I can’t sleep so I’m thinking about my catastrophe crew au again.

I think the main cast would looks something like this:

Badboyhalo: initially an average channel 11 camera man who was assigned to the news helicopter, who becomes the helicopters reporter after tragedy and/or upper management befalls several of the replacements. He is kind of the head of the crew, in that he often comes up with the insane solutions to the problems they face (a reference to his big-finding skills on the Qsmp), but he always assists the others when they need it (after some teasing and being mischievous). He has a son, Dapper.

Tubbo: the helicopter pilot, and the youngest of the crew. He’s very smart and insightful, giving the crew advice and inspiration, and sometimes straight up solutions based on his observations. He’s very good with technology and mechanics, but since he’s too busy flying the helicopter, he doesn’t use those skills too much. Despite being fairly young, he has an adopted daughter, Sunny, who he takes care of when he’s not at work.

Bagi: the copilot. She takes over flying when tubbo is incapacitated or doing tech-y stuff elsewhere. She does copilot things (I don’t know how helicopters work) but she also has incredible deductive skills and logical reasoning. She’s very good at connecting the dots, and ends up finding out how the disasters that the crew faces are all related. (At the beginning of the show, she does not yet have Empanada).

Aypierre: the crew’s technician and mechanic. He stays on the helicopter to fox anything that breaks, and bring out odd little inventions to help with whatever bizarre situations the crew finds themselves in. He co-parents his daughter pomme with a number of other French people (they live in the same apartment complex as Bad and Dapper, which leads to Pomme seeing Bad as a father as well)

Tina: I don’t know what her job title would be, but she manages the broadcast of the sound and video from the helicopter to the newstation. She controls whose voices are broadcast on the air, which she occasionally uses to mess with people (I don’t know a whole lot about Tina, but I’ll probably come up with more details for her later)

Recurring side characters:

Cucurucho: a higher up (but not the highest up) at channel 11 news. He is the boss of all members of the crew, and is/was responsible for putting the crew together. He is mostly impartial and mainly focused on efficiency, but there are situations where they base decisions on their own desires.

Skeppy: the other reporter for the catastrophe crew, who stays within the channel 11 building. (Tbh also don’t know a lot about him. He’s probably beefing with cucurucho tho)

Relationships:

Bagina: the only relationship that will be canonized within the show. They are gay disasters around each other for a bit, flirt, date, and end up getting married and going on honeymoon right before thing get VERY BAD. Let’s go lesbians.

Cucuhalo: cucurucho has a crush on bad. Bad is dense as rocks. Cucurucho sometimes abuses his power for the sake of this one sided crush, like when he had skeppy relocated (to be further away from bad). Maybe they also live in the same apartment complex, next door neighbors or something.

Skephalo: you know how they are (probably). As the two reporters/anchors, they often have a bit of banter as the newscast switches from one to the other. They work very well together, but can’t work nearby to each other due to the jealousy of cucurucho.

Cucurucho and skeppy work in much closer proximity than either does with bad, so they have little passive aggressive interactions sometimes. Bad is also oblivious to this, and thinks that everyone should just get along.

Jfk:6'1Hes pretty openly pan in 2023, would only fool around with guys in 2002. Has Addison desease like irl jfk. He gets called Jack by ppl hes close with.

Harriet:I have mixed feelings abt Harriet tbh, like I WANT to love her but she pissed me off in show a couple times. Unpopular opinion, I actually don't mind any of the new clones designs. She dyes her hair ALOT, loves bright colors. She feels pretty uncomfortable with having to live up to her clone mother. She loves art and acting and feels like she's letting people down because of it.Shes straight or maybe bi, she doesn't really know.

