Part 15 of Sicktember 2021-2022 series
Summary: It's Peter's first year in college and his first solo experience in taking care of himself, fully and completely, while sick. He's not sure what to do or how to properly handle the situation. Especially since he'd enhanced. So, he consults his two favorite adults.

[Except Below the Cut]
Peter’s day had started out in a normal enough manner. He woke up to his alarm and hit the snooze button no less than three times before rolling out of bed. Then he grabbed a pair of pants out the pile on the floor and gave them a hesitant sniff. Once he’d deemed them fresh enough, he threw them on and ran across the campus towards the dining hall for breakfast. There were all of the ordinary choices; barely toasted bread, overcooked eggs and undercooked bacon. He grabbed a plate and sat down at his usual table to scarf it down, realizing partway through that he wasn’t all that hungry. Internally, he shrugged and disposed of his trash. He had a lecture starting soon and he really wanted to go over some of his notes before it started.
From there, Peter’s day started to go downhill. The lecture hall seemed cooler than usual and he found himself spending more time rubbing his hands up and down his arms than taking notes. But he figured that was fine. He understood what was being explained and was already planning to attend a study group later in the day. There was bound to be someone there who could help him get caught up.
After class he wandered into the courtyard and lay in the grass under one of the numerous trees. The sun was warm and white noise created by the passing students was nice. Peter sighed tiredly as he propped a book up against one of the larger roots and began to read. He only got through about four pages before his eyes began to droop. He wanted to say that was expected, but the truth was he’d gotten much better about going to bed at a reasonable hour. He tried to think back to what time he’d gone to sleep the night before and came up blank. Idly, he rolled onto his back and cleared his throat when it began to itch. When the sensation lingered, he cleared his throat again, followed by a few experimental coughs. Eventually, he sat up and buried his head knees. It was then he realized that he just felt off in general.
The remainder of the day passed slowly. He ate a mediocre cafeteria lunch, then went back to his dorm to plug in his phone and take a quick power nap. Next on the agenda was the study group, and he managed to get there right one time. Though, outside of filling in his notes, he didn’t actually get anything done. He debated going back to his dorm afterward but wasn’t sure he’d want to reemerge for dinner if he did. So, he made himself comfortable in a corner of the library and got to work on a powerpoint that, technically, he should have already started. It was due at the end of the week. Although he quickly realized he didn’t actually possess the focus or the motivation required to generate any sort of progress. Frustrated, he slammed his laptop closed and dug the heels of his hands into his eyes. He could feel a headache brewing and decided that he may as well grab an early dinner and head back to his dorm.
The plan had been to go to bed early. The problem was that there was an itch at the back of his throat and no matter how many blankets he threw onto his bed, he couldn’t seem to get warm. Even after he’d gotten up to turn off his fan. Although it wasn’t until his joints started to ache that he started to wonder if perhaps he was coming down with something. He considered checking his temperature but was ninety-nine point nine percent sure he didn’t have a thermometer. And he didn’t particularly want to go out to attempt and purchase one. It occurred to him that he could call May. She was a nurse and could presumably give him a good idea of how to tell without having to go out. However, as he picked up his phone he abruptly realized how late it was.
Frettingly, he chewed at his lip and tried to decide what to do. May tended to work early shifts and was likely already in bed. He really didn’t want to wake her up for something that felt so trivial. It wasn’t like he was dying. He was just a little uncomfortable and knowing whether or not he had a fever would help him decide how to proceed. With a small defeated sigh, he clicked on Tony’s contact instead.
“Hey, Kid. It’s after eleven. What’s up?” Tony cheerily greeted.

Sleepless Thoughts
@comfortember Day 4. Overthinking + 24. Night Time
Summary: May sighed softly, the corners of her mouth creasing as she looked at him. Peter didn't have to guess to know what she was seeing. He could feel his eyes burning and knew they would be bloodshot and that his face would be pale.
Resting her hand on his cheek, May smiled sadly at him. "Nothing?" She asked quietly and Peter shook his head, answer still the same from when they had texted earlier.
"Nothing."
Read on AO3
Being tired wasn't something that Peter was unaccustomed to. He was a teenager after all. He was forced to get up at frankly terrifying hours to get to school, stay up late just to finish homework, and then stay up even later because he didn't want to waste some of the free time he had at night.
And then when you add in his vigilante extracurricular activities, well… Peter was certainly no stranger to being tired.
But this? This was something far more than just tiredness. This was exhaustion plain and simple. And it wasn't even for any good reason. There were no late night wake up calls because Spider-Man was needed, there were no tests or quizzes that needed late night study sessions, there weren't even any series or tik toks that he felt like staying up too late watching.
He just couldn't sleep, and he was so, so tired. And Peter had joked about being tired before, had thought he'd had rough nights with insomnia, but he had never gone on this late into the night (or was it early at this point?) without dozing off at least once, for no matter how long.
He had tried everything he could think of. He counted sheep, he'd warmed a mug of milk and honey, turned on various white, ambient, and brown noises, done some sit ups and push ups, worked through meditation and breathing techniques that Natasha had taught him. Hell, he'd even tried just laying in bed with his eyes closed, but the only thing he achieved was laying there while another hour passed without him getting a single wink of sleep.
And then the thoughts started coming. Every anxiety, fear, and worry that he had manifesting and slowly taking over his mind until he felt like he was going to shake out of skin from the various and ever-changing trails of thoughts.
The way that darkness could swallow a room when a candle was blown out, the same way that Peter's thoughts started swirling and flooding into every corner and crevice of his mind.
The tumbled this way and that, flinging everything from his worries over not being able save someone as Spider-Man, to losing someone he loved, to (ironically) falling asleep during a chemistry exam, or even tripping and falling in front of people.
In a fit of desperation, Peter threw his blankets aside and fled his room, pacing the apartment almost as if he was trying (and failing) to outrun his own mind.
He momentarily pondered turning the TV on but knew that the artificial light on top of not sleeping would wreak havoc on his senses. They were already heightened due to the lack of sleep and stress it was causing. It was bad enough to cause an overload but they were heightened enough to the extent that he could even make out thunder in the distance even above the never ending New York noise.
Collapsing on the couch, Peter lost track of time, swirling thoughts and sleeplessness blurring together until he was brought back by the sounds of keys in the door to the apartment. He didn't bother getting up, May would see him when she walked in, anyway.
He was proven right when his aunt's hand ran gently over his head moments later, and Peter couldn’t even recall hearing her lock the door or put down any of her stuff. All of which she'd done and more when he lifted his head to see her crouched in front of him dressed in pajamas and her hair still wet from her shower.
He could see her scrubs dumped in their was basket from where it had been loved near the door to take down to wash in the morning.
May sighed softly, the corners of her mouth creasing as she looked at him.
"Nothing."
May nodded. "Okay." She stood, pulling on his hand and dragging him down the hall to her own room. Pushing the door open, she led him to the bed where she made him sit before she disappeared out the door. She came back moments later, his favourite blanket in hand.
Settling herself in the middle of the bed, back resting against the headboard, May lifted the covers and held out the blanket and Peter took it, curling it around him before sliding under the duvet and resting his head in May's lap.
With one hand she started combing through his curls, and the other rubbed soothing circles over his back.
Peter still didn't sleep that night. He dozed for a half hour near 6am, but nothing close to fully sleeping. But May was there, she stayed with him, running hands through his hair and down his back, occasionally murmuring stories from her shift or little memories from when she was younger.
And Peter didn't sleep, but it was okay because May was there, and when May was there, his thoughts were quiet.
He was tired, exhausted. But his mind was silent.
And it stayed quiet even when May would call him in sick to school the next day and they would spend the entire day lounging on the couch and watching rubbish TV, eventually falling asleep with the popcorn bowl still sitting between them.

I have a Decent pc to play spiderman miles and morales but game is so laggy while playing.
Tumblr media
lots of Reason to laggy game: like processor, ram, graphic card and ssd.
Speed: SSDs are much faster than HDDs, as they have no moving parts and can access stored data almost instantly. This can make a significant difference in the speed and performance of your computer. currently your are using hard disk immediately replace to ssd
i will suggest you this Solid State Drive
2 processor:-A faster processor will be able to perform these tasks more quickly and efficiently, which can result in a smoother and more immersive gaming experience.it is important to choose a processor with a high clock speed and multiple cores when building a gaming computer.
minimum pc requirement in this game Intel Core i3-4160, 3.6 GHz. but i will suggest you this processor
3 Ram :- RAM is important for gaming because it allows the processor to access the data it needs quickly, which can result in a smoother and more immersive gaming experience. A lack of sufficient RAM can cause the processor to slow down as it has to wait for data to be transferred from slower storage, such as a hard drive or solid-state drive, which can result in lower frame rates and other performance issues.
i will suggest you 16gb ram is must like this Ram
4. graphic card :-A powerful graphics card is important for gaming because it allows the computer to generate high-quality graphics and maintain a smooth frame rate. A weaker graphics card may struggle to keep up with the demands of the game, which can result in lower frame rates and other performance issues. game minimum graphic card requirement is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 but this is so week.
i will suggest you this graphic card this is best graphic card to run all 1080p budget gaming graphic card to all game.
i recommended you about all product this is my own research based.

