It was a really busy day in London, therefore also in the house of Hellman. Employees were scurrying around in the enormous fashion house, dressing mannequins, and restocking clothes. It was one of those days when the Baroness decided to show up in the store, making everyone a nervous mess. She wasn’t known for going easy on people, especially not when it concerned her fashion.
You were busily trying to set up her office, organising refreshers and snacks for her upcoming meetings, the Baroness expected nothing but perfectionism. As her assistant, it was your job to fulfil these needs. You clumsily tried to light the candles in the golden candleholder, the last thing for the ambience to look neat. A few deep breaths later you decided that your job was done, for now. When the Baroness arrives there would be greater tasks than her office, and for that you would have to prepare yourself now.

An hour later, a black, almost carriage-looking, car stopped in front of the store. You hurried to the gates of the fashion house, greeting your boss. Her lips were painted a deep maroon red, whilst her pompous dress swayed with every step she took. The woman radiated power and wealth. You gulped as soon as her eyes landed on you, her mood wasn’t pleasant, to say the least. The baroness flicked her wrist at you, motioning for you to follow, and with her head held high, the fashion icon strode through the tall glass doors. You hurried to her side, trying to keep up her pace. “Good morning”, you quickly said and tried for a clumsy smile. The baroness shot you a quick glance, scoffed and took in the scene of her scurrying employees. “Only use ‘good’ if the morning actually is”, she advised snarly and pursed her lips. Her rather analysing look applied to a certain young woman who was white as a wall when she spotted her boss.
Every time you saw the baroness, your heart clenched slightly, not exactly knowing why since she never did more than make people feel small. But something in you tended to like her a little more than you should.
All the things she wanted to restock, a little leather handbag, and a pile of clothes, fell to the floor when the Baroness’ blue eyes pierced through the young girl. To say that the poor woman was petrified would’ve been an understatement. “What are you looking at? Pick those up!”, Baroness von Hellman barked and pointed to the scattered clothes on the floor, “And make sure they’re clean.” Her voice was sharp as a knife. Then she turned to you, eyeing your being for a moment, long enough to ask yourself if something was wrong with your appearance. “Is my office ready for my meeting at 2?”, she asked snidely and put her hands on her hips.
“Everything’s ready. Mr Kohl will bring new designs”, you replied curtly and nodded. The Baroness rolled her eyes. “So be it, I’ll be in my office”, she announced to you and turned to walk off. A breath of relief, that she was at least somewhat pleased, escaped your lungs. However, the next thing you heard was a loud ‘For heaven's sake!’, your eyes shot in that direction, only to see the baroness lying on the floor, hissing and visibly appalled. You ushered over kneeling next to her. It appeared, that the young employee forgot to pick up the black leather bag, over which the baroness tripped and fell.
“Are you alright?”, you asked and reached out your hand to help her get up. “Don’t touch me”, she hissed. You scowled in response and slowly retrieved your hand, and scooted backwards to give her a little more space. The baroness clumsily tried to get up herself but failed miserably. Your eyes scanned down to her ankle, seeing it was visibly swollen. “It’s turning blue, just let me help you get up?”, you repeatedly asked and your expression softened. It was visible on her face that she contemplated accepting your help. Then she reached out her hand for you to take it. However, getting her off the floor took a little more than just her hand. You gently held her by the waist, helping her get up and while doing so, your cheeks flushed slightly. “Make sure she gets fired”, Baroness von Hellman hissed and her grip around your waist tightened, steadying herself. “Now bring me to my office”, she caustically snarled nudging your body to move forward. Her warm hands clutching your hand on her waist, for reasons that weren’t clear to you. 
It might’ve looked somewhat ungraceful but the two of you managed to get into her office without any more incidents. After placing her on her office chair, you pulled a small stool underneath her injured ankle to prop it up. “I’ll get someone to bring ice”, you announced, already making your way out of the door again. “Can’t you do it?”, she asked snarkily. You turned around, eyes widened at her sharp request. “I meant, can’t you please do it?”, The Baroness corrected herself and sounded a tad bit softer. “Of course, I’ll see what I can do”, you replied and excused yourself.
