seungmin gives off the type of neighbor that would act like he didn’t like you but the moment he sees you crying on your porch, a small basket of cookies shows up on your doorstep with a little note in neat handwriting reading: “crying will scare the birds away, eat these and don’t cry anymore. — your neighbor, kim seungmin” which is his own, sweet way of urging you to cheer up and say he doesn’t like it when you cry :(

music history placement exam complete! not to sound like a freak but man that was fun. i love being given an excerpt and told to figure stuff out about it
forcing me to make the call between classical or early romantic for the period of this string quartet. wretched. it's got that classical galant feel to it but some of the development harmony and show off-y shit in the first vln sounds early romantic to me…i want to say romatic but every other era is covered in another question already….then again there are like three 20th century excerpts too so...
"where was this piece composed? be as specific as possible" seems like a ridiculously hard question to ask and then i listen to the excerpt and i'm like. oh it's 12th century french organum. obviously. unfortunately i took mh i three years ago so i can barely remember what the nuances of medieval liturgical text setting are rip
i'm pretty sure i've sung this motet before LOL. i finished the questions for this excerpt so quick but then i just sat and listened to the full excerpt cause it's pretty. i love renaissance polyphony…
WAGNER JUMPSCARE. THIS IS FROM THE FUCKING MEISTERSINGER. "please list at least two features of the music that led you to your answer" i have played the overture before and recognize these motifs. this exam is pass/fail but gd i wish i could get bonus points for naming the exact opera this is from LOL
this one was tough…definitely some baroque opera, probably 17th century tbh. i need to watch more baroque stuff to be able to tell who this is besdies "not handel"

fuck i know what piece this is but i cannot remember what it's called or who wrote it. it was definitely on a listening exam in mh iii. weirdass atonal early 20th century song cycle or smth. i think this is serialism but i'm also forgetting what the difference is between serialism and expressionism is. i know this isn't 12 tone at least.
