Watch Out, Boys ✷ cl16
✷ SECOND INTERLUDE OF THE TAMING OF THE HEARTBREAKER
━━━━━  PREVIOUS & NEXT !
in which... Y/N's invitation to the Miami GP means trouble !
Tumblr media
AS THE HALL & OATES' SONG GOES: "Watch out, boys, she'll chew you up." Because, if there's one thing we know, it's that putting Y/N L/N and 20 conventionally attractive men in the same place is never a good idea.
Yet, that is precisely what's going to happen in a few days at the Miami International Autodrome. The actress, who will play the iconic Barbie in Greta Gerwig's adaptation, has been invited by Ray-Ban to the Miami Grand Prix on May 8.
The news was announced on Ferrari’s TikTok account⏤which the eyewear brand sponsors⏤and has since then sparked numerous reactions. While these vary, one common thread stands out: the fear of havoc. Admittedly, L/N turns heads and sows discord wherever she goes.
Formula One is already a chaotic world, adding Y/N L/N and her shenanigans to the mix would only make it worse.
Since her list of actors waiting to be seduced is dwindling, this event presents itself as a bargain for the Academy Award-winning actress, who will only have to draw someone from 20 options to be her next prey.
If the possibilities are considerably reduced by one small element to consider⏤the WAGs⏤L/N has shown before that she is not above immorality when it comes to getting her way. Her affair with Harry Styles, even though he was rumoured to be in a relationship with Olivia Wilde at the time, is formal proof of this.
Hide your men, ladies, because The Heartbreaker is in town and ready to pounce!

✷ SEE ALSO ON LOVE CLUB... !
Y/N L/N named the highest-paid actress of 2021 by Forbes
"Name a more iconic character? You can't" Y/N on being cast as Barbie for Greta Gerwig's movie
Is Harry Styles cheating on Olivia Wilde with Y/N L/N?
Tumblr media
Of course, all eyes are now on the two Ferrari drivers, with whom L/N will spend most of her time (common sponsor dictates), and more particularly on Charles Leclerc, who is single.
It has been almost a month since the woman was last seen with anyone. A record! She's probably more determined than ever to get her hands on some fresh meat, and what better than a handsome, muscular driver who can speak French? We all know L/N's soft spot for the language of love. Her interviews remind us of it enough. So do her many French conquests.
We just hope that the actress' famous bedroom eyes will not trouble the Monegasque and make him lose his race. The fans of Il Predestinato would not react kindly to this.
He is, after all, one of the current favourites for the championship.
In any case, no matter what happens over the weekend, the outcome is bound to be interesting. Because, while her actions are open to criticism, Y/N L/N's impact is undeniable.
The woman is already the talk of the paddock and she hasn’t even set foot on it yet.

It's already a miracle that she hasn't tried to fuck football players yet, if she could keep this up with F1 it would be great.
Anonymous 38 minutes ago
I will never understand why celebrities who have nothing to do with F1 and probably don't give a shit about it either are invited to all GP. It's ridiculous.

There's something about Y/N that I just hate. It's physical at this point. I can only stand her in movies. Probably because she doesn't act like herself in those...

No, but I swear she really has a libido problem. This is the only explanation. She must be a nymphomaniac. Or just a whore. Or both.

Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor
I fell down a bit of a heraldry rabbit hole recently and decided to spend several hours compiling info about the Penvellyn family off the wiki and then used online heraldry resources to analyze their individual coat of arms. Did the game devs intend the shields to be interpreted this way? Probably not. But if I dont over-analyze 20 year old childrens computer games what else am I going to do with my life??
Here are all the people whose portraits hang in the great hall along with info we learn about them from Jane (and occasionally Nigel), their coat of arms, and my amateur interpretation of the symbolism.
Randulf ( - 1401)
Tumblr media
“Randulf the Red, so named for his bright red hair, was considered a hero at the Battle of Poitiers. For his heroism, King Edward III awarded him with the lands in the region called "Penvellyn". That's how we got our name.”
Randulf's coat of arms says "IN HOC SIGNO" which translates to "in this sign (you will conquer)"
Comet; unknown in heraldry but refers to the family treasure
Red; Military might, warrior.
(putting the rest under the cut to save you much scrolling)
Odo (1354 – 1404)
Tumblr media
“Yeah, he isn't very exciting, really. Liked farming and cows. His son Milo is much more interesting.”
“Those Manuscripts are very old and brittle. They date back to the 14th century. Odo Penvellyn collected most of them. His father Randulf and son Milo were rather more interested in military victories than in book collecting.”
Odo's coat of arms says "PROSPERITAS" which translates to "success".
Milo (1376 – 1423)
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
Deer/hart; One who will not fight unless provoked, peace and harmony
Tumblr media
“Milo inherited not only his grandfather's red hair but his military prowess. Milo was instrumental in the Siege of Caen and was awarded even more lands by Henry V.”
Milo's coat of arms says "VICTUM INVIDEO SILENTE" which translates to "the conquered shall envy the dead".
Hugo (1401 – 1466)
Comet; unknown in heraldry
Red; Military might, warrior
Teardrop; “One who has endured torrents”
Tumblr media
“Um, he had a lot of kids, and his dates were 1401 to 1466.”
Hugo's coat of arms says "CITO FIT QUOD DEI VOLUNT" which translates to "what the gods want happens soon".
Albert (1427 – 1508)
Bee; Industrious, diligent
Acorn; Antiquity, strength
Red; Military might, warrior
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
Tumblr media
“He was very mysterious and the people of Blackmoor were afraid of him because he knew all these scientific things. No one knows much about him, though.”
Albert's coat of arms says "TIMENDI CAUSA EST NESCIRE" which translates to "ignorance is the cause of fear".
Edmund (1447 – 1499)
Book (open); Manifestation, knowledge
Blue; Truth, loyalty
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
Tumblr media
“He was into cows. He did a lot of breeding of cows and sheep and got some kind of award from the King.”
Edmund's coat of arms says "UT SEMENTUM FECERIS ITA METES" which translates to "As you sow, so shall you reap".
Charles (1478 – 1553)
Hawk (Falcon): One who does not rest until objective achieved, purpose, goal-oriented
Red; Military might, warrior
Blue; Truth, loyalty
Tumblr media
"Ooh, ooh - Charles was a very famous judge and wrote very important books on law. But his boy, Garrett, drowned when he was really young.”
Charles's coat of arms says "MINIMA MAXIMA SUNT" which translates to "The smallest things are the most important".
Thomas (1526 – 1584)
Rainbow; Good times after bad
Moon; Serene power over the mundane
Sun; Creativity and enlightenment
Blue; Truth, loyalty
Tumblr media
“He was Charles's grandson and wrote a lot of poetry. He also had 3 wives: Catherine, Anne, and Mary. But not like at the same time. They died and he just remarried.”
Thomas's coat of arms says "AGE PRO VIRIBUS" which translates to "in all that you do, do your best".
James (1560 – 1650)
Eagle (2 heads); Joining 2 strong forces
Purple; Nobility and justice
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
T is presumably for Thomas, no heraldic meaning
Tumblr media
“He never married but one day, when he was very old, a baby was found on the doorstep to the manor. He took her in and raised her as his own. That was Elinor.”
James's coat of arms says "ARS LONGA" which translates to "art lives long" (from the phrase, ars longa vita brevis - art is long, life is short).
Elinor (1626 – 1650)
Maltese cross; Blessings, protection
Red; Military might, warrior
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
Blue; Truth, loyalty
Purple; Nobility and justice
Tumblr media
“Just that she was burned as a witch but it wasn't true and her father, James, died when he saw her die and then the family fled to France. I don't want to talk about this.”
Elinor's coat of arms says "AUDACES FORTUNA IUVAT" which translates to "fortune favors the bold".
Corbin (1670 – 1741)
Lion rampant; Courage, integrity, strength
Red; Military might, warrior
Purple; Nobility and justice
Tumblr media
“Uh…I dunno. He doesn't have a coat of arms in the Great Hall because he didn't live here; wasn't even a British subject. That's all I know.”
Corbin's coat of arms says "NUNQUAM DEDISCEO" which translates to "never forget".
This shield is notably absent from the great hall, and also is the only one to feature decoration on the outside of the shield.
Sun; Fountain of life, intelligence, innovation, creativity, enlightenment
Wheat; Faithful
Vines/Ivy; Strong and lasting friendship, academia
Philippe (1689 – 1777)
Tumblr media
“He made a fortune in the New World and bought back most of the lands that were confiscated by Cromwell.”
Philippe's coat of arms says "NOVUS MUNDUS" which translates to "a new world".
Penelope (1714 – 1783)
Fleur de Lis; Symbol of France
Purple; Nobility and justice
Blue; Truth, loyalty
Tumblr media
“I don't know very much about her, except that she was very loved by practically everyone in England, and there were a million poems written about her.”
“Those are mainly Penelope Penvellyn's collections of French novels. She was a patron to a raft of artists, and her salon was quite popular. She was quite the libertine, even kept her maiden name after her marriage.”
Penelope's coat of arms says "PULCHRITUDO IN OMNIA" which translates to "there is beauty in all things".
Martha (1739 – 1791)
Pegasus; Poetic genius and inspiration
Fleur de lis; Symbol of France
Lion rampant; Courage and integrity
Wheel; fortune, cycle of life
Purple; Nobility and justice
Red; Military might, warrior
Tumblr media
“She was completely daft - she'd wear really bizarre outfits and she was one of the first women to ride on a steam train.” (This is particularly impressive as the steam train did not exist until 10 years after her death. Oops!)
Martha's coat of arms says "SINE SCIENTIA ARS NIHIL EST" which translates to "without understanding, art is nothing".
Brigitte (1759 – 1833)
Unicorn; Extreme courage, virtue, strength.

