's relationship without talking about how much Noé wants Vanitas's blood.
It may not be the norm for shonen, but Vnc is, objectively speaking, a series that puts a fair amount of emphasis on romance. It's not the main plot, but neither is it a clumsily handled background element like in Naruto or something. This is a series driven by the relationships between its characters first and foremost, and several of those relationships are canonically romantic and/or horny.
(Also, as a bonus fun fact, there's an interview with Mochizuki where she directly talks about how she wanted Vnc to focus more on both action and romance than her previous works).
And as for the Vanoé angle specifically, you're right. Vnc is the story of Noé and Vanitas's relationship. It's the story of how they meet, what they do together, and how/why Noé will eventually kill Vanitas with his own hands. And the thing about that relationship is that it is frankly fucking FULL of queer subtext. Like half the writing on this blog, for example, is about Noé and Vanitas's relationship, and not all of it is gay. Sometimes I talk about the death and tragedy angle, sometimes I speculate about the concrete plot details of what's to come, and sometimes I talk about how absurdly queer-coded Noé's whole "your blood smells amazing" routine is. It's not the only thing going on between them, not by a long shot, but it's there! And I think it's quite reasonable to discuss it.
So like, everyone engages in fandom differently, anon. It's fine to not give a damn about the romantic angle. I personally am almost incapable of caring about ships that aren't heavily implied in their canon sources, which makes me a bit of the odd one out in some fandom spaces.
However, speaking for myself again, this is a meta blog. More often than not, when I talk about romance on here, it's through the angle of examining what's there in canon. I find the relationships between the characters to be the most compelling part of Vnc, so that's what I write about. Sometimes that means writing about how Noé's constantly trying and failing to save his loved ones generally, sometimes that means writing about the history between Vanitas and Misha, and sometimes that means writing about how fucking in love with Vanitas I think Noé is.
I can't speak for others, but I personally don't think I'm reading anything into this series that isn't there. It's fine if it's not an angle you care about personally! I fully support you in blacklisting ship tags if the discussion of romance gets on your nerves. I cannot fucking stand "ship wars," so like. I get it. But "shonen usually doesn't care about romance" does not mean "all the people talking about romance in Vnc are doing it for no good reason."

Can you do hcs for Gotham! Jervis with a reader who is just down bad for him. like their all over him all the times and they like obsess over him and cry causE HES SO BEAUTIFUL
(not projecting onto reader I promise I promiseeeeee)
"You give me fever" Gotham! Jervis x Reader
You should 100% project. If you don't project, what's the POINT? Cringe culture is dead, carpe diem and all that. Have a good time!
TW: mentions of hypnosis, unhealthy dynamics mention, suggestive
At first he's a little... curious. Not that he doubts someone could be so enamored with him, but it's not the norm. Light flirting, a bit of word play here and there- But you. You're different. You're special in how you hang off his words.
He doesn't even have to hypnotize you! Oh how easy it would be to command you to be his everything, to DO everything and anything to please him. All without having to put you under. It's like a fever dream that gets him rather hot under the collar. oh, he wonders if you'd even object to be put under for a variety of things...
There is a part of him that likes lording it over the other rogues. Do you have someone this fixated with you? Of course, not. See, he's not the only one who shows his "love" this way! This will only encourage his own bad behaviors, I hope you know that.
TWO people obsessed with one another in a relationship? There is a bit of a concern for a folie-a-deux situation where the two of you get an unhealthy dependence upon one another and spiral into... not the best states, mentally speaking. Best make sure there isn't a ton of isolation and that the two of you have healthy boundaries and "me time", all things considered.
If you ever actually cried because of his beauty, he'd be taken aback. Perhaps this is bit of an extreme reaction, no? Yet, he's touched all the same, giving you his handkerchief to wipe away those tears. We mustn't lose our composure, Alice, or else you'll constantly be in a state of weeping!
On a lighter note, expect to become his favorite partner and plaything in every aspect. Matching outfits, themed outfits, just the dorkiest theatrical shit. You'll have lovely tea parties in gardens where you'll sit directly next to one another as he hand feeds you a candy or pastry. A sweet for his sweet!
And should anyone try to harm you or get between you... It probably won't end well for them. :)

Hali my beloved, I need to ask (for science ofc) - was GOTD!Yoongi actually inspired by „The Sandman”? If so, there are six other Endless siblings: Destiny, Death, Destruction, Desire, Despair and Delirium/Delight. If you were to assign the rest of the members any role as an Endless, how would you match them to the siblings?