Rescue and Ruin
Pairing: Anthony Bridgerton x fem!reader
Summary: Anthony rescues something for you... and it will likely lead to your ruin.
Tumblr media
Warnings: None really. Flirting, sexual tension, banter, and the promise of more. A lot of teasing, soaking wet Viscount.
Word Count: 2.7k
Author's Note: Unbetaed. Very belated request fill for @daisfordaysstuff (request:  I’m rewatching season 2 again, and I think I need one on this scene [lake Anthony]). I just had to post an Anthony story today to commemorate the birthday of Jonathan Bailey, the man who plays this titan of a fictional character. This is actually my oldest request fill, lingering in my inbox since Sept 2022. Sorry, my lovely; I hope late is better than never. I just got an idea of how I wanted this to play out. I hope you enjoy <3
Tumblr media
“I’ll get it!”
A chivalrous call comes as you watch in dismay as your favourite bonnet take off in a gust of wind and flies over the lake, landing almost gracefully about twenty feet out into the gently rippling water.
You had just stolen down to the water's edge to get away from the crowds for a few moments of solitude, drawn to the beauty of the water as the sun danced on the little peaks caused by the gusty breeze. It had looked like a shimmering mirage from the terrace.
You are shocked when the one and only Viscount Anthony Bridgerton gives you a brief, polite nod as he passes you, then dives off a little jetty, still fully clothed, making you gasp loudly.
What on earth?!?
This is his garden party. Well, strictly his mother's, but he is Viscount, and this is the Bridgerton family country estate, Aubrey Hall. You are still awestruck to be here, a guest of your maternal aunt you are staying with here in Kent. Why on earth he would dive into his lake to rescue something as trivial as a hat seems mystifying. You are certain he has staff that could assist rather than take it upon himself and quite clearly ruin his outfit.
He re-emerges to the surface from his dive and swims with awe-inspiring speed towards your hat as it skates across the surface, propelling along not unlike some toy boat. When he finally reaches it, he holds it aloft triumphant and twists to swim back one-handed as he keeps it above the water.
You find yourself drawn down to the jetty he jumped off of. To give your thanks, express your surprise, and take back your hat and hope it is salvageable. You twist around to check, but all the other party guests seem oblivious to the incident or his actions, the string quartet playing so loudly closer to the house and the buffet table so laden everyone's eyes and ears are preoccupied.
“Thank you, my lord,” you demure as he pulls up to the jetty and places your bonnet on the wooden slats by your feet. “That was completely unnecessary, but I am, of course, so very grateful,” you curtsy and pick up the bonnet.
Luckily, thanks to his swift actions, it will be fine. Just the brim and lower edge touched the water. You wring out the soaked ribbons as best you can, then wrap them around your neck and tie them in a secure bow. It may be too wet to wear on your head for now, but at least it should dry while tied securely and draped down over your back. You curtsy again as you feel him watching you, unsure what else to do to convey your gratitude.
He laughs, and you see him fighting with the buttons on his jacket, still standing in the lake, the water around waist height. “There is no need to curtsy or to be so formal Miss…?” he squints up at you expectantly.
“Oh, it's Miss y/l/n,” you rush out and, for some reason, curtsy again.
“I mean it; please stop curtsying, especially to a man in such a state as me,” he says drolly, fighting off his jacket and tossing it, sodden and heavy, onto the jetty.
You are blatantly staring as he peels away his waistcoat and fights with his cravat. His thin cotton white shirt has turned entirely transparent in the water; it is barely there. Under it, you can see so much skin, toned and rippling muscle as his jerking movements strip off his clothing. Over his chest is a patch of dark hair clinging to the material you cannot look away from. You have never even so much as seen how a man looks without a shirt on before, and this sight makes your heart pound and your body tingle.
Glancing up from his actions, the corner of his mouth quirks up, and you know he has caught you—openly ogling him. Your cheeks are aflame, and you cut your eyes away.
“You may look, Miss y/l/n,” his pitch has dropped to something low and velvety, and it buzzes right into your core. Hesitantly your eyes dart back to his handsome face; the lip quirk spreads into a devastating, stunning smile. “It is alright; no one has marked us,” he assures, his gaze cutting to your right towards the house, then back to your face. “You shall not have broken any rules of propriety by talking with me. Or staring at me as you are,” he teases, an eyebrow arching appealingly.
“My lord, that is not what….” You begin to protest, knowing it's a lie even as you voice it; your reflex to appear chaste is so crucial to your need to find a match that your aunt and parents are so desperate for you to make.
But your words die out as he places both hands firmly on the dock and propels himself up and out of the water in one swift, athletic move. Your tongue feels too heavy in your mouth as he unfurls upwards from the kneeling position, drawing up to his full height. Water sluices down his body and makes his clothing cling to every single contour of his toned, defined torso. He looms closer; you tilt backwards, entranced by the tracks of droplets over the lines of his handsome face, his burned umber eyes catching the sunlight and boring into you as he crowds closer.
“Do not lie to yourself or to me, Miss y/l/n,” he rumbles, “we both know you were and, indeed, continue to stare”.
His words make your body riot; your stays feel too tight for your lungs to breathe, your skin pricking hot. He’s so close now you can smell the vaguely mossy lake smell on his skin, on what little clothing he has left on; it’s dancing there on the breeze alongside something spicier and amber that you can only assume is his cologne. You want to stutter an apology, to offer your thanks again, to ask him to leave, to ask him to stay, to ask him to touch you—so many jumbled, contradictory thoughts.
“The more pertinent question is, do you like what you see?” he murmurs and leans in, his words ghosting warm on the shell of your ear.
This is the sort of thing your aunt has warned you about. Rakes. Handsome, wealthy, titled men who will tease and take what they can from young, innocent ladies such as yourself. You want to be affronted, tell him to desist, and give him a scathing remark about appropriate behaviour. But once again, you don't. Your body drawn to him, you want to trace your fingers over the swell of his chest muscles, to feel those strong arms grab your waist and haul you against his sodden form.
“No answer is, in some ways, an answer,” he chuckles with a lilt that is both arrogant and devastatingly attractive.
“My lord, we may be seen at any moment…” Your protest is weak and breathy, not moving away as he continues to stand far too close to you, as lake water drips onto your shoes.
Suddenly a clammy hand wraps around your elbow, and you are being pulled towards the nearby cluster of thick trees and bushes that abut the lake. You almost stumble and smack into him face-first as he pulls up short and releases your arm. The air feels cooler here, with dappled shade, verdant and alive with the scent of flowering bushes and leaves. The view of the house and, indeed, the party guests is wholly obscured. No one would ever know you are here.
“Do you have an answer now that we cannot be seen?” he breathes inches from you, towering over you.
“My lord… I,” you cannot find words, hanging your head. You know this is wrong. Very wrong. Your aunt would kill you for being this wanton, for allowing him to do this to you. And yet…. Every fibre of your being wants this. To see what he will do. To see what you will let him do. You suspect it's more than you even understand.
“Say it after me….” he intones, a finger tilting your chin up to look into his fiery gaze.
“I…” he begins.
“I…” you parrot.
“Like…”
“Like,” you repeat, and the grin on his face grows wider.
“What….”
“What,” your breath quickening with each word.
“I…”
“I,” that finger still lingers under your chin, caressing gently.
“See.”
“See,” you exhale shakily.
“There. Now was that so hard…hmmm?” he teases, that finger now joined by his thumb stroking over the point of your chin, the lake water running down his forearm to the point of material bunched under his elbow that now drips down the front of your dress. The dampness seeps through the material and into your heated skin.
The cord of tension in the air is palpable. You don't know what to say or what to do.
“I have another question for you,” he buzzes, and the fingers on your chin slip lower, over your throat, lighting a line of fire as they trail over your delicate skin. Your pulse pounding in your veins. You swallow hard and feel the calloused fingertips trace into your suprasternal notch. “Maybe this one you can answer,” he huffs a sarcastic laugh as your body spirals and you fight to keep your breath even.
“What is it, my lord?” your voice barely a whisper.
“Would you be willing to help me, your gracious host today, get dry?” he practically purrs.
“How…. how on earth could I do that?” you stumble.
He smiles predatory and so handsome you give up and let your chest heave, ragged breathing.
“Under your dress, you wear a chemise, do you not?” he continues, those fingers tracing over the wet bow of your bonnet strings tied over your clavicle.
“Yes, my lord,” you answer shakily.
“Well did you know such items can be an excellent towel in a pinch,” he shrugs one shoulder and lifts an eyebrow as his fingers slip lower over your breastbone until they reach the neckline of your dress, at the swell of your breast.
There is no point in pretending he is not utterly destroying you now. You can’t school anything—the blush darkening over your skin, creeping up from your chest, the tingle in your lips, the hot flush you feel all over. A viscous pulse in your underwear that feels entirely alien and where your decision-making seems to be centred at right this very moment.
“So I suppose my last question, for now, is, are you willing to give it to me?” you gasp at his turn of phrase as those fingers swirl patterns over the neckline of your dress. “Your chemise, of course,” he amends with a wink.
Utter, utter rake.
“H-how can I give you my chemise without removing my dress too?” you wonder aloud.
“Well, that is the challenge, isn't it?” he smirks. “Now I can see two options here. I can do the gentlemanly thing, turn my back and allow you to undress and then you may hand me your chemise once decent again. I will dry myself the best I can and return to the house to change.”
“And the second option?” you cannot resist querying.
“Ahh, that,” he seems to pull even closer, and the fingers slip over the neckline and onto the silk ruching that covers your breasts; even through the material layers, you can feel his fingers lingering over your nipple and the throbbing between your legs turns almost painful. “The second option is that I am not a gentleman. Not in the slightest,” his answer cryptic but dripping with a dark, forbidden promise.
“What does that involve…?” you pant.
You watch, enthralled, as his tongue pokes out of his mouth and licks his bottom lip, and in seeming slow-motion, his mouth begins to form a shape to speak words…
“ANTHONY!!”
The yell is from a few feet away, on the other side of the bushes. Both of you jump apart as if burned.
“ANTHONY?!” the male voice calls again, “ARE YOU AROUND?”
It's obvious the person has no idea you are merely a few feet away, only that they are looking for him.
Stay here, Anthony mouths silently, and you nod, your heart beating wildly at the whiplash of experiences.
With one rueful glance at you, at the interrupted moment, he turns around and fights through the mass of foliage back out to the lawn.
“Oh, there you are!” the voice exclaims. “We wondered what the devil had happened to you!!”
“Colin…” you hear him respond.
“Hell and the devil. Why are you soaked through?? Did you decide to go for a swim fully clothed? Did you find my special tea??” his voice ramping up in incredulity as he likely clocks Anthony's bedraggled appearance.
“I have no idea what you are referring to,” Anthony’s reply seems clipped. “I rescued a small beautiful creature, if you must know,” he obfuscates.
“Ahh, hero antics,” Colin laughs. “Well, you had better go change right away. Mother expects you to make a toast for our esteemed guests in a few minutes.”
You hear Anthony’s frustrated noise of derision and have to stifle your giggle behind the back of your hand between deep breaths, trying to bring yourself back to a state of normality after the rollercoaster of experiences you just had.
“Urghhh, alright,” Anthony sighs, embattled, “I think I dropped my pocket watch back in the bushes. Give me one moment to find it, and I will accompany you back to the house.”
“Side entrance,” Colin responds dryly.
“Indeed,” you hear Anthony call.
You tense as the bushes before you start to rustle as he fights through them to reach you. He stalks up to you, and you gasp audibly.
“Shhh,” he warns quietly, his lips right at your ear, gusting hot, “it looks as if I must sadly depart. Your chemise is safe for today, Miss y/l/n.”
With a boldness you didn’t know yourself capable of, you grab the shirt's sleeves rolled up around his elbows.
“I would never want not to be helpful to you, my lord,” you whisper tremulant, fingers twisting in the soaked fabric. “If removing my chemise can ever be of assistance to you in future, please be sure to let me know.”
You cannot believe you allow yourself to say something so scandalous.
He pulls back slightly, and it's his turn to exhale unsteadily, his pupils dilated; his expression wild. You can see a vein hammering in his throat.
“Oh goddd,” he moans, closing his eyes as if pained.
“What?” concern suddenly flooding your tone.
His eyes reopen, and they pin you with their intensity.
“Mark my words,” his tone is low, gravelly, “if you continue to talk so brazenly, it will only encourage me.”
It is the sexiest warning bell you have ever heard.
“And if you continue to tease and defy me, I will pursue you. Relentlessly,” he growls, and once again, your body is rioting.
“Good god. How long does it take to find a pocket watch, man?” Colin calls impatiently, once again breaking the moment between you as it threatens to bubble over.
“I've found it!” Anthony twists to call over his shoulder. “I’ll be there presently!”
“Hurry up!” Colin grouses.
Anthony turns back, and his breath is hot over your cheek. He seems to stare at your lips for an inordinate amount of time as you stare back. Transfixed.
“Today, I shall be a gentleman,” he states reluctantly and draws away slightly. “However…” and your heart spikes in victory, “once that clock strikes midnight. I make no promises. And I shall be standing right here,” his tone decisive, his finger pointing to the spot right by his feet. “Just so you and your chemise will know where to find me,” he rumbles, then gives you a polite bow and is gone.
You have to grab onto a tree to stop yourself from swooning. Already knowing you will be stealing away from your room as the clock strikes midnight. Uncaring of consequences.
You want him to ruin you.

2022
Switzerland May 10th
"I hereby announce my retirement from Formula 1 by the end of the 2022 season."
Diana, who was in front of his husband, nodded her head while she was standing next to his sister. The Aston Martin driver was focused on reading everything he had to say thanks to the prompter he had a few meters away from him.
After a pause, Vettel continued reading the speech he prepared with a huge effort for more time that he'd like to remember. The German was absolutely conscious that his life would change the moment that video was published, and he was every time more aware that there was no time to go back.
"As much as I love life on track, there's life off track too," he said. "The decision of me retiring hasn't been an easy one, but after talking with myself, with my wife and many more important people in my life, I came up with the conclusion that it's time to take a step forward. If I say that Formula 1 hasn't been a crucial part of my life, I'm lying and I'd be just a hypocrite. I got many achievements as a driver, but also the biggest one a man could ask for: having the opportunity to form your own family."
Britta, his PR, looked and analyzed her client's voice and gestures. After many years together, their relationship went from a just professional to a familiar one. The woman tried to think about the impact the words of the four-time world champion in the biggest motorsport category would have on people, but those moments were tough to think about.
"As many of you may know, my job demands an enormous effort both physically and mentally. For this reason I would like, from now on," the voice of the bond man began to tremble slightly with contained emotion, "to dedicate more time to my family: my wife, Diana, whom you all know for being the one who made my first victory possible, and the one who's been by my side as a strategist since 2012; and, of course, to my little ones, Emily, Charlotte and Matilda. Every time I come back home, they've grown at least five centimeters!"
The little girls, who were barely aware of what their dad's message would entail, were busy playing with their aunt, Lara, a game she suggested: to stay as quiet as they could, so the winner would be the first to talk to uncle Lando that day.
"I want to be the father and husband they deserve," Seb continued, looking tenderly at his daughters playing and the baby Diana was holding. "I want to be there for every significant moment, every laugh, every tear, every achievement, and every failure, because if there's one thing I've learned over these past ten years is that, in order to succeed, sometimes we must experience failure first."
Diana, with the emotion running through her veins, tightly grasped her sister-in-law's hand while, quickly, tried to wipe away the tears in her eyes.
"I would like to take this moment to express my gratitude to every team and teammate I've been working with, whether they're a driver or not. And last, but not least, to the fans of the sport," he paused briefly:" you've made my life both heaven and hell most of the times, and even though there have been ups and downs during these 15 years, I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support you've given me after all this time."
Once Sebastian nodded his head, Britta rushed to turn off the camera that was in front of him. Finally, the German could breathe a sigh of relief, although there was still something more important that he had to face with Diana.
The looks the women gave him were a mix of nostalgia, support and price, though the latter was most prominent. Immediately, the little girls ran to their father, who was still sitting in the chair where he had remained throughout the recording. Seeing his oldest closer, followed by the middle one, he decided to get down on his knees with his arms open and ready to give them a hug.
"Daddy, I'm so proud of you," said Emily, clinging tightly to her dad's neck, "now you'll be able to take us to school because we'll be able to go to school!"
Sebastian laughed, wrapping his daughters with his arms, taking special care not to harm Charlotte who, due to her shorter stature, barely reached her father's chest. She withdrew with a swift movement, and then, once her sister had given her green light, she raised her little arms while approaching Vettel, who picked her up in the air and carried her on his hips.
"I love you so so so much, daddy," the middle daughter of the Vettels said, brimming with joy while playing with the driver's curls.
Vettel gently kissed the younger one's cheek and tousled Emily's hair, affectionately taking her by her shoulders in order to bring her closer to him, on the opposite side where her sister was.
"I've spent a lot of time with the fast guys, so now it's my turn to be with you and mom", the man explained to his girls. "In fact, I'm pretty sure aunt Lara will visit Lando more than once." "Uncle Lando!" Charlotte squealed in his ear, correcting her father. "It's uncle Lando, daddy," corrected the girl.
Lara approached her brother with a knowing look, silently conveying that she would take the girls and the baby so that he could have that intimate conversation with his wife about the documentary that had talked a lot. Sebastian nodded in agreement, and he started to feel a sense of tension as the dark-haired woman extended both hands towards her nieces, and took little Matilda in her arms.
"What do you think about FaceTime with Lando, little ones?" suggested Lara. "We can explain to him the game we've been playing so he can join us the next time he comes over." The girls, excited to talk to the British driver they liked so much —unlike a certain Dutchman who had dated their aunt previously— quickly took Lara's hands and dragged her towards their playroom.
"Yes, yes, let's call uncle Lando!"
Their almost simultaneous voices could be heard in the distance. Finally, only the married couple and their public relations remained.
Britta had tried to talk to the married couple on multiple occasions about the offer that Apple TV had presented to make a documentary about the four-time world champion's career at the end of the 2021 season, but the efforts had been in vain. Now, with the ultimatum that the publicist had received from the streaming platform just a couple of days before, it was clear that they couldn't avoid the topic anymore, and Diana and Sebastian Vettel were aware of it.
"Seb, Di," the older woman began, "I know you both have a completely different view on the documentary, but the answer is simple: yes or no."
Vettel sighed, feeling his body tense up.
"Britta: you, of all people, know everything I went through at RedBull," the German explained, trying not to get upset. "You know that the hate and negative criticism were constant, and they didn't stop no matter how much not only me, but also Di, proved otherwise."
"We need to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision, boy," Britta replied, "even though we don't have much time for that."
"Sunshine," Diana joined the conversation, "I understand you're afraid, but you can't let your past hold you back. Plus, we've matured over all these years, and I think it's the perfect opportunity to silence many of those who spoke, and still speak, against us."
The PR nodded in response to the driver's wife's words, acknowledging that both viewpoints had some merit.
Still, there wasn't a clear answer yet.
"Sebastian, trust me, I completely understand what you're saying, but you have to consider the incredibly positive impact this documentary can have not only to you image, but also to you projects. Obviously, you image was 'cleaned up' the moment you joined Ferrari, and you weren't seen as the enemy anymore, but..."
"Britta", the redhair interrupted, "I'm sorry to cut you off, but I'd like to remind you that during my husband's time at the red team, they were still playing dirty tricks on us," she explained, her voice tinged with anger. "Not only we were hounded by paparazzi almost all the time, they also leaked a private video of us! And do you remember when I went into labor, and they chased Charles, Mick and I? And many other things that you, from everyone, knows."
Neither of the other two knew how to respond to Diana.
"You have no idea what I've had to face," the driver's wife continued, "every day, for all these years. I don't regret accepting the offer Toro Rosso gave me back in 2008 to be an intern while I studied my degree," she explained, "but I don't think I would have accepted it if I had known everything I would have to go through to live my happily ever after."
"Darling..."
"No, Sebastian!" the youngest woman shouted, furious, pushing her husband's hand away. "I don't want to sound selfish, and you both know it well... Honestly, I don't want to be resentful or hurt those who talked shit about us, but I'd love people to know our story, or real story, from our point of view."
Britta didn't know what to say in response to the words of the girl she had known for many years, but she knew she was right. Sebastian, on the other hand, reflected Diana's words for a few moments that felt like an eternity. His wife sometimes was scary as hell, and that was one of those moments he didn't like to face.
Finally, he spoke with a trembling voice:
"Alright, let's do it," he announced as firmly as he could, cautiously getting closer to his wife.
Minutes later, they were all seated on the family room sofa, ready to formally discuss the terms they would set with Apple TV in the upcoming meeting to commit to making the documentary. Once again, Sebastian was the first one to speak:
"I want to make sure that the documentary portrays a complete picture of our years in Formula 1," the man explained. "I don't just want them to focus on the challenges we've faced, but also on the achievements we've made. I want people to understand that there's more beyond all controversies and manipulations."
Diana agreed with her husband.
"I'd like to address the issue of sexism that has been surrounding this sport for years, and everything I've had to face to make myself a place in the industry," she said. "I want to be seen not just as Sebastian's wife and mother of his children, but also as the engineer who made possible not only his first F1 victory, but also two consecutive world championships."
Britta listened carefully to the couple's comments while taking notes on her laptop, essential to discuss the terms with the production company. Once the married couple finished, the publicist went out to explain what she had discussed with Apple TV:
"According to the draft I received," she began to explain, "which, by the way, you haven't read yet, it states that they are willing to work closely with you to make sure that your story is told fairly," she lifter her gaze from the PDF document to look at both of them. "Diana, they would also be proud to address issues related to sexism because it's still very much present in the sport today."
Sebastian and Diana nodded, satisfied to hear the contract details from Britta. However, there was still an important matter for the family to discuss:
"I, also," Vettel continued, "want to establish boundaries regarding the privacy of our personal lives: we want to share our story, but not intimate details, and certainly not about the girls. They are the most important ones here, and even though they're our greatest gifts, they shouldn't be part of this narrative. Also... you know what happens with Michael. That is the best kept secret."
"No problem, Seb," the PR answered, "we'll make sure to add that both in the email I'll be sending and in the meeting we'll be having next month with the program's executives and producers. Not the Michael part, of course."
"Do we already have a date for it?" Diana asked with interest.
"Next month," the older woman replied, noting the busy schedule Sebastian would have leading up to summer break. "Specifically on June 22nd, just a few days after the Canadian Grand Prix."
She continued discussing details related to the production schedule, the technical resources that would be used to have the best quality possible and, most importantly, how the announcement of the documentary would be made and how the episoded would be distributed. She emphasized to her clients that nothing was signed yet, and changes could still be made in the future.
Sebastian and Diana, once again, agreed with everything Roeske discussed with them, felino a mix of emotions between them that they had never experienced before, not even during their worst moments.
"I know we're ready for this new chapter, girls," Seb declared, looking at the two women who had accompanied him throughout his professional racing career and had never left him behind. "They're finally going to hear us, whether they like it or not."

