#ive talked a lot about helmets lately oops #i guess i just rly have an obsession with how they're an extension of the driver #and a representation of them and their only sense of personality and individuality when theyre all geared up #so theres something to me about the separation of helmet from driver like in these pics #of course theres pics of the helmet on its own for model kinda pics(like all the pics i used for my past project posts)#but this is its own genre. helmet doing its own thing. helmet away from the vicinity of its owner #helmet being protected from the elements. it has its own carrying bag. it gets an umbrella. etc etc #the first pic made me on the lookout for pics w a similar vibe. This is going to be such a weird and long ask, but what do you think of Michael Jackson as a dancer? I knew he was a great performer, but I was really surprised that he was crowned as one of the best dancers by Fred Astaire, despite the fact that Jackson was not a professionally trained dancer. For context, before stumbling on your blog (which I'm very grateful for between) I always thought that, usually, main dancers in a kpop group were on the same level as professional dancers, so when you explained the real gap, it made me think of how we view performers like Beyonce and Michael Jackson as some of the best dancers, but I don't know whether these comparisons are made with only other singers in mind, or if they really are considered among the best dancer, including professional dancers. Your thoughts?

oh no michael jackson was the real fucking deal. his body control was insane he is legit one of the greatest dancers of all time. it's also important to remember that michael jackson was a street dancer, which was a form that was quite literally growing with him. of course he wasn't professionally trained as a dancer; at what school?? nowadays we have dancers who are professionally trained in hiphop, popping, locking, and other types of street dance, but as a form, these genres are probably only about 50-60ish years old; tony gogo (who worked WITH mj) is still alive and occasionally working. michael jackson was a HUGE part of the reason why schools for street dance even exist at all, bc he was the one who made the form popular. he's the blueprint for the pop star, the reason why we even HAVE kpop in the first place. the thing about the performing arts is that because there are so many aspects of it, you're almost always going to find someone who has better technique in some way; yes there are better dancers than michael jackson now, just as there are better singers, better musicians, etc etc etc. but art isn't about technique, it's about what you DO with that technique, what you make with it, and how influential you become. when someone is recognized as being the 'best', it's always a combination of skill, artistic ability, and influence, and that's something that other artists will always acknowledge.

#especially when you get into the field of pop performance influence is a HUGE part of legacy #i feel like ppl are only familiar with mj's music videos and like.....his dance breaks during live performances are soooo #like go watch the dangerous live at wetten dass 1995 perf that shit is wild (and i think you will find looks very familiar *cough taemin*)#non kpop questions #like mj was for sure an actually talented dancer but there's always going to be a difference between him and like. idk.#someone who only dances a specific genre and does nothing else.#like probably most popping dancers that compete/battle are ''better'' than mj. but that's a flawed metric to judge on #bc theyre not doing the same thing #its like boa. is she a very talented dancer? absolutely. is she the best? no of course not. but professionals will still cite her influence #text #answers #and rain. and taemin. all talented all considered the best in their fields all cited influences #but you will ALWAYS find someone who is better #there's def like a preoccupation with technique that happens in arts fields bc ppl try to make the comparison with other non arts fields #like in a science-based field having perfect technique IS how you are the best #like the best surgeon is the one who does things textbook perfect right? you wouldnt want a surgeon who plays fast and loose with rules #but you can't carry that same logic into art. it doesnt work like that #and its not really something that i blame people for assuming bc not everyone is an artist #but it is an important thing that more ppl should be aware of

thinking of (once again) trying to do the switch to bluetooth earphones.........😓

#not ideal at all im a wired earphones til death but...my current ones' cable got super fucked up for some reason and only one of them works #and i fear it will stop working soon so im looking into earphones prices to get new ones #and ive been thinking...as much as i love them and prefer them... theyre very inconvenient when im out of the house because i dont #wear clothes with good pockets most of the time so i dont have anywhere to put my phone if i wanna listen to my tunes out in the street #unless im in the bus where i can carry my backpack close enough to me that i can put my phone in one of the pockets and be comfortable #its also inconvenient when i go to sleep bc i like sleeping with music on but as much as i love the geting choked by the cable thing #its probably one of the reasons why the cable got so fucked up in the first place #but of course bluetooth earphones also have a lot of cons #like having to charge them ???? and then the battery only lasts not even 3 hours i think #which is insane #then its also easier to lose them or imagine if im out on the street and one falls of???? im super terrified of that #wired earphones are more secure #again. both have many pros and cons so idk #would love to know if anyone has an opinion on this #the difference in the price is not that big so it's the same on that front idrc #cami.txt