Hi! So it was only in part inspired by that! I originally started writing it based on Lilith and the idea of reader not be accepted because the things she enjoys sort of make her a 'sinner' so wanting to be able to write, having an imagination, rejecting marriage, wanting to be an adventurer - all things that her family/town members thought she was super strange for and just in general didn't like her.
And then it's worse when she's associated with some sort of magic when she returns and how the town wards her off/regards her as evil just for living!
The inspiration from the Sandman came in late when I was in the middle of writing the first chapter. I was going to have Yoongi be a demon originally, but that didn't feel like where I wanted to take it as I started writing. I liked the idea of him being a misunderstood good that they think he's 'dark' just because he's involved with desire/dreams which have to do with the night!
The rest of the idea of eternal gods literally came form Marvels The Eternals and then I was like.. what things are like .. always constant, so I have: Dream, Chaos, Life, Death, Chaos, Fate and Pathos.
BUT if I were to base bangtan off of the book/show The Sandman, I think I would assign them as such:
Yoongi - Dream
Despite the fact that he has a dream motif in a lot of his songs, I think Yoongi was someone who dreamed a lot growing up but is also 100% comfortable with the absence of having a dream and I think that makes him the perfect dream.
Namjoon - Despair
Namjoon captures despair perfectly, I think Indigo was like really about the experience of being human and the nature of human emotion, and despair is like the rawest form of that
Seokjin - Death
The kind, inevitable being at the end of all things. Seokjin feels like someone who has always been a constant presence and is reliable, wise and at the end of the day, feels like he's always there.
Hoseok - Destiny
Hoseok just gives me destiny vibes - he is SO talented and his art in dance and lyricism and creativity is so captivating, I feel like he's an actual ace of of the music industry and feels sort of destined for art/creation so I feel like it works here.
Jimin - Destruction
Okay but hear me out - destruction in terms of breaking down barriers and norms. I think Jimin very often does the opposite of what people expect him to, and he is constantly destroying perceptions and always doing the unexpected.
Taehyung - Desire
Taehyung talks about desire a lot in his music and even the concept of longing for things and how he enjoys the feeling of longing, and I feel like that is really who he is at his core, he likes to desire things whether its love, family, success etc.
Jungkook - Delirium
Beside the fact that this man comes on live at 4 am to hangout with his millions of friends, I think that Jungkook is someone who enjoys living in his own world and loves being in his ideas and just sort of.. enjoying his life the way he wants to. It's not delirium in the sense of not understanding whats going on, but more like a constant state of in his own world.
Sorry this is so long, I hope all of this makes sense!

Why does sexuality have to suck so much.
There's so much morality and gender roles tied around it. And this weird element of game theory.
Men are expected to ask women out. Women are expected to give signals to men. Women do this because Men can be really scary. Men follow women home. They say sexual things to women that have already said they're married. This is the tamer side of how horrible and scary men can be. Also, because men have to ask women out, they are constantly doing it, and it really makes women want to engage with that even less. However on the flip side, women are human and still do want romantic partners. So if someone they're interested in is flirting with them in a way they like, it's a good thing.
It's this interaction that sucks. It's so confusing. You can almost never know if your advances are wanted or not. For every time where you're 100% sure the other person is flirting, there's like 10 similar times where they're not. And vice versa. There are so many times where you leave a situation and you're like oh my god they were giving the biggest signals!
This is why, as a kink friendly person I really prefer direct communication. No it's NOT romantic. It can be, but it takes some finesse to make direct communication flirty. And it's only as awkward as you make it. "Hi, I think you are attractive. I would like to go on a date if you're free." "Yes/no."
But it never actually works like that. The worst part is the look on someones face like "Oh my god gross is this person asking me out right now." And then the humiliation when they say no. There are so so many times where it can be cordial and you say oh well no problem it was nice meeting you! I hope the rest of your day is great. And then you leave. And it's not a big deal. But you can literally talk to two people in almost the same way and one will be flattered but not interested. And another will be horrified, disgusted, and or embarrassed.
Do I like asking people out? No it's a chore. It's embarrassing and people are embarrassed for you when they watch you do it. It also makes things super awkward. Like if you're convinced someone you know or interact with is interested in you and you ask them out, and they rebuke you, chances are, even if you don't feel awkward about it, they do, and it's "ruined things." Your workplace will be awkward. Or you can't go back to that store. Or whatever. Even if the interaction was legitimately "Hey are you flirting with me by any chance?" "No I am not." "Oh okay, no sweat, I couldn't tell."