"Brigitte with her eyes so bright, looks toward heaven at midnight on the longest night of year, that's the one she holds most dear. 'Starry friends,' she's often heard to say, 'how I wish that I could make you stay.' She knows though they can't remain, time will bring them 'round again."
Only shield to have white decorations on the colored background
Star; Divine quality from above
Dove; Loving constancy and peace
Compass; Direction
Purple; Nobility and justice
Richard (1787 – 1815)
Tumblr media
“He died in Waterloo fighting against Napoleon.”
Richard's coat of arms says "SI SIC OMNES" which translates to "if only this could last forever".
Edward (1809 – 1904)

Red; Military might, warrior
Green; Hope, joy, loyalty
Purple; Nobility and justice
Tumblr media
“He was a big explorer and went all over the world. He wasn't very close with his son, who was also an explorer. They'd only see each other by chance in weird remote places like Samarkand or Walla Walla.”
Edward's coat of arms says "BIS VIVAT QUI BON VIVAT" which translates to "Whoever lives well lives twice".

CCTV6 MTalk invited a guest (@张龙Daniel, a professor and doctoral supervisor at Communication University of China) on their show “Today's Film Review” and talked about the heated discussions online about Wang Yibo being nominated as best supporting actor in GRA.
👨: The controversy that Wang Yibo has brought about is largely due to the fact that he was an idol before. So we need to understand actors of different age groups. This is a process. Let’s go back to his performance in the film "Hidden Blade". I personally feel that at least under the influence and guidance of director Cheng Er and senior Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Wang Yibo’s completion of this role is still very high. Of course, I also saw some comments on the Internet about how Wang Yibo could be nominated with other people. The critical appraisal of the award does not necessarily require these people to be on par for the critical acclaim award itself. It should take into account diversity and encourage films of various themes. encourage actors of all ages to come to their creations to actively contribute to better performances.
They can hate all they want, but again, he said it correctly. Their problem is because he was an idol and did not have “formal training” at a drama school or whatever. But again, the award is about the performance in a film. 💯
In today’s ceremony, one of Yibo’s fellow nominee, Li Xuejian ( who was also part of the initial discussion cause he is an award winning actor ) said : “To stand on this stage with four young and promising colleagues, we are three generations of old, middle-aged and young people," 🫶🏼
He even gave the mic to Yibo so he could speak first. It’s hilarious how netizens think that these veteran actors are somehow salty with the new breed when they are obviously not. ☺️
Tumblr media
Another example is Kara Wai! She’s so nice! Thanks to her we got that cute clip of Yibo going “jiayou”
Tumblr media
I know i’m not the only who has a lot of feelings right now and are anxious/excited for tomorrow’s awards ceremony. But the overwhelming feeling I have right now is pride for Yibo. He is really inspirational and an example of reaping what you sow. The road to this moment right here was far from smooth and it makes the nomination more special. I really hope he wins this. Good luck Yibo, Fly high! 🦅

BTS MOMENTS: OT8 - MELON 2019
Tumblr media
The outfit had been picked before the choreography had been set in stone and the moment the team had seen what Grace would be wearing for the Dionysus performance, they were worried. A corset top with added straps, looking a size smaller than required, and then the shoes which were platform ankle boots of crystal design but on thin four-inch heels which look like they could break.
Grace practiced in the shoes as much as she could without ruining them before the night but even those practices had been watched with worry.
While the boys did their individual mini-performances, Grace was getting changed into her Dionysus outfit as the make up artists touched up the makeup and her hair was styled differently so it wouldn’t get too much in the way. The moment the corset top was put on, it was like all the air had gone out of her lungs and as much as she took some deep breaths, she just couldn’t get the air.
“Are you going to be okay in this?” Sejin loudly asked over the noise of the crowd.
“I’m going to have to be,” she said as she slipped her feet in the shoes which also felt a size smaller. All in all, it was a gorgeous outfit but it was killing her.
Of course, the performance went perfectly and no one could tell that the corset was digging into her ribs and that a couple of her toes were being crushed. No one could tell she couldn’t get her breath and that she was trying to save her lungs for her part at the end when it was the most fast-paced.
The moment the cameras were away and off, Grace was up and off the chairs as fast as she could. The jacket was off and handed to a member of their team who was there ready as was the rest of the stylists, ready to get the corset and shoes off and into something more manageable.
“What’s wrong?” came the rest of the boys as they moved back stage to follow their female member.
“We need to get her out of these clothes,” one stylist said as she closed the curtain to the small partition.
Only their manager was allowed inside.
“Eight minutes!” the call came for them to go back to their seated area for the rest of the awards.
They had to peel the corset top off, all stylists wincing at the bloody marks left behind where the material and bones and the like had cut into Grace’s skin. Her feet weren’t much better either.
“Shit!” she cried out as her feet touched the cool floor.
They cleaned up as quickly as they could and slid the jacket back on, sowing it at the top so no one could tell there was bare skin underneath and they used tape at the top of her chest to hold it down. A pair of comfortable heels were slid onto her feet but even they hurt.
“Everything okay?” the questions came as Grace came back out, just in time for someone to yell 5 minutes.
The boys could see the red marks where the jacket was cut out and instantly went into panic mode, firing question after question as they headed back to their seats. “I’m fine, just let’s get through this and go home,” Grace sighed as she sat down with a wince, patting Jungkook’s leg when she noticed he was looking really worried.
Every award after was like walking on fire and Grace was more than happy to reach their dressing area, falling onto the couch with a long sigh.
“Let’s see what’s wrong,” Hobi said as he reached down, carefully pulling the heels off and wincing at the state of Grace’s feet. “Oh noona.”
“Don’t take that off, I’m nude under here,” she said as she gently slapped Jimin’s hands away. “Let Jin-hyung help then,” he quickly pulled away and moved behind Taehyung.
After a few minutes with the boys getting changed themselves, Grace came out of the bathroom in one of their t-shirts with the pants she was still wearing and a pair of sliders.
Rolling her eyes at their expected looks, Grace lifted the t-shirt to show the marks. Of course it caused an explosion which Seokjin shook his head out as he came out of the same bathroom, hanging the expensive jacket on a hanger for the stylists and folding up his own clothes.
“She just needs a cool shower and to stay off her feet for a couple of days,” their hyung explained as Grace gratefully accepted the piggyback side off Jungkook.
Thankfully, there were no more painful outfits after that.