Frida: Short lady!! 5'1 Irl frida was bi but she doesn't really care for guys. she's a lesbian. Always has a sketch book with her:) Thinks cleo is just so cool and really respects all her interests. She even lets her do her makeup. Loves her tall gf

Confucius:Mommy issues fr. Hes like 6'2. Really loves all kinds of fashion. Has a raccoon tail in his hair. Blue+Black mullet cus he's silly. Chronically online. Tries to be an influencer but is kinda bad at it lolIs. besties with jfk

Topher:4'9 at MOST. hes so short Hes ALSO transmasc. and gay. Hes got a bit of internalized trans and homophobia. (sorry transfem topher lovers)Has a couple prominent white hairs. His hair is THICK and curly. He kinda hates it until his friends( mainly abe) make him feel more content with it. Hes a brony lol. Listens to weezer unironicly cus of Abe. He also loves hyperpop and Weird Al. Caitlyn actually adopted him, and really sees him as her son.

the kids are meant to be late teens early 20s but drawing that very specific age group is like, way difficult... also all the youths are short compared to peter's friend group of exclusively 5'9" to 6' people XD (well gwen and harry are shorter so i guess it's fine XD)

some of these are more firm than others. like. should randy be straight? i dunno. is aunt may straight or are all the alive parkers bisexual lmao? idk. what about literally all of the teenagers except andi? i have no clue and a lot of the stuff with them is waaaay later and I am not anywhere close to, so i just put them all in rainbows cause why not! but i do think janine is a token heterosexual in this instance lmao—see, not ALL of my AU versions of characters are queer, just most of them

Ben is bisexual... like Peter. They both prefer women to some extent, but they have slightly different tastes (...well maybe not SO different) and Ben is more uh, subby? LOL—at least with Janine. Switchy. Unlike Peter, Ben has/had? a crush on Robbie LMAO but that's more of a like, mentor/mentee admiration kind of thing... not like a "i wanna make out with you" situation. Robbie is far too old for him. and also happily married.

In my notes I have that Ben was ofc also abused by Warren but a lot of his was medical and psychological (some physical as well), but... i would think there is an undercurrent of medical sexual abuse there nonetheless esp as much of this w/ warren hinges on sexual power dynamics and control, but i won't get into that here as it's partly still being developed and I don't want to get TOO heavy on this post lol

Kaine is, like I mentioned, a little complex and i'm not 100% sure about (also aracely painted his nails) I think that he's ~bi/pan in general? but maybe not? could be only into men? or not into anyone at all. but the thing about Kaine in this universe is that he's got a difficult relationship with sex and sexuality because of what he was put through by Warren, so while I don't necessarily think he's asexual I do think in this universe he's a little bit sex-averse or sex-repulsed and has a difficult time dealing with that stuff. He also just really desperately wants to be loved and he doesn't care who as long as it's someone, which is toxic in a lot of ways i think... being around Aracely would imo help him a lot in coming to terms with having like, normal, platonic, non-sexual, non-romantic, healthy (or at least healthier) interpersonal relationships, and understanding things like that... idk where he's at by 2019 though, mental health-wise... but yeah i wasn't really sure what colors or patterns to put on his clothes so i went with the dark purple and gray tones since they are the kind of common recurring colors on a lot of ace-spec flags including repulsion and related stuff.

as a sidenote as someone who has a kind of aro and ??? relationship w/ my own bisexuality etc. (idk if i consider myself ace necessarily but it's not totally irrelevant) i also don't want to like, Just Make Him Ace because trauma (but obv betty is aro at least) cause it's not that simple etc etc etc but also there absolutely are people who consider themselves asexual from trauma or for whom it's informed by trauma (though trauma would inform any aspect of interpersonal relationships, of course, and for kaine it does)... idk idk kaine is always like, much to think about for me. He's def not like... "normal" in the eyes of cishet patriarchal culturally christian society. I mean he's disabled for one thing,

i was also considering genetic mosaicism (46,XY/47,XXY) but i did not include any intersex colors etc. because a lot of this wasn't fully hammered out yet when i drew this. I think Kaine is probably intersex though. It's not necessarily obvious to anyone who looks at him, but it's also not something that comes as a huge surprise to him.

obvs the tiny hint of a teal ribbon is the same as for Peter, sexual assault/abuse awareness, and it's small and easily hidden. probably was given to him by someone trying to be supportive (ben and janine maybe? idk)—i mean ALL of it is from other people really. the sticker on the noise cancelling headphones? def from Aracely or someone else. his presence in the first place? dragged out of the house by a 19 year old girl. he didn't even have time to do his hair and he would rather be drinking coffee in a dark room alone :/

Anyway, Janine. Less complicated.