I'm reasonably attractive and no one asks me out. It has literally happened to me two times. I remember them. I'm not feeling entitled to a galactic shift in social norms. It's just how things are.
And yes we can all get on dating apps. If I want to pay $20/month per app for enough swipes to get a few dates on a piece of software that is explicitly designed to addict me and lower my self esteem, sure. I can do that.
It just sucks. I don't know what else to say.
It sucks that we can't live in a world where if someone thinks you're cute there's a non invasive way to do it, that is explicit so both people are like yep/nope that happened, and that the aftermath of that really simple interaction isn't HOLY FUCK I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'VE DONE THIS.
It's fine if you don't want to date people you aren't attracted to! It's fine if you need to set boundaries with people who are being gross, scary, stalkery!
But like ugh. Hot men can honestly be really gross to women sometimes and it's welcomed. And non attractive men (to that woman) can be really normal and neutral and it's "gross and embarrassing".
I guess as an AMAB person, we should really work hard to unlearn a lot of toxic masculinity, teach consent, and learn how to be respectful and polite when engaging with people romantically. But like, it goes two directions. Please don't treat us like we're disgusting. Or at least start asking us out so we don't have to do all the heavy lifting. I'm really freaking tired of trying to figure out whether someone is giving out enough romantic signals that I should then go for the coin flip of asking them out that might result in them hating me forever.
I don't even know. Do I expect all 8 billion people on Earth to magically emotionally mature over night? No. I just want to rant about this so I can move on with my life and stop judging myself for other people's negative reactions to me when I'm doing my best to be a good person.

gege fridging yuki and now tsumiki. shoko, utahime, mei mei, momo, miwa disappering from the plot and now i dont think nobara is coming back after reading the newest chapter which would mean that her death was handled horribly 💀💀💀
i genuinely dont understand whats going on in jjk anymore tbh either like i stopped reading after 208 and your blog was how i found out about the tsumiki thing 😭😭 i wish gege wouldve atleast utilized her in the past chapters if the plan was to kill her because the impact just. isnt there. and like what was the point of yorozu??????? to show us that sukuna is strong?????????🤔 i will actually be surprised if gege turns all of this around but honestlyyyyyyy 😬 (1/2)
its a shame that gege doesnt know how to include female characters into the plot anymore because theyre all just interesting and have wayy too much potential.
like the idea of a character who only cares about money and could go as far to exploit their own sibling like mei mei or someone like shoko who is one of the few/only people in the world who can use rct to heal people (the fact that she was in the same class with the 2 strongest sorcerers in the world and she was never shown to be afraid of them or take their shit) or someone like yuki who was the first special grade in their generation and also an spv??? (if this had been revealed during HI arc the drama would increase tenfold...) OR TSUMIKI omg this one frustrates me so muchhh like she had SO SO SO MUCH BUILD UP AND FOR WHAT??? this girl had to get into the role of a parent for her younger brother because toji sold him and left them and her mother abandoned them and left. SHE IS ELDEST DAUGHTER CODED (so much so that her perspective and feelings during a traumatic situation are never explored because shes fine if shes hardworking and doesnt complain *cough*minari*cough*) imagine going through all of this at such a young age and having to adapt constantly and pick up the pieces alone because the have to keep living. like if megumi was too young to be going through all of that SO WAS SHE????? she deserved wayyyyyy better i could go on for hours about this but. yeah 😭😭😭 basically theyre all characters who've got their own agendas and it wouldve been so much better if already existing characters had been explored rather than 1098274 new characters being introduced. i miss plant trio. nobara balanced out fushiguro's emo angstyness by bullying him. oh well atleast we have maki 😍😍😍 (2/2)
no i agree with you 100% jjk had so much potential to have active and important female characters with agency in the beginning of the manga where akutami was still tying characters into world building. i think that made people (like me) hopeful for a deconstruction of gender norms and dynamics in the jujutsu world that would propel the female characters forward instead of letting them stay one dimensional but it looks as if that's what ended up happening anyway. once again i don't think akutami is intentionally sidelining them if that means anything i just think his planning and organization is off (not enough time given to develop characters other than megumi and yuuji) and that he bit off more than he could choose (having a large cast of characters). which is such a shame bc he could be doing so much more with them!!! like the narrative giving shoko the spotlight for like 2 seconds isn't even a step in the right direction it's the bare minimum!!! it's something we should've gotten during the shibuya arc!!!
also yes. i will die mad about yuki tsukumo and tsumiki. they could've been saved idc idc killing off one of the strongest female characters in your series is just plain WRONG. and tsumiki deserved to live my god.......NOT ANGEL. TSUMIKI. AGHHHHHHHH.