Going insane over P:EG - Eva Tsunaka’s imitation「模倣」piece.
Okay, so my previous post seemed to scratch an itch for some of y’all so I figured while I’m working on the big video I should post my other analysis (if you havent seen Diana's btw its here). So I’ll be hitting on Nifast’s _imitation
「模倣」_series again with Eva’s piece, as seen below:
Tumblr media
(Credit to Nifast hi Nifast)
Alright let’s start, I’m copypasting this from the google doc as per usual. Prologue spoilers are in this one btw
Introduction
Eva Tsunaka is among the more enigmatic members of the cast, with many of her basic details obscured by the staff, her very own bio referring to her as a “Truly quiet and mysterious figure”, and the enigma that is her behavior in the prologue, Tsunaka has been set up to be this games “black box”, and while her essential characterization is out in the open, her deeper motives and psyche are likely to stay obscured for a while within the story.
However, via the Imitation「模倣」series, we get another glimpse into Eva, with her being given a portrait in a series of 9 covering the female cast, giving an abstract view into their place in the story.
Unlike my previous essay on Cara, however, this piece has a massive asterisk: Eva is alive. While Cara, Tacticum in death, and the information handed to us being absolute in summing her up, can be analyzed in full, there will be certain aspects of this art that can only be fully digested upon either Eva’s death or upon her survival of the killing game. Eva is a character who strikes me as one who may die incredibly early, or make it into the annals of the killing game.
Regardless, there is no doubt that her presence, in rebutting Wolfgang’s hope in the student's titles, and in the distrust sowed thanks to her talent and nonchalant behaviour, will have a profound impact on the cast, whether or not she may continue to live and act within the story. As it stands, Eva is alive. So while we may not do a true autopsy, we may begin to sterilize our tools and set the scene.
Eva Tsunaka - Within Reality
This section, more than anything, is meant to remind the reader of key moments within the prologue, that both act to define Eva’s character and help inform a calculated analysis of the piece.
The first thing of note is how Eva refers to her talent. After being pressured on how she came to be the Ultimate Liar, she waved such concerns away, simply saying it is what she is.
This use of the word what lines up perfectly with the whole of the Imitation「模倣」series, as each portrait is framed as a response to the question “What are you?”. The response assigned to Eva, being “a lie” again lines up perfectly with her response. All of this is capped off by the end of the art book, which poses a question, almost identical yet strikingly opposite: “Who are you?”.
This question goes unanswered, at least for now. At least for some.
N doing this, we can see a very clear dichotomy between her talent, and her. While Eva has been awarded the title of liar, it is merely what she is - not who she is. It it wholly separate from her identity as a person.
Another thing worth mentioning is the contrast between how Eva handles herself, and how the rest of the cast does. While much of the cast is apprehensive (aside from a few like Cassidy who don’t actively suspect Eva for her talent), Eva is wholly dismissive of their accusations, inviting them to believe whatever they wish to believe. While there is no direct correlation to be drawn, having this part of her in mind will serve us well.
Finally, Eva’s prodding is another key feature of her character. Being the first person to ask the hard-hitting, perhaps harsh questions to characters such as Ingrid and Cassidy about their talents, as well as serving as the principal voice against Wolfgang and Damon in the trial. While she is willing to concede if given a sufficient answer, or hopelessly outnumbers, Eva is still someone who wishes to play an active role in any conversation she has, in order to extract as much information as possible. Again, this is something to keep in mind moving forward.
We can conclude as such that Eva is a single-minded woman, one who is guided by her own questions and observations and is more than willing to disregard any ire she may attract in doing so. While this essay does not discuss her ultimate goals, we may understand the person who has set these goals in the process of doing this analysis.
Eva Tsunaka - Imitation 「模倣」
The portrait of the two Tsunaka’s, henceforth referred to as Black and White, after the colors of their respective hair, is the first one we see within the artbook, and serves as a striking establishment of the mood and rules that define this artbook. By featuring two “versions” of Eva, both that seem to look like her, yet are distinctly not Eva on closer inspection.
This establishes the explicit theme of imitation, as these two figures imitate Eva, but also highlights how these “Imitations” can’t be considered a true reflection of Eva, both in their obvious differences to her design, and the portraits themselves framed as a response to the question “What are you?”.
This question, while tackling many aspects of a person such as creed, nationality, and perhaps characteristics, can never truly capture the cadence of the question “Who are you?”, which directly addresses a person's Identity.
As such, we can establish these portraits serve to outline the public perception of each character, and indeed how this perception latches onto them and molds them in some regards. With this established, we can focus on Tsunaka alone.
The first feature of note is the dichotomy between the two figures, Black and White. While White seems to be wearing Eva’s iconic outfit, Black is not - in fact, the outfit itself seems to be a direct inversion, with Eva wearing a black suit over a white dress shirt, topped off with a bow tie. However, despite this glaring difference, it is Black who has any reference to Eva’s animal motif of a raven, with White’s jacket glaringly lacking the button normally seen.
Not only does this reinforce the idea that neither of these two figures is truly Eva, but it also makes the reader realizes that with their monochromatic hair and the inconsistencies between their designs in regards to being a copy of Eva - the combination - or perhaps reunion - of these two figures is the only way to truly “find” Eva again. Throughout the prologue, it is very obvious that Eva, while being a major force in navigating the strange circumstances of this kidnapping, is still someone who is withholding information. Furthermore, Eva is someone who, despite wishing for the cast to survive, pushes firmly against the idea of open cooperation.
In order to properly elaborate on how the introduction of these dichotomies helps inform our view of Eva, we must look into Black and White properly. What makes them different? For one, the exclusion of crow symbolism, while staying faithful to Eva’s outfit is no coincidence. The animal motifs are consistently a defining part of a character, especially in informing their personality. By stripping this feature from White, it by extension strips Eva of her humanity, which is extenuated by the lack of sheen in her eyes. Together, this makes White seem like nothing more than a model or a doll.
In doing so, this reflects how the cast perceives Eva, being suspicious of her talents and her behavior throughout the prologue and likely throughout the game following the prologue. This objectification of Eva present in white is further supported by the lack of gleam in her eyes as if there wasn’t anything behind them.
As for Black, there are several details to pick up on. For one, Black features Eva’s feather, which demonstrates how this stand-in, to some degree, is a more accurate representation of Eva, the person.
However, this falls apart upon even a surface-level inspection. Black’s outfit is quite literally an inversion of Eva’s usual outfit, with a black suit, white shirt, and a bow tie. This could symbolize the fact that, under her visage in the killing game, Eva is very much different from the stoic cynic we’ve seen.
Furthermore, her hair is notably cut short and not allowed to grow properly in places, in contrast to white long, practically unruly hair. While White’s hair may symbolize the cast's fears that Eva may run wild in the killing game, the short hair may represent Eva’s potential being stumped, perhaps by her own fear to act, perhaps by the pressure of the cast around her… or perhaps by death.
There is also the obvious distinction that Black does have a gleam in its eyes, unlike White, lending credence to the idea that it represents the human part of Eva.
In summary, White represents the image the cast has of Eva, and how their fear and distrust of her strips her of her humanity and personality. Black, however, represents the self-image Eva has of herself, and how it both differs and is ultimately affected by the killing game around her.
Now that we have an understanding of what these two figures represent, we can now answer this analysis’ pivotal question: What is the point of comparing the two figures?
The explicit purpose is simple: It establishes the futility of defining Eva in a black-and-white manner. Her design so far has highlighted this by being a mix of black and white, in particular with her hair, which blends these two colors vivaciously. The separation of the two figures, especially in their monotone hair, symbolizes how both of these views of Eva, both the distrustful one of her classmates and her own self-image, can not truly reflect who she is. Only by understanding both of them, can we truly know who Eva is.
This rebuttal of a black-and-white view of Eva is also supported by the mixture of colors in the figures. White wears a black shirt, Black wears a white one. Both of them carry a part of the other in their designs and ergo their beings, and can be seen looking at each other's halo, used to shed light on the both of them and make them visible in the otherwise pitch-black environment. This simple gesture shows that the two acknowledge each other - showing how over time, it is likely Eva will not just ignore but accept her class's views on her, and the class will recognize that Eva is not merely a suspicious figure, but a person and potential ally in ending this game, in a manner reminiscent of Yinyang.
Furthermore, there is also the introduction of a “wild-card” Color: Red, visible in the bowtie/necktie and headbands. Red is a color with much history behind it, being the color of blood and as such attraction connections to courage, bravery, and sacrifice. On the other hand, it has also represented revenge, danger, domination, and anger. While both neck accessories are visible, Black’s headband is obscured by the light, perhaps showing that Eva does not wish to act on any principle of domination or revenge, despite what the class thinks.
For a final detail, the page after this image, the one directly answering the question “What are you?” The answer “A lie.” is given. This again reinforces that lies, and by extension lying, are not a part of Eva’s identity, both in being a response to a question of What Eva is, as well as the raven’s eye being obscured by the letter “A”, symbolizing how Eva’s talent does nothing but obscure her true nature under a thin visage of perjury.
Eva Tsunaka - Conclusion:
This piece serves to both introduce the concept of the  Imitation 「模倣」series, as well as symbolize the conflict between Eva’s perception within her own mind and within the minds of the cast as a whole.
This is done by underlining the flaws within them. The cast’s idea of who Eva is is only a surface-level understanding (with Eva having a rudimentary version of her outfit on) - that practically objectifies her (seen by her glazed-over eyes on the right). Meanwhile, Eva’s self-image is more truthful to her, though still not reflecting her circumstances (as symbolized by the incorrect outfit) and obscuring her deeper behaviors (as seen by the red headband being obscured by her Halo).
Furthermore, by highlighting these flaws, and the differences between these two perceptions of Tsunaka, calls attention to how a genuine understanding of who she is can only be attained by considering both the public perception and self-image of Tsunnaka, as her own self-reflection may result in her cowering from parts of herself that only a neutral crowd would be willing to discuss. However, this same crowd would find it near impossible to truly comprehend her mind - like with anyone.
Indeed, this is something that can be applied to any of the students - the idea that they must make peace with their own self-image and their public persona, to truly understand themselves and each other. This, however, is a central theme of Tsunaka and suggests that her role in the story will be one that, rather than directly inspire change, will force the cast to reflect on their views of her, and in time, their classmates…  and themselves.

