The "male favoritism" in the encanto fandom was insane
People really watched a movie about amazingly well written female characters suffering from generational trauma and decided to make everything about this dude who had 3 minutes of screentime

Doctor Alto Clef Is Probably Not White
Dear SCP Foundation fandom, Doctor Alto Clef is unlikely to be white, or at least in the main canon and with his original author. The whole Francis backstory is frankly incredibly out of character and feels like a different character that his name was tacked onto for relevance and as a plot twist thing. Francis is generally incredibly well written, but Not At All The Same Guy.
In the main canon, IE the Clef-Kondraki incident, he is heavily implied to be THE BIBLICAL ADAM, in his interactions with the SCP who is clearly the Biblical Eve. She is canonically Middle Eastern, as are many Biblical figures both in the Bible itself and in the SCP canon. Clef converses with Eve in a language akin to Ancient Sumerian, fluently, and as if it is his first and most natural language. He also references Eden in other canon documents by the core Clef author.
PLEASE can we have more art of him as middle eastern! (You could make him lighter skinned going off of the one canon photo, you know, the one with the big ole rifle and his lovely DILF-esque tummy?) He's described as big-nosed and that's a feature that needs so much more love!!!
Often, in heterochromia, as he has, the brown or in his case "hazel" eye is the normal eye, with the blue one being the genetically mutated trait due to whatever condition causes said heterochromia, not to mention his condition likely being more anomalous than the usual genetic causes of heterochromia.
In terms of narrative symbolism, it makes the most sense for his third eye or aberrant secondary iris to be the green one, considering the color green being used in reference to reality benders and general symbolism in Western media as unnatural (when vivid), as magical and potentially villainous, and as ominous. (Think: Maleficent, Bruno Madrigal...etc)
Also! He is canonically fat and I am so so so sick of people erasing that about him. There is no excuse for that sort of erasure or for the 'inability' to draw larger bodies. His race is not explicitly stated in canon and is open to interpretation, however, due to his nature as heavily implied to be a pre-Christian biblical figure (Adam), I think it is most logical (as well as personally enjoyable for myself) to see him as Middle-Eastern Jewish (as opposed to Ashkenazic or Goy). He could easily be interpreted as North African, Middle Eastern, or even Central Asian, West Indian or Indo-Aryan, or an Ethiopian Jew.

Currently on episode 3 (2?) of MAWS. A few notes: One interesting thing about S:TAS is that you got an excellent sense of what the post-Superman status-quo was displacing. The first episode after the pilot involved Bruno Manheim, a conventional mob boss, running afoul of the Toyman, one of the first of the new crop of supercriminals, in a way that reminds me of The Long Halloween. Whenever Bruno Manheim shows up for the rest of the series, it's in the context of his struggle to remain relevant until he's killed while trying to be a cats paw for Darkseid. In the S:TAS pilot, Lex Luthor's big plan was an under-the-table attempt to evade an arms embargo and sell the combat robots to a post-soviet state; a very ripped-from-the-headlines plot for the 1990s, interrupted only by the abrupt injection of an out-of-context problem in the form of a Superhero. The show had a lot of nods like that, to the way in which Superman and company were beginning to upend a world that was, in terms of its economy and geopolitics, at least a little like our own. Justice League took it further- demonstrating that Superman has a positive impact on nuclear disarmament policy, but then further demonstrating the government's antsiness about the overall shift in the balance of power towards the Justice League, with their secret killsat and so on. However. The series was aware of how the world was changing, but didn't advance a precise mechanism for why all the disparate weirdness happened to kick off all at once, in time for Superman to encounter and fight it. Because that was pure Doylism- Now that Superman exists, wacky stuff needs to start happening so he can have something to fight each week. MAWS patches this from a watsonian perspective- there's a common (Kryptonian) origin of most of the supervillians Superman is going up against. However, there's a level on which this has made (all two episodes) feel siloed away from the world at large, in a way that the first two (four?) episodes of S:TAS didn't. Intergang goes from an established Mafia-style crime syndicate desperately using alien tech to remain competitive in a post-Superman world, to three comically-incompetent crooks who could barely knock over a convenience store. The robots go from a human technology built for war profiteering reasons to (implicitly) salvaged Braniac-tech. The arms-dealing plot is still present but it's a bit less clear on the face of it who's bankrolling this and who was supposed to be buying it. Cadmus is the strongest tie that this show has to the sense of realpolitik or the balance of power or whatever it is you want to call it, which was threaded through the older shows at a pretty deep level.
There's a level on which I'm being extremely unfair, because I'm comparing 60 mins of worldbuilding to a continuity that ran 15 years and probably close to a hundred hours- this could plausibly go anywhere. Indeed. One aesthetic criticism I had of the show, which I'm walking back before having even made a post about it, is that with the kryptonian tech meta-origin, I thought they were getting dangerously close to doing the MCU thing of villains who show up in costumes-that-are-barely-costumes, street-clothes or military-wear augmented by a few gadgets, with some aesthetic signifiers referring to the more costume-like costumes they had in the comics. Then I did a quick scan of S:TAS and noticed that very few villains in that are actually wearing costume-costumes- instead, it's altered physiologies, experimental bodysuits that look like skintight spandex in the abstracted artstyle of S:TAS, or clothing that's just the style in the alien society that they're from. Villains who are clearly wearing considered costumes are much more prominent in Justice League- set years after S:TAS, when the precedent for costumed villainy has had time to solidify. This last paragraph was what this post was originally going to be about, incidentally.

Best Underrated Anime Group G Round 2: #G5 vs #G8
#G5: Sheltered city boy meets outlaw and learns dark truth about the city
#G8: A tutor tries to teach eccentric princes for the throne
Details and poll under the cut!
Tumblr media
#G5: No.6
youtube
Summary:
Many years ago, after the end of a bloody world war, mankind took shelter in six city-states that were peaceful and perfect… at least on the surface. However, Shion—an elite resident of the city-state No. 6—gained a new perspective on the world he lives in, thanks to a chance encounter with a mysterious boy, Nezumi. Nezumi turned out to be just one of many who lived in the desolate wasteland beyond the walls of the supposed utopia. But despite knowing that the other boy was a fugitive, Shion decided to take him in for the night and protect him, which resulted in drastic consequences: because of his actions, Shion and his mother lost their status as elites and were relocated elsewhere, and the darker side of the city began to make itself known.
Now, a long time after their life-altering first meeting, Shion and Nezumi are finally brought together once again—the former elite and the boy on the run are about to embark on an adventure that will, in time, reveal the shattering secrets of No. 6.
Propaganda 1:
Ever watched a show that was obviously adapted from something, and you feel like there must be more to it? Such shows are often obvious to spot—My Happy Marriage, Pandora Hearts, Mekakucity Actors, etc. They present to us a unique plot with great worldbuilding, yet while watching, it always feels like it falls short somewhere. The characters aren’t that developed, plot points don’t seem to connect, side characters aren’t given much attention, etc. So much missed potential, and you can’t help but lament it.
No.6 is another one of such shows. I haven’t read the original novel, but as an avid web novel reader, I could just feel that there is so much more to it than the anime lets on. The mystery is intriguing, the world is complex, and the budding relationship between the two main characters felt natural and relevant (No.6 has a shounen ai subplot, by the way).
Overall, the anime managed a coherent plot, and I still like it. But after watching, you’ll be left unsatisfied. It keeps you wanting for more. Keeps you searching for answers. But despite this, I believe it’s worth a shot. Whether you vote for it or not, try watching it anyway.
Propaganda 2:
It's a suspenseful science fiction that has a unique take on class issues using the setting of a world post apocalypse. It crafts a unique world with incredible characters you want to succeed. The relationship that develops between the two mains is a heartwarming respite in the cold world they inhabit. The mystery of the show keeps the audience entertained and on the edge of their seat.
Trigger Warnings: Body Horror, Genocide, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore, Implied Child Abuse, Guns, Humans being treated like objects, Sexual assault on a supporting character, Mentions of prostitution
Tumblr media
#G8: The Royal Tutor (Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine)
youtube
Summary:
Equally charming and stern, Heine Wittgenstein is a brilliant man who commands respect, despite his short, childlike stature. Thus, the king of Grannzreich has called upon Heine to undertake a daunting task that has driven away many before him—become the new royal tutor to four princes who are in line for the throne.
The four heirs each have very distinct and troublesome personalities: Licht, the flirtatious youngest prince; his immature older brother Leonhard; Bruno the studious third prince; and Kai, the oldest of the four and the most reserved. Hilarity ensues as Heine attempts to connect with each of the princes in order to groom them for the throne. However, Heine's mysterious past and dark undercurrents in the present may threaten the harmony within the kingdom.