The Wedding Weaver
Written for Maiko Week 2024 - Wedding
Summary:
The master matchmaker and self-proclaimed Wedding Weaver is going to be in Ba Sing Se for the first annual Peace Extravaganza hosted by Avatar Aang. Inspired by his message of love and unity, she will be offering a discount on her services for the week of the festival! Find your peace and harmony with your perfect other half…
Mai and Zuko are brought together by forces beyond their control.
Author's Note:
This is admittedly a big stretch of the prompt. After I wrote this, I saw that “matchmaker” was actually a prompt back in 2022! I didn’t have the desire to write back then, but I’m a long time reader of Maiko fics. If you’ve written one, I have probably read it multiple times and I love you <3 That being said, this is my first foray into writing so please be kind ^^
Also, I should mention this is probably not an accurate portrayal of matchmakers and it is certainly not meant to be a representation of any cultures that have historically utilized matchmaking. It’s just a silly idea I had and I wanted to write.
The Wedding Weaver
The master matchmaker and self-proclaimed Wedding Weaver is going to be in Ba Sing Se for the first annual Peace Extravaganza hosted by Avatar Aang. Inspired by his message of love and unity, she will be offering a discount on her services for the week of the festival! Find your peace and harmony with your perfect other half…
Mai looked at the paper with disdain. “Why exactly are you showing me this, Mother?”
Michi sternly met her daughter’s gaze. “You have been moping about this house for far too long. I was engaged by the time I was your age!”
“Look how well that turned out.”
“Young lady!” Michi seemed to be about to launch into a tirade, but for some reason she held back and sighed. “You know we are traveling into the city for the festival. I thought perhaps it would give you something to do, since you are always bored.”
Mai’s Aunt Mura landed a very lucrative business deal with a guild of artisans. She would be providing florals and arranging the decorations for their stalls during the festival. Merchants from all over the Fire Nation, and doubtless the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes as well, were traveling to Ba Sing Se for the event. The set up process would be intense and Mai and Michi both were planning to help. But once the festival was underway, the two of them could step back and enjoy a peaceful vacation. Mai was planning on taking Tom Tom to the zoo that Aang helped build, buying Earth Kingdom daggers, and getting a cup of tea at the Jasmine Dragon (at a time when she knew Zuko would be in a meeting of course). Meeting with a Matchmaker and possibly having to entertain a stranger was not on the top of her to do list.
“No thank you.” Mai replied curtly.
Michi sighed, “I was afraid you'd say that, but it's too late. Your aunt and I already signed you up.”
Mai expected this kind of treachery from her mother, but not her aunt. “What on earth were you thinking? Why would auntie do that to me?”
“I was thinking that you needed to get out of the house. And Mura agrees. You’ve been more despondent than normal. All we want for you, Mai, is to be happy.”
Mai shook her head. She could probably get out of it if she really wanted to, but when her mother put it that way it sounded depressing. Maybe she should give it a try. What's the worst that could happen?
— —
“Is that all for the agenda?” Zuko was in a hurry to get out of there. His combined meetings with the Fire Sages and his Royal Advisors always seemed to drag on. It felt like they were all ganging up against him. No wonder all of his ancestors were so cranky.
“Actually my Lord, there is one more item we wish to address with you. As you well know, there have been two assassination attempts on your life in the past four months. Furthermore, you are in the precarious position of lacking in heir,” an elder Fire Sage began.
Zuko did not like the sound of this. “What of it?”
“Well your majesty,” one of his advisors continued, “we were hoping that you might start to make some progress in that department.”
“Surely you're not suggesting that I go out and have a child tonight.”
“Not at all. Not at all. But perhaps you could enter another courtship?” the Advisor replied.
Zuko stiffened. He knew that he shouldn't still be so hung up on her. It’s been months since our breakup, and she has a boyfriend. Kei Lo. May he suffer the torment of Agni’s eternal flame.
Oh Mai. She’s so beautiful, and lethal, and witty, and she’s always bored but never boring.
“My Lord?” The spell was broken.
“How about I name Kiyi my successor and we all call it a day?”
“That is a… fair enough solution in case of an emergency. But consider what the burden would be like for her if she were to ascend. A significant number of the people are struggling to accept you as they're rightful ruler, but she does not even have Royal blood. What do you think would be her reception?” Shiu- the Great Sage- prodded him gently.
Zuko bit his lip. He hadn't thought of that. “I don't know what you want me to do. Being the head of state doesn't give me much free time to go around meeting young women.”
“We believe we have a solution,” The advisor who spoke passed him a paper. It appeared to be an advertisement of some sort.
“You want me to see a matchmaker?”
— —
Mai hated to admit it, but she was nervous. After the festivities had begun, the vendors assured Mura that they didn't need any additional help for the day. Consequently, Mai had nothing to do while waiting for her appointment with the Wedding Weaver except imagine worst case scenarios. What if she asks me a bunch of weird personal questions? What if she tries to set me up with a creepy old guy? What if her office is all pink and lovey-dovey?
In reality, the Weaver’s office was relatively large and open. The walls were green, and the furniture seemed to all be locally made. At the back of the room privacy screens prevented her from seeing the countless filing cabinets of her clients’ information. In the center of the room was a large desk, but instead of thin wooden chairs, on either side there were great comfy recliners. Mai sat in one, the matchmaker the other. Mai's mother, Aunt, and little brother had all accompanied her and sat on a couch behind her. Against the wall was a large standing loom, with a project clearly in-progress. It seemed the Weaver had chosen that moniker for a reason.
The Wedding Weaver herself was a petite woman. Her snowy hair was held in a tight chignon and her eyes sparkled with something that Mai didn’t entirely trust. “Don't be nervous dear,” the Weaver said while pouring some tea. She passed Mai a cup which she accepted gratefully. “Now, tell me about your ideal husband.”
“Umm… That’s a bit broad, don't you think?”
The older woman laughed. “Let me help you out. Do you have a preference for if he's Fire Nation or not? Do you want him to be a bender? Do you have occupational preferences? What values do you most look for in a partner?”
Surprisingly, Tom Tom spoke up first. “He has to live nearby. Mai can't move away.” The boy toddled from the couch and up into his sister’s lap. She accepted him without question. The pout on his face was very convincing, but even if it wasn't, Mai agreed. Best to limit the results to her own country. What if she actually liked the guy?
“Yes. Fire Nation. I don't really care if he's a bender. But if you do choose a bender, I want him to have conventional weapons training as well.”
The matchmaker raised her eyebrows. “Do you get into a lot of fights?”
Mai smirked. “Not so much anymore. But a lot of benders can be sort of pretentious to non-benders like myself. I'm trained with knives, you see.” Mai pulled one from her sleeve to prove her point, as Tom Tom looked on in awe. That was something she loved about Zuko. He thought her deadly precision was just as magical as making fire appear. They would train together for hours, each taking turns to watch the other in admiration and desire… Mai mentally kicked herself. This was NOT about him. It was about her.
Her mother spoke next. “Mai comes from a noble lineage. We would prefer someone with a title or a respectable job in the service of the Fire Nation.” The Weaver noted that Mai shifted uncomfortably at this. Curious, she thought. Perhaps the girl is self-conscious around higher nobility. The Weaver dismissed it as a non-issue. She is dignified and reserved, she would fit right in.
The matchmaker smiled. “Yes of course. Many such men are in town for the festival, and quite a few have booked with me. That shouldn't be so hard.” She thought about her next appointment with anticipation. That woman has no idea how impressive my clients are.
Mai spoke once again. “When it comes to values, I don't know how to classify this but I want someone who treats me like an equal. Someone who is trustworthy and is willing to share their heaviest burdens with me.”
She blushed at this confession, but the matchmaker did not know why. Surely anyone would want such a dedicated girlfriend?
“What about physicality? Any preferences with regards to appearance?”
Mai thought for a minute. “I don't have strong feelings about that really.”
Mura objected. “Oh no! Find our girl someone handsome!”
The Weaver laughed. “I think that can be arranged.” She had taken diligent notes throughout the meeting, and it seemed she already had a few names in mind.
She had Mai fill out a parchment questionnaire before leaving so she would have some additional personal info and more detailed preferences, but the Weaver liked to start by getting a sense of the person through conversation. She found it produced a much more accurate tapestry of a person’s desires.
— —
Mai’s family left late in the afternoon, as they had claimed the last spot on her schedule. However, today she had accepted a special request for an out-of-hours appointment from the Fire Lord himself. He, naturally, had diplomatic appointments throughout the commencement of the Peace Extravaganza. But beyond that he required the utmost discretion.
He did not arrive in her office until the sun was setting, but she did not mind in the slightest. He was her most important customer to date, and she was determined to find him a good match. When he walked in, he was accompanied by two older men: one of his advisors and one of the Fire Sages. She bowed to him in the Fire Nation custom as they all took their seats. She thought about offering tea, but remembered that his uncle was the best tea maker in the city and decided against it. Her brew surely could not compare.
She began in her usual way: “Don't be shy. Tell me about your ideal wife.”
“Oh! Uh…” Zuko was at a loss for what to say. His traitorous thoughts ran rampant: Her name is Mai. She lived across the street. She works for her aunt in a flower shop. She kissed me when I was thirteen and my life has never been the same.
The Matchmaker smiled warmly. Her clients weren't so chatty today. “That's okay, dear. Does she need to be Fire Nation? Do you want her to be a bender? Are there requirements for being the Fire Lady? What values do you most look for in a partner?”
Zuko took a breath and tried to remember all her questions. Maybe it was because of his mother’s theater background, but whenever he was nervous, he found it helpful to put on a persona. I’m not Zuko, I’m the dragon emperor and I am looking for a bride. He put on his best royal voice and began, “I think it would be best if she was from the Fire Nation. If she is to be my wife, then she will be their ruler someday. And a ruler should be well acquainted with her people. In that vein, a good education is also important. I want someone who can help me make decisions and be my true equal. I don't want her to feel imposed upon because of my station.” Zuko almost choked up during that statement. He couldn't stop thinking about Mai and all of the ways he failed her. He desperately wanted to be anywhere but there.
The matchmaker’s eyes darted to the forms on her desk. She shuffled through until she found what she was looking for. The Royal Fire Academy for Girls, eh? The matchmaker knew she was entering dangerous territory. It was always tempting to pair up clients who had sessions back to back. But she’d learned well enough from the Kangaroo Island Incident that this was not always wise.
“A fire bender would be strongly preferred,” the Fire Sage cut in.
Zuko's response was immediate and involuntary. “No!” Everyone looked at him, and he scrambled to regain his composure. “I mean… a fire bender would be fine but I don't have strong preferences in that regard.”
The Weaver’s eyes twinkled with mischief. He probably wanted a young lady who he could impress with his bending. She’d met many a man like that in her day, and some of them were quite impressive indeed. The gloomy girl wasn’t a bender, but she would still be hard to impress. Perhaps that is what he needs.
She pursed her lips: “Are you trained in any martial arts other than bending?”
Zuko was surprised by the question. “I trained with Master Piandao in dual dao swords.” For some reason, this answer seemed to please the Weaver greatly.
“Don't forget, Fire Lord Zuko, your prime directive in this union is to produce an heir. And it would be most beneficial for the nation if that child was a firebender,” his advisor at last spoke up.
Zuko responded icily: “I do not care if my child is a firebender or not. And for your sake, you had better not care either.”
The Weaver recalled how the knife girl had cradled her brother in her arms. The pair would be good parents. Perhaps a tad over-protective, but a little prince or princess would require a greater level of care.
The Fire Lord continued speaking, “But since you reminded me that your rush for an heir was spurred on by multiple assassination attempts, I would like a woman who knows at least basic self-defense. My guards can only do so much. It would ease my mind if she could protect herself.”
The Matchmaker nodded in agreement. Truly this job was getting too easy. “Do you have any preferences on how she should look?”
Zuko blanched, and instinctively reached up to touch his scar. “I really don't think I have any room for judgment.”
The Matchmaker tsked. “Nonsense. You are quite handsome, and everyone is attracted to different traits. Is there anything- a certain eye color or hair style- that you find particularly compelling?”
Before he could stop himself, Zuko answered, “Long hair. Straight. And silky smooth.”
The Matchmaker smiled. This time was nothing like Kangaroo Island. The two were obviously meant to be. “How do you feel about bangs?”
“I think they're really cute,” he said with a small voice.
The Matchmaker handed him his exit paperwork, and leaned back in her seat. She couldn't believe her luck! Those two kids are perfect for each other. And to think they wouldn't meet if it weren't for her planning their date. She was confident there would be a wedding within the year.
— —
“You’re kidding!” Ty Lee squealed. “You’re really going on a date!”
“Yeah.”
“And it was set up by the most famous matchmaker in the world?”
“I guess so.”
“Do you think he’ll be handsome? Or rich? Oh! What if he’s like Earth Kingdom royalty or something?”
Mai sighed, “Honestly, Ty Lee, don’t you think I’ve had enough of handsome, rich royalty?”
Ty Lee had the decency to look ashamed. “Oh yeah. I guess I still kind of think of Zuko as our childhood friend. It’s hard to believe he was my boss. Even when I was guarding his life, he still just seemed like Zuko.”
“I’ve been meaning to ask, why did Zuko send you all away?” About four months ago, Zuko had seemingly out-of-nowhere decided to send the Kyoshi Warriors home. Against her reasonable judgment, Mai took the action personally. Not only did she employ them in the first place, but she had become good friends with Suki and the other girls. She often met up with them for lunch, shopping, sparring, and passing the time in general.
Ty Lee rustled at her wording. “We were honorably discharged, thank you very much. The opposition to his reign was calming down and so I think he wanted his guard to be all Fire Nation again. There was some pretty nasty talk about us being a foreign militia in the palace, but I don’t know if that affected his decision.”
Mai nodded. She knew firsthand how brutal Fire Nation court gossip could get, but she hoped that wasn’t impacting Zuko’s security decisions.
“Anyway, don’t think you can get out of this date talk by bringing up your ex boyfriend.”
Mai shrugged. “There’s not much to tell. I won’t meet him until tomorrow.” It had been less than twenty-four hours since her appointment with the Wedding Weaver and Mai had already received a missive notifying her that a match had been made and the date was going to take place the following evening. The message arrived during her lunch with Ty Lee, squashing any hopes of keeping the rendezvous secret from her friend.
“Can I see the note?” Ty Lee asked, and Mai dutifully handed it over. She read aloud, “‘To the lady Mai, the Wedding Weaver is pleased to inform you that she has followed your string of fate and found your perfect match. As your lives twine together, never forget your dear old matchmaker.’” The note then detailed where and when they were supposed to meet, as well as the level of dress. The Weaver suggested semi-formal attire, which felt a bit pretentious to Mai. “‘P.S. The person you are seeing is of very high rank, and so you must be discreet with the information about your meeting.’ Oops!”
Mai smirked, “Oh c’mon. He’s probably lower level nobility with a big head! And besides, discretion wouldn’t stop me from telling you.” Embarrassment would, but never discretion.
Ty Lee laughed. “What if it’s King Kuei or one of his relatives? Oh! Or someone related to Chief Arnook! You could tell people you dated multiple world leaders!”
Mai let out a rare chuckle. “That would be pretty epic. But I told her to keep it Fire Nation. Long distance seems so boring.”
“Yeah, I seem to recall that not touching for two seconds was long distance for you and Zuko back in the day,” Ty Lee joked.
Mai tried to act offended. “Hey! We were deprived of affection in childhood. We had to make up for lost time.”
“And you certainly did,” Ty Lee quipped back and Mai rolled her eyes.
Ty Lee resumed her question barrage. “So what are you wearing? And what are you doing for make up? Do you wanna try out a new hairstyle? I’ve had a lot of practice with the girls.”
“Who appointed you as my stylist?”
“I appointed myself! Please, it’ll be so fun!”
They spent the rest of the day trying out various outfits in the market and testing make up and hair at Mai’s hotel. Ty Lee insisted she do something different with her hair, but in exchange Mai was able to get her to agree to a dress that wasn’t pink. In the past Mai might have complained about the cringiness of it all, but after four months of missing her best friend– and going even longer without an excuse to get dressed up– she found herself having fun. When she went to sleep that night, she decided that however the date went the next day, it was already worth it.
— —
On the third day of the Peace Extravaganza, Zuko rose with the sun as always and made his way to the Earth King’s palace courtyard to practice his fire bending katas. To his surprise, Aang was there as well.
“Good morning Sifu Hotman!” he said cheerfully. Zuko smiled and nodded in acknowledgement.
Normally he would protest at the nickname, but he had hardly spent any time with Aang this week because of the various meetings and peace ceremonies. He hoped he could catch up with everyone once the schedule slowed down.
“Want to go through your fire forms with your old teacher?”
“Always!”
By the time they finished, it was still too early for most of the palace to be awake. But Zuko managed to flag down a servant to bring them some breakfast in the courtyard.
“So what’s on your schedule today, your royal fieriness?” Aang asked.
Zuko sighed. “The usual, you know what it’s like. I have a meeting with Earth Kingdom’s office of veteran affairs to trade strategies for dealing with the reintegration of troops into civilian life. Then King Kuei and I are attending the opening of Ba Sing Se University’s exchange student program. After that, he and I are set to have lunch. And then it’s on to a panel discussion with the Water Tribe officials about navigation treaties. And after that we have rehearsal for the Ceremony for Perpetual Peace on the last day.”
“Wow! That’s more than me and I’m the event organizer! Do you think you could have dinner with us after the rehearsal?” Aang looked at him hopefully.
“I wish I could but–” Zuko hesitated, “promise you won’t make fun of me for what I’m about to say?”
“Okay?” Well that wasn’t much of a promise, but Zuko figured it was the best he was going to get.
“My advisors bullied me into seeing a matchmaker. The Wedding Weeder or something like that.”
“The Wedding Weaver!” Aang exclaimed. “She’s really famous over here. She boasts a 95% success rate. Excluding the Kangaroo Island incident of course.
“Well I’d never heard of her. But I met with her a couple of days ago and she said she already found my perfect match. She arranged for us to get dinner tonight.”
“TONIGHT?!” Aang yelled, startling a pair of passing servants.
“Hush up!” Zuko hissed. “No one knows yet except Uncle and my council.”
“But what about Mai?” Aang asked. In the months after the war, he and Mai had become fast friends to everyone’s surprise. Retrospectively, it kind of made sense to Zuko. Aang was a lot like Ty Lee, and being the avatar meant that his life was far from boring. And despite his “upbeat attitude,” he was very accepting of “gloomy” people. It took Katara a little bit longer to warm up to Mai, but not by much. Ever since Mai broke up with him, Aang has been encouraging him to try to fix things.
“She’s still with Kei Lo as far as I know. The last time I saw him, he told me to back off and Mai took his side. I think it’s over.”
Aang was visibly disappointed by this, and Zuko added uncomfortably, “You said this matchmaker was really good, right? I’m sure whoever she sets me up with will be… lovely.”
Aang seemed to realize he was affecting Zuko. “Oh! I’m sure she will! But don’t you think it’s a bit dishonest to try to date someone else while you still have feelings for your ex? Isn’t that like cheating?”
Zuko thought about Aang’s words. “I… I don’t know. But I don’t really have a choice. I have a bunch of old guys breathing down my throat to have a kid. I have to start somewhere.”
Aang gave him a sympathetic look. “I’m sorry. That’s rough, buddy.”
— —
Zuko took a deep breath and began to ascend the stairs. The Weaver had reserved an entire rooftop balcony for them. He wondered what his date was thinking about all of this. The matchmaker had not revealed his identity, but had apparently told her that he was an important official who required privacy. What if she’s angry that I didn’t tell her my identity first? Mai had always hated surprises. Spirits, she was beautiful when she despised things.
Uncle had given him a gift basket with an assortment of tea leaves and several coupons for the Jasmine Dragon. He assured Zuko that if his date was caught off-guard, the smell of the tea leaves would calm her. Zuko wasn’t sure if he believed that, but he trusted that uncle knew better than him, so he figured he should probably lead with the gift. When reached the door to the balcony, he rearranged the items of the gift basket one last time.
As he stepped on the terrace, he caught sight of a female figure. She was standing at the edge of the balcony, looking out over the city with her back turned. She had long black hair that she wore loose, and for a moment he almost tricked himself into thinking it was Mai. Maybe bringing up the hair was a mistake.
“Hello–”
She spun around, knives in hand. Agni, it was Mai!
“Zuko, what the fuck? How did you find out about my date?”
Zuko gaped at her, “I– I didn’t. This is supposed to be my date.”
Mai took in the gift-basket and his gelled hair. No doubt both courtesy of his uncle.
She buried her face in her hands and her shoulders began to shake. Zuko felt his heart fall into his stomach. He dropped the basket and ran to her side. “Please don’t cry. I didn’t mean–”
She let out a snort. He pried her hands away from her face to see she was… laughing. She giggled and chortled and it was honestly a bit disconcerting at first. He had never seen her so unrestrained.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” She apologized breathlessly through her mirth. She finally composed herself enough to be coherent. “I just can’t believe I traveled to the other side of the world to be set up on a date with you!”
Zuko glowered and dropped her hands. “I could say the exact same thing!”
Mai suddenly became serious, “ I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just that I was finally trying to move on and here you are.”
Zuko couldn’t believe this. “Again, I could say the same! No! I should be the only one saying that. You broke up with me. And you’re dating Kei Lo. Why are you even here? What do you mean ‘move on’?”
Mai crossed her arms. “For your information, Kei Lo broke up with me because I couldn’t let go of you.” Zuko felt a fluttering in his ribcage, but she didn’t stop there, “And I tried to be a good girlfriend, but you weren’t interested in my support. You would rather keep all your emotions locked away in your chest.”
Zuko rolled his eyes. “You’re one to talk–”
“Hey! I’ve been doing better and you know it.”
He supposed that was true. After all, she was expressing herself with gusto today. He remembered Uncle’s calming tea and retrieved the basket. Luckily, it had landed right side up.
He walked back to Mai and extended it to her. No use in letting it go to waste. “For you.”
Mai looked like she was about to make another cutting remark, but then she noticed the contents. “Is this from Iroh?” He nodded and she accepted the basket. She picked up a sachet of spiced oolong and inhaled. “This always was my favorite. Thank you.” She hesitated, “Are you sure you don’t want to save this nice array for the next girl?”
Zuko huffed. “What next girl?”
He looked around the balcony for the first time, as if he thought some beautiful woman would emerge and save him from this awkwardness. There was a table piled high with food that was rapidly growing cold, and two chairs. Mai was glad she pilfered some dumplings before he arrived. Ty Lee made her spend hours getting ready and so she was starving. And now Zuko was probably going to kick her out before she got dinner.
Mai shrugged. “I don’t know. Whoever the Weaver sends you after me?”
“I didn’t actually see her of my own free will. It’s kind of a long story. Would you like to sit?” He gestured to the table. He pulled out her chair for her. Mai raised an eyebrow, but she set her basked to the side and accepted the gesture nonetheless. He sat across from her.
“So, start talking.” Mai quickly piled food onto her plate. If Zuko actually had a long story, she could finally eat.
“My advisors are concerned that I don’t have an heir. I currently have Kiyi listed, but… if something happens I don’t know if the people will accept her.”
Mai felt a chill run up her spine. “Zuko, you’re talking as though you’re going to croak any minute. Ty Lee told me that the situation was stabilizing and that was why you sent the Kyoshi warriors back to their island.”
Zuko took a bite of a steamed bun and refused to meet her gaze. Mai glared at him until he spoke, “The situation is stabilizing, but it will never be fully secure until the Fire Nation can operate independently. I heard some of the girls talking outside my office one day. They were feeling homesick. It was always meant to be a temporary post, and I didn’t want to force them to stay if they were unhappy. Anyway, Suki and Ty Lee had been personally training the replacement guards for some time anyway. So I ended their contract. And I gave them generous severance by the way.”
“Maybe independence isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Have there been more assassination attempts since they left?” Just like Mai to cut to the chase. For some reason, it made Zuko want to smile despite the serious topic.
“There have been two in the last four months. But the guards are improving, truly. I would not put my family in their care if I didn’t trust them.”
Mai nodded. “All the same, you would tell someone, right? If you were concerned.”
Zuko blinked in surprise. “Who would I tell?”
Mai wanted to flip the table. Instead she took a breath. Pretend you’re explaining a really difficult concept to Tom Tom. “You could tell Aang, or Katara, or Toph, or Sokka, or Suki, or Ty Lee. You know, any of your friends,” she deadpanned.
Zuko smiled, but it was bittersweet. “I’m trying to be better about reaching out. I acknowledge that in the past I haven’t been the best about that. But there are certain things that our friends can’t help me with. They all have their own responsibilities far away from Caldera City. This is something I need to figure out as the Fire Lord.”
Mai felt her heart twist. He didn’t hesitate to include her: ‘our friends.’ She forced herself to speak before she lost her nerve. “You could talk to me. I know things are awkward between us right now, but you’re one of my only childhood friends. I still care about you, Zuko. And I’m not volunteering to be your personal bodyguard or anything, but I don’t mind helping you vet the new recruits or spending some afternoons at the palace to help out.”
“That would be great!” Zuko accepted her offer without hesitation. He would always take whatever she was willing to give him. But then he remembered something she had said earlier. “Only if you’re sure that won’t interfere with your attempt to get over me. I don’t want to stand in the way of your happiness.”
Mai narrowed her eyes, trying to determine if he was making fun of her. And then she remembered what she said only moments ago in the heat of their argument. She felt her cheeks get hot. “Oh! That was… a bit of an over-exaggeration. I didn’t really want to see the matchmaker either. My mom and aunt were pressuring me, and then Ty Lee got on board. I guess their enthusiasm rubbed off on me more than I realized.”
Zuko smirked, “Yeah, you’re so easy to enthuse.”
Mai rolled her eyes and threw a dumpling at him. He had the good sense to duck and he came up laughing.
“So,” he began. “If you wanna hear about my problems, maybe we could start with this festival.”
Mai nodded, “You can tell me all about it until this table is empty.”
Zuko chuckled and quickly launched into complaints about his overbooked schedule and his ridiculous advisors. Mai listened intently, and, in turn, she regaled him with the trials and tribulations of the floral industry. When they finally parted, Yue was well into her nightly journey. Mai rejected Zuko’s offer of a personal escort home, but he insisted she take at least one of his guards. “I know you don’t need the protection, but I can’t have the restaurant owner think I’m an inconsiderate date.” As the pair disappeared into the city streets, Zuko couldn’t help smiling. Maybe Mai didn’t reciprocate his feelings, but she was miraculously his friend again and that was enough. He ought to send the Wedding Weaver a generous tip.
Later, as Mai slid into bed, she thought about her conversation with Zuko. He was so much more open now compared to when they broke up. Had she overreacted in ending things with him? Was it… possible that he was still willing to try again? She didn’t have satisfactory answers to these questions yet, but she had gotten one of her best friends back. That had to count for something.
— —
The First Annual Peace Extravaganza went on smoothly and historic treaties were agreed upon by the remaining three nations. However, nothing that happened was quite as historic as the Third Annual Peace Extravaganza, where the Fire Lord announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend, Lady Mai. He shocked the world by declaring that their wedding would take place on the summer solstice, just three months away.
There was some talk about whether or not the two would be suitable rulers. In their not-so distant youth, the couple was said to have a tumultuous on-again and off-again affair. But she had been his steadfast companion for the past two years, and the royal council was happy to simply have the promise of a stronger bloodline.
The Wedding Weaver smiled when she heard the news. Since that fateful day, she learned that she was not the reason for the royal couple’s first meeting. By the time they reached her door, their life lines had long since been plied together into a single thread. She took up her place at her loom and began to weave.
— —
For Mai and Zuko, the time between their engagement and their wedding day passed in a blur. On top of their usual responsibilities of keeping a country running, they had to plan what was shaping up to be the largest party of the century. The festivities would take several days.
The first day was their traditional betrothal ceremony, made awkward by the conspicuous absence of their fathers. The awkwardness only grew. Mai’s uncle, the Warden of the Boiling Rock, had offered to take the place of her father, and kept threatening to revoke his approval, making Zuko promise and swear repeatedly on all the Spirits that he would never hurt Mai emotionally or physically. Uncle Iroh, who had taken the place of Zuko’s own father, found the situation quite amusing. Iroh and Mai had to hold back their laughter and the Warden made Zuko get on his knees and repeat his vows.
The second day was the wedding ceremony itself and Mai’s coronation. Zuko would always remember how beautiful Mai looked in the traditional robes. To the crowd’s– and Zuko’s– surprise, Mai openly cried tears of joy as she said her vows. She accepted her position as Fire Lady earnestly, and even the Sages were pleased. The entire Nation celebrated that night, while Mai and Zuko slipped away to celebrate privately.
The third day was reserved entirely for opening gifts from whoever the council deemed noteworthy. King Kuei had gifted them a large and rather unsightly bear statue that Mai decided could live in one of the many basement sitting rooms. Chief Arnook presented them with heavy duty and finely embroidered Water Tribe tunics for their next visit. Zuko was grateful but slightly disappointed. (On their previous trips to the North, Mai had clung to his side like a burr, seeking his inner fire. Now she would likely burrow into her heavy robes instead.) Chief Hakoda, at his children’s recommendation, gave them matching whale tooth knives. These were privately both Mai and Zuko’s favorite gift of the celebration.
Yet even after this event, they were left with an entire storeroom of gifts from citizens and well-wishers that would have to be dealt with eventually, which is where Mai and Zuko found themselves that evening.
“I don’t even know where to start with all of this,” Zuko sighed. “I don’t mean to be ungrateful, but it’s not like we’re lacking. I wish people would save their money.”
Mai wrapped her arms around her husband. The festivities were making her much more sentimental than usual. “I agree, but think about it this way: they gifted us these things because they appreciate what you’ve done as their leader. It’s all well-deserved.”
Zuko smiled and returned her embrace, “They’re your gifts too. The people are excited to have a Fire Lady again, and I’m so grateful that it’s you. I couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone else.”
Mai smiled and kissed him on the cheek, but she broke away from his hold after that. She wanted to make her way through at least some of this stuff before they left for their honeymoon after a few more days of public festivities. Everything had already been inspected for security purposes and the servants had created a separate section for gifts from people that they may have known personally. Mai made her way there, thinking it would be a good place to begin. Zuko followed and picked up a wrapped parcel with a familiar seal.
“No way,” he said, chuckling. “Mai, this is from our matchmaker!”
“Really?” she leaned into his side to read the attached note.
Dearest Fire Lord and Fire Lady,
From the moment I met the both of you, I could sense that you were destined to be a match. The string of fate between you is strong! By chance, I met you on the same day, and when the young Fire Lord spoke, it felt like he was describing you, Mai dear. It would be months before I learned that was perhaps truer than I could have guessed. Even though I did not bring you two together for the first time, I hope that the two of you are bound to stay. Please accept this token of my congratulations.
The Wedding Weaver
P.S. Zuko darling, thank you for the generous donations to my business.
Mai raised an eyebrow at ‘Zuko darling’. “You’ve been sending her money?”
“Well she got you back with me,” he replied. “I don’t regret a single copper piece!”
Mai laughed and unwrapped the parcel. Unsurprisingly, she gifted them a tapestry. It depicted the two of them standing side by side, surrounded by a border of their birth flowers. It was an impressive likeness considering that she had only seen them once and that she had rendered them in thread and not ink.
“Woah!” Zuko ran his hand along the stitches. “Do you think my council would let me hang this up instead of a royal portrait?”
“Unfortunately, I don’t think so,” Mai replied, “but this is way nicer than the bear statue. We should put it somewhere visible.”
“We should.” Zuko pulled his wife into another embrace. “Do you believe in strings of fate?” he asked, although he suspected he knew the answer.
“No,” Mai answered, “but if such a thing existed, then I believe it would exist between us.”
Zuko buried his face in her hair and smiled. This was about as sappy as Mai got. “I think so too.”