Making a silk purse out of a sows ear: the new Netflix shows by u/Mickleborough
Making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear: the new Netflix shows Richard Eden’s column in the Daily Mail (archived / unarchived), posted earlier and announcing that filming of Meghan’s quackery show begins demain, also has some interesting professional information:The first show is Harry’s not-Ralph-Lauren polo doco.Presumably the Sussexes are hoping that some stardust brushes off them:- Welcome to Wrexham has won 5 Primetime Emmy awards. Disclaimer: I’ve not watched it. From what I gather, Welcome to Wrexham is about 2 Americans who buy the 3rd oldest professional football team in the world (founded 1864) and who try to revive its fortunes. It’s got eccentricity (who buys a football team?); cultural clashes (no football club management experience); an underdog story (Wrexham AFC’s not very highly ranked, but has been improving); and Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds (the co-owners). That’s a lot of meaty storylines there: a 3rd season will be released.Let’s see what Milos Balać can make of Harry playing polo; Meghan watching Harry play polo; Meghan presenting Harry with a trophy; Meghan kissing Harry for winning; Meghan trying to look relevant on a polo field.- Selena + Chef was nominated for a daytime Emmy as well as a host of other lesser awards. Disclaimer: I’ve not watched it. It’s about someone meeting various well-known chefs and being taught by them (remotely?) how to cook their signature dishes in a manner that’s ‘unrehearsed, unfiltered, and totally unscripted’. I gather Gomez’s family or friends sample her efforts at the end. It’s an original concept, with comedy (following instructions from well-known chefs via a remote camera; the usual disasters that come with cooking); heart (sharing with family and friends); and, of course, Selena Gomez. It ran for 4 seasons. What will Leah Hariton make of Meghan’s word salad, roast chicken, avocado toast, and unsubtle flogging of lifestyle brand American Riveting Orca? Will these talented film makers deliver resounding successes? Or will both be like Meghan’s Thanksgiving show, being a pair of turkeys? Having a good film maker doesn’t guarantee awards, right, Liz Garbus? post link: https://ift.tt/9rAQoWz author: Mickleborough submitted: April 16, 2024 at 12:24AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. Although you suspect Gin told Sosuke where he found you at the Halloween party — and who you were with — the latter hasn’t mentioned it, perhaps because he’s been so busy.
You barely see him the week after the party, and when you do, it’s clear he’s exhausted. When he shows you his work calendar, you see one meeting after another and another, some even overlapping. He explains that, with the recent acquisition of another company, the transition has been more tumultuous than expected.
It’s left you with no good opportunities to initiate a conversation about Kisuke.
You tell yourself that, if he does know, Sosuke must not be upset. If he were, he surely would have brought it up by now, despite the hindrances of his schedule. But still, there’s a small, insistent worry — that you’ve done something wrong, that you’ve made a mistake, that everything is secretly on the verge of falling apart.
It’s a feeling you’re less familiar with these days. Back in college, when you finally decided to make an appointment with one of the on-campus therapists, you began to work on dismantling your unrealistic desire for perfection and taking a hard look at the impossible standards you set for yourself and yet not for others.
But it’s easy to fall back into old habits when you’ve entered a world so different from your own, where it feels as if one careless move will end in disaster.
Most of the time, you feel confident in what you have with Sosuke. Reassured. Content. He makes you happier than you think anyone ever has, and you trust him to always have your best interests in mind.
Now, however, with more distance between you, it’s hard not to read into things too much and anticipate the worst possible outcome — especially when your mind is so full of questions and uncertainties.
You know that Kisuke had been expecting you that night. After all, it was one of his “friends” who mentioned visiting the library. Was his only intention to convey a cryptic warning? Or did he have other reasons for wanting to meet you? If Gin hadn’t interrupted, would you have found out?
Regardless of what they may have been to each other in the past, Kisuke and Sosuke are no longer on friendly terms. And although he seemed friendly enough, you know next to nothing about him, apart from details you’ve gleaned through online searches.
Graduate of a prestigious university. Recipient of countless scholarships, awards, and commendations. Founder of a tech company he sold eight years ago, before he vanished from the public eye.
He makes occasional appearances at fundraisers and conferences, and it looks as though he’s still publishing papers in various scientific journals. But otherwise, he seems determined to live his life going forward as a reclusive millionaire.
One who collects secrets that he claims aren’t blackmail.
Did he and Sosuke have a falling out? Could his efforts to see you have been an attempt to sow discord in your relationship — to get back at his former friend for some unknown reason?
But then there are Gin’s final words before you left the party.
“And I suspect he has no intention of letting you go.”
You’ve already decided not to jump to conclusions and assume something sinister. Sosuke has been nothing but kind to you, generous with both his time and money. Unlike Kisuke, you know him, even if you don’t know everything about him. You’ve seen a side of him that very few have, and you feel that that level of intimacy gives you a unique insight.
Gin was likely referring to Sosuke’s possessiveness, a trait you’re not surprised he’s noticed. And don’t you like that aspect of him? It’s an intoxicating feeling, to be desired. Shouldn’t you be flattered, knowing that Sosuke wants you all to himself? To have confirmation of something you’ve suspected — something you’ve hoped — for a while now?
Maybe this is why you feel anxious, fearful that you’ve misstepped. The last thing you want is to ruin what you have, or even the potential of what you could have in the future. More than the money, you’ve come to crave the attention Sosuke gives you, how he makes you feel like you belong on his arm.
It feels somewhat vain to admit it, even privately. But you don’t want to give up feeling consequential — powerful, even.
And if you’re completely honest with yourself, you’re in love with him.
One week after the party, you’re returning to your apartment after dinner with friends, looking forward to a hot shower, fleece pajamas, and the latest season of The Great British Bake Off, when your phone vibrates.
I’ll pick you up at 8 tomorrow morning. We’ll make it to the cabin by 10.
You nearly drop your keys as you step inside, clumsily tossing them into a bowl near the door before shrugging out of your coat. Staring down at your phone, you swear under your breath, wondering how you could have forgotten.
Last month, Sosuke suggested a weekend trip to his lakeside cabin. Although it’s early November and much too cold to swim, it’s already begun to snow up north, and the prospect of a cozy getaway, just the two of you, had seemed like a dream at the time.
It still does, albeit with some complications.
The first being that, upon reading his text, your mind immediately conjures up Kisuke’s serious words.
“Be careful.”
Deciding to run a bath instead, you turn on the tap and let the tub fill while you wander into your bedroom, digging through your closet for your small carry-on, the only piece of luggage you own. As you pile sweaters on the bed, setting them aside to choose what you’ll take, you obstinately shut out the strange man’s advice.
Kisuke Urahara has given you no reason to trust him. If anything, there are too many unknown variables where he’s concerned, information you’re still lacking.
Sosuke, on the other hand, is someone you do trust. Nothing has swayed your convictions. And this trip will give the two of you the time and space to talk things out and dispel your frustrating worries for good.
Feeling resolved in your decision, you send a reply, telling him you can’t wait.
•••
The two-hour drive to the cabin passes quickly, taken up by idle conversation, an indie rock playlist set to shuffle, and an unexpected nap that sneaks up on you, despite the coffee Sosuke brought with him when he picked you up.
You’ve never seen him drive, so you’re unfamiliar with his car — a black BMW M2. But as expected, the interior is clean and comfortable, smelling of peppermint and leather. You appreciate the seat warmer, considering how frigid it is outside. Even Sosuke is bundled up, dressed more casually in a black ski jacket, gray scarf, and knit hat.
When you arrive, he gently wakes you and presses a small set of keys into your gloved hand.
“You can wait inside. I’ll handle our bags.”
Knowing better than to offer your help, you give him a grateful smile before stepping out of the car. It’s only then that you take a good look at where you’ll be spending the next two nights.
Some part of you had expected a multi-million-dollar property, a cabin more in name than in appearance. One of those impressive lake houses with floors of spacious rooms, wide lawns, even a pool. You remember Spring Break trips with friends, renting a pontoon boat and drifting around the lake near campus, drinking lukewarm beer from water bottles and travel mugs while gawking at immaculate properties you could never afford.
But what sits in front of you is a small cabin with a deck, a fire pit, and a narrow wooden dock currently laden with snow. As you walk closer, you see the red-painted shutters, the matching Adirondack chairs tucked under the awning on the front porch, the tiny shed off to one side. There’s a boat house further down the shore of the lake, looking as if it hasn’t been touched in a long while.
As you unlock the front door and step inside, however, you can immediately tell someone else has been here. There’s already a fire roaring in the living room hearth, smoke trailing up through the chimney. The whole place is warm, enough that you gratefully shuck your coat and toss it onto the empty rack.
You’re investigating the fully-stocked fridge when Sosuke trudges inside, stomping his boots to dislodge the snow clinging to them.
“I have someone look after the property while I’m not here,” he explains. “Whenever I drive up, he comes over and gets things ready.”
“You even give him a shopping list?” Grabbing a bottle of riesling from the bottom shelf, you turn to flash him a teasing smile. “Not that I’m complaining.”
He chuckles, closing the door against the cold and removing his outerwear. As he takes off his hat, he runs a hand through his messy hair, making a half-hearted attempt to tame it. He’s wearing his glasses instead of his contacts, and that, paired with his baggy wool sweater, gives the impression of a harried college professor.
“Wine already? It’s not even noon.”
“We’re on vacation. And obviously…” You delve back into the fridge, and when you face him again, you’re holding a carton of orange juice in your other hand. “… we’re making mimosas.”
He shakes his head, but he doesn’t protest, only going so far as to say, “For that, we can use champagne.”
As you sip your drinks, he gives you the very brief tour. There are two bedrooms. The “master suite,” as he cheekily calls it, has a king-sized bed layered with blankets and a heavy quilt. The window doesn’t overlook the lake, but you can see its icy edge, along with a portion of the woods just beyond the property. Although much of the cabin is rustic, the bathroom has been remodeled to include a walk-in shower.
The smaller bedroom has, unsurprisingly, been converted into a miniature library. He explains that most of these books are from his college days, which snags your attention. As he tidies a few stacks of papers on the desk, brushing away the thin layer of dust clinging to the wood, you scan the shelves until you spot what you’re looking for.
“Are these your yearbooks?”
Sosuke looks up, his expression mildly surprised. “Yes.”
Mentally counting the years, you reach for the volume from his senior year of undergrad, asking, “Is it okay if I take a peek? I’m sure you were a heartthrob, even back then.”
He smiles, and you don’t miss the knowing look that crosses his face. “I don’t know about that. But you’re welcome to it.”
Hefting the heavy book in your hands, you open it and flip to the glossary in the back, quickly finding Sosuke’s name near the top of the first column. Even so, your eyes are helplessly drawn to the next page, scanning down the list until…
“Kisuke’s in there, too.”
You stiffen when Sosuke speaks, seeming to read your mind. He’s moved much closer, standing right behind you, a warm, steady presence leaning over your shoulder. Placing a hand on yours, he guides you to turn page after page, until you reach a section labeled “Biochemistry Club.”
There, in the largest photo on the page, are both men, smiling at the camera.
Neither of them has changed much in twenty years. Sosuke’s hair was a little longer back then, and he wore a different pair of glasses, ones with thick black frames. His face reveals his youth, looking softer, somehow more… innocent. You can’t put your finger on why. His eyes, however, are the same, as is the smile he wears, a simple curl of the lips, reserved yet friendly.
Kisuke is clean-shaven in the photo, but his sandy hair looks the same as it did at the party, carelessly tousled. He looks thinner, as if he’s still growing into himself, and there’s a hazy distance in his gaze that makes you wonder if he was sober at the time this was taken. Unlike Sosuke’s t-shirt, his is wrinkled, like he plucked it off the floor of his dorm that morning. His arm is thrown around the dark-haired boy’s shoulders, an exuberant but somehow lazy grin stretched across his face.
And around his neck hangs a gold medal, while Sosuke wears the silver.
“That was taken at the American Chemical Society’s annual conference,” Sosuke says, his fingers sliding across your knuckles as he peers down at the page, speaking close to your ear. “He arrived late, as usual. But he still took the top prize in the undergrad research competition. The judges said he had a truly brilliant mind…”
As you listen, you pay close attention to his tone, noting the hint of sharpness beneath his pleasant cadence. Jealousy. Despite the fact that two decades have passed, Kisuke’s good fortune still agitates him, even if the feeling has lessened over time.
“I didn’t know you studied biochemistry,” you murmur.
“Like Kisuke, I have a variety of interests. I only ended up in finance because the opportunity was too good to pass up.”
He lifts the yearbook out of your hands and beckons you to the window seat. As you sit beside him, he stares down at the photo, his gaze distant.
“What did you think of him?”
You can’t quite tell if you feel more nervous or relieved that he’s finally brought up the night of the party. “Peculiar. Self-deprecating.” You hesitate, the last word weighing heavy on your tongue before you opt for honesty. “Charismatic.”
Sosuke seems unfazed by your assessment, nodding silently. “He’s always been those things. Intelligent, too.” Leaning back against the window jamb, his lips press together in a thin line.
“More intelligent than me.” Sensing your instinct to protest, he raises a hand. “No, it’s true. And I suppose it’s the root of my envy.
“As the years passed, it grew worse. Everything that I worked so hard to learn, to achieve, to master… It came so easily to him. And he always took it for granted. He could never understand the struggles of anyone else.”
Without warning, he closes the book, the sound making you jump. His mask seems to be slipping, his anger leaking through.
“What I came to realize is that he had the intellect and means to change the world. But he was too lazy and self-absorbed to do it. Maybe I should thank him, though, for inspiring me to adapt, to work hard to eliminate my weaknesses.”
When he looks at you, it’s difficult to hide how unnerved you are. You’re unfamiliar with this Sosuke, who radiates with an intensity that feels somehow suffocating — as if you would struggle to take a deep breath if you tried. His eyes are bright, his face twisted into something fervent, almost desperate.
“It’s the responsibility of those with power to enact necessary change — to take on that burden, no matter what society dictates, no matter the cost. True innovation requires sacrifice, and that’s something Kisuke will never understand. He’s too soft.”
You’ve heard him speak passionately before, but it’s never left you feeling confused — even a little fearful.