Propaganda:
This is just such a feel good anime, and it teaches important life lessons through the daily struggles each of them princes go through. The princes each go through some kind of development, be it overcoming a weakness or feeling more sympathy for the common people. And despite it being much lighter in tone, it doesn’t shy away from sometimes delving into more serious topics, since of course one of them is supposed to run the country one day. They all have exaggerated personalities, and despite being seen as too posh or selfish at first, it develops so well.
And let’s not forget the glossy art style that’s just eye-candy or the comedy, which is a primary genre of the series. Just the way Heine structures his lesson, starting with more traditional methods and then delving more into each of their passions, makes me want to have him as a teacher. Despite being strict sometimes, tho.
Overall, it doesn’t present many new ideas, but it just makes you feel nice and warm inside, and maybe you can learn a lesson or two, even if you are not royalty.
Trigger Warnings: None.

Any tips for someone starting out writing an OC fic? How do you deal with hate? Does it ever bother you that the fandom is split on your favorite character?
Oh wow there's a lot to unpack here... *cracks knuckles
Firstly, you should enjoy writing your fic so, while it's easier said than done, try and not overthink how that will be perceived by anyone else. This coming from the biggest overthinker *chews on own words
The same goes for your favorite character and if others prefer to see them one way that goes against how you've written them. Some fans stick more to the canon material while others enjoy creating worlds based on that material and might deviate from the canon script. Both are beautiful interpretations and neither one is more valid than the other.
okay enough rambling haha
As far as oc world building I'll just give the same advice I've given to those who asked in my inbox 💕
You have to create your own source material and understand your ocs so I always have character sheets for each main oc (age, origin, parents, gift, hobbies, etc).
Then I do a story outline which includes bullet points for each chapter, chapter titles, little quotes of things I want to remember to add in that they might say, any info/dates to remember. I can better see plot holes and move events around in that timeline then.
I also have a summary for symbolism at the very top of this outline where I like to tick off mental notes of symbolism in the story that I want included.
An example of this would be in Into The Fire the magical barrier that protects Encanto's entrance is described as a translucent rainbow shimmer that judges pure souls and their intentions 🌈 🏳️‍🌈
Lastly, a tip on oc POVs: Finding interesting ways to use different POVs will help flesh out your oc. I'm going to give a few examples cause it's easier for me than rambling 🙈
Before I introduced Ertha's POV, her chapter started as Unknown POV and only by the very end of that chapter was her name mentioned by a character.
Benji is one of my most loved ocs (I think so at least ) cause his POV was slowly added throughout the story in the form of short bonus chapters that gave insight to how he felt vs just outright explaining that in the overall story. That had a bigger impact on how we ultimately perceived Bruno and Benji's relationship.
POV shifts: Hiding relevant information in the form of telling a chapter in one POV and then letting both the reader and that character discover the information at the same time. Then switching to explain the other side's POV in the next chapter (but please for the love of god do not repeat the same chapter only through a diff POV, it's my pet peeve). An example here would be how Luna found Bruno's note after he left. There was no true indication in her mind that that was going to happen and telling it from her POV allowed us to be surprised when it happened. The following chapter was from Bruno's POV the night he left.
Or how Benji experienced the events in the adoption ceremony chapter. It was never mentioned during the lead up what was happening in that chapter until the ceremony started. I think that gave more weight to his feelings once that information was revealed.
Anyway.... this is long enough. Clearly I could talk for hours about this subject haha

the thing is that... okay it starts with antonio's ceremony right, but it's Different because AU. Mirabel and Isabela's roles are different and because of that everything else changes a little (Abuela favors Mirabel but in a very specific way, different from the way in which she favors Isabela in canon, so there's a very different dynamic and she expects different developments and outcomes etc, meanwhile Dolores is happily engaged to Mariano, who hangs around the house quite a lot, and Antonio isn't nearly as scared of not getting a gift as he is in the film), but... apart from some subtle changes in characterization and dynamics, a different kind of story and plot that's established, and a different source of tension... the whole chapter is FAR too similar to the beginning of the film: Antonio's ceremony, problems with the candle and maybe cracks, need to introduce all of these characters quickly, beginning of the story... I don't like how it looks.
I haven't writen much so I could easily change some things up to set the first chapter during a different event. Dolores' wedding, maybe. That would improve some things: it's more efficient and it makes more sense, since Dolores and Isabela have a very rocky relationship in this AU that is very relevant to Isabela's arc, while her relationship with Antonio almost feels forced and designed only for this one scene that isn't even that good, not to mention, Mirabel's job in this chapter is to keep Isabela out because she thinks she'll ruin the event lmao, and one may expect her to act normal and not like a queer coded disney villain for a night for Antonio's sake, right? But they all know Dolores doesn't want to see her cousin at her wedding, so. Not to mention it gives me more freedom to play with the timeline. How old is Mirabel? She can be 15, 19, 35... I'm still going for "late-teens" but I'm no longer locked on 15 specifically. She can be a little bit older. I think 17 is an age that makes sense (... it was Isabela's age when he had her big breakdown 👀).
At the same time, that only solves half of the issue, because while the reader can maybe forgive the similarities with the film when it comes to starting the story at a big family event, the fact that it leads to Mirabel being alone at night in the house and seeing the cracks is still the keystone of both the chapter and the first act of the movie, so, would I need something else? The reason she tries to get close to Isabela in the first place is that she blames her for the cracks, and then she discovers Isabela is planning to leave, so she thinks that is what's causing the house to break, and if she convinced her to stay and reintegrated her into the family as A Normal Heterosexual Lady, she can fix everything and save their home, right? And then she has a whole character arc yada yada yada but that's the point.
I don't even think the cracks themselves needs to be changed. Using the cracks to drive the story is perfecty fine. My problem comes with this specific scene, Mirabel learning about them, or, at the very least, first getting the idea that Isabela is causing them. I'm thinking that, since she's a little bit older and the situation is much different, maybe she already knew about the cracks, and is secretly working to fix them? I'm talking some Hernando and Jorge kind of work, she's there spending her evenings inside the walls patching things up (which would also establish Bruno's absence inside the walls and incite the reader to ask where he is 👀). Maybe only Abuela knows. In this fic, Mirabel isn't Abuela's personal babymaker or anything gross like that unlike canon isabela, she's more like, her lieutenant. Her right hand man. They trust each other completely and work together, because Abuela has come to see Mirabel as her heir, and thinks her giftlessness signifies that. So, she could easily... literally tell Mirabel to check on her sister, and tell her of anything she learns (which gets spicy when Mirabel starts keeping secrets from her >:3c better establishes what her relationship with Abuela will be and how it will be challenged through the story uwu).
Okay, okay, I think I like where I'm getting to, now I just need to edit some things and... write it... 😭😭😭😭😭

105 years and change, ago…
A rather prodigious mind, an indefatigable creator, a hard worker abused by his employers, an indisputable talent… and a complex-yet-kind man that still remains an unsurpassed example for all the other professionals on the field. It was so with him then, he remains so to this day. That’s the five phrases that describe Jacob Kurtzberg, the best lines to address Jack Kirby’s seemingly immortal legacy in the least words I could muster, and still stay true to every aspect of his work and status as a legendary figure in the world of comics. But it has been 52 years since Kirby’s mind gave us what I consider to be the summit of his creative experience when in 1970, in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134, the readers got to see the first appearance of one of the best villains ever created. A rather common saying purports a hero is only as good as the villain he is facing, yet Kal-El (Clark Kent, you know... Superman) had already proven to be a very good hero. Yet the arrival of Intergang (S’sPJO #133, published in Aug 25th, 1970), along with the introduction of The Outsiders and Habitat, almost single-handedly became the real landmark issue that ushered the indisputable peak and end of Silver Era of Comics into the world. Yet the incredible scope for adventure that this funny book had opened, would only come into being a month later. It was in S’sPJO #134 that we have the first brief glimpse of the villain that would bring Superman to a point nearest true exaltation. In yet another bout of mad genius and his capacity to synthetize universal concepts into asingle idea and the anthropomorphize it, Jack Kirby:coalesced the perfect nightmare being to haunt and antagonize Kal-El, and to actually pose a threat too great for him to go at it alone. Kirby had given birth to the Sum of All Evil in the DC universe, well outside the hells already depcited and the inhuman conquerors from outer space and an immortal from the dawn of the human race. In what I like to refer toa a the most inspired event in his creative life, Jack Kirby gave us the villian par excellence, once Uxas dropped his birthname, after murdering his brother Drax and stealing the Omega Force, and became:
Tumblr media
The reveal was less than stellar, but thrilling and captivating nonetheless, so when it was clearly stated both Intergang’s leader Bruno Mannheim and Morgan Edge—owner of Galaxy Broadcasting and recent proprietor of Daily Planet—were running things under orders from a mysterious character in search of something called “the Anti-Life Equation”, the stakes in Superman’s adventures were elevated to the truly cosmic level, for Darkseid, he’s a god, you see? A New God to be precise and the only being to ever truly oppose every single thing the Man of Steel stands for. From that point in time on, Kirby kept introducing the various elements of what would come to be known as The Fourth World, and while many of the character created to populate this uinverse of New Gods are still the object of adoration by tens of thousands of fans, not one of the has the lasting power, mystique and appeal Darkseid has. Not even his own adopted son: Scott Free (a.k.a.: Mr. Miracle) and his powerful, beautiful wife Big Barda can rival the enigmatic charisma this enemy of all Life has. His schemes have been many and surprisingly varied, even when his goal is very specific. He been at the center of many major plots in the DC multiverse and the key figure in one of the mega crossover events some of us aren’t that keen about—thank Heavens for collected editions encompassing the majority of the relevant titles in these moneygr... erm, “earth-shaterring summer events.” Alas! Recent... developments have made his existence a little more convoluted than was really needed and thus, a bit less fascinating, but there’s hope some will come to their senses and get rid of all the “omniversal” complexities to bring back Drakseid and the horrendous might of Apokolips back to their former glory. One can only hope, Superman and the Justice League need something more than just metaphysical ramblings to face, and the universes need a true Darkseid Prime resembling—respecting—Kirby’s original intentions for the character. After all, no matter how much his enemies try to defeat or destroy him... DARKSEID. IS.