first time requesting hi !! i know this isn't your usual writing request but i am starving for more of your ocs so could i please get some mark and connie content ? tell me about how they'd pursue a love interest and how they'd act in a relationship >:) and yeah we've already seen how mark flirts but i am absolutely rabid for him so MORE MORE MORE
ok ok yep absolutely!! in light of recent events in the newest chapter of my long fic i am more than happy to go wild about mark because he is my babygirl ;-;
connie's pretty easy to answer for. she only has one love interest, and that is eddie. she has lust interests, but they really don't go any further than her staring and screaming internally at people she thinks are pretty (ivy, johnny charisma, jack ryder... she's me). her plan of action with eddie was to stick around long enough that he just got used to her, and she imagines she succeeded. in reality, he loves her dearly and didn't need to "get used" to her, he liked having her around from the start, even if he was hesitant to admit it ;-;
OK OK SO BABYGIRL EXTREME, MARK <3
flirting
he's a pretty confident guy, i think it comes with the line of work. no one wants a hesitant goon
he flirts with everyone. constantly. he doesn't even realise he's doing it, he just has that kind of face and charm that makes everyone assume he's into them
but the key to knowing if he's genuinely interested in you is nicknames
like he'd almost immediately give anyone he was into a petname/nickname
also verbal flirting is like second nature to him, but physical flirtation is 100% reserved for people he is into
if he's holding your hand, or grabbing your waist to pull you closer, or hugging you, or placing his hand on your lower back then he's smitten
if he's really trying to amp it up, he'll let himself be 'cringe' in front of you
no one apart from the people he's slept with know that he plays guitar, because they're only ones he'll serenade (so cheesy, but impossible to hate)
pursuing a love interest
he can be a little bit relentless, because his usual method of letting someone know he's into them is spending a lot of time with them whenever possible
so even if he's not asking you on a date outright, you'll be asked out for walks or drinks or lunch or anything pretty regularly
saying that though, he lets things happen naturally
he's not really a dater, explicitly
like, you're not going to feel awkward at a romantic dinner or pressured in the back row of the cinema
it's just hanging out as friends until he catches you off guard with a slight grin, followed by a kiss that he made you lean into before you even knew what was happening
in a relationship
it's either a positive or a negative, depending what you're preferences are, but it's sort of just an intimate friendship
he's not a hugely romantic guy, being in a relationship is an extension of dating and nothing more. like there's just the addition of exclusivity and regular sex
he's not particular about rules or norms, he'll have you move in with him pretty quickly
he's also easy to be around. he's tidy, fairly organised, and he's a good listener
but he's not going to propose to you, that's for losers. who needs to pay money to make their relationship official? no thank you
he's also extremely comfortable with his lifestyle and where he is right now, so that might get stale if you're looking for literal adventure
if you're just looking for fun and someone a bit exciting who is also dependable and not too risky, he's perfect
bonus sex headcanons
he's not hugely adventurous sexually, although he's not vanilla either. like he will finger you in a public place, but he's not into any specific kinks beyond lingerie, spanking and maybe a teensy bit of daddy stuff
he is hung though, and he knows how to use what god (me) gifted him with
like we're talking 8 inches of uncut meat babe, and he's super good with it. gentle and careful, but rough if you want him to be
he also eats pussy/ass super sloppy
and he's very vocal
he's super whiny when he cums, and despite the fact that during sex he's all grunting and growling, he moans like a soprano at the climax

I saw this post by @anarchist-luke and I just wanted to add on. And decided it would be best as a post than a reblog.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer, no where in my post and my claiming this is a “privilege” of hypervisibility but rather simply “anti-transmasculinity” or whatever you would like to call it.
Yes I do think this is the case every time violence against transmacs is reported. Reports like this are CONSTANTLY given less attention because the queer community tends to respond to it less. This is directly tied to our framing as the "less oppressed trans group".