and like at first glance mando armor all looks strikingly similar but then you look closer and you realize theres so much variation like even just in the helmet designs you have different little variations in the visor shape, the fucking "cheek indent" shape, the forehead, the ear pieces, etc and then it comes down to like well how much of that can be personal customization, and then what can you potentially say about the person inhabiting the armor by just the armor design? if the helmet is their face, then what does the helmet portray about their personality? but then i also love the idea of like actual mandalorian families who pass on certain armor characteristics like maybe this one family carries on this one specific visor shape or whatever, so despite it being armor you can still somehow see familial resemblance between them. idk i just think its neat. lol

#which is why i haaaate the fact that the different primary visor shapes are gendered #by which i mean the standard T shape and then the like cat eye thing #but here im also talking about even little variations in the standard T like look at the difference between din paz and boba #they all have the T but its all different right like theres differences .#but i wish the standard T and the cat eye were not a gendered binary bc 1. fuck that i hate it #isnt armor so beautiful because anyone can be inside there U_U why must we create another binary U_U #but also 2. it prevents so many more opportunities for even more variation in helmet designs #like a while ago i made an edit where axe woves had a cat eye visor on his helmet #and so then you can say that that helmet design signifies the whole bokata/koska/axe alliance going on bc theyre all part of the same #group and carry that on their armor together #but NOOOOOOOOO. men cant HAVE cat eye visors bc uwu its FEMININE and for WOMEN ONLY !!!!! -______-#anyway so not only are there variations even on the primary visor designs like the difference between boba paz and din in the T design #but then imagine if there was similar diversity in the cat eye design also like the different angles it can tilt at or the different #specific shapes to the arched parts etc #right like theres just so much you can do with it and its fun to think about but then making it a gender binary is so fucking annoying #brot posts #mando posting

Soo, uhh, what's the story on how kankri got his sign and all? As an ancestor lover, I'm curious about what happened to kankri's ancestor. Was it one of feferi's first instances of being a cruel empress? (idk if that's what I should say, but oh well) Does kankri have a vague idea of what happened (if something bad did happen) like how karkat had an idea of what happend to the sufferer/signless?

the symbol came from the same place - the irons that bound the signless hand, but how it came to be is a pretty different story.

im trying to think bout it from the classpect angle - like how in canon the signless was post scratch kankri, so his abilities as a seer of blood allowed him to get glimpses from his pre scratch life, which inspired him to try and change things for the better. but in the au, its karkat who's in the role of the signless, and he aint no seer, hes a knight, he protects with his aspect and protects his aspect. i think the blood powers would carry some memories as well, maybe not so clear like how it was for kankri, but karkat would get the vague feeling of this is wrong.

i think hed see what feferi as empress was trying to do, and would be like "wait a fucking minute she just tries to treat lower classes like some kind of animals that have to be under care of highbloods" and hed be PISSED bc hed rather die than have some highblood asshole coddle him his whole life just bc of his blood mutation.

so hed be like "actually fuck you and fuck the monarchy" and hed start preaching bout the better world where all the blood castes have a say in how their society works (like how it was on tb!beforus) and karkats really good at getting people to follow him. so thats how the movement against the empress would start, and when the news about the revolution would reach feferi she would be pissed then, bc she wants a better life for them and this is how theyre repaying her, by wanting to overthrow her?? and it spirals from here into karkats execution and feferi becoming more and more paranoid

as for if kankri knows how things went, well he does! he gets visions of his past and future selves through dreams, some are nice, but most of the time theyre terryfying (so he just,, stops sleeping). its a mix between his time on beforus and how society was like there, some of karkats memories as the signless get into it too as they're kinda bound by blood ie. the ancestry stuff, and also he gets some visions of the post-game on earth c! those are his favourite. im thinking hard bout everyones aspects, i also liked the idea of kankri being able to "sense" past and future relationships between ppl (for example he can vaguely tell when ppl have history between them and if its positive or not, or he just gets one look at roxy and porrim and goes "yeah theyre gonna be insufferably in love"), its all a work in progress tho!