I finished JJBA part 5! (Spoilers)
In general: I liked it better than I thought I would, but I felt like this part, the most of all the Jojo parts so far, really suffered from a case of “let’s stand around and aggressively explain what is happening instead of actually doing things”itis. Especially the ending.
I was also not a fan of Giorno having surprisingly little to do with anything, and surprisingly little personality of his own. I suppose you could argue Jotaro doesn’t really have much personality either - I don’t know, I feel like I at least understand Jotaro, and maybe he doesn’t have the same problem because there’s no one like Bruno in part 3 to overshadow him.
I dunno though, come on. This character is Dio’s son, doesn’t that create possibilities for some interesting character development? Is he conflicted about whether he’s got bad traits like his father? Does he have a special bond with Trish because he was also abandoned by a crappy, dangerous father? No. That plot point is really just there is explain why Giorno is the next Jojo, and once that’s established, it’s unimportant and really never becomes relevant again. I think that’s a big missed opportunity. And when there’s so many other characters going through interesting changes, Giorno kind of gets lost.
Poor old Doppio though, my boy dies alone in a puddle and no one cares, the narrative can’t even give him more than five seconds of time. I guess the Jojo bad guys (the ones that aren’t one-time antagonists who turn into friends after one conflict, I mean) are all very simple and evil and only exist to be dramatically destroyed, so I suppose the fact that the narrative bothers to give him the slightest sympathy at all is saying something. Poor kid though.
Part five: ok. Weird character designs but I got used to them. Nice opening songs. Some pacing issues. Some nice characters but I don’t think I was interested in the ones I was supposed to be.

I'm gonna lose my fucking mind y'all. The argument for Bruno "canonically being into incestuous relationships" is the weakest, most ridiculous thing I have seen from wacko incest enjoyers in a while.
For context, Bruno made up a telenovela plot about an aunt with amnesia being in love with her nephew. They claim this is evidence of him enjoying incest and that he told Mirabel this because he is interested in her/having a relationship with a family member.
I've heard from others that the reason for Bruno's little haha funny "oooo it's a forbidden love between two rat family members" thing is because incest is something that several popular telenovelas have. It's not because he's into incest, it's referencing a part of media that is relevant to his culture. And it wasn't unprompted because Mirabel was like "I don't understand" and he took that to mean that she didn't understand the plot of the story he was coming up with.
Can y'all use your heads for at least a minute and perhaps think about the film through a cultural lens, as it was intended to be, rather than reaching for any little aspect of it to turn into gross ass shipping fuel?

New Idea
So I watched Encanto and I really liked the movie.
And if you watched it you can't look me at the eyes and say you didn't saw the similarities between the movie and Boku no hero academia!
The way the family (mostly Abuela Alma) and the village treat the gifts is similar to how BNHA's society treats quirks.
So there is this AU for whoever wants to try it! I won't... at least not right now, I still need to finish two chapter for two different fics... and I have self control!
Anyways...
So, An AU in BNHA world, the Madrigals are a known family of superheroes, specially in Latin America but they live in Japan because of UA (since is supposed to be the best school for heroes)
And Casita is an AI house.
Pedro died when their kids were little during a mission, both him and Alma were spotlight heroes, his quirk was that he could control wind, he was Ehecalt (wind in nahualt), I'm giving Alma a quirk too for plot relevance I know she didn't have a gift either in the movie, her quirk will be fire, she can control any preexistent fire and the flames she produce aren't as hot and dangerous as the normal fire but the light could be blinding, she used to fight with different fire producer support gear so she had something to do damage. Her hero name was Candelaria
Now that Pedro was dead, the legacy of the Madrigal name felt heavier in her shoulders and she knew the world would be paying a lot of attention to their children once they got their quirks and when they could start training to be heroes.
She, like Pedro, also came from a long line of famous heroes, but getting married to a Madrigal just helped to be more recognized, since the Madrigal have a trajectory of hundred years being heroes in different areas, the family has heavy expectations and just like she was raised to fulfill them in her own family and then in the family of her husband, she is ready to raise her family the same way... but we know she is going to get it to her head and that won't end well.
The moment the kids in the family manifest their quirks their future is decided, their quirk will say what kind of hero they will be.
Pepa is a spotlight hero, number five in rankings, she is the weather hero Gaia.
Julieta is a rescue hero and doctor (like Recovery Girl) She is the healer hero Curandera (I or you could come up with a better hero name later)
Bruno, with his quirk he could have been the same kind of hero like Sir Nighteye, but since his vision were 70% of the time bad omen his quirk quickly started to be considered villainous, because of the power and influence of the Madrigal family he didn't face the same difficulties as other persons with "villainous quirks" but there were still people talking, of course Alma didn't like that, and pretty much like in the movie he blamed Bruno, maybe not agreeing that his quirk was villainous but believing it was a useless, she still tried to give it good use.
Because of the reputation of Bruno's quirk, when he said he wanted to be an underground hero she begrudgingly accepted, because she still wanted her son to be like Nighteye, but if he became an underground hero that would mean less people talking bad about his quirk and ergo the family. Besides their family also has some underground heroes on their lineage. His hero name is Omen
In this AU he didn't disappear, but he kind of cut ties with the family, mostly with his mother, his closest relationships are with his sisters and with Mirabel who was the only who openly saw the good of his quirk and thought it was cool and useful.
I'm giving Augustin and Felix quirks too because of the plot
Felix is also a spotlight hero, he can gather kinetic energy from his movements and release it in the form of electricity from his body, his hero name is Kin (again, feel free to come up with something better)
Augustin is an underground hero, his quirk is similar to Kirishima's but instead of stone his body becomes of a flexible and indestructible material ( I thought it would be nice since he is prone to accidents) his hero name is Endure (same thing with Felix and Julieta's hero names)
Now with the kiddos, now, here Alma is obessessed to keep the Madrigal legacy, so she doesn't care if the kids actually want to be heroes, they are going to and she doesn't even care what kind of hero they want to be, she decides if they go spotlight, underground, twilight, rescue, etc because of their quirks, she even decides their herosona and how they would act on dutty.
So, Isabella is a spotlight hero, her hero persona is a perfect lady, like in the movie, her hero name is Flora, and while in truth she does like being a spotlight hero she would like to be more wild with her hero persona, not be so graceful and use certain kind of plants that her Abuela doesn't approve of, she doesn't want to be a perfect lady, she wants to be a crazy and fun hero with a silver tongue, maybe like Midnight but without the R-18 part, she actually wanted to be called Venus (like the carnnivourus plant), but we know what Alma would think about it.
Luisa is also a spotlight, recently graduated from UA, she actually wanted to go underground since she doesn't like the attention from being spotlight but since her quirk was flashy and powerful Abuela thought that would have been a waste (wining some hard feelings from Bruno and Augustin), her hero name is Hipólita (like the Amazonian queen)
Dolores, she is an underground hero, her quirk allows her to hear where trouble is and to predict her opponents' movements, her hero name is Luna, because like the moon that sees what happens at night, her quirks allows her to hear and know what happens at night during patrol. She actually didn't want to be a hero, she wanted to be a detective, she is a Naomasa fan, and she knows her hearing could be useful in investigations and spying but alas, she had to be a hero because Abuela said so.