Your mouth is dry as you finally ask, your voice smaller than you would like, “What do you mean?”
Something shifts in Sosuke’s gaze, that strange intensity dimming, and his expression turns apologetic. “I’m sorry. I got a little carried away.” Reaching out, he smooths a hand over your hair, as if to reassure you.
“It’s okay. You can talk to me,” you insist, almost instinctively.
Maybe he just caught you off guard. The last thing you want is for him to close parts of himself off from you. You can’t explain why, but you suddenly feel guilty for your reaction. Why was I afraid of him?
He smiles warmly and leans forward, wrapping you in his arms. “I know, sweetheart. It’s more than enough, having you here with me.”
And not with him. You can almost hear the words, even though he doesn’t say them.
“He told me to be careful,” you murmur, your head tucked under his chin as you soak in his warmth. “Do you know why he’d say that?”
Sosuke is quiet for a long moment before he sighs, gently rubbing your back. “I think it hurt him, when our friendship dissolved. He saw us as partners who wanted the same things, whereas I didn’t.”
He lowers his head and presses a kiss to your temple. “The only thing I can guess is that he’s afraid I’ll end up hurting you, too. But I don’t think he knows how deeply I care for you.”
At his words, you turn your head so that you can look up at him. Another opportunity presenting itself to you. Now that you’ve cleared the air about Kisuke, only one thing remains, having weighed on your mind for a while now.
“I feel the same way,” you confess, trying to keep your voice steady. “And I… I don’t want your money anymore.”
Sosuke’s brow furrows. “If you think you’re a burden, I can assure you —”
“It’s not that. I don’t want to seem ungrateful, either. It’s just…” You sit up, and his arms remain around you, though they loosen enough to give you space.
“I want to be yours, without any of that between us. You don’t need to pay me to be with you, because…”
Something stops you from confessing to the feelings you’ve only recently realized. Maybe it’s the fact that you’re already making yourself vulnerable. Rejection will be painful enough without admitting that you love him.
“Because I enjoy being with you — you, the person you are, not the checks or the dinners or the gifts.”
Sosuke looks surprised, his lips parted as he stares at you. The brief silence feels like an eternity when your heart is in your throat, your stomach twisted with nerves.
But then he asks, his voice soft, “Do I really make you so happy?”
You nod, and before you can speak, he quickly closes the space between you, hugging you tightly to his chest once again.
“I’m glad,” he murmurs. “Of course I wanted company, back when we first met. Someone to help me feel less lonely. But I wanted to be that person for you, too.”
He takes a shuddering breath. “Not many people understand me — see me. With you, though… I feel like I can share more of myself.”
“Of course you can,” you insist, shifting enough in his grasp to kiss his cheek. “I don’t want there to be secrets between us, Sosuke. If we’re going to do this — make this a real relationship — I want all of you.”
Resting your head against his, you whisper, “I’ve seen all of your masks. You can’t use them with me.”
You need him to know that, yes, you do see him — and you’re well aware that the Sosuke Aizen you love is not the same as the one he presents to everyone else.
Maybe it’s because of what happened with Kisuke. They were so close, had similar interests, saw possibilities where others could only perceive limitations. Two geniuses, thick as thieves — until they weren’t.
Maybe he maintains an illusion because the pain of another rejection is something he refuses to feel. No one can misunderstand him if they never get close enough to even try.
But you want him — no, need him to let you in. To keep showing you his vulnerabilities, the truths he keeps hidden away from everyone else. You’ll carry whatever burden he shoulders, become his secret keeper, his muse, whatever he desires you to be.
You’re in too deep to look back. And why would you when the view ahead is of the one person who’s seen you?
“No secrets,” Sosuke echoes, lowering his head to rest on your shoulder. “I promise.”
•••
The next morning, you wake to the smell of coffee and cinnamon rolls. Even so, you’re reluctant to untangle yourself from the cozy layers of blankets. When you finally do, you pull on Sosuke’s wool sweater from yesterday, snuggling into it as you pad out to the kitchen.
You learn it was a wise choice when he lifts you onto the small countertop and kneels between your legs, eager to taste you.
The two of you spend much of the day like this, enjoying each other’s bodies. After a week of infrequent intimacy, you’re happy to have him all to yourself. After the first time his phone rings, he switches it to silent and buries it at the bottom of his suitcase.
As the wind howls outside, bringing with it another inch or two of snow, you while away the hours reading together in bed, taking an afternoon nap, and then mutually masturbating.
After dinner — penne alla vodka, paired with several generous glasses of sauvignon blanc — he adds wood to the fire and arranges himself in front of it. As you lean back against his chest, you’re pleasantly warm, just tipsy enough to feel a lightness spreading through your limbs.
Perhaps it’s the wine that loosens your lips and prompts you to ask, “Is Kisuke a bad man?”
Sosuke goes noticeably still, but he sounds genial when he counters, “Isn’t ‘bad’ a subjective concept?”
You huff and roll your head to one side, swearing you can hear the smile in his voice. “You know what I mean. At the party, he said something about collecting secrets.”
“Ah…” Lifting your hand, Sosuke idly brings it to his lips, kissing his way across your knuckles. “I suppose you could call him a spymaster.”
His mouth lingers against the back of your hand, and you hum at the soft sensation. “Does he work for the government or something?”
“No, nothing like that. It’s a private hobby of his — one he seems to have no problem roping others into.”
Some small part of you knows you’re pushing your luck by prying further. But a larger part can’t seem to resist.
“He’s known you for a long time. I wonder what all he could tell me…”
You say it teasingly, your voice lowered to a flirtatious murmur. But even so, you can feel the shift in Sosuke’s demeanor, even before his free hand wraps around your throat.
“You seem awfully concerned with Kisuke Urahara.”
His fingers squeeze just a little, and you’re ashamed by the whimper that escapes you. Although you can feel him growing hard, his cock rubbing against the small of your back, his words are careful — and more than a little sharp.
“He must have made quite the impression on you that night.”
“N-no, he —”
“Shhh, hush now. Be good for me, won’t you?” His grip tightens again before he finally releases you. “Turn around and sit in my lap.”
You’re quick to obey, fumbling a little as you settle yourself between his legs, your thighs held wide open by his own. Now that you can see his face, you can’t hide from the flint in his gaze, the almost derisive twist of his lips.
“Don’t trouble yourself with ‘good’ and ‘bad,’” he says, grasping your chin, squeezing it between his thumb and forefinger.
“Neither means anything in the end, when we’re all dead and buried. Only legacy remains. What do you think Kisuke Urahara’s will be, hmm?”
Unsure if he’s truly expecting an answer, you remain silent, not even daring to move in his lap. It’s shameful, how aroused you are, as if he’s trained your body to have this instinctive response, regardless of the thread of fear tightening in your stomach.
Sosuke leans in closer, his breath ghosting across your cheek. “Nothing. So let’s be done with this.”
He lets his lips just barely brush against yours, smiling when you push against his grip, wanting more of his mouth.
“I don’t want to hear you speak his name. Only mine. Can you do that for me, sweetheart?”
As he murmurs the endearment, his tone softens, and you realize it’s only jealousy — greed for your attention, your affection. There’s no reason to be afraid.
You push the feeling away and focus on the way your body fits against his, how his hand on your chin keeps you pulled close, nearly flush with his broad chest.
“Yes, Sosuke,” you assure him, voice steady and thick with desire.
Your willing obedience, the way you say his name, seems to snap whatever self-restraint he was barely clinging to. His hand slides to your cheek as he kisses you, hard enough that your breath hitches in your chest as you struggle to match his efforts.
Caught up in the moment, you shamelessly roll your hips, a noise of pleasure swallowed by his mouth when you feel the length of his cock just beneath you. Sinking lower, spreading your thighs even more, you can feel your cunt throb with need.
“My greedy girl,” Sosuke rasps, his hand moving to your hip before it slips under the waistband of your panties.
You’re suddenly grateful you skipped getting fully dressed after your shower, whining a little as his fingers find you already wet. “Always — all for you.”
“Even when I’m rough with you?”
By now, he knows what you like, what you crave. You swear he can read your body like a book, that discerning gaze splitting you open and devouring every part of you. He knows he’s practically conditioned you to desire him, and he takes pride in that awareness, using it to his advantage.
“Yes,” you breathe, rocking forward to rub yourself against his fingers. “I’m yours, remember?”
His composure begins to slip, his gaze heated as it rakes over your body. “How could I forget?”
With a firm tug, he pulls the damp lace aside, signaling what he has in mind. You eagerly reach for the waistband of his sweatpants.
Once his cock is freed, you give it a gentle squeeze and drag your thumb across the head, slowly smearing precum along his velvety skin.
That small action is enough to pull a groan from Sosuke, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment before he looks at you again.
“Nice and slow, baby… Take your time.”
With a nod, you lift yourself in his lap, releasing your grip on him only when you feel the blunt head of his cock pushing inside.
Keeping your hands on his shoulders, you do as he says, moving slowly as you adjust to him, gradually lowering yourself. He helps by keeping his hands on your waist and holding you steady.
“Good girl. That’s it…”
The stretch still leaves you breathless when you finally take all of him, your lips parted as your head drops back. “S-Sosuke…”
“I’ve got you. Just relax.”
You do what you can, your thighs clenching around him as you move. But true to his word, he does most of the work, lifting and lowering you, setting an unhurried pace.
There’s a pleasant ache inside you, and your clit still feels swollen and sensitive from being played with so much today. Even so, the sound you make when Sosuke’s thumb presses into it is undeniably one of pleasure.
“You’re so beautiful,” he tells you, and the way he says it — like a man on his knees, supplicant, worshipful — makes you believe it.
You’re sitting astride one of the most powerful men in the city, and yet you have the power to make him weak.
It’s a heady notion, one that grows hazy and harder to grasp as your orgasm nears. That familiar coil tightens in your lower belly, and you can tell that Sosuke feels it. His jaw is clenched as he continues to move you, his fingers digging into your soft skin, hard enough to bruise.
When you finally come undone, he holds you still and leans back against the couch, giving himself leverage to thrust once, twice, before pulling out. Your shirt has ridden up, exposing your stomach, and he spills onto it with a tight groan, his expression going slack with unrestrained pleasure.
As you catch your breath, weakly clinging to his shoulders, you can feel his warm cum drip down between you, the sweat sticking to your thighs, the mingled taste of both him and the wine still fresh on your tongue. And when he looks at you with enough adoration to make your heartbeat trip over itself, you smile, satisfied.
It feels good, knowing that he’s yours, really and truly. Even better than you had imagined.
•••
You wake sometime in the early morning hours, mouth dry and heart pounding. It’s not often that you have nightmares, especially ones you remember so clearly.
But there was a door, not unlike the one to your apartment. You walked over to it and looked through the peephole. There was a man on the other side, looking back at you as if he could see you through the tiny opening. His face is the only thing you can’t recall, unnervingly blurred.
What you do remember is him firing a bullet through the wood, your ears ringing, sharp pain lancing through your cheek, something warm and wet staining your skin.
Looking over at Sosuke, blinking in the darkness, you’re grateful to see you didn’t wake him. He’s lying on his stomach, arms folded beneath the pillow, blankets pushed down to his hips. You’re tempted to drape yourself over his bare back, hold him tight until sleep pulls you under once more.
But you’re thirsty. Too much wine, you lament, though it’s not the least bit regretful.
Slipping out of bed, you quietly stretch before grabbing the nearest shirt you can find — one of Sosuke’s. It smells like his latest cologne, something expensive, with oud and sandalwood, and the cotton brushes against your thighs as you walk out to the kitchen.
It was just a nightmare, you remind yourself, repeating it as you fill a glass with water and take a long drink. You used to have them much more often in college, at the peak of your anxiety. At some point, your restless nights became more infrequent. But you certainly haven’t missed them.
It’s been hours since the fire was doused, and the hardwood floor is cool against the soles of your bare feet. If anything, it helps to ground you, waking you up just enough to focus more on the here and now than the phantom pain in your cheek. Touching it, you reassure yourself that it’s uninjured, wholly intact, and you heave a sigh.
“Stupid…” The grumble is little more than an exhale of breath as you take another drink and wander over to the windows.
The front porch is a vision in white, the unblemished snow glimmering in the light of the full moon. It’s difficult to make out the lake, iced over beneath the wintry covering, the small dock one of the only signs of its existence. You idly wonder if the two of you will have trouble traversing the narrow roads in the morning, until something catches your eye.
There’s someone standing at the edge of the woods, just beyond the car.
You don’t realize you’ve dropped your glass until you feel cold water pooling at your feet. Down the hall, you hear a thud and quick footsteps, followed by Sosuke calling your name.
“Are you okay?”
His eyes are wide with alarm, his glasses askew. Stopping just shy of the shards of glass littering the floor, he swears under his breath. “Don’t move. Let me turn on some lights…”
Your mouth hangs open, the words weighing heavy on your tongue — There’s someone out there. But when you look again, there’s no one. You blink again and again, questioning yourself.
Did you really see a man’s silhouette? Or was it just a remnant from your nightmare, your still-sleepy mind playing tricks on you in the dark?
Distantly, you notice two of the lamps are now on, casting a warm glow over the room, and Sosuke is crouched at your feet, sweeping the mess into a dustpan.
“Are you hurt? Did you step on any of it?”
You shake your head, and he looks up at you with concern, your silence not going unnoticed. Even so, he continues his work, disposing of the glass before mopping up the spilled water with a dish towel.
Once he’s finished, he gently cradles your face in his hands. “You’re okay?” he asks again, quieter this time. And you finally manage to find your voice.
“Yeah. I’m fine. I just… It just slipped out of my hand.”
His thumb rubs your cheek, a soothing back and forth, as he murmurs, “No harm done. I’m just glad you’re alright.” Leaning in, he kisses your forehead, lingering there as he allows himself to relax.
“Let’s go back to bed.”
When the morning comes, as Sosuke piles your bags into the trunk, you can’t muster the courage to look for any footprints. Instead, you sit huddled in the car, your gaze fixed on the side mirror, staring at the spot in question.
You’re not sure which is worse — knowing or being left wondering. But it’s as if your body refuses to comply, rooted to the spot by a fear that’s only slightly faded since last night. As if sensing your discomfort, when Sosuke climbs into the car, he reaches for your gloved hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze.
It was just a nightmare, you tell yourself as he navigates the winding forest roads. You’ll say it as many times as you need to, until you actually believe it.