I decided at some point Janine is straight (but not narrow, as they say) so she gets an ally shirt lol. Like Peter and Kaine, I put her in some teal including a little ribbon bow on some satin ballet flats—obviously her history as a sexual abuse survivor etc. is very, very public in contrast to peter and kaine (and arguably ben, though i don't think he necessarily conceptualizes his abuse by warren in the same way, in part because it was very medicalized) but... it's not like she would want to draw a lot of attention to that. but i also do just like teal so i think it looks nice.

like those are just genuinely cute shoes 😂 but also it's to tie it all together.

i really don't... feel like i know enough about them to figure out sexualities or if any genders are involved, and I'm a million years away from including them in any fics so a lot of that stuff simply has not been built out right now cause finer details aren't relevant to me yet (like. i'm in 2007 rn? miles is like... 8. lmao), so I just put them in some fun rainbow-y stuff. teens like going to pride and wearing rainbows right??? i mean i did.

aracely is an enigma, i don't think anyone knows what's going on with her tbh. she is there to have candy thrown at her. she seems to like boys at least a little though.

i actually do know what's up with Andi cause she's actually supposed to first appear in 200...8? when she's like. 10. she is trans, and she is also why Flash was able to accept herself more and also why Flash transitioned. Flash wanted to be a good role model to help Andi feel good about herself and to not make her feel like there was something wrong with her, and then later re: transitioning, Flash saw how happy Andi was and wanted to also... be happy like that even though she was scared. and Andi herself really was (will be, idk i never know what tense to use for this stuff) helped a lot by Flash trying to self-improve, by having a supportive babysitter, and a dad who loves her, and so on and so forth... makes a big difference!

Andi and Flash are kind of intentional contrasts here in that, where Flash took until her late 20s to really fully be able to accept herself, Andi is the kid who goes on puberty blockers in high school and knew right away she wasn't what everyone said she was. (Flash had like, hints of that, but really didn't even realize until around ~19 years old and wasn't able to act on it for like... 9 years whereas Andi just really got motoring lol)

I wasn't sure about her at first but I was chatting with Kita and I was like, thinking about her relationships and stuff and thinking, you know, she seems kinda aro... and then i was like... okay it’s been a few days since willow came out and i need people to talk about it with so here’s some scattered thoughts:

i really like that jade/kit was established as wlw right off the bat and we got a kiss in the first episode. i love me a good slowburn but it’s also nice to have a lesbian couple who are very clearly and unquestionably into each other from day one.

that being said, i also like that their stories don’t revolve around each other. i like that jade wants to become a knight and she’s not gonna let her relationship with kit compromise her dreams. i feel like kit, while a good person, is pretty privileged and jade pushes her back on that.

genuinely love that both the movie and the show employ little people instead of cgi-ing average sized people. warwick is really fun to watch on screen but i wish that so much of his dialogue wasn’t exposition.

willow’s daughter, mims, is SO fucking cute. i adore her. her actress is so goddamn charming and i was smiling every time she was on screen. i wish she could have joined the adventuring party but i understand why she didn’t.

i actually really like elora/dove as a character. i like that she’s girly, falls in love fast with a pretty boy, is allowed to be attracted to people. i called the elora twist pretty fast but that’s okay. i think she’s my favorite so far tbh.

graydon my beloved. tony revolori always makes me smile when he shows up on my screen. i think he’s the most intriguing character so far. the death of his brother, the scars on his chest, his relationship with his father. i’m kind of obsessed with him.

speaking of elora and graydon, i hope they’re the surprise couple of the show. that scene where he told her how extraordinary she was was very sweet. i’m not really feeling elora/airk like, he doesn’t even know her real name. i actually like the idea of elora having a childish puppy love for airk and then as she grows, she develops a real relationship with graydon. idk, we’ll see.

all in all, i really like the dnd-esque vibe of the show of assembling a party of misfits to go on a mission. it’s kind of silly at points but that’s part of the charm tbh.