Camilo, when he got his quirk Abuela decided he could do well as a twilight hero, doing some spotlight job but also helping in the underground since he had the perfect disguises with his mutation, Camilo will be attending UA in this au. But he doesn't want to be a hero either, he wants to be a comedian, he loves to make people laugh and hero work is too serious and too much responsibility for him, but he doesn't have an option. His hero name will be Camaleón
When Antonio got his quirk at five (everybody was nervous when he didn't get it at four because of what happened with Mirabel) Abuela decided he could be a spotlight hero, but he still has time to train, but Antonio wants to be a zoologist, but even at five he knows better than to say so.
And Mirabel, when he was four and her quirk didn't come they at first thought she was a late bloomer, until at eight she was still with no quirk so they saw a doctor and she was revealed to be quirkless, extra pinky toe joint and all.
The family was worried because of two things, one they know the statistics and how their little Mirabel will be treated because of being quirkless, and two, Abuela's reaction, because even if they know she won't out right treat Mirabel like trash, they do know she will be highly displeased, and that she actually has some quirkist tendencies, maybe not from hate and with the intention of being cruel, but if you are not good for heroics then you are sure to have a hard time with her, Bruno is the proof and Abuela has always been a littler harder with Dolores until she proved her quirk was useful too.
And since all her life was about being a good hero and quirks, Alma is of the quirkist that think that quirkless people are not suited for heroics, so when Mirabel didn't got a quirk she was disappointed and started to treat her different, like a burden most of the time and was lowkey isolating her from her sisters and cousins since she didn't want her to distract them. Because of her family Mirabel didn't have a time as hard as other quirkless kids, but she was bullied in other ways, she was isolated and treated like she wasn't even there or like she was a waste of space, she also knew she was lucky, that other kids face much much much worse than her.
But since this Mirabel, she is still optimist and at firt took her quirlessness in stride.
I can see two ways of how this thing can go:
1. Mirabel doesn't want to be a hero, what she wants is to be in support and help from the backstage, we know Maribel is good with sewing and embroidery and I think that was her attemtp to be useful and have a gift of her own, so she does the same but with support, the embroidery and sewing is still a hobby for her so she is also into costume designe. Since she doesn't have a quirk she thought Abuela wouldn't force her into heroics, which she didn't but Mirabel didn't know she would ignore her or be so harsh with her, but okay, no problem, she can still be a good support creator and costume designer.
While getting ready for UA entrance examen she meets Quirkless!Izuku, they bond over being quirkless and she is the first to believe in Izuku's dream. They become friends and she becomes Izuku's support technician (Sorry Mei)
Or...
2. She still wants to be a hero despite being quirkless, she wants to be an underground hero like her papa and tio Bruno, but nobody but Bruno, Camilo and in a lesser scale her parents are supportive of her, Abuela actually becomes like All Might in this kind of fic, but a lot harder in Mirabel than All Might usually is with Izuku. Luisa thinks her baby sister will end hurt or dead, Isabela like in the movie resents her since she doesn't have the same pressure than her, so when she still wants to be a hero she becomes angry and just as bad as in the movie with her, like Bakugou but less explosive and abusive (physically at least).
Dolores does believes Mirabel can be a hero, but since it took her a lot get on Abuela's good graces she doesn't dare to show her support. Pepa and Felix decide to remain neutral, they don't voice their opinions, which is that with the proper training Mirabel could do it, but they don't dare say it to Abuela.
Antonio is team Mirabel oc and he shows his support, but after being scolded by Alma for doing that he starts to show it in secret.
Julieta and Augustin do think Mirabel could do it but they don't stand up for her enough and are a lot hesitant to show their support because deep down they are also worried about her safety because of her lack of quirk.
Camilo is 100% that if someone is going to be the first quirkless hero that is his cousin, but he knows better than to say so, but he still shows his full support in private and even teach what he can from his own training to Mirabel.
Since Bruno already has a stained relationship with the family he is the only one who openly supports Mirabel, until Abuela threatens to forbid any interaction he would have with her, after that he helps her in secret.
Bruno trains her in secret and at some point she meets Quirkless!Izuku and they bond over being quirkless, discriminated and wanting to be heroes, they become friends and Bruno ends helping the green bean train too, because until that point he was doing all self taught. They both got into UA's hero course, Mirabel decides to take the entrance exam with her friend instead the recommendation exam (because Bruno would totally recommend his niece) because she wants to do this with Izuku.
They do this in secret of course, so the family doesn't know until the first day of school, Camilo knew because he saw his cousin during the entrance exam, they at first thought Mirabel applied for the general education course, but when they saw the single button in the shoulders of her uniform they confront her, or more like Abuela does, but since Mirabel was accepted in the course there is nothing she could do, after that Abuela treats her worse.
To add salt to the wound, Mirabel got into 1-A with Izuku while Camilo got into 1-B
From class 1-A I'm kicking out Mineta and Sato, Mineta because I don't like him and I want Shinsou to be there, and Sato because I need a spot for Mirabel and I don't know I don't think I would miss him so much(?
For the curious ones: Izuku got first place and Mirabel second, you can change that if you want to use this AU but this is my version.
Also, since Izuku is my comfort character that means I have to make him suffer before giving him the world soooo, in this AU Inko is either dead, abusive/neglectful or Izuku is homeless.
Bruno and Mira of course notice, again they are not dumb and they know what normal quirkless kids with not powerful family go through. The problem is Bruno doesn't have an emergency foster license and bringing Izuku to casita with Abuela is not an option, and despite it not being any good, they know that Izuku is still better in wherever he is at the moment than in the system, the system is just not a option, they know that would be a death sentence, so intead they help in any way they can, giving him clothes, food, blankets, medical attention for the day when the bullying/abuse is too much and Bruno starts the process to get a license.
Lucky for them this AU comes with Dadzawa and Dadmic, they will eventually take care of the green problem child.
Also, Mirabel is also a problem child, Aizawa calls them the problem child duo, Izu is green problem child and Mira is loud problem child (because her energy reminds him of his husband)
Bakugo faces consequences along with Aldera is required, Bakugou redemption is optional, I personally don't know, depends of my mood.
Abuela redemption is also optional, I mean Endeavor got a redemption in the manga and Abuela got hers in the movie so it's up to you, I'm personally a little more inclined to say fuck it and don't redeem her. Isabela redemption is also optional, I probably will give it to her.
The class being supportive is up to you too, I like to think the some will be supportive and the ones that are not their reason is because they think quirkless people are fragile, they will do some microaggression but their discrimination come from ignorance and they are all willing to learn and do better, of course some will need some wake up calls, the only one to be actively quirkist shit will be Bakugou.
All Might bashing because it became my guilty pleasure, besides he
did some dumb shit in canon soooo.
Nedzu-sensei for Izuku too, everybody is terrified, the green bean is a genius and Nedzu is happy with his new personal student, Mirabel is both happy and terrified for his friend, she eventually warms up to the idea because the confidence boost Izu gets from that and because all the chaos they now can do together.
Bruno and Aizawa friendship because I say so.
Mirabel and Izuku becomes an underground duo and the first quirkless heroes.
Ships: Erasermic obviously, and my OTP TDDK but this is also optional, I'm not shipping Mirabel with anybody.
And that's I have for now, feel free to ask any question you may have or to share ideas, also if you are going to write about it please tag me!

What does your interpretation of Zacharias think about Líf and Thrasir? (You can either just answer or write a lil story if you feel like it)
OOOO now i have thought in my free time a fair amount about what líf thinks of zasha but, and i cannot believe this, i have not thought about what zacharias thinks about líf and thrasir. full disclosure, book III happened to be going on when i formally stopped playing feh. i kept up with the story after that but, theres my obligatory knowledge base disclaimer.
also minor cws through this whole thing because i talk here and there about zacharias and his... mm, canonical relationship to death/selfharm
-
so, i spent a lot of time thinking about this one, and i keep coming back to my gut reaction, which is that i don't think zacharias would like them very much. i dont know why i think that, though.
PART ONE
i think a lot of it would depend on how they approach him, which is maybe why i've spent more time thinking about the reverse of this ask, come to think of it. see, i think zacharias could go any which way in terms of what he thinks of them. i think he could hate them, as two people who killed versions of everyone he ever loved, including metaphorically killing off the two people closest to him.
i think he could love him, having seen the hell (ha ha literally) that they went through. understanding what that feels like. given the way he talks about his suicide attempts, and honestly that he spent most of book I trying to get people to kill him, really his whole relationship to death. i mean the man talks a lot about death and killing. he might not be the feh OC who best understands how manipulative and... whats a good word. alluring? what im trying to say is that besides eir, he might be the one most likely to understand why Hel and hel's offer appealed to líf and thrasir. i feel like this bit has a place here: "With his dying breath...he begged for his life. He called out your names! "I'll do anything you ask! Just let me live!" excepting of course that i still am not sure if i think he said/thought that or not. ive never been sure who really is in control of speaking right then and there. Anyway. Probably he could come to understand Líf and Thrasir's stance, enough that he could care about them the same ways he cares about his versions of Alfonse ann Veronica
on the other hand, i can see him being fully horrified by the choices those two made in response. this bit: Not anyone... This dark god...seeks death. And it cries for the destruction of Askr. Like. Líf and Thrasir are intentionally enacting the same thing as the dark god's desires, in order to correct a mistake they made that, uh, also enacted the same thing as dark god's desires. talk about awkward. and i think Zasha, who has lived with this nightmare in his head for so long, might recoil from people who are so directly aligned with it. who wants to be around someone who has become, who has chosen to become, everything you ever feared you'd be? especially when you're nearly drowning from the effort of fighting to stop yourself.
i could also see him meeting them and it being incredibly, incredibly bad for him. i feel like, he puts a whole lot of... mm. what am i trying to say.here:
Yet it is you that says this, dear friend, and so I must consider it. I see the faith reflected in your eyes. Perhaps it is possible...