May 14, 2022 – June 13, 2022: Month Six
May 17, 2022
Harry. New York City, New York. 7:20 P.M.
The house hadn’t been this loud for a while, probably since Coachella. While Y/N was busy getting Pippa ready for bed, I was in the kitchen with Lambert and Jeff finishing dinner while Pauli, Niji and Elin helped us by setting the table. Mitch went to the airport to pick up Sarah and Glenne, while Ny Oh let us know she would be here later.
After placing the pizzas in the oven there were strong knocks coming from the door which had me laughing, as soon as I opened Glenne kissed my cheek quickly while removing her shoes and pouring some antibacterial gel, “Is she still awake?”, I smiled and nodded, Glenne reached in for Sarah, and they started making their way to the nursery.
I greeted Mitch while leading him to the kitchen, then made my way to the nursery. Once inside, I smiled and went to hug Y/N and kissed her temple, she squeezed my side and turned to kiss my chest, Sarah and Glenne were busy cuddling Pippa who was all smiles.
Y/N cleared her throat and started making her way to grab Pippa, “Okay little miss, say goodbye to your aunts, okay?”, Sarah and Glenne pouted and kissed Pip, then handed Pippa back, exited and closed the nursery door; Y/N settled into the rocking chair while I floated around the room making sure the monitor and fairy lights were on, then sat down next to her and kissed her knee.
She smiled and ran a hand down my face before turning to look at Pip before whispering, “How is she six months old already? It still feels surreal, like six months ago we were learning to give her a bath”, I smiled, and nodded, “Time has gone by so fast, and doing this with you has been the best experience ever”, she smiled and blew me a kiss, “I love you Harry”, I squeezed her hand, “I love you too Y/N”.
Once we settled Pippa in her bassinet, we closed the door and went back into the living room to have dinner with our friends. Once everyone had their dinner plates served and found a place to seat, I reached for my glass and cleared my throat, “Well hello everyone! Thank you for being here; I am glad to have you all here, especially because we still had to celebrate and welcome Jaffra to the band!”
Cheers were heard all over while Jaffra gave us a smile and a silent thank you; once the cheers were done everyone was looking at me again, I smiled and sighed, “So… we’re just three days away from the release of the new album- “, I smiled as cheers and hollers were heard around the living room.
I cleared my throat, “And once the album is out, chaos will surely ensue; between the One Night Only shows and the beginning of tour, this will be a few busy weeks, but I am forever grateful to have you all here with me”, Mitch then said “Here, here!”, I smiled before placing my glass at the table.
“We are about to embark the biggest year of tour so far; with the residencies, Latin America, Australia, Asia and back to Europe it will be a hell of a year, but I trust that we have a great team and things will go on smoothly”, everyone nodded while I took a deep breath, “However, I really feel the need to ask a selfish favor from you”.
Everyone, except for Jeff and Y/N nodded, “I need you guys to promise that you will have the best time, that you will enjoy everything, the good, the bad and the worst, to give your everything into every show, every rehearsal and every travel, because… because I honestly don’t know if this will be the last time we will do this”.
Y/N squeezed my hand and kissed my cheek, “This has been, a very wild ride, and to be honest with you... life has changed so much this last year, and I really don’t know where we’ll be tomorrow, but what I do know, is that right this second, this is where we are supposed to be”, there were nods all over the place, “So once more, let’s cheer to welcome this last adventure with Love On Tour!”.