My Equestria Girls Prefence Headcanons (Redux)

Sci Twi - Biromantic Grey Ace. I simply see her going both ways tbh, being fine with any gender as long as she’s able to connect with them, especially on a personal level. Even if they simply share some interest with her. I see her as part of the Ace spectrum, but more as a Grey Ace (someone who experiences attraction sometimes, but not often).

Sunset Shimmer - Bi, since she was confirmed to be so on Twitter (despite it not being established in the show). However, before she was confirmed to be Bi, I did headcanon her as a Lesbian. So now, I headcanon her as Bi with more of a preference for girls. She prefers females since she connects with them a lot more, but she still shows attraction to males. I also headcanon her as Bigender (female leaning).

Rainbow Dash - I still understand why most fans see her as a Lesbian (rainbow/gay flag, tomboyish/butch etc.), but I personally see her as Bi & Transfem. Rainbow to me is the kind of gal who doesn’t mind who it is as long as they can catch up to her or even share some of her interests. Sure, she’ll have her occasional exceptions (like Fluttershy), but as long as she can meet someone compatible with her, she’s a happy camper. However, I’m also starting to headcanon her as genderfluid who uses both he/him and she/her pronouns.

Applejack - Bi, with more of a preference for females. I just simply see her going both ways, but she just prefers females more. I don’t really have no other reason other than that, to be honest. I’m also starting to see her as Non-Binary (with She/Her being her main pronouns), Genderfluid, or Bigender, but still in thought.

Rarity - Bi with more of a preference for males, no doubt. From the subtext from the show (both mlp and eqg), it would seem like she’s the most traditional straight female out of all the Mane 7, but I see her being fine with either. Of course, she just prefers males more.

Fluttershy - Panromantic Demi. She has no particular preference and would only fall in love/get intimate with the one she has a deep connection with.

Pinkie Pie is both Pan & Poly! She’s the kind of girl that likes to have fun and doesn’t care who it is as long as she can make them happy! She also doesn’t mind being in a poly relationship as long as everyone is happy and understanding in said relationship.

Flash Sentry - Bi with more of a preference for women. On the surface, it would seem like that Flash is your archetype sweet, kindhearted, average highschool musician who’s just looking for “the right girl”. However, I do think that’s the case, but I also imagine him being into guys too, even if he prefers girls more lol So he’s my Bi baby, like Sci-Twi is 😊

Timber Spruce used to be Bi with more of a preference for men to me, but now he’s Pan. Like with Pinkie, he doesn’t really care who it is, he just wants to have a good time and be happy with them.

OMG I saw your recent ask and tbh I relate with your feelings about BL because of the behavior of some fans… 😭 Sexuality HCs are fun and all, but when certain fans flip out on you bc you don’t share the same HC, it isn’t so fun anymore… And some fans of uh, certain ships tend to become particularly aggressive when you don’t share their ship. Like they act like you just insulted their life and then they want to make you repent tenfold. 🤧 (I guess it’s just average day in Genshin fandom)

And the fetishization thing, I really feel this… Sometimes the way the fans act about gay relationships gives me the same vibes as the men who fetishize+dehumanize lesbian and bisexual women, as a wlw girl myself both situations feel really icky… (ofc the latter group is far more of a hazard irl but this is just about the general vibes).

I appreciate you sending this in Anon! You put it into words much better than I did. If anyone has an issue with it, they can simply block and unfollow me. You shouldn't have to walk on eggshells for saying you don't like something for legitimate reasons.