SPEAKING OF BUNNY ZACHARIAS I ALSO THINK YOU COULD TAKE THE FOLLOWING:
You never change. All you see is a lofty goal, even if you lack the means to achieve it... The idea that gods would fall by the hand of man is a fantasy... and a preposterous one. This is a goal that even our ancestors Líf and Thrasir could not achieve.
setting aside the obligatory wtf zash i know you know your lore (fuck, maybe there is no killing the gods, maybe all Fire Emblem victories are temporary at best and Zenith is the only one who knows it. but i think, probably not), i think you could spin a very believable scenario where zacharias takes one look at these two ambitious, arrogant posers and absolutely refuses to speak to them any further.
so, part one, i think that zacharias could think any number of things about líf and thrasir. which i suppose means that i think he's fairly neutral on the subject of líf and thrasir. makes sense to me, i suppose. i feel like zacharias | bruno has practice (regardless of whether he's any good at it or not, or whether its any good for him) at holding and maintaining separate personas, so I don't think the fact that líf and thrasir were alfonse and veronica would necessarily be all that important to him.
which brings me to part ii
what happened to dead zenith zacharias
if zacharias is neutral on the subject, I think a lot of their relationship is going to pushed in one direction or another by líf and thrasir themselves.
and, complicating matters (when do I make things simple?), i think their approach to zacharias would of course depend on what happened to their zacharias. correct me if im wrong, but i dont think we have even a hint what happened to him.
there are three ish options I'm seeing. one: as dead world zenith is further along in its timeline and as zacharias claims he's almost out of time with his curse, other zacharias died due to that before the war with hel. i feel like scenario one is the most likely to lead to a good relationship between main zacharias and líf and thrasir.
two: mr. professional "knows plot relevant things out of knowhere" was the one who found out about angrboða's heart in the first place. especially given "As destruction took hold, we joined with Embla to seek the forbidden heart...", which to me sounds a lot like, "hel was kicking our ass then zacharias showed up and said we should go get this mystical plot object from embla". thrasir even says she and líf weren't allies before the world went to shit. anyway. hear me out here:
Yes. The heart is sealed within an Emblian blood temple. If that seal is broken, someone will die each time the heart beats... Those who perform the rite are the first to die.
Now. Líf claims he was the one who broke it open, but he also was present for the war that followed and only after was he killed and inducted into hel's army. so. both of those things can't be true. i propose that the magic mcguffin located in a sealed emblian blood temple was unlocked by our dear zacharias and thats what killed him in other zenith. i think its possible that other veronica was the one who did it, but you know. its all imagination at this point. also, and i forgot this, but thrasir does go off about how she can't lose until she saves her brother, so. something especially tragic happened at least. and oh boy is scenario two a nice fresh tasty tragedy. so that's scenario two. other zacharias directly died as a result of attempts to fight hel
number three thing that could have happened to zach is boring. he's always off doing things, he could have just died off screen. i mean. everyone did, eventually.
frankly he could still be alive for all i know. the heart appears to take the lives of people in the world, not of the world, or else the summoner would have been fine. so, if zacharias was on one of his off world jaunts, he could conceivably be a-okay. well. as okay as someone who's whole world died. i don't think that's what happened, because thrasir is pretty clear about feeling that she failed him, but yknow.
líf and thrasir's reactions to the above
thrasir is i think the most straightforward. i can't really see her approaching main zacharias with anything but positive intent. even if she's only a little bit open, i think thrasir and zacharias will probably have a decently tolerable relationship. if zacharias can come back to a country that exiled him as a kid and let his mother die in a dungeon and then go on to not just befriend but protect and care for a half sister he didnt know before then, then i think he'll find a way to care about thrasir. you know, intsys could have had fun making another perpetual older brother character. as i understand it, xander gets brother'd a lot, he and zach could have talked. could have been fun. a whole, zacharias, a historically traumatized child: *arrives in a world* every currently traumatized kid in a five mile radius: oh shit this one's ours now. you know what im saying? found family except zacharias would very much like it to stop finding him. he's got important brooding to do. but anway, they didn't go that route and its a tragedy.
líf is... more complicated. i think scenario one creates the most positive outlook. i can see him still having guilt over zacharias' loss, but i think any of it would be overshadowed by everything else that happened. in this scenario, líf finally gets back a piece of the world he'd lost. yeah, it's not his zacharias, but still. it is a zacharias, who is living and breathing and frowning and asking why you are staring at me, knight. i think the two of them could get along rather well, although i see them having significant issues with pessimism. inch-restingly enough... the dark curse bades its hosts to kill askrans. and líf is, well. dead. so... perhaps... perhaps líf wouldn't trigger the curse like alfonse does. in that case, not only does líf get someone back he thought he'd never see again, but so does zacharias.
scenario two is just a nightmare. frankly, i initially thought this scenario would lead to líf just ignoring zacharias (out of guilt, pain, etc), but i was rereading the scripts looking for the spelling of angrboða and this came up:
Tell Hel. She'll erase those memories. She'll erase them all...
so, honestly? i think that in scenario two líf just straight up gets hel to remove his memories of zacharias (as an aside maybe this is also why he never ever ever talks about other anna >:{ )
in that case, líf wouldn't really have any reason to talk to this man, who causes this empty deeply sad feeling to well up in him for now discernible reason. and zacharias has no reason (or time) to talk to this standoffish general of the dead. so. that's a real ships in the night moment.
number three i think líf would still hold the same guilt as in number two, but i don't think it would be as horrifically tragic, so i think it's more likely he'd be willing to approach zacharias. he does appear to have even worse of a thing than alfonse about not opening oneself up to people, but i think that even if he's líf, he once was an alfonse, and being that this is me answering this, i don't think any alfonse can really keep away from a zacharias for very long. its a version of the person who once knew him as well as any other person in the world. like líf can't really seem to stop himself from associating with main sharena, i don't think he could stop himself from reaching out in his own way to main zacharias. and god does that man need some more friends. i think zacharias would probably be a little frightened of líf, and of what an alfonse could become. but i think probably... i feel like a lot of book i issues stem from the fact that, justified or not, zacharias thinks alfonse would risk anything, any harm to save him. i don't know that confronting an alfonse who literally risked everything and did all harm to save his world would be a comfort, but i do think zacharias would get a lot out of having someone who's already done the worst they can do. been there, done that, got the tshirt. i think zacharias would be a little afraid of what an alfonse could become, but i think he would no longer have to be afraid of... no, anxious about it. i think there's a kind of calm in having something confirmed that zacharias could appreciate. healthy? unhealthy? fuck if i know. i also think that in líf, zacharias has a friend who he can't physically hurt anymore. lífs already dead. been there done there got the.... glowing gel torso. i think, curse nonewithstanding, zacharias will always have some degree of tension and fear about hurting people he's in a relationship with, be that because of his issues with abandonment, of abandoning, of harm, etc. but you know. líf's kind of a rock. and he's already hit his rock bottom, now that i'm thinking about rocks. i think that kind of steady, placid deathness could really help zacharias. and i think he would find it soothing, whether or not he knew why.
plus he will be able to know that if the curse gets him, if he dies... he'll still have a friend in the realm of the dead. he doesnt have to be so afraid of leaving and getting left
so there we go! lots of musings. i have been thinkin about why my headcanons are less that and more elaborate branching theories, and i think it is because i would change my opinion depending on which story i wanted to tell or hear or see.so yeah. dunno which one of these answers belongs to the question, what does your interpretation of Zacharias think about Líf and Thrasir?, but hopefully at least one of them is interesting to read about!
OH also. i think he would be petty-ly annoyed about them cribing líf and thrasir's name. like full on scholar petty. probably showed up to the order in a nerdy huff excited to meet the actual factual líf and thrasir and turns out its just those two, sitting around glowing and reciting death metal lyrics like they're spoken word ballads. dont think he'd get over that ever.