Tumblr media
The US and its propaganda arm, Hollywood, have always been anti-Asian. Although opportunities are opening up for Asian actors, the underlying messaging—that divides and hurts Asians—hasn't changed.
Not too long ago, AsAms seemed united in outrage against racism and white-washed casting such as Scarlet Johannsen in Ghost in the Shell, Tilda Swinton in Dr. Strange, or Netflix’s Deathnote. Yet as more projects with AAPI leads and casts were produced, this so-called unity proved to be a lie.
The illusion of AsAm unity fell apart with To All the Boys I Loved Before—which was widely celebrated despite its blatant white-worship. The most recent blow comes from Hulu's The Company You Keep, a U.S. remake of a k-drama that replaced the male love interest with a white man.
Tumblr media
Once it seemed like AAPI women were getting roles and being “humanized” (i.e. garnering attention and approval from white men on-screen and off) AAPI with media power were satisfied. It didn't matter that AAPI men were still erased and dehumanized—even in supposedly pro-AAPI projects.
Not only do AAPI with media power not care about the continuing harm against AAPI men, they exacerbate it. When AsAms critique anti-Asian narratives—especially ones erasing or targeting AsAm men like TATBILB—they're gaslit, harassed, censored and even permanently blacklisted.
Tumblr media
This is because AsAm media is held hostage by the racist framework of the U.S. government's 1942-43 Mixed Marriage Policy. White men's hierarchy—based on perceived threat levels and receptiveness to white assimilation—still dictates Hollywood narratives.
Research confirms that the MMP persists today. A 2015 study shows how gendered racism leads to severe under-representation of Asian men (and Black women). Whereas monoracial Asian men face significant barriers in dating, a 2014 study shows mixed-white Asians get a "bonus effect."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why Hollywood execs know there will be less uproar if monoracial Asian men aren't represented—it's been the status quo for decades. In the few roles made for Asian men, they still fall into two categories: pathetic loser or toxic man/villain. In some cases, both.
The hatred and erasure of Asian men is so deeply embedded that it's led to the widespread erasure of AAPI men as victims of anti-Asian hate crimes in recorded stats and media narratives. AAPI journalists know this, yet continue to do nothing to correct it.
So what's next for AsAm representation? In 2022, Janet Yang became president of the Oscars. She's co-founder of Gold House—an AsAm Hollywood collective—and executive producer of Joy Luck Club, a seminal work bashing Asian men as irredeemable misogynists compared to "good" white men.
Many AsAms like Yang want more of Joy Luck Club and similar stories. Amy Tan, author of JLC, has been pushing for years for a sequel with the original cast. A TV series was optioned in 2017, and as of 2022 a movie sequel is to be written by white male screenwriter, Ron Bass.
Tumblr media
Stories like Joy Luck Club aren't just bad media—they're dangerous. Arthur Martunovich randomly hammered three AsAm men to death because he saw a movie depicting Chinese men as abusers and he wanted to "protect Chinese women". There's a high chance that movie was JLC.
Hollywood has figured out it’s easy to make anti-Asian films and stifle criticism by hiring Asian tokens to give stamps of approval. An article from 1986 (40 years ago) about AsAm criticism of racism in Big Trouble in Little China shows there's a history of sowing division among AAPI and using government resources to do it. I understand the allure of the Hollywood dream because I used to believe in it myself. From an early age, all marginalized groups—POC, women, LGBTQ+—are taught to fantasize about how we'll finally be accepted and heal the hurt once we get on a big stage and give an award speech. Having experience in Hollywood as a comic creator, I know how people in power (esp. white men) behave. Their goal is to wear you down until you internalize their bigoted messaging, regurgitate it yourself, and then thank them for it. They hate the word "no." Awards don't matter if the content that gets you there ultimately serves bigoted and harmful purposes. In 2020, I made a test for AAPI media. None of the projects so far have passed. That's by design. We think we’re holding the statue, but really, it’s holding us.
Tumblr media
Correction: I just noticed a typo in the comic. Inside the Hollywood sign's letter "Y" I meant to say "non-Asians" not "non-whites." Sorry, it was a lot of drawing and writing, and I got tired 🥴 (Please don’t repost or edit my art. Reblogs are always appreciated.)