It really sucks out all the fun of participating in fandom when other people in the community won't allow you to enjoy your thing in peace. The way some people take shipping so seriously to the point of harassing anyone who doesn't share their ship is just aggravating and concerning. I swear shipping wasn't this bad some 7-8 years ago when everyone was content to mind their own business. Nowadays, you get called homophobic for simply not liking a ship that so happens to have characters of the same sex.

The word homophobia gets used as a shield to discredit anyone who disagrees with a gay or lesbian ship for whatever reason. This downplays what real homophobia is like, which is so much worse than not liking a pairing between pixels on a screen. Rather than fighting over the sexuality of fictional characters, that energy should go towards supporting and protecting the rights of real homosexual, bisexual, and asexual people.

What you said regarding the similar vibes of women fetishizing fictional gay relationships to men fetishizing lesbians/bisexual women is so true. Men fetishizing lesbian and bi women is just as gross, if not more so, since they do it to real women a lot. KinnPorsche

Tells the epic love story of Kinn and Porsche (hence the name lol). Kinn the heir to the Theerapanyakul mafia empire who crosses paths with Porsche, bartended and part-time street fighter who is then hired (against his will) to be Kinn's bodyguard. It's got mystery, intrigue, family fuckery, a pet hedgehog, way too many Maseratis, Tankhun, a Ducati that sees a lot of action, Deutsche Bank being an A+ LGBT ally, eating bread as a form of foreplay, abundance of daddy issues, a boatload of emotionally constipated men, etc.

Essentially 10/10 would recommend - also, I am obsessed with the second lead couple (Vegas and Pete)

There are some TW: potential dubcon, mafia stuff (murder, drugs, etc), Vegas (the guy, not the city. No, for real. The entire character is a walking red flag and a pathetic meow meow at the same time. You need to watch to understand), torture as a form of foreplay (again... Vegas), Jeff Satur serving gender, and probably something else that I am forgetting.

Tells the epic love story of Sam and Mon. GAP is the hottest sapphic drama in town and it's got it all: forbidden office romance, lesbians who are dating but are unaware of it, miscommunication (by the boatload), a very important learning moment on "why your nails need to be trimmed in order to avoid disaster", a wardrobe department to die for, a homophobic grandma I would like to kill, a scorned (maybe) fiancée', the average lesbian experience of falling in love and planning your wedding in the span of a week, major disrespect towards the singles community etc.

It's got quite a few camp moments that made me want to climb walls tbh but overall I loved it.

im gonna assume you're talking about the new monster high movie i mentioned earlier, if you're talking about the horror movie i apologize bc I'm semi stupid, also if you are talking about the horror movie i'll also make a post about that bc i have a lot of thoughts on the IT movies, ALSO I LOVE THIS BC I LOVE REVIEWS SO MUCH!!! i love ranting about stupid movies and ranting about things in general! feel free to ask any opinion on movies or games!!! now introducing, my VERY shitty review of Monster High: the movie (spoilers i guess) so the story starts with clawdeen, who is a werewolf, going skating, shes wearing a hoodie and stuff to hide that shes a werewolf because she doesnt belong in the human realm or something i cant remember tbh, eventually she bumps into someone and its revealed, whoopsies, she runs off home where we meet her dad (who is a human) and apparently its her 15th birthday or something, she tells her dad that she got accepted to monster high but hes kind of ehhh about it at first bc like they are against humans/half-humans eventually he gives in and she can go, woo meets frankie and draculaura who shes roommates with, meets deuce too bc romance i guess, apparently her mom was like a well respected person at monster high (her moms dead) so principal bloodgood asks her to perform a speech, also has some talk about the school being anti-human and stuff, however clawdeen feels like she belongs at monster high and is kind of nervous bc she's not fully human clawdeen discovers that when shes scared/nervous she begins transforming into a human they have a talk about jekyll and hyde in class at some point, big reveal is that the teacher who taught that class is hyde's son, hates monster high and wants to destroy it and humans because they killed his dad, stuff like that, enough with the bad summary ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ all around the movie was like an average disney channel movie tbh, girl doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere, finally finds a place where she belongs, conflict, stuff like that things i did enjoy were the friendships between frankie, draculaura and clawdeen, i thought it was cute and sweet non-binary frankie was something i also liked a lot! however i am quite sad about no lesbian clawdeen (also about them making her and deuce like each other but we'll get to that) i did like a lot of the outfits actually! frankie had outfits i would totally wear, and draculaura! very goregeous (fuck you Grammarly for correcting) the music wasn't awful, none of the songs stuck with me really but they didn't burn my ears i guess tbh i thought the set looked neat too things i did not enjoy however were the relationship between deuce and clawdeen, they didn't officially start dating or anything but it has been said they like each other, i didn't particularly feel any chemistry between them they fully removed the rest of the wolf family, did not like that some of the makeup was kinda eh but that might just be me being picky, the makeup around deuce's eyes looked very orange, and draculaura's makeup was a bit too toned down for my taste but yet again, might be me being picky ghoulia yelps in this movie- she wasn't a major character, only appeared like a few times however i didn't like that they made her talk, idk just didnt really sit right with me? the villain twist at the end was lame, they have a jekyll/hyde character in the monster high universe???? do jackson and holt mean nothing???? but i saw the twist coming, idk if they wanted us to see it coming but like i saw it idk its 2 am and im rambling, yet again please tell me if im rambling about the wrong movie! maybe i'll actually be well rested then kindly ignore how shitty my reviews are i was mostly spewing out words