And some time later you reappeared in her office with a pack of ice in your hands. The Baroness’ looked like she yearned for the coolness on her ankle. You gently placed the ice on her injured spot and took a step back. “That shall do it”, you mumbled and brushed some hair out of your forehead.
There were a few long moments of silence before Baroness von Hellman decided to speak up again. “Thank you”, she said, not looking up from her papers. “You’re welcome”, you replied curtly and turned to go, wanting to prepare the staff for the afternoon Rushhour. “I mean it, thank you”, she repeated with a little more force. It was unlike her to thank someone and even more to actually say it twice. “It’s fine, no worries”, you replied carefully, not knowing if this was a trap. Then the Baroness finally decided to look up at you she waved you over to her desk. “You were the only one to rush over and help me, I owe a ‘thank you’”, she remarked and held your gaze, “Everyone else was too afraid to even ask if I was alright.”
Everything she had said was true, her employees were far too scared to even look directly into her eyes not to mention go up and help her. The longer she looked at you the more you realised that her expression had grown softer. “I just wanted to know that you’re taken care of, I wouldn’t have liked to see you in pain when I was right next to you.” It looked like the baroness was taken aback from your sudden heartfelt words, a subtle smile tugged her lips. “Come back later”, she then said with no hint of mockery or disdain, “And fire that lady with the bag.”

I'd recently gone into a Cruella (2021) rabbit hole after seeing a clip of it on Tiktok yesterday. It reminded me of how there was this ... something between the Baroness and John that sparked my interest. I hurriedly ran to AO3 to hopefully find a fic that explores their dynamic and found only 6 fics in the Baroness von Hellman/John (101 Dalmatians) tag. Of those 6 fics, 2 have captured my attention and I have been stuck in that headspace ever since!
The headcanon that John is actually Estella/Cruella's biological father has me in a chokehold and prompted me to rewatch the movie to view it through the lens of "What if the Baroness and John were lovers of a sort?" What if the reason why John, who was for so many years loyal to the Baroness, betrayed her for Estella/Cruella was because he knew she was his child?
It also interests me how the Baroness threw a fit upon finding out she was pregnant. Also at this point, I'd like to interrupt myself to interject that this was all narrated from Cruella's perspective so there are missing pieces in the picture puzzle to consider. From that angle, her actions would make sense - aside from how she's labeled a narcissist and all.

Cruella (2021)
Directed by Craig Gillespie, this movie is a live-action prequel to the 1961 animated Walt Disney film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (and the 1996 live-action retelling), starring Emma Stone in the titular role.
Other stars of the film include: Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry and Mark Strong. The canine stars include: a mutt named Buddy, a chihuahua named Wink and a trio of Dalmatians.
The movie is an origin story/reimagining of the life of an aspiring fashion designer named Estella, who develops a nefarious ego by the name of Cruella. The film is also focused on the rivalry between her and highly esteemed fashion tycoon Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson) as well as her association with thieves Jasper (Joel Fry) and Horace (Paul Walter Hauser).
This particular film has two Emmas that are unbelievably enthralling. Emma Stone is both superb as Estella and extravagant as Cruella. She plays the two sides of her character in a way that’s irresistibly exciting to watch. What’s more, in terms of character development, Stone’s version of Cruella (though still a wicked genius) is more human as a calm, reserved person, unlike the shrieking, maniacal villain of the original story. At the same time, Estella’s ambitions are somewhat similar to Abigail Hill in The Favourite. Emma Thompson is incredibly brilliant as head of the fashion industry whose narcissistic behavior is somewhat reminiscent to Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada. She even plays a central role in Estella’s transformation into Cruella. Together, Stone and Thompson fasten their horns for a two-woman show (as opposed to a one-woman show) where their characters engage in an artistic competition to become fashion legends. Even Paul Walter Hauser (who speaks in a Cockney accent) is quite hilarious as Horace tries to figure out “the angle” of Estella’s main purpose in life.
As for the dogs, they each have a trait equivalent to the personality of each owner. Buddy, a stray adopted by Estella, assists her daily activities. He is also proof that Cruella isn’t a dog killer (as many people assume). Wink is the pickpocket of the group as he can easily steal wallets to help Estella, Horace and Jasper finance their self-made business. The Dalmatians not only harken back to the animated movie, but as the Baroness’ pets, they are expressive (through CGI) as they are pretty vicious around strangers, hence Cruella’s strange fascination of them. On that note, a few references to the animated movie are shown. One example is Horace watching dog owners who appear to resemble their dogs. Hint: keep an eye out for some more in a mid-credits scene.