You’re obsessed with EMMA because she is skinny and pretty and youre not
the irony here is that you are actually describing yourself. you are obsessed with emma for shallow reasons and believe that because she is a pretty woman, she is excused from being an awful, abusive person who no one objective has anything good to say about. countless negative stories, interactions, blind items, a domestic violence arrest.. and yet, here you are defending her. calling others “obsessed” when you are the one on an evan peters fan account. what does that say about you? nothing good, i’m afraid.
quite frankly, even the most physically hideous ogre of a person could not match the ugliness inside of this woman you “stan”. it’s nothing to be proud of when you’re beautiful on the outside, but evil on the inside. that is why emma is a miserable person reaping what she sowed. she has an innocent baby (by an alcoholic felon) at home and her shein evan peters boyfriend, but she’s in public places intoxicated and snorting white stuff off a baby changing table in a bathroom. hawking dairy milk and whatever else someone will cut her a sponsorship check for on instagram, acting in romcoms no one will ever see.. while evan garners critical acclaim, and major award show nominations and wins. and a new sunshine-y girlfriend, whose presence bothered emma to the point she unfollowed her on instagram, like a petulant high schooler. like the bitter demon she is. i’m grateful we’ll all get what we deserve in life. 💗

Today I saw her again. I think she's ready now. She has grown to be a beautiful woman, just like you. I know I never admitted it before but what best friend I would have been if I didn't call you ugly. She's even more effervescent than you. I'll keep a check on her and be with her when it's her time, just like you wanted.
My new recipe didn't work. It's tough being a researcher. Well, you bailed out before you even had to start it. I loathe the government and yet gonna recieve an award from them. It's kind of amusing.
You should know I'm getting old. The elixir is still at the same place u left it. I won't be taking it as well. I want to meet you soon, to beat you with my broomstick. Don't worry I ain't suicidal. I have plenty time. I'll make June a good witch before that. You know she got good nose just like her father. She smells off my potions the moment I enter the room. Her orenda is amazing and actually better than mines. She grew Henbane seeds that I gave her just in two days. Ah did I forgot to mention that last time? Must have forgotten. So much work these days for an old lady.
Ahh alright, I'm sorry. I know it's early for her but look she passed. I can see that in her, she's strong. Also aunts gotta be little mischievous, I can't be all responsible you know. That's your thing not mine. But sike, you are supernal now.
It's been 17 years Tabitha and I miss you. We decided to grow old together but you left me. You left us. I still wish you took that elixir that day but you are too righteous I can't blame you. I hope you are not lurking around in the town since then and found peace. Cupcakes were tasty right? June and I made them. Here, done with sowing your daisies. *Herbivicus* and Boom they bloom, beautiful!!
Alright I gotta go now, the mayor wants to see me to discuss my winning speech. And he wants me to mention him in the speech. That guy will never change.
Bye Tab
Happy birthday