A) crimeboys hands down. I love the variety you can get with the hurt/comfort and fluff and also just bc the hold those two have on my brain is so intense. i just love how many ways people can interpret their dynamic it's always so interesting to read

B) I'm a little confused on your wording but I think you're asking if I did kin anyone who would I kin and why?? sorry if that's not what you meant, but I guess if I have to kin an mcyt character uhh probably c!wilbur lmao it's the self-obsessed desperate to be admired and seen as a leader vibe that i just Get

C) crimeboys. like just look at my ao3 i think we know who my favorite duo is and it's the brothers. if i had to say a different duo then tbh sand duo (phil and wilbur)! idk why I just really love writing the two of them with how complicated and interesting their relationship is it's just fun

D) hm... well I'm really picky about amnesia as a trope. I literally couldn't find any amnesia fics that felt realistic to me so that's a huge part of why i wrote world forgetting. I wrote the amnesia fic I wanted to see in the world. another one besides that I'd say are any kind of disability aus (like where a character is blind or deaf) mainly bc... most of those authors don't know how to write disabilities. while a lot of what they write isn't intentionally ableist, there are so many ableist ideas ingrained into our society that even if you're well-meaning, it actually still comes off as extremely offensive or ignorant. I'm especially picky with anything to do with deafness. I'm not trying to say I'm an expert or anything bc I'm not deaf nor do I have a lot of irl experience with the Deaf community. but I took a year of american sign language classes in uni, all of my instructors were Deaf, and we spent a huge portion of the classes learning about Deaf culture and I've watched a lot of videos from Deaf people talking about their culture or documentaries talking about issues in the community because it's just interesting to me to learn about. so I'd say I at least have a bit more knowledge on Deaf culture than the average abled person does, hence why anytime I see someone trying to write deafness into a fic it just gets on my nerves bc there's usually so many inaccuracies

E) lesbians are amazing!! I identified as a lesbian my senior year of high school and tbh I might go back to identifying as one eventually just bc my sexuality is super up in the air rn. girls are just... /pos :)

i’m not one to police peoples gender identity until it comes to “afab transfem” or “amab transmasc” tbh. (cis) peoples relationships with gender/transsexuality can be complicated and that’s fine but i think the entire concept of afab transfems is inherently insane and insensitive to the average transsexual women fighting to be seen as a woman in a transmisogynistic world. ultimately i think that defining yourself within such a small box can be both good and bad: it introduces new terms for you to help yourself understand your identity but also once you start theorizing about your identity and adding label upon label it ultimately is restricting. a lesbian may be seen as “high femme” for various reasons for example but may not identify with the term themself because these labels mean nothing unless you give meaning to them.

also i saw an afab transfem say she was “disappointed that amab trans women excluded me from trans feminine spaces” which is like. yeah. you aren’t a transsexual woman or a trans feminine person. why would you need access to those spaces?😭

Literally no one asked for this but because I spent the majority of last year (...and 2019, and 2018...) reading byler fics and coping with life, I thought I’d make a list of some of my absolute favorites. 