Harry. New York City, New York. 11:55 P.M.
“Drive safely guys! See you tomorrow!”, Glenne and Jeff gave me another wave as the elevator closed, I also closed and locked the main door and leaned mt forehead taking a deep breath, I then walked to the kitchen, made sure that all lights were off, and trash was put away then made my way to the master bedroom.
I expected for Y/N and Pip to be sleeping but was surprised when I opened the door and saw Y/N sitting up and looking out the window and the anxiety I felt when Glenne asked me to go with her to the nursery returned. I sat next to her in bed and reached to run my hand down her face, she turned to see me and gave me a small smile.
“Hi baby, everyone gone?”, I nodded and kissed her cheek before whispering, “Yes, everyone asked me to say goodbye and that they can’t wait to see you tomorrow”, she nodded and sighed while reaching for my hand and giving it a squeeze.
I placed another kiss to her cheek before whispering, “You okay?”, she nodded and turned to see me, “Yeah, just tired, all the excitement and the long nights drained me”, I nodded while she continued to talk, “Let’s go to bed yeah? You need your rest too”.
I sighed defeatedly and nodded my head, then made my way to the bathroom to get ready for bed. Once outside I leaned into the bassinet to see Pippa, I smiled then leaned to kiss her cheek softly before pulling back and getting into bed, Y/N joining me a few seconds later.
We both made sure our alarms were one before cuddling into our pillows, I pulled her by the waist and nuzzled her neck, she made sure she was comfortable before letting out a breath and kissing her cheek before whispering, “I love you, and I’m here for you baby, whatever you may need”.
May 21, 2022
New York City, New York. 7:30 A.M.
The smell of fresh coffee pulled me from the slumber I fell into after feeding Pip at around three. I got out of bed and made sure she was still sleeping then left the room, leaving the door was ajar. I then started walking to the kitchen where I could hear Harry humming and cooking.
When I entered, I started making my way to stand behind him and placed a kiss between his shoulder blades, then wrapped my hands around him, he reached down to kiss my hands before whispering, “Good morning baby”, I smiled and placed another kiss, “Hi you, I missed you in bed”.
He laughed a little and turned off the stove, served breakfast and grabbed the plates while I grabbed the coffees before making our way to the table; we started eating in silence, placing little kisses in each other’s hands before he cleared his throat, “How are you?”, his eyes were hopeful on me talking to him.
I sighed and wished I could ignore the elephant in the room but knew it would not be worth it, “I’m not okay, I’m very sad and disappointed”, I sniffled, he reached to clean my tears, “Baby, maybe you should talk with Ellie, or even your dad”, I shrugged my shoulders, “What good would it do? She still belittled me and my baby”, I sniffled, “I get it, I am her disappointment but that little girl sleeping in her bassinet is not guilty.”
He nodded and kissed my temple then rested his forehead against it, I continued to speak up, “I just don’t understand, how can she see her and still pretend she doesn’t exist; isn’t she curious? Like doesn’t she want to know who she is, who she looks like, if she has any personality quirks from me?”
Harry ran his hand down my back then whispered, “I wish I could go back in time and give her a piece of my mind, be sure to protect you both from her; above all I wish I could take away your pain and sadness because you don’t deserve it, and I’m sorry that I couldn’t.”
I smiled in appreciation and reached for a napkin, “I will be okay, I promise you, but I need to feel sad and process this, okay?”, he nodded and squeezed my arm, “However you Mister should start to finish your suitcases, okay? Us girls are already packed, and we leave in about seven hours”, he laughed, then stood up and started clearing the table, “Fine, I will pick this up and will finish packing, okay?”
I nodded then left the kitchen and went into the room and smiled when I noticed that Pippa was slowly rousing form her sleep, “Oh hi baby! good morning my girl how are you?”, she cooed once I pulled her into my arms and started leaving slobbery kisses on my face, “Are you hungry? Yeah? Let’s go eat, then we will have some tummy time and then we’ll get ready, and you’ll nap before our flight because we are leaving for London!”
Pippa smiled and we switched sides, “Oh look at that smile! You’re so happy to go to London huh? I am too, I miss our family so much”, our family, as warmth spread through my chest I turned down and smiled at her, “Yeah baby, our family, the one who chose me and love you because you are their blood, the ones we deserve and will love us forever.”

Harry. London, England. 12:45 P.M.
We had been back in London for less than 48 hours and it felt so good just to be home. Even if there was so much chaos and things to get ready, being back with family made the whole travel worth it. My mum had made sure that our fridge and pantry were stocked as soon as we arrived then left some dinner ready for us.
I was finishing setting the table while Y/N got Pippa ready while we waited for our guests to arrive; after setting down some wine glasses the doorbell rang and I smiled when I opened it and saw our first arrival, “Dad! Welcome, come in!”, my dad smiled and hugged me, then proceeded to remove his coat and hang it on one of the available hooks.
“Harry! How are you son? I hope I am not too early?”, I shook my head and we started making our way to the living room, “Not at all, just finished setting the table and waiting for my ladies to be ready, little one woke from her nap a little ago”, he smiled and before he could speak, a voice carried over from the stairs and into the living room.
“I hear that someone is asking for the girl of the hour?”, Y/N appeared with Pippa in her arms and gave my dad a smile while walking to where he was standing, “Des! Welcome! It is so good to see you!”, my dad met her halfway and pulled her into a half hug, “Hello darling, it’s so good to have you guys back here.”
I smiled when I realized that Pippa was giving my dad a very curious look, but still held on to her mum’s arm, she laughed a little and bounced her while my dad offered her a smile and coo, Y/N spoke up, “Who is that baby? Is that your grandad? Do you wanna say hello?”, my dad reached for her and started kissing her cheek, while Pippa patted his cheek.
The doorbell rang again and as Y/N went to open I went to stand next to my dad and Pip, she offered me a smile and I chuckled a little, my dad ran a hand down her head, “Oh she’s definitely a daddy’s girl huh?”, I nodded and reached to kiss her cheek, then turned to look at him, “I mean yes, but as soon as she sees her mum, dad is out of the picture”.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Y/N come into the living room followed by Gemma, Michal and my mum; we all said our hellos and sat down in the living room for a little, Y/N left to check how lunch was coming along and when she came back she sat next to me, I kissed her temple and continued talking with Michal.
Gemma cleared her throat and reached out her arms to grab Pippa, who was still happily being held by my dad, my mum going to sit next to him and cooing at her hoping to coax a few smiles and giggles, “Okay can the grandparents share her with her fave aunt?”, my mum shook her head and my dad placed a kiss on Pippa’s forehead before handing her to Gemma, who was smiling so big and kissing all over her face while the baby cooed at her.
“I can’t believe she can laugh now”, my mum nodded along with my dad who was smiling at the baby as he spoke, then added, “Before we know it she will be crawling and walking and talking”, I shook my head and pouted, “Nope, not happening, we have been discussing the fact that she needs to stay this little forever”, Y/N shook her head but before she could add anything else left for the kitchen to get the pasta out of the oven.
“H! It’s ready!”, I nodded to the direction of her voice then turned to our guests, “Okay everyone lunch is ready, so let’s go to the dining room”, we all started walking towards the lovely smells and took our seats at the table, Y/N went to grab Pippa and promised Gem she would give her back as soon as she ate, the took her seat next to me and settled Pip in her lounger.
After a delicious lunch and an even better conversation, we all moved back to the living room to have some dessert and tea; Gemma laid with Pippa, Y/N, and my mum on her little playmat for her tummy time while the rest of us scattered in the couches around. My mum then turned to look at me and asked, “Is everything ready for your show?”
I nodded while I sipped on my tea then left it on the coaster, “Pretty much, we will do a visit to the venue tomorrow and Tuesday will be packed before the show; I’ve arranged for a van to pick you all up so that you can all come together, is that okay?”, everyone nodded then continued to enjoy their dessert.
It was around seven that we said our goodbyes and once I made sure my mum was distracted, I nodded at Gemma, who came to stand next to me and whispered, “So, still up for babysitting tomorrow?”, she nodded then turned to make sure mum was not coming, “Yup, will be here tomorrow at around 5 okay?”, I nodded and then we said our goodbyes; once I made sure they were all on their cars I licked the door and went upstairs to join bedtime routine.