(DECEMBER 2, 2023 / NYP) Pro-Palestinian groups such as those who spread hate at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting this week, have been lavishly funded by the Rockefeller family’s main charitable arm.
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund has links to two groups the Israeli government designated “terrorist organizations,” a review of public records by The Post shows.
Founded in 1940, the famous clan’s $1.3 billion fund — where Justin, Wyatt and David Rockefeller Jr. sit on the board of trustees — has shelled out more than $2.6 million since 2018 directly or indirectly to at least six anti-Israel organizations, several of which openly celebrated Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack on the Jewish state.
Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, whose logo was affixed to an ad promoting Wednesday’s rally, is a “fiscally sponsored project” of the nonprofit Alliance for Global Justice.
In August 2022, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund gave the Alliance $100,000.
Israel designated Samidoun a terrorist organization in February 2021 and Germany banned it last month.
Samidoun, founded in 2011, condemned the United Kingdom in 2021 for classifying Hamas a terrorist organization, and cheered the Oct. 7 terrorist incursion:
“The resistance is rising throughout occupied Palestine . . . confronting the occupier by land and air, taking control of Palestinian land, seizing occupation settlers and soldiers and launching thousands of missiles as Palestinian resistance forces fight to advance return and the liberation of Palestine,” Samidoun said on the day Hamas terrorists massacred more than 1,200 Israeli civilians.
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund has awarded at least $215,000 to Defence For Children International-Palestine, according to their website and IRS tax forms.
The Israeli government declared the group a terrorist organization in October 2021.
Undeterred, the fund issued a new $50,000 grant to the organization in 2022.
“This is unfortunately a case of reaping what one sows. They were probably fine with these rabid, lefty groups, protesting other people,” said City Councilman Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island). “The lesson we all can take from this is that the woke left isn’t our friend.”
The fund gave at least $490,000 for “general support” to the Jewish Voice for Peace, according to public grant disclosures on their website since 2019.
Despite its name, the group is a notorious anti-Israel organization and a front for mainstreaming antisemitic ideas, critics say.
A Grand Central demonstration organized by the group in October led to more than 300 arrests.
“Jewish Voice for Peace is a radical anti-Israel and anti-Zionist activist group that advocates for the boycott of Israel and eradication of Zionism. JVP does not represent the mainstream Jewish community, which it views as bigoted for its association with Israel,” according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The group has been banned by Columbia University for repeatedly holding “threatening” campus events, the school said last month.
The fund has also donated at least $515,000 to the The Tides Center, earmarked specifically to support Palestine Legal, a pro-Palestinian advocacy group, records show. The nonprofit trumpeted the Oct. 7 attacks as “one of the most significant acts of Palestinian resistance.”
“There is no equivalence – moral or otherwise – between Israel’s nearly eight decades of ceaseless colonial violence, and the resistance that it has engendered,” Palestine Legal said on Oct. 10.
“It’s the height of irony that the Rockefeller Foundation supports the anti-Israel, Soros-funded Tides Foundation and many other antisemitic Israel-bashing groups, that are now holding ugly, disgusting, vile Jew-hating displays at the Christmas Tree event at the Rockefeller Center,” said Mort Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America. “Just desserts I say.”
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund also sent at least $710,000 to the Adalah Justice Project and $605,000 to the Middle East Policy Network (also known as Al-Shabaka).
Both organizations celebrated Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks in public statements.
The fund defended the grants and noted that it donated to more mainstream Israel groups as well, such as J-Street and the The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.
“We categorically reject any claim that our grantee organizations support, materially or ideologically, acts of terrorism,” said spokeswoman Sarah Edkins “Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for people of all races, ethnicities, and genders is critical to our mission, and RBF is deeply concerned about indications of growing antisemitism.”
Edkins added, “The Fund’s only relationship with Alliance for Global Justice is as the fiscal sponsor for one grantee of our Sustainable Development program, South Bronx Unite.”