Although Disney has been relying on a specific number of visuals for each live-action remake, this one revolves mostly around the costumes. The story begins with Estella born in the signature black-and-white hair of Cruella. As she matures, she dyes her hair red to conceal her identity while dressed in cool punk outfits. When Emma Stone is first seen as Cruella, she is literally black, white and red all over. As Cruella begins to take over, Estella wears flamboyant clothing as a symbol of the fiercely provocative artistry of her alter ego. She’d even use her Cruella persona to upstage the Baroness at every fashion show, gaining notoriety from her childhood friend Anita Darling, a gossip columnist. The Baroness wears divine attire (especially Dior) as a symbol of dominance and establishment. Her hair is done in numerous styles as well. The overall design of each clothing won the film an Oscar for Best Costume Design.
The story takes place in 1970s London during the punk rock movement. Every background reflects the delinquent lifestyle of Cruella in terms of culture. The setting even represents the cutthroat environment of Estella’s upbringing (which director Craig Gillespie included in a previous directorial project known as I, Tonya). She was originally the subject of ridicule, pushing her to total madness, before she finds herself orphaned as a child. She then turns to a life of crime with Jasper and Horace, becoming an expert in grifting. Her fashion skills not only help her survive, but she is able to thrive. When Estella is hired to work for the Baroness, who runs a glamorous yet intimidating business, she plays the role of devoted employee while concocting different schemes to take down her boss/rival.
The soundtrack contains a collection of hit songs from both the ‘60s and ‘70s. The track list includes: “Whisper, Whisper” by The Bee Gees, “She’s a Rainbow” by The Rolling Stones, “Five to One” by The Doors, “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone, “Fire” by Ohio Players, “Stone Cold Crazy” by Queen, “Car Wash” by Rose Royce, “One Way or Another” by Blondie and “Should I Stay or Should I Go” (an ‘80s song) by The Clash, to name a few. Cover versions of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”, “I Wanna Be Your Dog”, Nat “King” Cole’s “Smile” and “Come Together” are heard, too. In addition, an original song titled “Call Me Cruella” by Florence and the Machine is featured.
Finally, the real meaning of the film is to observe the iconic Cruella from a different perspective to really understand the story of her fabulous, outrageous life. Without a single doubt, I highly recommend this appealing, madly entertaining movie to every Emma Stone/Cruella de Vil fan.

The Schoenheit Family
Vil throughout his vignettes has a pattern of mentioning his father often. It is very obvious that he loves his dad and respects him very much as he shaped him to be the person he is now. This naturally contrasts a lot with the way Vil talks about his mother. While his dad is mentioned regularly there was absolutely no mention of his mother up to his broomquet vignette which has yet to appear in EN. Not only did Vil never mention her before that vignette but he is also very brief, stating that he doesn’t know her nor does he care to.
Before this vignette was released I assumed that maybe his mother had died when he was young and he only knew her through his dad and very little from memory which was why he didn’t mention her at all but I found the way he spoke about her not fitting for that explanation. Of course, this is just speculation from me but I figured that if his father had a close relationship with his mother, he probably would have wanted his son to remember her fondly like he did which in my opinion doesn’t make sense with what Vil said. The way that I read Vil’s vignette to me showed disinterest towards his mother which I wouldn’t be surprised comes from history with her he doesn’t wish to disclose.
My headcanon for her is that she dated his father for a while and the relationship was kept as lowkey as they could which is realistically not possible when you consider how seemingly famous Eric is. She then got pregnant with Vil and decided to keep him right until he was born. She finds herself fearing that her child will outshine her eventually and refuses to compromise her career. So she leaves Eric and Vil behind. She would be based on Baroness Von Hellman, Cruella De Vil’s mother. So you guessed it she was never a good person, though I don’t imagine her as antagonist as Cruella’s mother. Now with Vil and Eric’s level of fame, I don’t think that her identity would be a secret. While I can imagine it could potentially stay unconfirmed. I am pretty sure that speculations would surround Vil’s mother’s identity throughout his life.