London, England. 10:30 P.M.
I closed the nursery door and made sure that the monitor was on before making my way downstairs where friends and family were digging into the catering we had ordered for after Harry’s concert, which by the way, had been such an eclectic event.
Once I entered the kitchen, I was greeted with a plate served by Anne, I smiled in appreciation and she squeezed my arm before taking a sip of her drink, “Baby went down, okay?”, I nodded and finished chewing before answering her, “She did, I was worried she would wake up once I transferred her, but she must’ve been so tired.”
She chuckled in agreement and gave me a soft smile, a few seconds later I felt someone pull me into a chest and kiss the back of my head, I smiled and settled myself against his side and kissed his peck, “Hello superstar! Enjoying your party?”, he nodded and opened his mouth, I fed him a bite of my sandwich and while he chewed Anne and I continued to discuss our plans for the weekend.
After swallowing his bite, he gave me a soft squeeze and then turned to look at Gemma and asked her to come over, Anne gave us a curious smile and I reached to squeeze her arm, she then asked us, “Is everything okay?”, we nodded and Harry spoke up, “We just want to talk to you all, is that okay?”, they both nodded and we made our way to the foyer, where we knew we could talk privately.
Des and Michal also joined us, and Harry cleared his throat before speaking up, “So… we have been keeping a secret from you guys”, my mum gasped before excitedly whispering, “Are you pregnant?”, we both chuckled and shook our heads, “No, we’re not pregnant, but we hope to have more babies later on.”
Anne nodded and asked us, “Well, are you guys okay?”, Harry nodded and smiled, “Yeah mum… uhm we have been speaking about our future as a family, and where we want to settle”, Gem was smiling while my mom gave us a hopeful smile, Harry continued, “So… we have been viewing a few properties in different locations, and…”
Anne gave us an excited but careful nod and harry turned to look at me, I smiled and kissed his hand, which was laying on my shoulder then turned to look at our family, “We just put an offer for a house”, before they could speak up, I added, “Here, well actually, a few blocks down”, everyone’s eyes opened so big, Anne was stuck in her place while Gemma pulled us into a hug followed by everyone else.
Anne stood frozen in her place with some tears falling from her eyes, Harry walked carefully next to her and as soon as she could she pulled him into her arms, and a few seconds later she pulled me into her arms too, then whispered, “I cannot believe this! I honestly had made pace with the idea of only seeing you three every few months, but the fact that I will be able to see you when we feel like it? It’s just priceless.”
We pulled back and turned to look at everyone, Des spoke up, “So what’s next?”, Harry smiled, “Well, we have to wait and see if the offer will be accepted, Olive our real estate agent said it could take anywhere from weeks to months, so it’s a waiting game”, Gemma smiled, “Well, I cannot wait for us to be able to go house shopping”, I laughed, “I’ll definitely let you know Gems”.

Harry. London, England. 10:30 A.M.
“See you in a few mate!”, Jeff nodded and continued to walk with the personnel from BBC while I made my way to the entrance to collect Y/N and Pippa, as soon as I saw her she gave me a big smile and I pulled her into a kiss and hug, then we started to make our way back to my dressing room.
Once inside I lifted the blanket covering the stroller and smiled at the sleeping baby; not wanting to disturb her sleep I let the blanket fall again and walked to sit with Y/N on the couch, once I settled her on my lap, I started kissing her cheek repeatedly while she let out some squeals and little laughs.
A ping from her phone had me pulling back and reaching for my phone to see if I had any new notifications. She took out a deep breath and squeezed my arm before chuckling, I turned to look at her and gave her a questioning look, she settled on my lap and whispered “Harry…”, u hummed and kissed her nose with my eyes closed.
She whispered again, “They accepted the offer”, I opened my eyes and smiled at her, my eyes asking her to confirm what she just said, and she nodded before speaking up, “We got our house H”, I stood up and pulled her into a hug while we spun, making sure to keep quiet for the baby. I stopped and whispered against her lips, “We got our house baby”, she nodded and placed a chaste kiss then whispered, “We got our house”.

Glasgow, Scotland. 7:30 A.M.
A whimper coming from the monitor pulled me out of bed, I grabbed my sweatshirt then made my way to the adjoining room where we had created a nursery for Pippa, turned on the lamp and cooed at the crying baby, “Oh no baby what are those tears for huh? We’re here for a dress-up party for your daddy!”
I settled on the bed and removed my sweatshirt and shirt so I could feed Pippa, who latched immediately, “Oh you were hungry huh? I’m sorry baby I am such a meanie huh?”, she turned to look at me and my eyes watered, I still could not understand how I could love her so much.
Once she finished, I changed her diaper and we left her room and ordered some room service, the turned to pull out the little cake, candles, and balloons I bought yesterday while sightseeing with Glenne. As soon as I finished setting up room service arrived, and I went into our room to wake him up.
With Pippa in my arms, I walked to my side of the bed and settled with her on the bed, once she saw her dad she squealed and I laughed, then placed her next to Harry’s face, “Come on baby say, ‘Dada wake up!’”, she started aggressively patting his cheek; he let out a deep breath and chuckled, “Morning baby girl! hello you!”, he turned around and pulled her into his lap, she smiled and he pulled her in for a kiss then turned to look at me, “Hi baby.”
I smiled and leaned to kiss his lips then whispered, “Hi, breakfast is ready, wanna come out?”, he nodded then handed me the baby, went to the bathroom and as soon as he came out, we headed to the living room. He stopped on his tracks and smiled at the decorations I set out for him and pulled me into a hug.
We sat down and started eating breakfast, then I lit up the candle and before he could blow it I cleared my throat, “I just want to say that I’m so proud of you, it is amazing to be a witness to your radiance and happiness and to be able to love you at the end of everything”, I sniffled and he squeezed my hand and reached for Pippa.
“I know that we won’t be able to be with you every single date physically, but I need you to remember that we are always with you here”, I placed my hand over his heart and he sniffled before whispering, “I love you Y/N more than words are able to express it, and I know I repeat it a lot, but I truly will never ever be able to repay you for everything.”
I pulled him in for a kiss, then left a bunch of smooches on Pippa’s head before pulling back and whispering, “Now before you blow your candles, I want for you to make a wish for this tour, okay?”, he nodded and closed his eyes, then blew out the candle. Pippa and I clapped a little then kissed his cheek before speaking up, “Okay my love, you have about four hours until we have to be at the arena, so take your time getting ready, okay?”, he nodded then pulled me up, “How about we settle her for a nap then enjoy the tub for a little?”, I nodded then followed him.

Harry. Glasgow, Scotland. 7:45 P.M.
The murmur of the crowd was enough for my hands to tremble harder than they already were before and I could feel the sweat falling down my spine; I had been ready for a while and met my band for our pre-show ritual, and hugged my family, but right now the only thing I wanted was to hug my girls.
Speaking of, they have been on my dressing room for a while because little miss Pippa had an explosive accident, so I knew that’s where I would find them. As soon as I entered Y/N offered me a smile, however it disappeared when I started sniffling and making my way to them, “Baby what’s- “, I didn’t let her finish before I pulled her into a hug.
She started running her hand down my back while cooing at me, “Baby it’s okay, take a deep breath”, it took me a few moments, but I calmed down and we pulled back; she ran her hands down my cheeks and cleaned my tears.
Before I could speak up a shriek had us looking at the baby laying on the cushions next to us, Y/N laughed and pulled her into her arms kissing her head, “Were you missing us baby? we could never forget you huh?”, I smiled and handed Pippa my fingers to chew on, Y/N whispered, “Feeling better?”, I nodded, “so much.”
We stayed like this until Jeff came to get us, I pulled her up with me and we walked all the way to the side of the stage, we turned to look at each other and smiled, she spoke up, “We’ll be watching from the box, yes?”, I nodded and kissed Pip’s cheeks and her lips three times, “I love you baby, I’ll see you after okay?”
She nodded and I started making my way to the back of the stage and stopped on my tracks when I heard her scream my name, I turned to look at her, “Yes?”, she smiled, “Welcome to Love on Tour 2.0; break a leg handsome.”