The other day I was basically starving for some byler fics and the angel @magicalfairy provided me with some of her faves so I thought I’d do the same, because I love reading, and I love all of these fics and I appreciate their writers💗 And fic writers in general, come on!

- This is a mix of long works and one-shots/short stories. - Everything is mostly fluff with a tad of angst and a lot of internalized homophobia conflict.  - Every fic is completed, except for the ones I mention that they are not. - I try my best to lay out the stories in a way that I won’t spoil you the plot but also warning you of some stuff you might don’t like. Either way, all of these fics are correctly tagged by their respective authors/owners, so read at your own risk. For better understanding, in between brackets I denote Rating, Words and quantity of Chapters. - I feel like I should clarify, none of these are narrated in the singular first person. None of that “And I told him...”, no. 

Long fics

a dream always the same (T, 99k, 35 chapters) What happened in those few weeks between the Battle of Starcourt and the Byers leaving Hawkins. Literally a satisfying and very needed fill in of season three, with a good dose of Mike’s thoughts and conflict. Mike’s characterization is specially amazing in this one. The writing style is amazing and I know the author put everything into making it historically accurate, and it was really sweet. You probably read it, it’s by the amazing sevensided here on Tumblr🧡

Spring Break (T, 120k, 14/15 chapters) The slowburn of my dreams. Lots of internalized conflict and conflict with each other. Conflict within the Party (uhh kind of), conflict with Mike and Will. Byers family has moved and the kids are visiting! Chaos. Characterization is on point. Yeah, I know it’s unfinished, but the fourteenth chapter actually serves as a pretty nice ending. 

This is where it starts (M, 148.8k, 24 chapters) Aged up characters. The Party is in college and Will disappears again, but now it’s different. Mike knows he didn’t vanish from thin air, and the discovery he and the Party end up making is pretty insane. Mystery solving/fantasy/third dimension, throw in a bit of D&D and Mike realizing some shit, and you get this marvelous fic. It’s a breath of fresh air. The world building is definitely one of the elements that stands out the most, because it’s very nicely described, it sounds like a dream and it’s completely immersive. Absolute gem of a fic. 

there’s a Starman waiting in the sky (M, 30.6k, 8 chapters) Do I need to say anything? Will is out there living his best life and Mike realizes that wow, umm, maybe his best friend looks a bit too nice with that costume... and wait, is he getting horny? It’s actually really fun and sexy.

The Evening Speaks (T, 23k, 7 chapters) In where Mike is a late-night college radio host and Will is the art student that stays up till late to catch up with Wheeler on the Mic. They flirt through songs y’all, this one is really sweet. 

heads or tails? (E, 24k, 3 chapters) Aged up characters. I know most people don’t enjoy sex in fics and with specific characters but this one is insanely well written. It’s a slowburn that commits to the tension and with every word you are grasping and anticipating their next move. I think you can find the author here on Tumblr as yousaidyes🧡

The Man of Average (M, 56.7k, 5/? chapters) Aged up characters. No but you don’t understand, the writing here is absolute gourmet. The story is exciting as well, it’s super interesting. Weirdly enough, for being very aged up characters, they are well characterized but they don’t feel like teenagers. They are naturally Mike and Will. The author really captured Mike and Will’s essence. I know, it’s unfinished and it’s updated very rarely, but this is the typical fic you can’t believe someone just posted on the internet for free. I will say though, I think it’s definitely not for everyone. Read at your own risk.