I imagine that his mother is a fashion designer just like Baroness Von Hellman. Therefore Vil is bound to encounter her. So I think his father would reveal her identity to Vil. Also because of Vil’s success in the fashion industry, he worked with her multiple times. However, they both don’t acknowledge their biological ties to each other. So to Vil he does not in fact know his mother nor does he care to and neither does she.
I don’t think Vil hates his mother. Of course I think he would have a certain awareness that it is someone who hurt his father and of course that would matter to him but I think both of them would rather not give any weight to her existence instead. I do really think he is detached about it and I think the way he answers would be a good way of saying this person is not relevant to my life which is why I don’t talk about her and that’s it.

Now that I’m taking a break from Morrigan’s designs, here’s a non-student oc that I’ve recently come up with! I’m not gonna lie, I was really inspired by this adorable CrewelxReader fic! It’s super cute 🤧
Crewel is one of my favourite non-student characters so I’m indulging a bit. It was also completely coincidental that Stella and Yuri have similar hair and eye colours! I didn’t realize it until I had already committed to Stella’s design 🙃
Anywho, here’s some info about Stella!
Stella is inspired by Estella Von Hellman; Cruella’s meeker personality from the 2021 live action Cruella
I chose Estella because I thought she would be a nice complimentary character to Crewel
Stella Crewel is Divus Crewel’s wife and business partner
Stella is usually a soft spoken and gentle woman. She can sometimes come off as shy at first, though in reality she prefers to step away from the spotlight unless it’s necessary.
However, this doesn’t mean Stella is a pushover or insecure. Shes actually very confident in herself, her position, and her abilities. She is more than willing to put someone in their place if they’re out of line, it’s just that she isn’t as impulsive as you might expect.
Stella is known to hide threats and insults behind sweet words and passive aggressive comments which tends to throw off people who don’t know her well.
Stella is also known to be an exceptional designer who’s often praised for her work, though she isn’t egocentric. While her visions almost always turn out how she wants them, Stella is humble enough to admit when something doesn’t work out.
I think the idea of Crewel having a fashion brand is very fitting for him, especially if the brand was established prior to him becoming a teacher.
Stella and Crewel originally split most of the work for the brand since they started it together. Now that Crewel is teaching at NRC, Stella primarily looks over things
Stella was born and raised in the Queendom of Roses, though like Epel, was raised in a small village rather than a bigger town.
I don’t have a name in mind for this little village but I imagine it’s a port town located near the edges of one of the island that make up the Queendom
The village is also rather poor, or at least poorer than say the town Riddle and Trey grew up in.
Because of this, Stella had very little growing up, though it’s made her learn to work hard for what she wants and to appreciate what she has.
Stella didn’t meet Crewel until after she moved out of her village when she was in her early teens.
Stella claims to have gone to a coed mage school that had boarding for the students.
She thinks the idea of gendered boarding schools are odd. This is likely because she’s always attended coed schools.
I don’t have a name for Stella’s mage school (I can’t think of a good one) but I imagine it’s a smaller school similar to Noble Bell College.
I imagine that there may be a “historical figure” based off Cruella di Ville (or maybe even the Baroness from the live action movie).
The statue would serve the same purpose as the Greate Seven statues at NRC or the "Jester Judge" statue at NBC.
Aside from its focus on teaching mages to control their magic, this particular school also has a big focus on fashion and the arts
A lot of alumni from this mage school go on to be well known in the arts, whether it’s fine arts, theater, fashion design, etc.
Stella was top of her classes while at school
Stella prefers to have a few good friends than have a lot of superficial friends
Aside from her husband, she only really has four close friends. Two of them are childhood friends from her original village (TWST!Jasper and TWST!Horace), one is a friend she made when she moved to the city (TWST!Anita Darling), and one is a friend she made while attending mage school (TWST!Artie)
Stella overall has a “quality is better than quantity” mentality. She’d rather have or make things that are good quality even if there isn’t much of it, than have/make a large quantity of things that are of poor quality.
Stella has alluded to knowing skills like lock picking and even pick pocketing, skills she likely learned in her early childhood.