Not related to Seteth that much, but just wanted to say regarding this new chapter in FEH after reading your post about it- 1: I agree with all your points. 2: If you haven't played it yet, please do. It clears up a few things you've mentioned, though the story is still confusing as ever
YEAH I did actually. I’m still... Man. This story just threw me into a loop. I never Made a post after he actual chapter came out. because I’ve still been trying to figure out how I feel about it.
But thank you so much for sending this in! I’ve really been thinking about making another post discussing this but never got around to it because I didn’t want to turn this into a “Lin has feelings and opinions about FEH” blog. Though there is an Alfonse ask blog if y’all want my opinions on FEH there.
To also just mention this- I live where FEH resets is midnight but atm where I am it’s three am and I deadass stayed up until three for this chapter and BOY do I have opinions. Last time I stayed up for FEH reset where it was at three intentionally was Mila banner so I could summon for Líf. As much as I always say FEH bad and FEH stinky, I’m so attached to Alfonse that I’m the fool here.
This is going to be long because I’m going to mention a few things I’ve thought about since the midpoint and just going back to it. But basically, a whole bunch of things relating to Book IV and Book III because those are the only two really relevant anymore (thank you IntSys for at least attempting to make Veronica relevant. Maybe we should get her and Bruno as units and not their alts and more about them-)
ALSO WHEN I WENT BACK IN THE CHAPTER FOR THIS LET ME JUST SAY
Why does when you’re engaging an enemy does it look like you’re in front of the summoning stone. At least in the last part of the chapter. Please IntSys, this chapter already brought me enough pain.
A lot of this is may seem like “Wow that’s obvious” but still.
Starting with the beginning of the book, and all of it really. It’s so confusing. And what did this really... Have to do with the “plot”. It’s like IntSys forgot about the Embla and the conflict with Askr. Sure, Book II was somewhat related, and Book III was actually pretty related with the whole Líf/Alfonse and Thrasir/Veronica thing. Book IV finally doesn’t feel as disconnected from the rest of the “plot” (I say “plot” because it’s a tough subject on what the plot of FEH is) as the whole, “He died because of what happened in Hel/with Hel” thing. Book IV is literally some fever dream.
Alfonse being dead did not hit me well. Now this may sound childish, but when FEH first came out, I had finally moved back to my home state yet was still alone and all. All the friends I had left me one way or another over the years so when I first started playing, Alfonse was instantly one of my favourites. It wasn’t an “Oh haha he’s hot” thing but more of a “He gets it”. So with the whole Kiran is actual Alfonse detail?
Yeah me too.
With Kiran being from our world, you’d assume shitty things happened to them. It’s our world after all. So one could assume, going to Zenith was probably nice for them. Again, we don’t have any information about Kiran because they’re supposed to be us, but by the way Kiran hasn’t tried to leave yet (Unless they have and IntSys just. Didn’t show us until sometime later to fuck everything over) they wanted to stay. It makes sense they would want to stay, and have grown attached to the Askran trio and other Heroes as the summoner support exists (I say that as if my summoner supports aren’t Alfonse and Líf). So you could say that’s one reason they became Alfonse for his book, but honestly I  say there’s more to it than “I didn’t want you to live without Alfonse/I wanted him to keep being able to go on adventures with his friends”. I definitely don’t think it was Kiran being selfish though, just putting that out there. I think it really does have to do with Alfonse and the game isn’t just saying that to not be like “Oh well in reality Kiran doesn’t want to leave”.
I went back to through the last part of the chapter again and I’m not wrong.  Freyja’s line to Kiran saying they were all alone further supports the whole “Kiran finally has friends” thing.
I’m not going to quote Alfonse’s lines again, but I will quote Líf’s. Many of the things Líf says suggests that he was close with his Kiran. And obviously that means Alfonse and Kiran are close and the likes yeah yeah but. Looking at Líf’s lines...
“Get close to someone, and the pain of parting will be much more acute. You and Alfonse must remember this.”
“If you want someone to patrol with, ask Alfonse. I am not your comrade. But...be careful. Please.”
And then his whole level 40 conversation honestly.
“I once made a vow to Kiran... The summoner of my world, I mean. We trusted each other. I swore that I would keep Kiran safe... But in the end, I was unable to keep that promise. Alfonse must not make the same mistake I did. And I will protect you myself. Yes, I will continue to fight. Not as Alfonse, but as Líf. For your sake.”
Since Líf is technically still Alfonse, even with different futures, it suggests that no matter what, Alfonse and Kiran has a strong relationship and deeply care for each other. I’m not saying it’s something romantic because again, Kiran is the player and some people may not like Alfonse, but you can’t deny the in game relationship between the two is important to each other. So in all reality, part of the real reason could be that Kiran couldn’t cope with Alfonse’s death. Again this is just me speaking here but. I dunno.
I don’t think I need to say this but. The whole “changeling is Sharena” was to get everyone to focus on Sharena so Kiran being Alfonse was more surprising. With what happened, there’s no way they’d pull that too. Or they would but I feel like that would be more annoying than anything? IntSys definitely is aware how people feel about this chapter. There’s no way they wouldn’t.
Now to compare that part from the midpoint to the chapter!
Earlier, I started theorizing why “Alfonse” was in our world. I mentioned how close Alfonse and Kiran are, why Alfonse would be there, why “Kiran” came at “Alfonse”, but it’s really proven now. This may not have been noticeable because it was short, but “Alfonse” doesn’t seem phased at what “Kiran”’s doing. When Kiran comes towards Alfonse, we never knew the motive but for that short time you can see Alfonse’s face (I suggest watching the midpoint in .5 to catch it) and he just. Seems like it’s not really a shocker to him. He only just looks so dumb and needs a small bap in the face. So it’s like Kiran was aware they were going to see Alfonse again.
I’ve put this in my writing about this chapter but, there’s a possibility Kiran also wanted to lead them all to him through this to try and help him or whatever. Though that’s more just me writing angst off of my feelings of him being dead.
But as Freyja said, this is just one whole dream. So that would imply next chapter everyone will wake up and Alfonse would be alive.
Yeah.... I don’t think that could work. Because then Hel would have to be a dream.
Or you know.
They could break the fourth wall in a terrible way. Where everyone learns about FEH. And that’s what she could’ve meant by “everything is a dream”.
But I highly doubt it.
I hope the next chapter isn’t disappointing and that Alfonse can come back. Perhaps the Light’s Blessings can come into play? Become story relevant too.
This all may have not made sense but, I really do have opinions for the chapter.
Apologies if this doesn’t make sense, I’m still trying to wrap my head around a lot of things.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse/Bruno | Zacharias Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Bruno | Zacharias, Other(s) Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Rock Band, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting Series: Part 3 of brufonse week 2020 Published: 2020-10-22 Word Count: 4275 Summary:
Despite everything, Bruno had the idle thought, on more than a few occasions, to try and reconnect with Alfonse. At the very least, it wouldn’t come off as someone trying to take advantage of a former acquaintance’s newfound fame, but that had never been Bruno’s concern, anyway.
No, what had been his concern was that they had drifted apart so suddenly, and everything in Bruno’s life had changed.
If Alfonse saw Bruno now, he certainly wouldn’t recognize his former friend. Thirteen years would do that, he supposed.