Heartstrings (E, 82.8k, 24/? chapters) Aged up characters. By the same author of The Man of Average. A collection of memories, the road to Mike and Will’s happy ever after. And fucking hell!!!!! You’ll cry and get angry, you’ll cheer for them, then you’ll want to crash their faces together because god dammit you love each other!!! But yeah, same thing here. The writing and the way the story is laid out as a nonlinear narrative is brilliant. And I also think this is one of the best Will versions I’ve read. The author might as well be the og creator of this two characters tbh. You can find the author here as mylesimeblr🧡

Sinners behind the walls (T, 1.5k, 1/1) And because I can’t stop recommending this author, a little thing of Mike tormenting himself but also being too deeply committed to Will. 

The Red Envelope series (T/E, 167K, two completed works) Something happens that Will thought was impossible and from there, pure drama and romance. Anything by this author has the potential to become your absolute favorite fic, but this series in particular is amazing. I doubt that any of you haven’t read this, but it doesn’t hurt to put it in this list. I’m pretty sure the author is serendipitous-magic on Tumblr🧡

A New Fight series (T, 91k, two completed works, one WIP) And finally the Star Wars AU that we all needed. But this isn’t your typical “Mike is Han”, “Will is Leia” and “El is Luke”, it’s way more interesting than that, and the author has appropriated the Star Wars world like no other. I’ll admit I’m not a 100% fluent in SW lore but this is amazing to me either way. This author is also on Tumblr, tea-for-one-please🧡

- Yes, most of these are (if not all), in a way, canon compliant/canonverse/canon continuation into fanon. (In a way)

kiss it better (T, 16.3k) Basically one of the best character studies of a few precise moments of Mike and Will’s relationship and feelings. 

will wonders ever cease (T, 11.3k) #i ship will and happiness. Omfg what a beautiful piece of fanfic. Will centric, this kid really deserves all the good in the world.

The Calm After the Storm (T, 1.6k) Tooth rotting fluff, boyfriends in love. Boyfriends being lazy, cuddling, love words, kisses. Boys loving each other’s company... Basically, Mike and Will in their element. What more can you ask for?

neither of us ready to let go (T, 4.8k) That scene from season three, but a bit of a fix it. 

Still in love (G, 1k) Domestic, married life au fluff. Y’all, I’m a sucker for established Byler, even if I can’t find many fics with it. But this is very sweet. It takes place in 2020, but I don’t think there are any mentions of the COVID-19 crisis that I remember.

I Nver Find Out ‘Til I’m Head Over Heels (G, 12.5K) Classic 5+1 fic. If you haven’t read it, where have you been? This is your moment. In where Mike keeps inviting Will to the school dances and Will thinks it’s just a joke until he realizes it’s not. 

Before You’re Gone (T, 5.9k) Will is leaving Hawkins and Mike thinks this is a great moment for a confession. This one I discovered last friday, thank you friend @magicalfairy 💗

You’re weird Wheeler (M, 4.5k) Mike unintentionally starts a tradition of going to each other to talk about their sexual encounters just after they finish. Will keeps getting more explicit with the details he shares, and he makes his best friend interested. This one is really fun y’all.

Out-Of-Town Friends (N/R, 4.6K) It’s not rated. I haven’t re- read it but I’d say it would probably fall in a T rating. So cute!! Will has new friends and sneaks off every friday and the Party doesn’t know where he is going, so Mike decides to follow him and is surprised. 

Snowed Under (G, 1.3k) By the same author of The New Fight series. Mike is spending christmas by himself in college because a snowstorm hits Chicago and Nancy can’t drive to see him, but then he has a surprise visitor. Ahhh just a lil sweet holiday fic. Super cute. 

you love me anyway series (T, 7.1k, three completed works) Literally just the cutest thing ever. Established Byler. Will loves to take pictures and he loves taking pictures of Mike. It’s adorable. 

you wanna be friends forever (i can think of something better) (T, 9k) This one is so amazing. So. Amazing. From Will’s POV, my kid deserves the world and he gets it. 

okay not to be okay (T, 4.9k) Mike is a bit sad but then everything is okay.