While Stella primarily takes care of the fashion brand while Crewel is teaching, she will sometimes substitute for him if need be
I can’t imagine that Crewel would call out often. He gives me the impression that he knows what he wants from his students and has a certain way of doing things that he doesn’t trust others to accomplish successfully.
He’d much rather have a meeting rescheduled or push through like a mild cold than figure out sub plans 💀
BUT, on the rare occasion that Stella convinces Crewel to take a break and find a sub, she’s usually the one he asks to take over for him
Stella has only covered for Crewel a small handful of times, so many NRC students don’t know that Crewel is married.
It was Stella’s idea to invite Yuri to stay with them during holiday breaks following Jamil’s overblot
It wasn’t until Stella and Yuri were standing next to each other that Crewel realized how much they look alike
Ngl I think it would be really funny if Yuri was mistaken as Stella and Crewel’s kid, especially b/c I love the idea of Crewel being Yuu/the MC’s unintentional father figure 🤧
Stella is the one who dyed the white half of Crewel’s hair. They have little spa nights that include root touch ups for Crewel 💕
Stella and Crewel have three Dalmatians named Louis, Parada, and Versace. Louise was Stella’s dog prior to the marriage while Parada and Versace were Crewel’s dogs.
Louis is a mama’s boy and is the most sociable of the three dogs. Parada and Versace are Crewel’s little princesses 💕

And here she is! So fun fact, when I was coming up with Stella’s base sprite I kind of Frankensteined Leona, Epel, and Vil’s sprites. I like the position of Leona’s arms and Vil’s legs, but I liked Epel more as a starting point. Stella is a fair bit shorter than Crewel, so using a shorter character felt like a better choice.
I also really liked a lot of the costumes used in Cruella, I think a lot of Cruella/Estella’s outfits were really cool in the movie! Since I was basing Stella more on Estella’s character I used a few different pieces from Estella’s various costumes to come up with Stella’s outfit. Stella also wears more red and black clothes while white being more of an accent, compared to Crewel who’s has a predominantly black and white outfit with red as the accent. I thought it was fitting for red to be more prominent so it matched Stella’s hair colour. Stella’s earring is also a little call back to the animated Cruella’s iconic teal earrings!

“You’re fired!,” Y/n yelled at him in the abandoned Alley behind the House of Hellman. Miguel looked dumbfounded at her fearing that he might not be snapping back like he always does. “You can’t do that, I am their best employee!,” he argued. His eyes came a little bit out of its head. “I will do something very different if you won’t leave now.”

“Am I in trouble?,” Y/n looked pitiful in Elizabeth’s eyes. “Take a guess,” the Baroness shot her an evil glare. The girl wasn’t sure what to tell her, for her it was reasonable to fire Miguel for what he did. Of course he used to be a renowned Designer for the House of Hellman but that didn’t mean that everyone had to put up with his behaviour. “No?,” Y/n asked, hoping she wouldn’t be. Her girlfriend insidiously looked at the younger woman, not knowing if she was joking, and if she was, that wasn’t the right moment.“Take another guess,” Elizabeth snapped and finally turned around in her chair. “Listen Lizzie, I can explain!,” Y/n tried to defend herself. “Oh now I’m curious, explain yourself then Y/n,” Elizabeth flapped her legs up on her desk and pierced Y/n with an expecting look. “Miguel talked all this crap about you again, called you an old hag,” Y/n inhaled deeply before continuing her rambling, “I just couldn’t let him talk about you like that anymore. And since you made me the manager I kind of took advantage of that title.”
Slowly the Baroness walked over to Y/n from her table, positioning herself directly in front of her. “That’s very sweet of you to defend me, love. But he was pretty good at his job,” Elizabeth explained to her girlfriend and cupped her face in her hands. “You would rather have him talk like that behind your back?,” she asked confused and let her head rest in the hands of her girlfriend. “No, Miguel’s gone now. We’ll find someone else. But I’d rather have you ask me the next time before you fire one of our best employees,” Elizabeth replied and pecked Y/n’s lips. The anger left the Baroness’s body when her girlfriend explained to her why she cut of their best designer. No one had defended her even close like that in her life. “I’m glad I have you, Y/n.” “I’m glad I have you too, my Lizzie.”