happy brufonse week, my thoughts on this fic are under the cut
okay so one. your eyes do NOT deceive you, this IS a 4000+ word one-shot from me! it could’ve been even longer but i was trying not to like go overboard for brufonse week. still as much as i like this and am proud of it i am thinking that at some point i might want to... expand this out. make a chaptered fic of it because there is SO MUCH DETAIL that i had to leave out to keep this from taking me months to write and so many details i would’ve loved to have the place to fit in
so setting details. they’re both alternative bands but they’re different genres that fit under the alternative music umbrella. i did not go into this because i didn’t wanna waste everyone’s time by going on a multi-paragraph explanation of the intricacies of the millions of different alternative genres. i also know basically how these bands sound but i can’t describe it without bringing up specific bands, at least for zenith, and the one band that has the specific Sound i was thinking of ended up being shitty so. i can say that golden wings is like a lot lighter a band. not pop punk exactly but might have a bit of that influencing it. zenith is more dramatic. stage presence of the black parade-era mcr, but not quite the sound since i imagine zenith is a bit lighter. yes i’m sorry i have to talk about band shit when discussing this fic
as you could guess, the interviewer talking to alfonse is peony. bruno doesn’t know her name so in the fic neither do we since we’re following his pov
originally i was thinking of writing the beginning bit, the interview, from alfonse’s perspective but i ended up not doing that because i figured that this fic would be better/easier to write from bruno’s pov
i kind of wish i had the chance to involve other characters more, but because i basically had to keep a lot to the core of the story i couldn’t quite do that. as such i didn’t get to elaborate on things like bruno and helbindi’s friendship, or eir and sharena at all
laegjarn knows bruno didn’t watch the entire interview because he didn’t have the reaction she would have expected of him
i know who does what in each band also. this did not get to be relevant in the fic itself so it’s here now
GOLDEN WINGS alfonse - lead singer, guitar kiran - bass sharena - drums anna - manager
ZENITH bruno - lead singer, guitar laegjarn - bass helbindi - drums eir - backing vocals, rhythm guitar loki - manager
i am skipping around a lot because some sections of this fic i don’t have much to say about. ngl VERY early on in the planning for this fic (if you can call it planning) i had the idea to turn the plot twist of book 1 on its head, that bruno is zacharias, by having alfonse know The Whole Time. so i was super pleased to have that work out. i also knew from the start i wanted bruno to not see the entire interview and miss where alfonse was confessing his love
the last section of the fic is the weakest, i think. i probably could’ve just cut it out but i really wanted to get over 4000 words on this fic. but honestly you might be able to tell i was just trying really hard to wrap it up. it’s still kind of sweet and i don’t think it’s BAD it’s just my least favorite personally
i like this fic a lot for what it is, i’m proud of it for being my longest one-shot. i could probably have more to say about it but i’m fucking exhausted i got like 3 hours of sleep total today. the last thing i rly wanna say abt this is that it’s like... not a slow burn but ONLY because the length of the fic meant it couldn’t be. if i had the time and patience and energy to devote to making it chaptered it would almost definitely be long enough to consider slow burn
i also can’t pick a favorite section because i like too much of this to choose just one

Jojo Dreamlog #8
So uhhh this one is a pretty personal dream. Or at least it starts out that way... There are a lot of college and princess (visual) themes and “sibling” rivalry. Sibling in quotations because this person is actually no longer my sibling but we were step siblings for a time and our relationship was sour but in the dream we’re still siblings, I think...
The dream starts out in the basement of the house I used to live in with this sibling, but this basement is a mega 100% upgrade from its reality and so is the rest of the house. I’m playing princess with the kids hanging out here and all their play-pretend toys are super high quality, but I can’t remember the important plot point at this point in the dream. I just remember that fairytales were brought up and it was relevant.
Outside is Alaska snowy for whatever reason and the sun comes out and step sis is like “omg its so cold” but I go to college in New York, so I’m kind of used to it and because the sun is shining I just start peeling my layers because I’m too hot and I can take it. She thinks I’m insane and judges me for it but I indirectly call her a weakling since I have no patience to retort otherwise. I hate her, I am tired of her, she exhausts me, and I wish she’d go away.
At first we’re still at the house--outside--and I’m with my littler brother. In the dream he’s younger than he is in reality but not by many years. We walk and we end up by this apartment looking place where the snow has reached 2 feet? Maybe more. A snow storm had just finished and we’re exiting out of the building. Step sis starts talking about her boyfriend and I hold in my irritation.
My brother wanders around and goes to play with the snow as I accompany him. Eventually he goes to spend time with his dad and step sis and I leave the apartment area to go to the shore. All her friends meet up with her and their aura is filled with bougie superficiality and convenience that I can’t stand it and keep my distance. It’s like she’s flaunting the best life could ever give anyone right in my face; things I’ve always wanted.
I don’t know where we’re going anymore. We were heading to the shore but where we end up is actually a cove and quite suddenly step sis challenges me versus her and all of her friends on a treasure hunt race. They have fancy boats to transverse the cove while I have nothing. The cove is beautiful, however: I stand on multicolored gravel--a bit desaturated so collectively it seems grey but it is only because individually their radiance clashes--and iridescent aquamarine water calmly flows as the step sister and her friends tear through the peaceful waters with their high-end boats and grating laughter. The walls of stone cliffs are not gray, but a warm, desaturated, magenta lined a medium-gray purpled  with the ceiling covered in clear, yellow crystal the emulates the sun. The lighting makes you feel like you’re outside, yet you are undoubtedly within a confined space.
I know I was set up to fail; I have no method to search, and no clues to get me started. I am left with a feeling of anger and emptiness as I know I can do nothing. I stand and stare when I am suddenly addressed.
“Why are you here? And who are you?”
The voice reveals to me a siren; I know it’s Bruno, but surprise does not escape me. How could it be that a siren lives here? I’ve never met him before in this dream and the cove seems almost devoid of life. Despite confusion still buried under the doubt, denial, and anger, I answer his questions calmly but not without sorrow. He offers to take me across towards the other shore and be my guide, to which I graciously accept and offer my thanks. We chat on the way there; only small talk and enough to catch him up on my predicament.
When we get there, there is no shore and I have to climb up a cliff to obtain the “treasure”; it seems to be transverse easily. The “treasure” in question has no physical form when I obtain it, I just know that it is what I was looking for. Although I know have bested the others against all odds, I am not filled with joy or excitement. I completed a task and although I’ll get even, the treasure merely feels like just an object and my triumph will only be short lived because it doesn’t solve the overlying issue that will continue to plague me even when the whole ordeal is done.
When I return, Bruno doesn’t understand why I look so solemn to which I explain my thinking. In honesty his kindness brings me peace and a want to never go back, but I know I have to. It’s silent and empty in the cove, but it is peaceful and without torment. And even then, he’s offered me so much without costs, it feels distasteful to leave without giving him something in return. Even so, I have nothing to offer and the guilt slowly begins to build. He understands but refuses my offer. I don’t understand why, but I can do nothing but comply to his wishes. We talk a little more before we set off to return, admiring the tranquility of the cove. Maybe I’ll be able to come back... Our travel is quiet, and through the rushing water, I hope it never ends.
The dream ends here.

Day 21- Canon? Never Heard of Her
read below for a good time
a rant by kara
what if canon was different?? Well it’s a good thing there’s a lot I would change
(warning, this was written on my break at work which was after a rough day, so be it might be more moody than normal)
the first episode is (imo) the worst pilot episode out of the all the ygo series. it’s boring and I skip straight to the pipeline episode if I’m showing someone the series for the first time, or the bug episode, but the pilot is low-key bad
IF WE’RE GONNA GIVE YUSEI FRIENDS LETS MAKE THEM RELEVANT FOR MORE THAN A SEASON THANKS
I would change nothing about the detention center but also?? why the amnesia storyline in dub?? was it really that needed??
I can’t even remember his name, but that knight dude who faced off against Aki was wack and I skip that episode because it has no importance to the plot beyond aki wins a duel. woo-hoo. show it off screen or give her a duel that’s actually important or fun to watch
rip dick pitt
I honestly have nothing bad to say about the dark signer arc because it’s beautifully done and it doesn’t need changed
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND
WHY WE GONNA HAVE JACK AND CARLY CONFESS THEIR FEELINGS AND THEN FORGET AND NOT BRING IT UP FIVE SECONDS LATER
LETS NOT JUST HAVE HER DEATH AND CONFESSION BE USED AS SHOCK OR EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE
I GET CARLYS VOICE ACTRESS WAS IN A CULT BUT RECAST HER AND BRING HER BACK TO SUPPORTING
Aki never had her arc closed because you can’t close an arc if you don’t develop a character fully
The ghost episode was beautiful and then we have an entire season full of filler shit that does nothing but retcon the characters
the only good episodes are the sherry episode and the WRGP opening, the rest do nothing but fill up time slots for episodes
I lied, the Aki episode was great too
if only she used her d-wheel for more than five episodes
literally change them all, change all the episodes
name me a fic that doesn’t skip at least one during the run of their story
crashtown was perfect change my mind
Team unicorn is perfect
I don’t remember the others duels but ragnorak’s and catastrophe’s
Which expand on catastrophe more??? that was wild
I especially don’t remember the filler shit in between except for bruno and sherry
the entire WRGP reads like they had a big idea and then were forced to scale it back and cut it in half
then there’s ark cradle
Paradox was a better villain than aporia change my mind
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF Z-ONE
JUST MAKE HIM YUSEI
LITERALLY EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER HAD AN EVIL SECTION JUST LET YUSEI HAVE AN EVIL ALTFUTURE VERSION OF HIM
BECAUSE WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED WAS LAME AND OVERCOMPLICATED FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN ~~yusei is a good boy~~~
Like if you’re going to market a serious darker version of a ygo series why not actually make it serious and more dark by allowing the character’s darker side to mature and shaw more complex emotions
All we had was antimony’s death for the angst
Otherwise yusei isn’t directly affected beyond “END OF THE WORLD” bullshit
Also yusei never lost a duel
Let him lose to dark glass
Let him lose to SOMEONE
I hate the jack/rua/ruka vs aporia duel and it needs fixed
Crow becoming an officer was dumb
Them not showing yusei’s future was dumb
The ending was kinda lacking
Also there wasn’t much callback to past shows?? Like I’m not expecting a GX moment where the final is judai vs yugi but you can do SOMETHING other than pointing out names for sponsors that aren’t even the dub I think
i’m not a fan of faithshipping but that tease at the end was painful and literally it was RIGHT THERE just make it fucking canon if you’re going to already go that far
Stephanie was a dick
Conclusion: needs more andore
I want a nap

1, 5, 6, 10, 17, 19, 22, 23, and 34 for the yugioh meme?