This assumption automatically makes our problems not seen as a priority. You would think it would be easy to change this attitude within the community right? Just show them a couple of articles and BOOM we've proven them wrong right? No. And you know why? It's because we are framed as "the less attacked group" BUT NOT the "the group who never ever ever attacked", so even if I DID bring up even 100 articles! This perspective already has a quick an easy excuse. And what’s that excuse? That It's a fluke of the norm, an outlier, a "rare occurrence". Because when you constantly perpetuate rhetoric that transmascs are not attacked as much and you see it happen, yeah, it'll definitely feel like a fluke. "Everytime a transmasc gets attacked, it MUST be a rare occurence because according to my understanding of how trans oppression works, that's all violence against transmacs will ever be". Quite easy to brush aside no?
Nobody actually admits they're actively or even possibly subconciously ignoring violence against trans men, but it very much shows. You never see as much support for transmascs crowdfunds on twitter or as much likes and interactions for tweet discussing a situation where a transmasc is attacked. it's because again, WE ARE NOT SEEN AS AN EQUAL PRIORITY. And when you ignore these types of reports, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Yes, silence is in fact violence.
And you know what makes this worse? It's that BECAUSE people do not bring attention to these stories and reports due their predetermined assumptions, the one time a report slips in your bubble, IT REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE FLUKE! because they never hear about it!
I keep thinking that that the one big situation where the community as a whole paid attention when transmasc was attacked was about the one where a trans man was attacked after being forced to use the women's restroom. And I can't help noticing that the one time everyone gives a shit is the one where it gets immediately mislabeled as "trans man who was assumed to be a trans woman gets attacked!!!" when no where in the original article was that mentioned....
I don't think it's the individuals themselves seeing post about transmawcs and going "no I don't care about trans men so I will intentionally ignore this" but rather the attitude of the queer community has towards transmascs created this problem. This is not an individual problem about a community problem. And because of this, every time a queer person sees some terrible situation happening to a trans man, instead of giving it's deserved sympathy and attention, it will always be "well at least it's not a trans woman".

Do you think part of the reason that some people hate Mary so much is because they're annoyed the press keeps calling Freddie bi? (I know he was gay.) It's not Mary's fault but it's like, yeah let's hate her to cement he was definitely not bi.
I've actually thought about this, and I think your take is quite relevant.
There's a lot of emphasis, especially after the movie, of fans to want to categorically reject the idea of Freddie being bisexual. It's almost vitriolic at times. Not that I don't agree that Freddie was unequivocally gay, but I also don't think he would have labeled himself so stringently as we are wont to do today. I think he would have been more interested in actually just ... living his life, rather than needing to constantly define himself as such.
Now, I think labeling one's identity can be super important for people, and I don't mean to deny that. But our eagerness to label every single aspect of our identities is a fairly new phenomenon. And it's my personal, unpopular opinion that Freddie wouldn't have been too fussed about people calling him bisexual. I do not think he would have been as offended as certain people are on his behalf. I know the reason people have such a fit over it, because they believe it's some sort of erasure of his gay identity, but it gets a little overboard sometimes.
Anyway, back to Mary.
I've wondered if people are so adamant to eschew Mary in order to somehow solidify that Freddie was 100% bonafide gay. He couldn't have possibly loved a woman in a way that was beyond sex or romance---that she couldn't have possibly meant something to him besides just getting his dick hard.
I mean, sometimes I wonder if these people have ever had an actual complex human relationship. It's not always black and white, not always so easy to categorize. Am I saying she was the love of his life? No! But I'm also saying he loved her in his way, and she loved him in her way. We don't have to be geniuses to figure out that a gay man can love a woman and not be bisexual.
The only real reasons we have for hating Mary, as far as I know, come from maybe a paragraph (in total) written by Jim and Phoebe, right? Which indicate how she acted or reacted after Freddie's death? The things that she supposedly said that have been analysed and picked apart and misconstrued. I mean, even if she is a great big bitch, damn...I can be a great big bitch sometimes, too. Give us bitches a break, huh?
I simply don't see the evidence that suggests she was such a tremendous homophobe that she's painted to be. Has she said some things that I wouldn't say? Yes! So has Freddie, tbh. I mean, let's be real in thinking Freddie wasn't always the most PC gentleman in his time. And I'm not excusing those kinds of things by saying "but it was the olden days" because listen... we can't excuse that because of the time period. There were always people who were tolerant and accepting, even back in the time period when it wasn't the social norm. BUT, I simply don't have any concrete evidence of Mary being a mega-cunt. *shrug*
Moreover, I simply don't care enough about her to even bother going to such lengths.
So, as for your suggestion: I think it could have some notes of truth to it!