Tumblr media
“please please i didn’t mean to!” the unknown man’s pleads were muffled by the blood gushing from his mouth. peter tsked behind his mask, wondering when they’ll ever learn to never touch a woman when they don’t want to be touched.
nothing gets him more mad than things that aren’t consensual.
“sure didn’t seem that way. i mean, you didn’t even apologize,” peter says condensingly, eyeing his webbing work. the man’s hands and legs were attached to the wall while multiple layers covered his torso. over time, his placing and aiming of the webs got easier. they do say practice makes perfect.
the man groans in pain and irritation.
like he has the right to be making any noise right now.
“i think you deserve an apology. don’t you think, miss?” peter tilts his head in the direction of the distraught woman, who seems to be in her mid-thirties (at the latest). after peter had comforted her, she calmed down once she realized who he was and that he could handle the situation. she contemplates his question, crossing her arms.
“yes i do,” she replies, glaring at the fickle man. he growls under his breath, spitting out the crimson blood drowning him. annoyed, peter shoots another web at his torso, not hurting him, but shocking him and pushing him snuggly into the brick wall of the alleyway. the man screams, frightened, and finally agrees to apologize.
“okay, okay! i’m sorry, i won’t touch you or anyone else ever again. just don’t kill me!” he begs again. it’s funny how he can change from growling and groaning to begging and pleading because he thinks he’s going to die. peter has more power than he knows sometimes.
“relax. i don’t kill,” peter waves him off and turns to the woman once again with sincerity. “will you be okay to walk home?”
“i’m feeling quite better now. i think i’ll catch a cab this time. thank you, spiderman,” her face softens and a gentle smile rests on her lips. her heels click away to the open sidewalk, waving for cabs until one halts for her. peter looks at the man positioned like a star on the wall.
“now what will i do with you?”
after bringing the attacker to the station, peter swings on home. he assumes it’s past ten, given the dark, starry sky. when he reaches his window, he lifts the creaky wood up and slips inside. he knows his aunt, may, is going to be upset because he came home late again, but she knows he has responsibilities to upkeep.
“peter!” may shouts from the kitchen while he rips off his mask. she opens his bedroom door and softens at his rough appearance.
“sorry for coming home late again.” peter mumbles, scratching the back of his neck.
“it’s alright, i want you to be safe. you didn’t kill anybody, did you?. you know—”
“i know, may. i know.” peter sighs because she gives the same lecture every time he comes home. she wants him to be safe, not to kill, don’t hurt anyone unless needed, etcetera etcetera.
“okay. well then go shower. you have blood all over your suit…”
peter was glad to go to school the following morning. he was going to see you during third period and you two were going to talk like you did yesterday. his heart fluttered happily in his chest just thinking about it.
however, when peter saw you during second period passing, you looked unwell. maybe you were sick with a cold or the flu? you trudged around the hallways and you didn’t socialize with anyone.
of course, you wouldn’t want to get anyone else ill.
peter assumes to himself as you lay your head tiringly on your locker from a far distance across the hall. a pang of hurt hits his heart knowing that you’re feeling so ill.
he wishes he could take care of you. he wishes he could give you soup and turn on your favorite movie. if he was with you, he knows he wouldn’t care about getting sick and would lay in the bed and watch the movie with you. he wishes he could comfort you. he wishes he could be the one to make you smile when you’re having a bad day.
peter wishes you’d want him too.
he frowns to himself, ripping his stare away from you. he knows that’s a hard concept to even conspire, but it still makes him dejected that you’ll never feel the way he feels for you. the ache in his chest grows, but for a slightly different reason now.
“this cold weather is really preparing me for the cabin. speaking of…” ned rocks back and forth on his toes, while peter turns to him with sorrow still in his eyes. ned doesn’t notice. “you really don’t want to go with us?”
“i’m sure. it’s a couple’s thing. i obviously don’t have a date and i would never want to impose,” peter replies shutting his locker slowly. ned squints his eyes at him.
“you good, peter?” ned questions more seriously than before.
okay, he did notice.
“yeah, yeah. just tired is all,” peter fake yawns with a soft smile to ensure that he is fine. he didn’t know that his sudden sadness would be that burdening so fast. it wasn’t even that big of a deal. it was just something that he had to accept, whether he wanted to or not.
it’s insane how emotions can be so intense and rapid when they’re connected to something important.
you were late to english. again.
you really tried not to be late to your classes, but it wasn’t always your fault. sometimes, you were having sex in the bathroom (which you hated yourself for) or mother nature decided to come early. you never had sex on your period, either.
so, today was the latter.
you skipped first period because you were curled up under your warm blanket and your body refused to get up. you were extremely tired as well, which didn’t help. but you knew how hard it was to get back on track with school work, even if it’s only a one-day absence. you trudged out of the comfort of your bed and into the cold fog outside.
when the final bell rang for third period, you didn’t attempt to run. not that you ever really ran, but sometimes you did a fast walk. with every five steps a cramp clawed your uterus, and you reconsidered going to class today. but you knew this project was worth a good chunk of your grade, and you didn’t want your partner to do all the work.
you plod into the mostly obedient classroom, all eyes staring at the teacher while she speaks. she doesn’t acknowledge you and continues to instruct. you don’t mind, and slot through the columns of desks.
“damn what happened to you? out too late last night?” jax obnoxiously chuckles behind his hand as he daps up his nearby friends. unlike the movies, he isn’t well liked by the whole school, only by his lame sidekick friends. the only thing that’s comical is how he’s wearing a letterman for the world’s most boring sport (golf) and he suddenly thinks he’s the most admired man on campus. if there was a sport for douchebags, he’d make varsity and be the star player.
jax has been like this since freshman year. he acts immature, rude, and arrogant to most people, but especially to you. he always goes out of his way to insult or make fun of you for entertainment. although you know the underlining reason for his harsh treatment, it doesn’t bother you any less. it’s hard to desensitize from negativity when you’re surrounded by it like oxygen.
you cringe at his comment and the unfolded scene. you barely have enough energy to get through today, let alone waste it on a dumbass jock who thinks he’s the ‘top dawg’ or whatever he says. another cramp kicks you, which makes you practically limp to your seat in the back.
“look she’s limping,” he points out to his friends with shoulder nudges. “he must have given it to her hard.”
more laughs are muffled behind their jacket sleeves, while you focus on breathing and reaching your desk. the class is too distracted with the teacher’s announcements to notice or care about the little interaction.
peter wasn’t listening to a word the teacher was saying.
his senses picked up on the chattering near the back of the room. he’s learned when to engage his power on his own, but his senses are automatically heightened when someone is involved in harmful situations. he has never eavesdropped on your conversations ever before, but conversations don’t sound like that.
peter heard the ‘jokes’ jax made about you, right to your face. it made him upset knowing that someone would talk like that. but it made him fucking furious that anyone would talk like that to you. you didn’t deserve that. peter didn’t know you as well as he wishes to, but he knows that jax is a jerk inside and out. an immature asshole to better say. no matter how high of a pedestal jax puts himself on, he’ll never hold a candle to you.
peter clenches his jaw so hard, he thought he might shatter his own teeth. it took everything in him to breathe instead of strangle jax with his webs in front of the whole class.
it’s like everything may ever told him was thrown out the window.
when the teacher finally dismisses everyone to continue their partner projects, peter doesn’t hesitate to snatch his backpack and head toward you. his heart pounds angrily in his chest, furious, yet still underlined with nerves because he’s approaching you like it’s normal.
he takes the seat beside you. you’re slouched with your hands resting on the desk while you fiddle with your fingers. peter softens his gaze, heart still beating rapidly.
what does he say?
“hey,” he gently starts, patiently waiting for you to say something. you blink a few times before turning your head toward peter.
“hey, parker,” you tiredly smile at him, trying to sit up straighter. your head subtly pounds from the nonsense you experienced with jax because that kind of stuff is so regular for you. if you look like shit one day, everyone assumes you had a previous late-night hookup. if you look gorgeous on another, they think you’re a slut who just wants attention.
can’t a girl just dress for herself?
at first, it angered you that people cared so deeply yet so little about you. now, it was so constant and repetitive that you didn’t dwell on everyone else’s small talk about you. but you can’t help but wish it would stop. it had a mental toll on you.
but deep down, you were only mad at yourself for giving in to the pressure of people around you.
peter gazes delicately at you, his teddy bear eyes easing some of the mental and physical pain away.
you wish all guys were as good-natured and self-aware as he seemed.
“are you okay?” peter breathily questions. he sees the heaviness under your eyes and your eyelids seem desperate to close. overall exhaustion is laced in your expression. he assumes you don’t want him to stare at you, so he tries his best to avert his eyes. but even when you’re sick, he still thinks you’re gorgeous. you always radiate such glowing warmth, so when you’re a little colder, there must be something wrong.
“uh,” you grumble, hesitant. you consider admitting to peter that you’re on your period and not just tired or sick. again, you didn’t dwell on other people’s thoughts, or their judgment. if anything, he’d probably disregard it anyway because that’s what guys always do. without stopping yourself, you admit. “i'm on my period.”
peter slightly widens his eyes, not expecting you to say that. he knew you were forthright, but he didn’t think you’d share personal information with him. his heart races quicker before he realizes his reaction probably isn’t helping.
“oh um… is there is anything… i can do to help?” peter stutters and he mentally curses at himself for acting like an immature fool. to be clear, he wasn’t flustered over the menstrual cycle part, they’re completely natural and uncontrollable, but by the fact that you told him so bluntly (even though he asked) is what shocked him.
you genuinely smile at his endearment, causing spots of warmth to spread over your chilly skin. your shoulders relax, releasing tension you didn’t know you had been storing in your muscles.
“unless you have chocolate, nothing is going to mend the stabbing pain in my uterus,” you dryly joke, moving some hair from your face. a gray hood lays on your head, protecting you from the uncomfortably cold air.
peter curses to himself, again, for not having chocolate in his bag.
sometimes, he wishes he could read minds instead of having the behavioral abilities of a spider. he has to remind himself that some people don’t have powers at all and he should be grateful and blah blah blah.
“i’m sorry, i don’t,” peter frowns again like earlier. “do you have a favorite?” he asks suddenly.
“a favorite chocolate?” you face him with curiosity, trying to forget the jamming headache. your cramps have halted more now than they have all morning. probably because you’re sitting comfortably for once.
“yeah or a favorite food you crave,” peter knows about the food cravings because of may.
when may’s favorite snack (pickles) were gone and she was too unwell to retrieve them, she would send peter to go to the store down the street. he hates seeing may in pain, but it only lasted for a couple of days before she was okay again. he doesn’t remember exactly when he stopped having to go, but he didn’t worry as long as she wasn’t hurting.
he would definitely bring you something if you asked.
“i mean, i really like chocolate pretzels? i don’t know why. probably because i always ate them a lot growing up,” you share openly. you spit out the first thing that came to your mind without hesitation. you were being oddly open. no one really cared to ask personally questions to you before, so you didn’t really know how to respond.
“noted,” he remembers how ned loves them too, so he’ll have to ask him where he gets them. peter curls one side of his lips into a tiny smile, while you smile back with skepticism all over your face. he feels his chest restricting and wonders if he’ll die. and least he would die a happy man. “we should probably get to our project.”
“yeah, yeah. we should,” you shake your head to look away from his soft features. he turns down and searches in his backpack for the papers. your eyes don’t drag away from him like you’d hope they would.
he wore jeans today. they appeared a little loose, but fitting enough so he’s not sagging. you could never imagine him in jeans; he always seemed like a khaki guy. a classic flannel shirt peaks beneath a navy sweater, and you wonder where he gets his style from. his hair is neatly combed, and it overall made him look put-together. you couldn't imagine yourself appearing that way, even if you wore pretty little clothes and did your makeup.
peter tilts his head back up and places the papers on the desk. he scoots the table closer to you with ease, and you two continue to work on the presentation fundamentals.
time flies when the bell suddenly rings. peter tucks everything back into his bag in a specific folder. his body freezes when his scalp feels your soft fingertips ruffle his hair. a blush arises on his face as he stares at the floor. when he finally looks back up, you’re gone.
you left the class with a small smile, feeling a little less worse than you had.
during lunch, peter instantly asked about the pretzels.
“oh, these ones?” ned plops them out of his backpack and peter gasps dramatically.
“you have some? can i have them?” peter pleads, without context. he’s never asked for them before when ned had brought them.
“since when do you like chocolate pretzels?” ned quirks a suspicious eyebrow at peter. he doesn’t like hiding anything from ned, so he gives in and tells him with a sigh. he doesn’t tell him everything, only that you’re the one that likes the pretzels, not him. ned doesn’t need to know that you’re on your period and the ‘conversation’ that happened with jax.
“does she need all of them? i just bought these yesterday,” ned complains, while betty sits next to him across the cafeteria table and kisses his cheek. peter envied their love, even if it was questionably odd sometimes.
since peter sits so close to you in english, he envisions kissing your cheek while you answer a question on the sheet. you’d try to hide your heavenly smile, but then you’d give in and giggle next to him.
he daydreams about you so much, some might think it’s exhausting, but they’re really what keep him going.
ned explains to betty how peter needs his pretzels for you and peter interrupts him with an embarrassed “ned!” because he said that “peter is practically in love with you.” which isn’t… he can’t. betty then convinces him to hand over the bag.
“fine, but you owe me,” ned groans and rolls his eyes while betty giggles and kisses his cheek again.
peter couldn’t find you at lunch.
however, he did spot you at the end of the hallway where he unexpectedly ‘caught’ you yesterday.
your hood was covering your head, but the way your backpack dangled loosely from your shoulders alerted him that it was you. your bag had a single stitch on it that he’d never noticed before as he gazed at you in the hallway.
the place was nearly empty like before since the day had ended. you pushed open the door and hissed at the icy breeze, instinctively crossing your arms for more warmth.
peter follows you through the doors and catches up with you. your eyebrows raise in shock and you halt your movements, but you relax when you notice it’s just peter. you remove your earbuds and pause your music.
“i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to startle you,” he instantly apologizes, cheeks flushed. it was probably from the sudden chilly weather, but it looked adorable on his cheeks. his lips were more prominent, rosy and pink against his fair skin.
“you don’t have to apologize. it’s fine,” you tighten your arms over each other, teeth nearly chattering. you weren’t a fan of the fall or winter because you got cold very easily. you were definitely more of a summer gal.
“i, um,” peter lost his words. you would probably think that he’s a freak for actually getting you the pretzels. you’ll probably think he’s crazily obsessed with you (he kind of is, but not like that). his hands are shaking, and it’s not only from the weather. “i got these for you.”
you peer down with skepticism, a small bag of chocolate-covered pretzels in his hands. you look back up at him with awe in your eyes. your heart clutches tightly in your chest from the kindness. you’re not someone who cries a lot, or at least in front of people, but no one has ever done such a thoughtful action for you. it was such a small thing, but it affected you more than you could have imagined. you blame your hormones for the brimming tears in your eyes.
“oh no. are these the wrong ones? i’m sorry—”
“no, peter, these are perfect. thank you. i…” you were speechless. he's so sweet. too sweet. he probably did this for everyone who needs it. you wish you had someone as endearing as him in your life consistently. you need it. peter’s wide smile is soon washed away.
“y/n? well, i didn't think you’d go for as low as a nerd,” the familiar snobby voice of jax makes both of your heads turn. he wears a smirk on his face, arms crossed as he approaches you two more closely. his ‘sidekick’ friend follows behind him submissively. jax looks down at the pretzels in peter’s hand and laughs. “the nerd got her chocolates. what is this, valentine’s day? please, how pathetic.”
when people talked or spread rumors about you, you tried not to care. you never engaged because it would never stop. you just learned to live with it because it’s been years. you’ve heard jax talk shit about loads of people over that time. however, hearing jax disrespect peter right in front of you made your blood boil so much, you didn’t feel as cold anymore.
“leave him alone, jax. he’s done nothing to you,” you glare at him with daggers in your eyes and a strong jaw. you were much shorter than him, but your distaste for his attitude was bigger. “i know you don’t like me, but don’t take it out on him.”
“sweetheart, i can do whatever i want,” jax clicks his tongue condescendingly while inching closer to peter.
those words flashed a different image through your mind, but you forced yourself to stand tall. you don’t need reminding of the past.
he rips the pretzels out of peter’s hands and chucks them on the ground. peter barely moves, staring at jax’s soul with small backward steps.
please, don’t hurt him. you plead to some higher power.
“she doesn’t like you. she wants you to think that. she’ll make you think that she wants to sleep with you, so you look like a fucking fool,” jax snarls in peter’s face with clenched teeth and an flared nose.
“shut up,” peter grumbles with clamped fists so compact his knuckles start whitening from the pressure. protectiveness spread throughout his whole body like a disease.
“what did you say? speak up,” jax provokes, glaring down at peter with a snarl on his face. you have a feeling this will get ugly and you really don’t want peter to get hurt.
“shut. up.” peter huffs out each word, and jax finally swings. peter ducks quickly, so jax punches again with his opposite hand. peter dodges it swiftly, sliding away from his predictable hits.
jax growls in impatience and swings more wild and aggressively. peter blocks his ‘hardest’ punch with his forearm. he latches onto his wrist and twists him around, pushing him backwards.
“i don’t want to fight you, jax,” peter states honestly, with his hands up. he’s annoyed with his perseverance in this fight that he’s not going to win.
he practically jumps towards peter with anger brewing in his eyes. with his arms wide, he tries to cage peter against the nearby tree, but fails horribly. peter simply ducks and sweeps his leg, causing him to tumble onto his back. if he didn’t, jax would have collided face first into the wood. jax stumbles back onto his feet while his friend watches with a gaped mouth. peter knew he couldn’t fight jax, especially not at school. he definitely wasn’t scared to, but it’s not morally right to himself, may, or you.
but god, did he want to beat the living shit out of him.
what is wrong with peter’s thoughts?
“beginner’s luck. i’ll be back,” jax spits on the ground, trying to make a statement before stomping toward the gym with his not-so-much sidekick.
you stand frozen, your body in shock from peter’s incredible defensive skills. he walks over to you with worry cascading his face.
“are you okay? i’m sorry, i didn’t want to fight him—”
“peter, stop apologizing. i’m fine and that was… pretty cool,” you cut him off with your hands on his chest. his heart was racing and his cheeks were flushed, but he did just finish a fight.
and he totally won too.
peter thought he might dissolve. even in the cold weather, he might melt right into a puddle on the cement from your palms resting on his chest. he knows you feel the pounding organ behind his rib cage, which makes him blush even more. if he stands still any longer, he’ll be permanently frozen in overwhelming affection. to avert himself, he bends down to retrieve the forgotten pretzels and hands them your way.
“do you still want them?” peter cringes at the wrinkled bag in his palms.
“of course, i do,” you snatch them from his hands and tuck them possessively into your arm. “i mean, you fought for these! they must be really good.” peter chuckles, muscles relaxing at your optimism.
there was your warmth again.
“so do you walk home or take the bus? or can you drive?” you ask with some energy. the fighting woke you up and opened your eyes. literally. jax’s always been a douche, but fighting through an innocent person about something that happened years ago? that’s pathetic.
“i can drive, but i don’t have a car. i usually take the bus, but it’s long gone by now,” peter scratches his neck and shuffles awkwardly. sometimes he feels comfortable with you, but most times he gets so nervous he forgets sentences. or words. or thoughts in general. even though his anxiety was heightened, he really wanted to walk you home. he would float to cloud nine. “what about you? do you drive?”
“i’m in the same boat as you. or car…?”
“do… you want me to walk you?” he felt his fingertips trembling and stomach clench. every second you didn’t say something, he prepared for disappointment.
“i would like that,” you smile. you smile. with teeth and everything. your cheeks looked soft and your expression was genuine. peter felt his heart flutter and fly away, while his stomach was littered with butterflies.
you both begin walking along the sidewalk, the school fading in the distance behind you. walking made talking less anxiety inducing, and more comforting for him.
“so where did you learn to fight like that?”
HOW DO WE FEEL ABOUT PART FOUR??!?