1)  Favourite Yu-Gi-Oh! series
This is like asking me which out of my six children should survive while the other five die XD. I love all the series since they all have both pros and cons, and they all have interesting characters and stories, but I guess ARC V will always have a special place in my heart since it got me back in Yugioh fandom (I stopped after 5Ds for a while several years ago). VRAINS is currently my favourite series plotwise since it continues to surprise me and keeps me hyped every single week.
5)  Favourite opening/ending
For the opening, it’s a tie between second and fifth ARC V opening. “Burn” has an incredibly upbeat melody that makes me smile every time I listen to it. “Light of Hope” on the other hand tells a story of how there is despair but smiles will be there to make it go away. I’m rather torn between choosing either of them since they are both really nice endings. As for ending - “Close to You”, 4th ending from 5Ds. I first started watching 5Ds in English dub but once I caught up with it, I was too curious what is going to happen next so I started watching Japanese dub from that point on and that was probably the smartest decision ever. I got to see “Close to You” not only as the first Yugioh Japanese ending but the very first anime ending ever. I loved every single moment of it, of all the characters just chilling around the city, then meeting up, watching the sunrise and then riding D-Wheels with their dragons! It is an ending that is beyond perfect and really emphasises the bonds and friendship between all Signers.
Tumblr media
6)  Favourite character
Tumblr media
If you had asked me this question before Takeru showed up, I would’ve probably blurted out the names of several characters and say how I love them all, but Takeru is a special case. You see, he is a character that I loved before he even officially appeared XD. I’m following the news, cast lists and summaries, so when Takeru showed up for the first time in an anime magazine (like a month before his official anime appearance), I fell in love with everything about him. Both his human self and avatar had all the right colours and designs that fit his personality well, his backstory was intriguing, I was already looking forward to seeing another Lost Child and out of all possible voices, he got to be voiced by one and only Kaji Yuuki (who is among my Top 3 anime voice actors!). Then he showed up in the new opening and ending and him being friendly and cosy with Yusaku was just plain adorable! I had no idea what his role was going to be but from that point it was clear - Yusaku is getting a new friend! And was his entrance perfect - lightning, fire tornado and then him! 10/10 Burner of Souls! Not only was he righteously hyped up, but he also continues to be amazing and I have a feeling his character will get even more development!
10)  Favourite Duel Monster
Tumblr media
It’s hard to pick a single monster, but I love every single card in Johan’s deck aka. Crystal/Gem Beast archetype. The designs are simple but so well executed and out of all of them, it’s hard to pick just one. I love their story, the legend and just the fact how much they all care about Johan, trying to reach out to him when Yubel possessed him. A big plus is also the fact how much personality they all have and they are always there to help up Johan.
17)  Have you ever cried over YGO and why?
You should’ve rather ask me when I didn’t lol. But yeah in every spinoff there was a moment that I actually cried. In original series there were two moments, when Yugi duelled Atem in the fourth season, letting him defeat him and then fading away in his arms and the Ceremonial duel when Yugi stumbled on his knees and cried, I cried with him cuz I also didn’t want Atem to go. Then in GX, it was basically whenever Judai would show vulnerability, cuz really, I hated his guts and his goofy overpowered persona. But then when he lost Johan, when he was afraid of Yubel, when he succumbed to the power of Supreme King and the entire season 4 when he was battling with depression - to see someone so cheerful becoming a mere shell of himself was so darn sad. 5Ds started darker but nothing could prepare me for two scenes, Yusei nearly dying, being afraid to duel and then watching his friend die in his arms and then losing another friend for real (Bruno! :’( ). Zexal made me cry a weird mixture of happy and sad tears whenever Yuma and Astral did something. When Astral sacrificed himself for Yuma I don’t know when I cried more - when Yuma watched Astral die or Yuma suffering from major depression for the next few episodes. But that scene when he got reunited with Astral was that more powerful because of it and their relationship is truly the purest of them all. ARC V, spinoff all about smiles was probably one of the saddest series, not just because of many sad moments throughout the whole thing aka. Yuto dying in Yuya’s arms for real, Yugo losing Rin, Yuya losing Yuzu, the fate of other Bracelet Girls and Yu-Boys and the overall ending, but also how inconclusive the ending felt. I kinda get the point was to show the realism of war, how not everyone can get a happy ending but it could still be executed better. Then there’s VRAINS…. *sighs* where do I even start with this….
Tumblr media
VRAINS truly took the plotline seriously and doesn’t seem like it’s going to back down. It is like the writing staff put together a medley of the saddest moments in Yu-Gi-Oh! and were like, “Let’s make it sadder!”. From the fact that mere six-year-old children were tortured so badly, that Ryoken was so messed up by his father, that all Lost Children are still suffering in one way or another, that SOL practically killed a living being and all the drama that it’s going on between Yusaku and Kusanagi right now. Last week’s episode had me nearly tear up and for tomorrow I will most definitely cry. It’s just so painful to see someone so desperate to save their own family, to attack someone they were all set to protect just a few episodes ago… And VRAINS isn’t even over yet. I thought nothing could top Earth’s death scene, but from the looks of it, tomorrow will be getting a dose of the most painful feels.
19)  Least favourite series
It’s a tie between GX and the first series if I had to choose one. GX has a rather monotone first half when there is some stuff going on, but it’s really episodic and easily forgotten. While there were some interesting episodes, the rest was just one giant filler that tried to deliver too much nostalgia from the first series instead of developing on its own. And speaking of the first series - I know the card game wasn’t as developed at the time so tons of duels made absolutely no sense. Then it was only Yugi, Kaiba and Joey having the development and extremely long duels that were starting to feel off and annoying to watch. But overall - I know that was the very first series and the spinoff, so it was obvious it wouldn’t be perfect. What I truly love about Yu-Gi-Oh! is that it’s a franchise that continues to grow with every single spin-off, even if they’re becoming less relevant they are still getting stronger storywise.
22)  Least favourite character
Tumblr media
This little brat is a perfect representation of how to create the most annoying character. Everything about him screams “annoying, useless and awful”. It would be completely fine if he was an episodic villain, but noooo for some reason writing staff was like, “hey let’s make this dude into Yuma’s friend”. I get it, Yuma can make friends easily, but for the love of God, why him?! Yuma has enough friends already, why bring this brat into his group? Tokunosuke has literally no purpose to be here but to cause trouble or be a plot device to bring Yuma trouble. Okay, I was fine with that one time that he got Yuma into trouble and Yuma still forgave him, but why the hell did they have a need to repeat that three more times? I feel the same way about Kotori - she has no basic purpose but to be moral support or act as a damsel in distress.ZEXAL had way too many characters and out of them all, they picked the most useless ones for major roles.
23)  NOTP
Tumblr media
Canon datastormshipping. I think I made it clear why I dislike it in two posts already, but I guess I could sum it up for the third time. In canon verse they are two unstable people who bring out the worst of each other. They rarely interact, their ideologies are vastly different and they are in a way obsessed with each other in a very unhealthy way. If the two of them dated it would most likely result in a very toxic relationship which would only worsen up their already broken mental states. Again, I greatly dislike this ship in canon verse (in anime up to episode 92) and my opinion could change by the end of VRAINS. I still like the fanfics and fanarts that depict “what if” scenarios where their relationship could work (I’m actually writing one at the moment and I have plans to write one where I focus on their relationship in detail), but canon shipping just feels off and dysfunctional.
34)  If you met Kazuki Takahashi, what would you say to him?
First of all, I would thank him for coming up with those amazing characters and plotlines. I still love the original manga and season 0 the most since it had so much creativity with different games, but I can see it keep getting included more with new summoning methods and unique stories. Then I would most likely present him my idea for the 7th series and its protagonist. From the start of the series, there wasn’t much about card game production or who designs them. We got some info on how Pegasus discovered Millenium Items and the tablet with Egyptian Gods and in GX it showed Hayato working as a card game designer. I would love to see a protagonist who loves games just like Yugi and wishes to create more, so he strives to become the best card game designer. He is not that keen on playing the game since he prefers to make the cards more, but when he creates a particular card(kinda like how Takato created Guilmon in Digimon Tamers) he is pulled into an adventure where he must find other cards that contain powerful Duel Monsters spirits and he has to lock them back into their cards. I would also love to have a protagonist that can talk with spirits again since while Judai had adorable interactions with Winged Kuriboh and Neo Spacians, it was still largely brushed aside and not that much explored. So yeah please make the next protagonist into a card game designer, it will be unique and open to so many interesting plotlines and potentials.