You were sitting in front of her grave.
The cold chill of New York winter settles into your bones. The trees were barren of any leaves with autumn having left a few weeks ago, no snowfall yet thankfully. The grass has been freshly cut along with some watering causing you to sit in a bit of wet grass, at least your coat was taking the moisture.
You brought some new flowers, just some simple white roses. The other flowers have been slowly wilting since your last visit, and you never want to have dead flowers resting with Aunt May’s grave.
As you replace the flora you sit back on the ground with the wilting stems staying in your hands to keep you from fidgeting around and picking the grass as you talk to her. You try to visit once a week, but sometimes you can only come twice a month because it will just hit you really hard one day that you have no one left, no immediate family anymore. The closest you have to any type of family is Happy Hogan, MJ, and Ned, which is kind of weird because when you think of your memories that involve the three of them, something is missing, a piece of a puzzle that won’t fit in its place.
“How are you today, may?” The wind just blows the hair around your face in different directions.
“I started to work at the Peter Pan cafe with MJ. Sometimes we have shifts together, but honestly, it’s kinda rare since it doesn’t get too busy there. The boss is an older man who’s lazy and has a snippy attitude for no reason, but it's an easy job. Don’t have to worry about my anxiety kicking in.” You stared down at your gloved-covered hands that clutched your crossed legs. Your lips rolled together as you let the silence cover you, thinking of what else to mention.
“Uh… Happy. Happy- he misses you, I miss you. He- uh… he took me in, unofficially adopted me. I’m thankful for him cause if I had to do all this- this, I don’t know, just I’m thankful he took pity on me and didn’t leave me to the wolves. MJ and Ned said they would’ve taken me in, but I think they just said it out of friendliness.” You shrugged your shoulders at the thought.
You perked your head up and glanced around the cemetery. Dozens of headstones, some having more grandeur stone carvings with angels or whatever. Fallen autumn leaves tumbled and kicked across the grass, sticking to trees or headstones before a breeze pushed them away and further off. It seemed you were the only person visiting a loved one at the moment, you wished someone accompanied you, but you liked being with May by yourself.
“Oh, uh, school. Probably want to know about school. I- I- I think I’m gonna take a gap year. Process and readjust to everything and I know if I was doing school I wouldn’t give my all and I don’t want to let you down. Plus, I need money and so I’ll probably need to work a few jobs- wanna help Happy with bills so he doesn’t feel stuck with me.”
A puff of air left your lips as you rubbed your arms up and down your biceps to get a good warmth back into your bones so you could stay longer. With a lick to your lips and a furrow to your brow, you hesitantly spoke a thought that’s been sitting on your tongue for a while, only feeling brave to speak them towards May.
“Ever since you- since you left… something has felt… off. I- I don’t even know what feels off, just that I’m missing something- someone in my life. But I don’t have anyone else. Mom and dad were gone too soon for me to remember their faces, Ben passed away a few years ago and then all I had was you. May... you’ve been my mom, you are my mom. And- and when the blip happened and we came back, that was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. Feeling like you were gone for only a minute but then people are telling you that it’s been five years and half the population turned to dust… but you came back and I felt safe again. And we got back into some normal groove again. And then hearing that you got into an accident and were killed-” your throat started to choke with restrained tears, “I’ve never been more scared in my whole life.”
You let a cry free before pulling yourself back in, wanting to continue your rant, “but, what I’m trying to get at… something feels out of place. I feel like someone is missing from the giant picture, memories feel like they’ve been edited- cutting out that person from our life, my life. Memories with MJ and Ned feel weird, and memories with Happy feel weird as well. Like trying to think about how the two of you met… something is burned away. I- I don’t know, probably just trying to find something to focus on.”
Your eyes met the dark stone, the words May Parker engraved with her date of birth and death. Your shoulders sagged, you were just talking to air about a nagging thought. Should probably look into getting therapy.
“I should start heading back, Happy’s probably worried about me.” You dusted your jacket and pants clean of any grass, might have a few wet spots soaking the fabric.
You stuffed your hands into the jacket pockets and just stood, not making an effort to leave just yet. There was a crunching of leaves that soon filled the quiet and you didn’t think anything of it, it could have been another visitor or Happy who came to visit and take you home, which happened a few times already. But when you looked in your periphery, it wasn’t someone at another grave and it wasn’t Happy. It was a boy.
Out of curiosity, you turned your head enough to get a proper look at the new arrival. You eyed him from head to toe, never seeing him around before. He looked to be about your age, just a teenager. A beanie covered his head, he wore a blue puffer jacket with a few stripes at the top with simple jeans and sneakers, nothing standing out. But there was just something about him…
“How did you know May?” The mystery boy spoke. It took you off guard, “huh?” Was all that came out. He cleared his throat and jerked his chin, again, “how- uh- how did you know May?” He turned to you before turning away.
“Oh, she- she was my aunt. Well, my mom really. Lived with her when I was young.” You stopped there and it was silent. You counted to five before asking, “how did you know her? If I may ask?” Your manners popping in.
The boy was quiet, eyes set on her name. He sniffled then wet his lips, “feast. I knew her from feast. She was- she was nice, always kind to everyone. She was like the mother I never had. I’m glad you had her as family.” His voice cracked on the word family, something you noted but didn’t push for further.
“Yeah. She was always looking out for the little guys.” A smile to your lips. “Was it just the two of you?” The boy asked then backed tracked, “only if you feel comfortable saying. Sorry, it just- it just slipped.”
You looked at the boy. He wasn’t fidgeting, but you could tell from his eyes that he was nervous about something. Your eyes just wandered over him, sure it may seem rude but you couldn’t help it. It was like a magnet was pulling you and you couldn’t resist the hold it had on you. You thought about lying to this stranger, but you didn’t. “Yeah. Well, it wasn’t always just the two of us. She had a husband, his name was Ben, and he’s buried in his home state. But he got shot during a robbery about… a decade ago… blip time difference is weird.” You mumbled off, realizing he died five years ago for you but with your dusting, that added an extra five. The boy agreed with a light chuckle, it warmed you.
“What about you? Any family still with you?” Bouncing back on his question.
His eyes drooped a slight frown on his face, “uh…no. No family, just me.” His eyes caught yours before, once again, looking away. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to-“ “Oh! No, it’s- it’s fine. I was asking the questions first anyway.”
You rolled your lips as you swayed on your feet. Neither of you decided to speak, just stood beside each other as you stared at the headstone and listened to the leaves falling. You wanted to look at the boy again but withheld yourself from doing so.
“I should- I should head home. But it was nice to meet you…” you trailed off hoping he’ll present his name. “Peter… Peter Parker.” He held a smile at the last name.
“Huh, funny coincidence. I’m (Y/n), Parker obviously.” You bid Peter a smile goodbye and turned your back to make your walk to the subway.
“Hey! Uh (Y/n)!” You heard the shouts and the crunching of leaves beneath his feet as he hurried to catch up with you. You stopped your steps and looked at Peter as he stopped a few steps away.
“Do you… do you take the subway?” “Yeah…”
“Do you mind if I walk you? I just- I would just feel a lot better knowing you made it safely plus I think May would… sorry- sorry. Only if you want, of course, I mean you just met me and-“
You stepped closer and touched his arm, “hey, it’s fine. I would like the company. Plus, it’s just the subway, you’re not walking me to the front door.” You shrugged at the end before nodding your head to the iron gates.
-
The two of you traveled down the busy and packed streets of New York. Shifting and turning your bodies so you didn’t bump into anyone, especially someone who wasn’t in the right mood that day. The walking was quiet at first, two strangers who just met and didn’t know what boundaries were already drawn. You kept making glances at Peter beside you before looking away, at the sky or the buildings around you.
“Are you in school?” Peter was the first to ask, once again. You were thankful he took the first steps.
“Oh, well I’m eighteen so I’m about to graduate high school. And I was planning to go to college, out of state or in state, not sure. But after May… I’m taking a gap year. Want to get my bearings first before I focus back on school… How’s your academic future?” You eyed him as he watched you talk.
“Uh, well I’m eighteen as well. And something happened during the school year so I kinda have to start senior year over again. I was planning to go to MIT for college, but that’ll just have to wait.” He scratched his nose before stuffing his hand back into his jacket pocket.
“Another coincidence. Two of my friends are going.” You saw the smile Peter tried to hide from your comment.
“Do you have a job, Mr. Parker?” Already giving joking nicknames.
You didn’t notice the stiffness to his shoulders or the sadness that glazed over his eyes before stuttering, “uh, I’ve applied to a- a few different jobs. Kinda hard- not a high school graduate so my options are limited. Gotta look for the desperate places.”
“But those are kinda sketchy. Not the safest.”
His attention was on you, “yeah, well, I can handle myself.” He nudged your arm and pulled a smile from you as you shook your head. “What about you? Any sketchy jobs?”
“Not sketchy, just boring and quiet. I work at a small café with my friend. An easy job since I have anxiety.” You keep your answers vague with enough detail.
Silence came back around. Cars honking and people talking to each other or over the phone. Couples holding hands or looped around each other.
“Anyone special in your life?” Was your first question to come to mind.
You weren’t sure if the flush was due to the low temperature or the abrupt question towards Peter, who’s still a stranger, about if he was seeing someone.
“No, no. I- I had someone, but she left me. For the best, I think.”
“Why is that? Secretly with the mob or something?”
He laughed, “Nah, nothing like that. Just… I'm broken and a mess. Don’t want her dealing with… all that.” He made a circling hand gesture. You just hummed.
You weren’t paying much attention to your surroundings so you didn’t see the group of kids running and pushing into everyone coming your way. So with a tight hold on your bicep and a yank, you yelped and looked around. Peter pulled you behind him and you followed his eyes as you watched the kids pass as they shouted and yelled.
“Stupid kids.” You muttered before continuing your walk. “Thank you, for pulling me.” “Oh, it’s nothing.”
You were only a block or two away from a station.
“What about you?” “What about me?” “Anyone special?” He had a playful tone to his words. You just shrugged your shoulders.
“I’ve never been anyone’s first choice. I stick more to the shadows anyway, used to get bullied, so I keep my head down and mouth closed,” you looked to see if he was listening, and he was, “also, I’m kinda a hopeless romantic. Romance books, love songs; especially Taylor Swift's love songs, and a few rom-coms. Anyway, what I’m saying is that, no. No one special, probably not for a while. But maybe that’s okay, maybe I’ll find ‘the one’ when it’s time.”
Peter didn’t respond to your words. You smacked a hand over your face.
“What? What’s-“ “I just spilled my random thoughts to you, who’s still a stranger.”
You pulled your hand away and ran your fingers through your hair before moving it to your pocket for warmth. You looked at Peter and you were just full-on staring, eyes roving over his side profile or his face if he looked your way before facing forward. A tilt of your head came up.
“You know… maybe it wasn’t a coincidence.” You kept looking at Peter. “What wasn’t?” His eyes were on his feet.
“Meeting each other.” And you looked away just as Peter almost tried over his feet even as he watched every step. You kept walking, not aware of the cogs turning in Peter’s mind as he processed your words.
“What- What do you mean? How isn’t this a coincidence? I think it was just lucky timing.”
You threw a hand out as you talked, “What I mean is… maybe May sent you this way. Two people she knew and cared about, both lonely and without a family around. Plus come on, your last name is Parker. That's just crazy. I don’t know, just- it’s just crazy!”
You smiled at the boy as you crossed the street and walked down the crowded and smelly stairs leading to the subway. You checked to see if Peter was still with you and when you saw he was pushed back by a few people, you moved to the side and waited for him to meet your side. You flashed a smile when he reappeared and you both continued on your walk toward the entrances. You checked to see if any cops were around and seeing none you hopped over the spinning entrance, Peter a second behind.
“What train do you take?” “A train, you?” “F for me.”
You thought this meant that the two of you would split up, but Peter walked with you and stayed by your side as you waited for your train to arrive. You checked your pockets to make sure you had your phone, wallet, keys, and headphones, along with your taser and pepper spray that Happy bought for you. You texted Happy that you were waiting for your train and should be home within the hour.
After about thirty-five minutes you heard the screeching of wheels on tracks and saw the lights glow into the station. You turned to Peter with a smile, “well, looks like my ride's here.” He nodded at your words and he opened his mouth and then closed it. You stayed back seeing if he’ll say the words on his mind.
As the train got closer and he didn’t say anything you decided to be the first to speak. “Would it be okay if I get your number? I- I know we just met, but… you seem like a good friend.” You cringed a bit, it was almost like a terrible pickup line. And you weren’t hitting on him, it just felt gross to even think that.
“Yeah, yeah. I’d love to have a friend.” Peter stopped your worrying thoughts. You passed him your phone and then he passed it back before pulling his out and showing a text on his home screen.
You started towards the open doors and passed the rushing people and with a quick turn, you called out to Peter and he looked your way waiting to hear what you needed to say before you let the subway whisks you away.
“Stop by feast when you can. We can always use the extra hands and May would be thankful.” And before you got any reply you walked further into the metal tub and took a seat, sticking an earbud in and pressing play on an album you’ve had on repeat.
Already planning to visit May tomorrow after your morning shift to talk about your new friend. And Peter would keep watch from a distance and when you left he would speak with May quietly. Promising her that he’ll keep you safe and be your friend, maybe not your brother never again, only in his mind.

I Love Amy: The Coolest Webcomic I’ve Ever Read
⚠️MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!! I TRIED TO BE AS VAGUE AS POSSIBLE⚠️
Usually I’m extremely picky with webcomics, as I’m not afraid to drop them the moment I lose interest. So when I say this webcomic is interesting, it’s INTERESTING.
In fact, it may be one of my favorite ones.
Tumblr media
“I Love Amy” is a webcomic released under Peanutoon back in 2022. It follows Bibi Reden, a cutesy girl with a bunny motif who has an obsessive crush on a boy named Peter. Once she finds Amy Lee, a shy girl in her grade talking to him, Bibi immediately befriends her and tries to get Amy to help her get with Peter. But plot-twist…they fall in love with each-other instead.
Psychological horror, drama, romance, and comedy? I’m hooked.
My first impressions were that it was gonna be a stereotypical yandere story, with Bibi set with the motive to KILL Amy in the beginning for talking to her crush. But it’s much more than that.
Tumblr media
Bibi is a canon psychopath, who portrays traits of the disorder that are commonly expressed. But even so, the author definitely did their research. Bibi is low on empathy, has a tendency to lie, and can’t decipher right from wrong. But unlike contrary belief, she not incapable of love; she just loves people in her own special way, wanting to “keep them forever.” This is shown how she obsesses over Peter, and then later on, Amy.
Tumblr media
What makes this series amazing is that her disorder is not her only “personality trait.” (Which by the way, disorders aren’t.) Bibi is very energetic, cheerful, and sticks to her ideals. She’s unique and is still able to think about others (or those she likes at least). Bibi is so well-written, how could you not fall in love with her? And speaking about love, this is where her love interest comes in.
Tumblr media
Amy Lee is the definition of “plain-“ until you look a little bit deeper.
After a traumatic event involving her mother as a child, Amy lives with her aunt. Though she is loved and cared for in her current household and those around her, she still exhibits clear symptoms of PTSD. This causes her to be socially anxious and withdrawn, showing more signs of a social phobia than just pure introversion. But, she remains kindhearted and loyal. Amy is very down to earth too- a trait that’s personally to die for.
With Bibi’s eccentric personality and Amy’s closed off persona, they are like night and day. So, how could two different people possibly fall in love? Simple; naturally, like any other person. Even with their complexities, they are still able to love each-other whole-heartedly.
The webcomic also deals with themes about the effects of trauma, friendship issues (which I will get into another time), and sheds light onto family issues and grief. For such a cutesy-art style comic, it deals with every topic in such a unique and accurate way that I was really impressed.
So please, give this webcomic a shot!!!

Happy Birthday Scottish actor John (Hunter) Bell born 20th October 1997 in Paisley.
John got his first break in acting when he was eight years old through a Blue Peter competition to be in Doctor Who. He was a huge Doctor Who fan at the time and was doing drama classes, so when his parents heard about the competition, they entered him and he ended up winning. fellow Paisley actor David Tennant! And before anyone corrects me I know Tennant was born in Bathgate, but he moved to Paisley and was educated there!
Without that part in Doctor Who, John says he may not have pursued acting as a career. In fact, he nearly gave up on it altogether as a teenager.
In March 2008, he was the lead singing boy in a promotional trailer for the BBC 1 talent show ‘I’d Do Anything’, since then he has had some great acting roles, the most high profile must have been when he portrayed Bain, son of Bard the Bowman in two of the three epic Hobbit films. He also put in an appearance as Young Spud in T2 Trainspotting.
His TV work, for a 25 year old, is quite extensive, as well as Dr Who other shows have included Life of Riley, Tracey Beaker Returns, Hatfield & McCoys and Into the Badlands.
Of course young John is arguably most well known to the audience of the hit Starz show Outlander.
From season three onward he has been a recurring character, Jamie’s nephew, i.e “Young” Ian Murray, I enjoyed seeing him return to the fold, complete with Mohawk in the last season of the show.
In January 2022 John began his theatrical career in the a one-man show, The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me at Wimbledons New Theatre. John commented at the time;
“It was an opportunity to play somebody gay, and I’d never done that before in my career, even though I am gay. On Outlander, I’m playing a straight character, a guy who’s very different to me, so it was nice".
Of the latest season of Outlander John says
'Young Ian’s journey up to this point through the whole season, we’re really arriving at him fully developed. He’s not so young anymore. He’s fallen in love with America, with this land of opportunity and endless possibilities. He’s a passionate, loyal person, and he gets that from his uncle and his aunt. So of course, he is in for a penny, in for a pound in this fight and wants to give it his all. It’s very exciting. We’re gonna get to see a lot of warrior Ian again..... '
